3DS Mario Circuit

Mario Circuit is the second course of the Flower Cup in Mario Kart 7 . It is strongly based off the Mario Kart DS version of the track. Unlike other Mario Circuit tracks, where Peach 's Castle is a background element, this course allows players to drive through the castle. This rendition of Mario Circuit returns in Mario Kart Tour , where it appears in tours starting with the Tokyo Tour . This track shares its music with Toad Circuit.

This is the only Flower Cup course in Mario Kart 7 to not have a different name in British English versions.

Course layout [ ]

The track takes place on a large grassy field with sand roads, Mushroom Trampolines, pipes, blossoming peach trees, a lake, and Peach's Castle. The course starts on a small straight road and after two turns which a large curve with pink leaves appears. Then the player jumps off of a ramp, landing on a Mushroom Trampoline. Then a similar road to that of Mario Kart DS 's Mario Circuit which leads the way up to Peach's Castle. Then the road enters in Peach's Castle and, after a wide turn up the spiral staircase, a Glide Ramp enables the driver to fly out of the castle. Then a number of pipes appear that shoot out air, along with some Goombas. A very long, large pipe similar to the ones from Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart DS appears, in which drivers must drive through in a curve leading them back to a long road going back to the finish.

The falling flower petals from the trees are intended to serve as a 3D effect of the Nintendo 3DS. When 3D mode is activated, the falling petals appear to "pop out" of the screen

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe ’s third wave of add-on courses is coming to the Switch game on Dec. 7, Nintendo announced Monday, and will include fan favorites like the autumnal, Wiggler-filled Maple Treeway from Mario Kart Wii and arguably the best Rainbow Road course yet, which comes from Mario Kart 7 for the Nintendo 3DS. Merry Mountain, brought over from mobile game Mario Kart Tour , will bring some wintry, Christmas-themed fun to Switch owners.

Wave 3 of the Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe represents the halfway point for Nintendo’s planned DLC. When the third pack arrives, 24 of the 48 courses included with the DLC package will be playable. Here’s what’s included in the next batch:

  • Tour London Loop ( Mario Kart Tour )
  • GBA Boo Lake ( Mario Kart: Super Circuit )
  • 3DS Rock Rock Mountain ( Mario Kart 7 )
  • Wii Maple Treeway ( Mario Kart Wii )
  • Tour Berlin Byways ( Mario Kart Tour )
  • DS Peach Gardens ( Mario Kart DS )
  • Tour Merry Mountain ( Mario Kart Tour )
  • 3DS Rainbow Road ( Mario Kart 7 )

The addition of Mario Kart 7 ’s Rainbow Road means Mario Kart 8 Deluxe players will have four versions of the track to race on — the others hail from the Wii U game, the original Super NES game, and the Nintendo 64 Rainbow Road.

The previous wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe ’s Booster Course Pass DLC was released in August. Wave 1 of the Booster Course Pass DLC launched in March , and brought eight remastered courses to the game: Wii Coconut Mall, N64 Choco Mountain, 3DS Toad Circuit, DS Shroom Ridge, and GBA Sky Garden, plus Ninja Hideaway, Paris Promenade and Tokyo Blur from Mario Kart Tour . The final three waves of courses are planned for release through 2023.

The Booster Course Pass costs $24.99 and can be purchased from the Nintendo eShop. The pass also comes included in the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack which costs $49.99 a year for an individual, or $79.99 a year for a family plan.

Mario Kart 7 [ edit ]

Course layout [ edit ].

Mario drives through Toad Circuit in Mario Kart 7.

The course is a simple circuit with few obstacles, as it is the first course in the game and is thus comparable to Luigi Circuit in previous installments. Giant mushrooms are seen through out the track in different sizes and three large balloons of Toads (red, blue, and yellow) are floating along the track as well. Banners of Toad himself can be seen throughout the course with the accompanying Mario Kart logo. The track begins on a long straightaway that is partially suspended over another part of the track. It is followed by a prolonged turn, before straightening out and crossing under the first part of the track. There is a brief split around the poles holding up the bridge, with Dash Panels along each side and traffic cones positioned between them. After 40 seconds pass, a ramp rises from the ground in front of the bridge, allowing the player to use their glider and spar over it (though they are counted out-of-bounds if they land on it). Then there is a tunnel that curves left, a right turn, a more gradual left turn, and then a big curve where lots of coins can be collected before crossing the finish line to start the next lap.

There is a pair of toadstools displayed on the touch screen map that are not present in the actual course itself; these were restored when the course was remade for Mario Kart Tour .

Shortcuts [ edit ]

  • After the tunnel, there is a ramp in a sand pit, where the player needs a Mushroom to cross. Also, after the ramp and inside the final turn, there is a dirt area with pipes that the player can cross by using a Mushroom. The player can also cut the first turn using three Mushrooms.

Glitches [ edit ]

There is an Item Box glitch in this course in Mario Kart 7 . It involves using the Glide Ramp which is accessible on laps 2 and 3. The player should glide to the right, where there is a row of Item Boxes on the bridge, and swoop down to collect one without going too close to the road and being counted out of bounds. When the player does this, the game will assume for a fraction of a second that the player is all the way back at the bridge and thus momentarily changes their placement to last (unless another player is even further behind). By quickly returning to the track after the bridge, and not flying towards the Toad balloon on the right (which will also count the player out of bounds), a player in any position can therefore hold very good items. [2]

Mario Kart Tour [ edit ]

Toad Circuit makes its classic course debut in Mario Kart Tour , starting with the New York Tour . The course is played for the tutorial, and when an update is being downloaded. This effectively makes Toad Circuit the flagship course of the game, as players can drive around it in every tour, even when it does not appear in one. In the version that can be played when downloading updates, there are ramps before the tunnel. Other than graphical improvements, the course remains almost the same as its original appearance.

The course also appears as Toad Circuit R (reversed), Toad Circuit T (with ramps), and Toad Circuit R/T (reversed with ramps). The former two debuted alongside the base variant in the New York Tour, while the latter debuted in the 2020 New Year's Tour . In the R variant, two Goombas and many dash panels appear on the track. In the T and R/T variants, many small pipes appear along the track as ramps.

Appearances [ edit ]

For this course's tour appearances, see List of 3DS Toad Circuit tour appearances in Mario Kart Tour .

Top-tier and middle-tier items [ edit ]

Select "show" to reveal the drivers, karts, and gliders for which 3DS Toad Circuit and its variants are always favored or favorite courses . For instances in which additional drivers, karts, and gliders temporarily had this course and its variants as favored or favorite courses, see List of 3DS Toad Circuit tour appearances in Mario Kart Tour .

Bonus challenges [ edit ]

Mario kart 8 deluxe [ edit ].

Toad Circuit makes its home console debut in the Booster Course Pass DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as the second course of the Golden Dash Cup . It is largely identical to its appearance in Mario Kart Tour , except there are now Mario Kart TV trucks in the off-road areas, and certain aesthetic details have been updated, with the Toad balloons having their hands fully modeled and the Mario Kart logos on the signs throughout the track being rendered in 3D instead of being flat textures. There are also now tires in some offroad sections that can be hit, much like in GBA Mario Circuit .

As with all other courses from Wave 1, this course's icon and lighting were adjusted slightly in the 2.1.0 update.
