It’s amazing how sometimes just a single sentence can instantly pierce your heart. These powerful Christian quotes below have each left an imprint on my own heart and are certainly worth sharing. I hope that each of them is an encouragement to you and causes you to draw closer to your Savior as you think upon His goodness and grace.

Powerful Christian Quotes

Although, in some circumstances, it may be true that actions speak louder than words, it’s equally true that the words we speak (both positive and negative) can have a powerful impact on the listener. The words of each of these men and women below offer tiny nuggets of wisdom pointing us directly back to our Creator.

Bible Verses About Journey

Genesis 12:1.

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.”

This verse marks the beginning of Abram’s journey of faith when God called him to leave everything behind and go to a land that He would reveal to him. It highlights the importance of obedience and trust in God’s guidance, even when the destination is unknown. The journey of faith often requires us to step out of our comfort zones and embrace the unknown, trusting that God will lead us to where He wants us to be.

Exodus 13:21

By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.

During the Israelites’ journey from Egypt to the Promised Land, God provided them with His presence through a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. This verse illustrates God’s constant guidance and provision for His people on their journey. It reminds us that God is not only with us in our journey but also goes before us, leading the way and illuminating our path.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

This well-known verse from Psalm 23 serves as a reminder that God is with us even in the most challenging and difficult times of our journey. It reassures us that we need not fear because His presence and His guidance bring comfort and assurance. No matter how dark the valley may be, we can find solace in the fact that God is beside us, protecting, guiding, and comforting us.

Proverbs 16:9

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

This verse emphasizes the sovereignty of God in guiding our journeys. While we may make plans and set our own course, it is ultimately the Lord who directs our steps. It teaches us to trust in God’s wisdom and guidance, allowing Him to lead us on the right path. Our journeys may not always go according to our plans, but we can have confidence that God’s plan is better and His steps will ultimately lead us to where He wants us to be.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

This verse reminds us that on our journey, our strength does not come from our own efforts but from our hope in the Lord. When we place our trust in Him, He renews our strength and empowers us to persevere. It encourages us to continue walking, running, and soaring in faith, knowing that with God’s help, we will not grow weary or faint.

Matthew 28:19-20

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Known as the Great Commission, these verses highlight the mission and journey that Jesus has entrusted to His followers. He commands them to go and make disciples, baptizing them and teaching them to follow His teachings. The assurance of His presence accompanies this command, assuring that He will be with them every step of the way. These verses remind us of the important role we have in spreading the Gospel and the certainty of Christ’s continual presence with us on this journey.

Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

These words of Jesus express the high cost and commitment of following Him. It calls for a daily surrender of our own desires and self-centeredness, taking up our cross and faithfully following Him. This verse challenges us to examine our motives and priorities in our journey of discipleship, prompting us to assess whether we are truly willing to deny ourselves and walk in obedience to Christ’s teachings.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

This powerful statement by Jesus reminds us that He is not only our guide on this journey but also the means by which we can reach the destination – eternal life with the Father. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the source of salvation and the path we must follow. This verse underscores the exclusivity of Jesus as the only path to God and challenges us to place our faith in Him alone as we navigate our journey of faith.

Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

This verse offers encouragement and assurance that even in the midst of our journey’s challenges and trials, God is working for our good. It reminds us that our journey is not haphazard, but rather guided by God’s purpose. Even when we don’t understand the reasons behind our circumstances, we can trust that God is at work, using all things for our ultimate benefit and His greater plan.

2 Corinthians 5:7

For we live by faith, not by sight.

This verse encapsulates the perspective we should adopt as we navigate our journey of faith. It calls us to live by faith, trusting in God’s promises and guidance, even when we cannot see the outcomes or understand the path ahead. Our journey of faith requires us to step out in trust and rely on the unseen, knowing that our faith in God’s goodness and faithfulness will sustain us along the way.

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

These verses highlight the qualities that should be evident in our lives as we journey with the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit serves as a roadmap, guiding us towards a life marked by love, joy, peace, and other virtues. It reminds us that our journey of faith should result in a transformation of character, as we yield to the work of the Spirit within us.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

This verse emphasizes the purpose and intention behind our journey of faith. We are not aimlessly wandering, but rather God’s handiwork, created with a specific purpose. Our journey is not only about personal transformation but also about participating in the good works that God has prepared for us. It reminds us that our lives have significance and that God has uniquely equipped us to make a positive impact in the world.

Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

This verse reassures us that our journey of faith is not a one-time event but a lifelong process. God, who initiated the work of transformation within us, will continue to work in and through us until the day of Christ’s return. It offers hope and encouragement, knowing that God’s work in us is not dependent on our own strength or capabilities but on His faithfulness and power.

Colossians 3:2-3

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

These verses remind us of the proper focus and mindset we should have on our journey of faith. Our minds should be set on heavenly things, not consumed by earthly concerns. They invite us to live with an eternal perspective, recognizing that our true life is found in Christ and our identity is hidden with Him. It challenges us to detach ourselves from the temporary and fix our gaze on the eternal, seeking to align our desires and priorities with God’s kingdom purposes.

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

This verse provides a succinct definition of faith, which is a foundational aspect of our journey of faith. It describes faith as having confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we cannot see. Our journey with God is a journey of faith, requiring trust and belief in His promises and unseen realities. It challenges us to cultivate and strengthen our faith as we continue to walk with Him, knowing that our faith has the power to move mountains and bring about God’s purposes in our lives.

James 1:2-4

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

These verses offer a perspective shift on our journey, encouraging us to consider trials and challenges as an opportunity for growth and maturation. While our natural inclination may be to avoid difficulties, this passage teaches us that the testing of our faith produces perseverance, which leads to maturity and completeness. It reminds us that our journey will have its share of trials, but by embracing them with joy and endurance, we allow God to refine us and make us more like Christ.

1 Peter 2:21

To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

This verse calls us to follow in the footsteps of Christ, our ultimate example, who suffered for us. It reminds us that our journey of faith may entail suffering and hardships, but they are an essential part of our calling. Just as Christ’s suffering had a purpose, so too can our suffering bring about God’s redemptive work in and through us. It challenges us to embrace the example set by Christ and to faithfully walk in His footsteps, even when the path is difficult.

2 Peter 1:5-7

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

These verses outline a progression of virtues that should characterize our journey of faith. It begins with faith as the foundation and calls us to supplement it with goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection, and love. This passage challenges us to cultivate and develop these qualities in our lives as we continue to walk with God, ultimately leading to a life that reflects the image of Christ.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

This verse emphasizes the importance of walking in the light, which means living in righteousness and aligning our lives with God’s truth. It promises fellowship with one another and the purifying power of Jesus’ blood for those who walk in the light. It encourages us to examine our lives and strive for holiness, not only for our own benefit but also for the sake of our relationships with others and our communion with God.

Revelation 21:2-4

I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

These verses offer a glimpse of the ultimate destination of our journey of faith – the new Jerusalem, where God’s dwelling place will be among His people. It describes a future reality characterized by the absence of sorrow, pain, and death. This vision brings hope and encouragement, reminding us that our journey is ultimately leading us to an eternal, glorious existence in the presence of God. It serves as a reminder to persevere, knowing that the trials and struggles of our present journey are temporary in light of the eternal joy that awaits us.

What Does the Bible Say About Journey?

In the Bible, the concept of journey is often used to symbolize the Christian life. Our journey begins when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and it continues as we walk with Him daily.

One of the most famous journeys in the Bible is the Israelites’ journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. This journey is a powerful illustration of how God leads and provides for His people as they walk in obedience to Him. Their journey was not always easy, but God was faithful to them every step of the way.

In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul frequently speaks of the Christian life as a journey. He encourages us to “walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called” (Ephesians 4:1) and to “run with endurance the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1). This reminds us that the Christian life is not a sprint but a marathon, and we are to persevere and remain steadfast in our faith.

Jesus Himself also spoke about the journey of following Him. He said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6), emphasizing that He is the one who leads us on this journey. As we follow Him, He promises to be with us always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).

Our journey as Christians is a process of growth and transformation. We are called to continually press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14). Through the Holy Spirit, we are being sanctified and refined as we journey closer to God and become more like His Son, Jesus Christ.

As we journey through life, we are also called to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19) and to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others along the way. Our journey is not just for our own benefit, but also for the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom.

In conclusion, the Bible portrays the Christian life as a journey filled with purpose, challenges, and blessings. We are called to walk in faith, obedience, and perseverance, knowing that God is with us every step of the way. Our ultimate goal is to reach our heavenly home, where we will dwell with the Lord forever.

It is the belief that there is a higher power, God , who is in control of the universe and has a plan for our lives. This belief gives us hope and purpose, especially in times of uncertainty and doubt. It reminds us that we are not alone and that there is a divine purpose for our existence. By placing our trust in God and surrendering to His will, we can find peace and strength to navigate life's challenges. This belief in something greater than ourselves provides us with a solid foundation and a sense of direction in our journey.

Finding Strength in Adversity

Adversity is an inevitable part of life, and it is during these challenging times that our faith is truly tested. Finding strength in adversity requires a deep trust in God's plan and a firm belief that He will provide the strength and guidance needed to overcome any obstacle. It is through adversity that we can grow and develop a stronger character. By relying on our faith and seeking solace in prayer, we can find the inner strength to persevere. By surrendering our worries and fears to God, we can find peace and reassurance that He is in control. Faith in God's plan allows us to let go of our own desires and trust that His ways are greater than our own. 24 Hopeful Bible Verses for New Beginnings in Your Life

Above my desk, scratched into a neon green Post-It is the phrase, “Always, we begin again,” by St. Augustine. It’s a reminder as I come into my office every day to work, that beginning again is a part of life. But God is with me every step of the way. New beginnings can be anything from entering into the New Year, moving to a new city, saying goodbye to your old job in order to start a business from home, to beginning a new relationship. New beginnings are happening all around us—in fact, God gives us a new beginning every time He wakes us in the early dawn hours. In fact, the Bible has a lot to say about new beginnings.

Should Christians Be Anxious about New Beginnings?

He said this to the Israelites who had wearied Him with their fear, sin, and disobedience. Part of it is what He tells them in this passage, that He will provide water in desolate places to turn a wasteland into a fruitful land. He is doing the same for us, no matter what new beginning we are facing. God always does new things, or “He makes all things new” ( Rev 21:5 ). He never changes, but as He reveals deeper and deeper layers of the truth, His people experience aspects of God and His salvation in brand new ways and depths.

God also gave us the Holy Spirit is the difference-maker who enables us to walk by faith in obedience to Christ. The Holy Spirit allows us to abide in Him. In Isaiah 41:10 God tells us to not to fear. He says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” When we are tempted to fear, we need to remember that God is with us. God promises us that he will never leave us nor forsake us ( Hebrews 13:5 ). His Word also says that He will go with us ( Deuteronomy 31:6 ). We do not have to face tomorrow or our fears alone.

God created us and He knows each specific fear we have. He created our inmost being and knit us together in our mother’s womb ( Psalm 139:13 ), which includes authoring every day of our lives, God says to his prophet in Jeremiah 1:5 , “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.”

Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 :  “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Ephesians 4:22-24 :  “To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”

Romans 6:4 :  “We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”

New beginnings are just that—new. It will feel different, it won’t be the same as before, but God is with you. He wants the best for you and works all things together for your good. If you’re feeling pangs of anxiety or are worried about the unknown, the Bible is filled with encouragement and is a great source of wisdom, foundational truths, and strength. Embrace a fresh start in Jesus Christ with the words of 2 Corinthians 5:17 , "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."

75+ Inspirational Christian Quotes

“Have mercy oh gracious Father! upon all that are now suffering from whatsoever cause, that are in any circumstance of danger or distress. Give them patience under every affliction, strengthen, comfort and relieve them.” ~ Jane Austen

75+ Inspirational Christian Quotes

Christian quotes aren’t hard to find. You can find them on keychains, coffee mugs, your own Facebook page, and a dozen other places. Christian quotes are usually short, catchy, and written in looping calligraphy, and more often than not, they’re cheesy enough to make us roll our eyes.

But not all Christian quotes are like that. Some of them barge into our brains and refuse to leave. Some of them stick with us. Change us. Make us better.

Christian Quotes to Inspire You

I’ve been exposed to Christian literature my whole life, so here are seven of my favorite Christian quotes that have stuck with me and have since made me better. We have then included over 50 of the most popular Christian quotes that can provide timely encouragement on topics important to your faith.

1. John Piper

God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him.

What it means to me: The more we rely on God, and the more we let ourselves be content with Him, the more God makes Himself evident in our lives.

What to do about it: Realize that while the world is a beautiful place, it can never fill up our souls the way God does. You don’t need to remodel the bathroom; you need God. You don’t need a new car; you need God. Realize that, and you’ll have a much harder time griping when life doesn’t go your way.

2. Rick Warren

God’s purpose is greater than our problems.

What it means to me:   Human life is a messy business — a hodge-podge of everything from minor inconveniences to death itself. God is bigger than every single one of those things.

What to do about it:   Human life and all its problems may be messy, but it is also temporary. Realize that while it’s natural and necessary to grieve, even the most excruciating physical and emotional pain can become insignificant as a fly when faced with the Almighty God.

3. RC Sproul

We are secured not because we hold tightly to Jesus, but because he holds tightly to us.

What it means to me: I’m a fickle person who can’t possibly love God with anything other than broken promises, mixed motivations, and selfish intentions. I can’t possibly hold onto God with that kind of heart, but I’m saved because, despite all that, God doesn’t want to let me go.

What to do about it: If you’re not sure whether or not you’re a “good Christian,” remember that there is no such thing. Moses’s burst of anger got him barred from the Promised Land. King David committed adultery, murder, and an attempted coverup of both. Peter denied his love for Jesus three times. If these biblical heroes, who were also completely human were saved by God, then you can, too.

4. C.S. Lewis

You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.

What it means to me:   It’s true that we’ve made a lot of mistakes, and it’s true that we can’t go back and change them. But God cares much less about our pasts than about helping us move forward in a better way.

What to do about it: Quit wallowing in all the things you’ve done wrong and go live your life! Yes, it’s important to examine your mistakes, learn from them, and make amends, however possible. But the more time you spend looking at your past, the less time you spend looking at God.

5. Oswald Chambers

We are all ill-taught if we look for results only in the earthlies when we pray. A praying saint performs far more havoc among the unseen forces of darkness than we have the slightest notion of.

What it means to me: The phrase “all we can do is pray” is nonsense. Poppycock. Codswallop. Even if your prayers don’t heal your loved one’s sickness, or keep your spouse from getting laid off, or make this or that politician act like a decent human being for once, your prayers do something better: They draw upon the strength of God, and they use that strength to win the battle for your soul.

What to do about it: Learn to pray for what God wants, not what you want. Ask Him what His will is before you pray for what your will is.

6. Watchman Nee

Good is not always God’s will, but God’s will is always good.

What it means to me:   God doesn’t just passively watch as Satan wreaks havoc; He actively allows bad things to happen. The fact that God challenged Satan to destroy Job’s family, living, and health for the sake of a bet is proof of that. But God used that bet to teach Job that his friends weren’t good friends at all, it isn’t his place to question God, and that faith is stronger than even the most devastating hardships.

What to do about it: No matter how terrible life gets, don’t let yourself get fixated on the waves that crash around you. Instead, focus on Jesus and walk across the water.

7. Billy Graham

God proved His love on the cross. When Christ hung, and bled, and died, it was God saying to the world, “I love you.”

What it means to me: It means that nothing we do, nothing we say, and nothing we think can be big enough to make God turn away from us. This one act — this one attack that won the war between God and death — is living proof that the gospel is real. That God means it when He gives love in return for our hate.

What to do about it: Think about this, the greatest “I-love-you,” every minute of every day. Share it. Live by it. Be defined by it. God let Jesus be spit on and flogged and crucified so that humans could be His family. In light of that simple truth, everything beautiful becomes more so, and everything ugly becomes insignificant.

Christian Quotes About Love

Those in the circle of Christ had no doubt of his love; those in our circles should have no doubt about ours. - Max Lucado

Our vision is so limited we can hardly imagine a love that does not show itself in protection from suffering... The love of God did not protect His own Son... He will not necessarily protect us – not from anything it takes to make us like His Son. A lot of hammering and chiseling and purifying by fire will have to go into the process. - Elisabeth Elliot

Christian Quotes About Hope

If through a broken heart God can bring His purposes to pass in the world, then thank Him for breaking your heart. - Oswald Chambers

Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: You don't give up. - Anne Lamott

Hope is called the anchor of the soul ( Hebrews 6:19 ) because it gives stability to the Christian life. But hope is not simply a ‘wish’ (I wish that such-and-such would take place); rather, it is that which latches on to the certainty of the promises of the future that God has made. - R.C. Sproul

All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle. - Francis of Assisi

God is able to take the mess of our past and turn it into a message. He takes the trials and tests and turns them into a testimony . - Christine Caine

Christian Quotes About Life

Failure means nothing now, only that it taught me life. - Elizabeth Elliot

Equipping People for Spiritual Growth

What is the Christian Journey?

What is the Christian Journey?

The christian journey to a meaningful christian life.

It is often said that the Christian life is a journey, not a destination.

The journey to a meaningful Christian life involves a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, learning and growing in faith, and actively living out one’s beliefs.

The Christian journey is often a term used to describe the spiritual growth and development as we follow Jesus Christ and seek to live according to his teachings.

The Christian Journey is . . .

  • a journey of faith in God.
  • a process of coming to know ourselves honestly and our Creator intimately.
  • a journey of cultivating awareness, sensitivity, and response to God’s loving initiatives in our lives.
  • a pilgrimage of deepening our relationship with God and His love for us that brings us into maturity.
  • a process of receiving healing for emotional pain and harmful ways of thinking.
  • a dynamic process of growing toward wholeness emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
  • a process of being conformed to the image of Christ.
  • a spiritual journey where we continually confront twists, turns, and stages.
  • The process is a quest for intimate relationship with God Himself.

This process has been known through the ages by a variety of names including spiritual growth, discipleship, spiritual formation/transformation, and sanctification.

Here are some steps of the Christian journey process:

  • Accept Jesus as Lord and Savior . This is the foundation of a meaningful Christian life, as it involves making a commitment to follow Jesus and allowing Him to guide your life.
  • Study the Bible . Reading and studying the Bible will deepen your understanding of God’s character, teachings, and plans for your life.
  • Pray regularly . Talking to God in prayer helps to build a strong relationship with Him and allows Him to guide and direct your life.
  • Serve others. Living a meaningful Christian life involves serving others and showing love and compassion to those around you.
  • Christian community . Being part of a Christian community can provide support, encouragement, and opportunities to serve others.
  • Seek accountability and mentorship . Building relationships with mature Christians can offer guidance and support and can be incredibly helpful in growing.
  • Continuously grow and develop . A meaningful Christian life involves a lifetime of learning and growing in faith. So be open to new experiences, growth opportunities, and challenges that will help you to deepen your relationship with God.

The Christian journey also includes challenges and obstacles, but through prayer and reliance on God, individuals can overcome them and continue to grow in their faith.

It often involves changes in one’s lifestyle, values, and behavior, as well as a growing love for others and a desire to serve and make a positive impact in the world.

The ultimate goal of the Christian journey is to deepen one’s relationship with God. It involves becoming more like Jesus, so that we can live a life that brings glory to God and helps others.

The Christian journey is a lifelong process of growing in relationship with God and others. Each person’s journey is unique, yet similar.

What If I Get Stuck On The Christian Journey

However, getting “stuck” on the Christian journey is a common experience for many people.

There are various reasons why this might happen, such as feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges, facing temptations or sin, experiencing a crisis of faith, or simply feeling uninspired or disconnected from God.

If you find yourself in this situation, there are several steps you can take to get back on track:

  • Confess and repent . If you’ve sinned or strayed from God, confessing your mistakes and repenting can help to restore your relationship with Him.
  • Pray. Talking to God through prayer can help you to feel connected to Him and receive His guidance and comfort.
  • Seek support from other Christians. Join a small group or talk to a trusted friend or mentor. This can provide encouragement and help you to stay accountable.
  • Study the Bible. Spending time in God’s word can help to deepen your understanding of Him and renew your mind and spirit.
  • Serve others . Volunteering and serving others can help you to shift your focus from yourself to God and His kingdom.

Remember, the Christian journey is a lifelong process, and it’s okay to have ups and downs.

With God’s help and the support of other believers, you can overcome obstacles and continue growing in your faith.

The Christian Journey is a Quest For a Deeper Relationship With God

The Christian journey is ultimately a quest to find a deeper relationship with God.

As we grow in our faith, we seek to deepen our understanding how God speaks. We grow in our love for God and learn to experience His presence in our lives more deeply.

Learn How to Feel The Presence of God & Practice His Presence

This deeper relationship with God also leads to transformation of our character, and we become more like Jesus and adopt His attitudes and behaviors.

This transformation is a lifelong process!

As we grow in relationship with God, we become more attuned to His will and more equipped to fulfill our divine purpose in life.

Throughout he Christian journey we learn to experience the fullness of God’s love. We become more like Him, so that we can bring glory to God and make a positive impact in the world.

The Christian journey is a journey of faith, growth, and spiritual transformation that leads to a deeper, more meaningful, relevant, and intimate relationship with God.

Characteristics of Spiritual Growth on the Christian Journey

  • The Christian Journey is a process of learning and growing. It is a process of coming to know ourselves honestly and our Creator intimately.
  • It is a process of receiving healing for emotional pain and harmful ways of thinking.
  • We learn to hear God’s voice more clearly.
  • We learn to recognize and practice the presence of God.
  • It is a dynamic process of growing toward wholeness emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
  • Through this growth process, we grow into who God created us to be in His original design.
  • The process helps us to get to know ourselves honestly and Creator intimately.

25 LGBTQ+ Christian Quotes That Sustain Us

journey quotes christian

The American Civil Liberties Union is currently tracking more than 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills in the U.S. Many of these bills are written, supported, and justified by Christians. Even if most of these bills do not become law, it is dangerous when anyone, and especially people in power, deny the goodness of LGBTQ+ people. But Jesus offers a different way to discern a person’s goodness:

“[E]very good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will know them by their fruits . ” (Matthew 7:17-20).

Below are quotes from queer Christians who bear the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Drag queen Marge Erin Johnson is bringing joy and sparkle back to church; Bayard Rustin organized the 1963 March on Washington; Cole Arthur Riley, creator of Black Liturgies, reminds us to breathe, have patience, and remain faithful to our dignity.

In the podcast This Little Light of Mine , Bonnie Violet, a trans femme genderqueer digital chaplain, said, “Don’t pray for me not to be trans. Don’t pray for me not to be gay. Pray for me to get closer to God.” We cannot pray — or legislate — away queerness. Queer people of faith have always existed. We are here, existing now, and we will continue to exist well into the future.

Because of the ways in which many LGBT people have been taught to hate ourselves from an early age, pride is an important act of spiritual healing and witness that allows us to develop a healthy sense of ourselves, our communities, and those who we love. -Patrick Cheng, “ The Spiritual Significance of Pride ,   ”  H uffPost (2010)
I think young people are saying, “We got to do church differently.” Darling, never fear. The Holy Spirit is going to make sure we do church different. -Pamela Lightsey, “ When the Institutional Church Dies, What Comes Next? ,” sojo.net ( 2023)
The search for love and for truth is a bodily one. Bodies in love add many theological insights to the quest for God and truth. -Marcella Althaus-Reid, The Queer God (2003)
We must be patient, persevering, and tender with one another and ourselves. It will take years, decades, a long time, to learn, with one another, that our power to love is stronger than the fear that festers in our alienation. -Carter Heyward,  Touching Our Strength  (1989)
I’m not using my energy for useless fights. I’m using my energy to find peace. Let there be peace on earth. -Bishop Yvette Flunder,  American Baptist College  (2015)
Always and everywhere a certain percentage of men and women develop as homosexuals or lesbians. They should be considered as part of God's creative plan. Their sexual orientation has no necessary connection with sin, sickness or failure; rather, it is a gift from God to be accepted and lived out with gratitude. God does not despise anything that God has created. - John J. McNeill “ Homosexuality: Challenging the Church to Grow , ”   The Christian Century (1987)
When we feel the warmth of belonging and being in community — any community — I believe God is pleased. -Matthias Roberts, “ How to Find Healing From Religious Trauma , ”   Sojourners (2023)
When we get quiet, when we are alone, when we can clear away all of the noise and opinions and hate speech, we know that there is something we need to do in order to uncover who we are. When we get quiet and get in touch with our bodies, we know the truth of who we are, no matter what anyone else says. -Shannon T.L. Kearns “ My Trans Identity Was Forged In The Wilderness , ” sojo.net (2023)
Being trans doesn’t mean I spend all my time having solemn discussions about gender. Sometimes you just have to put the books down and go for a walk, rejoicing in the way your feet know exactly where to go; the way the wind feels in your hair; the way your eyes take in the tiny buds on the trees, all ready to blossom. -Austen Hartke, “ 6 Common Ways Christians Stereotype Transgender People , ” sojo.net (2018)
I think getting our hands dirty is connected to salvation. No, not the eternal life kind of salvation—I’m talking about our salvation from the oppression and hell of today that keeps a noose around all of our necks: things such as racism, unfettered capitalism, a lack of affordable housing, or food insecurities. -Roberto Che Espinoza,   “ ‘Like Thomas, I Don’t Always Believe’ , ” sojo.net (2020)
Let us be enraged about injustice, but let us not be destroyed by it. Bayard Rustin,  To the House of Representatives (1969 )
We are not bound to perpetual brokenness forever. We are human beings on a journey, and we have what it takes to solve our own problems. - Ashley Lynn Hengst,  “ You Are Not Broken ” (2023)
Love will lead us to the ways that we can show up and love others as we love ourselves. -Darren Calhoun “ LGBTQ+ Christians Can Build Bridges With Our Non-Affirming Family , ” sojo.net (2024)
Trans people have existed through their visibility since the beginning of creation. We cannot erase, ignore, or segregate anyone from this divine form of creation. Recognizing trans-visibility in the world is to recognize the presence of life in everyone, formed in inclusive love. -Rev. Carmarion D. Anderson-Harvey “ Celebrating Black History Month , ” Q Christian Fellowship (2024)
We are God’s beloved. You are so loved. And nothing, nothing, nothing in the world can change that. -Jeff Chu  “ The Theology of the Compost , ” Evolving Faith  (2020)
I want to be the queer elder I never had. And I want people to know that they’re loved and to give themselves permission to be ... who God created them to be. -Marge Erin Johnson, “ Like Drag Brunch? Try Drag Church ”  Sojourners  (2024)
Don’t pray for me not to be trans. Don’t pray for me not to be gay. Pray for me to get closer to God. -Bonnie Violet, “ Pray FOR , ”  This Little Light of Mine  (2021)
As I dance in the streets at my city’s Pride parade, I will embrace the scandal of it all and try to become more scandalous in my own expression of grace and faith. And in so doing, I will find myself inside the abundant, raucous pleasure of God, who is ever joining all our stories in promiscuous love. -Rev. Tonetta Landis-Aina “ Black, Butch, Queer — And Baptized Into God's Scandalous Love , ” sojo.net (2023)
It’s okay to distance yourself from spaces that demand a version of you that no longer is true. Belonging shouldn’t depend on an illusion. - Cole Arthur Riley,   @BlackLiturgies  (2023)
God is too large to be contained by human language, gender binaries, or even a single person’s experience. Even if we took the sum of every person’s experience and blanketed the cosmos with the truth of human existence from the beginning until now, it would only reveal a sliver of who God is. -Taj M. Smith   “ God Created Me To Be a Transgender Man , ” sojo.net (2023)
But for me, living fully and authentically was less about being fully out and more about being deeply human. It meant being God’s beloved creation. And embracing my queerness was a way to embrace the gift of humanity. -Mihee Kim-Kort “ Led Out In Joy, With Rainbow Cookies And Fresca , ” sojo.net (2023)
I am not lacking, nor am I an issue to debate. I do not need pity, nor am I sick or broken or afraid of love. I am a manifestation of Love’s complex divine revelation, making visible what would otherwise be erased in the billion refractions of rainbow light. -Jenna DeWitt, “ Asexual And Aromantic People Are Often Forgotten, But God Sees Us , ” sojo.net (2023)
This is what the church was always meant to look like: a place where those who mourn are comforted, where the poor in spirit are enriched, and where those seeking mercy can find grace. -Ryan Duncan “ No,   ‘Being Fruitful And Multiplying’ Won’t Save The Church , ” sojo.net (2023)
Dignity is the soul-knowledge that I am worthy of love and respect. -Rev. Jes Kast “ ’Tis The Season For Family Boundaries , ” sojo.net (2020)
Truly, if we are created in the image of God, we are made to transgress narrow definitions of “masculine” and “feminine” behavior. The God of scripture is neither male nor female, transcending human conceptions of gender altogether. -Rev. Benjamin Perry,   “ The Problem Is Sinful Masculinity, Not Effeminacy , ” sojo.net (2019)

Russell brand reflects on 'beautiful' first month as a christian: 'i'm so excited to learn more'.

Russell Brand appears in a recent TikTok.

In a candid update, comedian Russell Brand shared reflections on his "beautiful" first month as a Christian, describing it as a period of significant transformation and newfound clarity.

"I've been a Christian a month now, and it's been a big change," the 48-year-old actor said in a recent TikTok video. "Not that I've entirely changed as a person. Of course, I haven't, but I've taken on a lot of new concepts, and it changes you to accept that it's not like you're in a game show, and by doing really, really good things, you can get redeemed."

For Brand, he said the journey to Christianity has been about embracing the concept of repentance and acknowledging an internal struggle.

"Repentance, to repent, means that you have to continually change and acknowledge that 'I am in a battle against myself,' that I need to surrender myself to an ever-present, internal and accessible Jesus, that mercy is something that's given to me, been granted to me, that I live with through love, not something that I can sort of win or achieve by doing good deeds," he said.

@russellbrand One month as a Christian, and already… ? original sound - Russell Brand

The entertainer shared how his faith has brought "incredible" people and literature into his life, offering him a sense of peace and direction.

"When I'm in doubt, I feel that instruction is there, accessible. I feel like I know what I'm supposed to do, and when I don't do what I'm supposed to do, that's even clearer," he explained. "When I feel myself being selfish or inconsiderate or putting myself first or not thinking about how I can be better to other people, it's as if there is an inner illumination available to me now."

Brand expressed admiration for the simplicity and profundity of Christian doctrine, particularly the narrative of God coming to earth as a man and sacrificing Himself for humanity's redemption.

"I love the simplicity of the idea of God coming to earth as a man to experience what it is to be human and to sacrifice Himself because that's the only sacrifice that could bring us home, that could give us the opportunity for redemption," he said. "I like the idea, when I'm in prayer and in communion, just alone, that there is a figure available, wounded and coronated, available to me. In my failings and my failures and in my fallibility, there is strength."

Brand emphasized that this journey is only beginning. He conveyed a sense of excitement and eagerness to continue learning and growing in his faith.

"It's a beautiful journey to go on," he said. "I know I'm just at the beginning. I know I'm just learning. I know there's so much more to learn, and I'm so excited to learn more from you and for us to learn together."

Brand, baptized in April , has published a series of videos in recent months about his spiritual journey to the Christian faith.

"I know a lot of people are sort of cynical about the increasing interest in Christianity and the return to God, but to me, it's obvious," he said in a video last month. "As meaning deteriorates in the modern world, as our value systems and institutions crumble, all of us become increasingly aware that there is this eerily familiar awakening and beckoning figure that we've all known all of our lives, within us and around us. And for me, it's very exciting."

In December , he told followers he was reading the Bible and The Problem of Pain , a 1940 book by C.S. Lewis that explores the role of suffering in the Christian life.

In January, he revealed that he was reading Rick Warren's The Purpose-Driven Life and desired a "personal relationship with God." The comedian said he's found Jesus Christ increasingly important as he grows older, despite once seeing many churches as either too "old-fashioned" or too modernized.

During an interview with Tucker Carlson last year, Brand said, "Like many desperate people, I need spirituality. I need God, or I cannot cope in this world. I need to believe in the best in people."

Brand has been shrouded in controversy in recent years. He faces multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, including one report that claims he assaulted a 16-year-old girl after pulling her into an "emotionally and sexually abusive" relationship.

Brand has denied the "very serious criminal allegations" and maintained that while he was "very, very promiscuous" in the past, all of his sexual relationships were "always consensual."

In his latest TikTok, the "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" actor invited his audience to share their own spiritual journeys and reflections.

"Let me know where your journey's taking you. Can you remember your first month as a Christian, and let me know if since I've been talking about this publicly, it's made you think about Christianity differently. We're having lots of conversations about this stuff, and I'm so grateful to be having them with you. Stay free."
