Tate McRae Announces Sophomore Album & 2024 World Tour Dates

Tate McRae has announced the release of her sophomore album THINK LATER . On Monday, November 6th, the singer revealed that the project is set to drop on December 8th. "We’re here guys. my sophomore album. this album means sooo much to me and i can’t believe it’s so close to coming out," she wrote in a heartfelt announcement post on Instagram. "Writing this whole thing was one of the most stressful, exciting, nerve racking, and fun things i’ve ever gone through. for the first time in my life i lived this year a little less with my head and a little more with my intuition - and i rlly hope u guys can feel that through the music."

She continued, "Through the biggest highs of my life to the lowest of lows - i feel so happy that it is now gonna be yours <3 here’s to 20 years old and figuring who the f—k i am haha."

McRae also revealed she'll be taking the album on the road next year on the THINK LATER World Tour. Pre-sale for fans in the US starts on Tuesday, November 7th for American Express cardmembers and general on-sale begins Friday, November, 10th, at 10:00 A.M. local time.

The global star in the making receives her inauguration into Pop royalty by the princess herself, the incomparable and undeniable Ms. Britney Spears

In the beginning, God created heaven, earth, and Britney Spears.

OK – that’s a stretch, but Spears is largely responsible for inspiring the “Pop Star” archetype as we know it today. So when the international phenomenon agreed to interview Tate McRae, this issue’s cover star, it only confirmed the latter’s future as one of Pop’s biggest new players.

The 20-year-old Canadian has given several nods to Spears throughout her career, citing her as an inspiration for songs and music videos like McRae’s hit single “exes.” The applauded performer places the same emphasis on cho- reography as she does on the music itself, another similarity to Spears who—at exactly McRae’s age—was releasing “I’m a Slave 4 U” and “Overprotected,” thus cementing her place in the Pop pantheon the same way McRae is doing today.

McRae, who is currently on a massive, sold-out global tour, has already had a behemoth of a year with over a billion streams on her single “greedy,” plus the much-anticipated release of her sophomore album THINK LATER . With each new accolade, McRae makes one thing more and more clear: she’s here to show us what Pop’s been missing.

BRITNEY SPEARS : You’re an incredible performer. I’ve seen some of your performances and each one continues to top the next. Where do you find inspiration?

TATE MCRAE: Wow! Thank you so much. That means so much coming from you. I find that a lot of the inspiration comes from the musical arrangement. One of my favorite parts of the process is playing around and finding new variations of each song—I feel like that always inspires new choreography and a different feeling. However, looking back at iconic performances (like yours) is also very motivating.

BS: Your song, “you broke me first,” is one of my favorite songs. What is the story behind the song and what inspired you to write and record it?

TM: That means the world to me. I actually wrote “you broke me first” when I was 16 and had never experienced real heartbreak before— only on a small scale. It stemmed from a couple of different places, like taking inspiration from friendships or situation-ships, and they all left me with the same feeling—dealing with someone wanting your relationship back, after giving them your all and them not recognizing it. It’s a sad but empowering feeling afterward.

BS: How did you fall in love with music and dance?

TM: I’ve always been surrounded by music and dancing. My mom owned a dance studio when I was super young so I was constantly in the presence of older dancers who I admired. Becoming a performer was all I ever wanted to do, for as long as I can remember.

BS: What is the hardest part about being an artist of your stature at this point?

TM: I would say the pressure I put on myself. I have been a perfectionist my entire life, so sometimes the hyper-critical thoughts can fully consume you. I try to trust my gut as much as possible and not take in that many outside opinions.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The official 2024 Lollapalooza aftershows have been unveiled.

Tickets for the concerts go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

They include Kesha at the House of Blues and Chappell Roan at The Vic on Wednesday, July 31; Dillon Francis X Valentino Khan at Radius Friday, Aug. 2; Tate McRae with Mimi Webb at House of Blues and Two Door Cinema Club with Worry Club at the Metro Saturday Aug. 3; and Zeds Dead with Jessica Audiffred b2b Nostalgix, Eddie at Radius Sunday, Aug. 4, among many others.

This year's Lolla is being headlined by SZA, Tyler the Creator, Blink 182, The Killers, Future X, Metro, Boomin, Hozier, Stray Kids, Melanie Martinez and Skrillex.

The popular music festival will run Aug. 1 through 4 in Grant Park.

Tyler the Creator and Hozier will headline Thursday night, SZA and Stray Kids will headline Friday, The Killers, Future X and Metro Boomin will headline Saturday and Blink-182 and Melanie Martinez will close out the festival on Sunday night. There will also be a special performance from Skrillex on Saturday.

The four-day festival also features performances from more than 170 other bands and artists from all over the world across eight stages. To see the complete lineup for each day, click here .

As Tate McRae graces their cover, they somehow got Britney Spears to chat with her. Tate has been compared to the pop star because of her electric performances. And we even asked her about it. 

Is that a compliment to you? Do you look up to Britney?

Tate McRae:

Obviously it's such an honor. Um, I mean, I literally adore her, I read her book. I literally just love everything about her, I've watched all her performances and her videos and yeah, I think she's an icon.

But now she's questioned by the Queen herself. Britney stated, "You're an incredible performer. I've seen some of your performances and each one continues to top the next. Where do you find inspiration?" With Tate responding, "That means so much coming from you.
