Getting the Cheapest Flights Between Los Angeles and Tokyo

Eight flights a day connect two of the world’s favorite cities, making travel from Los Angeles to Tokyo (and vice versa) a breeze. Whether you’re looking to hit up Japan’s capital on the holiday of a lifetime or fly in for business, this article is all about helping you to get from Los Angeles to Japan on the cheap. We’ve thrown in a few tips and tricks about timing your flights to Tokyo and things to do on the way, too, because we’re generous like that (who said cheapos had to be stingy?).

Los Angeles to Tokyo – Direct flights vs. layovers

Flight times.

If you’re flying straight from LAX to Tokyo (either Haneda or Narita Airport), you’re looking at around 11 hours and 30 minutes of air time. The return route is about an hour shorter. Routing via a transit point can save you a couple of hundred dollars (or more, depending on the airline and travel season), but also adds an extra 8-28 hours to your journey. If you’re going to go indirect, the fastest and least exhausting options are flying via San Francisco (often on a codeshare flight), Vancouver, Taipei or Shanghai (though the latter can also be one of the longest, if you don’t pick your flights carefully).

Los Angeles to Japan: direct flight costs

ANA, good old JAL, Singapore Airlines and several US carriers all offer direct flights from LAX to Tokyo, and prices are generally fairly competitive. You can’t go wrong with any of the first three choices—as for selecting one of the latter, we’ll leave that up to you. Have a closer look at Skyscanner to see what the best rates are for your travel dates.

Los Angeles to Japan: indirect flight costs

If you’re hellbent on flying into Tokyo via somewhere else, your best bet is to look for deals on either codeshare flights (e.g. Delta and ANA), Air Canada, Air China or China Eastern, or Korean Air (a good choice if you’re keen on a stopover in Japan’s nearest neighbor).

Our advice:  Cap your flight time at 20 hours if possible, unless you’re spending the night at a hotel in the in-between country. Anything more than a day in the air makes for extremely weary cheapos tottering off the plane in Tokyo! Note that 2-stop indirect flight deals aren’t usually much cheaper than 1-stop indirect options, so work on the principle that the fewer stops you have, the better.

And finally,  a word of warning: Avoid, at all costs, non-protected self-transfers. These not only require you to re-check in your baggage at your transfer point, but your onward flight is done at your own risk. If you miss it, you need to buy another ticket on the spot. Transferring from one airport to another at a connection point (e.g. in Shanghai) is also not something we recommend.

Best time to fly from Los Angeles to Tokyo

sakura in Tokyo

While spring and fall are the most beautiful seasons for Japan, summer and winter are awesome in their own ways, too (just rather hot, and rather cold, respectively). When booking your flight, be aware that cherry blossom season (late March to mid-April) is busy and expensive due to everyone wanting to see the sakura . Golden Week (the bunch of national holidays at the end of April and in early May) and the New Year period can also be challenging for your credit card. Other times that should be avoided if possible are the O-bon period in mid-August and the Chinese New Year (around February). If you can’t, or don’t want to, avoid traveling around these dates, at least try to book your tickets waaayyyy in advance to get a better deal.

Arrival: Narita or Haneda?

If you have a choice between Narita and Haneda Airport for the same price, opt for Haneda. Since it’s in Tokyo, it’s probably closer to where you’re wanting to go—and it offers a nicer overall experience, too. It’s newer and all sleek and stuff. Narita is older and out in the sticks of Chiba Prefecture (next door to Tokyo Prefecture), meaning that your transfer time from the airport will be longer (and a little pricier, too). Naturally, most flights terminate in Narita, because we’re not the only ones who are budget-conscious (airlines, we’re looking at you). Have a look at our articles on the cheapest ways of getting from Haneda to Tokyo and the cheapest ways of getting from Narita to Tokyo  to compare transfer routes and rates.

Going the other way round: flights from Tokyo to Los Angeles

Obviously, with this being a route between two major metropolitan areas, there are a plethora of flight options available if you want to start and end in Tokyo instead of LA. United Airlines, Delta, Finnair, American Airlines, ANA and JAL all offer direct flights , starting at around a relatively restrained ¥ 88,290 and quickly ratcheting up to about ¥ 122,098 , with a fair number of other direct flight offering coming in well above that.

It bears repeating that prices fluctuate according to season. And, as always, faster flights are more expensive. The flight time between Tokyo and LAX is only about twelve hours on a direct flight, though (but beware of jet lag — you’re going to experience a 16-hour time difference, which might leave even the most intrepid jetsetter blinking and wondering what happened). Note: many Tokyo-LAX returns have a direct flight on the outbound route but one stopover on the return leg.

Indirect flights between Tokyo and Los Angeles are both cheaper and slower. China Eastern, Air China, Singapore Air, and Cathay Pacific all offer indirect flights for between about ¥ 69,638 and ¥ 120,647 . Keep your wits about you when booking through an airline you’re not familiar with on a route you haven’t done before — some of the cheapest tickets include eyewateringly-long layovers or, worse, changing airports at the stopover point. If you consider a frenzied dash by bus, train or taxi across Seoul or Shanghai to be better than seeing nothing of the city at all, this might work for you, but generally we advise against it.

Both direct and indirect flights to LAX are available from other cities in Japan, including Sendai ( ¥ 86,916 to about ¥ 131,328 ), Shizuoka ( ¥ 59,978 to ¥ 579,018 , which officially does not qualify as cheapo), Naha in Okinawa ( ¥ 63,398 to ¥ 131,000 ) and Osaka/KIX ( ¥ 574,435 to ¥ 114,281 ). Think carefully about booking one of these, though, because many of them, with the exception of the Naha- and Osaka-departing flights, are going to pass through Haneda or Narita Airports in Tokyo anyway.

Tokyo as a layover

Keep in mind that it’s totally possible to enjoy a short break in Tokyo as a stopover on your way to another part of Asia, Europe or somewhere else. Japan Airlines Earns 'Use It Or Lose It' USDOT Waiver For Los Angeles International Airport Flights

  • The FAA granted a temporary waiver to Japan Airlines for flights between Osaka and Los Angeles.
  • The waiver extends from March 31 to October 26, covering flights from Osaka Kansai International Airport (KIX) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
  • Japan Airlines has 19 weekly departures from LAX to three airports in Japan.

Japan Airlines has successfully petitioned for a waiver at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which granted the airline a waiver from the use-it-or-lose-it flight schedule rule for flight JL60/69 from/to Osaka Kansai International Airport (KIX) from March 31, 2024 to October 26.

Force majeure situation

According to the United States Department of Transportation’s (DOT) filing, the Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) published a waiver that provided relief from the use-it-or-lose-it (U/L) rule in January 2024. The waiver was effective for the current Summer season, which began on March 31 and will end on October 26, with the JCAB arguing that airlines had to get relief from the rule due to a force majeure situation that was,

[] beyond the control of the airlines, including, Russian airspace restrictions, aircraft maintenance required due to failure of Pratt & Whitney engines, and a shortage of airport ground handling personnel in Japan and foreign countries.

Using the opportunity, Japan Airlines filed a petition for the prioritization of canceled flights at LAX, citing the lack of ground handling employees in Japan and reciprocity for JCAB’s U/L waiver. The airline handed back the scheduled timings of flight JL60 from KIX to LAX and flight JL69 from LAX to KIX, the filing read.

Transpacific Triumphs: Breaking Down The Lucrative US-Japan Airline Market

Level 2 airport.

The filing cited the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which explained that LAX was a Level 2 airport. As a result, while such facilities, including the Californian airport, do not have slots, the schedule facilitation at such airports depends upon close and continuing discussions and voluntary agreements between the airlines and the US regulator to reduce congestion.

At Level 2 airports, the FAA generally provides priority consideration for flights approved by FAA and operated by the carrier in those approved times in the prior scheduling season when the FAA reviews proposed flights for facilitation in the next corresponding scheduling season.

Thus, the FAA stated that the flights that it had actually approved to operate in the prior scheduling season would receive priority for the corresponding scheduling season. Since Japan Airlines was a carrier based in a country that has provided relief from the U/L rule and there have been resource limitations that were beyond the airline’s control, the FAA concluded that there was enough reason to provide relief to the carrier, which would establish the operational baseline for the next summer season.

However, the relief is subject to two conditions, namely that Japan Airlines must return previously approved schedules at any Level 2 airports in advance to the FAA and that the schedules approved for initial use during the current summer season are not eligible for relief.

According to data from the aviation analytics company Cirium , Japan Airlines has 19 weekly departures from LAX to three airports in Japan, with five weekly flights to KIX, and seven flights each to Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) and Narita International Airport (NRT) in June 2024.

The airline’s schedule from LAX to the three destinations in Japan amounts to 4,268 weekly departing seats and 38.1 million weekly departing available seat kilometers (ASK), with Japan Airlines averaging 224.6 departing seats. Other airports within California that it serves include San Diego International Airport (SAN) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

Love Of Ohtani Is Bringing Thousands Of Japanese Tourists To New Corners of LA

Fans take photos beneath a new outdoor mural depicting Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani

Shift to South Bay

The tourism industry in Los Angeles, still rebounding from the pandemic, has gotten a rare gift in the form of Shohei Ohtani.

Since the baseball season started in March, Japanese fans have come by the thousands to L.A. despite a historically weak yen , in hopes of seeing the two-way star slug a home run.

The surge is apparent at the Miyako , a mid-sized, unassuming hotel in Little Tokyo that has become a top attraction for Japanese visitors because of its proximity to Dodger Stadium — just 2 miles away — and a 15-story, very ‘grammable mural of Ohtani covering one of its exterior walls.

Inside the Miyako, workers at the Okayama Kobo bakery in the lobby, sell Japanese-style pastries shaped like blue Dodger helmets while reporting that their Japanese is vastly improving from more Japanese guests coming through the door.

A photo of pastries shaped like blue Dodger helmets are arranged behind a glass case.

One traveler from Osaka, Megu Adachi, was in the lobby last week checking in with several other friends. They had tickets to watch Ohtani play, or as Adachi fondly called him, yakyu shonen — a kid obsessed with baseball.

“Baseball only!” Adachi emphasized in English.

Months after Shohei Ohtani signed a huge deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the offseason, the team fired his interpreter over gambling and theft allegations.

L.A.’s tourism industry eagerly welcomes international travelers for their tendency to stay longer and spend more than domestic visitors, said Adam Burke, president and CEO the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board .

With travel down from China, the biggest pre-pandemic source of overseas visitors to L.A., other countries such as Japan are proving to be increasingly important sources of tourism dollars.

Because of Ohtani's appeal — not to mention the Dodgers also signing of Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto — Japan this year may surpass visitor numbers for markets like the U.K. and Australia.

“We could be over 400,000 Japanese visitors," Burke said. "It would absolutely make it one of our top four international markets.”

Leading Japanese tour operator JTB alone plans to bring as many as 25,000 customers to watch Shohei play this season.

Osuke Ishiguro, who manages the agency’s L.A. office, said many customers are paying to see multiple games. Some of them are very casual baseball fans, but were stunned to see Ohtani secure his record-breaking $700 million, 10-year contract with a storied franchise.

“They found out he’s a superstar,” Ishiguro said. “So a lot of people want to just see the game, how he does and how he reacts.”

When the Dodgers are playing at home, half of the Miyako's rooms are occupied by Japanese tourists, said general manager Akira Yuhara. Before Ohtani’s arrival, they had little reason to visit Little Tokyo, Yuhara said, noting some perceive downtown as dangerous.

“Especially this area, they don't want to come,” Yuhara said.

Though it is a cultural hub for Japanese Americans that's rooted in history, Little Tokyo is not widely known in Japan, Yuhara said.

A white-haired Japanese man in a suit poses in small lobby with cream-colored marble floors.

Rather, the most famous L.A.-area attractions are Disneyland, Hollywood, Santa Monica and Universal Studios, home to the new Super Nintendo World co-designed by Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto.

Yuhara said Japanese businesspeople coming to work in L.A. typically end up staying in the South Bay, where SoCal’s Japanese American population center shifted after World War II.

It’s also where scores of Japanese companies like Honda and All Nippon Airways have located their U.S. operations, and where many of their employees live, eat, bank and shop.

Yuhara said a sister hotel he manages in Torrance has traditionally been more popular with Japanese travelers.

If they want a photographic souvenir of Ohtani, they need go no farther than neighboring Hermosa Beach, which has its own mural of the superstar.

But the pull of Ohtani has more travelers traveling up the 110 Freeway and squeezing in a stay downtown.

Two men with their backs to the camera take a photo of mural of Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers, painted on the side of a liquor store.

“Even when we don't have a game today, they go to Dodger Stadium,” Yuhara said. “They’re interested in Dodgers [merch] shopping.”

At the stadium, visitors can pick up Ohtani’s No. 17 jersey. Concession stands sell chicken katsu sandwiches and takoyaki (fried octopus.)

Signs in kanji characters dot the stadium, where tours are now given in Japanese several times a week.

The demand to see Ohtani has created unexpected new lines of business for companies such as Elite Sports Tours , which creates sports travel packages for customers.

Elite went from having "zero" bookings from Japan to, seemingly overnight, working with Japanese tour operators to secure tickets and advising on L.A. traffic, said CEO Tim Macdonell.

JTB manager Ishiguro said the gambling scandal involving Ohtani's ex-interpreter that exploded at the start of the season didn't seem to affect interest among Japanese travelers wanting to see Ohtani.

He expects even more Japanese fans will come during the summer and into the fall should Ohtani stay healthy, the Dodgers make the postseason and the yen recovers.

The agency is booking guests in and around Little Tokyo, shuttling them to and from the stadium and their hotels, Ishiguro said.

He said not since another Japanese superstar, Hideo Nomo, played for the Dodgers two decades ago have this many Japanese tourists regularly flocked to this part of town.

Yutaka Umezawa has noticed more people speaking Japanese on the street and at Daikokuya, the ramen shop where he works.

"I can hear that they're Japanese and usually they're talking about Ohtani," said Umezawa, who moved to L.A. eight years ago from Chiba.

A Japanese man wearing a black t-shirt stands in front of two hanging t-shirts, one blue one that reads Daikokuya with the number 22, one white that reads 'ramen" with the No. 17.

Outside the Miyako hotel, Tadashi Onaka was visiting the Ohtani mural with his son Yusuke, who lives in Arizona. He had traveled from Japan with the intent of seeing his son, but made sure to take a detour to L.A. so he could watch Ohtani play at home.

“He hit a run in the first inning,” Onaka recalled. ”Just getting to see it was good.”

Now he found himself in Little Tokyo, a place he was surprised to learn has existed for 140 years .

Very small, he said, and very different from Japan, he said. Rather, it's its own thing that legions of Ohtani fans are now getting to discover.

Topanga Canyon Boulevard to reopen Sunday, months ahead of schedule

A road closure that cut off Topanga residents from their main route to the coast and forced long detours will reopen Sunday, months ahead of officials’ initial estimate.

Gov. Gavin Newsom is set to announce Friday the expedited reopening of a stretch of Topanga Canyon Boulevard that was shut down after a landslide March 9 smothered the roadway with dirt, rocks and a car-sized boulder. That month, storms battered the area , causing widespread damage.

“I cannot overstate just how important it has been for the state and everyone involved to see Topanga Canyon Boulevard open as quickly and as safely as possible,” Newsom said in a statement.

Also known as State Route 27, the roadway running from Pacific Coast Highway to the 118 Freeway is heavily traveled and scenic.

Nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains, Topanga Canyon Boulevard connects Malibu with the western San Fernando Valley, and serves as the primary artery for residents of Topanga to access PCH. Local businesses, isolated by the closure, have suffered. Meanwhile, residents have had to take alternative routes that can add hours to commute times .

An aerial view of the Topanga Canyon Road landslide

Residents’ frustration was “understandable,” said Lauren Wonder, a spokesperson for the California Department of Transportation. “It was a hardship for them to move around.”

Topanga Canyon Boulevard is also the evacuation route for canyon residents, “making the reopening of this highway especially critical as fire season approaches,” Newsom’s office said in a news release.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath, whose district includes Topanga Canyon, applauded the reopening of the roadway.

“The state and county have coordinated in unprecedented ways to clear the landslide,” she said in a statement. “Governor Newsom has delivered the resources necessary for 24/7 operations that have led to this early reopening. As summer kicks off, this is welcome news, and we know the work will continue at the same speed for a full reopening.”

In partnership with the county’s Department of Economic Opportunity, Horvath said that local businesses significantly impacted by the road closure would be able to apply for relief grants up to $10,000.

“The Topanga Business Interruption Fund will give small business owners a boost while we also encourage customers to come back and shop Topanga this summer,” Horvath said.

Earlier this month, Newsom proclaimed a state of emergency to help secure federal funding to repair roads damaged by the fierce spring storms, including the two-lane highway.

Officials initially projected the closure of Topanga Canyon Boulevard between Grand View Drive and PCH would last until the fall.

New satellite missions backed by NASA, Google, SpaceX, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and other groups were announced this week and promise to advance early wildfire detection and help reduce fire damage by monitoring Earth from above.

It turned out, however, that there was less dirt, rocks and other material to remove than anticipated and the landslide wasn’t as deep as originally thought, according to Wonder.

Caltrans personnel couldn’t get to the slide area to make a more accurate estimate until the earth stopped moving, she said. The area remained unsafe for weeks .

Crews ultimately removed about 15,000 cubic yards of material — much less than the 50,000 to 90,000 they thought they would have to contend with, she said.

The type of slide that occurred is what’s known as translational, which Wonder described as “kind of like a tablecloth sliding off the table.” In other words, just the top layer of soil came down.

Once the slide came to a halt and visual assessments were made, an access road was built adjacent to the area, she said.

This allowed crews to get heavy equipment to the site and begin digging from the top down, she said.

It was still a sizable landslide, believed to be larger than another major one that occurred there in the 1940s, officials said.

According to the governor’s office, crews worked around the clock seven days a week to stabilize the area and clear the roadway.

“Thanks to the diligent efforts by the state along with crews assisting on the ground and the support of locals,” Newsom said, “this repair work has exceeded all our expectations by opening months ahead of initial estimates.”

A view of the Topanga Canyon Road landslide

On Sunday, both lanes of the road will open. There may be occasional one-way traffic control measures to complete additional repairs, officials said.

Wonder said crews might plant seeds or put cable mesh on the hill in an effort to prevent more material from coming down in that area.

“It is a constantly moving area, so we are doing our best,” Wonder said. “We are always monitoring so that we can preserve [and] protect the safety of motorists. Will this happen again? It could.”

A temporary traffic light installed on one-way Tuna Canyon Road at PCH — a detour route to the coast — will remain up for a while, she said.

Japanese Tourists Flock To LA To See Shohei Ohtani

Please try again

Here are the morning’s top stories on Wednesday, June 5, 2024…

  • The tourism industry in Los Angeles is still rebounding from the pandemic. But it’s gotten a big boost, with the arrival this year of Japanese superstar Shohei Ohtani . Since the baseball season started in March, Japanese fans have come by the thousands to L.A. despite a historically weak yen , in hopes of seeing the Dodgers star slug a home run. And many are visiting the area of Little Tokyo.
  • Votes in the election to recall the controversial conservative school board president in Temecula are still being counted. Early results show the effort to recall Joseph Komrosky winning  by a slight percent margin. Under Komrosky, the school board pushed policies to ban critical race theory and force schools to notify parents if their child is transgender.
  • State lawmakers have advanced a measure urging the President and Congress to address, with effective policies, the issue of service members who they say were unjustly discharged under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell ” and to restore benefits.

Love Of Ohtani Is Bringing Thousands Of Japanese Tourists To New Corners of LA

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani has not only been a hit on the field. He’s also having a huge impact on the local economy.

The tourism industry in Los Angeles is still rebounding from the pandemic, but thousands of Japanese tourists are visiting L.A. to see Ohtani and the Dodgers.

When the Dodgers are playing at home, half of the Miyako’s rooms are occupied by Japanese tourists. Before Ohtani’s arrival, they had little reason to visit Little Tokyo, as some perceive areas near downtown as dangerous. Though it is a cultural hub for Japanese Americans that’s rooted in history, Little Tokyo is not widely known in Japan.

Early Results Show Temecula School Board President Losing Recall Election

Early indications are that a controversial school board president in Temecula will be recalled.

Although votes are still being counted, the effort to recall Joseph Komrosky is winning by a slight margin .

Komrosky was elected in 2022 along with two other candidates all backed by a conservative Christian PAC. Under Komrosky, they pushed policies to ban critical race theory and force schools to notify parents if their child is transgender. They also sparred with Governor Gavin Newsom over social studies curriculum because it mentions gay civil rights leader Harvey Milk.

If Komrosky is recalled, the board can either appoint a new member or hold a special election.

Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Measure Moves Forward In Sacramento

A measure urging the President and Congress to address the issue of service members who they say were unjustly discharged under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” has passed the state Senate.

It also asks to restore their benefits. Merced Democratic Senator Anna Caballero introduced the measure. She said many veterans that were discharged under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” lost access to their military benefits, such as healthcare, college tuition assistance and retirement benefits.

“Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was enacted in 1994. The policy prohibited military personnel from discriminating against or harassing closeted homosexual or bisexual service members or applicants, while barring openly gay, lesbian, or bisexual persons from military service. It led to the discharge of more than 14,000 service members. In 2010, President Obama signed a repeal of the policy into law, which went into effect the next year.

Top 5 airlines serving from japan to los angeles.

Crews were great but food not much selection just all tailored for Asian passengers.

plus: service and personal assistance minus: online check-in did not work

My overall experience with Singapore Airlines is great. Will definitely fly Singapore airline again.

Great to have actual hot tastey meal on a flight. Well done

It was a great flight Food was great Crew was spectacular

When boarding, after business class should be premium economy, but economy class already lined-up at the gate blocking premium economy to board. Singapore airline crew should done a better job to organize this chaos :( Thank you.

It seems paying premium economy does not make difference with economy. No priority boarding, not worthy paying extra$$$ for premium economy.

Flying with Singapore airlines is always excelllent - the crew are lovely and the food too is great. It’s my number 1 airline

They were able to assist my elderly father and myself after not being able to check in to scoot. The counter service was phenomenal. They did what they could to get us on the next plane so we could catch our Connecting flight. Scoot closed early on us so we ended up missing our flight.

They are great with every aspect of customer service. Helped my elderly father and aided him with using the restroom.

Your crew could maybe answer the call bell at least one of the times I pressed it. I pressed it first time with 2.5 hours left in our flight bc my partner was hungry and wanted a sandwich. We finally got the sandwich with 40 mins left in the flight.

The Flight crew didn’t serve us until about 1.5 hours into the flight because of turbulence but after it ended it was fine to move around. They served us water only and snacks and then NEVER, NOT ONE TIME came through to collect trash until right before landing about 1.5 hours later. There was absolutely no need for that. They crew was just standing around talking and visiting with each other and really never tried to see if we might want something besides water or even try to come pick up trash. This is VERY unusual for a Delta flight but it was not what I would have expected for a 4 hour flight.

There was a loud squeaky sound the whole time we were flying.

I didn’t like that I could not select my seat and was assigned a seat when I checked in at LAX

Great experience overall. Check in at Austin was congested as they only have about 6 check in kiosks, one was broken, and there was a lot of Spring Break travelers.

I was sitting at comfort +. One of the Asian male crew was so loud when he delivered service. When he asked questions or what food you need, he was shouting. He must be a prison guard before going Delta.

Bag drop off was slow and annoying. Only 2 agents at the entire delta desk, and no one directing traffic for what line to be in, many confused people slowed down the process. Boarding was fine. Seats in Delta comfort plus were fine. Snacks were great! Definitely a bonus. The entertainment system was awful — old, slow, not responsive, and completely unable to play games due to some kind of error. But on the other hand, thank you to Delta for the free WiFi. That made it better.

Space and comfort was good. Staff could have been more helpful and friendly.

Crew was great. However the seat I had would not recline and stay put. It would spring back to upright. Hopefully they can check the seats and maintain them. Otherwise the plane is clean and the crew is very friendly.

Boarding in Seattle is always a mess. Sat in Deltas new domestic first class cabin. Everything was great except I found the seat cushion to be fairly uncomfortable. I’m a bigger guy so take that into mind (6’2” / 300 lbs.). Crew was meh.

Flighty delayed on boarding - then group 1 had to check their carry on bags but groups 3 and beyond could carry bags on - very inconvenient for weekend business trip with no checked baggage. Then delayed on the runway - before take off. No communication from pilot on why or how long. Wifi/Entertainment didn't work for 4+ flight. Upon arrival, attendants announced wrong carousel for baggage claim - everyone was waiting at the wrong place for their checked bags. This was a mess united!

Check in etc was very good. As for on the plane, it was like flying in a freezer. It was so cold, i have flown for years and never been so cold on a plane. Staff on board said its always cold when flying which is a load of rubbish. They wouldnt put any heating on and now i have the flu because of this .

Our original business class flight was cancelled so we not only downgraded but we were also spread out across the plane not sitting together in separate middle seats. My poor kids were scared and couldn’t see me on the flight and the crew wasn’t sensitive to the situation and what the airlines did to us. Very dissatisfied with United airlines.

The WiFi didn’t work and the seats are too close together. Very uncomfortable.

On time every leg of the journey and exceptional staff at counter, gate, and on board. I haven’t travelled in US for a long time and was genuinely surprised how pleasant this was.

Too many fees (but that seems to apply to all airlines nowadays)

Over two hours wait to get wheelchair assistance from arrival to the departure gate for LA was unreasonable even though there appreared to be heavy demand.

I was duped into thinking it was a United Airlines flight when in fact United had nothing to do with it.

There was no lounge for passengers waiting before boarding the aircraft at F65, so passengers are just sitting on the floor or just spread everywhere the premises before boarding.

The flight and crew were fine. The entertainment- the sound was so bad through the headphones I could barely understand it and it was a show I had seen before. The food might have been fine but having to have an account with united in order to access the app in order to pay for the food was rage inducing. I had entered my credit card info at home and logged in as guest but that wouldn’t allow the “wallet” tab to open in the app. And then the wifi was so bad that it took about 45 minutes to fully log in and get all the info working at which time I missed the food. You shouldn’t have to give your address, email and phone number in order to get a hamburger.

My husband and I pre-ordered our food, but they did not have my husband’s order, and my cheese plate was very average. I asked for a blanket and was told they don’t carry blankets on domestic routs. The flight was on time and smooth!

There were delays on both ends. It made it less than excellent. This plane was great though

Fight crew was not very attentive and the bastions were gross!

Our flight was great we left Kona earlier and got into LAX almost an 1hour earlier as well. LAX AA is in repair so to get out and found our bus to get pick up was a bit confusing.

amazing! they were so kind and allowed us to sit on empty seats so we could stretch our legs and sleep good. Food is amazing as well plus dessert in the middle of the flight!

5 hour flight - full flight - not enough room to use my computer - slightly delayed - Admirals club was excellent quality food, drink made up for flight seating. No food offerred on flight, you ahd to prebook.

We experience delays on departure and connecting flights resulting in 14 hour to our next departure. We were accommodated with a night's stay but was only provided a 12 dollar meals accommodation. The airlines rules state.at least 50 dollars. In any case, it can not make up for the whole day missed on our vacation in Sydney Australia.

I can say I will not be taking this airline again any time soon. Seat were uncomfortable and too tight. Lack of chair screen and little overhead space.

American Airlines canceled the flight twice and was unable to facilitate a change of city for us after our travel plans became affected. We lost alot of money due to this and it seems like the airline was trying their best not to facilitate this. Mind you, I am a very loyal member.

Poor availability of food. Cold cabin temperature. Extremely long waiting time for a flight attendant to respond to a call button signal.

You get what you pay for and nothing more. Wanted a cheap flight and that’s exactly what I got, though it’s human nature to wanting to feel like you got a good deal as well. There was none of that here. I was cheap and they were too. Got to my destination safely and that’s all that really matters.

Nice service. I wish it could provide hot water on the flight.

internet didn't work. No offer of drinks or snacks.

Flight was seamless. Free wifi helped pass the time. Food was okay, just make sure you pre order or pick something up from the airport

Internet connection very poor, means you can not even order items through their own shop.

Paid for business class lay flat seat. Significantly less comfortable than other carriers. No built in entertainment or WiFi. I barely saw flight attendants at all and they wanted to charge me for a bottle of water if i wanted more than what came with the meal (that i also paid extra for). Essentially you’re just paying for a slightly more comfortable seat than the rest of the plane and nothing else

Wifi could have been better. Arrived 55 mins earlier than scheduled :)

Best part are two crying babies throughout the whole 11 hour trip

Clean and comfortable cabin. Friendly on board service. No vegetarian food options and movie options were very limited. Internet was very slow
