Where does Disney sail?

Disney's fleet of cruise ships, disney cruise costs, how to save money on a disney cruise, disney cruise costs, recapped.

If you’ve caught yourself researching Disney cruises lately, we don’t blame you — with waterslides galore and a reputation for luxury, Disney cruises can be a lot of fun. But they can also be pricey, and those costs can add up if you’re sailing with multiple people.

If you’ve been asking, “How much is a Disney cruise?,” we have the answer for you. Let’s look at the options for cruises, how much they cost and ways you can make them more affordable.

disney cruise price 2023

No matter where you’re looking to go, Disney likely has a cruise for you. Sure, you won’t find ships heading to Antarctica, but there are still plenty of destinations from which to choose, including:

New Zealand.

Pacific Coast.

Panama Canal.

South Pacific.

Trans-Atlantic.

Many of these destinations are oriented toward North American travelers, but you’ll find options scattered all over the world.

» Learn more: Is cruise travel insurance worth the cost?

Despite its wide variety of destinations, Disney operates only six ships. Its newest ship, the Disney Treasure, is set to launch in December 2024.

Along with the Disney Treasure, you can opt to sail with:

Disney Dream.

Disney Fantasy.

Disney Magic.

Disney Wonder.

Disney Wish.

So, how much should you save to cover Disney cruise costs? The short answer: It depends.

No, that’s probably not what you want to hear, but it’s the truth. The price of a Disney cruise is going to be influenced by a variety of factors, including:

Where you’re going.

The trip’s duration.

Which Disney ship you’re on.

How many people you’re traveling with.

The type of stateroom you book.

Any add-ons or specialty bookings you choose.

If you’re looking for an all-out experience, it’s pretty easy to rack up a big bill. Disney cruises are well known as an expensive option, but tacking on high-end touches such as a concierge room and spa visits will really drive up the price.

disney cruise price 2023

The cheapest cruises you’ll find tend to sail from San Diego, and they’re the shortest trips as well. We searched for sailings across the calendar and found the cheapest rates rang in at $1,326 for two guests in an inside room on a three-night trip from San Diego.

disney cruise price 2023

In contrast, the most expensive cruise we found was a 10-night option that travels through Iceland, Norway, France and Denmark. The price tag came in at $6,489 for two guests in an inside cabin and rose to $28,089 for a concierge-level room.

There’s no denying that Disney cruises can be expensive. However, there are ways you can save money on your booking.

Find discounted sailings

disney cruise price 2023

This first option seems obvious, but you’ll want to specifically search for discounted sailings. Although Disney doesn’t always offer sales, if they are available, you'll find them on the Disney cruise line page — just click “Show special offer filters” when searching.

disney cruise price 2023

The special offers filter will let you know what types of discounts are available, like the example above promoting up to 35% off on select sailings.

Skip the add-ons

The base fare for these trips includes almost everything, so if you’re looking to drop the cost of a Disney cruise, consider avoiding add-ons. This means skipping out on things like wine tastings and specialty drinks as well as forgoing dinner at Palo, the adults-only Italian restaurant that comes with additional costs.

Instead, enjoy the plethora of complimentary activities, such as pools, movies, shows, karaoke, dancing and more. And when it comes to food and beverage, simply sip the included soda and coffee, eat the (already amazing) free food and don’t forget to order a Mickey ice cream bar with your complimentary room service.

Disney is notable in that it also allows you to bring your own alcohol on board. Each guest older than 21 can bring up to two bottles of wine or six cans of beer when they first board and at every port of call. Considering that alcohol on the ship can be pretty expensive, this is a good way to save money.

Use a promotion

disney cruise price 2023

Do you live in Florida or Southern California? Or perhaps you’re a member of the U.S. military ? If any of these apply to you, you may have special access to discounted Disney cruise prices.

disney cruise price 2023

You’ll be able to find these deals via that special offers filter shown above. For example, that three-night San Diego sailing mentioned above dropped from $1,326 to $1,164 once we selected the U.S. military filter.

Redeem points

Last, but certainly not least, is the option to redeem your points for a Disney cruise. While there’s no good way to transfer points directly, there are still ways you can use points toward your booking.

The most convenient way is by using a credit card that’ll wipe away your travel costs. Plenty of cards have this feature, but two fairly decent ones are the Bank of America® Premium Rewards® credit card and the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card . Both cards will allow you to redeem your points toward purchases at a rate of 1 cent per point.

Even better, these redemptions can be stacked with other discounts, allowing you to drop your costs even more. For example, a member of the U.S. military can redeem 116,400 Capital One Miles to pay for their entire cruise, an excellent double dip that saves money and miles.

» Learn more: 7 tips for getting the best deal on your next cruise

The cost of a Disney cruise can vary dramatically based on your needs and sailing preferences. However, you should expect to spend at least $1,000 on a cruise for two passengers. The price goes up from there depending on your cabin selection, trip duration and destination choices, among other options.

If you’re looking to save money on a Disney cruise, consider waiting for a sale, checking relevant discounts or redeeming points to help keep your out-of-pocket costs low. And if you like to enjoy an alcoholic beverage every once in a while, we recommend bringing your preferred drink with you on board.

Summer 2023 Disney Cruise Line Itineraries

disney cruise price 2023

Disney Cruise Line announced itineraries through Summer 2023 for the Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy legacy ships, plus the brand-new Disney Wish! There are sailings to popular ports of call in the Greek Isles, Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Alaska, and the Caribbean. This post covers the destinations, followed by commentary on pricing, our recommended destinations, and why we’ll be booking on opening day instead of waiting for a deal.

Note that “opening day” booking for the general public will begin on May 9, 2022. (Do not call today–these itineraries cannot be booked yet by anyone.) Prior to that, there will be a staggered advance booking period beginning next Monday. Here’s the eligibility timeline:

  • May 2, 2022 – Platinum Castaway Club Members, Golden Oak Club Residents
  • May 3, 2022 – Gold Castaway Club Members
  • May 5, 2022 – Silver Castaway Club Members, Disney Vacation Club Members, Adventures by Disney Insiders
  • May 9, 2022 – All Guests

If you’re an existing member, Disney Cruise Line recommends that you log in to your account now to verify your Castaway Club status, so you’ll be all set to book on your designated date. You can also call (866) 784-1592 starting at 8:00 AM Eastern Time, or contact your travel agent.

Disney Dream Marks Inaugural Season in Europe  – For its first-ever summer season in Europe, the Disney Dream will call on a wide variety of destinations among the most treasured in the world. With sailings anywhere from 4 to 11 nights, the Disney Dream will sail from Barcelona and Rome to picturesque ports of call throughout the Mediterranean, including a first-ever seven-night sailing to the Greek Isles with stops in the ever-popular ports of Santorini and Mykonos.

Starting in late Summer 2023 and continuing through early fall, departures of the Disney Dream from Southampton will feature cruises to a wealth of destinations including Spain, France, the British Isles, Norway and Iceland. New ports of call include the picturesque La Rochelle, France and two new ports in Norway, Skjolden and Sandnes.

disney cruise price 2023

Summer 2023 sailings to Alaska aboard Disney Wonder  – The breathtaking natural beauty of Alaska will combine with the magic of Disney on 5, 7 and 9-night sailings on the Disney Wonder from Vancouver, Canada. Beginning in May 2023, cruisers will be invited to discover exciting ports like Ketchikan and Skagway, with their prehistoric glaciers, gold mining relics and spectacular land- and sea-life.

Three Alaskan itineraries call at Icy Strait Point, home to a coastal rainforest, wilderness tours and ziplining above the treetops.

disney cruise price 2023

Tropical Escapes to the Bahamas and Caribbean from Florida  – Sun-splashed tropical isles throughout the Bahamas and Caribbean will await guests on three Disney Cruise Line ships from Florida in summer 2023.

For its first full summer of sailing, the Disney Wish will homeport in Port Canaveral near Orlando for a series of three- and four-night Bahamas cruises to Nassau and Disney’s private island oasis, Castaway Cay. The Disney Wish will feature exciting new additions including Disney’s first “Frozen”-themed theatrical dining experience and AquaMouse, a wild water adventure and first-ever Disney attraction at sea.

disney cruise price 2023

Port Canaveral will also be the departure point for the Disney Fantasy for sailings ranging in length from five to 10 nights. In addition to seven-night cruises to popular ports in the eastern and western Caribbean, guests will also be able to experience a five-night Bahamian sailing with back-to-back calls at Castaway Cay, a 10-night southern Caribbean itinerary to the islands of Aruba and Bonaire, and an 8-night cruise featuring two days on the beautiful pink sand beaches of Bermuda.

The Disney Magic will make its summer home in Miami for an assortment of destinations. Starting May 27, the Disney Magic will sail 4-night Bahamas cruises and 5-night western Caribbean voyages, followed by two 7-night sailings in July 2023 to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. Select summer voyages aboard the Disney Magic will include double days at Castaway Cay.

disney cruise price 2023

When it comes to commentary, I don’t have a ton to offer that is unique to the Summer 2023 itineraries. Most of it would be rehashed from the last couple of years, even though I haven’t taken a cruise since late 2019. (Sarah has done a couple, but she’s not the one writing this.)

I know we definitely  will be booking one of these, as we have a 50% off future cruise credit from one of our Disney Wish itineraries that was cancelled. Which cruise we choose is subject to, ahem, internal debate , but we’re both in agreement that “going big” makes sense given the size of the savings. Leading candidates as of right now are to the Greek Isles or Northern Europe; both have many ‘new to us’ destinations that are on our travel bucket lists.

disney cruise price 2023

If you’re looking for a recommendation, pretty much everyone who has done one will shower the Alaska itineraries with praise. To be sure, that’s one of the better trips we’ve taken. It’s also pretty approachable.

However, our all-time favorite cruise is the Norwegian Fjords itinerary–by a pretty wide margin. We cover the similarities and differences in Norway v. Alaska Cruises , but the bottom line is that for us, Norway was much better. Others we know who have done both give the edge to Alaska–you really can’t go wrong either way.

disney cruise price 2023

Much like Walt Disney World on discount drop day, Disney Cruise Line’s phones will be jammed and the online system will likely slow to a crawl at peak times. Please do not exacerbate this by calling on a day before you’re eligible; they won’t make an exception and let you cut the line. It’ll just waste everyone’s time, including yours.

It’s always a good idea to use an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner to do the work for you, but especially for opening day bookings. For one thing, using them to book your cruise is a great way to save time and stress. For another, their services are free to you since they’re paid commission by DCL on the reservation.

disney cruise price 2023

Every year opening day price-points make waves on social media once they’re available to book for Platinum Castaway Club members, as prices always jump. This is not really a surprise at this point, but it’s nonetheless easy to be taken aback when first seeing each year’s prices…especially if you remember what prices were 5 years ago.

With that said, it’s worth noting that opening day stateroom rates are largely on the lower end of the historical pricing spectrum. As itineraries start to book up and stateroom inventory becomes more scarce, rates invariably increase. Pricing is demand-based, with cruises in recent years rarely decreasing in price–increases are far more common.

disney cruise price 2023

We’ve scored some good deals on Disney Cruise Line over the years (and cover how you can do the same in our How to Save Money on Disney Cruise Line Sailings post), but have had less luck since 2018 (with the exception of last fall and winter, when Sarah scored some exceptional deals).

With the sailings out of Florida–especially Port Canaveral–the odds of prices dropping are stacked against you. Normally, there’s a high probability that opening day prices are the cheapest that those sailings will ever be. Of course, this is assuming pent-up demand and the global economy remain strong heading into 2023, and that’s hardly a sure thing at this point.

disney cruise price 2023

Ultimately, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with Disney Cruise Line, just like all other aspects of travel. With that 50% future cruise credit, we’ll likely hedge our bets and book as soon as we’re eligible on May 2 (assuming we can settle on an itinerary between now and then).

If we didn’t have that, I think we actually might wait this time. Not because I necessarily think a recession is on the horizon, but because I think that–at minimum–the bulk of pent-up demand, excess household savings, stimulus money, and so forth will largely be exhausted by next summer. Even if that’s correct, it doesn’t mean the return of deep discounts, but it could spell some relief from the high prices of travel. Or perhaps all of that is simply wishful thinking on my part, and this summer’s stratospheric pricing will be even worse in Summer 2023.

Finally taking our 2020 Mediterranean cruise this June, fingers crossed. We’ve done the Caribbean and one one-way Mediterranean cruise before but this one going to the Greek isles is our dream. We are sooo excited, the additional cruise credit for cancellations helps, prices have gone up so much, it’s hard to justify a future one, even though I will say the service and food quality are outstanding. But got to try the Wish!

How Much Is a Disney Cruise?

Disney Cruise Line is an excellent choice for families and couples who want to experience the magic of Disney at sea. That said, these premier cruises do come with a premier price tag. How much do Disney cruises cost, what are the factors that contribute to its price, and how can you save on your next Disney cruise? Let’s investigate Disney Cruise Prices!

Factors Affecting the Price of a Disney Cruise Fare

Nemo's Reef on Disney cruise ship

Nemo’s Reef on Disney cruise ship

Prices can vary based on many considerations. Let’s start by looking at a few examples to illustrate how much Disney cruises cost for 2023, then we’ll examine what contributes to the prices.

How Much is a Disney Cruise? 2023 Examples of Disney Cruise Prices:

  • Disney Wonder ’s 3-Night Baja Disney Cruise from San Diego , sailing Thursday, March 16 to Sunday, March 19, costs $3,421 for an Inside stateroom, $2,897 for an Oceanview stateroom, $3,779 for a Verandah stateroom, and $5,891 Concierge stateroom. These prices are for 2 adults and 2 children, including taxes and fees.
  • Disney Magic ’s 4-Night Western Caribbean Cruise from New Orleans, sailing Thursday, February 23 to  Monday, February 27, costs $3,421 for an Inside stateroom, $3,669 for an Oceanview stateroom, $4,197 for a Verandah stateroom, and $7,453 Concierge stateroom, for 2 adults and 2 children, with taxes and fees.
  • Disney Dream ’s 5-Night Bahamian Cruise from Miami (with 2 Stops at Disney Castaway Cay ), sailing from Monday, April 10 to Saturday, April 15, costs $3,390 for an Inside stateroom, $3,530 for an Oceanview stateroom, $3,850 for a Verandah stateroom, and $9,310 Concierge stateroom. These prices are for 2 adults and include taxes and fees.

Note: Quoted prices can change quickly; contact The Vacationeer for updated pricing and more information for these 2023 Disney Cruise itineraries. They also have some of the best Disney Cruise onboard credit in the business and can provide an exact quote for how much a Disney cruise will cost for your family.

Why is there such a wide range in the Disney Cruise cost? Many variables affect the base fare for a Disney cruise.

General factors that affect the base cruise fare price include:

  • Ship – In general, newer, larger ships with the latest innovations and newest features have higher fares than older, smaller ships that may not be as updated. While all Disney Cruise Line ships are outstanding, the newest and largest ship, Disney Wish , commands higher fares than the oldest, smallest vessel, Disney Magic . At times, however, older ships may still have higher fares, if they have recently been renovated or if they are offering longer, more elaborate itineraries.
  • Length of Cruise – It is no surprise that longer cruises naturally have higher prices. Three and four-night sailings are generally less expensive overall, but their per-night price may actually be higher than longer sailings. Disney offers cruises that range from 3-night weekend sailings to extravagant voyages of 14 nights or longer.
  • Itinerary – Where a cruise ship travels will affect the fare price. Cruise lines have financial agreements with ports of call, and pay different amounts to dock at piers depending on the available facilities, the size of the ship, and how long it will be docked. These port fees are passed along to passengers. A cruise that visits more ports will naturally have higher total port fees than a cruise with fewer calls. The Home Port (where the ship starts and ends its journey) also matters; sailing out of New York might be more expensive than a Disney Cruise from Galveston , and a cruise from New Orleans would have a different price than a similar cruise sailing out of Miami .   Disney cruises visit ports around the world , including sailings in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Mexico, Alaska , Hawaii , and more, all at different prices.
  • Passengers – Unlike most hotel reservations which charge a flat rate per room, cruise fares are per person .   — so cruising with a family of four people will cost more than cruising with just two or three. The oldest two people in the room are always charged the full adult rate regardless of age. Any additional passengers in the same stateroom pay fares based on their ages , and even infants are charged a cruise fare . If you’re cruising solo, you’ll likely have to pay a so-called “single supplement” because you don’t have two people in your room and prices are quoted based on double occupancy.
  • Sailing Date – Just like prices of other types of travel fluctuate throughout the year, the price of Disney cruises will also fluctuate based on sailing date . When family cruise vacations are more popular, such as during school vacations or holidays, demand for traveling is greater and prices will be higher. In general, cruises early in the year, after the Christmas and New Year holiday season but before spring break vacations, are the least expensive. Early fall cruises, after school begins but before Halloween kicks off the year-end holiday experiences, can also be more affordable.
  • Stateroom Type – The most important factor affecting the cost of a cruise, including Disney cruise vacations, is the type of stateroom selected. Smaller rooms with fewer amenities – typically interior cabins – are less expensive, but larger rooms with balconies or verandahs are more expensive. The most elaborate cabins, the concierge suites, offer the greatest amenities and most space, but at the highest prices.

Costs Not Included in the Disney Cruise Fare

The cruise fare, while often the bulk of cruise vacation expenses, is not the trip’s complete cost. When booking a Disney cruise , it is important to understand what additional costs are necessary – some required, some optional – to budget properly for the vacation.

  • Travel to the Port – Unless guests are fortunate enough to live close to a Disney cruise ship’s home port , the travel costs just to reach the cruise can add up quickly. Depending on how travelers reach the port, this may include airfare, airport transfers , hotel rooms, gas costs, parking fees, toll roads, and other charges, both before and after the cruise.
  • Taxes and Port Fees – In addition to the published fare price, cruise passengers are also assessed government taxes and port fees for their voyage. These will vary depending on the ship’s itinerary, how long the voyage lasts, and where the cruise begins and ends. At times, fuel surcharges may also be part of these fees.
  • Gratuities – While not required, it is customary to pay gratuities to the crew members who make cruise vacations so memorable. Disney Cruise Line makes this easy with the option to pre-pay gratuities prior to sailing, or guests can have gratuities automatically added to their shipboard accounts. The suggested amount as of July 2022 is $14.50 per day, per cruise passenger , which is divided up among the stateroom host and dining staff (this fee may be slightly higher in suites, which have more dedicated staff and a greater range of services). Additional gratuities for room service, Port Adventures, and other services are always at guests’ discretion.
  • Specialty Drinks and Dining – While there are abundant free drinks and dining options available on all Disney cruises , specialty options do have extra charges. This includes alcoholic beverages , smoothies, specialty coffees, and bottled water, as well as premium dining choices such as the adults-only restaurants (Palo, Remy, etc.), and sweets purchased at themed shops onboard, such as sundaes from Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats aboard Disney Dream or similar shops on other ships.
  • Premium Activities – Every cruise is packed with fun from bow to stern, and many activities such as trivia contests, dance parties, group competitions, character meetings, and extravagant stage shows are all included in the cruise fare. Certain premium activities, however, do have extra charges. These include magical makeovers, wine tastings, spa treatments, personal fitness training, bingo games, and exclusive events that include personalization and commemorative gifts, such as the Royal Court Royal Tea experience.
  • Port Adventures – When guests leave the cruise ship for explorations in port, extra costs are expected. The guided Port Adventures are not included in the cruise fare, but can be well worth the cost as these tours have been investigated by the cruise line and are designed to help guests explore ports safely and hassle-free. While they’re always optional, Port Adventures on some itineraries (such as Disney’s Alaska excursions ) truly enhance the trip. Tips to port tour guides and drivers are customary, but always at guests’ discretion.
  • Souvenirs – All souvenirs to commemorate a Disney cruise vacation are additional expenses to plan for. This may include photos taken by ship photographers, as well as different items purchased in shops, such as t-shirts, toys, magnets, hats, jewelry, photo frames, and much more, with many items exclusively available only onboard Disney ships. Similarly, souvenir items purchased in ports of call are also additional vacation budget expenses. Guests should also be aware that “forgotten” items can be purchased onboard – charging cables, sunscreen, batteries, hygiene products, etc. – but at very premium prices.
  • WiFi Access – Our lives today are highly digital, and even on vacation many travelers want to stay up-to-date with social media, email, and favorite blogs or websites. The WiFi access on Disney cruise ships does have extra fees, which vary based on the type of plan guests choose. Different plans permit different numbers of devices to connect or may feature different levels of connectivity, which allows travelers to choose the exact plan that meets their needs. All guests can use onboard WiFi for free for the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app , which can help them organize their fun by making reservations, viewing daily activities, accessing deck plans, and more.
  • Laundry – While few guests ever want to do household chores while on vacation, running a load or two of laundry may be necessary, especially when packing conservatively to save luggage space. All Disney cruise ships have self-service laundry facilities on board, but there is a charge to use the machines. Coins are not necessary, however, as the machines are paid via guests’ shipboard accounts. Full-service laundry and dry cleaning services are also available onboard, for additional charges.
  • Travel Protection – Travel plans can change in an instant, and a last-minute illness, injury, job loss, or another issue could disrupt even the most carefully laid vacation plans. Furthermore, travel delays en route to the port could result in missing the ship, while accidents or illnesses could happen during the cruise . Travel protection insurance is highly recommended for all travelers to safeguard their vacation investment but is an extra fee based on the conditions of the cruise, the number of travelers, and the type of protection selected.

Saving on a Disney Cruise

With so many extra charges that are not included in a basic fare, the cruise vacation deal that may have seemed relatively inexpensive to start can quickly become much more costly than anticipated. Fortunately, there are also many ways to save , protecting a vacation budget without sacrificing the Disney magic of the getaway.

Working with an authorized Disney Vacation Planner is the best way to save, as these experts can access bonuses and promotional offers such as free stateroom upgrades, included ship credits, and more, which can all bring down the overall cost of the vacation. Expert planners can also help advise eager travelers on the best Disney cruise ships and itineraries to meet and exceed their cruise vacation dreams while working within practical budget expectations.

Guests should research their cruise plans and the Disney Cruise cost thoroughly before booking, and be reasonable about their own budget and what they expect to purchase during the cruise. Looking at the cruise as an opportunity to unplug from the digital world can save money on WiFi connection plans, for example, or staying onboard the ship to enjoy all its amazing features instead of spending money on multiple Port Adventures can be a great savings. If the vacation can be planned at a less expensive time of year to set sail, that can also lead to significant savings.

Why Do Disney Cruise Ships Cost More Than Other Cruise Lines?

As travelers research Disney cruises, they may find that setting sail with Disney Cruise Line can be dramatically more expensive than sailing with other major cruise lines. Even when ship sizes and ages, as well as itineraries and ports of call, are all comparable, Disney Cruise Line is still typically more expensive.

This is because Disney Cruise Line is set apart as a premium line, and as such, includes a variety of features directly in the cruise fare , whereas many other cruise lines charge extra fees for the same items. For example, Disney cruises include free 24-hour room service, with an extensive menu that includes selected appetizers, salads, soups, and kid-friendly entrees, such as hot dogs, chicken tenders, burgers, and pizza, as well as a few desserts. Many other cruise lines charge for room service, may have fees for room service at certain times of day, or may not offer as complete a menu.

Similarly, soda is included for free on Disney cruises, when it is ordered with meals or from selected locations onboard. Other cruise lines charge individually for all sodas or offer drinks packages that include all non-alcoholic beverages but at hefty per-day fees.

Finally, there is no substitute for the Disney cruise experience, which makes the Disney Cruise cost worth it. Magic abounds on every deck with special details to discover throughout the ship, from luxury touches that make the magic come to life for all travelers to total immersion in the world of Disney, the fun of hidden Mickeys onboard each of the line’s vessels, cruise ship funnels that “sing” classic Disney tunes, and the ability to indulge in the youthful magic all ages can enjoy. Disney cruises are more expensive, yes, but the price is well worthwhile for the amazing experience that awaits.

How Much Does a Disney Cruise Cost? + Money Saving Tips

After sailing on 15 Disney Cruises , I think the most common question we statement we hear is, “I’ve always wanted to go on one, but how much does a Disney Cruise cost? Disney Cruise Lines has some of the most premier ships at sea and with that does come with a premium price.

We are here to break down how much a Disney cruise costs, what’s included, a look at Disney Cruise Prices in 2023, and if the higher price is really worth it.

What’s Included in the Price of Your Disney Cruise

How much does a disney cruise cost

When you are looking at how much a Disney Cruise costs, I think one of the main factors you have to take in is how much stuff is included in a  Disney Cruise.

Passengers on Disney Cruises can expect the full Disney experience throughout their trip. Let’s take a look at everything that is included in your Disney Cruise sailing.

Broadway Musicals & First Run Movies

“Tangled: The Musical” is the newest original Disney Cruise Line stage spectacular. Presented exclusively aboard the Disney Magic, it combines a heartfelt story, an enchanting score and lavish production numbers to showcase the thrilling adventure of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider as they face ruffians, thugs and a budding romance on an exhilarating journey of self-discovery. (Ryan Wendler, photographer)

All ships have theaters with live Broadway musicals (and these are seriously amazing musicals) along with unlimited access to movie theaters that offer Disney’s & Marvel’s newest movies.

You’ll often find yourself on board seeing the latest Marvel thriller (we saw Black Panther onboard right when it was released) or a brand new Pixar film.

Incredible Meals with a splash of Disney Magic

Meals are included with your cruise fare. Each ship has rotational dining where you will visit one of three restaurants each night. Your waiter travels with you as you dine at each new location, and the waiters on the ship are truly a blast. Many have done magic tricks for our kids and all are the most caring people you will meet.

In addition, there is a buffet, and plenty of places to get food around the clock. There are several quick-service spots where my husband loves to grab a pizza, as well as 24-hour room service, where you can even get Mickey Ice Cream bars delivered to the room.

Disney Cruise Cost - Pirate Night Buffet

Unlike most cruises on Disney cruises, Guests can also enjoy endless soda for no additional fee. Tea and coffee are also included while aboard in addition to all-you-can-eat soft serve ice cream with all the toppings. The only food which is extra charge is at the fine dining of Palo & Remy and Vanelope’s sweet shop.

The Best Kid’s Club of any cruise line

Youth Club Disney Cruise Deals

If you asked my kids what the one thing that they love about a Disney cruise is, it would be the Kid’s Club. In our rankings of top cruise ships, Disney Cruise Kid’s Club blows every other cruise out of the water (no pun intended).

My kids are not the type of kids who like to stray off and go to a kids club but Disney’s is out of this world. There is no comparison to any other cruise line out there. The themed rooms are amazing and the staff is incredible.

Character Experiences

There is no other ship at sea that offers the character experiences Disney Cruise offers. You may find yourself casually strolling by Captain Hook or Peter Pan. Characters have several photo opportunities scheduled throughout the day, where you can get your picture taken with your favorite character.

Disney Cruise Character Experiences

Plus, in the kids club characters will come and visit and play with the kids. So, if your family loves Disney characters, there are plenty on board to interact with.

Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay Cabana Family Cabana View

If you are sailing on a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas or the Caribbean, included in your fare, is a visit to Disney’s Private Island, Castaway Cay . This island is amazing with beautiful beaches, water slides, snorkeling and so much more.

The best part is all the food, just like on the cruise is included. It will definitely be one of your favorite stops on the cruise. For an extra cost you can get a Castaway Cay Cabana , these cost quite a bit but if you can afford it, they are simply amazing.

If you love running, Disney Castaway Cay has a 5K to start off the day. It’s a fun way to get started on one of the best days of the cruise.

How Much Will a Disney Cruise Cost in 2023 & 2024?

So, what we did is break down what a Disney Cruise costs on average for a family of 4 with several different itineraries. These prices are total including all taxes for a family of 4. All of these cruises are priced based on inside, oceanview, and verandah cabins.

We did not include the concierge level , because that’s on a whole different level. While the inside to verandah cabins are all fairly close in price. After we go over some costs, we will break down how to find the best deal.

Now, normally how much a Disney Cruise costs goes up each year, but in 2023 we expect prices to remain the same, except for the new Disney Wish! Plus, be on the lookout for more special offers to get people to return to cruising.

My BEST TIPS to Save you Time & Money when Booking a Disney Cruise

Tip #1 – I actually learned this tip from our travel agent, but the #1 thing to do when booking a Disney Cruise is to book early. 99% of the time prices go up as the ship fills up. So the earlier you book, the better deal you are going to get.

We went on a cruise this past summer and paid a little over $4,100 for a verandah cabin on a 7-night cruise, our friends went to book last minute and had to pay $3,000 more for an inside cabin. So, put down the deposit early and then your final payment isn’t due until 120 days before the cruise.

Tip # 2 – This one might surprise you but it is my best tip. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT, book directly through the Disney Cruise site, you are wasting time and Money!

I know, it seems like you would get a better deal, right? But the fact of the matter is you do all the work and you pay the exact same price (if not more) versus if you went through a travel agent.

Plus, a travel agent is trying to earn your business, so they will have all sorts of perks to have you use them. Here is what you will get:

  • You will get the same price, if not better (they know all the specials going on)
  • Some sort of bonus like Stateroom Credit = FREE MONEY – Stateroom Credit is money you can use for spending onboard like Spa Services, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Specialty Dining & More – I have received $800 on one cabin in the past
  • Plus, they know where the best staterooms are, when you should check-in for your cruise, and what documents you need and they send you reminders.
  • They will save you hours and hours of planning

Our favorite travel agency is Best Day Ever Vacations , they specialize in Disney travel and they even have a place on their site where you can find all the unadvertised Disney Cruise Deals are have some amazing deals, but please do yourself a favor and use a travel agent for your next Disney Cruise

How much does a Disney Cruise Cost

3 Night Caribbean Cruise

A 3-Night Disney Cruise can surprisingly range widely in price. You can look at paying from $2,600 – $6,300 on a 3-night Caribbean cruise.

So, you are looking at $216-$525 per person per day.

4 Night Caribbean Cruise

A 4-Night Caribbean Cruise can range from $3,400 – $6,700. You will find that a 4-night cruise is often a better value because it sails during the weekdays, so if you have the ability to miss some weekdays, take a 4-night cruise.

A 4 night averages out to $212-$418 per person per day .

7-Night Caribbean & European Cruise

For a family of four, a 7 Night Cruise will range from $5,300 – $10,000. The 7 Night cruises in the Caribbean can be onboard the Magic, Fantasy & the Wonder.  Personally, I would choose the Magic or the Fantasy when in the Caribbean as they have better waterslides.

In Europe, the only option is the Disney Magic, which is the first ship we ever sailed on and one of my favorites.

A 7-night averages out to $189-$397 per person per day .

7 Night Alaska Cruise

Disney Alaska Cruise

The Alaska cruise prices vary much more dramatically by room class, as a Verandah is so sought after. If you are planning to sail to Alaska the prices can range from $6,500 – $17,000 for a 7-night cruise. That comes to $232 to $602 per person.

The inside cabins are much cheaper when it comes to Alaska as they are from about $6500-8000 and the Verandah cabins really vary the most from $8900 all the way up to $17,000 for the same cruise.

How Much Does the New Disney Wish Cost?

The newest Disney ship to set sail is the Disney Wish!

The new Disney Wish began sailing in July 2022. The ship sets sail from Port Canaveral and sails to the Bahamas and Castaway Cay . Currently pricing for the Disney Wish is slightly higher than the other Disney Cruise ships and we anticipate that to last for about a year.

That being said, we absolutely love this ship!

For a Family of 4, a 3-Night sailing will be around $3,000 – $5,000 per sailing which comes to about $250-$450 per person. The 4-Night cruise is typically a better deal as it sails during the week. For 4 nights the pricing for 4 people is $3,400 – $6,600, which comes to $212 – $412 per person.

Extra Disney Cruise Costs to Keep in Mind

Cocktails onboard DIsney Dream

Gratuities run about $40 on a 3-Night Cruise per person,  $54.00 per person for a 4-night cruise, and $94 for a 7-night cruise. 15% Gratuity is also added to any alcoholic purchases.

Shore Excursions & On Cruise Experiences

You definitely do not need to do a shore excursion at every port, but they are quite fun. I would estimate $100 per shore excursion you would like to do. Most times you are able to book shore excursions off the boat

Spa Services & Bibbidy Boppidi Boutique

If you are in the mood for a little R&R then head to the Senses Spa for a wide variety of services. In addition, you can also make your little one a princess with a visit to the Bippidi Boppidi Boutique. Our girls have always loved this boutique! They love picking out their favorite princess dress and getting the full royal treatment. While these services are extra, they are so worth it because it is truly magical seeing their excitement.

Alcohol and Premium Dining

Palo onboard Disney Dream

Alcohol is not included in your fare, so if you are planning on taking in some cocktails, budget appropriately for these expenses. On the Disney Cruises Ships, you can pay a little extra to dine at restaurants like Palo or Remy, which offer top-notch cuisine. Palo is available on 4 Disney Cruise ships, while Remy is only available on the Dream and Fantasy. The Disney Wish also has 2 adult-exclusive restaurants.

How do Disney Cruise Prices compare to other cruise lines

We all see the ads for a 3-night cruise for $299. While that can be great, comparing the $299 cruise to the Disney cruise cost is apples and oranges. If you want to make a fair comparison, take a look at the biggest competitors, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian & Carnival, and look at their newer fleet of ships (less than 7 years old).

There you can see the best that each has to offer. I compared the Disney Fantasy in July to Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas. The prices ended up being between $150-$200 more per person for the Disney Cruise.

How to Save Money on a Disney Cruise

Disney Cruise Cost

Book with a Travel Agent! My #1 Tip!

I know, I mentioned this earlier but I want to reiterate it. I even feel foolish for saying this because this was so against our initial instincts. In fact, we booked our first 8 cruises without a travel agent because we always thought we could get the best deal.

A travel agent can get you the same pricing you will find anywhere else, plus they offer onboard credit to spend on the ship and will help you plan the whole thing.

We use Disney Travel Agents for all our Disney trips because they know Disney Cruises, Disney World, and Disneyland better than I will ever know. I highly recommend their services. Not only do they help with the planning, you get the best deal available and onboard credit!

Disney Cruise Deals – Special Offers

You can find Disney Cruise deals on a page exclusively for Special Offers .

At the time of this article, there is a 7-day cruise for only $116 per person per day. They have special offers for different sailings, military rates, Florida resident rates, and Candian-Resident savings.

*Pro Tip* When you see that special offer, still contact your travel agent because they can get you that offer plus the onboard credit.

Disney Cruise Cost

Book in the Offseason

If you want to save some serious cash, book your cruise in the off-season, basically any time kids are normally in school. You will find the Disney Cruise cost to be lower in September, October, Early November, January, & February. So, if you can sail during those seasons, do it! You will save yourself a ton of money.

If you know the itinerary you want and it is during a peak season like the summer or holiday, book the room as early as you can. Disney Cruise prices rarely go down, especially on peak sailing so the earlier you book the better the price.

Book while on a Cruise

Lastly, if you are sailing on a Disney Cruise and love it, book another one while onboard. You save 10% off the rate, plus give them your travel agent’s info and you’ll still get the bonus 10% plus your travel agent will get you that onboard credit too.

Know what to Pack and Not to Pack!

One of the surprisingly best ways to save money not only on your Disney Cruise, is knowing what to pack. We have a full detailed Disney Cruise packing list , which will let you know everything you can and should bring on board plus things you can’t. (Hint, you can bring some alcohol).

The 5 Disney Cruise Ships

There are four ships in the Disney Cruise Line (5 when the Wish arrives in the Summer of 2022). Each ship has its own unique features and base of operations, but they all offer similar services and amenities.

The Disney Wish

Disney Wish Frozen Dinner & Show

The Disney Wish is the newest of the Disney cruise ships and began sailing in the summer of 2022. The wish has some incredible features like the Frozen and Marvel-themed restaurants, their first ever Disney ride at sea, “The Aqua Mouse” and so much more.

The Disney Wonder

The Disney Wonder sails to Alaska, the Caribbean and the Bahamas. The Wonder is the only ship in the fleet that sails on the West Coast, so you’ll see it docked in San Diego every now and again, which is the only port of call for Disney cruises on the West Coast. The Wonder is popular among superhero fans, as it is home to the Marvel Super Hero Academy and Frozen, A Musical Spectacular.

The Disney Magic

AquaDunk on the Disney Magic is a thrilling new three-story body slide that begins with a surprise launch when the floor beneath guests’ feet opens like a trap door. The drop sends them on an exhilarating, swift and splashy ride in a translucent tube that extends 20 feet over the side of the ship. (Jimmy DeFlippo, photographer)

The Disney Magic has one of the most unique itineraries sailing to the Bahamas and Caribbean, and it’s the only ship that cruises to Europe & the Greek Islands. There you’ll find several enchanting cruises in Northern Europe and around the Mediterranean with exciting port adventures available to guests. Magic is known for Rapunzel’s Royal Table restaurant, Tangled: The Musical and my kid’s favorite water slide the AquaDunk. (Check out our full review here)

The Disney Dream

The Disney Dream can be seen cruising around the Bahamas and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. The Dream typically sails 3 and 4 night trips. The Dream is known among Star Wars fans as it has a play area that resembles the Millenium Falcon inside the kid’s club (it’s pretty awesome), and guests can enjoy Broadway’s hit musical Beauty and the Beast nightly in the ship’s grand theater.

The Disney Fantasy

The Disney Fantasy has 7 night sailings to Castaway Cay and the Eastern and Western Caribbean. Have you ever seen a water roller coaster? You’ll find the AquaDuck water coaster aboard the Fantasy along with the Royal Court restaurant filled with all of the Disney princesses and princes you can imagine, as well as the Star Wars: Command Post for the little ones. Since each cruise has specific destinations, if you want to book a specific ship then you will be limited by that ship’s range of destinations.

Disney Cruise Decision Factors

  • What is best way to book a Disney Cruise?

Let me guess.

The fact that you landed on my Disney cruise page is no accident. Perhaps you’ve heard about Disney Cruises from friends. Or you’ve seen the hype online.

But perhaps you’ve wondered:

“Is a Disney Cruise really worth the time & money?”

Here’s the real scoop:

For Disney-lovers, Disney Cruise vacations are magical.

When I am asked what makes a Disney Cruise so special, my answer boils to the following ingredients:

  • Premium cruise accommodations
  • Dreamy destinations
  • Unparalleled customer service
  • All mixed together with the Disney universe of characters

It’s a floating theme park, a sailing entertainment spectacle, and a buoyant  paradise-seeker, all in one convenient vacation package.

The four words I use to describe a Disney Cruise are:

  • Entertainment
  • Family-friendly

READ: My Top 10 Reasons Why a Disney Cruise is Best Vacation for Families

There are so many activities, both for children and adults, that it is difficult to answer this question in just a quick paragraph or two.

But let’s try anyway:

On a Disney Cruise, here are some of the things you can expect :

  • Meet your favorite Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, as well as newcomers to the Disney universe, such as Jack Sparrow, Elsa, Darth Vader, and Captain America.
  • Kids and adults have their own “clubs” and experiences that have been developed by Disney Imagineers and are run by energetic and friendly crew (aka “Cast Members”). Each of these is carefully thought-out and age appropriate.
  • Grown-ups will appreciate signature dining experiences, adult-only sundecks and pools (for some quiet time), premium spa experiences, and a lively, yet decidedly non-raunchy, nightlife.
  • Nightly entertainment that rivals Broadway or Las Vegas is shown each night in the Walt Disney Theatre.
  • You’ll never go hungry. Disney Cruise Line regularly wins awards for the quality of its food and, perhaps more important, the unique ambiance and setting of each meal. The themed dining rooms on each ship transport you into the middle of a different Disney fantasy.
  • If you head to the Bahamas, you’ll likely get to enjoy the immaculate Disney private island, Castaway Cay or Lighthouse Point .
  • Family activities is a very important part of a Disney Cruise. The family-friendly nature of their entertainment options makes it possible for kids and parents to delight in many shared experiences together.
  • The Disney Cruise Line fleet travels to some of the most desirable destinations on the planet, including the Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, Alaska, and Canada.

If you really want to go into detail, I have created a free email course that walks you through the entire experience from start to finish.

READ: What to Expect on a Disney Cruise

Let’s face it:

A Disney Cruise is a premium vacation experience. (Translation: it ain’t cheap.)

Good news though…

The Disney Cruise fare is almost completely all-inclusive.

This means that you can enjoy all the shows, dining, and Disney entertainment without paying an extra penny. Even with no extras or upgrades, a Disney vacation can be a trip of a lifetime.

The cost of your cruise covers standard amenities, such as:

  • On-board entertainment

In true Disney fashion, however, there are plenty of opportunities to spend more money.

There are a handful of “exclusive” experiences on board (elite luxury dining, massages, and alcohol, to name a few) that will lure your money away.

Take a look at my comprehensive guide that spells out what is free, what costs extra, and how to handle tipping on a Disney Cruise .

READ: What’s Included in a Disney Cruise?

The quick answer is “ it depends. “

Prices for Disney Cruises vary based on the following factors:

  • Length of the voyage . Disney Cruises range in length from 3 nights to 14.
  • The stateroom . Staterooms come in a range of options, from interior (no porthole) to concierge (DCL’s ultimate luxury).
  • Number of people in each stateroom . Add more kids to the same stateroom and the price goes up.
  • Time of year . The holidays are wonderful times to cruise, but also the most expensive.  And summer cruises are typically more pricey than “off-season.”
  • Destination . Competition is steep in the cruising world for the Bahamas, so that helps keep prices lower. Mediterranean and other European cruises, however, command a premium price.
  • How early you book . Price trackers have shown that the lowest price for any cruise is right when the itinerary opens up to accept guests. The longer you wait, the higher the prices go.

What is the best way to book a Disney Cruise?

You can book a Disney Cruise in a variety of ways. Here are my four favorite ways to book, in order of least favorite to most favorite:

Disney Cruise website

At the Disney Cruise Line official website you can select your itinerary, stateroom, and find prices.

However, this is my least favorite way to book.  because you will have to pay the highest market price, you receive no extra perks (like onboard credit), and you won’t receive the personal advice and planning that you can get from a travel agent .

Expedia offers a simple interface to compare itineraries, destinations, and price ranges.

Bookings through Expedia are often eligible for “onboard credit” promotions. This is basically cashback that is offered by travel agents as booking incentives that can be used for purchases during your cruise.

One additional reason to book through Expedia is you can earn  3% cashback   by signing up for Rakuten . This will save you HUNDREDS, just by being smart about your click.

Use this link to get your free Rakuten account and get $30 in your account.

The big advantage of booking a cruise through Costco Travel is they will give you a “Costco Cash Card” that is essentially money you can use in Costco stores. For Costco members, this is a nice perk, and the cash payout starts at hundreds of dollars and goes up depending on price of your cruise.

Disney Vacation Travel Agent

Using an experienced Disney Vacation Travel Agent  is my recommended method for booking a Disney Cruise.

Thanks to their in-depth experience with Disney Cruises, they can not only help you find the best deal for your family, but they can recommend staterooms, destinations, and give you personalized suggestions that will fit your budget and preferences.

Using a Disney travel agent is free to you. I find their extensive experience and personal touch to be so valuable.

The Disney Cruise Line fleet currently consists of five ships:

  • Disney Magic
  • Disney Wonder
  • Disney Dream
  • Disney Fantasy
  • Disney Wish

Entering service in 1998 and 1999 respectively, the Magic and Wonder are the two oldest and smallest ships in the fleet. Both have recently undergone major upgrades and refurbishments.

The Dream and Fantasy set sail in 2011 and 2012, thus are newer and are much larger, holding up to 48% more passengers than the original two ships.

In July 2022, the Disney Wish set sail on its maiden voyage. It is just slightly larger than Dream & Fantasy.

At the time Disney commissioned the creation of the Wish, it also announced plans for the construction of more new cruise ships .

Disney Cruises sail to every corner of the globe.

With a heavy concentration of cruises in the Caribbean, many aren’t aware of Disney Cruise Line’s many other destinations.

While some ports of call are visited annually (the Bahamas, for example), Disney Cruise will vary its sailing schedules each year.

In the past few years, destinations have included Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, Baja Mexico, the Mediterranean, Panama Canal, and every corner of the Caribbean.

Selecting a destination is a highly personal selection, based on individual taste and budget.

Selecting the perfect Disney cruise for you and your family is very much a personal decision.

Everyone has different tastes, interests, and budgets.

There are, however, four decision factors that will help you determine what Disney Cruise itinerary is right for you.

There are really two questions to answer here.

1) As an adult with kids, will I have fun on a Disney Cruise?

Simply put, yes.

Disney does a great job keeping your kids entertained, allowing parents some “me” time. The kids clubs and the counselors offer engaging spaces where kids like to hang out together while providing them with a steady stream of fun activities to keep them busy.

Grown-ups will find an equal amount of attention has been spent on building out spaces that are just for adults. There are many spacious adult-only areas such as sundecks, pools, hot tubs, bars, night clubs, and premium dining experiences.

Even on Castaway Cay , you will find an adults-only beach and bars.

2) Should I take a Disney Cruise without kids?

Singles, couples without kids, and empty-nesters might all be wondering if it makes sense to sail with DCL.

There are some absences in Disney’s amenities (no casino, for example) that are standard on other cruise lines.

Additionally, Disney takes a different approach on other amenities.

I have written a guide that outlines the pros and cons of sailing a Disney Cruise without kids.

How much does a Disney cruise really cost?

Megan duBois

Editor's Note

Disney Cruise Line is known for its family-friendly cruises complete with all of your favorite Disney characters, impeccable dining, exciting entertainment and thrilling ports of call. With everything that's included on the sailings, you might be wondering how much a Disney cruise costs — and if you can afford one.

Cruises with Mickey Mouse and his pals range in price depending on many factors such as the embarkation port and destination, departure date, length of the cruise and cabin type you book. No matter which cruise you book, it will be pricey, like any Disney vacation. You'll have to determine what value you put on experiencing the "magic" of Disney.

For cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

To me, it's worth a lot. I've experienced all five ships in the Disney fleet and have sailed seven times to destinations around the Caribbean and the Mediterranean .

Here, I'm sharing how much a Disney cruise costs per ship and itinerary, any extras that are worth the additional fees and how to save money on a Disney cruise.

How much does it cost to go on a Disney cruise?

disney cruise price 2023

Let's be honest: A cruise on any Disney ship isn't cheap. Factors like cabin type and category, sail date, destination, length of cruise, traveling party size and if you're on a themed cruise can impact the overall cost. If you're trying to keep your costs lower, your best option is to pick a cruise on an older ship (Disney Wonder, Disney Magic, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy) or pick a shorter cruise length.

The cheapest Disney cruise we found cost $1,000 for an inside cabin for two people on a two-night sailing on Disney Wonder in Australia. That's $250 per person per night.

If you're looking for a cheap Caribbean or Bahamian sailing, consider a three-night Bahamas cruise on Disney Magic starting at $1,500 for an inside cabin for two people. This also equates to $250 per person per day. Add in drinks, specialty dining, souvenirs and other expenses, and you can expect to spend around $2,500 in total.

On a recent sailing on the Disney Dream , my family of three and I spent five nights at sea in a balcony room and paid a grand total of $4,514.06. This total included everything from the cruise fare and pre-night hotel stay to parking and spa services.

Some examples of starting prices for each ship and its major itineraries for an inside cabin or a balcony cabin are listed below so you can get a sense of pricing across the fleet. Prices are based on double occupancy.

Disney Magic

One- to three-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $1,500 to $2,500; balcony cabins, $1,900 to $3,300 Four-night Caribbean and Bahamas: inside cabins, $1,800 to $3,200; balcony cabins, $2,300 to $4,000 Five- to six-night Caribbean and Bahamas: inside cabins, $2,200 to $4,400; balcony cabins, $3,000 to $6,600 Seven-night Caribbean: inside cabins, $2,700 to $3,300; balcony cabins, $3,800 to $4,900

Disney Wonder

Two- to three-night Australia: inside cabins, $1,000 to $2,100; balcony cabins, $1,200 to $2,800 Four-night Australia: inside cabins, $1,700 to $3,000; balcony cabins, $2,200 to $4,000 Seven-night Alaska: inside cabins, $3,300 to $5,000; balcony cabins, $5,900 to $10,500

Disney Dream

Three-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $1,700 to $2,300; balcony cabins, $2,000 to $2,600 Four-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $2,100 to $3,500; balcony cabins, $2,500 to $4,000 Five-night Caribbean: inside cabins, $2,800 to $4,400; balcony cabins, $3,100 to $5,000 Five-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $2,700 to $4,000; balcony cabins, $3,200 to $4,600 Seven-night Europe and Mediterranean: inside cabins $4,400 to $6,800; balcony cabins, $5,200 to $9,500

Disney Fantasy

Four-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $2,100 to $3,000; balcony cabins, $2,400 to $3,400 Five- to six-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $2,700 to $4,400; balcony cabins, $3,200 to $4,900 Seven-night Caribbean: inside cabins, $3,300 to $5,700; balcony cabins, $3,900 to $7,000

Where do Disney cruises sail from?

disney cruise price 2023

Disney Cruises depart from 15 different ports around the world, but the major ones to think about from the U.S. include:

  • Fort Lauderdale
  • Port Canaveral, Florida
  • Galveston, Texas
  • New Orleans

The major international ports Disney Cruise Line sets sail from include:

  • Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
  • Melbourne, Australia
  • Southampton, England
  • Brisbane, Australia
  • Vancouver (British Columbia), Canada

Depending on the cruise you pick, getting to and from the home port can be easy or take a little longer — and that can impact the total cost of your Disney cruise.

For instance, many people drive to Fort Lauderdale or Port Canaveral if they already live in the southern U.S. Driving can save money versus flying, and you might not have to stay in a pre-cruise hotel if you can drive right to the port.

You will have to pay to park at the port or at a third-party parking lot. While the off-site parking lots are often cheaper, you will need to think about how to get to and from the ship, tipping the porter or driver, plus the added time to get from your car to the ship.

On the other hand, if you are taking a cruise from an international destination or flying to a domestic home port, your costs automatically go up because of flights for your family, a pre-cruise hotel, meals before the sailing, and transportation to the ship and back to the airport.

What's included in the price of a Disney cruise?

disney cruise price 2023

You might pay a lot for a Disney cruise, but you get a lot for your money. The cost of a Disney cruise covers your onboard dining and most nonalcoholic drinks, an abundance of entertainment for kids and adults, onboard activities and transportation between cruise ports. Even most entertainment and food on Disney's private island Castaway Cay (and upcoming private island destination Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point) is part of the fare.

Entertainment

Most of the entertainment on board is included in the overall cost of your sailing. On your cruise, you can experience Broadway-quality shows inside the Walt Disney Theater, watch first-run movies from Disney's production companies (like Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars), listen to live music and participate in game shows in the adults-only lounges. Most itineraries feature a deck party with a fireworks show.

Kids can meet and play with their favorite Disney characters and participate in activities like karaoke. Family-friendly sun decks with pools, waterslides, splash zones and wading pools are also included in the cost.

disney cruise price 2023

Disney Cruise Line is known for its rotational dining evening dinner service. Families rotate through three onboard restaurants throughout the sailing, and your service team moves with you. Each of the rotational dining options is included in your cruise fare. One of the restaurants will be open for drop-in, sit-down meals during breakfast and lunch as well. Complimentary room service is available 24 hours a day.

On the upper decks, quick-service food stations, soft-serve ice cream and a buffet are available. Every Disney cruise also includes unlimited coffee, tea and soda.

Accommodations

Almost every cabin across the Disney fleet features Disney's distinctive split bathroom concept. One of the bathrooms has a vanity, sink and tub-shower, plus another bathroom with a vanity, sink and toilet. Each room also has a small refrigerator, safe and hair dryer.

disney cruise price 2023

Every child ages 3 to 17 will have access to Disney's kids clubs on board. Youngsters ages 3-10 can enjoy Disney's Oceaneer Club and Disney's Oceaneer Lab . Tweens ages 11-14 have access to Edge, and teens ages 14-17 can chill out in Vibe.

Each kids club has dedicated counselors and a host of activities every day. The best way to see the list of activities is to download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and scroll through the daily agenda. You can flag activities your kids want to attend, so you can get to the kids clubs before they start.

Adult-exclusive activities

Disney cruises are packed with family-friendly programming, but adults can find spaces and events geared just for them in the adult-only nightclubs and lounges on board. Live music, interactive games and shows are only some of the nightly activities.

Additionally, adults have a dedicated pool and hot tub area that includes a bar and coffee shop. (Drinks cost extra, but access is free). For those looking to stay fit while onboard, access to the fitness center is also included.

Castaway Cay

disney cruise price 2023

On most Bahamas and Caribbean sailings, you'll stop at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay . At the island, your family can enjoy the family beach or adult-exclusive beach (for those 18 and older).

Use of towels, beach chairs and shade umbrellas are complimentary, as are waterslides and splash zones. Live music and character appearances take place around the island. Kids and teen club activities are available on Castaway Cay — again, at no extra charge. Runners can participate in the Castaway Cay 5K and get a finisher medal.

When it's time to eat, three spots serve an included barbecue lunch, complete with soft-serve ice cream. Coffee, tea and fountain drinks are also included at Castaway Cay.

To get around the island, you can walk or use the complimentary trams.

Are there any extra Disney costs?

Even though many activities, dining options and entertainment are included in the cost of your cruise, you will find things to pay extra for on a Disney cruise. These may or may not be worth it for your family, depending on your budget and interests. Below is a list of things not included in your overall cruise fare.

Some of the cutest Disney activities are also ones that cost extra. Kids who want more time with the Disney characters might be interested in the Royal Court Royal Tea — a tea party with characters for kids ages 3 to 12. According to planDisney (Disney's online resource for vacation-planning tips) , the cost is $220 per child and $69 for anyone 13 and up. Each tea party includes a selection of tea and a two-course meal; every child gets an assortment of gifts.

Kids can also play dress-up and get a full regal or pirate (only available on Pirate Party Nights) makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, found on every Disney ship. Depending on the package you booked for your child, expect to pay $100 to $450 for each makeover.

Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy both have a virtual sports simulator that requires a reservation and a fee. You can play various sports, from football to golf, for either 30- or 60-minute time blocks. Cost varies based on time, sport and number of people playing.

Specialty dining and cocktails

disney cruise price 2023

Four specialty dining restaurants are offered across the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Exclusive to Disney Wish (and coming soon to Disney Treasure ) are Enchante and Palo Steakhouse. Expect to pay $60 to $205 plus an 18% auto-gratuity for a meal at Enchante; Palo Steakhouse is $50 for a prix-fixe meal, but an a la carte menu is also available.

On the four other Disney Cruise Line ships, Palo is also $50 for prix-fixe and offers an a la carte menu. An 18% auto-gratuity is also tacked onto your bill.

On Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, Remy is also available, with the dessert experience starting at $65 without the 18% auto-gratuity, while brunch and dinner are $80 and $135 respectively, plus an additional 18% auto-gratuity.

On all ships, themed bars and lounges sling drinks. Because there's no drink package available through Disney Cruise Line, you will have to pay for each drink individually. The planDisney panel says the average drink can range from $6 to $20.

If you're looking for specialty coffee, tea or hot chocolate drinks, look for the Cove Cafe on all ships; there are also specialty counters off of the atrium on Disney Dream, Fantasy and Wish. These drinks cost anywhere from $5 to $8, depending on your order. You can also order alcoholic drinks from the coffee bars, which run the typical cocktail prices.

Outside the Walt Disney Theater or near the movie theaters on board each ship, you'll also smell the buttery goodness of freshly popped popcorn. You can buy the popcorn for an added fee to take into the shows with you. Additionally, there are some specialty popcorn buckets available for purchase on each ship; you can refill them for a discounted price every time you want to munch on the salty snack. (Specialty buckets purchased off the ships at a Disney resort or theme park are not eligible for a discounted popcorn refill.)

Additionally, each ship offers beverage-tasting seminars where you can learn how to make and taste a variety of cocktails in a given category. Seminars can range from $40 to $70 and last about an hour.

While crew gratuities on Disney Cruise Line are not included in the overall cost, some can be prepaid before you step onboard. These include gratuities to your dining room server, assistant server and head server, plus your cabin host. Disney recommends a gratuity of $14.50 per night per person, including infants and children in regular cabins. It's recommended that those in concierge cabins and suites pay $15.50, with the extra going to your cabin assistant host.

Gratuities that are not included can be paid on board. Such gratuities include anything extra you would like to give to your service team, tips on alcoholic beverages in the dining room, adult dining locations, room service and the spa. The concierge lounge team is also not included in prepaid gratuities for concierge guests, and Disney recommends $8 per night per guest.

Keep in mind that an 18% gratuity is automatically added to bar tabs across the ship and for spa services. To make it easy while on the ship, you can charge all your gratuities to your onboard account.

disney cruise price 2023

If you want to bring something home from your trip — whether from a port of call or from the onboard shops — you'll want to budget for that extra cost. Souvenirs off the ship can range from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars, depending on what you buy. Be prepared that some shops will only take local currency; purchases at Castaway Cay shops will be charged to your onboard account.

On the ship, easy-to-transport souvenirs included trading pins, magnets and apparel. These can range anywhere from $20 to $75. Other more expensive onboard souvenirs include jewelry, luxury brand purses and wallets, and art.

How do I save money on a Disney cruise?

disney cruise price 2023

If you're reeling from sticker shock, know you can find many ways to save money on a Disney cruise. Here are a few of my favorite money-saving tips.

Letting Disney choose your cabin can be a great way to get a deal on the cruise. These are known as guaranteed rates, and they are the cheapest fares in each category. All you have to do is pick your room type, such as inside, ocean view or balcony, and Disney picks which specific room number you get. This works best if you don't care where your room is on the ship.

If you're looking for a room upgrade , but that's not a make-it-or-break-it deal for your family, consider waiting to upgrade your room until you get to the port. If your cruise still has rooms available, you can ask at check-in about a room upgrade for a discount. The cost will be relative to the room type you originally booked and the room type you want to upgrade to. Sometimes, you can even upgrade to a concierge room or a suite, but you will need to get an early port arrival time to potentially score one of those upgrades.

Disney Cruise Line has one of the most generous alcohol policies of any big-ship cruise brand. At the start of your cruise, you can bring up to six cans of beer or two bottles of wine per person over 21 years old. Then, at each port, you can restock and bring the same alcohol allotment per person over 21 onto the ship to store in your room and enjoy. You might find that beer and wine are cheaper in port than on board — a smart way to save on your drinking expenses.

Are Disney cruises cheaper or more expensive than other cruise lines?

disney cruise price 2023

Other family-friendly cruise brands include Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line and MSC Cruises. While all of the family-friendly brands have pros and cons, picking the right one for your family can come down to a matter of cost. Disney is almost always the most expensive.

For example, we priced out a three-night weekend cruise departing on the same dates for Disney Wish and Royal Caribbean 's soon-to-debut Utopia of the Seas. We found that Disney was almost $500 more expensive for the same weekend, cabin type and length of sailing. Utopia of the Seas came out to $2,850.10 for two people staying in a balcony cabin, while the Disney Wish cruise, also in a balcony room, cost $3,337.20.

What Disney does best — and why many people choose to cruise with the brand — is it provides a high level of service to families, even those in the least expensive cabins. The crew on Disney ships goes above and beyond to make your vacation easy. I've seen everything from dining staff cutting kids' food and taking children to the bathroom to room hosts ensuring parents know about the parental locks on balcony doors (so kids can't just wander outside without an adult).

The extra amenities that Disney offers — such as Broadway-quality shows, character experiences and larger standard cabins — all bring the overall cruise cost up.

Disney also has a smaller fleet than all its family-friendly competitors, meaning there is less cabin inventory to sell. Plus, its ships generally carry fewer passengers. For example, Disney Wish, Disney's biggest ship, carries 4,000 people at full capacity; Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas can carry 7,600 guests at capacity. The low inventory combined with the high demand for Disney cruises means that Disney can charge higher fares and still fill ships.

Bottom line

Cruise fares with Disney can change based on factors like room type, travel party size and sailing date. The minimum price you can expect to pay for a cruise to the Caribbean or Bahamas starts at $1,500 for an inside cabin for two people on Disney Magic.

Disney Cruise Line includes a variety of dining experiences (including room service), soda, character meet-and-greets and Broadway-caliber entertainment in its fares; it also allows passengers to bring alcohol on board in every port of call. For these reasons, you don't necessarily have to spend much on board to have a fantastic vacation. The cruise can be a good value depending on the extras you choose to add.

The real question is whether you want to spend more on the base cruise fare to immerse yourself in the world of Disney versus paying less for another family-friendly cruise line.

Disney Cruise Line’s Fall 2023 Sailings – A Look at Opening Day Prices

The recently announced Fall 2023 Disney Cruise Line sailings were announced last week , and it is time to take a look at the opening day pricing. Please keep in mind, the pricing information is available for anyone to view, but the standard tiered booking for Castaway Club members starting yesterday, July 25th and cruise fares will climb as stateroom categories book up.

DCL Fall 2023 Opening Day Pricing

Below, I’ve collected the opening day pricing, lowest price per stateroom category, based on double occupancy (2 adults) for all of the Fall 2023 Disney cruises to provide a general idea on where the cruises are priced. I realize this does not take into account onboard booking, or a more detailed quote for your sailing party.

The idea for this post was simply to get baseline pricing for each cruise and I felt 2 adults provided the baseline for double occupancy to help everyone plan for Gold, Silver, and first-time cruisers booking windows. The pricing is grouped by ship and itinerary for more of an apples to apple comparison. Additionally, this serves as a historical reference to compare similar opening day prices in the future or to see how the current fare compared to opening day.

Don’t forget, you must be logged into Disney Cruise Line’s website and make sure your account is properly associated with your Castaway Club ID so that you will be able to take advantage of your Castaway Club level booking day.

One last note, the pricing below is representative of a snapshot in time on opening day. As cruises book, prices will increase and stateroom availability will dwindle. The pricing below includes taxes, fees & port expenses for 2 adults.

Sharing is caring!

Want to discover the Disney Fantasy Cruise prices for 2023?

Here we have all the Disney Fantasy cruise prices which are currently available for 2023.

The Disney Fantasy was the fourth ship to join the fleet after Disney Magic, Wonder, and Dream.

The Disney Wish was launched in July 2022 as the fifth ship in the Disney Fleet.

For most of the year, the Disney Fantasy sails 7 night Caribbean cruises which alternate between Western and Eastern itineraries.

There are also some Disney Fantasy sailings for 5, 6, 8, and 10 nights.

All of the Fantasy cruises have at least one port stop at Disney’s Private Island Castaway Cay. This beautiful island in the Bahamas is a huge favorite amongst Disney guests.

One of the biggest factors which will influence the cost of your Disney Cruise is the type of stateroom that you select. You can choose from:

  • Inside Stateroom
  • Outside Stateroom – with a window
  • Verandah Stateroom which has a balcony usually known as a verandah
  • Concierge Stateroom – this is a Verandah stateroom or Suite which has access to exclusive areas and benefits.

All prices are for 2 guests and include port fees and taxes.

These Disney Fantasy cruise prices are correct on September 4, 2023. All prices are subject to change.

Each price shown is the lowest available rate for a stateroom for 2 guests in that category.

What are the Cheapest Months to Book a Disney Fantasy Cruise?

Typically the cheapest months to book a Disney Fantasy cruise are January and early February,

September also tends to have lower than average prices on Disney Fantasy,

Demand is higher over the summer months of June, July, and August so as you would expect, the prices tend to be highest for these times.

Holidays are also very popular times when demand is higher for a Disney Cruise trip so pricing is higher for these times too.

How to Plan a Disney Cruise on a Budget

I f you're looking at your Family Vacation Budget and wondering if you have enough for a Disney Cruise, let's take another look. Is it possible to Plan a Disney Cruise on a Budget? While you may be thinking that a Disney Cruise is an expensive vacation, you may be surprised to realize that this kind of all-inclusive vacation actually may be budget-friendly. Dare we say it's often cheaper than the parks? Here are all the things to consider when planning a Disney Cruise on a Budget and ways you can Save Money on Your Disney Cruise.

Okay, before we dive into how much a Disney Cruise costs, and what's included and what's not, let's level-set. First, be sure to check out the ways you can Save Money on a Disney Cruise . That post gives you tips about buying discounted gift cards ( automatically saving you 5%), choosing the best rooms, and booking during special offers. Remember, that, unlike other vacations, Disney Cruises are often the cheapest when booked a year or more in advance. Blame it on inflation, but Disney Cruises rarely get cheaper closer to the sail date. It's helpful to know that there are options for getting your final cost down once you see what you're paying for. So, how do you Plan a Disney Cruise on a Budget?

Disney Cruise Budget

A Disney Cruise Budget includes the following line items. From the basic Disney Cruise Vacation Package itself to all the EXTRA things you can pay for, if you want. Know that everything in addition to the package is up to you. You can easily explore port towns without booking cruise excursions . And you can easily get coffee from the drinks stations or at the restaurants. You don't need to spend the extra 6 dollars a day for that. So, keep that in mind. A Disney Cruise without all the extras is still a pretty great cruise if you're on a tight budget.

Disney Cruise Vacation Package

  • Specialty Drinks
  • Port Excursions
  • Specialty Classes
  • Nursery Childcare Services
  • Specialty Dining
  • Specialty Services
  • Tips on a Disney Cruise
  • Transportation
  • Tips for Tour Guides at Port

Paid ahead of time, your Disney Cruise Vacation Package includes the bulk of everything you need to pay for on your cruise. For those NOT doing excursions at the port, drinking fancy coffees, or alcoholic drinks, utilizing the nursery service, or using spa services onboard, the package cost will be your entire cost for the cruise. No extra money is needed. Your Room, Food, and Entertainment are all included in this package.

There are some factors that affect your Disney Cruise Package Cost. Your room type, for example, is a huge factor in the overall cost of your room. As such we recommend reading up on How to Choose Your Disney Cruise Itinerary and Stateroom for an overview of options. And if you're on a tight budget, it may be best to consider a Guaranteed Stateroom on a Disney Cruise instead, which allows Disney to choose your room for you. While that may seem risky, it is one of the cheapest ways to take a Disney Cruise.

Destination

Another factor is the destination. Obviously, a transatlantic 14-day cruise is going to be pricier than the 4-day Caribbean Cruise. That said, consider your itinerary wisely. If you're on a budget, one of the cheapest Disney Cruises to take is to the Bahamas. A great cruise, you get one day at port and one day at Castaway Cay or Lighthouse Point. Plus, you're still getting the experience of a Disney Cruise with excellent service, entertainment, food, and characters, for much cheaper than other destinations.

Time of Year

The time of year also plays a huge role in the cost of a Disney Cruise. The cheapest times to go on a Disney Cruise are mid-to-late January and  early February , due to being low travel season. Also, you can find good deals for Cruises sailing in early May, ahead of the summer vacation crowds. The best and cheapest time to take a Disney Cruise tends to be September . And if you're looking to take advantage of the Halloween on the High Seas Cruises or the Very Merrytime Christmas Cruise , both early November and early December see lower prices than later in each month.

Disney Cruise Extra Costs

Here we'll dive into the MAIN THINGS that will cost extra during your Disney Cruise Vacation. So, as you're planning your Disney Budget, be sure to have a piece of paper, with these things jotted down. This will help you decide how much you want to allot for each. To get an idea of what a Disney Cruise includes, check out our Disney Alaska Cruise Itinerary for a full picture of days at sea and days on shore with a Disney cruise.

When you Plan a Disney Cruise on a Budget the biggest expense outside of the Disney Cruise Package Cost are the Port Excursions . Offered at your Port Destination, there are excursions worth taking, and others you can skip. Most port towns are walkable, and near enough to the cruise ship that you can simply get off the boat and explore. No extra cost is needed. However, consider your location when making the choice to choose, or not choose excursions for your port days. However, keep in mind that often combining both shore excursions and free time at port can give you the best kind of vacation at a smaller cost.

Certain Excursions, like those on a Disney Cruise to Alaska , are often once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that offer a glimpse into the history of the location, or the marvels of the area. While Skagway, Alaska was very walkable, and we didn't need an excursion, our White Pass Railroad and Scenic City Tour gave us so much Gold Rush History, that it would not have been the same without it. In the Bahamas, on the other hand, we had no interest in visiting Atlantis and were content exploring the churches, pirate museum, and beach.

Port Excursions are not included in your Cruise Package and are added to your Cruise Folio during your cruise, to be paid before disembarking. Often an attached credit card to your Disney Cruise account will simply be charged the day of your excursion, so be sure to have one attached. If adding excursions, be sure to peruse the excursion options before your Disney Cruise Port Excursion Booking Window opens.

From specialty coffees made at Cove Cafe, to any of the Coffee Bars on the Disney Wish , you can expect to pay about 5 dollars plus tip for your fancy coffee. While we love grabbing these when we cruise, if you're buying coffee daily or for a couple of people in your family, the costs can add up. So, if we're on a tight budget, we just skip this, and head to the drinks station instead for a Homemade Mocha, of the free coffee and hot cocoa.

Alcoholic beverages and specialty mocktails are also NOT INCLUDED in your Disney Cruise Package. This includes the drinks of the day and any drinks your order from the bars and Disney Lounges. Again, while we love trying the specialty drinks onboard, on trips where we need to save money, we just skip these and happily carry around our refillable tumbler instead.

Specialty Classes and Bingo

Another extra expense on a Disney Cruise is the specialty classes offered onboard. While almost all the Entertainment, Trivias, Craft sessions, and classes like Towel folding and Anyone Can Cook are FREE, there are some that come with a cost.  Specialty Classes are found in the Disney Cruise Navigator App, and are able to be added to your cruise before your sail, or while you're onboard. You'll know that these classes require a charge because you can have to register for them. They include Wine Tastings, Mixology Classes,  Drink Samplings, and more.

Bingo is another add-on you can play or not. Often about $40 for the base-level bingo cards, if you're hoping to strike it rich while onboard the Bingo games can often pay out between 5k-10k dollars for the avid players. Mind you, if you're planning to play, add this to your budget.

The "It's a Small World" nursery onboard Disney Cruise ships is a godsend to many parents. There is, however a fee for using these services. Typically about $9 per child for one hour, if you know you'll be utilizing this during your cruise, read up on all the "it's a Small World Nursery" details before you go, so you can plan accordingly.

On a Disney Cruise, your food is included in your Disney Cruise Package Cost, with a couple of exceptions. On a Disney Cruise, meals at any of the Rotational Dining Restaurants, and any of the quick service counters on the pool deck, as well as Cabanas and Marceline Market are INCLUDED. This means your breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks are all covered.

Food NOT INCLUDED  on a Disney Cruise can be found at Palo and Remy, both Signature Dining Experiences that need to be booked in advance and paid for separately. And anything served at the Disney Lounges on a Disney Cruise is also not included. As such, meals, drinks, and appetizers at the specialty dining locations will be added to your Cruise Folio as an extra charge.

Internet

Ahhh, the joys of cruise Wi-Fi. It may come as a surprise, and disappointment to realize you DO NOT GET FREE WI-FI on a Disney Cruise. While this is devastating, we try to look at it as a good way to ensure we're vacationing on our vacation, and not working. Still, it's a darn nuisance to not have access to Wi-Fi. As a result, you can buy a Wi-Fi Package while onboard. Ranging from $15 to $90 typically, the Wi-Fi packages get you very sub-par Wi-Fi, which is MB based. Meaning, if you hoped to watch videos, play games or do anything more than send emails, and do some light internet searching, you may need another option.

Certain services onboard like Spa Services, Hair and Nail services, massages, consultations, etc. all cost extra. Many need to be booked ahead of time, so you'll be aware before you go, of just how much everything is going to be, plus tips of course. If you're trying to save money, we'd recommend skipping these as many are more expensive than if you were to book similar services at home.

One of the relatively mandatory extra expenses you are billed is tips. This is in addition to the amount of your Disney Cruise Package. Keep in mind that some tips, like the ones for the baristas at the coffee shop, and the spa service staff, are decided by you the moment you sign the credit card receipt and write that tip down. The mandatory tips, however, are tallied for you throughout your trip. This is helpful because it shows you the cost of the tips your Room Host, Server, Assistant Server, and Lead Server will receive.

Once you have this in hand, you can adjust those tip amounts as needed. But, the amounts given are industry standard, and if you don't make modifications at the customer service desk, your card on file will be billed for those amounts before you disembark. Check out the Cost of Tips on a Disney Cruise for estimated amounts per night.

Your transportation to and from the port is not included in your Disney Cruise Vacation Package. As such be sure to read our post on Transportation with Disney Cruise Line. This will give you a good idea of the cost if you're combining a land and sea vacation, or parking and sailing.

If you have booked a Disney Port Excursion during your Disney Excursion, be sure to plan for Tour Guide Tips. No matter which port excursions you take, there is someone who is sharing their knowledge, time, expertise, and help during your time with them. While tips for guides vary depending on the type and length of the tour, people typically aim for between $5-$20 per tour guide. This varies depending on the role of the guide. And some tours have multiple guides that may need to be tipped. As such, we recommend making a list of any excursions you're taking, and plan to have cash on hand accordingly.

There's always something to buy on a Disney Cruise. And depending on what kind of vacationer you are, this may be a budget item you take or leave. Since we've been on several cruises, and plan to go on several more, there is never a feeling of a "Must Have" for certain items in Disney Cruise Gift Shops. That said, if you're heading to a unique destination, like a Disney Cruise to Alaska , then there are exclusive items for that cruise, you may want to get. Consider this when planning your budget. Are you going to get the $20 mug? Or a $60 blanket? If so, add it to your budget plan.

What is Not Included in the Price of a Disney Cruise

When planning your Disney Cruise Budget, it's important to consider how much extra you NEED to spend, above and beyond your cruise package. On our first cruise, we spent about $100 dollars on Tips. As Cast Member Tips were the only thing we "needed" to cover, we felt that vacation was a bargain. Mind you, we didn't have anything special. No specialty drinks, dining, or service. We only had one day in the Bahamas and didn't buy excursions. And simply skipped the other things that required more money. Here are the things not included on a Disney Cruise, that you may, or may not want to include in your budget. Check out our post on What's Not Included on a Disney Cruise to help drive this list home.

What is Included in the Price of a Disney Cruise

As mentioned before the things included in your Disney Cruise are your stateroom, all your dining, and entertainment. When you consider that any Disney parks vacation never includes food, that alone could give you pause. Especially as dining at a Disney park typically runs about 80-100 per person per day, that adds up. Luckily, on a cruise, all your meals are included in the price of the Disney Cruise Vacation. With the exception of specialty dining, alcohol, and fancy coffees.  Read more about What's Included in the Price of a Disney Cruise.

Disney Cruise Cost

Okay, so how much does a Disney Cruise Cost? You may think this is a Disney Vacation out of reach but think again. If you're planning out your Disney Cruise on a Budget, we can get you started with round figures. However, we highly recommend, just playing on the Disney Cruise Website , so you can add a number of people, preferred dates, destinations, and more to see what potential costs may be.

How Much is a Disney Cruise Per Person?

The price of a Disney Cruise depends on the number of people, room chosen, destination, and time of year. That said, on average the cost of a Disney Cruise per person ranges from $300-$600 per person, on average . Of course, suites and concierge levels are higher. This cost per person includes the room, food, and entertainment onboard. Check out What's Included on a Disney Cruise for everything you're Cruise Package includes.

Do you need extra money on a Disney Cruise?

That depends. Are you getting anything extra? The only "mandatory" extra charge you need to incur is the Tips for Cast Members we discussed early. And these are automatically taken out of the card you have on file. If you're taking port excursions, drinking alcohol, buying souvenirs, etc. then yes, you need extra money.

Do you Need Cash on a Disney Cruise?

While you will not need cash or a credit card onboard a Disney Cruise Ship, it is beneficial to have for your ports of call. Mainly for tipping tour guides or paying for souvenirs. On board a Disney Cruise, everything is attached to your card on file, so if you charge anything to your room, it simply is added to your folio. Read all the details about Cash and Currency on a Disney Cruise .

Disney Cruise Budget Totals

Okay, now for some number crunching. We're going to throw some figures together so you can see what your budget number may look like. Keep in mind these estimates will be "estimates" based on what is on the Disney Cruise Website at the time of this writing. Also, these are retail rates and could be less if you book at a discounted rate or special offer. Estimated based on 4 PEOPLE room occupancy, Sailing in September, ( the cheapest month to sail). Be sure to check out the Disney Cruise Costs for Extra Activities so you're prepared before you go.

8 Top Nancy Pelosi Stocks to Buy

Here are former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and her husband's eight latest investments.

BERLIN, GERMANY - NOVEMBER 10: Former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi speaks at gala dinner of the annual Henry Kissinger Prize on November 10, 2023 in Berlin, Germany. The award, which is going this year to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, recognizes outstanding services in international diplomacy to transatlantic political relations. The American Academy in Berlin offers fellowships to writers, scholar, journalists and artists in order to strengthen intellectual, cultural, and political ties between the United States and Germany. Stock traders on social media platforms have clamored for a Nancy Pelosi stock tracker in recent years thanks to the strong returns she generated on certain trades.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in 2022 that the Senate would soon vote on a bill banning members of Congress from trading individual stocks. However, nearly two years later, Pelosi is no longer House Speaker, and members of Congress are still allowed to buy and sell individual stocks as long as they disclose their trades within 45 days.

Stock traders on social media platforms have clamored for a Nancy Pelosi stock tracker in recent years thanks to the strong returns she and her husband, financier Paul Pelosi, have generated on certain trades. Here are Nancy Pelosi and her husband's eight most recent stock purchases:

  • Palo Alto Networks Inc. (ticker: PANW )

Nvidia Corp. ( NVDA )

Apple inc. ( aapl ), microsoft corp. ( msft ), alphabet inc. ( goog ), tesla inc. ( tsla ), alliancebernstein holding lp ( ab ), walt disney co. ( dis ), palo alto networks inc. ( panw ).

Palo Alto Networks is one of the largest cybersecurity vendors, providing firewalls and cybersecurity software to customers around the world. In February 2024, Pelosi purchased 70 Palo Alto call options with a strike price of $200 and an expiration date of Jan. 17, 2025. These trades raised eyebrows among Pelosi's critics because Palo Alto Networks is a U.S. government cybersecurity contractor. However, if Pelosi had inside knowledge about the stock, you certainly couldn't tell by its performance. In the roughly four months since Pelosi purchased her first PANW call options, its stock price is down about 14%.

Nvidia designs and sells high-end graphics and video processing chips used for desktop and gaming personal computers, workstations, artificial intelligence technology, and other advanced computing servers and supercomputers. In November 2023, Pelosi purchased 50 Nvidia call options with a strike price of $120 and an expiration date of Dec. 20, 2024. Pelosi previously traded Nvidia options and stock as recently as September 2022, when she sold 50 Nvidia call options at a loss of more than $361,000. Nvidia is the top-performing stock in the entire Nasdaq-100 in 2024, and Nvidia shares are up about 166% since she purchased her call options in November.

Apple produces the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac computers and other personal computing devices. In addition, its services segment includes its App Store, Apple Music, iCloud and licensing businesses. In May 2022, Pelosi bought 100 Apple call options with a strike price of $80 expiring in March 2023. Just days later, Pelosi made an additional purchase of 50 Apple call options with an $80 strike price expiring in June 2023. In June 2022, Pelosi sold 50 Apple call options with a $100 strike price prior to their June 17 expiration. In March 2023, Pelosi exercised Apple call options she bought in May 2022, purchasing 10,000 shares of Apple stock for $80 apiece in an $800,000 transaction.

Pelosi exercised another 50 call options in June 2023, boosting her stake by another 5,000 shares.

Microsoft is one of the world's largest professional software and cloud services providers. It is also an early market leader in AI technology and has invested $13 billion in ChatGPT-maker OpenAI . In May 2022, Pelosi purchased 50 Microsoft call options with a $180 strike price expiring in June 2023. In June 2023, Pelosi upped her stake in Microsoft, exercising 50 call options and purchasing 5,000 shares of MSFT stock. Since Pelosi disclosed her Microsoft call option purchase in 2022, the stock is up 69%, outpacing the S&P 500 by more than 35% in that period.

Alphabet is the parent company of Google and YouTube and is a global leader in online advertising. In September 2022, Pelosi purchased 20,000 shares of Alphabet's Class C shares by exercising 200 call options. Pelosi had purchased those call options back in December of 2021. Between the time of the option purchase and the time she exercised them, Alphabet's share price dropped 27.4%. In December 2022, Pelosi sold 30,000 shares of Alphabet's Class A shares, but she is still holding on to the Class C shares for now. The stock is up about 70% since Pelosi exercised her options.

Tesla is the most valuable U.S. electric vehicle maker with a market cap of more than $580 billion. In March 2022, Pelosi purchased 2,500 shares of Tesla by exercising 25 call options with a strike price of $500. Pelosi had purchased those call options way back in December 2020. Between the time the purchase was disclosed and the time she exercised the options, Tesla's share price climbed more than 40%. In December 2022, Pelosi sold 5,000 shares of Tesla at a more than $511,000 loss. Tesla shares are down about 37% since she exercised her options in March 2022.

AllianceBernstein is a leading investment manager. Pelosi has made several AB stock trades in the past few years. In December 2020, she bought 20,000 shares. In February 2021, she made two additional purchases of AB stock totaling 40,000 shares. She purchased another 10,000 shares in January 2022. Most recently, Pelosi dumped 20,000 shares of AB stock in December 2022 for a $11,510 loss. AllianceBernstein has been far from a home run investment for Pelosi. The stock has lagged behind the S&P 500 and generated a total return of just 32.4% since her December 2020 purchase.

Walt Disney is a diversified media and entertainment company that operates theme parks, movie and television studios, cruise lines, and other businesses. Disney also owns the Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu streaming services. Pelosi purchased 10,000 shares of Disney in January 2022 by exercising 100 Disney call options with a strike price of $100. In September 2022, Pelosi reported that 50 Disney call options she purchased in 2021 expired worthless. In December 2022, Pelosi sold 10,000 shares of DIS stock at a $114,138 loss. Since she exercised her Disney call options in January 2022, the stock is down about 27%.

One of the most captivating pieces of entertainment I’ve seen so far this year is a four-hour-long YouTube video in which one woman describes her stay at a Disney World hotel. I’m as shocked by this as anyone.

To be clear: I was initially resistant when my partner encouraged me to watch Jenny Nicholson’s epic “ The Spectacular Failure of the Star Wars Hotel,” which breaks down in microscopic detail her visit to Disney’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. During the experience, now closed, guests on vacation were encouraged to live out their George Lucas dreams by participating in a role-playing game while staying in a structure on the outskirts of the park near Orlando, Fla.

Nicholson’s monologue, which runs longer than “Lawrence of Arabia,” has been viewed more than seven million times since it was uploaded last month and has been the talk of social media, yet I was still unprepared for how absolutely riveting it was. While it highlights a litany of problems with the hotel itself, the video can also be viewed as a diagnosis of the entertainment industry’s current ills writ large. In her frustration, Nicholson becomes a valiant truth teller, clearly articulating how corporate greed betrays loyal fans to sell a cheaper and less emotionally enriching product. And she does this against a backdrop of stuffed animals and while wearing various costumes, including, at one point, a giant suit resembling a Porg, the puffin-like creature in “The Last Jedi.”

Nicholson is a great storyteller, even in Twi’lek head-tails and a Rodian beanie. She lands somewhere between a friend letting you in on some great gossip and a Homerian poet of 21st-century pop culture, engaging in the oral traditions of the ancients, only the subject is theme parks and “Star Wars.”

Here’s the very abridged version of what she’s talking about: In 2022, Disney opened the Galactic Starcruiser, billed as a “two-night adventure.” (Think: A cruise, but on land.) Guests would spend their days and nights inside a largely windowless hotel built to look like a spaceship, and actors would engage them in a story in which the Resistance battles the First Order for control of the vessel. As Stormtroopers and aliens roamed the halls, the visitors would play games immersing them in the world via an app on their phones.

Nicholson spent upward of $6,000 for a two-person stay. What did she get for that exorbitant fee? Well, for starters, a tiny room. (The “Star Wars” locale her footage most reminded me of was the prison in the TV series “Andor.”) Besides that, very little. She was barely able to crack the role-playing element. And, in a particular indignity, she was seated behind a pole during a dinner show and unable to see the alien singer Gaya. Nicholson repeatedly returns to the pole as an example of the poor design of the space, but also because it just seems to become an incredible symbol of how wrong her stay went.

Watching her explain it is a strange combination of delightful and enraging. She’s got a charming knack for quippy asides, and her complaints are so well-documented that they never seem unreasonable. You feel for Nicholson because she clearly wanted to have fun. Despite her frustration with the Starcruiser, she bought merch. She dressed up. She even tried to invent a persona for herself when interacting with the cast. None of it worked.

Nicholson is nerdier than most, but she’s also representative of a pure kind of fandom. She adores Disney and “Star Wars,” and her complaints come from a place of true disappointment. That’s why she can so effectively call out manipulation when she sees it. She is not an influencer paid to shill Disney’s wares, and in one of the video’s most viral moments she explains how you can spot someone who is, based on whether they use the convoluted official names for products. For instance, a paid influencer might say Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge instead of Star Wars Land. If you’ve spent any time on social media, you’ll stop to consider how many times you’ve been sold a bill of goods by a TikTok or an Instagram Reel.

What also struck me about the video was how Nicholson’s criticisms held true in other mediums. Too frequently corporations like Disney are asking audiences to accept whatever they are given no matter the quality. A critic might roll her eyes at the nonstop influx of projects based on pre-existing intellectual property — and often I do — but there’s a reason studios keep going to that well: Fans. You can dismiss fandom as being blind to quality, but Nicholson proves that’s not actually true. Putting out a lesser, cheaper product can mean taking advantage of what is often genuine love. Sometimes the quiet part is even said out loud: A recent trailer for “Deadpool & Wolverine” featured a QR code leading to a video of the Marvel star Ryan Reynolds telling “excited” fans that the movie is “as paper-thin as a sequel to ‘Battlefield Earth.’”

Nicholson argues that instead of making the Starcruiser the unique experience Disney promised, the company cut corners, betraying those who paid exorbitantly for what they assumed would be transportive. She also highlights how, when Disney decided to shut down the Starcruiser in September 2023, the enthusiastic cast members were the ones who probably paid the heaviest personal price.

Because it’s both consumers and laborers who suffer. Take, for instance, a recent Bloomberg report revealing that Pixar is turning away from movies driven by the personal stories of directors and thinking more about spinoffs and sequels, even though the studio’s biggest recent bomb, “ Lightyear,” was just that . And at Marvel, where fan commitment to the franchise has been stretched thin in recent years by consistently lesser quality films and television shows, overworked visual effects artists voted last year to unionize. “I grew up dreaming of working on Marvel films,” one coordinator said in a statement , “so when I started my first job at Marvel, I felt like I couldn’t complain about the unpaid overtime, the lack of meal breaks and the incredible pressure put on VFX teams to meet deadlines because I was just supposed to be grateful to be here at all.” “Grateful to be here” is what it seems Disney expected Nicholson and other customers to say, too.

This mentality is evident in the glut of streaming television shows — too many to watch, only some of them worthwhile — and the number of superlong albums and alternate “versions” that musicians release to game the charts . If you’re a Taylor Swift fan, for instance, you might buy minimally different “special” editions of her latest out of the need to be a completist .

Nicholson is so compelling because her righteous indignation is less about her personal financial loss and more about how devotees like her have been taken advantage of simply because they want to escape into a magical world. Call that desire silly, but that’s what Disney promises time and time again whether that be in theme parks or onscreen. Fans like Nicholson take their passion for this material seriously. What she wants is that care to be reciprocated.

The great irony is that Nicholson herself produced what Disney couldn’t: a comprehensive, entrancing experience that held my attention.
