Ultimate Tips for Visiting Disneyland Paris on a Budget

Disneyland Paris is a magical place however it is not a cheap place. In this guide we round up our best tips for visiting Disneyland Paris on a Budget so Disney is both the happiest place on earth for you and your wallet by covering tips from best places to book and when to book to how to actually save money in Disneyland Paris Parks.

Table of Contents

1. Check all the Countries Websites

I actually discovered this tip accidentally when I was using a VPN on my computer and was redirected to another country’s website. I was shocked to discover that the prices were cheaper than I was getting shown on the UK website.

Visiting Disneyland Paris on a budget - how to save money at Disneyland Paris

Apparently you can use this system even if you want to book via telephone and just quote the price and the website you saw it on. I however haven’t tried this myself as I always do all of my bookings online.

Be sure to Check Package Deals – just in case

It is rare but very occasionally you can find a package deal that would be cheaper than if you booked all the component parts of your trip separately. I would say 9 times out of 10 the booking everything yourself is much cheaper but it is worth having a quick scan just to check as you may find something surprising.

I can’t stress this enough – the earlier you book the better deal you are going to get. Flights, transport and accommodation will get more expensive the closer you get to your travel date. As someone who booked their last trip to Disney with less than a month’s notice I can tell you this from first hand experience and recommend that you don’t follow our example.

Travel in the Off-Peak Season

Crowds at Disneyland Paris - Travel Off Peak to save money at Disneyland Paris

Wherever I am travelling in the world one of the things I always consider is travelling off peak. Off peaks is often cheaper and less crowded so is a win win. Off peak travel to Disneyland Paris is definitely going to save you money but the queues will also be far less. Its a win win.

If you are can’t travel in the true off peak season be sure to try and avoid the school holidays and the weekends as these will be the most expensive and crowded times.

Top tip : Don’t just think about your countries school holiday dates. France, Spain, UK, Germany etc will all have slightly different. Try and avoid all or as many as you can whenever you travel to Disneyland Paris.

How to Get to Disneyland Paris on a Budget

Depending on where you are coming from will depend on how to get to Disneyland Paris on a budget. If you are in Europe like we are now, driving is likely to be the cheapest option. This is what we did when we were travelling to Disneyland Paris from Amsterdam with our  toddler and  it was way cheaper for us than the train or the plane option.

However if you are travelling to Disneyland Paris from the UK or Ireland then you should definitely be shopping around to find out what is the best way to get to Disneyland Paris on a Budget. If you are travelling to Disneyland Paris from the UK then you should be considering:

  • Flying
  • Car and Ferry Crossing
  • Coach Travel

How to Get to Disneyland Paris on a Budget via Eurostar

Eurostar is definitely worth considering if you are travelling to Disneyland Paris from London or its vicinity. If you are considering taking the Eurostar then my top tip is to get this booked early as you are more likely to get cheaper tickets the earlier you buy. Last minute booking will see a surge in pricing

Another top top for travelling to Disneyland Paris on a budget via Eurostar is to get off the train at Paris Gare du Nord rather than booking directly into Disneyland Paris. Booking into Disneyland Paris is definitely more convenient as it means you won’t have to change however it will definitely add a fair bit onto your fare. Changing at Gare du Nord onto local transport. It will add just over an hour to your journey time but will save a lot more money.

For more Disneyland Paris Hacks including how to get from Gare Du Nord to Disneyland Paris  and how to get from Charles de Gaulle to Disneyland Paris check out these post.

How to Get to Disneyland Paris on a Budget If you are Flying or taking the ferry

Flying versus ferry versus Eurostar for cheapest way to get from Disneyland Paris really depends on when you are travelling, how far out you are booking etc. My tips for finding the cheapest method for all of these is book early and if you see a deal fare price book it.

However be sure to compare all methods before you book. We use Skyscanner to compare flight costs , but be sure to have the ferry prices and Eurostar prices open at the same time so you can work out what is actually the cheapest method.

If you are using any form of public transport or flying be sure to factor in the costs of getting to the station or airport (i.e. public transport or will you need to book a taxi because of very early/late flight times etc).

Consider buying an annual pass

This is another one that may have you raising your eyebrow about but bear with me. The cost of a Disneyland Paris annual passes are actually not as expensive as you would expect.

There are actually four levels of annual pass for Disneyland Paris. The Disneyland annual passes are:

  • Magic Flex
  • Magic Plus
  • Infinity

Discover is the cheapest and Infinity is the most expensive. One of the things to watch out for in annual passes is their validity as although they say annual not all passes are truly annual and have some black dates.

However if you are not travelling on one of the black out dates and are travelling a minimum of 3 but definitely 4 days in the park the annual pass will save you money. The annual pass is definitely value if you are spending 4 days in the park and could be if you are spending 3 days in the park but also plan to spend money on food and gifts in the parks then it could also be a saving.

For more information on planning your trip to Disneyland Paris in general check out this post.

If Not Be Sure to Book Your Tickets Online in Advance

If the annual pass doesn’t work as a cost saving to you be sure to book your tickets online in advance. Booking online in advance will save you time when you arrive on site (the queues for the on the day tickets can be massive) and also can save you a lot of money.

I usually recommend booking directly with Disney however it is also worth checking the prices with the following online retailers as you may find a bargain:

  • Viator Disneyland Paris Tickets
  • Get Your Guide Disneyland Paris Tickets
  • Klook Disneyland Paris Tickets.

Stay off-site

There are lots of benefits to staying on-site at Disneyland Paris. You are in really easy walking distance or have a free shuttle into the park. You also get Early Magic Hours (EMH) which basically lets you into the park before the guests staying off site so you can get a lot of the big ticket items done before they get their big queues (i.e. meeting the Princesses in the Princess Pavilion or get on Buzz Lightyear’s Laser Blast). However staying on site comes with a heftier price tag.

If you are looking to travel to Disneyland Paris on a budget then I would recommend not staying on site but instead looking at the accommodation options in Val D’Europe. This is where we stayed on our last trip and it was very convenient. We were one train stop away from the park and our accommodation was a lot cheaper.

We stayed at he Ibis Budget on our last stay and it was basic but we only used to sleep and shower in. It was also exceptionally cheap at less than 90 euros a night for our family. If you are looking to save money at Disneyland Paris then I would recommend looking at the Ibis Budget in Val D’Europe as a great money saver.

You can check reviews and pries for the Ibis Budget here!

There are also Airbnbs and apart hotels available should you want to cater yourself. Val D’Europe is next to the train station and literally takes minutes to get to the park nd is a great option for families visiting Disneyland Paris on a budget.

You can look at reviews for hotels in Val D’Europe here.

I also loved staying at Val D’Europe as well because of the amenities nearby. My favourite was the hypermarket Auchan. This was a great place as we could stock up on snacks and drinks which leads me to my next tip.

Take Food into Disneyland Paris

Disney Food - How to Save Money at Disneyland Paris - Visiting Disneyland Paris on a Budget

For some reason when I was looking online there seemed to be a bit of myth that you can’t take food into Disneyland Paris. This is not true. They do not let you take large hampers or coolers into the park with you but you absolutely can take food into the park.

We found the best food to take into Disneyland Paris to be things that don’t spoil and we use Snack Bags to carry food into the park with us. We had peanut butter sandwiches, Ella’s kitchen pouches, cereal bars and of course drinks.

Drinks and especially water in the park is pricey and if you are travelling during summer you will need a lot of it. Be sure to take with you a collapsible water bottle and refill it at the water stations around the park. This will save you a fair few pennies.

If you or your kids don’t like water, take one of those squeeze concentrate squash  with you to add some flavour into the water and problem solved!

If you do decide to eat the park then the most budget places are the self service restaurants. We ate at Colonel Hathi’s restaurant which was fine, nothing exceptional but cost 15 euros for a meal per adult so it definitely does add up. For a complete breakdown of the cheapest ways to eat Disneyland Paris check out this post. And if you are vegan at Disneyland Paris then check out this guide.

Buy Costumes and Theme T Shirts in Advance

Ultimate Disneyland Paris Tips and Tricks for a PERFECT trip - character meetings and parades

The reaction of Ariel in the parade to see her in her costume

Kids love dressing up to meet their favourite characters and I found that you actually get better interaction during the meeting and also during the parades if you are wearing merchandise relating to a certain character. Costumes and even t shirts are expensive on site so be sure to take your Disney costumes and clothes with you.

We found the cheapest place to buy Themed T-Shirts  for your trip to be Primark. They have a contract with Disney so have loads of merchandise that will be perfect whatever time of year your visit Disneyland Paris.

And while Primark was the cheapest I found for actual clothing, the cheapest place I found for actual Costumes for kids was online at Amazon.co.uk.

Also be sure to grab a pair of Mickey or Minnie Mouse Disney Ears  for the entire family. These seem to be the most popular accessory at the park and I guarantee that your kids are going to want them. Buying these online in advance again will be much cheaper and also look great in your Disneyland Paris Photos!

For more tips on what to wear to Disneyland Paris check out this post.

Also if you prioritising character meetings on your Disneyland Paris Bucket list chances are you will be wanting to get the character autographs. Autograph books in the park are quite pricey so be sure to pack you Disney Autograph Book    and take it with you.

Flights and Trains

For international visitors, flying into Paris is often the most common way to reach Disneyland Paris. To find budget-friendly airfares, using SkyScanner is highly recommended.

It’s an excellent platform for comparing prices across various airlines, ensuring you get the best deal available. By booking your flights well in advance and considering budget airlines, significant savings can be achieved.

Once in Paris, the most cost-effective way to reach Disneyland Paris is by RER train. The RER A train runs directly from the city center to Disneyland Paris, offering both convenience and affordability for travelers.

Local Transportation

For those already in Europe, taking a train to Paris can be a budget-friendly alternative to flying. If you’re coming from London, consider taking the Eurostar to Disneyland Paris.

Using Trainline is an excellent choice for booking train tickets. It’s a user-friendly platform that offers great deals and simplifies the process of comparing prices across different rail providers, making it easier to find the most budget-friendly options.

Once in the city, the RER trains are your best bet for getting to Disneyland Paris efficiently and affordably. For group travelers, renting a car might be more economical, providing flexibility and potentially reducing travel costs.

Budget-Friendly Tips for Inside the Park

Eating at Disneyland Paris on a Budget

Dining in Disneyland Paris can be one of the larger expenses, but there are ways to eat well without overspending.

Bringing your own snacks and refillable water bottles can save a significant amount over purchasing similar items in the park. For meals, consider the counter-service restaurants, which offer more affordable options than sit-down dining.

Look out for meal combos, which often include a main, side, and drink at a lower price than buying these items separately.

Another tip is to have a substantial breakfast before entering the park, reducing the need for a large, expensive lunch.

Smart Souvenir Shopping

When souvenir shopping at Disneyland Paris, set a clear budget to avoid impulse purchases and focus on unique items specific to the park for more memorable keepsakes.

Prices can vary between shops, so compare before buying and consider visiting the Disney Village for potentially lower prices and a less crowded experience.

Look out for seasonal sales and special promotions, which can offer great deals. For a more budget-friendly approach, small items like postcards or keychains can be delightful and affordable.

Alternatively, collect free memorabilia like park maps and tickets to create a personalized scrapbook of your visit, a creative and cost-effective way to preserve your memories.

Maximizing Ride and Attraction Experiences

To get the most out of your visit without extra expenses like FastPasses, strategic planning is essential.

Use the Disneyland Paris app to check wait times and plan your route through the park, targeting popular attractions during typically less busy times, like during parades or in the evening.

Make use of Extra Magic Hours if you’re staying at a Disney hotel, which allows early park access.

Additionally, consider visiting popular rides during meal times when lines are often shorter. Being flexible with your schedule can also pay off; sometimes, joining a longer line just before the park closes lets you enjoy a final ride with less wait.

Finally, don’t overlook the single rider lines available at certain attractions, as they can significantly reduce your waiting time.

Managing expectations, especially when visiting Disneyland Paris with children, is a crucial part of enjoying a budget-conscious trip.

Discuss the attractions and experiences that are most important to them, so you can prioritize these within your schedule and budget.

Finally, remind them (and yourself) that Disneyland is about making magical memories, which doesn’t always require spending money.

Prioritize character meet-and-greets, where memories are made with favorite Disney personalities.

Visiting Disneyland Paris on a budget

Plan ahead and set a budget.

Planning ahead and setting a budget are two important steps to take before visiting any destination, and this is especially true when it comes to visiting Disneyland Paris. The park offers a wide range of attractions, entertainment, and dining options, and having a plan and budget in place can help you make the most of your visit while avoiding overspending.

First, decide on the length of your stay and which attractions and experiences you want to prioritize. Disneyland Paris has two theme parks, so it’s important to plan which rides and shows you want to see in advance. Research the park’s website and look at the attraction list to help you prioritize.

Next, you want to set a realistic budget that includes transportation, accommodation, park tickets, food, and souvenirs. Be sure to factor in the cost of meals and snacks while at the park, as well as any souvenirs or merchandise you might want to purchase.

Before you start planning, check out this post on how to plan a trip on a budget . It will save you some time and money during the planning process.

Choose the Best Time to Visit

Choosing the best time to visit Disneyland Paris is important in order to maximize your enjoyment and avoid long lines and crowds. You’ll want to consider weather, school holidays, and special events while planning your trip.

One of the busiest times to visit Disneyland Paris is during the summer months, when schools are on break and families are taking vacations. If you have flexibility in your schedule, consider visiting during the off-season, which typically runs from January to March and from September to November. During this time, the park is typically less crowded and you may find better deals on accommodations and tickets.

We visited at the end of March and although it was cold and somewhat cloudy the parks were definitely not at capacity. There were of course still crowds, but it was much more manageable than during the busiest time of year.

You’ll also want to check the park’s calendar for any special events or seasonal offerings that may impact your visit. For example, the park hosts Halloween and Christmas celebrations that include special parades, shows, and decorations. These events can be popular and attract large crowds, so it’s important to plan accordingly.

Lastly, consider visiting the park on weekdays rather than weekends, as weekends tend to be busier with larger crowds. We visited on a Wednesday and Thursday, prices shot up during Friday-Sunday.

Don’t stay on Disney property and use public transportation

A TGV INOUI high-speed train at the station, its sleek design poised for departure.

First off, Disneyland Paris is not technically in Paris. It’s located outside of Paris in Chessy, France. We took the TGV high speed train from CDG airport to Chessy. It’s the first stop and takes about 12 mins. The ticket was 19 euros each.

Staying on Disney property can be a magical experience, but it can also be very expensive. Choosing to stay at a hotel or accommodation outside of the park can be a great way to save money during your visit to Disneyland Paris.

One great option is to stay in Val d’Europe, a nearby town that’s only one stop away from Disneyland Paris on the RER train. We chose to stay at the Moxy Paris Val d’Europe , a stylish Marriott property located only a five-minute walk from the train station. This option allowed us to save a lot of money, while still being close to the park.

A traveler at Val d'Europe train station, ready for adventure with luggage, exuding travel style and excitement.

The Moxy is not only affordable but also unique and trendy. Their check-in process takes place at the bar, and they even offer complimentary welcome drinks. The overall vibe and decor of the hotel are also really nice for it being so affordable.

If you’re considering staying outside of Disneyland Paris, make sure to look for accommodations near an RER train station. The RER train system provides direct access to Disneyland Paris from the Paris city center, with trains running frequently.

You may also want to consider purchasing a Navigo Pass , which provides unlimited access to public transportation throughout your stay in Paris. Make sure the pass is valid for the dates of your stay before purchasing. Choosing to stay outside of the park can be a great way to save money, without sacrificing convenience or comfort.

Bring Your Own Snacks and Drinks

When visiting theme parks, there are usually many food options available, but they can be expensive and add up quickly. Bringing your own snacks and drinks is a great way to save money while still enjoying your visit to the park.

At Disneyland Paris, the food may not meet the expectations if you are used to the food at Walt Disney World. However, there are some good options available, such as a quick service spot on Main Street that serves decent sandwiches and salads.

Entrance to the Pym Kitchen restaurant with intricate designs and the Avengers logo, inviting guests to dine.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed when we tried the sit-down buffet-style Pym Kitchen in the Avengers Campus at Walt Disney Studios Park. The food was either not appetizing or too Americanized (American food should not exist outside of America), and it was quite expensive. If you’ve already been to the Pym Kitchen in California Adventure, you should skip this one.

To save money, it’s best to bring your own snacks, such as fruit, granola bars, sandwiches, and crackers. However, there are some restrictions on outside food and drinks within the park, such as glass containers and alcoholic beverages, so it’s important to check the park’s policies before bringing anything in.

A delightful Disney-themed dessert paired with a glass of beer on a table at Disneyland Paris.

Don’t Overdo Souvenir Shopping

I know that it’s tempting to buy a bunch of souvenirs when visiting at Disney park, but this can easily add up since of course everything is super expensive.

To avoid overspending on souvenirs, I’d recommend setting a budget for yourself before your trip and stick to it. Maybe restrict yourself to one big purchase and one small purchase for the trip. But don’t go buying stuff that you can get at any Disney park.

Before your trip, check out what they have on Shop Disney. You may be able to find some stuff on sale and pay through a shopping portal like Rakuten or Topcashback to save some money by getting cash back.

Essentials for Disneyland Paris

When visiting Disneyland Paris, you should be prepared with the right essentials to make your trip as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. Here are some must-have items to pack for your visit:

Comfortable Shoes – You’ll be doing a lot of walking and standing, so wear comfortable shoes.

Weather-Appropriate Clothing – Check the weather forecast before your trip and pack a poncho in the case of rain. I also like to bring extra socks, sweats and undies in case I get wet on a ride.

Sun Protection – the worst is coming home with a sunburn from standing in the sun all day.

Backpack or Bag – Bring a reasonably sized backpack or bag to carry your stuff, such as snacks, drinks, and souvenirs.

Phone Charger – Phone batteries die fast at theme park even if you think you won’t be using it that much. So, bring a portable charger or extra charging cable.

Cash or Credit Card – You won’t need a lot of cash as pretty much every place in the park will take credit card, but it’s good to have some on hand in case your card does not go through. You won’t need to pay to use any of the toilettes on Disney property.

Is Disneyland Paris as good as Florida ?

As an annual pass holder for Walt Disney World in Florida, I will say that Disneyland Paris is absolutely not as good as Florida.

But with that being said, it’s not fair to compare. Both Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World in Florida offer unique experiences and have their own charm.

Walt Disney World in Florida is significantly larger than Disneyland Paris, with four theme parks, two water parks, and a plethora of other attractions and activities. The sheer size and scale of Walt Disney World are pretty overwhelming, but it also means that there is a lot more to see and do.

Although Disneyland Paris may not have as many attractions as Walt Disney World, its smaller size and more compact layout can make it feel more manageable and easier to navigate. Additionally, the park’s blend of European and American influences creates a unique atmosphere that sets it apart from other Disney parks.

Ultimately, whether Disneyland Paris is as good as Walt Disney World in Florida depends on what you’re looking for. You’ll find attractions at Disneyland Paris that you won’t find at Walt Disney World in Florida and vice versa.

But do yourself a favor and don’t compare Disneyland Paris to Walt Disney World in Florida. You’re just setting yourself up for failure.

Is Disneyland Paris cheaper than Florida ?

The cost of visiting Disneyland Paris versus Disney World in Florida can vary depending on several factors, such as travel dates, the type of tickets purchased, accommodation choices, and dining options.

Compared to Disney World in Florida, Disneyland Paris generally tends to be less expensive. This is in part due to its smaller size and fewer parks and attractions, which can result in lower ticket prices and other costs.

However, it’s important to note that Disneyland Paris has fewer on-property accommodations, which can make lodging costs more expensive compared to some options at Walt Disney World in Florida.

But as we’ll discuss in this post, there are ways to get around how expensive Disneyland Paris can be.

Is one day enough for Disneyland Paris

Figuring out whether one day is enough for Disneyland Paris largely depends on your individual plans for the trip. If you’re primarily interested in experiencing the attractions unique to Disneyland Paris, you may be able to fit everything into one day.

However, if you’re looking to fully immerse yourself in the park’s atmosphere, enjoy the various shows, and take your time exploring, you may want to consider extending your trip. We did both Disneyland Paris parks in one day and honestly, that was more than enough for me (I was ready to explore more of France), but again we’re annual passholders for Walt Disney World so that was a huge factor.

The enchanting interior of Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Disneyland Paris, with guests exploring the ornate surroundings.

Is Disneyland Paris worth a trip ?

If you’re a Disney fan and have ambitions to visit all the parks around the world, then Disneyland Paris is definitely worth the trip.

For those who haven’t had the opportunity to visit Disney parks in the U.S., Disneyland Paris is also worth the trip.

But if you have been to the parks in the U.S. and are hoping for a similar experience at Disneyland Paris, you may be disappointed. In this case, it may be best to skip the park, particularly if you have limited time to explore Paris and France.

If I could do it again, I would purchase a one-park ticket to the Disneyland Park to see the iconic castle and enjoy the spectacular fireworks and light show. The castle is stunning and I loved that you can walk around inside. Plus, there’s a dragon underneath the castle, which is also fun.

However, the Walt Disney Studios park may not be worth a visit, especially if you’ve already experienced the Avengers campus in California Adventure. Ultimately, it’s important to manage expectations and prioritize the experiences that are most important to you.

Buy an annual pass

Don’t buy the meal plan, bring snacks, buy disney ears before you go, choose a budget friendly hotel, be flexible with your dates, book travel separately, avoid premier access.

  • Don’t get carried away

Are you planning a trip to Disneyland Paris?

Planning a trip to Disneyland Paris can be overwhelming, especially for a first timer. If you’re at the start of your planning and soaking in as much Disney knowledge as possible you may be asking yourself “ is Disneyland Paris worth it? ”. If you’re travelling with kids for the first time you’ll want to soak up all of the Disneyland Paris hints, tips and tricks .

That’s why we’ve pulled together some of our most popular Disneyland Paris posts to help you plan your Disney trip. Whether you’re trying to visit two parks in one day or planning a longer stay at an onsite Disney hotel we can help you.

10 Tips on the Best Way To Do Disneyland Paris on a Budget

The cheapest time to book a trip to Disneyland Paris, especially if you’re booking through their site directly, is as soon as the new dates are released. We’ve made the mistake of waiting before and the prices started steadily increasing before jumping quite considerably.

For one visit this may not actually save you any money, but if you’re planning on going a few times throughout the year then an annual pass for Disneyland Paris is definitely the way to do it and save money. A one day ticket will set you back on anywhere from €87 for one adult, whereas an annual pass for one adult starts from €289. This means that if you’re buying park tickets for more than 3 days an annual pass will save you money.

We never buy a meal plan and there’s a few reasons for this decision,

  • We know we’re not going to be able to eat enough to make the cost worth it at the buffets, especially when we’re all tired and really just want something quick. Even if your kids eat loads at home (mine do) you’ll find that when you’re at Disney time moves so quick and you’re busy moving around the park that you don’t get as hungry or think about food as much.
  • Sitting down to a few courses or full buffet may take an hour or two, this takes away riding time and that’s the main reason we’re visiting Disneyland.
  • By having several snacks throughout the day we get to experience so much more of the fun and interesting snacks on offer at Disney. We can do it on our timeline, eat when we want and don’t have to stop as often.
  • Of course, the main reason is that it’s cheaper! A full board meal plan for one day is £90.85 for an adult and £54.51 for a child. This is £872.16 for a family of four over 3 days in the park. We spend far less on food and still have breakfast, lunch and dinner with many snacks in between!

While it’s fun and tasty to buy Disney themed snacks while you’re there, this can very quickly add up to ask astronomical amount. Take some time to jump on the metro to a local supermarket and stick up on snacks and treats to save yourself some money.

Disney souvenirs aren’t cheaper at Disneyland Paris, there’s just more variety. To save some money keep an eye out for deals and buy your Disney ears and costumes before you travel.

Visiting Disneyland Paris on a budget is absolutely possible with some careful planning and savvy choices. The tickets are unfortunately going to be pricey, but we have some tips to ensure you get the best possible price.

In this guide we’ll walk you through the essential tips and tricks for visiting Disneyland Paris on a budget. From choosing the right accommodation to deciding how you’re going to get there, we’ve got you covered.

Getting to Paris

Your choice of transportation can significantly impact your overall budget. We have now added Disneyland Paris to our websites search feature. This has been incredibly popular and makes your trip planning super easy.

Use our “ Start your Journey ” feature to input your departing airports. Select “Disneyland Paris” in the specific location. At the date section search broadly by month or input a specific period of time you can travel. You could, for example, select all the long weekends in a particular month and say you want a 3 night stay. We will then find you the best value flights to the appropriate airports. As well as this we source some well rated accommodation in great locations.

Flying into CDG Airport:

The most convenient airport to fly into is going to be Paris CDG. From here you can easily get the TGV fast train straight to the park. The train will drop you off at Marne-la-Vallée Chessy station which is a few minutes walk away from the park. From here you can easily get the train to the area I am going to recommend you stay, Val D’Europe. It is best to purchase your TGV tickets at the last minute or even on the day. For some bizarre reason they are double the price when booked in advance (£34 in advance, £17 at the last minute!)

An alternative to the train would be the magic shuttle. This air conditioned bus takes around 45 minutes and can drop you off in Val d’Europe. This costs €24 for adults and €11 for children

If you arrive late at night you may end up needing to get a taxi. This can cost up to €90. If you are a group of 4 this could be a great value option with the added convenience of being dropped right at your hotel.

Flying into ORY Airport:

Alternatively Paris ORY airport is a similar distance from the park but it doesn’t have the convenience of the high speed TGV train.

From here you can get the ‘Magic Shuttle’ bus which is €24 for adults and €11 for children. This takes around 60 minutes. Note that the last buses run at around 7pm, so this isn’t an ideal option if you are arriving late in the evening.

Late arrivals may need to get a taxi which will be around €90 – if there are a group of you travelling this again may be worth while for the convenience.

Driving to France from the UK:

If you are a larger family or you need to travel with a lot of luggage, driving is an option to consider. Taking check in luggage can really hike up your flight costs, we always recommend travelling light when possible. Driving to France means you can pack as much as you want (and could even bring some great value wine back home!)..

We recently drove to France from Nottinghamshire, this was a 4 hour drive to Dover, a 1.5 hour ferry crossing and then 2.5 hours to our Eurocamp base. I will talk more about using eurocamp as a base further into this post.

When considering driving to France you need to:

  • Budget for petrol, the price of the ferry/shuttle and tolls within France.
  • Ensure your car insurance covers you for driving outside of the UK.
  • Purchase breakdown cover incase you have any issues with the car in France.
  • Legally you need to make sure your vehicle is identified as being from the UK. If you don’t have the new style registration plate with UK on there, you need to get a sticker for the back of your car.
  • By law you need to carry reflective jackets and a warning triangle – This is a great set that has everything you’ll need including the UK sticker.

Directferries is a useful website that compares the price of different ferry companies and the shuttle. On the trip we recently took, the ferry was almost half the price of the shuttle. For the best shuttle prices you need to be booking as far in advance as possible.  We are eternal last minute planners and only booked our ferry on the day before we travelled!

Finding Affordable Accommodation – Val D’Europe

One of the keys points to visiting Disneyland Paris on a budget is choosing the right place to stay. While staying at a Disney hotel would be magical and wonderful, we are on a tight budget here! Instead, consider staying in the nearby town of Val D’Europe. Here’s why:

  • Variety of Accommodation Options: Val D’Europe offers a range of accommodation options, from budget-friendly hotels to private apartments. You’ll have no trouble finding something that suits your budget and group size.
  • Proximity to the Parks: Val D’Europe is just a stone’s throw away from Disneyland Paris so a super convenient base for your trip. Many hotels in the area offer a shuttle services to the park. Alternatively take the train and travel just one stop to be at the park.
  • Easy access from the airport: The train station in Val d’Europe is only one stop from Marne-la-Vallée Chessy station (the station at Disneyland) where the TGV will drop you off.
  • Shopping and Dining: Val D’Europe has a large shopping centre where you can purchase some Primark Disney merch before you visit the park. My Minnie Mouse ears were €4.50 in Primark and €20 in the park! There are also lots of cheap places to eat here.

We stayed in a 4 bedroom apartment (because we only booked the night before and nothing was available!). I do a little tour of the apartment on my instagram highlight and a lot of you ask for a link. So here it is ! If you have a big family or a larger group travelling, it is a fantastic option. Right round the corner from the train station.

If you use our search feature to look for a trip to Disneyland Paris, we will find you the best flights and hotel for your availability. It is free to use, you just need to sign up for a free account!

Eurocamp as a Budget Friendly Base

For a unique and budget-friendly base near Disneyland Paris, consider the ‘La Croix du Vieux Pont’ park in Berny-Rivière. I am going to make a whole post on our recent stay here but in summary, here’s why this eurocamp park could be a smart option:

  • Affordability: Eurocamps are often more budget-friendly than traditional hotels, making them an attractive option for families and people on a tight budget.
  • Spacious Accommodation: Caravans come equipped with kitchens, allowing you to save money by preparing your own meals. This can significantly reduce dining costs. We spent under £100 on all of our meals for our 3 night stay.
  • Lots for kids to do: There are lots of activities to keep kids busy on the days that you aren’t at Disneyland. Whether its swimming, waterslides, boating, mini golf, bowling, relaxing at their “beach area” or the evening entertainment, your kids won’t get bored here.
  • Transport to Disneyland : The park offers a paid shuttle to Disneyland or Paris centre. Alternatively the drive to Disneyland is just over an hour.

We booked our 3 night stay via The Sun holidays and it was only £150 for the 3 nights for all of us! This was during the August school holidays too. I’ll discuss this more in the specific Eurocamp blog post (that I will write soon!).

Getting the Best Ticket Price

We all know it is the ticket prices that will really hike up the cost of this trip. Although our main aim is to reduce all of the other costs surrounding this trip, there are a few ways to save on the tickets too. Here are some tips to help you save on park admission:

  • Off-Peak Visits: Visiting during the off-peak seasons or on weekdays will result in lower ticket prices and also shorter queues for the rides. Prices can vary over £30 per ticket when comparing different dates. Use the official website to view their price calendar, this makes it easy to see when the cheapest dates to visit will be.
  • Third Party Providers: Attraction tix is a great website for buying park tickets. It will often save you a fair few quid per ticket which can really add up for a group. Using an example of a two day, two park ticket for the 6th of November. On the official UK Disneyland website the tickets are £141.72 per adult but on Attractiontix the same tickets are £132.47.  There are often little add ons with these third parties too, for example Attractiontix are currently giving you 3 months of Disney+ along with the tickets.
  • Compare the UK site with the French one: Often the French Disneyland site has cheaper tickets than the UK one! If we use the example above, the 2 day 2 park pass on the UK site is £141.72, on the French site it is €156 which converts to £134.63. If paying in euros make sure you pay with a specialist travel card to get the best rates.

I hope this post has helped you believe that you CAN visit Disneyland Paris on a budget! By making savvy decisions throughout the planning process, you really can reduce the cost of your trip. Like i’ve said, try our search feature for help finding the best flights and hotel for you. If you need anything else we are always happy to help 🙂

How To Visit Disneyland Paris On A Budget

Our top tips to help you save money at disneyland paris.

How To Visit Disneyland Paris On A Budget (The Castle At Disneyland Park, Paris)

It will come as no surprise to you when we say a trip to Disneyland Paris can be pricey. It may be the happiest place on earth, but it comes at a price. However, there are ways you can save money on your Disneyland Paris trip and today, we're taking you through our top tips.

Disclosure: Some of the links on this site are affiliate links, meaning we may make a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you click through and make a purchase.

01. Consider Staying Offsite

Staying offsite is a great way to save yourself some money when visiting Disneyland Paris. Val d'Europe is a great location, as it's only a short drive or bus ride away. It's train station is only one stop away from the train station just outside of the park gates and depending on which hotel or Airbnb you're staying at, you may even be withing walking distance, making Val d'Europe the perfect offsite location.

02. Choose Accommodation With A Kitchen

In our Disneyland Paris: Onsite vs Offsite post, we named Adagio Aparthotel (Disney partner hotel) and Hipark by Adagio Serris (non-partner hotel) as our favourite non-Disney hotels because of the kitchenettes in the apartments. With the cost of food being high in the parks, being able to prepare your own meals will help you save a lot of money over the course of your trip.

03. Plan A Shorter Trip

Maybe not the most popular tip on the list, but we've found you don't need a long trip to experience Disneyland Paris. Instead of a week, see if you can cut your trip down to 2 or 3 days to make it more affordable. Read our 2 day itinerary to see how to make the most of your time.

04. Invite Friends & Family

By going as a group, you can split the cost of airport transfers/car hire, accommodation and the food bill. So if your friends or family are thinking of taking a trip too, invite them along and share the expense as well as the magic.

05. Take Advantage Of Offers

If you're booking your trip through the Disneyland Paris website or via a third-party site (such as MagicBreaks ) keep an eye out for the different deals that pop up throughout the year. Our favourite is the free half board dining offer, taking care of 2 of your meals each day. Our other favourite offers to look out for include "Save up to 25% off Hotel Packages" and "Free €100 Disney Spending Money". The"Extra Night(s) Free" offer is a great one if you're looking for a longer trip. Each of these deals are worth waiting for, so consider waiting to book your trip until one is available.

06. Consider Buying An Annual Pass

An annual pass is a great option if you're planning a long trip (usually 4+ days) or if you'll be making more than one trip to Disneyland Paris in the year. The different tiers of annual passes also offer different discounts in shops and restaurants in the parks. So even though buying an annual pass will cost more at once, you could be saving yourself a lot of money over the year. For the latest information on Disneyland Paris annual passes, visit their website here

07. Visit Outside Of School Holidays & National Holidays

As with any trip, travelling outside of the school holidays will be cheaper. The cost of flights and accommodation will be lower, park tickets will be less expensive and the parks will be quieter too. Make sure to check Spanish school holidays as well as UK and French holidays, as all 3 will have an impact on price and crowd levels.

How To Visit Disneyland Paris On A Budget (Tower of Terror)

08. Book Park Tickets In Advance

Entry tickets to both parks will be more expensive if you buy them on the day. Instead save yourself a bit of money (and time) by buying them in advance through the Disneyland Paris website here or through a trusted third-party company.

09. Remember Your Reusable Water Bottle

A bottle of water (500ml) in the parks will cost you around €3.30, so don't forget to bring your own if you want to save some money. There are water fountains dotted around both parks where you can fill up your bottle with cold water that's safe to drink. During our winter trips, we find that the outdoor drinking fountains don't always run due to the cold weather. So if you're visiting in winter, head inside the arcades either side of Main Street U.S.A as those fountains tend to keep running.

10. Pack Lunch & Snacks

We've already touched on the cost of food in the parks, so why not take your lunch and some snacks with you? Big picnic bags, glass bottles and alcohol are not permitted in the parks, but we've never been stopped from taking a couple of sandwiches and a few snacks with us.

11. Bring Your Own Stroller

To hire a pushchair/stroller costs around €15 per day, so if you have little ones, bringing your own stroller will certainly save you some money over the duration of your trip.

12. Be Prepared For The Weather

We've found that the weather can be unpredictable in Disneyland Paris, so make sure to pack weather-related items that you could need but might not think to bring with you such as ponchos umbrellas, gloves, sunglasses. These items are pricey - €10 for a thin plastic poncho! - so buy them for much less back home and avoid getting caught out.

13. Bring Disney Themed Souvenirs With You

Rather than buying toys and souvenirs from the parks, another good money-saving tip is to buy Disney gifts from home to give to your little ones. They'll be happy with their gifts and you'll be happy you saved some money.

Are there any money saving tips we missed? We're always looking for more ways to save money on our trips, so share your tips in the comment section below.

6 Tips for Doing Disneyland Paris on a Budget

visit disneyland paris on a budget

Let’s get real, it’s difficult to plan a holiday to Disneyland Paris on a budget.

At best a four-day holiday (including spending money) is going to cost over £1,500 for a couple (if you’ve ever done it for less than that please share your secrets), at worst it could be double that.

If you’re reading this, it’s likely you’re trying to come up with a way to squeeze a trip in for as little money as possible. Or maybe you’ve always dreamed of going to Disneyland Paris, but the figures mentioned above are way too far out of your realm of possibility.

Whatever your reason for being here, today I’m sharing six tips for doing Disneyland Paris on a budget.

1. Stay in an Off-Site Hotel

The single biggest thing you can do to tackle doing Disneyland Paris on a budget is to stay at an off-site hotel. Sure, they aren’t as magical as their on-site counterparts, but they’re so much more affordable.

Our recommendation is the Adagio Serris Val D’Europe which is situated about a 15 minute walk from the Five Guys entrance to the park. Is it basic? Yes. But it’s clean, there’s plenty of space and it even has an outdoor pool which is great if you’re travelling in the summer. We paid £300 for three-nights during our September 2022 trip and it was well worth the money. The cheapest on-site Disneyland Paris hotel for the same dates was over £1,200.

The other added bonus of this hotel in particular is that there’s a small kitchen area so you can make some meals yourself, and it’s easily walkable to the parks which saves on train, parking and taxi fares. This isn’t the only off-site hotel though, there’s loads of options in the local area that are affordable.

You won’t find Mickey Mouse roaming the lobby, but you will have some spends leftover to make the most of your trip.

visit disneyland paris on a budget

2. Limit Your Alcohol

This is the one we both struggle with the most. At the end of the day, we like a drink and alcohol forms a decent part of our holiday experience.

Some of our favourite Disney moments have happened when we were enjoying a drink, but the alcohol at Disney is ridiculously expensive. A cocktail in one of the Disneyland Paris hotel bars will set you back around €16 so a few of them a day makes a significant dent to your budget.

This one massively depends on what makes a holiday for you. We know we like a drink, so we wouldn’t go unless we had enough money to enjoy a few bevvies in the Sports Bar in Disney Village.

And if we’re on a budget trip, we choose beer or wine which is almost half the price of the cocktails. But if you’re really trying to squeeze a cheap trip to Disneyland Paris in your calendar, leave the alcohol in the hotel room.

3. Stick to Snacks and Quick Service Restaurants

Many people will have you thinking that without making your advance dining reservations you’re missing out on a massive part of the Disneyland Paris dining experience. But that’s absolutely not the case, there’s plenty of tasty snacks and quick service options that are a fraction of the price of a sit down meal.

Don’t get me wrong, in general, the table service meals are great. There’s tonnes of atmosphere, the food CAN be amazing and it’s always fun to experience highly themed dining.

However, the table service restaurants are very, very expensive, setting you back an average of €90 for a couple for one meal and the quality is patchy. Keeping it quick service can lead to a significant saving on your holiday and there’s more than enough variety at Disneyland Paris to eat something new and interesting every day during a multiple-day trip.

visit disneyland paris on a budget

4. Avoid Expensive Add-Ons

Since the pandemic, lots has changed at Disneyland Paris including the introduction of Premier Access (a paid-for fast track for the main attractions) and skip-the-queue spots at the more popular shows.

This one is a bit of a no brainer, but if you’re planning a budget trip to Disneyland Paris don’t be tempted to give into the marketing of these, even if it’s busy. With a good plan of action for tackling the parks, you can get all the top attractions and shows in without having to shell out for an up-charge.

A budget trip can very easily get out of hand if you keep adding extras so we recommend having a list of all the key rides, experiences and food you want to get done that day and prioritise those must-do’s.

5. Buy Premium Merchandise Before You Go

Disneyland Paris is full of shops just tempting you to spend money on very expensive items. There’s a huge selection of things like Spirit Jerseys, Loungefly bags and Minnie Mouse ears and it can be so tempting to want them all.

If you’re on a budget consider buying some of your bigger ticket items when you’re at home. I’ve bought official Minnie Mouse ears from Shop Disney for as little as £12 in the sale before and Vinted and Depop are your best friends for cheaper second-hand Spirit Jerseys and Loungefly bags that have barely been used. Primark is also brilliant for Disney t-shirts that are often nicer than the ones in the parks.

With the expensive stuff sorted before your trip, you can focus on smaller bits of merch like pens, pins and mugs which are much more affordable on a modest budget.

6. Don’t Get Carried Away

This one is very close to my heart! One of the biggest pieces of advice I could give is to make a plan and stick to it. Before you go decide exactly what you have to spend and what you want to spend it on.

Watch YouTube videos or take a look at Shop Disney to get an idea of what merchandise you want to buy and how much it costs. If you do want to squeeze a table service meal in, pre-book it and look at the menu beforehand so you know exactly how much it’ll cost you. Make a pact with yourself that you’ll have a daily budget and try not to go over it.

If you go with that mindset, you’ll be more likely to stick to your budget. And believe me, Disney makes it very hard. There are literally shops and food places EVERYWHERE that you just want to throw your money at. But if you can, remember your plan and make a promise to yourself that you won’t deviate from it.

If you do that, you won’t go far wrong with managing to do Disneyland Paris on a budget.

There are my six tips for doing Disneyland Paris on a budget. If you have any more tips, please do share them in the comments!

Here's how not to break the bank on a trip to Disneyland Paris

Theme parks come in all shapes and sizes, with rides based on everything from comic strip characters and budding wizards to galaxies far, far away. And most children (and adults) agree that Disney parks are the fairest of them all.

In Europe, that means Disneyland Paris , which has just turned 30. With rollicking rollercoasters and whirling waltzers, magical parades and spectacular firework displays, not to mention Pixar and Marvel-comic themed attractions, there’s something for everyone, even the most hard-hearted cynic (or teenager.) But all that magic comes at a price.

If you want to go the whole hog and stay at one of Disneyland Paris’ on-site hotels, a two-night holiday for a family of four, including flights from the UK and park access, will likely set you back more than £1,500 (€1,704). And that’s before you’ve even thought about food.

But worry not. With guidance from your LoveEXPLORING fairy godmother, you shall indeed go to the Disneyland Paris ball. Read on for our top five tips on how to save those euros:

visit disneyland paris on a budget

1. Book your tickets well in advance

When it comes to finding the best deals, planning and research are key. The Eurostar will save you hours of stress and hassle compared to the airport and with tickets starting from £39 (€44) per adult and £28 (€32) per child one way, it needn’t be too pricey. You just need to book well ahead.

Tickets typically go on sale 11 months in advance and you can also sign up to Eurostar’s newsletter for the heads-up on special promotions and offers. Alternatively, if you’re flying, the same rules apply. Book your flights as far ahead as possible.

2. If you’re taking the Eurostar, change at Gare du Nord

Even though there’s a direct Eurostar service to Marne-La-Vallée - Chessy (the station for Disneyland Paris), you’ll find much more affordable fares (and a better choice of train times) if you get off at Gare du Nord.

From there, the local French railway service takes less than an hour and costs only €5 (£4.40) each way for adults and €2.50 (£2.20) for children under nine.

3. Try and avoid the school holidays and visit off-peak

Avoiding the peak times of the summer and Easter holidays means you’ll find much better rates for almost everything, whether it’s travel fares, park tickets or accommodation. Even if you’re travelling with school-age children, this is perfectly doable.

Unless you want to cover every single attraction in both Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios (which is part of the same complex), two days is usually plenty, meaning you can visit over a weekend rather than waiting until the holidays.

I took my nine year-old daughter on a weekend in November and yes, we had to wrap up warm – but not only were the queues considerably shorter than at busier times of the year, the Christmas lights and decorations just added to the magic.

4. Stay in an off-site hotel

Staying in Disneyland itself may seem part of the appeal, but your accommodation is where you’ll make your biggest savings and your time in Disneyland will be just as memorable.  There are various reasonably priced hotels dotted around Marne La Vallée, the neighbourhood around the park, and some offer free shuttles to Disneyland.

Opt for Les Villages Natures – a 300-acre eco resort about 20 minutes away by local bus (€2 each way), with self-catering cottages and its own indoor waterpark. Two nights in a two-bedroom ‘Comfort Cottage’ start from £188 (€213) based on a family of four sharing, without breakfast, but including access to the waterpark as well as the onsite farm.

5. Bring your own snacks, drinks and dressing-up gear

Disney-themed snacks may seem part of the fun, but with a Mickey-shaped cheese and ham toastie costing around €9 (£8) and meals considerably more, eating in the park can be seriously pricey.

Bringing your own snacks is a great solution and is allowed by the parks (you just can’t bring in whopping great cooler packs or picnic baskets). Packing your own water bottles (as long as they’re not glass) will also save on pricey drinks. Look out for water fountains and water-filling stations dotted around the site.

Finally, you’ll almost certainly want to bring home a souvenir, but if you don’t want to end up spending a small fortune on cuddly toys, keyrings or the ubiquitous Minnie Mouse ears that half of Disneyland seems to be wearing, buy your gifts in advance. Amazon has a huge selection of Disney-related souvenirs, while most major British supermarket chains sell Disney-themed fancy dress outfits at a fraction of what you’ll pay in Paris.

10 New Ways to Do Disneyland Paris on a Budget in 2024 – And Still Have the Best Time Ever!

Without a doubt, Disney is more expensive than ever before. And with the rising cost of living, it has become ever more popular to do Disneyland Paris on a budget in 2024.

But is Disneyland Paris still magical without spending loads of money? You bet it is! Walt Disney’s theme park where adults relive the magic of childhood can be affordable for everyone – if you follow these budget-friendly tips.

To Experience Disneyland Paris on a Budget in 2024 Follow These Super Smart Tips

1. diy your trip.

If you are short on time, booking a package holiday for Disneyland Paris makes sense. You can use a travel agent like Magic Breaks or get a quote from Disneyland Paris directly .

However, if you have time but your budget is smaller, consider organising it all yourself (aka The DIY Holiday).

A DIY budget holiday for Disneyland Paris means booking your tickets, hotel and travel separately.

The advantage of booking your holiday separately is that you can weigh up the cost of each part individually: 👉 You can consider the cheapest travel options (train, car or flight) 👉 You can decide how many days of park tickets you want 👉 You can choose the price of the hotel you can afford 👉 You can enjoy more flexibility with your arrival and departure times

Most of all, you can try different combinations of travel, hotel and ticket costs until the total is the price you want to pay.

🤔 HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO GO TO DISNEYLAND PARIS? If you want to peek at DIY prices right now, Skip to Step #10 to see how a family of four can spend 3 days at Disneyland Paris  for only £500 per person (spending money included!) .

2. Earn Money Back with TopCashback

A great hack for saving money is using TopCashback for your everyday online purchases. This is a free cashback service.

Depending on how much shopping you do, this could add up to enough money for Mickey snacks or enough for another night in your hotel. (That’s a FUN way to do Disneyland Paris on a budget!)

TopCashback 'Get money back when you shop online' Green box with mobile phone. Browser showing retailers for cashback: Ebay, Booking.com, Hotels.com

It works like this:

Step 1 – Go to TopCashback.com (use my affiliate link for a bonus). Once there, sign up for a FREE ACCOUNT.

Step 2 – Use their website to search for any retailer you want to buy from.

✏️ TIP The online shops I use most often are H&M, Argos, LookFantastic and Hotels.com (for all my travel). But you can search for any shop you want, including Disneyland Paris! At Christmas time, your cashback really adds up with all the gifts we buy!

Screenshot of Topcashback website showing search box

Step 3 – Click on the retailer link, and you will be sent to that website (i.e. click on M&S, and it will track your visit from TopCashback to M&S). Make your purchase as normal, and TopCashback will email that your cashback has been tracked.

Step 4 – Sit back and wait till your money back gets deposited. Every retailer has different terms; it can take a few weeks or (in rare cases) a few months to see the money in your account. Once the money is in your TopCashback account, you can withdraw it (seriously, right into your bank account!).

Or, you can trade your balance for a bonus amount on a gift card worth a bit more. For example, you might be able to buy a Pizza Express gift card with your TopCashback earnings and get an additional 12% for free.

👱🏻‍♀️ MY EXPERIENCE In two years, I made over £1000 with TopCashback. I used that money to pay for my solo trip to Walt Disney World in Florida. A trip to Disney World for nothing? It’s a no-brainer – I can’t recommend it enough.

Here’s your link to TopCashback in case you missed it. Once you try it, and the money adds up for your next Disney trip, you will wonder why you didn’t start using it before!

3. Buy Discounted Disneyland Paris Park Tickets

A great way to do Disneyland Paris on a budget is to get the cheapest park tickets.

My favourite discount ticket outlet is Attraction Tickets , but I will always do a quick comparison with Disney direct .

In this example, a 3-day/2-park ticket for one adult going August 2024 costs: – DisneylandParis.com: £288.86 – Attraction Tickets: £264.00 Savings from Attraction Tickets = £24.86

⁉️ Why use Attraction Tickets for cheaper Disneyland Paris tickets?

I have been booking my theme park tickets with Attraction Tickets since 2015 for these reasons:

Reason # 1 – Money Back

I can use TopCashback (see above) to get money back on my Attraction Tickets purchase. For a Florida trip, we got £30 back. This money is handy when you’re doing Disneyland Paris on a budget!

Reason # 2 – Great Customer Service When There’s a Problem

Attraction Tickets has always given me outstanding customer service. Whether your flights get cancelled or you have any questions before you make a purchase, they have friendly and knowledgeable staff to help you at Attraction Tickets.

Reason # 3 – Free Gifts and Discounts

Different promotions are running all the time, so check to see what is being offered currently. For example, in the past, I’ve bought adult tickets at kid prices. I also got a very cute document wallet for Disney World and free PhotoPass pictures for Disneyland Paris.

Text reads Disneyland Paris Budget Planner. Calculator Workbook. Easily add up your costs and keep your quotes in one place

4. Consider Low-Season Dates

Travelling off-peak will help you do Disneyland Paris on a budget.

The prices above are for Summer Holiday tickets. But let’s compare the current prices for a 3-day 2-park ticket in the low season!

In this example, a 3-day/2-park ticket for one adult going January 2025 costs: – DisneylandParis.com: £186.09 (price in August = £288.86) – Attraction Tickets: £171.00 (price in August = £264.00) Savings in January: Over £100 cheaper than in August!

⁉️ When is the Cheapest Time to Go to Disneyland Paris?

Not only do tickets cost more, but travel is more expensive at popular times. The most expensive time to go to Disneyland Paris is during the holidays at Christmas, Halloween, and Easter. But watch out for school holidays in France, Spain and the UK. These tend to be for around 12 weeks of summer mid-June to mid-September), two weeks at Christmas, two weeks at the end of October and two weeks around Easter.

If you are restricted to school holidays, you may find the cheapest way to do Disneyland Paris on a budget is to go during the February half term. ➡️ Check out our February Half-Term Trip Report for how we spent our 2-days at Disneyland Paris.

5. Book the Cheapest Hotels

📌  I have an entire post dedicated to saving money on hotels, so I recommend checking out How to Book the Cheapest Accommodation for Disneyland Paris .

Here are some highlights of that article.

Off-Site Hotels

While staying in the heart of the magic in a Disney hotel is really nice, staying off-site can be magical, too! Disney partner hotels and other local hotels will help you save money on your Disney holiday.

Disney Partner Hotel: Grand Magic Hotel

My favourite off-site family hotel for Disneyland Paris on a budget in 2024 is the Grand Magic Hotel . Last year, this partner hotel was beautifully refurbished. It offers many of the same amenities as a Disney hotel including a Disney gift shop, free wifi, free parking, and a free shuttle to the parks.

Local Hotel

My favourite hotel for an even smaller budget is Residhome Val d’Europe . It’s not only very economical (sometimes as little as £67/night), but you can get a mini-suite with a cooker and refrigerator. Being able to prepare your own food also helps cut the cost! You don’t get a shuttle to the parks, but it is only one stop away on the Metro train. ➡️ Check out my full review of Residhome Val d’Europe .

Disney Value Hotels

If your budget can stretch a bit further, get a quote for a Disney value hotel . Disney Hotel Cheyenne and Disney Santa Fe are within walking distance of the parks. They are Disney-themed hotels with a restaurant, Starbucks, gift shop and free parking. ➡️ Not sure which Disney value hotel to choose? 6. Consider All Modes of Travel

Like hotels and tickets, travel costs will vary based on how popular your dates are. If your dates are fixed, try comparing all modes of travel to save money.

– Travelling to Disneyland Paris Solo

I often visit Disneyland Paris by myself. For one person not tied to school holidays and based in London, it works out cheapest for me to travel by Eurostar.

🤓 GOOD TO KNOW Back in June 2023, Eurostar ended their direct train service from London to Disneyland Paris. You now need to change in Lille. The indirect service has been running for as long as I can remember (at least 15 years!), and it is usually quick and easy.

But to save more money, consider the cheaper train to Paris Gare du Nord instead of Lille. Then, take the Metro train to Disneyland Paris for about €5. ➡️ Check out my full guide to Taking the Train from Paris to Disneyland Paris .

Everything you need to know about the Eurotunnel to Disneyland Paris (and how to stay off-site like a pro!)

– Travelling to Disneyland Paris as a Family

Taking my husband and two kids to Disney can be pricey on the Eurostar. In the summer, I had a quote for over £1000! So instead, we drive to Disneyland Paris from London. ➡️ Check out my post on how we used the Eurotunnel .

🚗 There are different costs associated with driving, which will depend on your vehicle. But to give you an idea, for my family, driving to Disneyland Paris in August cost us: – Fuel: £100 – Tolls: £44 – Eurotunnel: £319.00 – RAC European breakdown cover: £32.00 Total = £495

💡 Don’t forget you need a European driving kit to drive legally in France. ➡️ Also, check out this Disneyland Paris Packing List that includes a handy Driver’s Checklist.

7. Pack More Fun into a Shorter Trip

How long do you need at Disney?

In my recent article, How Many Days Do You Need for Disneyland Paris , I have a breakdown of what you can see at Disney in a short trip (1-2 days) and in a longer trip (4-5 days). If you need help deciding how many days you want to go, that article is perfect for you.

On a really tight budget? Consider taking a 1-day trip to Disneyland Paris! I have 3 amazing itineraries to inspire your 1-day trip: – 1 day in Disneyland Paris Park (the main park) here – 1 day in Walt Disney Studios (second park) here – 1 day in both parks here here

8. Follow These 3 Tips to Keep Meals Within Your Budget at Disneyland Paris

Food at Disney is an area of your budget where you can be mindfully frugal or wildly extravagant!

It is a great idea to save money by bringing snacks and eating at counter-service restaurants. You might also consider the Disney meal plan.

Tip # 1: Consider if the Disney Meal Plan Saves You Money

If you are staying at an official Disney hotel, you will be eligible for the Disney meal plan .

The advantage of the Disney meal plan is that you pre-pay for your meals leaving you not to worry about how much everything costs once you are on your holiday.

Does the Disneyland Paris meal plan save you money?

✔️ It can save you money if you are planning to eat in a sit-down restaurant for every breakfast and dinner during your trip.

In other words, if your trip is all about trying the different Disney restaurants, then you should buy the meal plan because it offers an overall discount if you take full advantage of it.

❌ But, if you think you might mix it up with quick service options, or if you want to grab a coffee and a muffin from Starbucks instead of a full buffet breakfast, you will be better off without the meal plan.

Tip # 2: Take Advantage of Quick-Service Dining

If you want to do Disneyland Paris on a budget, consider counter-service restaurants.

There are many fantastic quick-service dining options in Disneyland Paris. These do not require a reservation and will give you complete freedom with your plans. Quick-service dining is cheaper than table-service dining.

Don’t worry, not having a Disney dining plan will not limit you in any way. You can still book Disneyland restaurants and pay on the day. ➡️ Follow my guide on How to Book Dining at Disneyland Paris .

9 Foolproof Ways to Get Your Next Disneyland Paris Restaurant Booking (Even When the Dining Reservations Are Sold Out!)

Tip # 3: Bring Snacks With You

Another way to save money on food at Disney is to bring snacks with you. You can bring most types of food from England into France, but not dairy, fresh fruit or meat.

➡️ Not sure what to bring? Check out this full list of Snack Ideas for Disneyland Paris .

If you don’t have room in your luggage, you can also buy snacks from the shops inside Chessy train station (next to the park). Or, if you catch the RER metro train from Chessy to Val d’Europe (one-stop), you can visit Auchan, a supermarket with a huge food selection.

Selection of children's soft toys (including Tigger, Peter Pan and Cheshire Cat) in a Disneyland Paris gift shop

9. Buy Souvenirs Before You Go

A medium-sized Stitch toy costs €40 at Disneyland Paris. If you have two kids, you’re looking at a lot of pocket money!

But to do Disneyland Paris on a budget, remember that similar Disney toys are available in the UK. Primark has authentic Disney clothing, toys and stationery . Shop Disney UK frequently has sales – check out mouse ears, collector pins, Christmas ornaments and more.

Another great way to do Disneyland Paris on a budget is to buy your kid’s Disney costumes from Amazon. They have authentic Disney princess dresses and Marvel Avengers superhero outfits for much less than at the Disney parks.

💡 Finally, looking for a cute gift your kids will treasure always that won’t break the bank? Get an autograph book to collect character signatures! ➡️ Check out these 21 Ideas for Disney Character Autographs .

Personalised watercolour Disney autograph books for children

10. Set a Budget and Stick To It

Trust me, there’s nothing worse than coming home to Disney Blues and a whopping credit card bill. No matter how exciting a Disney trip is, it’s not worth your mental health or getting into unmanageable debt.

Avoid this by sticking to your budget from the very beginning. Work out how much you can reasonably save every month. Then work out when you want to go.

For example, let’s say you can save £250 a month, and you want to visit in 8 months. That would mean you have £2,000 to spend, or £500 per person for a family of four.

⭐ How to Do Disneyland Paris for £500/Person

With a £2,000 budget, a typical family with two kids under 12 years old, travelling from the UK in mid-March could reasonably spend the following for Disneyland Paris:

– Adult tickets for 3 days (park hopper): 184 x 2 adults = £368 – Child tickets for 3 days (park hopper): 171 x 2 kids = £342 – Hotel 2 nights at Grand Magic Hotel: 189 x 2 nights = £378 – Drive to Disneyland Paris (see costing in ‘travel’ above): £495 – Souvenirs and other miscellaneous costs: £100 – Meals and snacks: £317 (illustrated below*)

*Meals (Sample Costs):

  • Buffet breakfast with Disney characters in 1 restaurant (i.e., Character breakfast at Plaza Gardens): £125 approx.
  • Quick breakfast x1 (i.e., hot drink and muffin from Coffee Grinder on Main Street): £25
  • Quick service dinners x2 (i.e., Bella Notte 2 x large Mickey pizza meals / Toad Hall Fish and Chips x4): £59 approx.
  • Snacks (i.e., Mickey ice creams x8, coffees x6) £50 (and bring water bottles and snacks with you from home)
  • Counter-service lunches x2 (i.e., McDonald’s and Earl of Sandwich in Disney Village): £58

With this smart budget, your family will get the full ‘Disney Experience:’ dining with characters, treats with Mickey ice cream, having Mickey pizza for dinner and staying in a beautifully themed hotel.

And YOU will have priceless memories to treasure for a lifetime.

Tips For Visiting Disneyland Paris On A Budget

visit disneyland paris on a budget

Visiting Disneyland Paris is an experience like no other, but it certainly doesn’t come cheap…but you’ll be glad to know that there are ways to be mindful with your spending and make your budget stretch that bit further during your trip with my Tips for visiting Disneyland Paris on a budget.

Unfortunately, the direct Eurostar service has yet to return post pandemic – but fingers crossed they bring it back soon!

Saving On Dining

We also tend to pick up lunch from the convenience stores located within the train station outside the Disneyland Paris gates – they sell pre-packaged sandwiches’ at a fraction of the cost of what you’d buy inside the parks, and the quality is pretty decent.

We also often tend to order pizza from outside the parks to be delivered to our room for dinner of an evening – this usually costs around 20 Euro and feeds all of us, saving us at least 30 Euros compared to what we’d pay in the parks. It’s also really nice to relax in the hotel with pizza in bed after a long park day, my kids always look forward to it!

How To Visit Disneyland Paris On A Budget

visit disneyland paris on a budget

So I think we can all agree that Disneyland Paris is pretty magical right? But pretty expensive.

It’s not the most budget friendly place in the world, but it can be done on a tighter budget, so don’t worry, you can still have some Disney magic in your life that is a little kinder on the purse strings.

After our recent trip to Disneyland Pari s, we found some tips and tricks to keep things on a budget, and I thought I’d share these with you today. I hope this helps if you are planning a trip there soon 🙂

visit disneyland paris on a budget

So first things first, travel, now probably the two easiest ways to travel to Disneyland Paris from the UK is by plane or the Eurostar. For us, flying was cheaper and easier, rather than going to London to get the Eurostar, however it depends where you are in the country.

Compare both options and see what works best for you and your budget, for flights I’d recommend Skyscanner , Kayak and Netflights to try to find cheap flights, and look out for Eurostar sales. I found when looking for tickets that flights in the middle of the day/ returning home in the morning were the cheapest.

Accommodation

So accommodation can be pretty pricey, you can stay on site at Disney (there are a range of hotels from 2-5 star depending on your budget) We stayed ay Sequoia Lodge (3 star) and Newport Bay Club (4 star) hotels which we loved as they were on site so super easy to go back to your room from the park. However I do realise that staying on site can eat up at your budget.

I’d recommend checking out Air Bnb for places nearby for a fraction of the price of a hotel (would also work out more cost-effective if you are travelling in a group) or look for other hotels nearby to the parks. There seems to be a lot around that cater for all budgets but still aren’t too far away either!

Park Tickets

So there isn’t much you can do about the price of the park tickets but the best place to get your tickets, which are the best value are from Attraction Tickets .com  who have a wide range of Disneyland Paris tickets that are such good prices. ATD have excellent product knowledge and customer service so you could even contact them to see what tickets are best for you and your trip, but pre booking your tickets rather than waiting to get them on the gate will save you SO much time and importantly money!

We had the Multiday Experience + tickets which were a little more than the standard Disneyland Paris tickets, but in our opinion oh so worth it! These tickets come with added fast passes for your second day (meaning you get to ride more rides quicker!) A VIP area to watch the illuminations which was INCREDIBLE, as well as discounts for restaurants in and around the park and discounts at the shops for merchandise.

visit disneyland paris on a budget

The tickets are limited, and only available till 30th August, so perfect if you’re planning a trip this Summer. I think it’s worth spending the little more to get these tickets are they include some incredible money can’t buy perks. But definitely head to ATD for your park tickets.

Food & Drink

So you’ve got your travel, accommodation and park tickets sorted, now let’s try to keep on a budget whilst in the park.

If you are on a budget, I’d recommend eating out of the park as within the park the food and drink can be quite pricey.

The Disney village has a lot of restaurants to eat at which are fairly priced, and include Planet Hollywood and Earl of Sandwich (if you book your tickets with ATD you get 15% off at these places!)

But to ultimately save money, I’d recommend being prepared and packing snacks with you to eat in the park, and bringing a refillable water bottle to fill with water to take to drink, or buy some of those small squash concentrates to mix with water. We wish we’d thought of doing this, as would have saved so much money with drinks!

You could even get a uber or train to the nearest supermarket to get snacks for in the park, Val D’Europe is very close and is only a couple of stops by train where you could stock up on snacks and drinks for in the park.

If you don’t want to venture too far, McDonald’s is cheap and cheerful and has a bakery for breakfast too!

But I’d say ultimately, try to pack as many snacks and of course a couple of water bottles to take with you!

I think that’s all my tips for being in and around the park, I’d love to know if you have any tips or tricks for keeping a Disneyland Paris trip on a budget?

Disney is what dreams are made off and getting there doesn’t have to cost you thousands. We’ve been to Disneyland four times in the past five years and there’s many more trips to come.

Here are  my top tips for going to Disneyland Paris on a budget , I hope you have as magical a time as we did!

Visit Disneyland Paris on a Budget – It’s Possible!

In December, myself, my partner and four children aged seven, three, two and one spent three nights and three days in the Explorers Hotel in Disneyland Paris for €1,400. That included our flights, accommodation, park tickets, transfers, parking in Dublin airport and a passport renewal for myself and two kids. I had a strict budget I had to abide to and with lots of research and patience we did it.

Here are my top tips for visiting Disneyland Paris on a budget, and advice for during your stay.

#1. Book Everything Yourself

To get the cheapest possible price to Disneyland Paris you must book everything yourself. That includes your flights, accommodation, park tickets and transfers.

#2. Shop Around for Flights

Disneyland Paris on a budget flying with kids

You will be flying into Charles De Gaulle or Orly in Paris. Compare flights using a website or app like Skyscanner and book the cheapest direct flights you can find.

Try to book an early flight out and a late flight going home to get the most out of your time at Disneyland.

#3. Use French and German Websites

When booking your accommodation compare both French and German Disneyland websites for accommodation. Use Google Translate to translate everything into English for you. Keep an eye on both sites for different deals. The deal we normally choose is “kids stay and play free” meaning with one paying adult one child will be free.

NB:  You cannot book online. When you find the right price ring the number prompted at the end and request the French or German deal.

Top tip:  Ask for your park tickets & transfers to be included.

You will be asked to pay a 20% deposit and then organise a direct debit for the remaining balance of your Disneyland trip to be paid six weeks before you travel. Everything will be emailed to you.

#4. Pre-book Airport Transfers

Book your airport transfers directly through Magic Shuttle by Transdev. Tickets are €23 per adult, €10 per child and under 2’s go free. Make sure you print your tickets off to present to the bus driver during your trip.

#5. Avoid UK and French School Holidays

When you are planning your trip to Disneyland Paris try to avoid public and school holidays when booking. The parks can be mayhem when schools are closed across the United Kingdom and France so always cross check the dates. The last thing you want to be doing is spending your valuable Disney time in mile-long queues.

#6. Avail of Exclusive Park Hours

visit disneyland paris on a budget

If you choose to stay in a Disney Hotel you can avail of extra park hours during your stay. That means you can enter the parks earlier than everyone else. The days and parks vary throughout the year so always check with your hotel reception.

#7. Pre-book Your Meeting with Spider-Man

If you want a meet and greet with Spider-Man you must download the Lineberty app in advance. It’s available from  Apple Store   and  Google Play . Once you’ve downloaded the app select Disneyland Paris then Meet Spider-Man to book your ticket.

You will receive a time to present yourself at the entrance of the Spider-Man Meet and Greet in Walt Disney Studios near the Disney Blockbuster Cafe Backlot. It’s one of the most in-demand meet and greets in Disneyland Paris so don’t leave it too late.

Travelling with young children (or partners…) can be a challenge – take a look at our sanity-saving family travel tips and get prepared for your next adventure!

#8. Use Your Park Ticket for FASTPASS

visit disneyland paris on a budget

Not many people know this but your park ticket is also a FASTPASS ticket. If you scan your park ticket at FASTPASS machines available at some of the most popular attractions you can save loads of time by retrieving a return time slot. You can only use it one ride at a time so use it wisely.

You can use Disneyland FASTPASS on the following attractions:

Disneyland Park

  • Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril
  • Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain
  • Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast
  • Big Thunder Mountain
  • Peter Pan’s Flight

Walt Disney Studios Park

  • Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
  • Flying Carpets over Agrabah
  • Ratatouille

#9. Bring Speedos for Dad

Baggy swimwear are illegal in France! If your hotel has a pool be aware that it is illegal to enter a public pool in baggy swimwear in France. Man, woman or child must wear spandex.

Be prepared and pick up Speedos for himself in Penneys or Dunnes before your travels to Disneyland Paris otherwise they will set you back around about twenty quid in your hotel.

#10. Bring Key Essentials to Save Money

There are some essentials that you can take with you to help save money:

  • If you are travelling to Disneyland in winter make sure you bring raincoats or ponchos otherwise they will set you back a tenner each for disposable ponchos in both parks.
  • Make sure you bring plenty of batteries and a spare SD card for your camera too.
  • Calpol and Paracetamol are not sold on the grounds of Disneyland. If one of your kids get poorly during your visit you will have to take a train out of Disneyland to the nearest chemist or it will cost you €50 for a return trip in a taxi. So make sure you stock up before you go.

#11. Try to Eat at Unusual Times

Disneyland Paris on a budget Buzz Lightyear

If at all possible try to avoid usual lunch and dinner times when at Disney Parks. For example, you could be queuing up for lunch at 1pm for a good half hour and possibly the same trying to find a seat, not beside a bin.

Time in Disney is precious, so eat earlier or bring a snack to keep you going until after the rush. There’s an added bonus to eating this way too, some rides are quieter during peak lunch and dinner times so there’s less queuing for you and your family.

#12. Bring Your Child’s Favourite Costume

And finally, make sure to bring your children’s favourite Disney character costumes and themed clothing with you. A Disney outfit will set you back at least fifty quid if you buy it in the parks!

Also, it is known that kids in costumes get more attention from cast members throughout both Parks.

Disneyland Paris on a budget: when to go, where to stay and how to buy your park tickets

Disneyland Paris

Think it's impossible to do a Disney holiday on a budget? Think again...

Opening as EuroDisney in 1992, Disneyland Paris had its fair share of teething issues in the first few years. With disgruntled stuff, an unreliable train service and low attendance, the park was quite different to the one we know and love today. And we really do love it. In 2016 the park was named as the ninth best theme park in the world, beating Hong Kong Disneyland and Disney’s Californian Adventure.

But while it may be one of the happiest places on earth, some of the prices will soon wipe the smile from your face!

Disneyland Paris

But as a diehard Disney fan, I’ll never let a trivial thing like having no money get in the way of a theme park fix. I’ve been to DLP three years in a row (yes, I have a problem) and, with 2017 marking the resort’s 25th anniversary, I knew I had to find a way to go again.

So if, like me, Disneyland is your spiritual home, here are my top tips for organising a family holiday to Disneyland Paris on a budget...

WATCH: The cast of Beauty & The Beast take the ULTIMATE Disney quiz

Disneyland Paris on a Budget: Where to stay

The official Disneyland website and a lot of UK travel agents will insist that the only place worth staying is at one of the seven Disney Hotels. Now the hotels look fantastic but even the budget options, such as Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe and Hotel Cheyenne, are pretty pricey with rooms working out at around £350 per night. What most people don’t realise is that there are a lot of other options that are mere pennies in comparison. Disneyland Paris is located in Marne-la-Vallée and so any hotel in this area is perfect for the parks. On our trip we chose Résidence du Parc Val d’Europe – a 20-minute bus journey to the entrance of the park. It cost us £150 for three nights for three of us (me, my husband and our one-year-old daughter) and the room was clean and comfy, had a small kitchenette and there was even an outdoor pool for warmer evenings. Another option is camping. CampingFrance.com has a roundup of campsites near Disney that can work out as cheap as 22€ per night. If you are planning to go for a week or two, a Disney Hotel might work out at a reasonable price as you can get your park tickets – and food –included in the package but, for a weekend break, it probably works out cheaper to organise everything separately.

Disneyland Paris on a Budget: Food for Thought

I’ll be honest, Disneyland food isn’t great. It’s not terrible but it’s not your typical French fare and it’s definitely not cheap – 9€ for a “Jedi Burger”, anyone? However, I did notice that DLP is a lot more relaxed with bringing in your own food that its American counterparts so some snacks and sandwiches in your bag will not go amiss. If you do decide to eat out, Disney Village may be a better option. Located just outside the parks, it’s a lot quieter at peak times and has cheap and cheerful options such as Earl of Sandwich, Five Guys and McDonald’s. Wandering around Disneyland, particularly in the summer, is thirsty work, so make sure you bring a couple of water bottles. You can save a small fortune on Evian by keeping these filled up at the drinking fountains dotted around the parks. Although there aren’t loads of them I do remember seeing them in the queue for Phantom Manor at Disneyland Park as well as the arcade (the covered walkways in Main Street) and next to the toilets in Disney Studio 1 – the covered walkway at the entrance of Walt Disney Studios Park. Cast members are always around to point you in the right direction.

Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris on a Budget: How to Get There

We live in Edinburgh so flying was the best option for us. I used SkyScanner and bagged Air France flights to Charles de Gaulle for £174 for three of us (under twos are free). The other option, if you live further south, is the Eurostar. They often run promotions and you can sometimes bag tickets for as little as £25 each way. You could even get the bus or drive depending on how close you are to a ferry port. Upon arriving in Charles de Gaulle, if you’re not hiring a car, you can either get a taxi, bus or train to the parks and hotels. I would always recommend the train . Not only does it take only ten minutes (remember to get the TGV and not the RER) but if you book in advance, the tickets are reasonable and cost from as little as 17.50€. The Disney bus, on the other hand, takes 45 minutes and costs around 26€ per person.

Disneyland Paris on a Budget: It’s all about Timing

If you can, avoid school holidays and weekends at all costs. Train, tickets and hotel prices all increase during this period, and at weekends. If you’re booking a package holiday with Disney, the cheapest time to go is in between Christmas and spring.

Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris on a Budget: Where to buy tickets

Buying at the gate is the worst thing you can do. Seriously. You have to wait in long queues and you’ll pay up to DOUBLE what you’d pay booking in advance. I usually buy my tickets from AttractionTix and the site often runs promotions. When I booked, it had a one-day/two park ticket offer for £39. Even if you book from the Disney website, it can work out cheaper as they split the dates into Mini and Magic. Mini tickets are cheaper and are available on non-peak dates (such as weekdays) and Magic tickets are more expensive for peak-time visits such as weekends and school holidays.

Our trip cost just over £500 all-in for three of us. That doesn’t include food, although we saved quite a lot by using the local supermarket and cooking our own meals. Nor does it include the plastic lightsaber my husband bought for our one-year-old. And he says I’m the big kid!

How to Do Disneyland Paris on a Budget

How to Do Disneyland Paris on a Budget

No one wants to pay over the odds for their holiday, which is why we love to help save you money and get the best deal you can every time. With this in mind, we aim to show you how a family of 4 can save up to £1500 on a 3 day holiday to Disneyland Paris...a mega saving, we think you'll agree!

1.  Buy your park tickets in advance

visit disneyland paris on a budget

On the gate, 1 day Disneyland Paris tickets will set you back €88 euros for adults and 80€ for children – ouch! That’s nearly £68 for an adult ticket for just one day. Purchase your ticket in advance though, and you could save as much as £33 per adult ticket and £32 on a child’s ticket . Buy a 3 days for the price of 2 ticket in advance and the price drops dramatically to less than £33 a day. You’ll also save time at the gates, where queues can take up to an hour so it’s a win-win.

Estimated saving for a family of 4 for 1 day: £130

2.  Stay at a budget Disney hotel or an off-site location

visit disneyland paris on a budget

Although staying at a Disney hotel is an incredible experience, if you’re on a tighter budget it isn’t always feasible. However, the nearby town of Val d’Europe is conveniently located for the parks, just 1 stop away on the train, and packed with lots of great value hotels. Trains leave from the Val D’Europe station every 20 minutes and cost a few euros, so you’ll definitely make savings by staying off-site. If you want to be in the heart of the action though, budget hotels at Disney include the Hotel Cheyenne and the Hotel Santa Fe.

Estimated saving for a family of 4 for a 2-night stay with 3-day park tickets: Up to  £700

3.  Make the most of your free vouchers!

visit disneyland paris on a budget

While stocks last, we’re offering two great extra added values which will save you money on your Disneyland Paris holiday, when you purchase your Disneyland Paris tickets with us.The first voucher offers you 20% off all food and drinks at the Earl of Sandwich for the whole family. The Earl of Sandwich is already a great-value place to eat in the Disney Village and with this voucher you can really save some money on dining at the parks. Hot, American-style sandwiches are reasonably priced at less than €7 while huge, delicious salads and wraps with tasty fresh ingredients will set you back just under €8. A big lunch or dinner for 2 adults and 2 children with dessert (they have some of the best brownie desserts we've ever tasted!) and drinks costs around €40 or, with your 20% off voucher, €32/£25!

The second voucher is for the iconic Planet Hollywood restaurant, where you can save a whopping 15% on your bill . Tuck into amazing burgers, pasta, pizzas and a range of great desserts without the shock of the bill after.

Estimated saving for a family of 4: £16 - £32 per day

4.  Travel mid-week

If you have the flexibility to travel mid-week and outside of the school holidays, travel to Disneyland Paris and staying within the parks will be dramatically cheaper. Eurostar offer limited deals starting from as little as £36 each way for trains straight to Disneyland Paris, so it’s a good idea to book early and be flexible with your dates.

Estimated saving for a family of 4: £450

5.  Pack a lunch

visit disneyland paris on a budget

Although it’s great to experience Disney dining and especially character dining if you can, bringing your own food is a great way to save money. Although Disney discourage you from bringing in gigantic picnic baskets full of food, you are allowed to bring in your own drinks and snacks, which can save you lots of money, particularly if you’re visiting for a few days. There are also drinking water fountains within the park so make sure to bring a refillable bottle. For breakfasts, you can stock up on tasty and inexpensive pastries from the supermarket in nearby Val d’Europe (perfect if you’re staying there!).

Estimated saving for a family of 4: £75 - £100

With these top tips, a family of 4 could save up to an incredible £1500 on 3 day, 2 night stay at Disneyland Paris! And, whether you’re visiting the resort on a budget or if you fancy treating yourself to the all-out experience, you’re sure to have an incredible time at the parks and create lasting memories for the whole family.

How to make the most of your trip to Disneyland Paris on a budget

MummyConstant

We recently went to Disneyland Paris and had 1 day, 2 park tickets (also known as a Hopper Ticket). We chose to go in the Easter holidays as there seemed to be better prices on tickets and accommodation was slightly cheaper too. You can see the prices, online, each day and you can work out the best time for you and your family to visit. We had a limited budget and only had the one day, so we had to make the most of it. Here is my guide on how to make the most of your trip to Disneyland Paris on a budget:

Where to get your tickets?

Firstly, get your tickets at a discounted rate if you can; find a day that works for you and your family and use the calendar function on attractiontickets.com to see the difference in prices over the days. I paid £95 per ticket, for all 4 of us and these were hopper tickets; this means we can go into both parks freely all day. I got the dated ticket as we knew what day we wanted to visit the park. Last year we looked last minute to visit DLP and there was no availability, so I learned my lesson from then. The total cost for our day tickets during the Easter holidays came to £380. If you can go outside of the school holidays you can half this cost for a day ticket.

Plan your day…

… before you arrive. I spent a lot of time reading the DLP website and downloaded the app. The website has details of the parks including rides and shows. I meticulously went through all the rides to understand what rides appealed more to us and I kind of put them in a priority order. My kiddies are thrill seekers, so I knew we had to do those rides first. We circled all of the rides we wanted to do before we went. Luckily I got a paper map from Villages Nature, so we circled them the night before and I kept the paper map on me all day.

visit disneyland paris on a budget

We had no idea how long the queue times would be across the parks, so we made a decision about the ride we wanted to do first and then planned our day around that. The ride we decided on first was Avengers Assemble in Disney Studios. We queued up at the Studio gates from 9am, we were about 10th in the queue, and got straight on the ride. I think we queued for about 10 minutes, which was a good start to the day.

By circling the map we were able to visualise a route around both parks that meant we were not walking in zig zags. So we started in Studios, did all the rides we wanted to do by 2pm and then headed over to the main park where we did all of the other rides. When it got to 5pm we had been on most of the rides we had circled.

Download the app

The app was our beacon throughout the day, we had our paper map with us but the app had realtime queue guides. Please note they are not exact, but guides, for some rides it said 5 minutes and there was no queue at all and for some it said 25 minutes but we probably queued for a little longer than that. I think the most we queued was around 40 minutes for Big Thunder Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Tip: Crush’s Coaster

If you really want to go on Crush’s Coaster in Disney Studio’s do this first, or if you have magic hour do it then. The queue was always an hour and a half (at least) throughout the day!

We didn’t queue for Crush’s Coaster and so we missed out, had I have known how busy the ride was we would have done that first. I think the reason it is so popular is because it’s a Big Thrill ride but has a lower minimum height, so smaller children are safe on it.

visit disneyland paris on a budget

This photo is of Big Thunder Mountain as the sun set, it was taken on my iPhone and has no filter. Doesn’t it look amazing. This ride was one of my favourites.

Watch the rides on YouTube

We spent an hour watching all of the rides we had circled on YouTube the day before. Not only did this add to the hype and excitement, it gave us a good understanding of what we were signing up for with each ride. I found the DLP Welcome channel really useful. We loved watching Avengers Assemble before we went, it gives you a little indication as to what to expect – but NOTHING compares to the feeling of the ride. I have watched Tower of Terror a few times since coming home too, that ride is another level!

Tip: Take a rucksack

You are allowed to take a rucksack with food and drinks in it and you can take them on the rides. Yes, even the ones that go upside down! On 99% of the rides we were asked to put our rucksacks between our legs, the only one that required us to put our bags in a locker type facility was the RC Racer ride. I assume this is because most of the other rides have more than 1 car that operates and/or it stops in a different location to where it starts. RC Racer has one car and stops/starts in the same place. (PS, it is a great ride).

The website also breaks down all the eateries too. So you can see what themed food the restaurants serve, whether they cater for vegetarians (important for us obviously) and you can see the menus. This means you can plan your food costs before you travel. We went to Colonel Hathi’s Outpost Restaurant as we love Italian food and the meal deal was very appealing. I knew where it was located, as it’s on the map/app and we planned our evening meal around being near that restaurant. We ate around 7pm and there was no queue at all.

Our evening meal cost €60 , this was 3 x Menu 2 and a kids meal for Isla. The Mickey Mouse Pizza was just adorable – we needed the carbs after all of our walking. We took rolls with us for lunch and had drinks and snacks in our rucksack for throughout the day. We had breakfast at Disney Village too, as we had got to the park so early!

Tip: Shows and Parades

If you want to see any shows/parades, make sure to get a spot at least 30 minutes before it starts as Main Street USA gets very busy.

visit disneyland paris on a budget

For the parade at 5:30pm, I managed to get ( in my opinion ) the best spot on Main Street USA as I got to see the parade coming around the corner to my right, and going around the corner to my left. The map below shows our exact spot. This is where the parade ends, you see the same characters and vehicles, so I wasn’t fussed about standing by the start. There is a pavement with a crossing point that had a dropped kerb, we sat on the pavement where the crossing point starts. Staff vigilantly kept people off the dropped kerb area until literally 5:30pm (so people can cross from entrance to pavilion) and this meant I didn’t get any one trying to stand in front of me or push me out of the way. The sun was also behind me which meant I didn’t have to battle with the sun rays and I got a great view of all the parades! I felt very lucky as it was a perfect spot, X marks the spot below:

We stood by the pavilion to watch the Disney Electrical Sky Parade and fireworks from 10:50pm. It was a great post as meant we could leave the park quickly and we didn’t get stuck in a huge queue at 11:30pm.

Drones = Disney Electrical Sky Parade starts at 10:50pm. Fireworks = Disney Dreams! Nighttime extravaganza starts at 11pm. Evening drones and fireworks display times

Accommodation

We didn’t stay at the park or in a Disney hotel, we had planned to stay off site and incorporate Disneyland Paris into our holiday that way. We stayed at Eurocamp La Croix du Vieux Pont for the weekend, this has shuttles dedicated to taking people to DLP and we also stayed at Villages Nature, which is on the bus route 47, it costs €2.50 per person each way and there are buses every 30 minutes throughout the day. We left Villages Nature at 7:20am and got back at 12:40am. We made sure we understood the bus timetable before we left, so we knew what time to get to the bus stop in the morning and what time it would come back (what the latest time was too). Wherever you stay, there are so many options near DLP, make sure you check out the routes to and from so you don’t have to worry about that on the day.

Final tip: The shops

The World of Disney store, by the entrance, opens at 9am until 1am. This means you will have plenty of time to grab your goodies after the fireworks.

There are so many other tips I have from our trip to Disneyland Paris, but this is my what to do if you are going for 1 day post. There is so much to see and do that it is impossible to do it all. So, you have to make decisions and prioritise the things you want to do most and anything else is a huge bonus.

Disneyland Paris on a Budget: 6 tips for a cheaper trip

Disneyland Paris on a budget

There’s no getting away from it; a trip to Disneyland Paris isn’t the cheapest. I have been many times (my family are big Disney fans), and some expenses are unavoidable.

However , I do think that for the amount of entertainment, rides, shows and parades included in the ticket price, you can get good value for your money. Also, there are ways to cut costs while still enjoying a fun-filled trip!

I’ve put together a list of ways you can avoid spending additional £££ on your trip. You’ll still have a fantastic time!

[Savinginlondoncity.com uses affiliate links. which means that if you click through to a website and register or purchase something, I get a commission from that sale at no extra cost to you. However, all opinions and reviews are my own!]

1. Pack a picnic

Breakfast, in particular, is a meal that I recommend preparing in advance. Options such as individually wrapped brioche, pain au chocolates, filled pancakes, cereal bars or breakfast biscuits are super easy for a quick handheld breakfast on the go. Throw in a few cartons of juice or Capri sun, and you have breakfast for the whole family, easily saving around ten euro per person, per morning.

Not only will packing breakfast save you money, but I find that everyone is eager to get to the parks and get their day started! A sit down service breakfast is likely to add another hour to your morning.

Alternatively, you can always eat your breakfast snacks on the road or in your first queue. Disney nerds, you will know that every hour is precious in the parks!

The last time I visited Disneyland Paris I stayed at the Sequioa Lodge resort and we were given credits for the hot drink machine for every day of our stay. For those staying on site, pop down to a vending machine to pick up your free coffee to enjoy along with your breakfast!

The park catering can be pricey, and taking time to eat 3 large sit down meals isn’t really necessary, so packing a few snacks and drinks per person will save money, as well as time spent queuing.

2. Buy your souvenirs ahead of your trip

If you have kids, be prepared that the shops and stalls can be very tempting, with endless interesting merchandise to lure you in.

The toys in particular can be expensive, so if you have younger children you could pick up some cheaper souvenirs from home to give to your children at the end of each day if you want to avoid spending lots of money (and time) in the shops.

Mickey mouse ears or character caps can also be bought ahead of your trip. This is particularly important if you have a lot to buy!

For Disney branded clothing or bags, try searching on Vinted ahead of your trip. Items are likely to have been worn once or twice in the parks, and if you know you won’t get too much wear out of them back home, this is a great way to save, and you could possibly even sell your items on afterwards.

Lastly, if your family are keen to meet characters, avoid the overpriced signature books and take photos with the characters instead. Print your photos and make a scrapbook filled with memories (keep your tickets and a park map too). Use an app like Photobox to print 50 photos for free every month (just pay delivery). It’s a better souvenir than signatures!

3. Compare your options to get the best prices

If you are not bothered about staying onsite, there are plenty of off site hotels to be found at bargain prices. Check to see which hotels offer free shuttles, as this can be really useful and will avoid the need for Ubers.

Attraction Tickets Direct run regular promotions, and currently customers can get access to Disney Plus with all ticket bookings, as well as 10 free prints! Make the most of any offers or freebies to get the best deal for your money.

On a previous trip I stayed at Les Villages Nature Paris, which has a Center Parks feel. There is plenty of outdoor activities for families including a petting zoo, huge swimming pool, horse riding, bikes to rent and more. This package worked out to be quite reasonable, particularly if you want to spend some time away from the parks.

4. Book via cashback sites

Cashback sites are easy ways to save money on your purchases. Particularly when you are spending a significant amount of money, make sure you are getting cashback!

Quidco and Airtime Rewards are my favourite two cashback sites, but I also use Topcashback and Honey. Take a few minutes to sign up to these sites and start earning cashback on your holiday, as well as any other purchases.

5. Wait for the Eurostar sales

The Eurostar sales usually happen several times a year, usually during January for periods January to March, and again during the summer. During this sale, you can grab tickets from £35 each way.

Unfortunately the sales don’t often include trains directly to Disneyland, however they do include Paris. If you were planning to do a day trip from Paris instead (it takes around 40 minutes to travel from Paris by Train), then you could wait for a sale and bag tickets from as little as £35 each way. Very reasonable!

If you would prefer to drive instead, the prices for the Eurotunnel start from £88, plus petrol costs. Travelling as a family, this could work out cheaper than getting individual train tickets.

Tesco clubcard members can exchange clubcard points for Eurotunnel vouchers to cut costs even further.

6. Visit out of season to avoid buying fastpasses

Paid fastpasses are a recent addition to Disneyland Paris. Any long time Disneyland Paris fans will remember the free fast pass ticketing system! It worked really well in my opinion, but sadly, it seems every Disney park seems to be moving towards a paid model.

Disney Premier Access costs between €5 and €15 for one-time access to skip a single queue line, which can quickly add up.

I have been to several theme parks which have paid fast passes on offer (such as Legoland and Tokyo Disneyland), and found I was able to manage without. Don’t be pressured into thinking you need to purchase these passes – oftentimes, the queues will be reasonable, as long as you plan your day a little and prioritise your top attractions.

When booking, try to avoid the kids’ holidays if you can, as the parks will be quieter.  January to March tends to be the cheapest and quietest time to visit, and there are often promotions during these months, but it can be bitterly cold!

May is a good time to visit overall, to avoid bad weather, intense crowds and it’s not the most expensive, either.

Final thoughts: Disneyland Paris on a Budget: 6 tips for a cheaper trip

If you are planning a Disneyland Paris trip on a budget, these tips should help cut down costs whilst still making wonderful memories.

I think a big part of travel is to try new things and gain experiences. You don’t want to scrimp so that the trip no longer feels like a treat and an escape from your day to day life! If you want the mickey shaped ice cream, spend the euros and enjoy it! You could try side hustling a little extra cash to enable the odd splurge here and there.

Disneyland Paris vs. US: What are the differences?

P ARIS (NEXSTAR) – Welcome to Main Street, U.S.A. in Paris. If you’ve been to Disney World in Florida or Disneyland in California, Disneyland Paris likely looks familiar. But there are many unique aspects of the French park that have been enchanting children and adults alike since the early ’90s.

From the lush flowers and landscaping to the colorful shops on Main Street U.S.A., and the nostalgic touches that make you feel like a kid again, it’s no wonder 50,000 people walk through the gates every single day.

Along with the castles found around the French countryside, there is also a bespoke version of Sleeping Beauty’s castle.

“It would seem silly for all those European audience to come here to see something they have in their own country,” Imagineer Laurent Cayuela explained. “So, the challenge was do the most magical castle without any castle influences.”

Accordingly, Disney Imagineers pulled their inspiration from different sources.

“So, for example, the shape of the castle is Le Mont-Saint-Michel, which is a monastery in Normandy.”

Along with Main Street, you’ll find a Parisian streetscape designed to take you into the Disney Pixar film “Ratatouille.”

“If you look closely at this chimney, for example, they are all a bit crooked because in a cartoon when you draw a line, it can never be exact,” Cayuela pointed out. “So, all this wonderful Paris experience is actually created from the movie.”

Disneyland Paris also has many attractions from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with the Disney Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel.

“It’s actually the only place in the world with an art gallery entirely dedicated to the art of Marvel. We have over 300 artworks,” Cayuela said.

And it’s not just art. They also have Tony Stark himself.

“There is somebody in it,” Laurent said. “Artificial intelligence called Friday has been created by Tony Stark. And we have it here exclusively at Disneyland Paris.”

There’s also a special connection between Disney in the U.S. and Disneyland Paris. The name “Disney” comes from a village in the Normandy region.

“When the ancestors would come, and then they were asked, who are you? Who in France sounds like ‘où’ meaning ‘where.’ So instead of giving them name, they gave the name of the location they were from. So instead of saying we are such and such, they say we are from and then the city is called Isigny. So, they said we are D’Isigny. And that’s how the word Disney is naming.”

And so, just outside the City of Light you’ll also find a little bit of magic.

While the Disney theme parks are all home to incredible rides and attractions, as well as their famous family-friendly atmosphere, there may not be a more magical place to visit than Main Street, U.S.A.

Main Street, U.S.A., is arguably one of the most recognizable and important parts of the Disney theme park experience, with versions of this turn-of-the-century town present at nearly every Disney resort on Earth. As soon as guests enter Disneyland Park or Magic Kingdom , they are instantly transported into a wonderfully realized town full of classic Americana details, shops, stores, cafes, and attractions.

Depending on which Disney theme park guests are visiting, they will find a stunning castle at the end of Main Street, ranging from the massive Cinderella Castle in Florida to the original, miniature-sized Sleeping Beauty Castle in California.

This experience is present at Disneyland Paris , which features an incredibly unique rendition of this iconic Disney theme park area.

“As you enter Disneyland Park, immerse yourself in this charming American town inspired by the childhood home of Walt Disney, full of shops, restaurants and other hidden secrets,” states Disney on the official Disneyland Paris Resort website. “As you approach the end of the street, take in the magical view of the fairytale turrets of Sleeping Beauty Castle stretching up towards the sky.”

At the end of Paris’ Main Street, guests will find Sleeping Beauty Castle, which is perhaps Disney’s best castle to date. However, several pieces of decor have been retired.

As reported by the DLP Report, the fairy pole decoration package on Main Street has ended.

These pieces of decor have been used for quite a while, meaning certain guests may have grown used to seeing them as they enter Disney World. There is currently no word on when Main Street, U.S.A., will return to normal at Disneyland Paris, with the entire resort undergoing changes.

In recent months, guests have seen several iconic locations, like the LEGO Store and Planet Hollywood, shut down as this large-scale renovation project continues at Disneyland Paris

Earlier this year, Walt Disney Studios’ Studio 1 location closed permanently as part of the park’s total transformation. Disneyland Paris is comprised of two theme parks, the original Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. The former has been in operation since 1992, with Walt Disney Studios Park officially opening in 2002.

This theme park has been highly critiqued since it opened, with some fans calling it the “worst” Disney theme park on Earth. While Walt Disney Studios has plenty of rides and attractions to offer guests, guests take issue with the park’s theme itself.

Walt Disney Studios took inspiration from Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park at Walt Disney World, with the park originally focusing on giving guests “behind the scenes” looks at filmmaking. Over time, this theme became more and more antiquated, and with the release of newer attractions and lands like Avengers Campus, it became clear that Walt Disney Studios needed a fresh start.

As part of the renovations, Disneyland Paris announced that this theme park would be getting a new name to better match this new era. Soon, Walt Disney Studios will be known as Disney Adventure World, theoretically giving Disney more creative freedom to create and design rides without being limited to this Hollywood backlot theme.
