Application for a Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa - TRV)

You need to give your biometrics.

In most cases, you now need to give your fingerprints and photo (biometrics) after you apply.

Find out who needs to give biometrics and how the new application process works.

Biometrics and the application process

Image that represents the different stages of the application process and biometrics.

We refer to your fingerprints and photo as biometrics. We collect biometrics for most applications. Find out what happens from when you submit your application to when you get to Canada and where biometrics fits in the process.

1. Apply for your visitor visa, study permit or work permit

If you want to visit, study or work in Canada, make sure you’re eligible to apply. Use our application guides to help fill out your application properly, then submit your application.

Avoid processing delays by sending us a complete application .

2. Get your fingerprints and photo taken

If you’re between 14 and 79 years old, you probably need to give your fingerprints and photo (biometrics). You only need to give your biometrics once every 10 years to make repeat trips to Canada easier.

  • You must pay the  biometrics fee   when you submit your application.  Otherwise you may experience delays.
  • Get this done  as soon as you get the letter  from us that tells you to give biometrics.
  • You have  30 days  to do this from the date on the letter.

Find out who needs to give , how to give , and  where to give your biometrics .

COVID-19: Biometrics deadline

Some biometrics collection sites are closed. If the site closest to you is closed, we’ll extend your deadline to give your biometrics. Find out how COVID-19 is affecting biometrics .

3. We process your application

After we get your biometrics, we start processing your application. See how long it takes to process your application.

If we need more information from you, we’ll contact you.

4. We make a decision on your application

When we finish reviewing your application, we let you know if you’re approved to come to Canada. If you are, we issue your documents.

If your application is refused, we send you a letter that tells you why.

5. You travel to Canada (if you’re approved)

Make sure you travel with the documents we gave you. This includes travel documents like a visitor visa, study or work permits or an eTA (electronically linked to your passport).

Airline staff and border service officers at ports of entry will ask to see your travel documents. If you don’t have them, you may not be able to board your flight to Canada.

Make sure children under 18 travel with the right documents .

6. We check your identity when you arrive in Canada

When you arrive, we check your identity to make sure that you are the same person who was approved to travel to Canada. We may use your biometrics to do this.

If we can’t verify your identity, you may be detained by a border services officer. These officers help protect the health and safety of Canadians.

If the officer determines that you’re not admissible to Canada, you won’t be allowed to enter Canada. If you came by air, you’ll have to take a return flight to where you came from.

7. You’re allowed to enter Canada

If you pass the identity check and meet the entry requirements , the border services officer stamps your passport and lets you know how long you can stay in Canada. You’re normally allowed to stay in Canada for up to six months.

Children under 18 must meet the same entry requirements as adults. The border services officer may ask minor children to show other documents depending on whether the child is travelling alone or with someone.

Basic entry requirements

You must meet some basic requirements to enter Canada. You must:

  • have a valid travel document, like a passport
  • be in good health
  • have no criminal or immigration-related convictions
  • convince an immigration officer that you have ties—such as a job, home, financial assets or family—that will take you back to your home country
  • convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit
  • The amount of money you will need depends on how long you will stay and if you will stay in a hotel, or with friends or relatives.

Some people are not admissible to Canada, which means they are not allowed to enter the country. You can be inadmissible for several reasons, including being involved in:

  • criminal activity
  • human rights violations
  • organized crime

You can also be inadmissible for security, health or financial reasons.

Find out more about inadmissibility .

  • Families applying at the same time : maximum total fee of CAD $170

Permanent residents of Canada

We do not issue temporary resident visas (TRV) to permanent residents (PR). If you are outside Canada without a valid PR card, you must apply for a permanent resident travel document (PRTD) instead. If you meet the requirements for a PRTD, you can return to Canada as a PR.

If you no longer want to be a PR, or if you know you do not meet the requirements to keep your PR status, you can voluntarily give up (renounce) your PR status to apply for a TRV.

Do you need a visa to visit Jordan?

Discover the delights of Jordan once you've secured your tourist visa © Anastasiia Shavshyna / Getty Images

Intrepid travelers come to Jordan to experience the ancient ruins of Petra , the wide open spaces of Wadi Rum , heart-pumping hikes , Arab hospitality, and (of course) the kunafeh .

Fortunately, Jordan makes entering a breeze for many visitors, offering a visa on arrival and the possibility of an extension (yes, they already suspect you won’t want to leave). Since visa requirements vary based on your country of citizenship, remember to triple-check everything in advance of your trip – changes to entry requirements are not uncommon.

We've got lots of insider tips and information about how to get a visa for Jordan so that you can start planning and packing for the trip of a lifetime .

Who can enter Jordan visa-free?

Passport holders from about ten countries – including those in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) – can enter Jordan visa-free for stays of up to three months within a six-month period. Citizens of Lebanon can enter Jordan visa-free with a national ID card, while citizens of Yemen, Syria and Libya are also permitted to visit visa-free if they hold a resident permit for at least six months from the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Switzerland, or a GCC or European Economic Area member state.

Who needs a visa to enter Jordan?

The majority of visitors from non-Arab countries will need a visa and a passport with six months’ validity to enter Jordan. Some travelers are required to obtain a visa at an embassy before leaving their country, but visitors from 115 countries can get a single-entry visa on arrival for JD40. Consult the list of approved countries to see to see which group you fall into. Rules can change, so call the Jordanian embassy or consulate in your country to confirm.

What is the Jordan Pass?

Travelers from more than 130 countries – including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia – can buy the Jordan Pass , which includes the cost of the visa to enter Jordan. If you’re a citizen of a non-Arab country and planning to visit Petra and stay in Jordan for at least three nights, check to see if you qualify. The pass can be purchased online before departure. After you purchase the Jordan Pass, you’ll receive an email with a QR code. Simply show this to the immigration officers on arrival to receive your visa on the spot.

The Jordan Pass also includes entry to Petra, Wadi Rum and around 40 additional attractions . Be sure to keep the QR code on your phone and a hard copy to hand while traveling to and around Jordan.

Where can I obtain a visa on arrival?

If you’re eligible for a visa on arrival, you can obtain it at most entry points, including Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba  and Sheikh Hussein Bridge near Irbid. If you enter and exit through Aqaba, the visa fee is waived thanks to the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority . If you exit through another border, you will be charged for the visa.

Visas are not given at the Wadi Araba Crossing near Aqaba (except for Jordan Pass holders and travelers who’ve made prior arrangements) or King Hussein/Allenby Bridge, even for those who are eligible for a visa on arrival. If you will be entering Jordan from Israel by land at these border crossings, you must obtain your visa in advance .

How can I get a multiple-entry visa for Jordan?

If you are interested in a multiple-entry visa, you must apply in advance at a Jordanian embassy or consulate outside of Jordan.

This requirement is changing, however – some visitors, including US citizens , can now purchase a multiple-entry visa for JD120 on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport. Consult the Jordanian embassy or consulate in your home country for the most up-to-date information.

Can I extend my visa to Jordan?

Getting a visa extension is possible for many travelers, but it’s not guaranteed. Typically, the visa is free and can be extended by one to three months. This process might move to an online format, but for the time being it’s still done in person, and you’ll have to pay a visit to the police station to request the extension before your visa expires. If you’ve overstayed your visa, you’ll need to pay a fee of JD1.5 per day before you can register for the extension.

While you may hear that visa extensions can be done at any police station, some are not set up for it, so it’s best to handle this in a larger city, such as Amman . Apply for the extension at the station nearest to your hotel or residence. Officials will ask for your address, and if you are not located within their district, they may send you elsewhere.

Do you need a visa for Jordan?

Group waling through the ancient ruins and caverns of Petra, Jordan on a sunny day

The short answer is maybe. Most nationalities will need to obtain a visa to enter Jordan except a few nationalities who are exempt (but more on that later). The process of getting a visa is relatively straightforward, and many nationalities are eligible for a visa on arrival including passport holders of the UK , Australia , New Zealand, China, Canada, the USA, and most European , North American and South American nations. Travellers from African, Asian and some Middle Eastern nations may not be eligible for a visa on arrival and will need to apply for a visa directly with the Jordanian Embassy in their home country prior to departure. For more information on visa eligibility and requirements for your nationality, visit your government's website for up-to-date advice.

The following nationalities do not need a visa to enter Jordan. The duration of stay differs depending on where you are from but it generally permits you to stay for up to three months.

Saudi Arabia

United Arab Emirates

Getting a visa on arrival may differ slightly depending on whether you're entering via an airport or land border.

1 . Single-entry visa on arrival

If you're eligible for a visa on arrival and you'll be visiting Jordan for up to one month, you can get a single-entry visa upon arrival at an airport and the Jordan/Israel land border. If you're travelling into Jordan via the Wadi Araba border, Allenby/King Hussein Bridge border or any other land border, you may need to pre-arrange a visa as these borders don't provide visas on arrival. A single-entry visa on arrival costs JOD 40, which is around USD 56.

2. Double-entry visa

A double-entry visa is valid for three months with a period of stay not to exceed 30 days per entry. You can't apply for a double-entry visa on arrival, so you will have to apply in advance with your local Jordanian embassy. A multiple-entry visa costs JOD 60 (approximately USD 80).

3. Multiple-entry visa

A multiple-entry visa is valid for six months with a duration of stay not to exceed 30 days per entry. You can't get a multiple-entry visa on arrival, so you'll need to arrange it in advance with the Jordanian embassy in your country. A multiple-entry visa costs JOD 120 (around USD 170).

You will need to ensure your passport is valid for at least six months prior to entering Jordan. You may also need a copy of your return ticket, travel itinerary and your hotel reservation.

Make sure you research the visa requirements as soon as you have booked your trip and give yourself enough time to gather any necessary documents. If you have any questions or concerns, check with the relevant embassy, consulate in your home country or your travel agent.

Jordan visa policy.

The visa policy of Jordan outlines the entry requirements for travelers visiting the Hashemite Kingdom. While the majority of international visitors are need to have a current passport that is at least two blank pages long and has a minimum validity of six months beyond their planned stay, the requirement for a visa varies by nationality.

No foreign nationals entering Jordan are currently subject to a visa prohibition. The standard conditions for visas do, however, include a few exceptions. For instance, while arriving at Aqaba Airport on a direct flight from Brussels, people of Lebanon and the majority of European Union nations (with the exception of Croatia) may do so by showing a valid national ID card. All international visitors must also possess a non-refundable return airline ticket, with the exception of government employees who are traveling to Iraq.

Depending on their nationality, citizens of around 10 countries are permitted to enter Jordan without a visa for durations ranging from one to three months. All GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) members' nationals are included in this.

All other foreign nationals must have a valid visa in order to enter Jordan. Both a visa on arrival and a pre-application at a Jordanian embassy or consulate are options for obtaining this. By registering for the Jordan Pass, which grants access to more than 40 well-liked tourist destinations, including the famed ancient city of Petra, travelers may also get a free Jordan visa online. The Jordan Pass, which is available at the airport or via a diplomatic post, covers the cost of the visa.

Although Jordan does not have an official electronic visa program, visitors may still apply online for the Jordan Pass, sometimes known as an electronic visa in Jordan. It's crucial to remember that visa holders still have to pick up their actual visas when they arrive.

The majority of countries who qualify for the Jordan Pass may get a free visa when they arrive. Those who are ineligible for visa on arrival may use the QR code on their Jordan Pass to submit a free application for an embassy visa.

Jordan eVisa

For visitors from up to 140 different countries, the Jordan eVisa provides a quick and easy method to enter the Hashemite Kingdom. The Jordan Pass is an online travel package that provides perks for getting an electronic visa that may be used to get this one. If a visitor intends to remain for at least 3 nights (4 days), they may avoid paying the visa charge by applying for the Jordan Pass. The Jordan Pass also includes admission to more than 40 Jordanian sites, museums, and castles.

The Jordan Pass is authorized and is good for a year from the time it is issued. It permits a single-entry, 30-day stay in the nation. Travelers may prolong their stay by paying an extra charge at any Jordanian police station once they arrive.

Filling out an online application form is all that is required to apply for the Jordan eVisa, and it just takes a few minutes to do. After paying the required cost, applicants are sent an email with a PDF and a QR code containing their authorized Jordan Pass.

Travelers must show the QR code from their Jordan Pass to acquire the eVisa at the border or before leaving. Depending on the traveler's nationality, the QR code may be shown at border control to get the visa upon arrival or at an embassy.

The Jordan Pass application procedure allows for the free visa to be obtained on arrival or at an embassy, despite the fact that there is no possibility to apply for the Jordan eVisa online.

It is advised that visitors make a duplicate of their Jordan Pass and show it to immigration officials and representatives at tourist attractions in case there are any problems reading the QR code, in order to guarantee a seamless admission into the nation.

Basic entry requirements

To visit Canada, you will need to meet some basic requirements, such as:

  • have a valid travel document, such as a passport,
  • be in good health,
  • have no criminal or immigration-related convictions,
  • convince an immigration officer that you have ties—such as a job, home, financial assets or family—that will take you back to your home country,
  • convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit, and
  • have enough money for your stay. (The amount of money you will need can vary. It depends on things such as how long you will stay, and whether you will stay in a hotel, or with friends or relatives.)

Inadmissibility

Some people are inadmissible—they are not allowed to come to Canada. Several things can make you inadmissible, including involvement in criminal activity, in human rights violations or in organized crime.

You can also be inadmissible for security, health or financial reasons. Find out more about inadmissibility .

How long you can stay

Most visitors can stay for up to 6 months in Canada.

At the port of entry, the border services officer may allow you to stay for less or more than 6 months. If so, they’ll put the date you need to leave by in your passport. They might also give you a document, called a visitor record, which will show the date you need to leave by.

If you don’t get a stamp in your passport, you can stay for 6 months from the day you entered Canada or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. If you need a stamp, you can ask a border services officer for one. If you arrive at an airport that uses primary inspection kiosks , ask the border officer after you finish at the kiosk.

Standard Tourist Visa for Bali Indonesia

To get rid of some confusion right from the start.

This Visit Visa is also known as Visa on Arrival or VoA. However, the name is misleading because it can be purchased already online BEFORE your arrival (advisable). The term was used, before online purchase was available. To get the visa upon arrival is also still possible if you missed getting it online before you arrive.  The official Visa Code is B1, B2, B3 and B4.

The 30days Visit Visa is available for 90+ nationalities.

Prices. how to apply, and all you must know about the Visa on Arrival in our FAQ section below

Application – Price – Validity – Must Know

Visit visa for bali, indonesia (also known as visa on arrival, voa & e-voa), faq visit visa / visa on arrival, both, the visit visa is also called visa on arrival (or voa). .

Since Indonesia implemented an option to get the Visa online, it is (was) also called e-VoA.

90+ nationalities can now get a 30days Visit Visa.

When applying online you must select the type of "Visa on Arrival" based on your travel purpose:

Most travelers to Bali who can get a Visit Visa will have to apply for the B1.

B1 - Tourist Purpose

  • Conducting activities related to tourism, and visiting friends or family.
  • Participate in meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions as an attendee.
  • Traveling in Indonesia on a yacht (yachter).

B2 - Business Purpose

  • Carry out activities related to business, meetings, or purchase of goods including but not limited to checking goods at the office, factory, or production site of goods.
  • Discuss, negotiate, and/or sign business contracts.

B3 - Medical Vist

  • conducting activities related to medical treatment.

B4 - Government related

  • Conducting activities related to Government Business.

This is how you can apply for the Indonesia Tourist Visa / Visa on Arrival:

1. electronic visa on arrival (e-voa - b1, b2, b3, b4).

You can apply and purchase the Visa already online and avoid queuing at VoA counters at the airport which will save you time and is much more convenient.

You can apply for e-VOA 14 days before your travel. However, you are advised to create an e-VOA request at least 48 hours before your departure, otherwise you might not receive it in time. The Visa is not issued instantly!

Make sure you check your Spamfolder when you expect to receive emails. ONLY follow the official link below and get your Visa from the immigration website. There are plenty of scammers out there.

2. At the Airport / Harbour upon arrival in Indonesia

If you do not purchase the e-VoA before you arrive in Indonesia online, you can still purchase the Visa at the VoA counters at international airports in the arrival halls (or at harbours, if you arrive by boat or cruise ship). Expect long queues at times.

The documents needed for your Visa applications are:

When you purchase upon arrival at the airport or harbour.

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months on date of arrival (no exceptions!)
  • Return ticket (or outbound of Indonesia)
  • Cash or Credit Card

When you purchase the Visa online BEFORE arrival:

a. Full biodata page of passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of your arrival to Indonesia; b. Passport size photograph; c. Email address; d. A valid Mastercard, Visa, or JCB credit card. e. Residence information in Bali / Indonesia (hotel etc) f. Return or outbound Ticket

Yes, you do need a return ticket, that matches the validity of your Visa.

It can happen that they might not ask to show the return ticket.

It might also happen, that the immigration officers will ask you. And if you don't have a return ticket, they will make you purchase one right and won't let you enter Indonesia with out a return ticket (or a ticket that takes you outside of Indonesia).

YES - regardless of their age. Also infants.

The Visit Visa (VoA) is valid for 30 days initially.

The Visa can be extended ONLY ONCE for another 30 days.

So after 60 days you MUST leave the country. You can not apply for another Visa while you are in Indonesia..

Note: Day of arrival and day of departure count as FULL days each.

There are two ways to extend the Visa on Arrival:

1. ONLINE: If you purchased the Visa ONLINE , you can also extend the visa ONLINE but on the immigration website where you got the visa in the first place ( Imigrasi ). For that you need the login to the account that you created when you applied for the Visa.

2. OFFLINE: If you purchased the Visa in person upon arrival and not pnline you need to apply for a 30days extension i n person at an immigration office . We strongly suggest you work with a Visa Agent to get this done.

Details of the Process, Visa Agent Application and agent price for extension

If you got the Visa online but somehow don't manage to get an extension online (technical issues), then you can also get an extension offline of course.

The cost is IDR 500,000 (ca. USD 35 / AUD 50) per person

  • Online Purchase (e-VoA) per credit card on the (extra fees might apply) OFFICIAL immigration website
  • Purchase at the airport arrival hall (or harbour) and pay at the VoA counter in cash (EUR, GBP, AUD, USD, SGD, IDR) or by credit card (no AMEX)

Visas are based on your PASSPORT & NATIONALITY. Residency permits of other countries are NOT considered.

If you don't have a passport but a Titre de Voyage, Refugee Travel Document or similar travel documents, you would need to apply for a B211A Visa. Information and Application

Unfortunately there is nothing we can do.

The entire online application service for the Visa on Arrival for Bali is handled 100% by the immigration department. If you run into problems, this is what they said on their website:

"Kindly inform the e-VOA Support Desk (livechat at www.imigrasi.go.id or sending email to [email protected] or [email protected]) should you encounter any suspended or unsuccessful transactions during the request procedure."

Sometimes confirmation emails land in your spam folder, that's the first thing you should check.

Their website seems to be changing rather frequently, and sometimes some features seem to not work on all browsers equally well. What we noticed is, that if you tried to extend a visa and the process failed, it seems you have to then wait one more day to see the extension option again.

Worse case, if the application fails, you can still get the Visa upon arrival in the arrival hall of the airport (Visa on Arrival).

No , you cannot enter multiple times into Indonesia with this Visa.

The visa on arrival is only a single entry visa. if you leave indonesia and want to come back, you need to apply for a new visit visa..

Officials have now installed new digital Entry Gates to get through the immigration in Bali. There are still counters with Immigration Officers in the arrival hall. But with your e-Visa you can get through the immigration using the electronic gates (if they are working and the officials will not guide you towards the counters with immigration officers.

At the electronic gates, you will scan your passport and once you are through you will receive per email an e-KTE, your Visa Stay Permit. It's a PDF that acknowledges your arrival.

Because you will not get a stamp in your passport anymore if you use the e-Gate the system will register your arrival electronically.

If you purchased your Visa upon Arrival (not online) you will can not use the electronic gates and must go to a counter with an immigration officer.

YOU CANNOT GET ANOTHER VISA AFTER YOU HAVE EXTENDED the visa on arrival ONCE (max. 60 days in total), while you are in Indonesia. You would have to leave the country and come pack.

If you want to stay longer than 60 days, you have to get a B211A OFFSHORE Visit Visa (60days) before your arrival first, which is valid for 60 days and which can be extended twice, each extension is valid for another 60 days (total max. 180 days, before you have to leave the country).

B211A Visa Application Service

If you overstay your visa, you have  to pay a fine of IDR 1,000,000 per day. If you overstayed substantially you might be detained, deported, or banned from coming back to Indonesia for a specific period.

There are several travel regulations you must be aware of which you can find here: Bali Entry Regulations

Note: If you intend to rent a scooter or motorbike you will need to bring your local driving license AND and international driving license. The traffic police has made several statements lately that they will control more often and will issue fines.

If you don't have an international license you can get one here: International Driving License accepted by the Indonesian authorities
