But it won't be the first time the Cambridges see the film. In April 2022, star Tom Cruise apparently hosted a special screening at an IMAX cinema near London’s Leicester Square for Prince William, Kate Middleton, Sophie Wessex, Princess Eugenie, and Princess Beatrice.

The Cambridges are no strangers to red carpet events. Prince William has been the president of the BAFTAs since 2010, a role he took over from his grandfather Prince Philip, and in that capacity, he has attended numerous film premieres over the years. Most recently, the Cambridges attended the world premiere of No Time to Die , the newest James Bond movie and the last starring Daniel Craig, in September 2021.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the premiere looking quite chic. Kate wore an outfit by Roland Mouret.

Prince William and Kate Middleton attended a "Top Gun: Maverick" screening this week, and interacted with the film's leading star while there.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the event in London, England, on Thursday, and were joined on the red carpet by Tom Cruise.

The trio headed up a small set of stairs at one point during the event, which could have been difficult for Middleton as she was wearing a form-fitting Roland Mouret dress and pointed-pump heels.

That's when Cruise stepped in and held the royal's hand for support, as seen in photos taken on the red carpet.

The British royals and Cruise appeared to have a conversation during their walk, but it was Middleton who stole the show at the event.

She stood out on the red carpet thanks to her gown — which was black with a white, off-the-shoulder neckline — as well as her accessories.

The duchess wore star-shaped earrings, a black clutch, and her family-heirloom wedding ring . Middleton also donned neutral makeup and her hair in a sleek yet wavy style.

After making it to the top of the event steps, the duke and duchess greeted other stars from the movie. Still, they stayed near Cruise and continued chatting with him.

Cruise and Prince William matched in traditional tuxedos and black bow ties. The prince's shoes, however, were a little more fun.

He wore loafers designed by Crockett & Jones that were embroidered with F-18 planes in honor of the movie.

Middleton and Cruise seemingly enjoyed their time together, with some photos taken at the event showing them sharing a laugh as Prince William talks to other attendees.

Kate Middleton and Prince William Hit the Red Carpet with Tom Cruise at 'Top Gun: Maverick' Premiere

The premiere isn't the first time the royal couple has seen the sequel to the 1986 hit!

Kate Middleton and Prince William feel the need, the need for speed!

The royal couple hit the red carpet for the U.K. premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in London's Leicester Square on Thursday evening alongside the film's star, Tom Cruise . Kate wore a black floor-length Roland Mouret gown with a white off-the-shoulder neckline shown off by her hair loose but worn tucked behind her ears , which also highlighted her statement earrings.

Meanwhile, Prince William went with a classic black tuxedo and bow tie — but had some fun with the theme of the night via his shoes. He sported Crockett & Jones loafers embroidered with F18 planes!

William, who was a Royal Air Force helicopter pilot himself, and Kate were also introduced to other cast members, like Jennifer Connelly Miles Teller, who plays the son of Cruise's comrade Goose from the original movie.

At one point in the night, Cruise offered his hand to Kate as she climbed a few stairs.

The London premiere won't be the first time Prince William , 39, and Kate, 40, have seen the highly anticipated film. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were reportedly treated to a special screening of the Top Gun sequel at the invitation of Cruise, who had heard William was a fan of the original 1986 movie.

"We have a lot in common," Cruise said of the royal at the premiere, according to My London . "We both love England and we're both aviators, we both love flying."

The premiere was hosted by Paramount Pictures and The Film and TV Charity and will be the 72nd Royal Film Performance put on by the charity in its almost 100-year history. The charity supports hundreds of thousands of people working behind the scenes in Britain's film and television industry and was called upon, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic when many technicians and skilled craftspeople lost their livelihoods.

For Cruise, 59, it won't be his only royal encounter of the week. On Sunday, the actor co-hosted a star-studded televised event celebrating Queen Elizabeth 's 70-year reign at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. The monarch, 96, made a rare outing for the performance of "A Gallop Through History," appearing delighted as she watched acting and musical performances as well as horse displays.

Cruise previously met the late Prince Philip in 2017 during a dinner marking the 75th Anniversary of The Outward Bound Trust at Buckingham Palace.

And he mingled with the late Princess Diana along with his ex-wife and actress Nicole Kidman in 1992 at the Leicester Square Empire Cinema during the premiere of the romantic drama film Far and Away . Cruise also attended the funeral of Princess Diana in 1997 alongside Kidman.

Prince William , as president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, and Kate are no strangers to movie premieres. In September, Kate glittered in a gold Jenny Packham gown with a dramatic cape for the red carpet premiere of the latest James Bond movie, No Time to Die .

Kate Middleton and Prince William dressed to impress as they attended the glitzy Top Gun: Maverick premiere in London overnight.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge beamed as they brushed shoulders with Hollywood, having already attended a private screening of the film earlier this year.

William and Kate arrived to cheers from onlookers and the flashes of cameras at the event in London’s Leicester Square on Thursday evening.

And movie star Cruise broke from usual protocol advising members of the public not to touch the royal family, offering Kate a helping hand as she walked the red carpet in her dress and heels.

Kate dazzled in an off-the-shoulder Roland Mouret column gown, with an Alexander McQueen clutch and Robinson Pelham diamond star earrings.

Meanwhile William was decked out in a midnight blue Alexander McQueen velvet dinner jacket and tuxedo trousers.

He also wore Crocket & Jones loafers with “F-18” on them in a nod to the fighter jet flown by Cruise’s character in the film.

The fundraising bash was held in aid of The Film and TV Charity, supporting people working behind the scenes in the UK’s screen sector.

It also marked the first time in 36 years Tom Cruise has slipped out of his shirt and into his aviators as test pilot Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell.

Cruise pulled out all the stops to set up a private screening for Wills and Kate back in March – having heard trained RAF helicopter pilot Wills, 39, was a fan of the original.

He gave them a world-first ­preview of the sequel, along with Sophie Wessex, 57, Princesses Eugenie, 32, and Princess Beatrice, 33, at one of the country’s biggest IMAX screens.

Maverick , which has so far received rave reviews from critics , sees Hollywood star Cruise reprise the role of US naval aviator Pete Mitchell and is being released 36 years after the 1986 original.

It was originally due for release in July 2019 but was repeatedly pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Tom Cruise made a dramatic entrance at the US premiere of the film, landing a helicopter on an aircraft carrier in San Diego, California.

And on Sunday, he joined the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, in which he introduced the King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery.

The actor said: “(The Queen) is a woman that I greatly admire, what she has accomplished has been historic.

“She has met presidents, world leaders, people from all walks of life.

“I just remember always as a kid seeing photos of her. I came to England, started making movies here in 1982, started producing here because I liked the crews. I loved the history.

“I have great respect for her, so when they asked (whether he would attend the platinum celebrations) I said yes immediately.”

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise were married for nearly six years before they called it quits.

Has anyone ever been more in love than couch-jumping Tom Cruise and  Katie Holmes ? We'll wait. Beginning in 2005, the actress and  fashion icon  (not just anyone can  pull off socks over sweatpants , alright?) engaged in a whirlwind romance with PDA-filled red carpet appearances that solidified their public image as TomKat. Within a year of meeting, they were engaged and welcomed a child together. A few months later, they tied the knot (Holmes's first marriage and Cruise's third). While many believed that the union wouldn't last — and it ultimately didn't — the pair still went on to share nearly six years together as husband and wife.

Since their 2012 divorce, we're remembering the Hollywood couple that once gave every teenager a glimmer of hope that it was possible — although highly unlikely — that maybe, just maybe, the dream of marrying their celebrity crush could become a reality.

Here's a look back at Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's relationship.

April 2005: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes first meet and are spotted together

As the story goes, after Cruise divorced  Nicole Kidman  and subsequently  split from then-girlfriend Penelope Cruz , the  Mission: Impossible  actor's beloved Church of Scientology set out to find him a worthy (and malleable) wife. After reportedly courting (and ultimately scaring off) famous women like  Sofía Vergara  and  Scarlett Johansson , the task proved more difficult than expected.

Eventually, church officials' prayers were answered through a  Seventeen  article,  per HuffPost . In October 2004, Holmes (then  engaged to Chris Klein ) told the teen magazine, "I used to think that I was going to marry Tom Cruise." 

Six months later, Klein and Holmes announced their breakup, and on April 27, 2005, Cruise and Holmes were first spotted together in Rome. TomKat made their red carpet debut as a couple two days later on April 29 at the David di Donatello Awards. Coincidence? We may never truly know.

"When I met Tom, I was completely in love, and, yes, I admired him growing up — he's Tom Cruise!" she reportedly told  T: The New York Times Style Magazine  ( via  People ).

May 23, 2005: Tom Cruise declares his love for Katie Holmes on The Oprah Winfrey Show

Cruise jolted daytime television when he appeared on  The Oprah Winfrey Show  and ecstatically jumped on her couch while professing love for his new girlfriend (who he subsequently brought out from backstage). The appearance went viral, with many questioning Cruise's sanity, as well as the relationship's authenticity.

June 16, 2005: Tom Cruise announces engagement to Katie Holmes

Shortly after going public with their relationship, Cruise announced at a press conference for  War of the Worlds  that he and Holmes were engaged. According to  The Hollywood Reporter , Cruise, then 43, proposed to Holmes, then 26, with a five-carat yellow diamond ring at a restaurant atop the Eiffel Tower.

"Today is a magnificent day for me; I'm engaged to a magnificent woman," he said, per  People . 

April 18, 2006: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes welcome their first child together

Holmes gave birth to a baby girl, Suri, in Santa Monica, California, in April 2006. Their newborn daughter made her public debut on the October 2006 cover of  Vanity Fair. 

The  Dawson's Creek  alum  told the magazine , " The moment the doctor handed me Suri, I was just ready. The feeling is indescribable. All I can say is the moment I looked in her eyes, I felt like ... Mom." 

Since then, the celeb offspring and fashionista has inspired one of our favorite pop culture artifacts of all time:  Suri's Burn Book . 

November 18, 2006: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes get married

In November 2006, the  Batman Begins  actress's schoolgirl fantasy of marrying Cruise came true. Their wedding was marked by an extravagant ceremony and reception at an Italian castle that cost more than $3 million, according to E! Online .

The star-studded guest list included couples  Jennifer Lopez  and Marc Anthony, John Travolta and the late Kelly Preston, and  David Beckham  and  Victoria Beckham , among others. As for the bridal party, Holmes had her sister Nancy Blaylock as maid of honor, while Cruise chose Scientology leader David Miscavige as his best man.

June 2012: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes divorce

Interestingly, after Cruise gave a  Playboy  interview in which he praised Holmes, she filed for divorce. Although the  Top Gun  star admitted that he "didn't expect" the divorce —  per CBS News  — the legal proceedings ran smoothly, and a settlement was reached in just 11 days.

Cruise and Holmes have rarely spoken on the record in regard to their split, but it's rumored that Holmes's motivation was to free her daughter from the unique constraints of Scientology. During his deposition against Bauer Media Cruise (whose tabloids claimed he'd abandoned Suri), Cruise was asked if Holmes left him "in part to protect Suri from Scientology." 

Insulted, he said, "There is no need to protect my daughter from my religion." 

However,  according to ABC News , when prodded again, specifically as to whether Holmes had mentioned that she was leaving in an effort to protect Suri from Scientology, Cruise responded, "Did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes."

Holmes was granted primary custody of Suri in their divorce. Though Cruise was afforded ample visitation, it was widely reported that he rarely saw his daughter. In 2016,  InTouch Weekly  asserted  that the actor hadn't seen or spoken to his youngest child in over 1,000 days (or two-and-a-half years).

Somehow, Kate Middleton consistently makes being a royal look like one of the funnest jobs in the world. Whereas Queen Elizabeth II, for one, tends to look rather stoic while carrying out her duties, the Duchess can often be found grinning from ear to ear . For the most part, though, Middleton—who wore a black-and-white off-the-shoulder gown by Roland Mouret for her night out on the town—seems to have spent the bulk of her time with Cruise. Unlike William, he even held her hand when they headed up the stairs into the theater.

This isn’t the first time Middleton has hobnobbed with celebrities at a Hollywood premiere. She and William memorably made a fully surprise appearance at the London screening of No Time to Die last fall, and thankfully, the moment she met Billie Eilish was captured on film. The image is delightful; in an alternate universe, they could have been the prom queen and begrudgingly dressed-up alt girl. If she keeps it up, who knows who the Duchess will be photographed with next?

The couple first sparked dating speculation after they were seen on a trip to Europe together in 2005. Following a whirlwind romance, Cruise and Holmes got engaged later that year before welcoming their daughter in 2006. During their courtship, the Abandon star confirmed that she was going to convert to Scientology. "You know, it's really exciting," Holmes told W Magazine in 2005 about the controversial religion. "I just started auditing and I'm taking some courses and I really like it. I feel like it's really helping." The Dawson's Creek alum exchanged vows with the Top Gun: Maverick star in 2006, shortly after they expanded their family. Cruise and Holmes shocked fans when they announced their separation in June 2012 after five years of marriage. At the time, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that the Batman Begins actress was "very happy" that she could "move on and finally live her life." When people think of the 2000s, obviously, a lot comes to mind. Looking past the questionable fashion choices and our obsession with everything pink, everyone was really obsessed with the “It” couples of the decade: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck , Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling, and, perhaps most of all, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise (AKA TomKat), who married 16 years ago on November 18, 2006.

Let’s face it; whether you loved them or hated them, everyone was paying attention. Their whirlwind romance started in 2005, and within two months, they were ready to tie the knot . Then came love, marriage, and a baby carriage — just not in that order. Soon after they announced their engagement, they also announced they were expecting their daughter Suri Cruise .

They seemed like a simple, happy family, from their Italian fairytale wedding to their many smiling red-carpet appearances. But some people got a weird vibe, especially after Cruise’s Scientology activities went viral, and some worried Holmes was trapped in the marriage.

Then, after nearly six years of marriage, Holmes filed for divorce in 2012 — and everyone had so many questions. What was 2000s royalty became another celebrity divorce that broke our hearts.

Fans Are Seriously Divided Over Tom Cruise Touching Kate Middleton At A Movie Premiere

Tom Cruise is busy winning 2022. The iconic actor was honored at this year's Cannes Film Festival for his expansive movie career and received the illustrious Palme d'Or award, according to The Hollywood Reporter . This celebration coincided with the release of his highly anticipated film, "Top Gun: Maverick."

Cruise has been active since the 1980s, and cemented his status as Hollywood royalty with classic films such as "Rain Man" and "Jack Reacher." After a groundbreaking 40 years in film, Cruise has transformed into Hollywood's leading man by making smart career choices. Per  Forbes , the "Mission Impossible" franchise has grossed over $3.5 billion, and Cruise's impressive box office pull contributes to his $600 million net worth .

The actor's reach, then surely, can't be underestimated. On May 15, for instance, Cruise participated in Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebration . Though his appearance and hosting duties angered fans, Cruise confessed his longtime admiration of the queen, according to the  Independent . 

But that wasn't the star's last interaction with the royal family. Per People , he crossed paths with Prince William and Kate Middleton at the "Top Gun: Maverick" premiere in London. Once again, he caused some controversy. 

Royal fans had mixed feelings over Tom Cruise's gesture

When celebrities meet the royal family, it's easy to remember that the world's biggest movie stars aren't immune to being starstruck or committing faux pas. Marie Claire outlined the strict protocols that they must follow when rubbing shoulders with the royals, which includes no physical contact unless initiated by them first. 

Tom Cruise's moment with Kate Middleton on the red carpet of the "Top Gun: Maverick" premiere had people talking for many reasons — their stark height difference seeming nonexistent being one of them . Aside from the apparent camera tricks (and Cruise's heeled shoes), another incident between Cruise and Kate left fans torn.

Per Page Six , the "Mission: Impossible – Fallout" actor lent the Duchess of Cambridge a hand as they climbed the steps at Leicester Square, with Prince William looking on. Cruise's good deed drew both praise and criticism online. 

In one tweet , a user called the actor a "creep" for the gesture, and while the  Daily Mail pointed out that he was being helpful, Cruise did broke royal protocols. But some people saw the moment as completely harmless. Back on Twitter, another user argued that the Duke of Cambridge didn't offer his wife help before criticizing the royal protocols in general, writing , "Prince William made no effort to help Kate up the stairs. The 'royals' are humans, not better than anyone, and need to stop with the ancient protocols. No human should bow down to another human in 2022."

Kate had a subtle reaction to the infamous moment

While Kate Middleton hasn't commented on the interaction, fans are convinced that she wasn't pleased based on her body language. Per Newsweek , a video surfaced revealing what happened seconds after Kate and Tom Cruise climbed the steps. Once the "Top Gun: Maverick" star let go of her hand, Kate immediately switched her purse to the hand closest to him. Photos from the event confirm the hand swap.

It's entirely possible that this was purely innocent and subconscious, but not everyone is convinced. Sky News Australia contributor Dr. Erin Watson turned to Twitter to voice her observations of the move. In one tweet , she speculated that Kate used her clutch to stop unwanted physical contact, writing, "Kate Middleton then immediately switched her clutch so he didn't touch her again as she went up the next set of stairs like a total #bossroyal who wasn't going to be touched by Tom Cruise." 

In another tweet , Watson compared Kate's reaction to the universal experience that women share when it comes to non-consensual touching, writing, "Kate Middleton is all of us strategically shifting our clutch because someone thinks they can touch you but #nope."

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' daughter seemingly reveals plans to attend Carnegie Mellon University

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Suri Cruise seemingly revealed her plans to attend Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in a post on the social media platform TikTok.

The 18-year-old is the daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. She is a graduating senior at New York City's LaGuardia High School, according to PageSix . 

In a TikTok titled "LaG commitment day," posted by maiajwong  on May 20, Suri Cruise is seen wearing a Carnegie Mellon sweatshirt. The video features many of her classmates celebrating where they will be attending college in the fall. Another student in the video is seen holding a Temple University bag. The university is in Philadelphia. 

It is not clear what major Suri Cruise will be studying at Carnegie Mellon. KDKA-TV reached out to the university for comment on Friday but has not heard back. 

Holmes and Tom Cruise welcomed Suri Cruise in April 2006. Holmes and Tom Cruise divorced in 2012 after five years of marriage. 

Carnegie Mellon has a long list of distinguished alumni, including six who were nominated for Tony Awards . Famous alumni include Leslie Odom Jr., Patrick Wilson, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Ted Danson, Judith Light, Holly Hunter ,  and Pittsburgh's own Joe Manganiello, Zachary Quinto and Billy Porter.   

Pittsburgh's own Ming-Na Wen also graduated from CMU. She recently won The Timeless Beauty Award during the 2024 Hollywood Beauty Awards.

When Tom Cruise was filming "Jack Reacher" in Pittsburgh in 2011, he, Holmes and Suri Cruise  were spotted at Soergel Orchards .

A Complete Timeline Of Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes's Relationship

TomKat happened quickly. In spring 2005, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were about to begin dating one another in a highly publicized romance, surprising fans and the media. But even more surprising was the speed at which their romance progressed. Within weeks of meeting, the two became engaged. Within less than a year, they were expecting a baby. Suri Cruise was born in 2006.

Scandals related to Cruise's erratic behavior plagued the union, and rumors swirled that Scientology was behind the pairing. Many also believed the relationship was a publicity stunt - both Cruise and Holmes had movies coming out during the beginning of their romance, the height of their very public courtship.

Although Cruise was venerated in 2005 for his successful movies , his career has since taken a downhill turn. Exposés about Scientology have discredited the church and its followers, and Cruise's odd behavior makes him an eccentric figure in the minds of many. October 2004: In An Interview, While Engaged To Chris Klein, Holmes Said She Always Wanted To Marry Tom Cruise

While Katie Holmes was still engaged to actor Chris Klein, she told Seventeen magazine, "I think every little girl dreams about her wedding. I used to think I was going to marry Tom [Cruise]."

Just two months later she broke off her engagement with Klein. The pair had begun dating as teenagers , and they said the split was as amicable as could be.

April 2005: Cruise Asks To Meet With Holmes

After Holmes told Seventeen magazine she dreamed as a child of marrying Tom Cruise, the actor contacted Holmes's manager and asked to meet with her. The meeting happened under the pretense that the creators of Mission: Impossible  were considering Holmes for a role.

Holmes said of first seeing Cruise, "I knew in an instant that we were going to be together, that we were going to get married."

April 2005: Cruise And Holmes Go On A Series Of Dates

After a four-hour meeting with Cruise, Holmes and Cruise went on a series of dates . A simple dinner date with Cruise was no ordinary event: the pair ate in his private jet. Their next date was on the back of Cruise's motorcycle on a ride to the beach.

Holmes was enamored: "Here I was in Los Angeles [on] my first motorcycle ride to the beach. It was all so amazing and fast. I was in love from the moment I shook his hand for the first time."

April 27, 2005: The Pair Make Their First Public Appearance In Rome

Cruise and Holmes, less than a month after meeting for the first time, made their first appearance as a couple in Rome, Italy.

May 2005: Cruise Jumps On Oprah's Couch While Declaring His Love For Holmes

In a now infamous interview, Cruise appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show , where he displayed erratic behavior . He jumped up and down on Winfrey's couch and, with conviction, fell to his knees as he expressed excitement about his relationship with Holmes.

Winfrey later told the press she was confused by Cruise's behavior, and a poll on People found his actions convinced 63% of readers the Cruise-Holmes union was a publicity stunt.

June 2005: Holmes Explores Scientology

After Holmes started dating Cruise, she began making decisions that upset those close to her. For one, she fired her manager and publicist for undisclosed reasons. She also began exploring the Church of Scientology, which Cruise belonged to. The Church of Scientology assigned Holmes a "Scientology assistant" named Jessica Rodriguez, who followed Holmes everywhere she went.

In an interview with W magazine, Rodriguez was present to coach Holmes through her answers. Holmes  said of Scientology, "You know, it's really exciting.. I just started auditing, and I'm taking some courses, and I really like it."

A source told  People  magazine that Holmes never became a "full-fledged member" of the church.

June 2005: They Were Engaged Just Eight Weeks After Meeting

The pair got engaged in June, just eight weeks after their first meeting in April. Cruise proposed at the top of the Eiffel Tower, where the two dined at Le Jules Verne. Shortly after, Cruise called a press conference to announce their engagement.

In a callback to when Cruise leaped off Oprah Winfrey's couch, he said of the wedding, "I’ll be jumping on couches for a very long time."  People reported that Holmes and Cruise didn't touch during the entire press conference.

Mid-2005: Holmes Turns Down A Role In 'Factory Girl,' Allegedly Due To Scientology's Views On Psychiatry

Holmes was originally slated for a role in Factory Girl , which the Weinstein Company released in 2006. The movie is about actress-model Edie Sedgwick, known for starring in Andy Warhol's films. Holmes dropped out of the project at the last minute, however.

The media speculated Holmes's decision was a reflection of her newfound involvement in Scientology, which doesn't believe in psychiatry. Throughout her life, Sedgwick was in and out of mental institutions and perished from taking too many hard substances.

Cruise also said in an interview that he didn't want Holmes to play victims and preferred she stick to portraying strong women.

October 5, 2005: Holmes And Cruise Announce They're Expecting A Baby

In early October, six months after meeting, Cruise and Holmes announced they were expecting their first child together.

Cruise had already adopted his ex-wife Nicole Kidman's children, and the baby would be Holmes's first.

April 2006: Suri Cruise Is Born During What Might Have Been A 'Silent Birth'

Scientology practices silent births , where the person giving birth is supposed to be completely quiet, "as calm and no-talk as possible." The birth is also supposed to feel relaxing for the mother.

It's possible Holmes went through this process when delivering Suri.

September 2006: Holmes And Cruise Present Suri To The Public

Holmes and Cruise introduced Suri to the public in early September, four months after her birth. Because the pair waited so long to share a photo of the child, people began speculating Suri was ill, or that Cruise and Holmes had made up the pregnancy entirely to garner publicity for their films  War of the Worlds and Batman Begins , respectively.

Holmes and Cruise chose Vanity Fair as the magazine where Suri made her debut .

November 2006: Holmes And Cruise Wed In Italy

Over a year after their engagement, Holmes and Cruise tied the knot at a ceremony in Bracciano, Italy. They had their wedding at Odescalchi Castle and spent $3 million on the ceremony. Giorgio Armani, himself a wedding guest, designed the two dresses Holmes wore that night - Swarovski crystals adorned one of the dresses, which is rumored to have taken 305 hours to make.

Holmes's friends were notably absent from the wedding. Celebrities and Scientology officials were the primary guests in attendance. Stars like John Travolta, Jennifer Lopez, and Will and Jada Pinkett Smith came to the event. But Holmes's Dawson's Creek co-stars were missing.

May 2010: Holmes Performs A Seductive Dance For Cruise At A Charity Event

In May 2010, Holmes and Cruise performed together to raise money for the Motion Picture and Television Fund.

Holmes performed a sultry dance to "Whatever Lola Wants," while Cruise had his own choreography.

March 2011: Holmes Stops Talking About Cruise As Often As She Once Did

Holmes eventually stopped speaking about Cruise like she did in the beginning of their relationship. She no longer gushed over her husband, instead focusing more on talking about her acting roles.

She told  Marie Claire , "I feel ready. For the next chapter in my life. I’m excited to begin a new phase: roles I might have been afraid to play, places I want to travel with my daughter."

June 2012: Cruise Premieres His Film 'Rock of Ages' Without Holmes

In June 2012, Cruise showed up to the premiere of his film Rock of Ages . Holmes was notably absent. Cruise made brief mention of Holmes on the red carpet, calling her "an amazing woman."

He also raved about Holmes in an interview with Playboy :

She is an extraordinary person, and if you spent five minutes with her, you’d see it. Everything she does, she does with this beautiful creativity. She’s funny and charming, and when she walks into the room, I just feel better. I’m a romantic. I like doing things like creating romantic dinners, and she enjoys that.

June 2012: Holmes And Cruise File For Divorce

Holmes is rumored to have thought Cruise might send their daughter Suri to the Sea Org, a Scientologist organization where children are subjected to forced labor at sea. Holmes filed for divorce, and just 10 days later, the pair reached a settlement that gave Holmes custody of Suri .

The settlement allegedly prevents Suri from becoming involved with Scientology. Because Scientologists have to cut off family members who leave the church, Cruise has gone for long periods of time without seeing Suri.

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's strict divorce rules for daughter Suri

The dawson's creek star and the mission impossible actor split in 2012.

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise were once considered one of Hollywood's It-couples, so news of their split in 2012 came as a shock to fans.

The couple tied the knot in November 2006 in Odescalchi Castle near Rome, Italy, and during their six-year marriage, they welcomed their daughter Suri .

Dawson's Creek star Katie is often seen spending time in New York City with the 18-year-old after she was granted full custody of her daughter in the divorce settlement. See the other divorce rules Tom and Katie agreed to follow to prioritise her well-being.

Suri was born in April 2006, with doting father Tom later gushing to  ABC News : "It was everything that we wanted it to be... It was spiritual. It was powerful. It was indescribable."

She was just six years old when Katie filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences."

Tom confessed to German TV network ProSieben: "I didn't expect it," adding: "Life is a tragicomedy. You need to have a sense of humor."

Katie and Tom released a joint statement that read: "We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests.

"We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents."

Divorce terms 

Katie reportedly deliberately filed for divorce in New York, where family law judges tend not to grant joint custody to fighting parents to prevent conflicts for the children.

She was granted sole custody and Tom agreed to several financial obligations, including paying Katie $400,000 a month until Suri turned 18 years old, according to the  Daily Mail . The Mission Impossible actor also agreed to shoulder "medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs".

Aside from finances, the pair also set out boundaries when it came to religion. Tom is a devout Scientologist, and when he split from his first wife Nicole Kidman in 2001, their two adopted children Isabella and Connor continued to be Scientologists and drifted apart from their mother.

Catholic-raised Katie was supposedly afraid of history repeating itself with Suri, which is why she sought sole custody. This allowed her to remove her daughter from any Scientology-influenced schools, like the Delphian School in Oregon where Tom's older children attended.

Instead, Suri attended LaGuardia High School and has hinted she is planning to study at Carnegie Mellon University .

According to TMZ, Katie and Tom's divorce agreement also included restrictions on what they could tell Suri regarding religion. The little girl supposedly couldn't be exposed to anything Scientology-related.

Tom was very excited to become a father to Suri, even controversially buying a medical-grade sonogram machine in order to see her throughout Katie's pregnancy.

Throughout Suri's childhood, the father-daughter duo were often pictured on public outings before Tom and Katie divorced.

However, the Top Gun actor spent less and less time with his daughter following the split.  Lindsay George , BACP-registered counsellor and psychotherapist, told HELLO! that this may have had  an impact on Suri's attachment , which was likely secure until her father left.

"Suri may well have felt quite confused at the time as to why her dad left," she began.

"We can speculate that he was present and an emotionally available dad. Obviously, she's got her mum too, so potentially, Suri's attachment style is secure because she's had two parents emotionally and physically available in those early years of her life, which is super important."

Former Scientologist Samantha Domingo told  Us Weekly that Tom was "not allowed" to have a relationship with Suri as she was not a Scientologist.

Samantha explained the Church's belief in reincarnation means they would not view Suri as Tom's daughter, but as a "spiritual being in Tom's daughter's body."

Tom has denied these claims, stating his busy work schedule has prevented them from spending time together. The physical distance also doesn't help, since Suri lives in New York City and Tom has made London his primary base.

Den Prom-Look rundete sie mit goldenen High Heels ab, in denen ihre dunkel lackierten Fußnägel zum Vorschein kamen. Ihre Haare trug die junge Frau gewellt. So glamourös sah man die Tochter von Tom Cruise, 61, selten.

Doch viel mehr Aufmerksamkeit als ihr Outfit zog ihre Begleitung auf sich. Hand in Hand spazierte sie mit einem braunhaarigen jungen Mann über die Straßen. Er trug einen blauen Anzug mit weißer Ansteckblume und braunen Lederschuhen.

Wie die "Daily Mail" berichtet, handelt es sich bei dem jungen Mann um Toby Cohen, einen aufstrebenden Musiker. Seinem Instagram-Profil zufolge sei er ein Sänger und Songwriter, der im kommenden Herbst das renommierte Berklee College of Music in Boston besuchen werde. Cruise hingegen wurde an der angesehenen Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh angenommen, was etwa zwei Flugstunden oder neun Autostunden von Cohens Universität entfernt liegt.
