Once there was a Maharaja in Mysore who loved the outdoors. His kingdom eventually spread over beautiful countryside, jungles teeming with wildlife. The flowing river kept everything lush and green and flourishing. And he loved the environs so much that he built a hunting lodge by the banks of Kabini, a tributary of the Kaveri. It also became the headquarters of the world famous kheddah (the corralling of wild elephants for domestication in the Royal stables and for agriculture, held every three or four years by the Maharaja and his descendants till 1971). How To Reach

• Another alternative is to take a train ride of 2 - 2 1/2 hours from Bangalore City to Mysore, and from there proceed by car/bus to Kabini.
• If you're arriving by train, arrange for a taxi to meet you at the station for your onward journey to Kabini.
• Those setting out from Ooty can follow the Bandipur, Gundlupet, Begur, Nugu Dam & Hand Post Circle for a shorter albeit bumpy route, or come via Mysore, which is a better road.
• Guests from Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta, Hyderabad, Madras etc., can arrive via Bangalore.
• Guests from Trivandrum, Cochin & Calicut can come via Mananthavadi, along the Mysore Mananthavadi road.
• Guests from Mangalore & Madikeri could come via Hunsur, H.D. Kote and Hand Post Circle.

We liked our stay in Old Magazine House. We had great experience, Bird watching, Rafting, Relaxing, Boat Ride etc. Food and service were very good. People there are kindly and helpful. We got lots of information about animals and nature.

STAY & FOOD Was really good. It was maintained really well with good service and co-operation from the staffs but the numbers of accommodations are less. Probably we would return in next few months to experience much better with long duration of stay and find more luxurious stay next time.

The Hosteller is a chain of backpacker hostels and is well suited for young backpacking travellers. As a brand, we do not recommend families and do not allow all those below 18 years of age to stay with us, nor do we allow admission of kids or infants under 18 years old, even if travelling with legal guardians.

Guests with local IDs are allowed.

Visitor (Non-resident guests) timings: 10 AM to 8 PM only. In case the guest wants to meet the visitor, they can do so in our waiting area or common spaces. Note, visitors are not allowed inside any of the rooms, at any time.

Drugs/Substance/Alcohol abuse is STRICTLY prohibited at all our hostels. In case anyone is found possessing or consuming drugs/alcohol during their stay, strict action shall be taken against him/her and the person would be asked to vacate the hostel immediately and would be blacklisted from staying at our hostels forever.

All our hostels have dedicated smoking areas. Smoking inside the dorms is strictly prohibited.

Golden Palms Hotel and Spa is a very great resort to go near Bangalore outer area. Just 1 to 1.5 hrs from Bangalore City. I love the swimming pool, so big and so clean. Well maintained. Kudos to the Swimming Pool Maintenance Team. Kids will love it. This is the best and biggest swimming pool i have seen in entire India. I bet! The foot path around the resort is very green like a mini forest, you'll love it if you're a nature lover. Large variety of flora and fauna. The room are posh and big, fully furnished. One Hall with 1 Bedroom . 2 Bathrooms. I like the sliding grass dors in both the rooms, you can open it to glaze the swimming pool or the posh garden with tall trees and plants. My family enjoyed the private lawn in the backyard of the room. very PERFECT!!! for kids and relaxing. The rooms are fully furnished with TVs in each rooms.. you can enjoy relaxing in the hall sofa. The Iris Business hotel is a great place to base yourselves for a city break in Bangalore, it's location gives you easy access to MG road and surrounding areas. The hotel has a modern feel inside and is very clean and the staff make you feel welcome and are always available to help with advice. We used the roof top pool which is a reasonable size and is clean, but cold getting in! There is a plentiful choice for breakfast both Western and local food, I recommend the Dosa it is delicious. We were in a blue room which is well appointed with all the facilities you would expect such as fridge, kettle, ethernet port and the WiFi is satisfactory but not super fast. The beds are very comfortable. If I was to return to Bangalore I would have no hesitation booking this hotel again.

There are only 4 floors on this hotel, and that is the good news. I tend to prefer smaller hotels as you tend to get more personal attention compared to the huge hotels where everybody just seem to be running around and don't have time for you. The service is excellent, and every need is attended to amicably.. Location is also great, it takes no more than 20 mins to reach Brigade Road on an otto. The best thing is the food. I think this hotel serves the best food I had so far in all the hotels I have stayed in India. The food is so good that we did not even think of eating out. The breakfast is also not to be missed. We are so impressed with this hotel that we may not consider any other hotels in Bangalore.

after almost 2 weeks traveling all over india for our honeymoon, my husband & i were ready for some civilization & relaxation. the staff at movenpick hotel & spa in bangalore gave us so much more than we ever expected. for every single negative thing we had experienced up to that point(which was a lot!) the staff at movenpick more than made up for it! from the moment we walked through the door, they treated us like complete royalty! the hotel is beautiful & modern in design with an impeccable cleaning staff! the breakfast buffet is absolutely delicious! delicious food with both indian and american food. with 3 restaurants inside the hotel and a swiss bakery, there is more than enough variety right at your fingertips. we tried all 3 restaurants, each outstanding. loved our daily visit to the swiss bakery for a pistachio macaroon. the hotel has a wonderful spa offering all types of treatments including my favorite traditional, ayurvedic massages. salon offering all the hair/nail treatments us ladies love and an actual gym!(not 2 treadmills & some weights that claim to be a gym). we especially enjoyed the in-house library offering a small, but great selection of books for rent at no charge. the entire staff was so on-point. they would not let us do a single thing ourselves, literally treating us like a king and queen. the concierge, went above & beyond helping us with anything & everything we needed. i cannot say enough about our stay at movenpick. it is a 10 minute drive or so from downtown, but it is absolutely worth it! i hope this hotel continues to keep their prices in this great range so that we can come back for many years to come. i loved that everything was there.(spa, salon, restaurants, roof top deck for reading/sunbathing, pool, library, gym, etc.) we initially booked one night and after the first day, booked the next 7 nights. movenpick is what all other hotels should be. period.

The in house restaurant and 24 hour coffee shop offer you the best of world cuisine without compromise in hygiene. Impeccable service at the front desk and rooms. The in house spa is splendid and offer you about 6 different types of massage and the swimming pool is the icing on the cake, located on the top most floor it offers you a splendid view of bangalore with utmost hygiene. There is a fitness centre adjacent to the pool which looked well equipped even though I didn't get a chance to use it due to time constraints. Lemon tree has earned a regular customer through me. Starting with Naryan at the café, the receptionist, the security people. It was a outstanding service. Last day of my travel i was sick, had a fever. The whole crew was helping me to recover fast, a very special thanks to cleaning boy Saravanan who was always at my door trying to provide best of the service, also thanks to chef who was kind enough to prepare Peppery Rasam. Rooms are spacious, good quality linen, great bathroom (Im very serious with bathroom cleanliness) Fabulous food quality and taste. Breakfast is very tasty (Best dosa I ever had) Staff is courteous, polite and ready to help. They also look very happy to help. Another unique thing is one touch phone helpline. Whatever is need, its taken care by one touch. I had some issue with water leak on first day, they sort it out in no time and next day even I got up grated room. Overall Radisson Bangalore is at Great location, ultra clean, spacious, great food at both the restaurants with open kitchen and Value for money. If I ever come to Bangalore, I will only stay at Radisson. I cant find any fault at any level of service. Superb. Ravindra

my daughter and i were on our way from the middle east to mysore which is in the south of india, involving two plane flights, a four hour car journey. we arrived in the middle of the night and were fetched at the bangalore airport by a friendly driver who took us to this beautiful resort set in a garden of tranquility. we showere and slept in a spotlessly clean room and awaken to a delicious breakfast, refreshed and renewed, ready to continue our journey. it was a real pleasure to stay at teh royal orchid and i plan to stay there again next year.

A few of us were staying for a wedding and needed help draping our saris and two lovely women from the hotel came to help us. We were so grateful! The breakfast brunch was excellent too - we loved having breakfast together each morning and always had a good meal. The rooms were always clean and were well appointed.

In a nutshell: simply fantastic! St. Marks is a mid-sized boutique hotel located in the heart of Bangalore. In the crowded, loud and dusty city centre, this hotel truely is a retreat into a different world. The hotel itself is very nice, clean and well maintained. That is however not even the main reason for visiting them. I was amazed by their restaurant! Being a foody and lover Indian food, I have visited some of the best and fanciest Indian restaurants in New York, London, Mumbai and so on. I thought I had tasted it all, but THESE guys just blew my mind! Even their buffet dinner was simply mindblowing! Try the starters and the different types of bread they do! We basically ate there all the time, apart from an evening visit to another restaurant, upon an invitation from a local business partner. The quality of food in the other restaurant was at least 3 levels lower. Even putting the outstanding restaurant experience aside I can say that their overall service quality was fantastic. Everybody was very friendly and welcoming and they have managed to arrange everything we have asked for in a perfect manner. This is one of the places I can warmly recommend to anybody!

I stayed in Ramada Encore during a medical trip with my family. As I wasn't familiar with Bangalore I didn't really know what to expect, but immediately upon arrival at the Hotel, the excellent quality of service we received from everyone made all of us feel very much at home. The staff at the reception especially went out of their way to help us with any requests and always with a smile! The rooms were very nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. Although there is only one restaurant the food served was consistently good and there were frequent buffets. Once again even in the restaurant excellent service! Hope to be back at Ramada Encore again very soon!

only booked this hotel as we originally were going to have a late arrival, and departure early next day. however, our flight schedule was changed so we arrived having an entire day to fill. on arrival, the hotel staff were absolutely charming and couldn't do enough for us. offered us breakfast for that morning, instead of the following as we were leaving at 5a.m. we could have happily stayed at the hotel all day, enjoying the pool and spacious room, but enquired about a trip into downtown bangalore. sara arranged for a car and driver and we had the best time exploring the city. excellent service. would stay again.

Where to start, the staff are amazing, Jui is the best hostel manager known to man, what a friendly and helpful woman, and now happy to call her my good friend. Methab and Rahul are great, very kind and attentive. The security man is also great and so are the two housekeeping staff members (I don't know there names). The hostel itself is in a great location! Indirinagar is a great area of bangalore. The hostel has a veyy community feel and really feels like home away from home. So much so, that I have returned four times already!!!

I booked this hotel online and expected little for the amount I paid, but the place turned out to be up to the standards of much more expensive hotels I've stayed in around India. The location was good for me, as it was near my business contacts, but others might find it a little out of the way from central Bangalore. The immediate neighborhood is nothing to write home about - the traffic is bad and I think it's the tire center of the city. But Lalbagh is close enough for some relief. The restaurant aspires to the same high value. The only complaint is the noise outside. Construction workers begin their hammering at 6am on weekends.

Particular thanks to the friendly bar staff, who made my stay very enjoyable. The hostel is subdivided into one main building and a smaller "Annex" extension. There are not many places where you can stay for like £4 per night nowadays especially in ever changing and sort after Bangalore! Ok the place is basic but it serves its purpose with plenty of small shops nearby as well as a small water park and indoor snow world less than 10 mins walk. You can be right in the main shopping area in a rickshaw within 10/15 mins for 60p!! Nice place to stay just don't expect luxury for the price!!! Would deffinately stay here again actually it is my 3rd visit!

When I initially saw the building I wasn’t pleased as it did not have a private boundary wall which gave it a dodgy look, in contrast to the pictures that gave it a star look. Once I got into the rooms I was very pleased with its high standards and cleanliness! Looked posh with the bed size/beddings/ lightings, toiletries etc. We had a family suite and it was very comfy! I would definitely recommend if you don’t care about the surroundings and just cared about the room! We just wanted a place to sleep close to airport and was perfect for us!

This hotel has a Great Location : 5 minutes walking distance to Garuda mall , brigade road, MG road , etc. Easy access for auto if you are going out to other places. The service was very nice especially the security guard . except for the housekeeper which is impolite. The room is comfortable and clean. Hot water and air conditioner is working well. As our room is facing the back alley and there is some restaurant, it is quite noisy. The breakfast provided is ok. However, when we want to go for our breakfast we could not find the royal crown cafe as it is not labelled. Overall, the hotel is nice.

It was a miserable experience. We booked two rooms for 25-26 and one room until 29th May. Travelling all way from Mumbai,my sister was not allotted a room although we paid full amount online. We had to live in one upgraded room. Next day they shifted us again to one small congested room. In two days we were shifted thrice and we got so disappointed we packed off our luggage and went to another hotel from 27th to 29th. Solo women travelers never ever believe your online booking invoice and reach there.. you may be left in the lurch!!!!

The hotel is located literally 10-15 feet away from the Manipal Hospital (HAL Airport Rd.) and this therefore ideal for people who come for medical purposes at the Hospital. Rooms are clean. Room service is prompt and courteous. Reception staff are very friendly - Asif and Sayeed went out of their way to make our stay a comfortable one. Hotel doesnt have a travel desk but reception staff has a reliable contact for service providers who arrange money exchange, SIM cards and travel logistics (we needed a 4AM transfer to Airport and it was arranged very well). We highly recommend the Arabian restaurant Zaitoon which is nearby.

this is definitely a good choice for business traveller to electronics city - a relatively new hotel, new facilities, clean and friendly staff. the room was spacious. but i guess the selling point is its location, just at the entrance to electronic city. if you have travelled to bangalore before and if you know the kind of traffic in bangalore in the morning, you will appreciate it proximity to electronics city if you are visiting that area - it took me less than 10 minutes walk to my office from the hotel!

We stayed at Attide for 5 nights. The staffs are really polite, from the security to reception to bellboys and restaurant staff. The location is good for us because we were attending conference in an institute nearby. Plus this is away from the busy traffic jams in town. Decent wifi, lots of tv channels to browse, and most importantly good hot showers. There's a restaurant nearby - Inchara Restaurant which serves excellent food. We highly recommend it! It's just a short walk away from the hotel. It's also relatively easy to get an Uber. Overall we are very satisfied. Price may slightly be on the high side but it's about the best we can get for our conference purposes. Thumbs up for this hotel!

i stayed at the original luxor hotel in 2005 when they first opened. they were okay then, but now they are simply excellent. we highly recommend them. only negative is trying to explain to taxi drivers etc where the monarch luxor is located. we worked out in the end that monarch luxor hotel and infantry road means nothing, but mentioning the gem plaza (it's a few doors down) meant everything. it is well situated though in a quiet area but close to mg road, brigade road and commercial street where most of the action is in bangalore (politicians please note: i, like most people, still like calling it bangalore and not bengaluru which sounds like a village name - not good branding!). another problem, which ravi assured us they were fixing soon with room cabling, was the hassle we had getting a wi-fi connection. if you rang before 10am for their 24 hour subscription ( you couldn't get more than a 24 hour subscription which cost rs225 per day - a bit rich), it took up two hours and several phone calls to reception to get it. apparently they could only issue it when their maintenance guy started work! and if you're thinking "no problem, i've got my own", then forget it if you have either airtel or vodafone, they don't seem to work anywhere in bangalore - fullstop****! very annoying.

considering the location (mg road, the city centre) and the fact that bangalore is one of the most prosperous cities in india (and as such not cheap), this is a hidden gem. the rooms are nicely decorated, the breakfast is ok, and served in a rooftop patio overlooking a posh residential area. staff were very attentive and helpful. as it is a small boutique hotel, and rather new, tuktuk or taxi drivers don't know it, so print out the location map. it is very close to the trinity metro station.

The hotel initially had very good reviews the first few years of operation. The concept was clever for the location in Bangalore. I found the hype to be unwarranted. Time has passed and the property has not aged too well inside. The interior of the room was definitely not of 4-star quality. Issues included: shoddy paint job, the sheets and pillow covers were dirty from age, dust, and food stains, and the noise from inside the hotel was just as bad as the outside. Overall, it was nice to get away for a night, but I feel this could have been a better experience overall. For the price, I could have stayed at the Oberoi or a few other 5-star hotels in the city.

On arrival we were greeted and welcomed by the concierge with the concoction of a "healthy" drink. The hotel is a modern blend of ecclectic and chic. Dinners were tasty and felt like being invited over to your best friend's house. The cost of the meal is affordable and value for money for the portion size. Shout out to Chef Palvinder, he cooks from his heart and made me the best red beans curry with basmati rice. I will recommend this hotel for travelers who are not just in Bangalore for business because the general areas are relaxing enough to read a book during tea time. Most Indian restuarants do not serve autenthic food if they are serving be it Chinese/ Japanese/Korean/Malaysian/Singaporean/Thai/indonesian food. likewise la classic. for a simple japanese soup like miso tofu soup You expect it to have miso taste with tofu. However, there is no miso taste and tofu is replaced by paneer. We don't even need to review on other items on their menu as i think most India restaurants don't really serve autentic food. I think it's fine to make use of what ingredients you have, but you could have named the soup as "Paneer with spring onion soup" It is misleading if you said it otherwise. For a self claim 4 star hotel, I don't think that is acceptable. kudos to the staffs who manage to reduce the amount of salt in their cooking when you make the request though. (Eating salty and spicy is part of India culture I guess) I think I can improve their restaurant food overall if they are willing for change.

Also, Wifi was not included when I booked and was Rs 700 per day extra. Most hotels include WiFi free. The food was exceptionally good, far better than was you get in hotel; would probably classify it as gourmet food. The staff behaviour was what you would expect in a high class hotel. It was very clean and tastefully decorated. The rooms were very good, with all facilities. The staff at the front desk is generally helpful, not much of a complain here. However, I procure the assistance from their travel desk to assist me in getting a 1st class train tickers for me from Bangalore to Hyderabab and specifically requested for 1st class tickets. I instructed him that if not able to confirm tickets booking, to inform me in advance so that I can procure other transportation mode. The train tickets was confirm but to my surprise upon arrival to the train, I was informed that I had a 2nd class ticket. this has cause some disconfort on my side. I personally feel the hotel management should control the person in charge of the travel desk and inprove thier services to the guest. Other than this, generally the stay at the hotel is satisfactory. My appreciation goes to the front desk manager and also the F&B manager for their gracious hospitality to me during my stay there.

This is my first weekend resort stay in Bangalore. After lot of search and based on user reviews I booked a weekend stay in Palm Meadows Club. We are a family of five, including teenage son and twin daughters (two years old). Booked a club room. The room was clean, well maintained and just enough to accommodate our family. Our kids enjoyed the outdoor play area (sand pit) and swimming pool (esp indoor pool, cap is mandatory). Breakfast spread was good, esp availability of south Indian choices. Staff was very friendly. We fully enjoyed our stay, with no major issues and would want to come back again. If you are looking for a relaxing weekend / getaway, would definitely recommend this club.

It was a pleasant stay in Novotel Bangalore for more than 10 days. We were greeted by friendly staff and their service was commendable. My room was always being cleaned and replenished by toiletries on a daily basis. My negative feedback would be their hotel transport service from hotel going to the office which they charged us for 700 rupees considering the short distance of the office from hotel. Since my stay was a business trip reservation in their premier suite room, a free hotel transport service for the whole duration would help to improve their service better regardless it was booked through agoda. Another thing that bothered me was the big mosquitoes outside the hotel where the guests wait for their booked cab. However, the hotel still tried to reduce the mosquitoes by its daily fumigation. Overall experience was nice and comfortable. Food are little bit pricey compared with other 5 star hotel though.

I dont usually give reviews but i feel compelled to write one as per our experience during our short stay at the Ritz Carlton Bangalore. The hotel is nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived at the airport and until our arrival at the hotel, everything was a breeze. We travelled as a family of 4 with two young children for a short Diwali holiday and we got exactly what we needed from our much needed break which is extra care , attention and relaxation. Our children in particular enjoyed so much as their staff is very accommodating and always go out of their way in order for us to feel comfortable. We also enjoyed the pool, hair saloon and spa. All were equally excellent as well. I also feel the need to mention a few names that had been amazing to us throughout our stay, Ms Megha who works in housekeeping had notice we were using the bed runner as a prayer mat so she provided us with one (we thought this was so thoughtful and considerate of her) she even gave the kids chocolates! Ms Devyani from the Bang, bar also is also an exceptionally sweet and a very cheerful person. She is always looking out for us making sure we our needs were attended and also presented the kids with chocolates! (Bless her).Lastly, Mr Jem from The Market restaurant is a superb gentleman. We were so delighted by his outstanding service. Overall, this has to be the best hotel in Bangalore and if not the whole of India in terms of their service and facilities. This was my 2nd stay at the hotel so I really have a lot of thoughts -- especially after seeing some other reviews. Firstly, this is an incredible hotel. It's 5-star rated because it is... 5 star. But, it's not overdone like Oberoi or Taj. Those are great hotels as well, but those hotels can take 5 minutes to walk from your room to the front door. What I love about this hotel is: 1. Size. You can get from your room to anywhere in about 30 seconds. There are only 50 rooms or so. 2. The decor. Is perfect. It's not monsterous or opulent. It's understated perfection. Yes, I've seen more awe inspiring. But, everything here is 100% well done and functional. But, not overdone. An example is the curtains. a) they block 100% of the light and b) you press a button to open/close them. Now that may seem simple but nailing that simplicity is hard. And they do it. 3. The staff. I'm not sure why this is third. Really it should be first. But, I can't say enough about how incredible the staff is. They all care about your experience and do a super job. 4/5/6. I could go on. Like Jayanagar (the neighborhood location within Bangalore) is 15 mins from business center (MG Road, UB, etc) but it's in a quiet neighborhood with parks and playgrounds. I played basketball everyday with the locals. If you will spend weeks somewhere, this unique experience becomes important. Or, food... Wow, 5-star food at neighborhood prices with essentially an extended family. It's just very comfortable and executed perfectly.

Banglore is full of overcrowded roads. Bangalore traffic is certainly the worst in the country today.

Even bikes cannot squeeze through the traffic jams here. It took between 1 to 1.5 hours travelling a distance of 6-7 kilometers from whitefiled to kabbuhalli. The road wuality was not much to write about....dug up everywhere. Once dug up they never repair the roads to be smooth...its a bumpy ride even within the city.

Just stayed at Banglore for our connecting flight to maldives, so cannot exactly comment on the facilities and city

While Bangalore is obviously getting more crowded with more migrants from other parts of India, the cosmopolitan nature of the city keeps growing.

What is on offer for dining, nightlife, hospitality, and any other trip- related ventures is improving each day and after each visit. There is something for everyone and the city still maintains it's inherent place as a more relaxed metro in India, especially compared to places like Mumbai and Delhi. It is also very clear that there is competitive, yet positive landscape in all aspects of fun and hospitality in Bangalore, which is allowing for different parts of the city to show off their establishments- such as very good restaurants in Koramangala, Indiranagar, JP Nagar. It is no longer necessary to just count on the 5- star hotels to deliver on quality service.

A very busy city traffic wise. There is plenty to see here, but sites are spread out, so need to use rickshaws.

The Bengaluru Palace is definitely worth a visit and also the Lalbagh Botanical gardens, but go in the late afternoon or early morning when it is cooler.

Bangalore is wonderful city to visit, but you must be prepared for garbage everywhere on streets,and there are numerous poor begging for food and money daily.

Traffic is horrendous and plan on lots of time to get to destination by tuc tuc or cab. The wild dogs population is bad too.. lots roaming around in poor health conditions. You have to be very open minded to look past trash and building conditions and just enjoy the smiling lovely friendly people of India...

The Silicon valley of India with an office from nearly every major software company in the world. Tourist attractions are the Vidhana Soudha Assembly Hall, Cubbon Park - reminiscent of NYC's Central Park, Lal Bagh Botanical Garden, Bangalore Palace, Wonderla water park and Nandi Hills.

A lot of other beautiful picnic locations spread around that are accessible from Bangalore like Talakadu, Shivanasamudra Waterfalls, Mekedhatu, Chennapatna etc. A shopping hub as well boasting of most of the biggest names in fashion.

A clean city with much to offer in terms of shopping. However prices are high as Dehli. Not much sightseeing, unless you plan a trip to Mysore (3hours).

I loved the various ethnic populations met there. Truly a mix of Indians. Friendly people, very few beggars and overall a safe city with nightlife.

As a woman travelling alone, I would suggest do not go to India unless you have some kind of tour with fellow English speaking tourists booked. I had the shock of my life, got sick and came home. I will never go back alone, and definitely not backpacking.

Bengaluru, formerly Bangalore , is the capital city of Karnataka in south India. The city has earned several names such as Silicon Valley of India, Pub Capital of India, Air Conditioned City, and City of Gardens. However, prior to the IT revolution, Bengaluru was known as Pensioners' Paradise.

Now, it's a wonderful blend of past and present. Although Bengaluru may not have as many iconic attractions as other major cities in India, it does have a great mix of history, architecture, culture, spirituality, and nature.

Bangalore Palace

Built for Chamaraja Wadiyar X in 1887, the design of Bangalore Palace was inspired by England's Windsor Castle . As a result, this evocative palace has Tudor-style architecture with fortified towers, arches, green lawns, and elegant woodcarvings in its interiors.

The royal family still lives here today, and the palace is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays.

National Gallery of Modern Art

If you're an art lover, don't miss visiting the National Gallery of Modern Art on Palace Road. This gallery, which opened in 2009, is the third of its kind in India (the others are in Delhi and Mumbai).

It's housed in a Colonial mansion with a garden setting and has two interconnected wings, one of which features works from the early 18th century up until India's Independence while the other displays work from a large number of modern and contemporary artists.

The gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m until 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. It's closed on Monday. There is a cafe on the premises as well, which is open fewer hours than the gallery itself.

Tipu Sultan's Palace and Fort

Situated inside the Bangalore Fort area, Tipu Sultan's Palace was originally built by Kempe Gowda using mud. Later, Hyder Ali started reconstruction in Indo-Islamic architecture. This was completed by his son, Tipu Sultan, in 1791.

The Hindu temple seen in the courtyard of the fort is the proof of Tipu Sultan's religious tolerance. The palace is open daily from 8.30 a.m. until 5.30 p.m. daily. Combine visiting it with nearby Krishna Rajendra Market.

Krishna Rajendra (KR) Market

This vivid, traditional local market is an assault on the senses and a treat for photographers, and in the middle of it, you'll find Bengaluru's bustling flower market. The market also sells a variety of fresh produce, spices, and copper items.

Go there in the early morning to best experience the colors and crowds, when piles of fresh stock are being unloaded and sold.

Lalbagh Botanical Garden

This expansive garden started out as a private Mughal-style garden for the city's royal rulers. It was established in 1760 by Hyder Ali and later extended by his son Tipu Sultan.

It now covers 240 acres and derives its name from the red roses that bloom throughout the year there. The garden is said to have the most diverse species of plants in the world. Its focal point is a majestic glasshouse, built in 1889 to commemorate the visit of the Prince of Wales. It was designed along the lines of the Crystal Palace in London.

The garden is open daily from 6.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. throughout the year. It takes on a festive look during India's Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations, with a captivating show of over 200 varieties of flowers. The show also features an exhibition of hybrid vegetables.

Cubbon Park

Occupying a 300-acre area in Bangalore's business district, Cubbon Park is a popular place for walkers, joggers, nature lovers, and anyone who just wants to laze around. The park was named after the erstwhile Commissioner of Mysore, Sir Mark Cubbon. Many ornamental and flowering trees, both exotic and indigenous, can be found there. Kids will enjoy the special Bal Bhavan play area and aquarium inside the park.

Vidhana Soudha

First opened in 1956, Vidana Soudha is a landmark of Bengaluru and is located next to Cubbon Park. This enormous building is a massive example of neo-Dravidian architecture, complete with four domes on its four corners. It houses the Legislative Chamber of Karnataka Government and accommodates many other government departments. Unfortunately, it's not open to the public but is stunningly illuminated at night.

This eye-catching red, two-storied building, built in 1867 under the reign of Tipu Sultan, has magnificent neoclassical architecture. It houses the High Court and many lower courts, and sits opposite Vidana Soudha at the entrance to Cubbon Park.

Close to the Court is the red, Gothic-style State Central Library building, with imposing stone and fluted pillars. Nearby, the highlight at the Government Museum is a collection of artifacts and stone carvings dating back to the 12th century, and excavated from places including Hampi . Adjacent to the Museum is Venkatappa Art Gallery, devoted to displaying famous paintings, plaster of Paris works and wooden sculptures of renowned artist Venkatappa (who painted for the royal family). Tickets for the museum also provide entry to the art gallery.

Ulsoor Lake

Picturesque Ulsoor Lake is spread over an area of 125 acres in the heart of the city, north of M.G. Road. It was constructed by Kempe Gowda II. It's open daily, except Wednesdays, from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Boating facilities are provided by the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation. There's also a walking track around the lake.
