What we do...

Many of us have witnessed the ever changing landscape of the River Lagan, be it spring time with swans meandering along or the twinkling cityscape of the ever growing development along its banks... but few of us have made it on to the water. Now is your chance! 

Join us as head up the River Lagan on a boat tour of Belfast to enjoy this much loved, often sung about, stretch of water in our city.  

You’ll join us at the Lagan Weir to meet the crew and hop aboard to hear the history of our boat and the waterway that gave Belfast its name.  We cruise for up to 2 hours as we travel towards the newest weir at Stranmillis in South Belfast.  We’ll pass under historic bridges, see notable buildings and sculpture, as well as getting an up close view of the wildlife along the way.

Waterways Belfast Boat Tours

Unbelievable way to experience the water and the stunning coastline! Tim was a legend, great craic from start to finish and accommodating for all passengers! The trips are a rush but the views are something else. 5 star barely cuts it!

Great trip to the Isle of Mann to see the TT, highly exciting and adventurous trip it was, great professional crew and eager to please, well kitted out with waterproof suits and life jackets, definitely not to be missed, I will be back on Abhainn Cruises without a doubt..

'the back & Forth' and 'the Out & Abo ut' Two Classic Wooden Lobster Boats Offering Unique Nautical Experiences 

2024 Season Starts June1st!

Our two classic wooden lobster boats are exactly as described, they’re old, made of wood, can carry a maximum of 6 passengers and are classed as lobster boats… the experiences we offer onboard them are designed to create memories you will treasure forever.  We really mean it, ‘The Back & Forth' literally takes you on a treasure hunting trip with a Pirate and when you find it, you get to keep it forever! Real treasure, a physical memory. 'The # Cruise' stops off at the legendary Youngs Lobster pound (get it?) for a unique behind the scenes tour and if you want one you can add on a humongous lobster roll, you could keep the lobster roll wrapper as a keepsake, but it's probably not advisable and can’t really be considered as the treasure. Maybe take some photos and post them on social media, thats less stinky, but you will get to treasure the memories made onboard. I think you catch our drift. You also came to visit the area at a good time, we now have a second boat out of nearby Bucksport 'The Out & About'! Bucksport waterways offer an even more scenic enviroment away from the hustle and bustle of Belfast harbor. The dock is located right next to the formidable Fort Knox, you can take the 'Fort'uitous Cruise' to learn about the history of the Fort and usually spot seals, eagles and even Maine dolphins aka harbor porpoise! 'The Lobstah Shopping' cruise is an experience that lets you learn about and experience life as a lobsterman, pull traps and then visit a local lobsterman's boat to buy your fill! Our Captains and Guides would always love to take care of you on a 'Private Tour' where you are the boss, go where you want, drive the boat, learn the basics of seamanship and more. 'The Out And About  - Bu cksport, Maine '  A 34ft traditional wooden lobster boat built in 196 8 right here in Maine. Our larger boat offe ring 3  scenic  experiences that are betw een 1/ 2 hour - 2 hours long.
