Three-time GRAMMY® Award nominee and multiple ACM and CMA Award winning multiplatinum songwriter, producer and author Kelsea Ballerini will launch the third leg of her exclusive  HEARTFIRST Tour  in June. Notably, the third leg kicks off at the Santa Barbara Bowl on Friday, June 16.  

The tour announcement comes in the midst of a career-defining week for Ballerini who is set to make her  Saturday Night Live  debut as a musical guest alongside host Travis Kelce this Saturday, March 4. She is also fresh off the surprise release of her intimate six-song EP  Rolling Up the Welcome Mat  (Black River) on February 14. The EP, along with an accompanying short film written and directed by Ballerini, marks the multi-platinum star’s most intimate and honest work to date. The project became an instant hit with fans and debuted to universal acclaim from everyone from  The New York Times  to  Variety  to  Rolling Stone  and more.  

The  HEARTFIRST Tour  will be a prime opportunity to catch Kelsea’s full headline set—following a handful of dates on  The Judds: The Final Tour . Meanwhile, she’ll spend the rest of the Spring on Kenny Chesney’s  I Go Back Tour .

On top of this, the multi-platinum country superstar was named the newest face of COVERGIRL. Singer Songwriter Injects a Shot of Girl Power, Country Pop Energy, and Charm

Bursting onto the stage with a mixture of sunshine and sass, the contagious exuberance of country pop singer-songwriter Kelsea Ballerini is hard to resist. The 29-year-old performer from Knoxville, TN, has been writing songs and performing since she was a young child, and her ease and enjoyment on stage was palpable from the moment she danced into the Santa Barbara Bowl on June 16, her shimmery bright-yellow minidress and boots the perfect punctuation marks to her high-energy performance. 

The first part of her catchy set included “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too)” (check out the hilariously kitschy video here ), “The Little Things,” and “Love Me Like You Mean It,” all of which gave me serious Taylor Swift vibes.

Ballerini has been quoted crediting Swift for introducing her to country music, and many of her lyrics, along with the high-pitched screams in the audience, indicate she’s definitely another girls’ girl, giving violinist Caitlin Evanson (who has also played with Swift) her time to shine with a lovely solo. That was performed while Ballerini changed into a sparkly red mini and matching boots (her second of four cute costume changes) to perform another rollercoaster song of the heart, “Love Is a Cowboy.” That was followed by her 2020 hit “Half of My Hometown” (the recording featured fellow Knoxville native Kenny Chesney), an ode to growing up in a small town and reflecting on it once you’ve been out in the big world for a while. 

One of my favorite segments, and certainly one of the most unique in these parts, was Ballerini dancing up into the audience with a saucy rendition of “You’re Drunk, Go Home,” and then jumping onto what she dubbed “the B Stage” (a small platform near the soundboard), to sing “Hole in the Bottle,” a classic song about nursing heartbreak with drinking, followed by Ballerini taking a shot of tequila with a very excited woman she chose out of the audience. 

You don’t see that every night at the Bowl.

Another definite highlight of the evening was one of the quieter moments: the sweet, reflective, and beautiful song “Better Version,” performed (apparently for the first time in concert) as a duet with FLETCHER, a talented and charismatic singer-songwriter and close friend of Ballerini’s who is currently touring with “Meet Her at the Bar,” designed to raise awareness and money for queer spaces. Look up her music — I hadn’t heard it before, but it’s now on my playlist. 

That slower pace didn’t last long, as Ballerini launched into an energetic and entertaining last stretch with “Weather,” “Peter Pan,” “I Guess They Call It Fallin’,” “Penthouse,” “Miss Me More,” and her trademark finale, “I’m Doing My Best.” 

Her best was pretty damn good.

Kelsea Ballerini Extends Heartfirst Tour With 10 New Summer 2023 Dates

Kelsea Ballerini extended her Heartfirst Tour once again on Thursday (March 2), booking 10 new shows for June and early July. The just-announced shows kick off June 16 in Santa Barbara, Calif., and they'll keep the singer busy through July 1.

The singer's tour is currently in full force, and in addition to performing the material off her September 2022 Subject to Change album, she's also been sharing live renditions of some of the songs off her new, divorce-inspired EP, Rolling Up the Welcome Mat . Next up, she's got another leg of North American dates on the tour planned for March.

That's not all Ballerini's got planned in the weeks ahead. She's set to make her Saturday Night Live debut as a musical guest on Saturday (March 4). Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl-winning tight end Travis Kelce will host the episode.

Tickets for the new dates on Ballerini's Heartfirst Tour go on sale March 10. That tour originally launched last fall. In the meantime, the singer is also gearing up for a stint on the road as an opening act for Kenny Chesney 's spring 2023 I Go Back Tour. Also in 2023, Ballerini is scheduled to co-host the CMT Music Awards with Kane Brown .

Before the public on-sale date of March 10, fans can check in for early access to snag their seats at the Heartfirst Tour's website .

Fresh off her musical guest appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” Kelsea Ballerini is heading right back to the road for 18 more shows.

From March 6 through July 1, the country star will travel all over the country as part of her ongoing ‘Heartfirst Tour.’

The tour, which began in late 2022, had to be extended to the spring and summer due to overwhelming demand.

Soon after, concerts began selling out.

“WELL THIS ESCALATED QUICKLY,” Ballerini gushed on Instagram . “As if i couldn’t have been more excited to get back on the road…you’re selling these out already?! ok brb going to make the show extra special now.”

This time around, she’ll be hitting the northeast when she stops into Atlantic City’s Etess Arena at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on March 17.

There isn’t just one tour on Ballerini’s 2023 schedule.

This year, she’ll also open for Kenny Chesney on his spring ‘I Go Back Tour’ from March 23 through May 27.

The tour isn’t your typical Chesney trek though.

Rather than hit stadiums, Chesney will hit off the beaten path venues this spring.

“I decided rather than just go repeat what we did on this summer’s stadium tour, I wanted to take this band and these songs to a lot of the cities we played on our way up, call it the I Go Back Tour and do just that,” Chesney shared on  Instagram .

In October 2022, the 29-year-old released her fourth record “Subject To Change.”

The album mixes country, pop and dance which goes down smooth for hardcore fans and those her are just discovering her catalog with its good-natured lyrics and upbeat tempo changes.

We’re partial to the second track “THE LITTLE THINGS” where Ballerini pays homage to the intangibles in a relationship that make it work like “when her partner puts a hand on her back in a crowded room” or “waiting on her in the morning with a cup of coffee.”

Before Ballerini takes the stage, audiences will be treated to up-and-coming singer-songwriter Georgia Webster.

The 20-year-old Massachusetts native first exploded onto the scene after an acoustic version of her single “Tell Your Mom” went viral on TikTok in 2020.

Since then, she’s released two EPs: 2021’s “First Goodbye” and 2022’s “Chapter 1: Things We’re Not Saying.”

Ballerini performed two songs on the March 4 episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’ hosted by Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

First, she treated the crowd to a rousing edition of her powerful “BLINDSIDED” which can be seen below.

Then, toward the end of the show, Ballerini delivered the stripped-down ballad “Penthouse.”

Her Heartfirst Tour gets started again in March visiting Toronto, Detroit, Columbus, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Atlantic City and Pittsburgh. Joining the tour in support will be special guest Georgia Webster. Later in the year, the singer will be joining Kenny Chesney during portions of his I Go Back Tour .
