Event Description

Over 50 years ago, cousins Teddy Gentry, Randy Owen and the late Jeff Cook left the cotton farms of Fort Payne, Alabama to spend the summer playing music in a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina bar called The Bowery. It's a classic American tale of rags to riches. From humble beginnings picking cotton in the fields to international stars, ALABAMA went on to sell 80 million albums and change the face and sound of country music. 

Quality songs that have become the soundtrack for American life are the foundation for ALABAMA's stellar career. The group introduced rock style guitars, lights, pyrotechnics and sounds to the country audience that has inspired many of today's brightest country stars including Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan. While their music continues to stand the test of time, their numbers and stats are beyond compare.

Five decades since starting the band, ALABAMA has charted 43 #1 singles, including 21 #1 singles in a row, and have won dozens of CMA, GRAMMY®, and ACM Awards. They are members of the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Musicians Hall of Fame and have their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. No. 3 Xander Schauffele (+750), No, 7 Collin Morikawa (+1000), No. 4 Ludvig Aberg (+1400) and No. 6 Viktor Hovland and No. 8 Patrick Cantlay (each at +2000) round out the top 5 spots. Defending champion and No. 17 Keegan Bradley is +5000.

THE NEWS that AARP would be sponsoring the Rolling Stones’ 2024 American tour struck more than a few outside observers as unusual when it was announced last November.

But it was clear to both sides that it was an opportunity too good to miss.

“When they approached us as tour sponsor, it was a no-brainer; the band’s legendary status, longevity and timeless appeal across generations makes this fun for everyone, whether it’s their first Stones concert or their 50th,” says Martha Boudreau, AARP’s Chief Communications and Marketing Officer.

As the tour’s late-April kickoff approached, the feeling that the collaboration was a great fit continued to build. “On the heels of AARP’s 65th anniversary, it’s a unique opportunity to celebrate the Rolling Stones’ more than 60 years of recording and performing,” Boudreau says. AARP members agreed– buying out a huge bloc tickets offered exclusively to them late last year.

AARP will join the Rolling Stones at all 17 U.S. shows of its North American tour culminating in Santa Clara, California, on July 17. And AARP will have a spot inside the stadium concourses at each show, as well as being featured on the big screen before the band plays.

Nestled by merch stands, concertgoers will find AARP’s tour exhibit, where among other things they can take a humblebrag photo in front of a green screen of tour branding and Rolling Stones imagery.

One thing that makes the AARP sponsorship serendipitous is the connection between music and brain health, a topic explored deeply in the December 2023/January 2024 issue of this magazine. Music, for example, is one of the few established tools for helping people with Alzheimer’s, a disease that affects an estimated 6.7 million Americans over 65. The band’s lineup has changed through the years but is still anchored by the duo of singer Mick Jagger, 80, and guitarist Keith Richards, 80. Cazenovia, N.Y. — Owera Vineyards has re-opened its tasting room on East Lake Road in Cazenovia for the first time since last fall.

And the 11-year-old winery is still hoping town officials will approve a plan for a new building that will allow it to resume hosting weddings, parties and other events. Last fall, Owera cancelled all its scheduled weddings and events for 2024 as part of an ongoing battle with some of its neighbors and town officials.

There's no hole in the historic nature of National Donut Day , which lands on Friday, June 7.

While many made-up food-related "holidays" exist – among them, National Hamburger Day and National Wine Day celebrated most recently – National Donut Day has some historical basis.

The Salvation Army  in 1938 established the first Friday in June as National Donut Day to honor the organization's Donut Lassies, women who traveled to France to serve donuts and other snacks to soldiers during World War I.

These days, the date gives lovers of donuts – or doughnuts, as Krispy Kreme and some other purveyors refer to them – a sweet chance at some freebies, bargains and special treats.

Dunkin' National Donut Day deal, plus donut-shaped sponges

For National Donut Day on Friday, June 7, you can get a free classic donut of your choice at Dunkin' with the purchase of any beverage while supplies last.

You can also order limited-edition donut-shaped Scrub Daddy and Scrub Mommy sponges – a clean collaboration with Dunkin' – online for $9.98 . Each order comes with one Scrub Daddy scrubbing sponge and one Scrub Mommy, which has a scrubbing surface on one side and a sponge on the other.

Krispy Kreme

Get a free doughnut in person, no purchase necessary, on Friday, June 7. Special, or “limited edition” doughnuts are not part of the promotion. You can also get an original glazed dozen for $2 with the purchase of any dozen in stores or the drive-thru at participating Krispy Kreme locations.

Members of the convenience store chain's 7Rewards loyalty program can get a glazed donut for $1 on Friday, June 7.

Get a free donut Friday through Sunday, June 7-9, when you buy any Sheetz Bros coffee or ready-to-drink coffee at any of the major mid-Atlantic gas stations, restaurants and convenience chain locations. ◾ Dutch Bros. Coffee: The coffee chain is celebrating National Donut Day on June 7 with a special specialty drink, the Jelly Donut Shake.

◾ GPM Investments: Members of the Fas rewards loyalty program can buy one donut, get one free on Friday, June 7. The date also is the beginning of Free Frazil Fridays where customers can fill up a small-sized frozen drink and scan it for free at the register on Fridays in June at participating convenience stores. ARKO-owned, GPM Investments-operated convenience stores include 1 Stop, Apple Market, Corner Mart, Dixie Mart, Fas mart, ExpressStop, E-Z Mart, lash Market, Jetz, Market Express, Next Door Store, Roadrunner Markets, Rose Mart, Village Pantry, Scotchman and Young's.

Everyone’s in – including you. The UEFA EURO 2024™ tournaments is right around the corner, and to help build on the anticipation, we're excited to share all the new features coming to EA SPORTS FC™ 24 as part of our Festival of Football Update (TU#16).

This update adds a brand new gameplay experience, bringing you closer to the heart of European football through the authentic UEFA EURO 2024 Game Mode. We’re also introducing the Festival of Football in Football Ultimate Team, celebrating  international competition through live content campaigns based on results on the pitch. Plus, we’ll share some details on some additions coming to skill moves, celebrations, Clubs and Career. Let’s dive in! 

UEFA EURO 2024 MODE

Hey everyone, I'm Alexandru Marin, the Lead Producer for the UEFA EURO 2024 mode in EA SPORTS FC 24. I invite you to experience the European stage in a vibrant and authentic atmosphere. UEFA EURO 2024™ TOURNAMENTS

Play the most authentic UEFA EURO 2024 experience with real-life stadiums, broadcast packages, match ball and the coveted trophy, bringing the tournament's atmosphere to your screen. Dive into the official tournament mode, playing with teams that will feature in the UEFA EURO 2024 tournament.

For those looking to rewrite history, set up a custom tournament that allows you to play with European teams and players who didn’t make the cut.

LEAD YOUR NATION

Play as an individual player or create your own custom Avatar to captain the team of your choice on the road to Berlin. As you play through the stages, you can control just that player or the whole national team. Complete training drills before each match to earn up to seven PlayStyles and enhance your game as you lead your country.

ONLINE FRIENDLIES

Experience the UEFA EURO 2024 Final atmosphere at the Olympiastadion Berlin as you reignite your competitive spirit with online friendlies. These allow you to challenge friends using any of the 24 qualified teams or from any other European national squad available in the game. Online Friends cross-play will be available for players on the same platform generation.

THE EUROPEAN JOURNEY

Embark on the European Journey and earn rewards across your favourite game modes by completing challenges themed around the different ways to play UEFA EURO 2024. Completing all the challenges will earn you a reward to embark on a new journey. The final reward will be revealed after the tournament ends. 

FOOTBALL ULTIMATE TEAM

Welcome to the latest update from the EA SPORTS FC Team, where we're excited to welcome you to the Festival of Football. This season is all about celebrating the international football window, bringing a wave of excitement and engagement to Football Ultimate Team. 

Let's dive into what's in store for our players as we embark on this football journey together.

FESTIVAL OF FOOTBALL

The Festival of Football is our kickoff to Season 7, designed to bring the thrill of international competition right into Football Ultimate Team. As  international competition takes centre stage in the football world, we're mirroring that excitement with themed content that spans the entire seasonal ladder. Keep an eye out for live items that will bring a dynamic element to your team, reflecting the real-world performances and fervour of these tournaments.

PATH TO GLORY

Kicking off the Festival of Football is Path to Glory. The Path to Glory Campaign follows each nation's step towards silverware. The unique aspect of Path to Glory players is their ability to upgrade based on their nation's form throughout the tournament. 

GREATS OF THE GAME

In addition to current stars, we're paying homage to the legends of the game. Greats of the Game will feature ICONs & Heroes whose upgrades are tied to the goals scored by their nation during the tournament. This celebrates the players who have left an indelible mark on the game.

NEW LOAN TYPES

The Festival of Football Update will also feature new types of loans. There’s two new loan types we’ll be introducing into the game alongside traditional Match Loans; Timed Loans & Global Loans. 

When you log in to Football Ultimate Team during the Path to Glory Campaign, you’ll receive Global Loan (more details below) of a Path to Glory Player to help give your squad an international boost. 

Match Loans  First and foremost, we want to clarify that the traditional Match Loans, which many of you are familiar with, will remain unchanged. The two new loan types are additional to Match Loans.

Global Loans  Global Loans apply to all players simultaneously. Global Loans begin on a set date and time for everyone and count down to a predetermined end point together. When the timer reaches zero, the loan item will no longer be usable and will be removed from your club. 

We think the addition of Global Loans will provide new squad building opportunities for the wider community, leading to new and interesting line ups through an increase in themed content. During the international competition we’ll introduce Global Loans for the first time in EA SPORTS FC 24, to help create an international takeover in Football Ultimate Team. 

Festival of Football Global Loans will expire on July 18.

ADDITIONAL UPDATES

The Festival of Football Update also brings changes across the game from a new skill move and an ice-cold celebration, to enhancements to the Clubs and Manager Career.

These additions are based on feedback and designed to improve gameplay and ensure your experience is both rewarding and enjoyable.

First up, we've introduced a new skill move called the Double Touch Lane Change that's sure to be a hit with players who love to dazzle on the pitch with their technical prowess. This addition comes later in the calendar, but it's definitely worth the wait for those who thrive on skillful play.

Additionally, we're bringing a new celebration to the game. Inspired by Cole Palmer's standout season at Chelsea, this celebration can be executed with Cole Palmer across Kickoff, Career, and Football Ultimate Team modes. For those looking to celebrate in style with any player, this celebration can be unlocked in the Football Ultimate Team Season 7 Festival of Football ladder.

MANAGER CAREER

Youth Prospects scouting and development is a big part of Manager Career experience. For our Manager Career enthusiasts, we’ve made changes in Title Update #16 that will bring new and exciting additions to the youth system.

Over the course of your Manager Career you will be able to scout Youth Prospects with 90+ potential and seven PlayStyles. Such players that came through your Youth Academy will now develop two PlayStyles+! The first PlayStyle+ will be unlocked at 80 OVR and second will be unlocked at 90 OVR. This is the only way possible in Manager Career to have a player with two PlayStyles+.

We are looking forward to seeing our community sharing prospects they scouted and nurtured to become generation talent!

For our Clubs players, we're adding a permanent double XP multiplier to any experience gained after a match in FC 24. Which means accelerated progression for your Virtual Pro - faster way to unlock extra slots and different available PlayStyles for your Virtual Pro. By simply playing any match in Clubs (ex. drop-in or league game) you will notice an increased amount of earned XP. And remember that the amount of XP is also based on the Match Rating - the better your performance in the game the faster the progression.  

This is a fantastic opportunity for players looking to catch up to friends and find new ones in FC 24, ensuring everyone can enjoy Clubs experience regardless of their starting point.

Title Update #16 brings 27 new player star heads to EA SPORTS FC 24. You can expect to see improved likenesses of players across the Premier League, including players like Rodri, Sven Botman, Pedro Porro and Eberechi Eze.

Please note that these star heads will become visible following a Server Release that will come shortly after the Festival of Football Update.
