Queens Landing is the premier entertainment venue  set alongside beautiful Lake Norman. We are a fun destination, providing sightseeing and dinner cruises, banquet rooms, wedding venues, boat rentals, lakeside patio, live music, weekend concerts and more!

Queens Landing/Lake Cruises, Inc. was established in 1991 and is anchored by its primary attraction: the “Catawba Queen”.    A custom-designed replica of a Mississippi riverboat, the “Catawba Queen” was a “one boat show” offering cruises for sightseeing as well as for lunches and elegant dinner outings. Later, in 1998, a second riverboat, the “Catawba Belle” joined the family. Decorated to Mrs. Jack William’s specifications and taste, the Catawba Belle was graceful and stunning to all who road it until 2005 when it was retired to Arkansas and renamed “Miss Liberty”.    And, in that same year the “Lady of the Lake”, a 90-foot luxury yacht took its place.

The Catawba Queen and Lady of the Lake are the only boats of their kind on Lake Norman that are Coast Guard certified making them sturdy enough to charter even the coastline.

Book Online with BOOK NOW! Choose/Select the tour date and time and number of guests (min of 4). Credit card checkout using our secure booking software. You will receive an email or text message with your confirmation. OR you can use the QR Code available that will take you directly to our booking and website. You can call us to book by phone or you have questions at 941-500-2990

All tours are private, we do not pair or share you with another group. Your tour is PRIVATE and is just you, and your guests. We have a minimum of 4 guests and a maximum of 12 guest and you, the “charterer”.

We tour 7 days per week weather permitting. Our Captains determine if a tour needs to be cancelled due to weather or mechanical issues that may arise. You will be properly notified. Some Holidays will be excluded for tours.

Each day tour offered is 90 minutes and Sunset is 2 hours. Custom tours always welcome but must be scheduled in advance.

Day Tours: $39.95 per guest – 11am- 1pm- 3pm- 5pm (90 min) Sunset: $59.95 per guest – 7:00-9:00pm Choose your date/time and number of passengers for your tour. After you book if you need to add more folks, you can make changes simply by giving us a call. NOTE: Hours change during daylight savings time. All hours and pricing are subject to change at any time.

Cancellations must be made 72- hours in advance to receive a full refund or reschedule. Cancellations made after this 72-hour window will be non-refundable, Same day bookings are also final sales and non-refundable to include but not limited to you arriving under the influence of alcohol or drugs or arrive later than scheduled departure time, and not having a valid government photo identification. No shows and personal emergency will be treated as non-refundable.

Reschedules made before 72-hours can call 941-500-2990 or email at [email protected] with the new date/time for a rescheduled tour, and we will do our best to make those changes. We would be happy to apply your credit to gift cards for future tours.

Dress for fun! Probably not a good idea to wear those red sole Jimmy Choo sandals, but everyday flip flops or sandals are perfect. Watch out for water/splashes, the floor might get wet. Dress for comfort and remember it can get chilly so grab a jacket, especially in the evening. WEATHER: We keep a close eye on the forecast and will determine if the weather is to nasty for your tour. A little rain may not stop us but certainly lightening or severe climate will. We are here to help you have a lot of fun. Your Captain will reach out to your with updates.

Yes, you can bring your own Food and Beverages (yes alcohol is okay). NOTE: If you look younger than thirty years of age, have your ID ready to be checked by the Captain. We have guests that order online from Publix in the catering section and pickup the food to bring on the tiki boat, it is that easy, and very yummy. We provide plenty of ice in the coolers, and bottled water, so bring your snacks, appetizers and the beverages of choice

Yes, we have a clean private restroom for your convenience. This is a big plus! No need to wait, we’ve got you covered.

Yes. Our Tiki boat is equipped with a Bluetooth Audio system that can play music from your phone or ours. We have a huge selection of music available. Let’s not forget we have Karaoke music and microphones for you singers, along with our Disco Ball, Tambourines, and more. We say there is no such thing as a bad singer, just not perfect.

No, We have a strict nonsmoking/vaping policy on the boat for fire safety purpose and insurance.

We too love dogs, but unfortunately, we do not recommend bringing your dog, unless it is a certified service dog has a valid certification which will be required and checked by the Captain. Are Children Allowed? We love children and are family friendly, so yes kids are allowed. We require kids 5 and under to wear their USCG life vest/jacket and recommend they have their own. Many young children don’t enjoy the tours much, 90 minutes can seem like forever for them. For their safety, children need to stay seated and not walk around during the tour.

A US Coast Guard certified captain is available for all tours. We have a list of vetted and qualified captains that are experienced and Red Cross trained for medical emergencies, and very knowledgeable of Charlotte Harbor.

Yes, yes, yes, we encourage a 20% or more tip for the captain and crew. The captains do not own the vessel and most captains are seasonal and appreciate the tips.

If your loved one has been cremated, and you would like to have a celebration of life onboard and sprinkle the ash in the water, that is a service we offer. We will mark the location on your map if you would like to return back to the site.

I attended the brunch cruise on Easter Sunday aboard the Lady of the Lake yacht on Lake Norman in Mooresville, NC. It was such an amazing experience! The brunch food was excellent! The cocktails were amazing! I ate indoors on the yacht with amazing views of the lake and lots of boats in the water...sail boats, speed boats, catamarans, etc. The Captain of the yacht, the servers, the cooks and bartenders were extremely nice and accommodating! I will be doing this again! I'll likely try the dinner cruise with live entertainment.

We took the sunset cruise and let me just say the service from the workers was absolutely wonderful. The drinks were great and affordable. Views as you can see in the pictures were great. Would definitely recommend everyone try this at least once while in Hawaii

Lady of The Lake. This experience was everything! Well worth the money. Beautiful place. The food was well seasoned and delicious. The staff was nice and professional. Especially our bartender Thomas he rocks and make awesome drinks. The only bad thing I can say is the music was only geared towards the really older crowd and I'm 51. But there was not a good mix of music for everyone. And alot of real slow music no upbeat music.But the ride was stunning. We will do again.

A great place for a day out on the lake. I did the Easter brunch ride on lady of the lake and it was amazing. Food was delicious, drinks were wonderful and the whole atmosphere was fantastic. Great customer service as well. We had the perfect weather too so it worked out completely. Highly recommend doing one of their tours.

NC swim classes fill as drowning deaths rise nationally

CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) – Broad River Greenway officials ask swimmers to take extra caution in the water following the drowning of a 10-year-old girl near Shelby this weekend.

Officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said drowning deaths are on the rise for the first time in a decade.

Several bystanders jumped into the water to save the group of three girls struggling in the water Saturday evening.

Experts in swim instruction at Aqua-Tots Swim School say that those actions from people not trained in water rescues are risky.

“If you are comfortable in the water, but you’re not someone that has practiced rescues before, especially in lakes or somewhere that has a current, it’s very easy in a stressful situation to kind of end up in that predicament yourself,” said Keina Gularte, general manager of Aqua-Tots Ballantyne.

Gularte said adult supervision from the shore might not be enough to protect swimmers when it comes to rivers and creeks. She compared the dangers in the unpredictable flow of water to the dangers in the flow of traffic on a highway.

“There are cars coming and going. There are rushes of people on the highway and that’s a very dangerous and unpredictable environment. Thinking of the pool, or bodies of water, as that highway and making sure we’re understanding, there could be currents in here or there’s unexpected things that might come up,” she said. “Stay vigilant because you wouldn’t let your child just roam free on the highway and a pool or what body of water can be very similar to that.”

Instructors teach swimmers to remain calm and float, not fight the current.

They hope swimmers of all ages understand the basics of drowning prevention.

A Charlotte man in his late 20s drowned near the same stretch of Broad River in 2021, and a man in his 30s drowned two years prior.

ATLANTA ( WANF /Gray News) - Loretta Cox is back home and reunited with her family after a medical emergency while overseas led to her being in a coma in the Dominican Republic.

It was thanks to the community’s help she could be medically flown back to the United States.

“It was amazing to see it and to live to tell it — the love that people had shown,” said Cox. “I got to my driveway and I started crying. I couldn’t get out of the car without crying, because I was just so overjoyed that I was home.”

She had a terrifying ordeal on what should have been a dream vacation.

While on a Carnival cruise to the Bahamas a few weeks ago, she said she had been enjoying her evening, when she suddenly felt like she needed to lie down.

“As I was headed to my room, I was getting short of breath,” she said.

Since she has asthma, she thought she may just need her inhaler. All she remembered were two teens calling the medic and a woman assisting her before it went dark.

“Because her lungs filled up with fluid, her lungs collapsed, and that’s why she had to be placed on a ventilator,” said her daughter, Aldes Brooks.

Cox was taken to the nearest hospital in the Dominican Republic, where she stayed for two days in a coma in the intensive care unit.

“It was a money game,” said Brooks. “It was like we were paying a ransom to keep our mother alive.”

The total cost for those two days, she said, was about $50,000.

Word spread quickly, through social media and word of mouth, that her mother needed help, and in just 24 hours, community members donated the roughly $25,000 needed for a medical air transport back to the United States.

“It was friends. It was family. It was church members. It was strangers, people who had seen her at Walmart!” Brooks said.

Cox was treated at Broward Health in Fort Lauderdale for about a week when she finally woke up, her husband by her side.

“I was so happy to see a familiar face when I woke up!” she said.

Cox said she is beyond grateful to the people who helped her and gave her the precious gift of time with her children and grandchildren.

“Thank you,” she said. “Cherish each day you have. Cherish it.”

She is now undergoing testing at Emory to figure out what caused the fluid buildup in her lungs that day.

Brooks said they had to pay out-of-pocket because her mother did not have medical travel insurance.

They now advise, whether going on a cruise or traveling in general, to purchase it and look up what all it includes.

They also encourage people traveling to places where you do not necessarily need a passport, like the Bahamas, to get one anyway.

Cox said she would have had a much harder time getting back into the U.S. from the Dominican Republic without it.

She’s getting settled back in LaGrange and feeling much better.

There is an online fundraiser for those who still want to help donate to her medical expenses.

4 road trips you can take from Charlotte, North Carolina

There's a lot to love about Charlotte, North Carolina. While I no longer live there, I was always finding new hidden gems when I did call the city home.

Summertime is a fantastic time for a road trip, with the windows down for some fresh air and your favorite Spotify playlist turned up. Today, I'm walking through four underrated spots within a four-hour drive from Charlotte.

1. Looking for a mountain escape? Try Boone, North Carolina

Driving time: Two hours

If you're looking for a mountain getaway, Boone is an excellent choice. It's a short two-hour drive from Charlotte, and it has pretty much everything you could want from a quiet weekend getaway.

You can go hiking , kayaking, fishing and zip lining. I especially love float trips with friends in the summer. Boone is also home to Grandfather Mountain and Mile High Swinging Bridge — the highest suspension footbridge in America.

Boone is also a great spot in the fall and winter. Toward the end of September and into October, the leaves in the mountains turn beautiful shades of yellow, orange and red. Since it's in the Blue Ridge Mountains, it's also perfect for skiers and snowboarders looking for a closer getaway than western spots like Vail .

2. Need a relaxing beach weekend? Check out Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina

Driving time: Three and a half hours

When you think of Carolina beaches, your first thought is probably Myrtle Beach. Or, if you watch as much Netflix as I did throughout the pandemic, the Outer Banks . While those are popular spots, I've always been a bigger fan of Wrightsville Beach. The water is cleaner and the beaches a little less crowded than Myrtle, and it's a much closer drive than the Outer Banks.

There are plenty of places to rent right on the beach. However, with Wilmington just a few miles away and plenty of public access points, you can also find lodging in town without sacrificing beach access. Those interested in WWII history can also explore the Battleship North Carolina, docked along the Cape Fear River.

Pack a small cooler with fruit, sandwiches and ice-cold drinks, and spend a long weekend enjoying the sunshine and waves.

3. Interested in unique breweries? Hit up Asheville, North Carolina

Driving time: Two hours and 15 minutes

Fun fact: Asheville has the most breweries per capita in the U.S. However, this mountain town has a lot more to offer than just the great beer scene (though if you're in town, I highly recommend getting a flight at Wicked Weed Brewing — high praise coming from someone who doesn't even like beer that much).

You'll find plenty of unique shops to visit downtown — including one of my favorite independent book stores, Firestorm Books & Coffee. If you're into art, the River Arts District houses artist studios in former factory buildings while downtown is home to beautiful architecture and plenty of galleries to visit. While there's now a White Duck Taco Shop location in Charlotte, I still highly recommend stopping at the downtown Asheville location.

Asheville is also where to find Biltmore , the historic family estate of the Vanderbilts and America's largest home. The 8,000-acre house and grounds offer a full day, or more, of fun, including a winery, gardens, historical sites, a spa and a village to explore.

4. Want to play a round? Visit Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Driving time : Three hours and 45 minutes

Another coastal getaway on this list is Hilton Head Island , home to more than two dozen championship golf courses. Casual golfers can play a round, amateurs looking to improve their swing can check out a class and PGA fans can time a trip to watch a tournament.

Of course, there's more than just golfing at Hilton Head. There are several family-friendly parks, playgrounds and beaches. Renting bikes and kayaks are also popular ways to explore the island and its waterways.

Hilton Head is also the most points-friendly destination on this list. The Marriott Hilton Head or Westin Hilton Head Resort and Spa are both bookable with Marriott Bonvoy points . There's also Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, though it's typically harder to find availability.

Bottom line

All of these spots are great options for a nearby getaway if you live in Charlotte or the surrounding areas. I no longer live in the area, but I still plan to revisit a few of these spots in the next year when I'm in North Carolina for a visit.
