Ferry From HAVELOCK ISLAND (SWARAJDWEEP) to PORT BLAIR
Ferry from neil island (shaheed dweep) to havelock island (swarajdweep), ferry from neil island (shaheed dweep) to port blair, ferry from port blair to havelock island (swarajdweep).
M. V Green Ocean is a new ferry that was launched in the mid-2015 to help travelers move from one island to the other in an economical way. This is quite similar to the Government ferry, but with better seating and space.
Green Ocean 1 is the only private cruise to have an open deck where you can get a panoramic view of the open sea during the ride from Port Blair to Havelock and return. You can get outside your seating space to the open deck to get better views, entertainment, and dance to the music.
The total seating capacity is 198 seats divided into four different classes of seating Lower Deck- Economy, Executive & Upper Deck- Luxury and Royal Class. This ferry puts forward an altogether different experience for travelers visiting the Andaman Island. The best part about this ferry is that it has plenty of space for travelers to walk around during their ride. With fast cruises (Makruzz and Coastal Cruise) such options are not available.
The seats are comfortable, spacious, and the passengers can travel at ease throughout the entire trip. The cruise has a pantry for some snacks and beverages for the passengers, televisions on each deck, and a music system for entertainment. You have the choice of choosing your seats while booking your ferry tickets.
We recommend photographers to opt for Green Ocean 1 during your return from Havelock as the sunset view is incredible around this time for capturing some amazing stills of the sunset. Since Green Ocean 1 has an open deck it moves very slowly and it is the slowest among all the other cruises. The ferry takes around 2 hours and 15 Minutes to reach Havelock from Port Blair and vice-versa.
We suggest you choose Green Ocean 1 for your journey at least once to experience the open deck journey from Havelock to Port Blair as the views, feels, and the beauty of Andamans from a different perspective.
We will make best efforts to book a window seat for all the bookings made. However, the same cannot be guaranteed. Please note that we are not responsible for any issues concerning the change in timings from the ferry authorities. We will update you and make alternative arrangements in such situations. A scanned copy of the document is sent to your email ID. This ticket can be used to board the ferry.
Terms & Conditions
- Passengers should carry a valid photo ID Card at the time of check-in.
- Check-in Counter closes 15 minutes before departure
- Boarding closes 10 minutes before departure

Very bad experience. They committed literal fraud with their passengers. Switched the cruise from green ocean 1 to green ocean 2 at no notice, with cheaper seats. Green ocean 1 has an open deck and is costlier, green ocean 2 is smaller. Also the interiors are old and dirty. Have a look yourself. Even though we had premium seats booked, they allotted us cheaper seats. On confrontation, ship staff said they don't know about this, they only manage the ship and that we should contact the office. I have sent an email requesting compensation. Will update how it goes. Update: After filing a consumer forum complaint, they refunded the difference. Please do file a complaint if their response is lackadaisical.
Thank you green ocean seaways for your great experience and we enjoyed the ferry brave service and staffs are very good Preeti and sneha are very polite thank you for music system dj 😀 I hope we will come again
Crew was very friendly and cooperative. Atmosphere was really nice and joyful. Their service was fast and on time they are really helpful . One of the staff named SnehA 😘was very calm and loving.never Had a wonderful sea journey 🥳🤩

AC is not sufficient in cabin, they have switched on fan and it's also not sufficient. Lower than Nautika ⛴️ ferry services

Comfortable ferry in andaman! - A little expensive than the government ferry. It had cost me 1000 from havelock to neil for premium class. - The staff are professional, and in uniform. And they smile a lot. - Make sure to check in from their office(very close to jetty) before boarding. The pdf copy received online isn't enough. I've reduced one star because i wasn't informed of this earlier. - Small bags can be carried with you. Other luggage should be given to staff as they keep it separately in luggage section of the ferry. - We were moved to royal class which had thick and more comfortable sofa seats. - Outside on the deck there was music and dance. And such a chill vibe, everyone young and old happily dancing. Expect hindi songs. - They also have a food and drinks counter on the deck. - Nice, clean toilets. Note: My use of their "Green Ocean 2" ferry was on 18/4/2023 from havelock to neil.
Green ocean ship to havelock island is better mode of transport than the government ferries. Passengers are allowed to move to dock and have the beautiful view outside during off season rides. Some people can catch sea sickness easily being on dock. All classes of tickets have AC interiors and TV for entertainment

Choosing The Best Ferry Service To Travel Between The Andaman Islands
Introduction
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands comprise a collection of 572 islands, with Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil Island being the most popular destinations for tourists. If you plan to visit the Andaman Islands, these three islands are a must-see. Port Blair serves as the capital of the Andaman Islands and acts as the main entry and exit point. Once you arrive in Port Blair, you can explore Havelock and Neil Island. The primary modes of transportation to reach either Port Blair or Neil Island are ferries, some of which are referred to as cruises. Among the available options are well-known cruise companies such as Makruzz, Nautika, Green Ocean, and ITT Majestic, alongside government-operated ferries. In this article, we will discuss and compare these available options to determine the best choice for your travel needs.

Makruzz is the oldest privately owned ferry service in the islands, boasting a fleet of three ships: Makruzz, Makruzz Gold, and Makruzz Pearl. Makruzz holds the distinction of being the first private company to establish standards in this industry, serving as a trailblazer for others to follow. While some companies have surpassed their achievements, others have not been as successful.
The vessel Makruzz, acquired in 2009, has a capacity of 280 people. Makruzz Gold, with a capacity of 333 passengers, was acquired in 2016. The latest addition to the fleet is Makruzz Pearl, acquired in 2018, which can accommodate 250 passengers.
All three ships are fully air-conditioned and feature theater-style seating arranged in rows with comfortable seats. Makruzz and Makruzz Gold consist of two decks, while Makruzz Pearl has a single deck.
Nautika is one of the newest ferry services in the Andaman Islands, and it has surprised the industry with its exceptional service. The Nautika fleet consists of two vessels: Nautika and Nautika Lite. Nautika, built in 2021 and acquired in 2022, is a completely air-conditioned twin-deck vessel that spans 33 meters in length and can accommodate up to 285 passengers. On the other hand, Nautika Lite was introduced in 2018. Similar to Nautika, Nautika Lite is also fully air-conditioned, twin-decked, and has a passenger capacity of 205.
Green Ocean
Green Ocean represents a distinct category of ferry compared to the aforementioned options. Green Ocean 1 stands out by offering unique open deck accessibility, a feature that no other ferry provides. This vessel comprises three decks, all of which are fully air-conditioned. It has a seating capacity of 316 passengers. On the other hand, Green Ocean 2 accommodates up to 198 passengers and lacks open deck accessibility, unlike Green Ocean 1.
ITT Majestic
ITT Majestic is a fully air-conditioned, single-deck vessel that spans 33 meters in length. With a seating capacity of 200, it is the sole ferry operated by the company, serving the route between Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil Island.

What is the difference between Luxury and Royal Class and what should you prefer?
In addition to the price and location, the main differentiating factor between the two classes is the reduced number of seats in the Royal Class. It is important to note that both classes offer the same breathtaking view from their large panoramic windows. If you prefer a less crowded atmosphere, the Royal Seats are the perfect choice for you. However, it is worth considering that during rough sea conditions, you may experience the motion more prominently in the Royal Class.
What is the difference between Premium, Deluxe and Royal Class and what should you prefer?
The Premium class is located on the lower deck, while the Deluxe and Royal classes are situated on the upper deck. The difference between the Premium and Deluxe classes is similar to that of the Nautika class. However, the Royal class stands out with its private cabins, which feature spacious and comfortable leather seats, ensuring a high level of privacy.
Green Ocean
What are the difference between various class seating?
Economy class on Green Ocean 1 and Premium Class on Green Ocean 2 are located on the lower deck. The Economy class does not have windows, while the Luxury class on Green Ocean 1 and Deluxe Class on Green Ocean 2, situated on the middle deck, offer windows for passengers to enjoy the view. The Royal class on both vessels is located on the upper deck, providing passengers with windows and comfortable leather seats.
Economy class tickets are much cheaper than those for the other ferries. Therefore, if budget is a concern, choosing the Economy class is advisable. In fact, you don't need to remain in the enclosed cabin throughout the journey. After 10 minutes of sailing, you can head to the open deck to breathe in fresh air and enjoy the scenic view.
Note: The rates for the next season are not disclosed yet.
Difference between Majesty and Silver Class.
The vessel has a single deck. The difference between both the classes is just extra leg space.
- Price: In terms of price, Green Ocean takes the top spot, followed by ITT Majestic, while Nautika and Makruzz are comparatively more expensive.
- Service: Nautika has set a new benchmark for service quality. The crew onboard is always ready to assist, exhibiting exceptional cooperation and exemplary behavior. Additionally, if seats are available, you may even receive a free upgrade without any additional charge.
- Comfort: Once again, Nautika takes the lead in terms of comfort. The vessel is new and impeccably clean, offering flawless visibility through the windows.
- Seating Options: Makruzz provides a wider range of seating options. Its Royal cabin offers privacy, which can be particularly beneficial for celebrities or those seeking enhanced seclusion.
- Speed: For the journey from Port Blair to Havelock, Makruzz, Nautika, and ITT Majestic take approximately 1.5 hours, while Green Ocean requires approximately 2 hours 15 minutes.

Why do we recommend Green Ocean Private ferry over Government ferries?
As mentioned earlier, we as localities feel that for a more relaxed and hassle-free holiday experience, it’s advisable to opt for private ferries which primarily work for the travellers. The government ones are designed mainly for local transportation and may not be the ideal choice for tourists. Go2Andaman does not facilitate bookings for government ferry tickets. If you plan to use them, tickets can be purchased upon arrival offline counters. Keep in mind that ticket queues tend to form early in the morning, and if you find yourself at the back of the line, there’s a chance that seats may be occupied by the time your turn arrives. Moreover, having only limited seats, the tickets on government ferries are booked months in advance, sometimes the waiting is 4-6 months.

History of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk
Foundation of yuzhno-sakhalinsk.
The Russians first visited Sakhalin Island in 1742. In 1805, the Russian-American Company sent Adam Johann von Krusenstern, a Russian admiral and explorer, to Sakhalin to hoist the Russian flag on the island. Officially, neither Russia nor Japan claimed Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. In 1855, a treatise on friendship and the border was signed in Shimoda, which marked the beginning of diplomatic relations between Russia and Japan. According to it, Sakhalin remained jointly owned by the two countries.
The settlement of Sakhalin by Russians was mainly due to exiled convicts. In 1869, Sakhalin was officially declared a place of exile and hard labor. In 1875, the St. Petersburg Treaty was signed between the Russian Empire and Japan, according to which Sakhalin completely went to Russia and the Kuril Islands - to Japan.
In 1881, according to the order of the military governor of the Primorsky region, Major Vladimir Yantsevich was appointed head of exiles in South Sakhalin. He received the following instructions: “For the settlement of those who are finishing their terms of hard labor, a place that is quite convenient for arable farming should be chosen. The selected site, if possible along the main road from south to north, should be planned, divided into sections and, as a new settlement, named by some permanent name.”
In 1883, Yantsevich applied for the approval of the names of four new villages founded in the south of Sakhalin: Solovyovskoe, Mitsulskoe, Vladimirovka (future Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk), and Vlasovskoe. In 1885, 57 people lived in Vladimirovka, in 1895 - 130 people. In 1897, there were 150 residential and commercial buildings here: a church, a school, a post office, a hospital, a mill, trade shops, a number of government buildings, and a lot of residential log houses.
More historical facts…
Japanese period in the history of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk
In 1905, after the defeat of the Russian Empire in the Russo-Japanese War, according to the Treaty of Portsmouth, part of Sakhalin south of the 50th parallel was ceded to the Japanese Empire and became the Karafuto Prefecture. The northern part of Sakhalin remained under the control of the Russian Empire.
In 1908, Vladimirovka was renamed Toyohara (“bountiful plain”). In 1915, the settlement received the status of a town. The Japanese made their own plan for the development of the town with a clear rectangular planning system with the direction of streets along the railway and perpendicular to it.
The building density was high, as a result, a significant number of residential buildings were without outbuildings, sheds and other ancillary buildings, as well as yards. On the outskirts of the town there was a well-maintained park with an artificial reservoir. In 1920, the population of Toyohara was 14,176 people, in 1935 - 28,459.
On February 11, 1945, Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill signed an agreement in Yalta on the conditions for the USSR’s entry into the war against Japan. Among the conditions were the return of South Sakhalin to the USSR and the annexation of the Kuril Islands. In August 1945, Soviet troops entered Toyohara.
This is what Toyohara looked like from the words of Dmitry Kryukov, head of the civil administration of South Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands, who arrived in the town in September 1945: “The town mainly consists of wooden buildings. The houses are adjacent to each other, timber-frame, plastered. Many of them look good, but they are cold.” The majority of the population were Japanese and Koreans.
Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - the capital of Sakhalin Oblast
On February 2, 1946, Yuzhno-Sakhalin Oblast was formed on the territory of South Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. On June 4, 1946, Toyohara became its administrative center. It was renamed Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (“South Sakhalin City”).
On January 2, 1947, Yuzhno-Sakhalin Oblast was liquidated and its territory was included in Sakhalin Oblast, a separate region of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. On April 18, 1947, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk became its administrative center.
In the spring of 1947, the mass repatriation of the Japanese began. By August 1, 1947, 124,308 people left Sakhalin, almost half of the local Japanese. During 1947-1949, about 400 thousand people were brought to Sakhalin from the central regions of Russia, Primorye and the Far East. By 1949, only 2,682 Japanese remained on Sakhalin - those who managed to obtain a Soviet passport. The Koreans from Sakhalin were not forcibly evicted, so most of them stayed. In 1959, the population of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk was 85,510 people.
In subsequent years, the appearance of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk changed again - the frame houses built by the Japanese were demolished. Today, except for the railway and some buildings of that time turned into museums, almost nothing reminds of the Japanese period in the history of this city.

Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - Features
Sakhalin Oblast is the only region in Russia located entirely on the islands. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk stands at some distance from the sea coast, about 25 km from the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk. Chekhov Peak (1,045 m), one of the highest peaks of Sakhalin, rises to the north-east of the city. Locals call the city simply Yuzhnyy.
Sakhalin Island is part of the temperate monsoon zone. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is located on a plain surrounded by hills, due to which its climate has certain peculiarities. In summer, it can be very hot in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and in winter, due to the lack of wind, severe frosts. The coldest month is January with an average daily temperature of minus 12.2 degrees Celsius, the warmest month is August with an average daily temperature of plus 17.3 degrees Celsius. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is equated to the regions of the Far North.
The city is located in an earthquake-prone area. The probability of strong earthquakes is relatively high. The distance from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to Moscow is 9,140 km by road and 6,640 km in a straight line.
The majority of the population is Russian, but the proportion of Koreans is also high (about 20%). Out of 43 thousand Sakhalin Koreans, most of them live in the capital of the region. In the city you can also find representatives of the indigenous peoples: Nivkhs, Ainu and Oroks, but their number is very small.
Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is the largest transport hub on Sakhalin. Anton Chekhov Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Airport offers regular flights to such cities as Vladivostok, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk, Moscow, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Seoul (South Korea), Sapporo (Japan), Tokyo (Japan).
In Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, there is a high level of air pollution due to the high motorization of the population and the location of the city in the valley, which slows down the dispersion of harmful substances.
Today, it is one of the dynamically developing cities of the Far East, the production and intellectual center of Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. Oil and natural gas production, as well as their processing, are the most important components of the local economy.
This is one of the most visited cities in the Far Eastern Federal District of Russia. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is often visited by cruise ship passengers (mostly Japanese citizens). Restaurants of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk offer dishes of Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Uzbek, Georgian, Italian cuisines.
The architecture of the period of the Karafuto Prefecture gives a special flavor to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Today, in the city there are about 40 objects of cultural heritage of this period. In the future, tourism should become the basis for the economic development of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
Special thanks to Vladislav Yarowind for the photos of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

On a cloudless day, you can even see the northern tip of the Japanese island of Hokkaido. There is a small Japanese temple at the top of the peak.
