The Tour Edge Hot Launch C524 is an incredible driver that delivers excellent results at a competitive price point which could potentially compete with the best drivers on the market.

Aesthetically, the C524 is a great-looking driver. The ridgeback technology not only provides increased structural integrity to the clubhead—it also frames the ball beautifully with the 'ridge' providing a handy alignment aid. Plus, the carbon effect really creates a premium feel to the finish.

Technology? Let's start with Tour Edge’s Diamond Face VFT technology. This features 35 different diamond shapes that essentially act as “mini-trampolines” behind the face to increase ball speed. a sole rail design extends from the leading to trailing edge which lowers the CG to increase launch and ball speed.

How does it feel? The C524 produced a lively and solid thud with a reasonably high-pitched impact noise. It wasn't too high, but it was noticeably higher Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Family  or the TaylorMade Qi10 range .

The combination of solid performance, an excellent aesthetic and a premium make the Tour Edge Hot Launch C524 a great driver at a remarkably modest price. We think there's some serious value here and would therefore recommend it as best drivers for beginners we've tried.

Tour Edge Exotics E723 Driver

The “E” in its name stands for Extreme Spec, meaning it’s designed to help average golfers to the extreme. This ultra-premium 460cc driver is also crammed with technology, such as an extreme low-and-rear CG position that produces an extremely high MOI of 5600 g/cm2 – that’s the highest MOI driver Tour Edge has ever made, making it one of the  most forgiving drivers  around.

There are also multiple other technological aspects, like a Flight Tuning System and thin titanium ridgeback spine running from the center of the face through the crown which, in testing, produced an easy to flight trajectory, as well as a solid impact sound and long distance. 

Along with the performance, the E723 has a very long crown from face to rear, with the graphics of the crown, a black stripe down the middle flanked by a weaved dark graphite pattern, framing the ball nicely. Overall, we thought it was pleasing to the eye, especially as the face seems nice and tall and the clubhead felt rather substantial through our swing.

Tour Edge Exotics C723 Driver

Whereas the E in the E723 stands for Extreme Spec, the C in the C723 stands for Competition Spec, meaning this driver is for more advanced players. Despite this, out of the box, we found it to be one of the most adjustable player’s drivers on the market, with this low-spin model loaded with tech. 

We thought the aesthetics were stealthy and attractive to look at when addressed behind the ball. The darker band down the middle nicely frames the alignment you want to swing through, with the thin titanium ridgeback spine running from the center of the face and crown. 

Performance-wise, we found there to be a lot of adjustability options and, when we swapped the standard 5-gram front and 15-gram rear weights, it resulted in a change of around 300rpm of spin. We could also slide the rear CG weight to one of five positions which influenced a fade or draw up to seven yards. On the course, this driver felt extremely solid with respect to feel and impact sound - a box that all the  best golf drivers  tick.

Tour Edge Exotics E722 Driver

The Tour Edge Exotics E722 driver was designed to offer golfers the ultimate in playability and forgiveness. Keying that performance is a low, deep CG placement that has been made possible by a lightweight carbon fiber crown and a 30-gram fixed weight in the back of the sole. That combination offers incredibly high MOI, which results in more accurate golf shots regardless of strike location.

Do not assume, however, that the E722 driver is a one-trick pony. Certainly, the forgiveness it provides is a standout feature, but this driver also delivers when it comes to ball speed. Tour Edge’s Diamond Face VFT clubface design utilizes 61 diamond-shaped sections that vary in thickness. The diamonds, which Tour Edge says act as mini trampolines, deliver consistent ball speeds from strike locations across the clubface.

Tour Edge also has worked hard to improve the sound and feel of the E722 driver by utilizing an internal ribbing system to diffuse sound at impact. Additionally, while the E722 might be described as a game improvement driver, it also offers the customization that better players want. The E722’s adjustable sleeve features eight settings that allow golfers to adjust loft by +/- 2 degrees and lie angle by 3 degrees to help anyone achieve exactly what they’re looking for in terms of launch, spin, and shot shape.

Tour Edge Exotics E723 Iron

The E723 is an ultra-premium, very sleek-looking,  game-improvement iron  that is loaded with technology. The most notable aspect of technology is Tour Edge's VIBRCOR – which is a TPU that’s strategically injected into the hollow body, deep 360-degree undercut pocket to provide excellent feel. 

In testing, we were extremely impressed with the forgiveness on offer. Regardless of where the ball was struck, the VIBRCOR on the back of the clubhead and the Diamond Face VFT, which comprises 92 diamond shapes of three different thicknesses behind the face, meant it was extremely lively on the expanded sweet spot.

At address, we thought that the look was very confidence-inspiring. Most notably, there’s a slight bulge low and an inviting amount of offset, with a thick topline also giving freedom to swing hard at the ball. In testing, it was super easy to hit and the shots got airborne with distance very well.

We found it still had full-face forgiveness and ball speed though, with the Diamond Face VFT also present throughout. Again, in testing, the impact experience was certainly very addictive, with the ball springing off the face with a powerful yet subtle sensation. Importantly, it was not too loud or harsh and we thought it was comparable with the  best compact mid-handicap irons . 

As mentioned, it is slightly smaller at address, but Tour Edge have constructed the C723 out of high-strength, military grade maraging steel. This helps make way for a significantly thinner face, the thinnest in any Exotics iron ever and also helped dramatically increase face flex across a larger surface area of the clubface. This meant we were able to eke out a lot of distance when struck properly.

Most golfers aren’t trying to win THE PLAYERS Championship. They’re just trying to become better players. The Black Ops irons are constructed with a dual cavity design that’s internally filled with the company’s proprietary XCOR2 Polymer Core technology. The outer cavity is made with an insert that’s designed to save weight from the center of the head to boost perimeter weighting, which helps increase forgiveness on heel-toe misses, and on high-low misses.

For amateur golfers, this means the club is designed to help out when you miss the center of the face.

As with all of PXG’s irons, the Black Ops irons are constructed with ultra-thin faces for fast speeds, but these heads are specifically designed with low-and-back CG (center of gravity) to help increase launch and low-spin performance. They also have thicker top rails, large faces, increased offset and large soles that help amateur golfers enhance their turf interaction in a variety of playing conditions. This will help keep the clubs from digging, eliminating the dreaded fat shots and helping the club glide through the turf to improve contact with the ball.

The bodies of the Black Ops irons are made from 431 stainless steel, whereas the faces are made from thin, high-strength HT1770 Maraging Grade Stainless Steel. Remember, the ultra-thin faces are supported by the internal XCOR2 polymer for increased feel and ball speed.

Internationals flip script, Scott makes history, Day’s clutch chip - Presidents Cup wrap

The International team have roared back to life with a stunning clean sweep of Friday’s five foursomes matches to level up the overall score 5-5 at the Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal Golf Club.

The Americans flexed their muscles when it mattered most in several close Thursday four-ball matches, but the Internationals blew them away on the second day of competition with a sweep of their own which included a series of empathetic victories.

Australian veterans Adam Scott and Jason Day played a pivotal role in the fight back with Scott forming a formidable partnership with Canadian Taylor Pendrith in the alternate shot format, while Day pulled off a clutch shot at the last as an International pair matched history for the biggest winning margin ever.

SPARK THE EVENT NEEDED?

Many golf commentators were quick to criticise the Presidents Cup for its historical American dominance, but the Internationals showed how much fighting spirit they have with a whirlwind performance.

Their stunning comeback into the contest made it the first time in Presidents Cup, Ryder Cup or Solheim Cup history that there have been back-to-back clean sweeps.

The turnaround from the Internationals has been hailed throughout the golf world with golf writer Dan Rapaport posting on X that “rumours of the Presidents Cup’s demise were greatly exaggerated”.

Golf Digest senior writer Joel Beall expressed similar sentiments on X.

“Extremely cool for the Internationals,” he said. “They’ve gotten their asses kicked for the better part of 30 years and yesterday might have been the low point. To answer like they did today takes trues gumption.

“We have a Presidents Cup!”

SCOTT MAKES MORE HISTORY

In his record 11th Presidents Cup appearance for the Internationals, Adam Scott added yet another notch to his belt as he became the Interntional player with the most points in Presidents Cup history.

Scott overtook Ernie Els with 22 points, and he achieved the milestone by teaming up with Taylor Pendrith and they never trailed in their brilliant 5&4 win against Sahith Theegala and Collin Morikawa.

The veteran and local hero pairing was rock solid only losing one hole for the match and that came after they opened up a three-hole lead with a hat-trick of birdies at the fourth, fifth and sixth.

Another three-hole burst to start the back nine of birdie-par-birdie to take their lead to five effectively killed off the contest and Scott praised the lift in energy from the Canadian crowd after they were criticised for being too quiet on Thursday by International team member Tom Kim.

“I had a good feeling about this when we were up here a couple weeks ago scouting,” Scott said.

“We played a little bit, felt easy to me. I’ve played with lots of different guys, and I knew that we were going to be a good pairing, and the captains seemingly found a lot of good pairings in this format today. But felt easy.

“The momentum got going our way, and in this format, that’s a big advantage. Happy to close it out like we did.

“Yeah, we heard the crowd for sure. We got off to a good start, and the energy is there. We hear it again now.

“It’s a nice feeling because yesterday was flat. We didn’t give them too much to cheer about. But today hopefully this is the start of a great weekend.”

DAY COMES UP CLUTCH

Jason Day and Christian Bezuidenhout looked like they were letting their match slip.

They led by three with six holes to play but found themselves on the 18th green with a one-up lead after Day sprayed his tee shot into the water on 16 and Bezuidenhout did the same on 17.

When the South African’s approach into the green on the final hole went long and left, and it left the pair needing a clutch up-and-down and thankfully for the Internationals, the former world number one was up for the occasion.

Day’s chip from the rough rolled to tap-in range to all-but guarantee a par and victory against Max Homa and Brian Harmon which was setup by birdies at the first, seventh, eighth and 12th holes.

The Australian let out a mighty roar in celebration as he ran up the hill to see where the ball ended up, and it was an out-pouring of emotion that showed how much it meant to Day to be playing in the Presidents Cup for the first time since 2017.

“Honestly not sure I’ve ever seen Jason Day as fired up as he was after that pitch on 18,” PGA Tour Radio commentator Jason Sobel said on X.

“Fun to watch.”

Post-round Day spoke about what was going through his mind as he stood over the ball.

“I was really honestly just trying to picture the flight and just throwing my awareness as far as I possibly could out towards the target,” he said.

“Once you get a little bit too technical and too internalized at the ball, that’s when you start to think too much, so I was trying to push it out as far as possible, think about the flight and where it was landing, and fortunate to hit a good shot there.”

Day also expressed his belief that the International team are well-aligned now and will be hard to stop across the weekend.

“Obviously we’re pumped. Everyone is pumped. We were out on the chipping green last night and singing and everything,” he said.

“Like I said, the leadership has been fantastic. Mike, all the vice captains, from the young guys to the old guys on the team, the veterans, we’ve kept our spirits high, and that’s what’s awesome to see.

“I haven’t seen a team like this with such gratitude, to be able to be here and play, and just share emotions. Everyone is pulling in the right direction now.”

MATSUYAMA AND IM MATCH HISTORIC WIN

Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im matched the Presidents Cup record for the largest winning margin with a 7&6 demolition of Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay.

The American pair have been superb together since they first formed their partnership at the 2019 Presidents Cup, but their reunion held no fears for Matsuyama and Im who started the Internationals run of momentum.

In the first match of the day, the International pairing won the first, second, fourth, sixth and eighth holes to be five-up at the turn.

They also won the 10th and 11th holes and then showed how invincible they were today by matching the American duo’s birdie at the 12th to end the match with a seventh consecutive birdie.

Their ball-striking was phenomenal, so too was their putting, and Im said post-round that it was a credit to the International team’s ability to pick themselves up after their opening day disappointment.

“Yesterday the beginning was not really a nice beginning, but today from the beginning our vibe was vibing and we were trying to win the match,” Im said.

“With Hideki our teamwork was amazing. When I would hit the shot, he would finish with the putt, so it was a great job.“
