Good value for money

Good value for money. Excellent coach driver. Stayed at the Georgian Hollies hotel in Blackpool, found the hotel very basic, room was a little on the small side but sufficed. Food was ok. Staff at hotel very good and entertainment ok. Happy go lucky atmosphere amongst other travellers and driver went out of his way to help passengers. All in all quite a pleasurable holiday.

Hi Alun ans thanks for your review. We're glad that you enjoyed your trip to Blackpool and hope to see you again soon.

Leisurely for us.

Nice driver. Lovely hotel in a great location. Staff were helpful and the room was very good and clean. The trips were very well organised and although Jock had never been before he found his way around brilliantly. All in all a fabulous weekend.

Date of experience : 14 June 2024

Blackpool trip.

Whole booking experience perfect. Ray, our coach driver, was very professional...second to none. The evening meals at The Georgian Hollies weren't really up to scratch....portions quite small being the main problem. Staff however were very good.

Hi Julia. Thanks so much for taking the time to write and whilst we're obviously thrilled with your positive comments, we will investigate the meal portions at the Georgian Hollies, as tghis hotel normally gets great reviews for its food. We will find out what happened.

Thank you so much and Anton will be pleased to read your comments. We are glad that the hotel responded quickly to any issues you had, but sorry that you had the issues in the first place.

Ray our driver goes above and beyond for passengers

My sister and I have just returned from a blackpool trip with leisuretime & toureasy. We had a fantastic driver called Ray, he went all out for the people travelling on our bus. Helped in every way to make sure your travelling experience was pleasant. Top marks Ray. Couldn't have wished for a nicer man. Stayed in the Georgian Hollies Hotel. Lovely hotel, welcoming staff, beautiful food, good selection of choice and served piping hot, clean rooms and tea and coffee making facilities in every room. Nightly entertainment pleasant staff.would recommend.

Thanks for giving us such honest feedback and we are sorry the hotel was not entirely to your liking. The hotel will also try and swap rooms around if they are asked. We have used the Georgain Hollies for years and it generally gets excellent reviews. Yes, it is a basic hotel but the food, entertainment and hospitality generally far outweigh this. We are genuinely sorry that was not the case for you.

We asked to sit near the front of the bus and we was put half way down the bus right by the toilet on seat 30. We asked when we booked this trip to westesten super mare to be seated down near the front of the bus

We are so sorry that we could not accommodate your seating request but this trip was very busy. Should you book again with us we will do all we can to seat you closer to the front. Our apologies once again.

lovely day trip to weston…

nice clean bus arrived early but left on time.plenty of updates with changes.pleasant driver only thing was an allocated seat when there were some spare which would have been nice to stretch out

Dear Anne, we're so pleased you enjoyed our Big Day Out in Weston. The weekend sold so well that we literally sold every seat, but we had a number of no-shows on the day which gave rise to the spare seats you mention. Once everyone is boarded from our last pick up point, you are always free to move around if you see a spare seat that you fancy!

Good atmosphere and everybody joined in. Punch and judy and the bingo not for me. so I went walkabout as I was brought up in Bristol and Weston was my stomping ground. That I could do that for me was great.

We're so pleased that you enjoyed the trip and found something for yourself! Thanks so much for taking the time to post your review.

Lovely Isle of Wight Break

This was my first coach trip ever. Just returned from the Isle of Wight and had a really wonderful time. Our driver, Leighton, was absolutely fabulous and he really added the extra star on my review. The coach was comfortable, the hotel was perfect and maybe my only criticism would be too much free time in Ventnor after we went to the gardens as most shops were closed (including the pubs) so we basically killed time until it was time to get back on the coach.

Date of experience : 31 May 2024

Hi Elaine. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave this review. We're so thrilled that you had such a good time, especially as this was your first coach holiday ever! We'll take a look at our timings for Ventnor but do hope to see you travelling with us again.

Driver was amazing, couldn't do enoughand kept the bus clean. Hotel was a big let down. It smelt of sewerage

Firstly I couldn't fault the cleanliness of the bus. It was spotless and the driver Stephen was a diamond. Nothing was too much trouble. He took us on trips and explained with the best places go. But the hotel was shocking. Our room was very outdated, dusty and the carpets had animal fluff on it. They didn't say that people were allowed dogs in the hotel, but I saw several. Which didn't help is I'm allergic to animals The hotel had a really bad smell of sewerage and don't pay for a Seaview cause you won't be able to sea out of the windows, they're filthy. Haven't been cleaned in years. The windows didn't shut properly and everytime someone moved the floors creaked and could heard your neighbours conversation. Hotel Location was good and the staff were really nice but I won't go back there again.

Dear Pauline, thanks for taking the time to post a review but we are really shocked by your comments about the hotel. We will be in contact with you directly in the nect few days to find out more so that we can investigate further. In the meantime please accept our apologies - but thanks for saying such lovely things about Stephen, in particular. We will let him know!

Had a wonderful trip to London to see Abba voyage with leisure time , everything was so organised and well planned out , our driver was spot on with dropping us off places and was always waiting to pick us back up . The show was absolutely amazing , would definitely recommend ! Can’t wait to book another trip .

Newquay weekendlly good

The tour was generally good. Coach and driver and included tours were good. Hotel was not up to standard. Rooms were small and decor on the corridors was very poor. Staff were lovely and food was OK. The one night's entertainment was very good. Situation of the hotel was good.

Date of experience : 31 May 2024

Dear Sandra, we are glad you enjoyed so many things about your weekend away with us, but obviously sorry that the hotel let us down. In the light of your comments and those of others, it is likely we will remove the Beresford from our programme now. We will be in touch directly to better understand your views on it too. We do still hope to see you again on one of our trips and thank you for the honest feedback.

Torquay mini break

The driver Rob was an absolute legend of a man, nothing was to much trouble. The Hotel was rather large and could easily get lost, however if you chose the upgrade option as I did the room was huge and a patio to enjoy a nice coffee and enjoy the sun etc and was clean. It was very peaceful where I was. However, if like me you struggle with hills and walking then maybe think twice, but there is always buses and tram and taxis right outside so that is a bonus. For a mini break it served its purpose and I relaxed. I can't say anything bad about the hotel or the area, as i dont believe there is anything bad to write however for me personally it was not my cup of tea,

Date of experience : 17 May 2024

HI Angharad. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review of your trip with us. We're glad you managed to relax but sorry that the hotel was not your cup of tea. We hope to see you again soon.

Good experience

I went on a Leisuretime Toureasy coach trip to London recently to see Andre Reiu. The experience was second to none from the outset. The coach driver Ray was accommodating from start to finish and a good safe driver to boot. Comfort stops along the route and arrived on time at the hotel with time to spare to change our outfits before we left for the venue. Our seats in the venue had good views of the stage and the performance was amazing. Really enjoyed the whole weekend. The free time in London was well split between two stop offs and we had lovely weather which helped immensely. A lovely trip.

We had the best driver ever (Ray)

We had the best driver ever (Ray). He was so pleasant and accommodating with everyone. He made time for everyone on the coach which showed when we had a collection for him, not only money but other gifts as well, that how much the people appreciated him. I just hope that Sean could see this feedback but I couldn't find his email address. I do hope he does see my feedback. We left newport on the 24 May and returned on the 27 May. I have been to this hotel before and the driver that time was excellent but I can't recall his name. Just keep up the good work. Veronica Evans

Beanites 2 day trip to Tintern and Monmouth.

2 day trip to Tintern and Monmouth with an overnight stay at Cwrt Bleddyn Spa. Option of treatment at Spa, but my group opted for shopping. Ella our coach driver was excellent, very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Trip to Tintern bit disappointing as not much there, but drive through countryside was lovely. Hotel was well situated, staff friendly and helpful and food was good. Only negative was the accessibility for people with mobility difficulties- lots of steps and stairs and no lift. Trip to Monmouth well worth it. Lovely independent shops and a trip to the courthouse and jail well worth a visit- free entry, but take someone with you as it’s a bit spooky. On the whole an enjoyable way to spend a Bank Holiday.

Date of experience : 05 May 2024

Thank you so much for sharing your experience on our spa break. We're glad you enjoyed it and hope you weren't too spooked by the jail! We will ensure that we make it clear to future customers that those with mobility issues may not find the hotel an ideal choice. We hope to see you again soon.

Interesting trip

The driver was informative and provided a smooth journey on the coach. There was time in Glastonbury to shop, eat and visit a nearby church. The stay at the Travelodge was very comfortable and where impressed with the catering. The visit to Stonehenge was very well organised, followed by a trip to Salisbury to catch a bite to eat and see the shops. The trip was excellent value for money and I will be booking another trip.

A wonderful weekend spent at the Riviera Hotel in Torquay. Our coach driver Gerry was a very capable driver. He welcomed us all onto the coach and we felt completely relaxed. Our stay at The Riviera was perfect. It has very modern standards there. Our bedrooms were large, comfortable and cleaned daily. The dining area is huge and the staff were always on hand to provide their guests with their requirements. A varied choice of different meals was available for the breakfast and evening meals. Entertainment each night : A quiz, ,bingo and followed by a cabaret artist.. We will certainly be returning to The Riviera Hotel at a later date . Many thanks to Toni and staff from Leisure Time. Your help was much appreciated. Diolch yn fawr.

“blackpool”.

Visited Blackpool for Christmas. The coach trip and driver were excellent We stayed at the Georgian Hollies hotel. The hotel was very poor and badly organised. The food was hit and miss one day ran out of soup. They had a buffet and we had to queue for half hour. The rooms were very small with a double bed against one wall and one single wardrobe. Could not go in the concert room as people had reserved tables by putting drinks on them before going for dinner to keep the seats. I did complain to the manager about this but he had no interest to solve the problem. I certainly would not recommend this hotel and will never return. .

“Fantastic travel organiser!”

written by Safiataylor89 on 23/12/2023

Booked a mystery trip 18th Dec organised by leisure time. The booking was great, allowed £25 booking with remainder 2 months prior to the holiday so really great. The trip was also great value for money. A week prior, the organisers let us know where we were headed, travel times and seats. We were allowed good baggage allowance, our driver was amazing, he made the trip really fun. The trips organised was also great, made sure we experienced different things around the area. The hotel which was chosen was also very accommodating, always willing to help. Overall it was an amazing pre Christmas trip.

Blenheim Palace on Saturday and Bath on Sunday before returning back to Cardiff. The driver was very welcoming and informative.we arrived at Blenheim Palace and was given tickets for entry to Palace also light show. Very enjoyable in Palace to see Sleeping Beauty tour, unfortunate the wind too high to see light tour but Leisuretime has e.mailed a refund to us off a future trip. Thankyou for a lovely weekend.k

My husband and I went to Torquay on the 28th August till 1st September with Leisuretime by toureasy. Our driver couldn't do enough for you.He was very friendly, very polite .We had a laugh with him .We went on excursions and he told us everything we needed to know like what time we had to be at the bus and what time we needed to take our luggage to the bus on the final day. The hotel was great and we would book again and recommend people to go with leisuretime by toureasy as you get well looked after and they do everything to make your holiday very good. The places we went on excursions were very interesting and lovely. Keep up the good work.

We all felt very safe in her hands as she drove us around and manoeuvred the coach into some tricky parking spots. She was a clear communicator and kept us on track with times. A highlight of the trip was the Easy Lancs Railway and Manchester ship canal cruise. We enjoyed the Coronarion St tour but didn’t get to meet any of the actors.

“Day trip to Tenby ”

written by on 18/06/2023

Hi on the 27th of may 2023 me and my boyfriend and my mum and brother went on a day trip to Tenby it was a bank holiday weekend took us ages to get there as we left Cardiff at around 9:40am it would of been better if we left at 8:30am as we would of had longer down Tenby our driver was so lovely always making sure everyone was alright and we even had a bottle of water free she made our coach trip enjoyable.

“Abysmal Customer Service & serious safety problems....”

written by LouiseB73 on 26/11/2022

Longleat and the hotel were exceptional. The service by the Leasuretime and the driver, not so. First the bus was half hour late departing due to a problem with the mechanism on the door. We were eventually picked up and the driver then had to stop en-route to ensure he did not exceed his driving hours. When we got off at Le-Delamare serices, he asked if the passengers wanted to do the safari part of the trip or get off at the entrance to have free-time at the park. Most of the passengers wanted to get off at the entrance to see Longleast House and explore. Some passengers had booked a boat trip on Longleat lake. However, when we got to the park, the driver ignored the request and spent 2 hours driving slowly around the safari. At the same time, the air conditioning was broken and the temperature of the bus was red hot. All of the passengers were shouting that we were desperate for air. When we eventually parked at Longleat, it was gone 3.00pm and the entrance to Longleat house was closed. There were a lot of passengers who were bitterly disapointed. Longleat made up for it with their spectacular festival of lights - they really, really delivered - the lights were sensational. We left the park to go to the hotel: Jury's Hotel in Swindon. The hotel was modern and spotless. The Staff could give Leisuretime staff a run for their money - perhaps they could train them in customer ettiquate! The staff at Jury's were lovely - friendly and so helpful. On leaving the hotel and getting on the bus, the door was not working again. We had to get on the bus via the emergency exit/entrance The door to the toilet had also come off and was hanging loose by the end of the journey. The poor maintence and issue with the door/s were v worrying - if we had needed to leave the vechicle quickly in the event of an emergncy, would we have been able to do so? I feel that our safety was compromised. We only had one exit/entrance that was working/ This must be against Health & safety protocols ? It was only the poor, maintence of the coach, the drver and customer service staff that ruined what could have been a overwise great trip. The staff most certainly need training in customer services and communication skills.

“Everything First Class”

written by traveltrev on 19/06/2022

Just returning from a great weekend in Tenby, awful weather but made up for by everything else. Communication, organisation, professionalism all first class. Amazing driver, very capable and friendly. We have stayed at the Belgrave many times over the years and it never fails to please. We had a large, sea view room with a table and chairs in the bay window overlooking beautiful south beach. The food, as always was freshly prepared, tasty and hot and the newly refurbished restaurant was very pleasant. The staff could not do more to please. A big bonus for us was the specially requested Chepstow pick up. Make it a regular and you've got our business !

“Unprofessional and unresponsive”

written by Steelelz1982 on 16/12/2021

I didn't even want to give them one star as they don't deserve that, but unfortunately unable to write review otherwise. Been waiting for refund since last year and if you do get through to their unprofessional staff they give the same well rehearsed speak that they are waiting for their refund from ABTA. They tell us that they refunded our money to Tailor-made Travel who went I to administration, but they are not prepared to provide evidence of this. Last phone call the person would not give her name an put the phone down. Been a loyal to customer of Leisuretime but will never use or recommend them to anyone. Have no choice but to seek legal action and get X-Ray involved.

“Great trip to the Cotswolds”

written by RiverWright47 on 17/02/2020

Our driver absolutely made this trip. He was so friendly and helpful, couldn't have asked for more. The whole trip was great, the only disappointing part was the food in the hotel which was not Leisuretimes fault. The coach was very comfy and warm and the driver made sure we were safe and gave us clear instructions and times to be back on the coach. Overall excellent value for money and would definitely go with Leisuretime again .

“left out in the sticks”

written by bobbydazzler10 on 12/10/2018

My wife & i booked a 7 day break to Scotland with leisuretime at the beginning of May this year.Where we were supposed to be staying at the Fishers hotel in Pitlochry.Alas a fortnight before we were due to depart we had a letter from leisuretime to say we would be staying the Loch Rannoch hotel, which is about 20 miles from Pitlochry ,and in the middle of nowhere.Never the less the hotel was very nice, although the staff at mealtimes were lacking. The service was terrible, the first morning we had menu,s on the tables with a choice of buffet breafast or a cooked breakfast, also a choice of smoked salmon, smoked haddock or kippers, all at a £3 supplement.Alas after the first morning the menu,s disappeared, and you were served with a cooked breakfast whether you wanted it or not.Having said all that the holiday itself was smashing. With trips to Aberfeldy distillery,Blair Atholl castle,a trip on the Strathspey steam railway, and on the way home a trip to Leith docks in Edinburgh to go on the royal yacht Brittania. The trips were very good.Another thing we were not told is the overnight stops ,one in Morecambe on the way to Scotland which was a nice hotel, and one in Preston on the way home not so good. Also we we lost over an hour at Magor services,as we had to change coaches,as there was a problem with the one we started with, although it was quite a new coach. But i must admit our coach driver was a smashing guy,and i think all the other passengers would agree with that.

absolutely terrible v uncomfortable coach. Took 10 hrs to get there. Travelling back on hottest day of year had to wait 3hrs in services outside Birmingham for a change of driver then air conditioning stopped working. It was so hot and didn't stop again for 6 hrs when had a 5 minute toilet break while driver changed again, just as well as toilet not working on coach. In all took 12 hrs to get home. Leisure time did not care as phoned them during journey and they placed all blame on coach company. Arrived home feeling very ill and very very fed up. Never again, Edwards sooo much better

“Super deal 5 day trip valentine's”

written by 313Ortiz on 29/03/2018

My husband & I went again this year on a super deal staying at Rivera hotel Torquay. Journey was much better this time with fewer pickups, hotel is currently being refurbished. Our room was a little dated . But new owners doing a great job . Loads of improvements & lots being spent . Food was good, staff very helpful. Overall very good value. We had a lovely time & can't wait to go on another break with leisuretime soon.

“Good value”

written by Beachbaby1 on 12/12/2017

My husband & I went to haddon hall hotel Eastbourne. Last year for a valentine's 5 day break. Excursions were good & varied, food in hotel was warm & tasty the dinning room was decorated with lovely valentine's theme.only thing we could fault was a lot of pick ups on the way which made the journey longer. Also we booked a double room but was given twin room, has this was meant to be a romantic valentine's break we were a little disappointed.but overall was great value for money.we are going again this year for 5day valentine's break on a mystery super deal.

“Pontypridd to Babbacombe”

written by 359Reid on 20/10/2017

Firstly, coach arrived exactly on time for pickup, we were to meet other coaches at Cardiff West and then transfer to coach taking us to our destination. It was a little problematic with luggage but an extremely helpful young lady assisted us, so no major problems ensued. After several pickups we made our way to Babbbacombe, stopping off twice, once at a service station and secondly at Trego Mills centre near destination. We made excellent time and our driver was a cheerful soul. On arrival at Babbacombe Hotel we were expected to take own luggage from coach, but once left in Hotel lobby cases were taken to rooms by staff. Our welcome was pleasant, rooms excellent with lovely comfortable beds, ample bathroom with toiletries included, plentiful hot water and everything spotless clean. Food and dining room service was excellent and overall entertainment was pretty good, the downside being that entertainment ended too early at 10.20 pm due to other guests making early morning departures on coach trips. Our coach trips consisted of a period of time spent in Plymouth followed by an hour the same day in Torquay. We were disappointed that the trips were not split over 2 days, but had the option of returning to Hotel should we not want just an hour to visit Torquay. We took a taxi the following day to Torquay which the Hotel booked for us and which was good value and recommended. Our return homeward journey again was excellent with a stop off inevitably at Burnham on Sea, a place it seems the majority of tour operators use, some of us like it and some don't!! At Cardiff West after several drop offs we were very pleased to find our homeward coach came in shortly after our own and our journey was swift and pleasant. We have travelled with Leisuretime before and experienced some delays, mostly beyond their control and we have had one Hotel that may not have been quite up to the mark, but on this occasion can genuinely say that we were all (a party of 9) very pleased. Would have no hesitation in booking with this company again, excellent service and value for money.

“Not yet gone but choice of hotel unbelievable ”

written by Hull448 on 20/10/2017

I am due to travel on Saturday to Oxford and bicester on the Sunday - Oct 2017 I am today told that the hotel we are staying in is 1.5 hours away in Luton airport. An airport with no alternative facilities or place to go in the evening. I am speechless!! How on earth can this trip be promoted as an Oxford trip when it is in another county, is bound to cut short any time in Oxford and a very early trip to Bicester Cardiff is 2 hours away and technically a similar distance for me to return to my home. I can't begin to understand how it is acceptable. Even the staff I have spoken to on the phone are surprised and am hoping they can see how the trip arrangements are a far cry from what any customer wants ( and a very misleading description for the trip) . I understand they have the right to select an allocated hotel, but a reasonable location to a maximum of 15mins I would have thought and not a different county!!! Far from acceptable given the distance to travel and not a customer'service fault to accept poor planning. I am hoping a full refund is possible. The location would have ensured no booking at all.

Testimonials

An extra tick for our Tour Driver who was amazing with his commmentary and knowledge. Great group of people and saw Car Collections I have been wanting to see for years.

Classic cars of the South | May 2023

Beautiful homes with very pleasant hosts. Tour driver was a great leader, friendly, capable and organised. Will definitely recommend.

Whanganui Historic Homes | May 2023

Especially impressed with door to door service a big point of difference and having tea & coffee when we arrived. Looking forward to travelling again with the company in 2024.

Forgotten World | April 2023

Tour driver was exceptional a great asset to your company. I was very impressed with your pick ups and drop off service that you used for me. ‘Very high standard’ I was most impressed.

Canterbury High Country Stations | March 2023

Tour drivers were all careful, guides were knowledgeable and ensured we had the best experience. Itinerary was well balanced mix of walks, sightseeing and free time. The other members of our group were fun to be with and we had a good time together. We thoroughly enjoyed each days experiences. Our meal at Redcliff cafe was superb. Overall, a fabulous trip.

Fiordlands Great Walks | March 2023

Good communicating on morning of departure. Touring attractions were beyond expectations. We all enjoyed having a different tour guide for each activity. This brought a fresh approach to each day.

Fordland's Great Walks | March 2023

It fulfilled my bucket list, while I have been to the South many times before it was different doing it by bus and not having to drive.

Southland & Stewart Island | February 2023

I have just returned from the central Plateau tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. I appreciate the planning and organisation entailed in that trip. Julie Knight was a fantastic tour leader and an exceptionally goof driver. She engendered a great friendliness among our group with much fun and laughter! Also I want to thank Steve and Dave who chauffeured my friend and I from Auckland Hamilton and return. It was the icing on the cake. Hope to be able to join another trip soon

Central Plateau Tour | August 2022

Thank you for the experience, well organised and run. Ken Miller ran a great show. and everything went off like clockwork( I know we don’t mention clocks on Great Barrier). Our hosts at the Sunset Waterfront Lodge turned on great service in welcoming and comfortable accommodation. Leigh was a most informative guide and competent driver.. Willie as skipper of Sundancer gave us a great insight in many hidden features of the Island. Over-all a pleasant and informative experience.

Great Barrier Island Escape |May 2022

I would like to convey my thanks to the whole team at Leisure Time for the wonderful trip to Great Barrier Island this weekend. The arrangements, organisation and the people involved were absolutely fantastic. I travelled with a disability and received great assistance at all times. Ken our travel guide was superb. I look forward to future travel with Leisure Time tours

Northland Art, Gardens & History Tour | Mar 2022

Private Tour | February 2022

We’d like you to know how much we enjoyed the recent walking trip to the South Island. The trip was brilliant. It was very organised and the walks very well selected, taking us into geographically interesting and spectacular country. Ken Miller was a gem. His detailed knowledge about the places we passed through meant we learned a huge amount. He was a congenial companion and looked after us very well. He is a real asset to the company – and a top class driver.

Central South Island Wanderer | February 2022

Private Tour | November 2021

It was great! Jenny a number of laughs, weather was absolutely perfect , accommodation was good, but what we came to expect was showers over baths – more common down there than in the north but one managed, and got better as time went on getting out of bath. Our driver Ian (replacement) was extremely informative in his narrations and very knowledgeable- I enjoyed him and he assisted me every single time getting off the last step with my replacement knee. The replaced bus was the ideal size for 17 people allowing to have a single seat on one’s own or sharing – that went on more so in the first four seats on both sides.

The trip was great thanks. A really good variety and number of experiences without being too exhausting. We were also fortunate that we got to enjoy Fiordland without vast numbers of tourists. Our fellow travellers were also a good bunch and we’ve made some new friends.

Focus on Fiordland Easter Tour | April 2021

We had the best journey, great experience, heaps of fun, laughs, such a great time. Clem was a great guide, sharing history of different areas throughout our journey, places to go and visit which we did and loved. So many beautiful spots, but not enough time to see everything which means we will be planning another journey. Wayne our driver to and from Auckland airport was a great comedian, and very helpful. The only negative was it wasn’t long enough, meaning our next holiday will have to be longer 😃.

Hokitika Wild Food Festival Tour | March 2021

We arrived at the perfect time with the perfect amount of expert commentary. John is an excellent and safe considerate driver who treated all my clients like VIP’s. All the people in our group have travelled all over the world and experienced the services of coaches over many countries and commented on John’s presentation and local knowledge, which was superb, and his care and consideration on everything he did to make it all easy for me and all my group.

Organiser of private tour and coach charter | March 2021

Many thanks for the great organizing you did with the bus. It was an absolutely awesome tour in a wonderful big, comfy bus with a great driver. Clem was a very safe, competent driver who provided a wonderful informative commentary. We felt really fortunate to have him as our driver as he really added to the depth of the trip. Plus he was a nice man who was one of us while still maintaining his professional standards. Many thanks again for your part in arranging this wonderful trip. I would certainly recommend your company to others.

Private Tour | February 2021

I just wanted to say how much Peter and I enjoyed our trip with you and Les. We had a great time with a most congenial group of fellow travellers and leaders. The organisation was flawless and we saw and heard about so much more than we could have on our own. Even the odd blip – rain at a crucial time and covid –  did nothing to detract from our enjoyment as you and Les seamlessly, for us, arranged alternatives. Les seemed to know the story behind almost every building and blade of grass. He imparted so much information as he drove along and wanting to learn as much as possible about the towns and countryside his commentary was much appreciated.

Leisurely for us.

Nice driver. Lovely hotel in a great location. Staff were helpful and the room was very good and clean. The trips were very well organised and although Jock had never been before he found his way around brilliantly. All in all a fabulous weekend.

Excellent day out from beginning to end the team really looked after us as usual with entertainment all day and the good weather was with us I wouldn’t travel with anyone else Leisuretime is the best can’t wait for the next one

Good atmosphere and everybody joined…

Date of experience : May 31, 2024

Hotel very nice

I'm a Birkenstock girl through and through, but when my kitty recently used my pair of black Birks as a scratching post, I struggled to justify spending that kind of money on a replacement pair. So, I turned to Amazon in search of comfortable, waterproof sandals to wear on my travels. When I discovered Weweya double-buckle pillow slippers at Amazon, I was intrigued. After all, pillow sandals and slippers have become increasingly popular thanks to social media, and this particular style was giving definite Birkenstock vibes at a fraction of the price.

I ordered the Weweya sandals and anxiously awaited their arrival. Straight out of the box, I put them on and could not believe how comfortable they were. The sole of the Weweya buckle sandals is about 1.5 inches thick and made from ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) rubber, just like my beloved waterproof Birkenstocks. In fact, the entire shoe, including the adjustable straps, is made of EVA rubber, resulting in a pillowy-soft feel that’s incredibly soothing and squishy to walk on.

Weweya Double-buckle Pillow Sandals

The lightweight EVA material the sandals are made from is designed to be comfortable and sturdy. When I wore them for the first time, I immediately noticed that each step felt cushioned and soft, yet my feet and arches felt well-supported. The sandals also have a double-buckle design and the straps can be adjusted to your preferred tightness, ensuring the perfect fit.

After buying and wearing my black Weweya sandals, I fell in love with the comfort and the price. What’s more, the shoes are waterproof, so if I found myself caught in the rain during my travels, wet feet were a nonissue. When I have worn the shoes in the rain or to the pool, they’ve dried fast, leaving my feet comfortable and dry and preventing rubbing or blisters.

After wearing my first pair of sandals for hours at a time — through theme parks, airports, cruise ships, and cities — I decided to order another pair, this time in gold. The gold color of the sandals looks great and the buckles are shiny and stylish, making them a good option to throw on with a dress or skirt when I’m headed to dinner during my travels and want to look a bit more dressed up. The sandals have since gone on sale at Amazon for 48 percent off, making them just $21 a pair. Since they’re so lightweight, flexible, and easy to pack, I’ve already added a few other colors to my Amazon cart.

I’m not the only one who loves these Weweya sandals. The shoes have close to 12,000 five-star ratings on Amazon, proving lots of shoppers have tried and fallen in love with these cozy Birkenstock look-alikes. One purchaser says this is “A great shoe. My feet are so comfortable in these shoes, it's like walking on a pillow.”

Terri Peters

Another reviewer states the shoes “feel like you’re walking on bouncy clouds,” and one shopper compares the sandals to “walking on a thick rubber mat.” And yet another happy wearer confirms the sandals “can get wet without becoming soggy and soft.”

These cozy sandals are well worth the $40 price tag, but at 48 percent off, they’re even more of a steal. As I continue to pack and wear them on my summer travels, I’m thankful for my cat and her poor behavior. After all, had she not clawed my Birkenstocks, I’d never have discovered these comfortable, waterproof, lightweight summer sandals.

In the market for a supportive summer sandal, but interested in a different style? I’ve scoured Amazon for a few more cloud-like finds that are all on sale for $30 and under. Keep scrolling for more comfortable picks.

Americans have between 4 and 6 hours of leisure time daily. We just have no idea how to use it.

  • The average American has way more "free" time than you might think.
  • But most of us spend the majority of our leisure time staring at screens.
  • Picking up a new hobby can be a good way to reset — but that's easier said than done.

It's another Tuesday night, and work is winding down. I send my last Slack messages for the evening, fire off a few emails, and shut my laptop with a false sense of finality as if I don't have to return to my desk in sixteen short hours.

I make the short trek from my at-home office to the couch, where I grab the remote and settle in for yet another night of "Real Housewives" viewing. Before I know it, four hours have passed. My eyes are heavy, and it's time for bed. So long, Tuesday.

That's how it goes on Wednesday and Thursday, too. Maybe I'll grab drinks with friends on Friday or switch out reality TV for the newest Netflix movie come Monday, but generally speaking, I spend most of my adult life eating, sleeping, working, and scrolling to the ambient sounds of the telly . It's a far cry from the schedule I kept as a teenager, sprinting from play rehearsal to swim practice and still finding time for homework and socializing in between.

It's true that Americans are overworked , overstressed, and generally awful at unplugging from work, two time-use researchers told Business Insider.

But that only tells half the story.

Americans, on average, have between four to six hours of leisure time every day, according to the American Time Use Survey , which measures the amount of time people spend doing various activities. In 2022, men spent an average of 5.6 hours engaging in leisure activities each day, while women clocked in 4.8 hours of free time, according to the study.

Five hours of free time a day? That can't be right! If I had 25 extra hours each workweek, I certainly would have mastered the piano or written a novel by now, right? Wrong. Instead, all I have to show for my free time is an ungodly knowledge of Bravo lore.

Researchers say I'm not alone in languishing away my leisure time. Several facets of American life, including our reverence for work , our failing social safety net , and the Puritanical ideals on which our country was founded, all play a role in Americans' seeming inability to unwind in meaningful ways, researchers said.

Two elements define leisure: choice and control, according to Brigid Schulte, author of "Overwhelmed: Work, Love, and Play when No One has the Time" and director of the Better Life Lab. People have to choose an activity freely and have control over the time they spend doing it.

That's why, for much of human history, leisure time was out of reach for the masses, restricted to those with the social standing and status to engage in it — namely, rich men.

"It used to be that having discretionary time and being able to engage in leisure activity was a mark you were of a high social class," said Liana Sayer, director of the University of Maryland's Time Use Lab. "If you could do what you wanted with your time, it meant other people were providing the necessities of life for you."

That changed with industrialization, Sayer said. But the idea that those who have more money also have more time is one that still holds true today. People who work steady, 9-to-5 jobs with predictable schedules are much more likely to find extra time in their day, Sayer said. Gig workers and hourly employees, on the other hand, are increasingly reliant on multiple jobs and unpredictable schedules.

Despite class differences, 95% of Americans over the age of 15 engaged in some kind of leisure activity on a typical day, according to the 2022 time-use survey. The leisure category encompasses pastimes like socializing, exercising, and reading for pleasure.

But the vast majority of Americans' leisure time is spent — you guessed it — in front of the television. Watching TV is the most popular leisure activity, accounting for an average of 2.8 hours a day — more than half of all Americans' leisure time.

Much has been made about America's co-dependant relationship with the tube. (Some influential time researchers have argued Americans' social skills started to decline when air conditioning and television became commonplace, allowing people to remain both comfortable and entertained without leaving their homes, Sayer said.) But whether the small screen rots our brains or helps us relax, the act of watching TV is often an inherently anti-social one, researchers said.

It's easy to flip on the TV after a busy day at work because it requires almost no planning and very little brain engagement. Partaking in an out-of-the-house activity or making plans with other people, meanwhile, takes organization and coordination.

Our reliance on TV is part of a larger trend that has seen Americans engage less and less with other people and pro-social institutions like church or volunteer groups, Sayers said, adding that this is a pre-pandemic pattern. While COVID-19 certainly shifted our approach to work and leisure, it can't be solely blamed for Americans' increasing loneliness.

Sexism and the safety net

There is also a gendered element at play when it comes to Americans' leisure time. Married mothers do about three times the amount of housework, and twice as much childcare as married fathers do, Sayer said. There's some evidence that men are starting to step up their contributions post-pandemic, according to Sayer. However, much of women's "free" time is still dedicated to household duties and parenting.

"Most women don't feel like they deserve leisure time," Schulte said. "They feel like they have to earn it."

That mindset is not unique to American women and dates as far back as biblical times, researchers said. Women have long been transforming their leisure time into productive activities, from starting sewing circles to socializing at the watering hole, Schulte said.

But Americans' toxic relationship with leisure isn't gender-specific. A valorization of "hard work" was built into the very founding of our country, Schulte said. As a result, Americans have an intrinsic desire to be busy; we take it as a point of pride to overwork ourselves and cultivate little societal respect for hobbies and recreation. And Americans have been getting busier and busier over the course of the last few decades, increasingly to the detriment of their civic and social life, Schulte said.

"A lot of that panic and anxiety can be tied back to the '70s and '80s and the dismantling of the social safety net," she added.

When it comes to prioritizing leisure time, America could take some cues from its European friends. Norwegians average more than six hours of leisure time each day. At the same time, the Belgians and Greeks pursue relaxation and hobbies for more than five-and-a-half hours each day on average, according to time use data from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. The US ranked 21 in global leisure time.

But America today lacks much of the infrastructure that would allow people to fully embrace and prioritize their leisure time, researchers said. People can't take the time to learn a new skill or truly unwind without robust maternity leave, affordable childcare, a better work-life balance, and dependable healthcare in place, Schulte said.

European countries far outrank the US when it comes to social spending. In 2019, France spent nearly a third of its gross domestic product on services related to health, family, unemployment, housing, and other benefits, according to OECD data compiled by the World Economic Forum . Finland, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Spain, Japan, and the UK all dedicated 20% or more of their spending to social services, while the US ranked ninth with 18.7%.

"A lot needs to change big-picture with policymakers and business leaders," Schulte said of the US. "But people can't wait until then to pick up a new hobby."

Most adults struggle to remember what they even liked to do as a kid, which is one of the reasons TV has become the national default leisure activity. Schulte recommends starting small: Set a timer for 30 minutes each day and practice developing the muscle of first remembering what you like to do and then giving it a try.

Beginning ballet

The best way to recover and "refresh your soul," as the Greeks described it, is to completely detach from work and take a proper break, according to Ciara Kelly, a lecturer in work psychology at The University of Sheffield.

Hobbies are particularly good for that, Kelly said, citing a 2019 study she led that found people who engaged in hobbies enjoyed improved confidence and saw benefits at their jobs.

The study's findings resonated with me. I had been an activity-driven adolescent, someone who found purpose and community in my hobbies and passions. I missed having an identity outside my work and media consumption.

So, I did what any rational 26-year-old journalist would: I signed up for a beginner's ballet class.

It was terrifying. I hadn't worn ballet slippers since I was four years old. I had no idea what the French words flying out of my teacher's mouth meant. My balance was terrible, and my flexibility left much to be desired.

In those first few weeks, I came dangerously close to quitting, nearly falling prey to the achievement-oriented culture that runs rampant in America.

"We're focused on doing and being the best — even in yoga classes — people have written about trying to outdo others as if we're in constant competition," Schulte told me. "But leisure requires none of that."

So, I kept going back. Even though I wasn't the best one in my class. Even though I sometimes (often) looked silly. And for 50 minutes every Monday night, I feel like a kid again.

Gesashi River Mangrove Canoe & River Trekking Tour

1-day course Mangrove Kayaking & River Trekking This time, we participated as a group of three, including an elementary school student (a boy in the second grade). The weather was good on the day, and my son seemed to be having fun even before we left. The meeting place was easy to find, and the kind husband accepted us and took us to the site. There are also toilets and changing rooms. Since the kayak is for three people, my son rode with the husband. My son, who seemed worried at first, had a special seat, and he quickly got used to it after learning a lot from the husband. We went upstream, encountered various creatures, and when we came back, we were taught how to fish for crabs on the tidal flats. You'll have to go and see how to fish (lol). Lunch at the restaurant was also delicious. We went river trekking in the afternoon, and while there were not many people, we were able to go to the waterfall and the water was incredibly beautiful. On the way back, we were given some very rare pineapple, sata andagi, and sea grapes. Our family of three had a great time that day. The husband's personality is the best. Next time we use their services, we'll do a different activity. My son said that he really enjoyed sea kayaking. It became a good memory of Okinawa. Thank you very much. PS. We also got a CD-R of photos taken by the owner. 5.0 ★★★★★ Experience date: July 2017
