Bosnia and herzegovina visa policy.

Bosnia has an independent visa policy that mandates every visitor to apply for a visa and get one before they can enter the country. Visas are issued through any of their foreign missions abroad for different purposes. However, those who qualify for their visa waiver program because of their nationality don’t require visas to visit.

Bosnia is an applicant for European Union membership, and the process is ongoing. To this end, it maintains a similar Schengen visa policy in many aspects.

For instance, visa-free access is granted to visitors with Schengen Annex II nationality as well as many other countries like Turkey, Oman, Kuwait, China, and the like. Determining which country to include on the visa-free list is based on agreements with such countries.

Bosnia and Herzegovina offers free access to citizens from more than 100 countries and territories, including refugees and stateless persons who are allowed to enter the country and stay for 90 days in 180 days in most cases. There are other considerations with the citizens of Ukraine, and Russia granted an extended 2 months of stay.

Bosnia and Herzegovina issues substitute visas to holders and residents of Schengen and EU member countries. The same privilege is extended to visa holders and residents of the US who may wish to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina. Substitute Visa holders are permitted to stay for 30 days maximum. However, note that substitute visas are not available to Kosovo passport holders.

ETIAS Entry

Bosnia does not have an electronic visa program for short-term visitors but is set to adopt the European Travel Information and Authorization System once it becomes active in 2024. By allowing holders of Schengen visas entry, the same grace is set to be extended to ETIAS holders who are citizens from visa-exempt countries on the Schengen list.

The ETIAS initiative was originally a European Union affair, but its influence is set to extend across the entire European continent. While Bosnians will be required to apply for ETIAS to visit Schengen countries, the country will also accept it as an entry document.

ETIAS is a pre-screening program set in place to screen visa-exempt visitors. The program is designed to identify persons who pose a risk to the continent and bar them from entry. It is valid for 90 days and can be used for multiple tourism, business, transit, or medical treatment trips. Holders can stay in the country for up to 90 days in 180 days.

Key Information About Bosnia and Herzegovina ETIAS

Find vital details for visitors traveling to Bosnia and Herzegovina with the European Travel Information Authorization System.

Bosnia is not an issuer : It is important to note that the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina do not issue ETIAS or approved application. Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a Schengen country and a member of the European Union, so it lacks the authority to issue such approvals. To apply for this document, you must apply to any of the European Union countries with authorization.

Only For Eligible Applicants: Another important thing to bear in mind is that this ETIAS is only for non-Europeans who already qualify for visa exemption. If you can enter the Schengen Zone without a visa, you will be eligible to apply for ETIAS once it becomes mandatory in 2024. If you don’t qualify for visa exemption, kindly apply for a Bosnian and Herzegovina visa.

Apply On Time:  ETIAS applications take only thirty minutes or less to approve, so you should endeavor to submit your application at least 24 hours before your approval. Although you may apply it on the same day to intend to travel, it’s best to have your document sorted out on time.

Visit Another Schengen Country First You should always visit another Schengen country first before traveling to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Your first destination should be the country that issued the ETIAS approval in line with Schengen travel regulations.

Respect The 180-Day Cycle:  On the travel regulations, visitors can stay in Europe with ETIAS for up to 90 days within six months. If you stay for more than 90 days, you will have broken the rules, and sanctions will likely follow.

Only For Visa-Exempt Nationals: Don’t forget that ETIAS is solely for visitors who are nationals of visa-exempt countries. If you are not from Bosnia and Herzegovina, you should apply for a Schengen visa instead from an EU country or a Bosnian visa from any foreign missions abroad.

Travel With The Same Passport:  It is important to always travel with the same passport you used for the ETIAS application because they are linked. Persons who arrive with different passports will not be allowed into the country.

Passport:  Your passport should be the one you used for your ETIAS registration, so avoid tracking with a different one. Remember that ETIAS permits are like e-visas; they are linked to the passport information, and border agents will request it to validate your entry. If your passport does not remain valid beyond your stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina or any other Schengen country, do well to apply for a New passport before you submit your ETIAS registration.

Application Fee:  The application fee is paid by only some applicants as it is age specific.

Persons outside the bracket of 18-70 years are exempted from the ETIAS application fee. Also, note that this fee is not refundable after it is paid.

Saudi citizens granted visa-free entry to Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2023 tourism season

Citizens will need to present evidence of a paid tourism programme package

STOCK VISA / Travel / Holiday

Dubai: Bosnia and Herzegovina has announced visa-free entry for Saudi citizens during the 2023 tourism season. The exemption, which will last for three months, allows Saudi nationals to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina without requiring an entry visa.

The announcement was made by the Foreign Ministry of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stating the easing of visa restrictions aligns with the country’s interests to improve economic cooperation and bolster its tourism capabilities.

Meanwhile, the embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Riyadh clarified that during this visa-free period, Saudi visitors are permitted a residency period of up to 30 days.

For tourists, upon arrival at the border port’s customs area, it will be necessary to present evidence of a paid tourism programme package. Additionally, proof of travel health insurance and transportation arrangements for returning to Saudi Arabia will be required.

For those Saudis visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina for commercial reasons or on a short trip, an invitation letter approved by the Foreigners Affairs Department of Bosnia and Herzegovina will need to be presented at the border port’s customs area.

saudi arabia city

What is Umrah, and why is it important to Muslims?

Embarking on an Umrah pilgrimage is like turning a new leaf in your spiritual journey. For Muslims worldwide, Umrah represents more than just a visit to Mecca; it's a profound act of devotion and a path to spiritual cleansing.

Unlike Hajj, which is restricted to specific dates, Umrah can be performed at any time of the year , offering more flexibility to the devout. The pilgrimage involves visiting the Kaaba, Islam's holiest site, and completing the rituals of tawaf and Sa'y between Mount Safa and Mount Marwah.

So, why is Umrah so significant in the Islamic faith? For starters, it serves as a potent medium for soul purification and seeking forgiveness for past sins. Additionally, it helps Muslims deepen their connection with Allah by emulating the example of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who performed Umrah four times during his lifetime.

Before you pack your bags for this life-changing journey, remember that a valid Umrah visa is mandatory for entry into Saudi Arabia for Umrah.

At iVisa, we've got you covered with a seamless application process that ensures you can focus on the spiritual aspects of your pilgrimage, leaving the logistics to us.

Umrah Visa: What is it, and why do you need it?

Embarking on the sacred journey of Umrah necessitates specific travel documentation, and the Umrah Visa serves this exact purpose. This specialized visa is a must-have travel document issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia solely to facilitate your pilgrimage to the holy sites in Mecca.

It's crucial to note that the Umrah Visa differs from the Hajj Visa. While both are religious visas, the Umrah Visa cannot be used to perform Hajj; a separate Hajj Visa is mandatory for that purpose. Also, activities like studying are off-limits while you're in the country on this visa.

Umrah Visa validity

Being well-versed in the specifics of your visa validity can make or break your pilgrimage experience. Here are some vital details:

Validity duration: The Umrah Visa is valid for a generous 90 days after issued , offering ample time to complete your spiritual rites.

Single Entry: The visa permits a one-time entry into Saudi Arabia, so planning your journey carefully within these constraints is essential.

With iVisa at your service, navigating the visa intricacies becomes a breeze, leaving you more time to focus on the spiritual dimensions of your pilgrimage. Prepare for your Umrah knowing that every logistical detail is meticulously handled. Your sacred journey isn't just a dream but an impending reality, thanks to our streamlined processes and relentless support.

Introduction of new Umrah Visa rule in 2024

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia has made significant updates to the Umrah Visa rules. Umrah Visas now remain valid for 90 days from the issue date . Previously, the validity of the visa began once you arrived in Saudi Arabia.

In addition, Umrah Visas for pilgrims coming from outside the country will now expire on 15 Dhu al-Qa’dah , which corresponds to May 23, 2024, for the current season. The previous expiry date was 29 Dhu al-Qa’dah. This change allows Saudi authorities more time to prepare for the Hajj season, aiming to improve the experience for both Umrah and Hajj pilgrims.

All international pilgrims must leave the country by the new expiry date. There are penalties for overstaying an Umrah Visa, which will be levied on both the pilgrims and the companies that arranged their visas .

To get rid of some confusion right from the start.

This Visit Visa is also known as Visa on Arrival or VoA. However, the name is misleading because it can be purchased already online BEFORE your arrival (advisable). The term was used, before online purchase was available. To get the visa upon arrival is also still possible if you missed getting it online before you arrive.  The official Visa Code is B1, B2, B3 and B4.

The 30days Visit Visa is available for 90+ nationalities.

Application – Price – Validity – Must Know

Visit visa for bali, indonesia (also known as visa on arrival, voa & e-voa), faq visit visa / visa on arrival, both, the visit visa is also called visa on arrival (or voa). .

Since Indonesia implemented an option to get the Visa online, it is (was) also called e-VoA.

90+ nationalities can now get a 30days Visit Visa.

When applying online you must select the type of "Visa on Arrival" based on your travel purpose:

Most travelers to Bali who can get a Visit Visa will have to apply for the B1.

B1 - Tourist Purpose

  • Conducting activities related to tourism, and visiting friends or family.
  • Participate in meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions as an attendee.
  • Traveling in Indonesia on a yacht (yachter).

B2 - Business Purpose

  • Carry out activities related to business, meetings, or purchase of goods including but not limited to checking goods at the office, factory, or production site of goods.
  • Discuss, negotiate, and/or sign business contracts.

B3 - Medical Vist

  • conducting activities related to medical treatment.

B4 - Government related

  • Conducting activities related to Government Business.

This is how you can apply for the Indonesia Tourist Visa / Visa on Arrival:

1. electronic visa on arrival (e-voa - b1, b2, b3, b4).

You can apply and purchase the Visa already online and avoid queuing at VoA counters at the airport which will save you time and is much more convenient.

You can apply for e-VOA 14 days before your travel. However, you are advised to create an e-VOA request at least 48 hours before your departure, otherwise you might not receive it in time. The Visa is not issued instantly!

Make sure you check your Spamfolder when you expect to receive emails. ONLY follow the official link below and get your Visa from the immigration website. There are plenty of scammers out there.

2. At the Airport / Harbour upon arrival in Indonesia

If you do not purchase the e-VoA before you arrive in Indonesia online, you can still purchase the Visa at the VoA counters at international airports in the arrival halls (or at harbours, if you arrive by boat or cruise ship). Expect long queues at times.

The documents needed for your Visa applications are:

When you purchase upon arrival at the airport or harbour.

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months on date of arrival (no exceptions!)
  • Return ticket (or outbound of Indonesia)
  • Cash or Credit Card

When you purchase the Visa online BEFORE arrival:

a. Full biodata page of passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of your arrival to Indonesia; b. Passport size photograph; c. Email address; d. A valid Mastercard, Visa, or JCB credit card. e. Residence information in Bali / Indonesia (hotel etc) f. Return or outbound Ticket

Yes, you do need a return ticket, that matches the validity of your Visa.

It can happen that they might not ask to show the return ticket.

It might also happen, that the immigration officers will ask you. And if you don't have a return ticket, they will make you purchase one right and won't let you enter Indonesia with out a return ticket (or a ticket that takes you outside of Indonesia).

YES - regardless of their age. Also infants.

The Visit Visa (VoA) is valid for 30 days initially.

The Visa can be extended ONLY ONCE for another 30 days.

So after 60 days you MUST leave the country. You can not apply for another Visa while you are in Indonesia..

Note: Day of arrival and day of departure count as FULL days each.

There are two ways to extend the Visa on Arrival:

1. ONLINE: If you purchased the Visa ONLINE , you can also extend the visa ONLINE but on the immigration website where you got the visa in the first place ( Imigrasi ). For that you need the login to the account that you created when you applied for the Visa.

2. OFFLINE: If you purchased the Visa in person upon arrival and not pnline you need to apply for a 30days extension i n person at an immigration office . We strongly suggest you work with a Visa Agent to get this done.

Details of the Process, Visa Agent Application and agent price for extension

If you got the Visa online but somehow don't manage to get an extension online (technical issues), then you can also get an extension offline of course.

The cost is IDR 500,000 (ca. USD 35 / AUD 50) per person

  • Online Purchase (e-VoA) per credit card on the (extra fees might apply) OFFICIAL immigration website
  • Purchase at the airport arrival hall (or harbour) and pay at the VoA counter in cash (EUR, GBP, AUD, USD, SGD, IDR) or by credit card (no AMEX)

Visas are based on your PASSPORT & NATIONALITY. Residency permits of other countries are NOT considered.

If you don't have a passport but a Titre de Voyage, Refugee Travel Document or similar travel documents, you would need to apply for a B211A Visa. Information and Application

Unfortunately there is nothing we can do.

The entire online application service for the Visa on Arrival for Bali is handled 100% by the immigration department. If you run into problems, this is what they said on their website:

"Kindly inform the e-VOA Support Desk (livechat at www.imigrasi.go.id or sending email to [email protected] or [email protected]) should you encounter any suspended or unsuccessful transactions during the request procedure."

Sometimes confirmation emails land in your spam folder, that's the first thing you should check.

Their website seems to be changing rather frequently, and sometimes some features seem to not work on all browsers equally well. What we noticed is, that if you tried to extend a visa and the process failed, it seems you have to then wait one more day to see the extension option again.

Worse case, if the application fails, you can still get the Visa upon arrival in the arrival hall of the airport (Visa on Arrival).

No , you cannot enter multiple times into Indonesia with this Visa.

The visa on arrival is only a single entry visa. if you leave indonesia and want to come back, you need to apply for a new visit visa..

Officials have now installed new digital Entry Gates to get through the immigration in Bali. There are still counters with Immigration Officers in the arrival hall. But with your e-Visa you can get through the immigration using the electronic gates (if they are working and the officials will not guide you towards the counters with immigration officers.

At the electronic gates, you will scan your passport and once you are through you will receive per email an e-KTE, your Visa Stay Permit. It's a PDF that acknowledges your arrival.

Because you will not get a stamp in your passport anymore if you use the e-Gate the system will register your arrival electronically.

If you purchased your Visa upon Arrival (not online) you will can not use the electronic gates and must go to a counter with an immigration officer.

YOU CANNOT GET ANOTHER VISA AFTER YOU HAVE EXTENDED the visa on arrival ONCE (max. 60 days in total), while you are in Indonesia. You would have to leave the country and come pack.

If you want to stay longer than 60 days, you have to get a B211A OFFSHORE Visit Visa (60days) before your arrival first, which is valid for 60 days and which can be extended twice, each extension is valid for another 60 days (total max. 180 days, before you have to leave the country).

B211A Visa Application Service

If you overstay your visa, you have  to pay a fine of IDR 1,000,000 per day. If you overstayed substantially you might be detained, deported, or banned from coming back to Indonesia for a specific period.

There are several travel regulations you must be aware of which you can find here: Bali Entry Regulations

Note: If you intend to rent a scooter or motorbike you will need to bring your local driving license AND and international driving license. The traffic police has made several statements lately that they will control more often and will issue fines.

If you don't have an international license you can get one here: International Driving License accepted by the Indonesian authorities
