The stage was impressive as were the band. Sounding like they had just released their first album, Europe rocked through the entire concert. No support act and a show so awesome it needed an intermission, we rocked, sang and danced with Joe and the boys through all the old hits and the best of the new. The energy of the guys was astounding, each having their own moment to shine. The drum solo was a stand out. It was a well crafted set list, with the big anthems and softer ballads, blended to remind us that Europe has been part of the soundtrack of our lives. A concert that left us grinning and singing on the night and for days afterwards.

always a pleasure to see this guys in action! as a very old fan form the 80's, i loved the band from the beginning...so much fun and some tears too...very emocional and the set list was amazing too. tunes from every period of their career, from the oldest to new ones, of course focusing on the last álbum, War Of Kings. the sound of the venue was amazing, with a stage lights doing a very special show too.

Legendary rock band The Who have announced their first European dates in seven years. The shows will see the band performing with a full orchestra each night. The iconic band’s upcoming European tour will feature the band bringing their orchestral rock show to Berlin, Paris, Florence and Barcelona for the first time.

Pete Townshend , Roger Daltrey and band will be performing music from throughout the band’s nearly 60-year career, including sections devoted to classic albums Tommy and Quadrophenia as well as other beloved Who tracks and songs from their 2019 WHO album, their first studio release in 13 years.

The 2023 European shows follow this year’s highly acclaimed The Who Hits Back! tour of Canada and the US, where the band shared the stage  with some of the finest orchestras in North America.

The 2023 European tour will feature THE WHO’s full live band comprised of guitarist/backup singer Simon Townshend , keyboardist Loren Gold , second keyboardist Emily Marshall , bassist Jon Button , drummer Zak Starkey and backing vocals by Billy Nicholls , along with orchestra conductor Keith Levenson , lead violinist Katie Jacoby and lead cellist Audrey Snyder .

Commenting on playing in Europe for the first time in almost a decade, Pete Townshend said, “It is wonderful that we can return to Europe after so long away, to play Berlin, Paris, Florence and Barcelona, four of my favourite cities in the world. We look forward to bringing our grand orchestral show which has received such great reviews so far and play some old-fashioned Who-style rock ’n’ roll songs from our back catalogue as well. We mix it all up in the most amazing evening of music: I have to say that this show is one that I personally enjoy as much as anything I have ever done in the 60 years I’ve been working with Roger. I so look forward to visiting these beautiful cities to see our old fans, and I hope we meet some new ones. We are so lucky to be able to spend an evening with you all.”

The Who wound up their The Who Hits Back! tour of the US in November this year, having wowed audiences in over thirty cities, with media and fans agreeing that the band were as good as, if not better than ever and that the orchestral arrangements, most of which were done by the legendary David Campbell , brought a new depth and excitement to Pete Townshend’s music.

Why ask to the Who to come to UK for a Tour? You should know that The Who is a English band and it will be in UK that their last dates will be take place. Maybe for a Summer festival this year or in 2023 ou 2024. Less probably in Netherlands, Germany or Scandinavia. But I really don’t know actually. If you love the Who you Can Come in Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, or Firenze especially if you live in Germany, Netherlands, Scandinavia whatever.

' src=

Rotterdam/Amsterdam Calling!!

' src=

Great to see the Who in Berlin. I always thought Waldbühne would be a great place for the best band in the world, Already got Tickets. Good to combine the trip from Stuttgart to Berlin to see my daughter in Berlin. Looking forward to the show. Hope that the venue will be packed

' src=

Kommen The Who auch mal, nach Österreich? Vielleicht nach Graz? Würde mich freuen, wenn Pete, Roger und Band mal, in die Steirische Landeshauptstadt kommen könnten! Bis jetzt waren The Who nur in Wien.

Translation: Will The Who ever come to Austria? Maybe to Graz? I would be happy if Pete, Roger and the band could come to the Styrian capital! Until now, The Who have only been in Vienna.

' src=

I guess I missed the North American dates? 🙁 would love to see you guys live, idk if I will ever get the chance… love The Who though!!!

' src=

Nederland kan ook! Amsterdam is een idee! Of België of Oberhausen.

' src=

Gents, In the past, early seventies en late sixties, you toured with a Dutch band, Golden Earring in the USA. Earring stopped in 2021 because of a serious illness (ALS) of George Kooymans. I thought that Pete and Roger might be interested in this information.

Peter Stiekema, Whofan since 1965. Hope to see you in London.

' src=

Still waiting to see you at Manchester Arena, what’s happened since 2021?

All 2021 UK tour dates were cancelled due to the pandemic and tickets refunded.

' src=

Any chance of any extra dates in Europe?

' src=

No Netherland? 🙁

' src=

BERLIN What a wonderful show and beautiful venue. Tears of joy and sadness – probably also a farewell.

Ronnie Wood, Mick Jagger, Steve Jordan, Keith Richards, The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones are hitting the road again. In celebration of their sixth decade of rocking, the band announced dates for their summer 2022 European “Sixty” tour, which is slated to kick off at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Spain on June 1 and keep them on the road through late July, with gigs in Munich, Liverpool, Amsterdam, London, Vienna and Paris, with the swing currently slated to wrap up with a July 31 show at Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

The run of shows in 10 countries in celebration of the band’s 60th anniversary will include the Stones’ first-ever stadium gig at the home of Liverpool FC, Anfield — their first time playing in the city in more than 50 years. The swing will also see them performing for two night at London’s Hyde Park as part of the massive American Express presents BST Hyde Park festival.

And it wouldn’t be a Stones tour if Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood didn’t unveil a new “Sixty Tongue” logo to go along with the outing, created by award-winning British designer Mark Norton. According to a release, the Concerts West-produced show promises “a massive stage, cutting edge lighting and state of the art video design.” Click here for ticket information.

These will be their first shows in their native UK since the death of beloved drummer Charlie Watts last summer, with replacement Steve Jordan on hand in his stead. The Euro swing comes on the heels of the Stones’ highest-grossing US “No Filter” stadium tour, which featured sales of more than half a million tickets in the fall of 2021.

Earlier this year, the Royal Mail teamed up with the group to roll out a series of 12 commemorative stamps , 8 of which captured them on various concert stages around the world, from Tokyo to New York City and London.

Check out the Rolling Stones “Sixty” European tour dates and a promo video below.

This tour is an unforgettable journey hitting all the highlights of the American WWII war effort in the footsteps of the famous 101st “Screaming Eagles” Airborne Division. Feel the sands of the landing beaches between your toes in Normandy, stand at the very foxholes where heroes fought for your freedom during the Battle of the Bulge and breathe the Alpine air at Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest*. From France to Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany, this tour covers all the sites to make an armchair historian’s dream a reality. *The visit is strongly dependent on weather conditions, which can change even last minute.

Detailed Highlights and Itinerary

Passengers are greeted at the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris and transferred by coach to Normandy. In the evening there is an introduction to the tour and a chance for the Passengers to introduce themselves. After the airport pick-up and transfer to Normandy we spend the next few days exploring the iconic shores of the Landing Beaches. Two days of this leg will focus on the American landing beaches Utah and Omaha, where we will pay our respects to the heroism that contributed to the battle that changed history. We also visit Gold Beach, where our fellow Allied troops fought to secure a foothold in Europe.

You’ll have ample time to explore these quaint areas independently and appreciate the incredible history and awe-inspiring monuments of this vital region. We pay our respects to the fallen soldiers at Luxembourg American Cemetery where General Patton is also buried.

The Smile cancel European tour due to serious Jonny Greenwood illness

The Radiohead side-project have scrapped all dates to give the guitarist time to recover

The Smile in 2022

The Smile have announced the cancellation of their entire run of European summer shows due to guitarist Jonny Greenwood becoming seriously ill. The band, who feature Radiohead’s Greenwood and Thom Yorke alongside drummer Tom Skinner, had been due to play nine shows in August.

In a statement, the band said:

A few days ago, Jonny became seriously ill from an infection that needed emergency hospital treatment, some of it in intensive care. Mercifully he is now out of danger and will soon return home.

We have been instructed by the medical team in charge of Jonny’s care to cancel all engagements until he has had time to make a full recovery. To that end, The Smile tour of Europe in August is cancelled.

Refunds for headline shows will be available from your ticket provider and the list of cancelled dates is on the W.A.S.T.E. schedule  here .

We all wish Jonny a speedy recovery.

Earlier this year, The Smile released their second record Wall Of Eyes , the follow-up to the trio’s 2022 debut A Light For Attracting Attention . They launched the new record with a dazzling show at the 6 Music Festival assisted by the London Contemporary Orchestra, a show they followed with a short UK and European tour. Following the cancellation of the August dates, they currently have no further shows pencilled in, however Yorke will embark on a solo tour in October and November, visiting New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Japan. The announcement around those dates stated they will see the Radiohead frontman play “versions of songs from my recent and not so recent past”.

Queens of the Stone Age has announced the cancellation of eight European tour dates following news that lead singer Josh Homme must return to the United States for emergency surgery.

In a post on social media, the band expressed regret for having to cancel the shows, and said that they were left with no other choice. “QOTSA regret to announce that Josh Homme must return to the United States immediately for emergency surgery,” reads the statement. “Every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue.”

Queens of the Stone Age cancels eight shows so Josh Homme can have emergency surgery

Queens of the Stone Age has paused its European tour so that lead singer Josh Homme could immediately return to the U.S. for emergency surgery.

"Every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue," the alt-rock band said Tuesday in a post on social media, confirming the cancellation of eight additional shows this summer.

"Queens are gutted we aren't able to play for you. We apologize for any inconvenience and share in your frustration and disappointment," the post said.

The band — whose other members are guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, bassist Michael Shuman, keyboardist Dean Fertita and drummer Jon Theodore — will no longer perform at festivals in France and Slovakia this week due to the singer-guitarist's departure. Shows in Berlin, Austria, Romania, Croatia and Greece have also been canceled, according to the announcement, which directed ticket holders to visit their respective festival websites for more information. Ticket holders for the band's headliner shows will be contacted directly from their point of purchase, the post said.

Last Friday, the "No One Knows" and "The Way You Used to Do" band canceled its appearance at Italy's AMA Festival "due to illness," although it did not indicate in the announcement who had fallen ill. As of Wednesday, dates for August shows in Europe and shows in North America, which are scheduled through November, are still listed on the Queens of the Stone Age website .

A spokesperson for the group did not immediately respond Wednesday to The Times' request for additional comment.

Homme, 51, who grew up and started his music career in Palm Desert, was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 but said that he had recovered after undergoing surgery. It's unclear if his recent emergency surgery is related, as no specifics about the emergency procedure were given.

After starting the pioneering stoner-metal group Kyuss in the mid-1990s, Homme broke out in 2001 with the Queens of the Stone Age album "Rated R." He has also played with the Eagles of Death Metal and supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, and produced albums by Iggy Pop and Arctic Monkeys, and is known for embracing the avant-garde .

Last summer, Queens of the Stone Age released "In Times New Roman...," its long-awaited eighth studio album. The group's first LP in six years reflected on the tumultuous years in which Homme lost several close friends, including Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins , Mark Lanegan of Screaming Trees and actor and bar owner Rio Hackford .

Homme also was embroiled in a contentious custody battle— complete with restraining orders — over his three children with his ex-wife, Brody Dalle. He and Dalle, lead singer for the Distillers, divorced in 2019 after about 15 years of marriage and amid allegations of alcoholism, drug abuse and domestic violence. Then, after completing the QOTSA album but before its June 2023 release, Homme was diagnosed with cancer.

Times pop music critic Mikael Wood contributed to this report.

Queens of the Stone Age has canceled the rest of the band’s July shows because lead singer Josh Homme needs to undergo emergency surgery, the band said on social media Tuesday, July 9.

“QOTSA regret to announce that Josh Homme must return to the United States immediately for emergency surgery,” the band said in an Instagram post . “Every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue.”

The news impacts eight dates in Europe and according to the official site of QOTSA , the next scheduled show is Aug. 24 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The last show before the cancelation announcement was last Saturday in Milan, Italy.

QOTSA does have a North American leg of their tour starting later in the year, with back-to-back shows at MGM Music Hall in Boston on Sept. 27 and 28.

“Queens are gutted we aren’t able to play for you,” the band wrote in the caption of the Instagram post. “We apologize for any inconvenience and share in your frustration and disappointment.”

The reason for the emergency surgery was not specified, although Homme, 51, has had some health issues in the past including a cancer diagnosis last year though he has stayed private about details.

The statement advised fans who purchased tickets for those designated dates to hold on to them and expect to be contacted directly from the point of purchase with further information.
