Blink-182 celebrates all the small things on wild reunion tour in Phoenix

westgate tour reviews

As the members of Blink-182 approached the end of a second sold-out metro Phoenix date on their first tour with Tom DeLonge since he rejoined the pop-punk trio after taking nine years off, Mark Hoppus took a moment to reflect on what this tour is all about.

“This is the One More Time Tour,” he told the crowd at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale on Tuesday, July 2. “It’s a tour of our new record. But it’s also a tour that celebrates the entire history of Blink-182 and everything we’ve ever….”

As the fans went wild enough to drown out part of what the bassist said — there was some mention of “falling apart” and “friendship” — Hoppus added, “This next song is about the three of us, and it goes like this.”

With that, the stage was set for “Anthem Part 3,” the track that opens “One More Time…” with an uplifting story of “starting up a new life” and a chorus that promises, “This time, I won't be complacent.”

The guys in Blink-182 are clearly feeling pretty stoked about this whole reunion situation, bringing Tuesday’s concert to a touching finish with the title track to that new album, a song that references the cancer scare that brought them back together.

DeLonge reportedly rejoined after learning that Hoppus had been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

The new album's title track also makes lyrical reference to drummer Travis Barker’s own near-death experience — a plane crash in 2008 that left four people dead and led to Barker undergoing 16 surgeries and multiple blood transfusions, all while suffering through post-traumatic stress disorder.

“Older, but nothing's any different,” Hoppus sang at Tuesday's concert. “Right now feels the same/ I wonder why/ I wish they told us/ It shouldn't take a sickness or airplanes falling out the sky.”

An older, wiser, more reflective 'The Mark, Tom and Travis Show'

And yet, for all the growth the more reflective tracks on “One More Time…” suggest, it wouldn’t be a Blink-182 show if it didn’t also live up to the expectations they set with “The Mark, Tom and Travis Show,” a live recording that confirmed their rep as modern masters of the type of sex joke that can get a kid expelled from elementary school.

There were plenty of juvenile sex jokes to be had at Tuesday’s concert, some of which were funnier than they had any right to be.

But a lot of the funniest moments didn’t have a thing to do with sex — or body parts.

You’ve got to love a band that tells you, “It’s a lot of pressure being the best band that’s ever walked the face of the Earth.”

And then, after asking if anyone’s parents had divorced when they were kids, I believe it was Hoppus who deadpanned, “Sad to say, it’s my duty to inform you, it’s your fault.”

They also joked that the Coyotes were “too afraid to play the same arena that we play in, and I’m sorry about that,” promising, “I’m gonna have a word with the Coyotes.”

Blink-182 setlist ranged from 'All the Small Things' to 'Dammit'

There’s more to Blink-182’s appeal than goofy jokes, of course.

They became the most successful pop-punk artists of their generation on the strength of their material.

And Tuesday’s concert found them dusting off such early classics as their breakthrough single, the pre-Barker “Dammit,” “What’s My Age Again?,” “All The Small Things,” “Man Overboard,” “The Rock Show,” “First Date,” “Feeling This,” “I Miss You” and “Down.”

They also reached back to their debut album, “Cheshire Cat,” for “Carousel,” a song that hadn’t made a setlist since 2018.

And they really leaned into the new release, performing five songs.

The last time they were here, in June 2023 , that album hadn’t been released yet and we only got to hear one song, a lead single called “Edging” that heralded DeLonge's returns and took up residence for 13 weeks at No. 1 on alternative radio.

They even dusted off a new track, "Can't Go Back," and tossed in selections from two of their extra-curricular projects — +44's "When Your Heart Stops Beating" and Box Car Racer's "There Is."

Travis Barker was dazzling on drums

It was a fast-paced journey through their catalog, but it’s hard to imagine them slowing it down, especially with Barker on the drums.

He’s an amazing drummer who spent a portion of the night suspended from the ceiling on his drum riser. His snare fills were phenomenal, as dazzling as they were precise, especially on the breakneck pace of “Dammit.”

But if Barker is the driving force behind their most exhilarating moments, Hoppus and DeLonge remain the heart and soul of Blink-182.

The set went heavy on the pyrotechnics — lots of fireworks and massive walls of flame erupting from the stage. It definitely made it feel more like a big event.

But seeing Blink-182 in 2024 is more about the small things — witnessing three friends who conquered the world with ridiculous sex jokes and serious pop hooks find their way back to the life they took for granted while embracing the past and moving forward in the same breath.

As Hoppus sang in “Dammit,” “Well, I guess this is growing up.”

Def Leppard and Journey Launch 2024 Tour: Set Lists and Video

Def Leppard and Journey kicked off their co-headlining North American tour on Saturday at St. Louis’ Busch Stadium, with support from Cheap Trick .

You can see all three set lists and video from the show below.

The lion’s share of Def Leppard’s set came from their two biggest albums, Pyromania and Hysteria , which accounted for a combined 13 of their 18 songs. They’ve reintroduced Pyromania opener “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)” into their set, which they hadn’t played live since 2015 prior to an intimate June show at SiriusXM’s the Garage. “Comin’ Under Fire” also appeared in the set for just the second time in the band’s history, following the Garage gig.

Journey, meanwhile, delivered well over a dozen of their requisite hits and set list staples, including “Only the Young, “Faithfully,” “Wheel in the Sky” and the set-ending “Don’t Stop Believin’.” They opened their show with Generations track “Faith in the Heartland,” a relative rarity that they’ve recently begun to unearth at a handful of shows.

Cheap Trick opened the show with a tight, hourlong hits set including classics like “Dream Police,” “If You Want My Love,” “The Flame,” “Surrender” and “I Want You to Want Me.” They’ll continue to provide support on select dates of the co-headlining tour along with Steve Miller Band . Both groups will sub for Heart on a handful of shows, as the rockers have postponed all of their 2024 North American shows for Ann Wilson to undergo preventative chemotherapy.

Def Leppard and Journey’s co-headlining tour will run through early September.

Def Leppard Promises Brand-New Stage Show on 2024 Tour

Def Leppard logged more than 80 shows between 2022 and 2023, filling stadiums around the world with Motley Crue . The British rockers begin their latest tour armed with a new single, “ Just Like ’73 ” (which they played on Saturday), and guitarist Phil Collen recently told UCR that fans could expect a totally revamped production on this trek.

“We changed the whole set,” Collen said. “You know, there’s a whole screen [production] and we’ve been using pretty much the same stuff for like 12 years. So we’ve changed it completely. The stage show is drastically different. It’s going to take a lot of energy. There’s going to be a lot of running around. So I’m working out, trying to get the stamina up and all of that. Vocally, too. You know, I’m having to sing every single day.”

How Journey Held It Together Amid Public Feuding

Journey, meanwhile, has already played more than three dozen shows this year as part of their ongoing Freedom tour, named after their 2022 album . It’s been a tumultuous few years for the group, full of public feuding between Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain . But the rock giants have held things together simply by putting the songs first.

“We just decided that the music is the music,” Schon recently told Los Angeles-based music journalist Lyndsey Parker . “We worked really hard and diligently on keeping this thing alive all these years, and just not let the other stuff get in the way and kind of keep it separate.”

Review: New Kids on the Block still have the 'Right Stuff'

westgate tour reviews

New Kids on the Block had 10,000 mostly female fans screaming at the top of their lungs on Saturday at Acrisure Arena as part of the 2024 "Magic Summer" tour.

The five members of New Kids on the Block — Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre, Jonathan Knight, Jordan Knight and Danny Wood — are all in their 50s, and the beloved early '90s boy band delivered on all the songs, rocked the choreography and was elevated by the prodigious stage production.

The majority of New Kids on the Block fans, also known as "blockheads," are women aged 40 to 55. This demographic was predominantly present at Acrisure Arena on Saturday, with very few men attending without female company.

Like any boy band, New Kids on the Block is expected to deliver high-energy performances and continues to impress with intense choreography and vocals. Some of their older songs are modified a bit to give them a modern and funkier feel, like the live version of "You Got It (The Right Stuff)."

Do the New Kids on the Block still have the same sex appeal they had back in the day? It certainly seems like it. Throughout the show, some of the singers, especially Wahlberg, weren't shy about getting loud cheers from the mostly female audience by quickly lifting their shirts to show off their midriffs. Jordan Knight also excited the crowd late in the show by performing in an unbuttoned shirt, revealing his muscular chest during "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)."

So basically, the New Kids on the Block still have that "Right Stuff."

Full setlist: Here's what New Kids on the Block performed at Acrisure Arena on Saturday

New Kids on the Block bring the '90s nostalgia

New Kids on the Block kicked off the two-hour set with "Magic" from the 2024 album "Still Kids," which is the band's first album in 11 years and performed the song in front of a digital screen with a backdrop featuring the boxes of each member's toy doll from 1990.

"Summer Love" featured video production animating some of its '90s graphics on t-shirts, posters commercials and fan magazines and set the tone of nostalgia throughout most of the set that included lots of confetti, neon on the stage decor and the costumes, arcade games and other things from the period. Some highlights from the early part of the set were the 1988 songs "My Favorite Girl" and "Cover Girl."

In 1990, the band decided to include their own birthday song, "Happy Birthday," on the album "Step by Step." Four lucky fans who were celebrating birthdays on Saturday, including one dressed in a cake costume, were invited on stage during the performance of the song. The New Kids also surprised the crowd by venturing into the audience during "Block Party" and "Tonight." Each band member sang from platforms arranged in a line across the floor, before walking up into different sections of the concourse amid the fans.

The later part of the show featured hits such as "Please Don't Go Girl" and "Step By Step." Before the Boston natives performed the 1988 hit "Hangin' Tough" toward the end of the set, the band donned Boston Celtics jerseys in celebration of the team winning the 2024 NBA Championship, and Wahlberg said the team will be "Hangin' Tough" again next season.

Interview: New Kids on the Block member says ‘we feel like kids’ ahead of Palm Desert show

New Kids on the Block special guest: DJ Jazzy Jeff

Also during the latter part of the show, New Kids on the Block members were joined by DJ Jazzy Jeff, who is one half of the now defunct DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince (rapper and actor Will Smith). Wahlberg told a story about how the band was the opening act on pop singer Tiffany's 1988 tour, which got some laughs from the crowd until he said "No Tiffany, no New Kids on the Block," then continued about the band going on another tour with DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.

"It was one of the most influential and important times in our career," Wahlberg said before thanking DJ Jazzy Jeff for "all the inspiration and all the love you showed for us back then."

DJ Jazzy Jeff's opening performance was reminiscent of a DJ performing at a high school or college pep rally, or between plays at a basketball or hockey game, with songs such as House of Pain's "Jump Around," The Bee Gees' "Stayin Alive," DJ Kool's "Let Me Clear My Throat" and the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back." Strangely enough, the song he seemed to breeze through without encouraging much crowd participation was "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" theme.

Paula Abdul opened her show with an oxygen tank

Former "American Idol" judge and pop singer Paul Abdul started her 30-minute opening set with an energetic performance of the 1988 hit "Straight Up" singing and dancing all over the stage accompanied by backup singers. But at the end of the song, she walked over to a member of her road crew who brought out an oxygen tank and mask.

"Are you kidding me? This is 62, OK?" Abdul told the crowd.

Whether or not it was a just a prop and part of the show or not, Abdul mentioned she had 30 minutes to perform as many highlights from her career since her 1988 debut album "Forever Your Girl." It fit the theme of a '90s concert with her black and silver costume and backup dancers in black long-sleeved sheer shirts and parachute-style pants.

Her set included songs such as "Cold Hearted," "Rush Rush" and "Forever Your Girl." At one point, the oxygen tank came back out on stage and Abdul waved the road crew member away.

Things to Do

Music and concerts, music and concerts | concert review: niall horan seems like a nice enough guy, but he’s no harry styles, the former boy bander filled the x sunday night.

Niall Horan performs onstage

Michael Jackson, George Michael and Justin Timberlake managed to make the transition — as did Paul McCartney and John Lennon, although boomers hate it when people call the Beatles a boy band — but they’re all very much the exception to the rule.

The English-Irish boy band One Direction, which was assembled from wannabe solo acts from “The X Factor” in 2010 and enjoyed six years of success before splitting, has already spawned Harry Styles, who has quickly ascended to the top of global pop stardom. So, from the start, Styles’ former bandmate Niall Horan has faced an even higher barrier than most in establishing himself as a solo act.

Concert review from 2021: With an in-the-round stage, Harry Styles packs Xcel Energy Center to the rafters for spectacular show .

Yet Sunday night, the 30-year-old Horan filled St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center with an appreciative, well-mannered crowd full of women in their late teens and 20s. Without many little kids in attendance, the mood was celebratory but not as chaotic as it can get when there are screaming 14-year-olds in every other row.

The size of the audience speaks volumes about the devotion One Direction inspired, as Horan hasn’t really had any breakthrough singles that made a greater cultural impact beyond the fans. Horan’s performance hinted at the reasons why. He’s a handsome guy with a decent voice, an unobtrusive stage presence and a handful of pleasant enough pop songs that aim for, but never achieve, greatness.

From 2017: KDWB Jingle Ball didn’t attract the biggest stars but was a screamfest all the same — here are Ross Raihala’s haiku-style reviews (including one for Horan).

Like Styles, Horan is a Fleetwood Mac fan. He took the stage to “The Chain” blasting over the loudspeakers and incorporated a snippet of Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen” into his own “Small Talk.” (It is worth noting that while Horan covers Nicks, Styles is actually her good friend.)

In addition to hints of the Mac, much of Horan’s music dabbles in ’70s-style soft rock and more modern and tasteful mid-tempo pop and balladry. The set list drew from all three of Horan’s solo albums, the second of which he was set to tour in 2020, but never actually did due to the pandemic.

So Sunday was Horan’s first local concert since he drew just under 10,000 fans to the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand in 2018 . He acknowledged that between songs, and while introducing the crowd favorite “Black and White,” Horan thanked his fans for being patient as tickets for the show went on sale a year ago and they had a lot of catching up to do.

Over the course of 90 minutes, Horan offered a series of mildly enjoyable songs more focused on atmosphere and vibes than indelible hooks. And it seems his record company applied some pressure for more Styles-esque material, as “Save My Life” from his latest album “The Show” sounded like an obvious (and failed) attempt to recreate the pop perfection of Styles’ megahit “As It Was.” And the record’s title track wouldn’t have sounded out of place on Styles’ own debut album.

The crowd loved it all but perked up noticeably when Horan broke out the mirror ball for a run through One Direction’s “Night Changes,” which turned into a massive audience singalong. The group singing also returned for a trio of semi-acoustic numbers, the tender ballads “Flicker” and “This Town” from his debut and “You Could Start a Cult” from his new one. The latter’s title suggested some potentially sexy and/or edgy lyrics, but like everything else in his repertoire, it was yet another perfectly fine, if somewhat dull, song.

Again, Horan seems like a nice enough guy, and comparing him to Styles probably isn’t fair. But, then again, Horan is no Harry Styles.

2024 genesis scottish open odds, picks and pga tour predictions, share this article.

westgate tour reviews

In the 3rd year as a co-sanctioned event between the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open features a stacked field as the world’s top players prepare for the 152nd Open Championship next week. The Renaissance Club is hosting this event for the 6th straight year, challenging players with a traditional links layout in Scotland.

Below, we look at BetMGM Sportsbook’s   2024 Genesis Scottish Open odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions .

With No. 1 Scottie Scheffler taking the week off, Rory McIlroy takes the top spot as the betting favorite after winning the Scottish Open last year. He’s +700 to defend his title, followed by 2022 champion Xander Schauffele at +800. Collin Morikawa (+1400), Ludvig Aberg (+1800) and Tommy Fleetwood (+1800) round out the top 5, as well.

The Renaissance Club is a par 70 and 7,237 yards long, and it just opened in 2017. While there are some trees throughout the course, unlike most links-style tracks, they don’t typically come into play. Since the club started hosting the Scottish Open in 2019, the winning score has been between 7-under and 22-under, with McIlroy shooting 15-under to win last year.

Genesis Scottish Open – Expert picks

Odds provided by BetMGM Sportsbook ; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Monday at 12:59 p.m. ET.

Xander Schauffele (+800)

This is a rare event where most of the top players in the world are teeing it up and Scheffler isn’t among them. If there’s one player who could take advantage of the world No. 1’s absence, it’s Schauffele. He won here in 2022 and made the cut last year before shooting 4-over on Sunday to tumble down the leaderboard. Aside from Scheffler, he’s been the most consistent player on tour and should contend again this week.

Tommy Fleetwood (+1800)

Fleetwood has played this event every year since 2020. Here’s where he’s finished: 2nd (lost in playoff), T-26, T-4, T-6. He clearly likes The Renassaince Club a great deal and has played exceptionally well here in recent years. His odds are short for a guy with zero PGA Tour wins but this could be the week he breaks through.

Tom Kim (+2500)

Kim proved last year that his 3rd-place finish in 2022 was no fluke, following it up with a T-6 last year. He had been struggling earlier this season, but he’s gotten on track lately, headlined by a runner-up finish to Scheffler at the Travelers Championship. At +2500, we might be getting a slight discount after he missed the cut in Detroit 2 weeks ago.

Genesis Scottish Open picks – Contenders

Brian harman (+4000).

Before winning the Open Championship last year, Harman finished T-12 at the Scottish Open, a strong showing after he missed the cut the year prior. He showed last July that he knows how to play links golf and his putter, as physically large as it is, works wonderfully in the wind.

Wyndham Clark (+4500)

It’s been a rollercoaster year for Clark, who has 5 top-10s and a win, but also 4 missed cuts. He’s missed the cut in 2 of his last 4 starts but he may have found something in Connecticut when he finished 9th at the Travelers Championship in his last start. In 2 career appearances in the Genesis Scottish Open, he’s finished 16th and 25th.

Byeong Hun An (+5500)

An withdrew from his last start, the Travelers Championship, due to an illness but he should be fine now. In last year’s Scottish Open, he tied for 3rd and gained 2.30 total strokes on the field, including 2.08 from tee to green.

Genesis Scottish Open picks – Long shots

Thomas detry (+8000).

In 5 years of playing the Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club, Detry has never finished worse than T-43. He lost to Min Woo Lee in a playoff in 2021 and tied for 10th in 2022. He had excellent showings in the PGA Championship (T-4) and U.S. Open (T-14) this year so the stage hasn’t been too big for him no matter how strong the fields have been.

Ryan Fox (+8000)

Fox finally had a top-40 finish in this event last year when he tied for 12th after 2 missed cuts and finishes of 44th and 47th, so perhaps he’s getting more comfortable at this course. He has 3 top-10s on the PGA Tour this season so he’s shown some decent form.

Jordan Smith (+12500)

In the last 2 years, Smith has quietly played very well in this event, finishing T-24 and T-12. He also finished T-36 in 2020 and came in 39th at the PGA Championship this year. In the BMW International Open last month on the DP World Tour, he tied for 2nd.

We are writing a review to address the lies and deceit

We are writing a review to address the egregiously deceptive and predatory tactics we were subjected to by Westgate Resorts. In 2017 my wife and I were in Orlando for our honeymoon. We were approached by Westgate representatives who offered us free amusement park tickets and free stays at several resorts. Although we declined, they became quite aggressive, and, after several attempts, they finally convinced us.  The nature of the presentation shifted quickly from informative to coercive. They delved into fantastical claims about how what they were selling was more than a timeshare. They insisted their product was akin to a real estate investment, and that it would only increase in value over time and that we could rent out the timeshare to make enough income to pay it off entirely. That was a flat out lie. We were also told that we could travel to any Westgate location at any time with no out-of-pocket costs. Finally, the salesman insisted that none of this transaction would have an adverse effect on our credit. Lie, Lies, and more lies.  Despite these claims, we declined the offers. The only reason we attended the presentation was to receive the amusement park tickets and we made this clear from the beginning. However, despite three separate rejections they refused to take no for an answer. When we declined an offer, they came back with more pressure. We were told that we could cancel our contract at any time or sell the timeshare for a profit. This gave us a false sense of security, which ultimately led to us agreeing to purchase. We wouldn’t have agreed to anything had we known that we couldn’t cancel our contract anytime. If you are reading this review as well as other reviews, you will see that our stories are fairly consistent with the others, and the lies and mistruths are a common theme. If you are thinking of investing in Westgate Resorts, I suggest that you stand down and walk away. Don’t go for the free vacation or tickets they offer you, it’s a trap!

Don't Be Fooled!!

Westgate’s incompetence has left us with over $10,000 worth of debt, when this was pitched to us as the ‘most cost-effective way to travel’. This is bogus! We could go out of the country for less than half that amount and stay at a much nicer resort, and for a longer amount of time. Since being an ‘owner’ of Westgate for a year and a half now, we have not been able to use our timeshare ONE TIME!! Everyone was nice at first, and after declining their offers several times, their attitudes changed dramatically, from nice and charming to arrogant and pushy. We felt the pressure to sign, even though we did not want this and made that clear to the salesmen. If Westgate’s persistent salesmen could take a hint and understand that the word ‘no’ means no, and there’s no exception to that, than we wouldn’t be here! Now, being an owner, it is far more expensive to travel than being a non-owner. With monthly mortgage payments and maintenance fee payments, when you book a vacation, they still charge more money when making a reservation. This is the worst consumer product on the market!

Lies and More Lies

Unfortunately, we got roped into a timeshare sales pitch while in Gatlinburg, TN, at Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort. With reluctance we went and we knew we weren't going to buy anything. This was the highest pressure sales pitch we have been subjected to ever. No matter how many times we told our salesperson NO, they ignored us. We were told it was only a 90-minute presentation - my butt! We were kept there for over FOUR HOURS! First lie. Westgate found out I am a veteran and they started on how much they give to the military community. Second lie, Westgate was convicted in 2009 of getting military members into predatory loans and they have not learned their lesson. Westgate sales pitch includes on how you get a "real deed" to your unit. Third lie. Westgate was convicted in Florida for untruthful sales practices for promoting the falsehood of the deed to buyers. It's not a deed and your are not getting any type of real estate but nothing more than a glorified timeshare. We told them we didn't need their resorts as we go through Armed Forces Vacation Club. We can go anywhere in the world as long as there is a unit available for booking. We can pay as low as $319 for eight day and seven nights. We don't have go through an exchange. We don't have to buy a timeshare. Our saleswoman would belittle everything about AFVClub.com. My husband and I were highly insulted. She was telling us that the resorts we were staying at didn't have the amenities like their resorts do. I finally told the twit that we can even book Westgate Resorts if they are available on the website. I told her if it is Spinnaker, Hilton Vacation Club, Wyndham, Westgate or any other resort if it's available for booking through AFVClub then we are going to book it and we don't book anything less than 4-star resorts. I believe both my husband and I said NO about twenty times each. We even told them that we believe timeshares are for suckers and we were not going to bite. Westgate sales are worse than the sleaziest used car salesman.

If you are looking for a resort to stay…

If you are looking for a resort to stay at in Florida, look not further. Westgates Resort & Spa has a wide variety of activities for you or your family to enjoy. What kinds of things? Bowling, Swimming, Spa-Packages and more. Their tasty Bar/Restaurant which is located next to their onsite market, has wonderful food if your not looking to go far, but want to eat out. After all this you can recharge in one of their lovely rooms, I chose to get a Villa and had a wonderful view of the dock. I was honestly really happy with my stay and would defintely recommend booking a weekend getaway at Westgate Resorts. The staff here are fabulous and really know how to make you feel, at home.

Scammers! Liars! Heartless! I want to give as many negative stars as possible! Worst company EVER!! I don’t know how they can sleep at night knowing how they suck people dry of their hard earned money!!! They lied about when we could use our week, lied about the $800+ dollars it would cost to stay “peak season” at our own resort! 6 different departments and they keep passing us from one to the next saying they don’t have the answer because it’s “not their department.” Please Beware! Worst mistake we ever made. They will suck you dry!

I have been a westgate lake resort’s…

I have been a westgate lake resort’s owner for the past 15 years. Unfortunately I have been going through a financial hardship for the past two years that unfortunately has prevented me from paying the maintenance and tax fees. I am finally recovering and decided to contact them to discuss about payment options. I called them twice today and spoke with two different people but I wasn’t going anywhere with neither one. So I requested to speak with a manager. The person I spoke with the 2nd time told me unless I am able to pay my fees in full, I won’t be able to speak with anyone else and that message is coming directly from their manager. Instead, they gave me two different phone numbers to call because there is nothing they can do for me since my file is flagged to call those numbers below 1888 831 1844 and 1760 929 6685 I’m disappointed because in their website they claim they have options for owners who are going through financial hardships. I’m disappointed because they that they are not interested a bit on what really is going on in our lives!!😢 Ugh!!

Westgate is the most FRAUDULENT company…

Westgate is the most fraudulent company I’ve ever encountered!! They kept us cooped up in the Sales room all day when it was supposed to be just a 1-hour meeting. I was over 60 at the time of presentation and feel like Westgate used that to manipulate me into signing. They use anything and everything against you and force your hand to sign. This “Investment” has cost me so much money, and for nothing. I can’t use it when I want, can’t go where I want. I’m better off going to one of those travel sites, like Priceline.com or something. Now I’m in a Contract that’s such a hassle, and burden!! DO NOT GET SUCKERED into this elder abuse scheme!

Don't Do the timeshare 90 minutes tour. It will be 4hr plus. Feeling like a hostage.

The only reason I went to this hotel was for the ridiculous timeshare tour. The guy giving us the tour was super cool. I believe his name was Chris. The manager!!!! Rude!!! The only thing he cared about was making a sale. He repeatedly threw shots at me because I wasn't interested. Things like. I don't cook for my husband. Second if I don't want the timeshare. My husband should buy it so he could take his girlfriend. I kept my cool. Finally my husband said something. The guy got the point. After 8 different price drops. I'll never book a room with this hotel. Myrtle Beach location.

When I think “Westgate”

When I think “Westgate”, I no longer think of the fun and exciting vacations I was promised. Now I think of all the frustration I felt when I initially found out that everything the salesman sold me on was a load of BS. I think about the disappointment my family and I feel every time we try to book a vacation and can’t because there is never anything open. I think about the irritation of being defrauded and still expected to pay tens of thousands of dollars for nothing. I have one week that can only be used during specific times AND only during odd numbered years. This makes it terribly difficult to vacation. Funny how in the multiple hours of being harassed, no one mentioned that I would also have to pay fees to separate my week on top of the ridiculous amount of the monthly payments. The irony now is that I am working more to pay for a useless timeshare and not spending as much time with my family. What a joke.

Its not my first time there at Westgate Steakhouse and last year my experience gone really well but this year i am not much happy. I think there are few more things to improved. Except that the steak was delicious but the quantity wasn't enough for me and my gf.

When we first encountered Westgate…

When we first encountered Westgate Resorts, we informed the salesperson who approached us that we couldn’t differentiate between Westgate and a regular timeshare. He claimed that Westgate was much better because of its global footprint. I began questioning him about trade-in possibilities for different events throughout the year, and he stated that it was an effortless process. All we had to do was deposit a week, submit a request of where we wanted to go, and Westgate would take care of the rest. Renting out the timeshare for a profit if we weren’t interested in traveling in a given year was a claim that heavily influenced our decision to buy. The sales team also applied a great deal of pressure and deceptive sales tactics to sway our decision. We rejected four separate offers from four different salespeople. Each time we declined, a different salesperson would approach us and increase the pressure. From 2008-2022, we had only used our timeshare twice and never to the destinations we were interested in. This contradicted the claims of Westgate’s global footprint that we were sold on. In addition to the lack of availability, we also found that we couldn’t rent out the timeshare like we had been promised. Whenever we called to raise our concerns, we were given every excuse imaginable. We were told that our Interval membership needed an upgrade, that we needed to make our reservations sooner, and then, finally, we were told that we needed to upgrade our timeshare. We have been swindled and victimized by this company through a series of bait-and-switch tactics. Everything that we were promised has turned out to be a pack of lies, and we have paid dearly for a timeshare that we are never able to use.

We stayed at westgate Gatlinburg

We stayed at westgate Gatlinburg, the hotels was beautiful, the scenery was incredible and the staff are really nice, however this resort only wants to sell you their timeshare, they tell you the timeshare process only takes hour and half it took 3 half hours and when we were not Interested they sent two managers over to pressure us to buy it and gave us major attitude when we rejected them.. The indoor pool they show you on the website is not included and is and extra 30 a person to get in, and check in is at 4 and the pool closes at 7. We didn’t realize checkout was at 10 because all the other hotels/resorts we have stayed at was 11 so we had to rush to get out the door.. the food at their restaurant cost us 102 for a family of 4 and all of our bellies hurt after we ate their food. We will not stay at this resort anymore.

Westgate Resort Nightmare

TO: Westgate. I sent a letter to you dated 07/28/23 and we have gotten no response to it. We saw it was delivered, yet it seems like no one has given it the time of day. So here is a summary of the things we were lied to about to warn everyone else as it appears that Westgate doesn't care about ripping people off. Our loan was higher than we were told, our heirs are forced to inherit this timeshare and all of its negative aspects we were never told about, the rescission period was left out of the closing meeting, we could generate rental income and their resorts are exclusive to their owners. If we had not been rushed into purchasing this timeshare or through the signing process we would have had time to go over the contract. It was so rushed and we were told the price we were given would only be available that day, but the price we were given was not the one we signed for. If you want to understand what high pressure sales tactics look like, just sign up for a presentation and clear your schedule. The 90 minutes they said the presentation would last turned into 8 grueling hours.

I was involved in WG TS back in 2013-2015, I was able to get out of it myself with a .99c book on Amazon. It took 3 months to get out but a lawyer tried charging me $18k and I did it for .99c and a few months. I came to WG recently and they tried the same tactics as before promising a revenue stream which is total BS, anyone can get the same deals and better without paying WG.

Review: wallflowers, mcbride bring musical flavor to revamped taste of minnesota.

The location, layout and general vibe may be very different this year. Like Taste of Minnesota festivals of old, however, the free music lineup Saturday in the revamped event's new downtown Minneapolis site offered an oddly mish-mashed, nostalgia-heavy but crowd-pleasing mix.

Country music veteran Martina McBride, '90s adult-rock hitmakers the Wallflowers and homegrown alt-country veterans the Gear Daddies were the top-drawing acts on the first of two days in Taste's second year in a setting that also feels quite hodge-podgey.

The fenced-off Taste grounds are spread between empty parking lots and blocked-off streets around the Minneapolis Central Library and the north end of Nicollet Mall. It's not the prettiest of sites, and finding somewhere to sit is harder than spotting a low-calorie food option.

However, the new digs did smoothly accommodate the strong turnout amid Saturday's golden weather, with organizers reporting more than 35,000 attendees through the gates by 3:30 p.m.

The biggest of the four new Taste stages is in a crumbly lot sandwiched between the library, Four Seasons Hotel and other tall buildings. Thanks to this site, U.S. Bank Stadium may no longer hold the distinction of being Minneapolis' most echoey music venue. A midafternoon set by rapper and DJ Sophia Eris with beatmaker pal Makr was especially muddied by the bouncing acoustics and other technical issues.

The vibe at the Jazz 88 stage at the north end of Taste was much more appealing, in part because it's one of the few places you'll find trees or grass. Jazz stylist Jennifer Grimm had fans there cooling in the shade and singing along to Billie Holiday's "I'll Be Seeing You."

Since none of the other mainstage acts enjoyed huge Instagram followers or TikTok numbers, it was no surprise that many of the attendees who stuck by the big stage looked old enough to have regularly attended Taste of Minnesota's prior iterations, evolving over the mid-1980s to the late 2000s on Harriet Island and the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul.

Performing between Eris and an ultra-hyping intro by comedian Fancy Ray McCloney, Gear Daddies' frontman Martin Zellar joked that his band was "going to cut the energy in half." Of course, their old favorites such as "Zamboni" and "Stupid Boy" did the opposite and sparked big, smiley audience singalongs. Even the downers in the Daddies' set were well-received, including "Color of Her Eyes" and "Cut Me Off."

The Gear Daddies perform on the first day of Taste of Minnesota in Minneapolis on Saturday.

The Wallflowers started out feisty and loud with songs off their last album, highlighted by "The Dive Bar in My Heart" — reminiscent of Minnesota legends the Replacements, whose bassist Tommy Stinson was watching from side-stage. Wallflowers frontman Jakob Dylan greeted the crowd by cheekily noting that, unlike his dad Bob, he did not qualify as a taste of Minnesota.

"You guys do know I'm not from here, right?" he cracked. "But I thank you for this as some kind of homecoming."

Despite personnel changes over the years and a long lull in the 2010s, the rock scion's band sounded as rock-solid and full-spirited as ever as it revisited some of their best-known tunes, including a rootsier-styled "6th Avenue Heartache" and "One Headlight." Instead of offering a taste of (Bob) Dylan for the Minnesota fest, Jakob paid tribute to Tom Petty with covers of "Refugee" and "The Waiting" at the end of their set.

Martina McBride performs Saturday, the first day of Taste of Minnesota, in Minneapolis.

In the headlining slot, McBride played to a smaller crowd but showed why she's endured in the male-dominated Nashville music biz for three decades. Her 1993 breakthrough hit "My Baby Loves" kicked off a series of feel-good love songs, including "Safe in the Arms of Love" and "Love's the Only House." Her covers of country classics "Rose Garden" and "You Ain't Woman Enough (to Take My Man)" came off sweet, too, given they were launched by two female country music legends. Too bad Taste's spotty sound system cut out during the former song.

Taste of Minnesota continues Sunday with a music lineup that is more truly Minnesotan — and should attract a lot of Prince fans — as Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Morris Day and other members of the Time are slated to stage a rare reunion tied to the 40th anniversary of "Purple Rain," preceded by Sounds of Blackness and more.

Chris Riemenschneider has been covering the Twin Cities music scene since 2001, long enough for Prince to shout him out during "Play That Funky Music (White Boy)." The St. Paul native authored the book "First Avenue: Minnesota's Mainroom" and previously worked as a music critic at the Austin American-Statesman in Texas.
