Star Trek Timelines - The Best Legendary Ships and How to Get Them

star trek timelines ship farming

We’ve already mentioned in our guide to a great early game in Star Trek Timelines  that ships aren’t too important for your progression in the game. We maintain this view in terms of gameplay… however , we are also Star Trek fans and we have to be honest here – there is no way we won’t strive to have the coolest damned fleet of ships in the galaxy.

Star Trek Timelines - The Best Legendary Ships and How to Get Them

Some players really want to roleplay in a famous Federation vessel, while others want to become serious contenders in the arena. At any rate, there comes a time in your playthrough of Star Trek Timelines that you begin to want a legendary ship. Badly.

The good news is that, even though you can pay to get your favorite ship faster, you don’t have to. It is more than possible to play Star Trek Timelines for free  and still have plenty of fun, as well as obtain some of the best ships. In fact, if you play diligently for a couple of months, you’ll probably have too many to choose from!

Rest assured, though: we have you covered in case you can’t make up your own mind. The vessels we’ve included below are some of our favorites in the game so you might want to keep an eye out for their schematics at all times. Once we briefly go through these best ships and their features, we’ll also take a closer look at how you, too, can unlock them for free.

The Borg Cube

The 5-star legendary Borg Cube is pretty much the bane of the arena in Star Trek Timelines. People who have it and don’t mind using it are absolutely in love with it, while those who either don’t have it or prefer to use a different ship tend to hate its mechanical guts. Of course, it will be up to you to choose a side.

Star Trek Timelines - The Best Legendary Ships and How to Get Them

The reason why the Cube is so popular is because of its “Laser Cutter Beam”, which increases Attack by +1 and deals 350% damage. It basically cuts through most other ships like the proverbial knife through butter. The disadvantage (there is one, thank Roddenberry!) is that the Cube has very low Evasion compared to other top-tier ships. If you’re up against a Cube in the arena, this is the weakness you have to exploit.

The HMS Bounty

A gorgeous tier 5 Klingon K’Vort Bird-of-Prey, the HMS Bounty is another community favorite, though it is perhaps not as obnoxious as the Borg Cube. With decent stats in terms of Attack Power, Speed, and Accuracy, this ship relies on a few extraordinary cooldowns to defeat others.

Star Trek Timelines - The Best Legendary Ships and How to Get Them

Its “Tritium Intermix” adds +2 Attack and reflects 40% of the damage dealt by the attacker, while the “Dispersive Armor” adds +2 Evasion and grants Cloak. Naturally, the ship must be paired with adequate characters for maximum impact, but, when upgraded and properly manned, it can be devastating.

The ISS Enterprise NCC-1701

A favorite among die-hard fans of the series, as well as a beast inside the arena, the ISS Enterprise has great stats and a decent combination of defensive and offensive cooldowns. What truly makes this ship shine is its “Boarding” feature, which allows you to equip and take advantage of boarding crew.

Play Star Trek Timelines on BlueStacks!

Thanks to its native high Attack stats and speed, the ISS Enterprise can blast a giant hole through the hull of any other ship… if properly manned. If you’ve gotten your hands on plenty of good crew members with the “Boarding” trait and high Attack bonuses, then this is definitely the best ship for you.

To put it broadly, the Prakesh is the Cardassian version of the ISS Enterprise. Although it does come with a lower Attack Power stat, it is ever-so-slightly faster to shoot and has significantly higher Accuracy. Like the Enterprise, however, the best part about the Prakesh is its use of “Boarding”.

Star Trek Timelines - The Best Legendary Ships and How to Get Them

Once you’ve built Prakesh, all you have to do is put together a great boarding crew. Some of your options include Third Remata’Klan (fully upgraded), Warship Chakotay, Scientist Degra, Commando Crusher, Kalifi Spock, Ardra, and many others.

D’Kora Krayton

Although you wouldn’t expect the Ferengi to have it in them, this tier 5 Marauder of the Ferengi Alliance can be a veritable powerhouse in the arena. Sure, you won’t see it as often as the ISS Enterprise when looking through leaderboards, but it has a steady presence and can be tremendously fun to play.

Star Trek Timelines - The Best Legendary Ships and How to Get Them

Its “Electromagnetic Pulse” is even better than the Cube’s most prominent offensive ability since it grants +2 Attack and deals 350% damage. Meanwhile, its “Cannibalize Auxiliary Vessel” offers some survivability with +2 Evasion and a 15% Hull repair.

Can You Actually Get These Ships… for Free?

Many a mobile game has tricked us into thinking that yes, we can play and be good for free. Most of the times, this is just a ploy to drag us in and reach for our wallets. But this is not the case with Star Trek Timelines. No one says that it doesn’t take a lot of time to build a good fleet without spending any real currency, but, ultimately, it is actually possible.

In terms of legendary ships, you have not one, but a few options to obtain them for free. These include:

The Dabo Wheel

By far the most consistent way to earn schematics for tier 5 ships, the Dabo Wheel can award as much as 450 schematics at a time. If you only log in and spin the wheel every day, you’re still likely to have several legendary ships by the end of two months.

Star Trek Timelines - The Best Legendary Ships and How to Get Them

Missions and Dilemmas

Not all missions or dilemmas reward you with schematics, but some do. Dilemmas, especially, can award as many as 600 at a time.

The Daily Rewards Calendar

Another great source of free schematics, this method only requires you to log in each day in order to obtain some of the best ships in the game.

Star Trek Timelines - The Best Legendary Ships and How to Get Them

Simple Scans

Although, to be fair, you’re only going to get 1-2 schematics at a time and only from some scans.

So there you have it – our selection of the best legendary ships in Star Trek Timelines and a couple of ways to earn them for free! You should make no illusions, though. While ships are amazing for roleplay, none of these will fare well without the right crew … and getting them, although possible, is an entirely different kettle of fish.

Discovery Showrunner Explains How the Finale's Surprising Twists Fit Trek Canon

Back to the future.

Burnham finds herself among the technology that the Progenitors found in the series finale of 'Star ...

The age of Discovery has come to an end. With “Life, Itself,” the first Star Trek show of the streaming era has concluded its Season 5 storyline and wrapped up two major mysteries, one of which has been floating around since 2018. Discovery’s emotional ending likely wasn’t what fans expected, and the final coda features a leap that reveals not just the end of the starship’s voyages, but that teases a legacy for Burnham and Book that could have big implications for the Trek timeline.

To sort it all out, Inverse caught up with Discovery showrunner Michelle Paradise to figure out what went into devising the series’ final moments, and how it all ties into a specific Trek mystery while also connecting to a different prequel show from almost two decades ago. Spoilers ahead.

Discovery’s original ending

Burnham, T'Rina, and Saru, in the first ending of 'Star Trek: Discovery.'

Discovery Season 5 originally ended with T’Rina and Saru’s wedding before it had to jump 30 years forward.

Discovery’s final episode seems to have two endings. After the entire Breen conflict is resolved and Burnham confers with Kovich (David Cronenberg), the episode seems to come to a serene end with Saru (Doug Jones) and T’Rina’s (Tara Rosling) beachy wedding. As guests mingle, Book (David Ajala ) shows up late and reconciles with Michael.

“That was it. It was the scene on the beach where Burnham and Book walk off and the camera sort of pans up,” Michelle Paradise tells Inverse. “That was the original ending.”

Had Season 6 been in the works, Discovery Season 5 would have ended in the present tense of the show (3191) with Saru and T’rina’s wedding. Although Discovery Season 5 wrapped production in November 2022, it wasn’t until April 2023 that a coda was developed to conclude the entire series. “We were editing episodes 8 and 9, I think, when we found out that this would be our last season,” Paradise says. “Everything starting from the pan up, that’s the new stuff.”

The flash-forward timeline

The final coda of 'Star Trek: Discovery,' Book, Burnham and their son, Leto.

Leto, Burnham, and Book, 30 years in the future.

Discovery’s real ending jumps forward several decades. Burnham and Book have distinguished streaks of gray hair, Burnham is referred to as Admiral, and they have a grown son named Leto, named after Book’s deceased brother.

“It’s 30 years later,” Michelle Paradise confirms, which means the Discovery coda takes place around 3221. This also means Discovery’s final moments are set in yet another new century. The crew initially jumped from the 23rd century to the 32nd, and now Burnham takes the USS Discovery on one last mission early in the 33rd century. In doing so, Discovery creates more future-tense Trek canon that other new Trek shows may have to deal with.

“We were nervous, but not because of [creating new canon],” Paradise says. “It was really about how we wrap up a series when we have essentially 10 to 12 pages and three days to shoot it. It was about making sure we did justice to the characters and bring emotional closure for the audience.”

The Enterprise connection

David Cronenberg as Kovich, who is really "Daniels."

David Cronenberg as Kovich, who’s revealed to be someone else entirely.

Just before the new material, Michael Burnham unravels a secret that Discovery has been keeping since Season 3. Just who is David Cronenberg’s cryptic character, Kovich ? Burnham learns that Kovich is a codename and that his real identity is Agent Daniels. Daniels mentions he served on the USS Enterprise ; for those who don’t remember, Daniels was a temporal agent from the 31st century who, in the prequel series Enterprise , often traveled back to the 22nd century to assist the crew. At the time, Daniels was trying to stop other factions from rewriting history. In the 32nd-century context of Discovery, we’ve been told that temporal accords made time travel illegal.

Paradise explains that the writers’ room had planned to reveal that Kovich was Daniels for a while. “I think it was back in Season 4 we kind of decided that was where we were going with him,” she says. “If you rewatch season five, you'll see there are tiny little Easter eggs. He's writing with a pen and paper, which is very weird for the future when they’ve all got holograms. He’s a bit out of time.”

Discovery’s final destination explained

Admiral Burnham commands the USS Discovery, one last time in the series finale of 'Star Trek: Discov...

Admiral Burnham takes the USS Discovery — and its benevolent AI, Zora — on one last ride.

Discovery’s last bit of housekeeping was reconciling a strange bit of canon introduced in the 2018 Short Treks episode “Calypso.” That short depicted the USS Discovery adrift and empty, with only a friendly, sentient AI named Zora (Annabelle Wallis) aboard. In this distant future, a human named Craft (Aldis Hodge) boards the ship and has a romance with Zora, who projects herself as a hologram.

Ever since “Calypso” aired, fans have wondered whether it took place in an alternate future, or if it would ever fit with the 32nd-century timeframe Discovery eventually arrived in. While we saw Zora’s sentience emerge after “Calypso,” the episode’s questions remained unanswered .

“I dodged those questions for years!” Paradise says. “But it felt like we needed to tie it back to ‘Calypso’ for people who had seen the short. But we also wanted to do it in such a way that if people hadn’t seen the short, they wouldn’t be like, ‘What are they talking about?’”

In the end, Discovery is sent on a top-secret “Red Directive” mission, which requires Zora to have her fateful meeting with Craft at some point in the future. Even Burnham doesn’t know why, but if Discovery doesn’t meet Craft, then something about the timeline won’t be quite right. Paradise says these scenes were created to emphasize character, rather than connecting dots for the sake of it. We see Discovery end up where it's supposed to end up, but the why had to remain a secret to preserve the moment’s emotional integrity.

“We felt it was important to answer the question — what happened to one of the main characters, the ship itself,” Paradise says. “Ultimately, any version of that where we went into plot started to take away from the emotional experience. And ultimately why they had to go out there didn't feel as important as the fact that Burnham’s going to be the one to take the ship out. One last time.”

Star Trek Discovery Final Mission

Star Trek: Discovery Ending: Where Does Burnham Take the Ship at the End?

By Jason Faulkner

At the end of the final episode of Star Trek: Discovery , there’s a time jump, and we find that now-Admiral Burham is taking the USS Discovery on a final mission . Many viewers are likely wondering why the ship has been returned to its original configuration, who or what “Craft” is, and what the point of abandoning it could be. However, we already got the answer to this question all the way back in 2018.

Where does Burnham take the USS Discovery at the end of the series?

Star Trek Discovery Where Does Burnham Take Discovery in the End

In the last episode of Star Trek: Discovery, Burnham takes the ship to an unknown location and leaves it there. The purpose behind this is so that one day a man named Craft will discover it and be saved by the supplies onboard.

We can see the story of what happens to the USS Discovery a thousand years later in the Short Trek episode “Calypso.” In it, Craft is adrift in an escape pod when he finds the Discovery. Zora, the ship’s AI, brings him aboard and tends to his needs before eventually falling in love with him. However, Craft desires to return to his family, and Zora outfits him with the ship’s remaining shuttlecraft. After he leaves, the Discovery remains in position, waiting for the Federation to eventually recover it.

Why does the Discovery get refit?

Star Trek Discovery Ship Abandoned

Before it leaves on its final voyage, the USS Discovery is refitted to its original configuration. We’re not given an in-universe explanation for why this happens. Quizzically, neither Burnham nor Zora comment on the process during their conversation at the end of the episode.

However, we know the out-of-universe explanation for Discovery reverting to its prior form. “Calypso” premiered shortly before the second season of the show. At this point, the jump to the future wasn’t planned. So, the ship remained in its 23rd-century form despite the episode taking place thousands of years in the future. So, to maintain continuity, the Discovery had to be returned to its original design in the final episode.

Kitty Mammas Streaming: Watch & Stream Online via Amazon Prime Video

An item is an object within the game world of Star Trek: Timelines which allows the player to advance in their gameplay. Items can be viewed in the player's inventory .

They can be sorted as: Equipment , Crew Experience Training , Faction Transmissions , Component , Ship Schematic , and Shuttle Boosts .

  • 1 Item Rarity
  • 2 Drop Chance
  • 3 Using Equipment
  • 4 Plus Icons
  • 5 Building items
  • 6 Replicator
  • 7 References

Item Rarity

star trek timelines ship farming

Some items can be rarer than others. This can be shown by the number of stars below each item when you view its details in your inventory . Sometimes the icon is wrong, so it's best to open the details screen up and use the text instead. [1]

Not all versions of all items are present in the game at this moment. For instance, there seems to be no basic positronic brain , or no basic, super rare or legendary Vulcan lute .

Drop Chance

Some items are only available once from any particular mission (rare rewards). Others can be earned over and over again by repeating the mission (standard rewards). The drop chance or drop rate of a standard reward is the likelihood that the item the player wants will be earned from the mission.

The drop chance of any given item does not necessarily correlate with the item's rarity.

Using Equipment

star trek timelines ship farming

In order to improve and advance your character you must equip them with specific items.

Once the item has been equipped it can't be recovered or extracted. Be careful when equipping items on characters you plan to dismiss, as this can waste potentially important equipment or components.

Items make your crewmember better at their tasks.

  • Some items add to the skill value.
  • Some items change the skill proficiency , i.e. the range of random numbers that is added to the skill.
  • Some items add passive bonuses for ship combat.

Diplomacy

When an item can be equipped to a crew member who you have, a yellow plus icon will appear in its top right hand corner when you see the item in lists of potential winnings from missions or in Faction Centers . [2] If you click on the item, it will show you which character of yours needs that item. [3]

A green plus icon appears in the top right corner when the component is the final one required to make a buildable item equippable. For example, it would appear on a Uniform Pattern component if you already had all the other components required to build an Engineering Uniform item. Note that if the buildable item has not been unlocked, for example the item can be equipped at level 46 but the crew member is currently level 45, then even though the item may currently be buildable it does not count as equippable yet so the green icon will not appear (the logic here being that you'll want to focus on collecting items that you are able to equip before collecting items that you can't equip).

Building items

As you progress in the game, equipment that you need to advance your characters will not simply drop from a mission, but needs to be created from a series of other items. You can see if you need to build an item by clicking on it in your Crew Management screen - if it needs to be built, it will have a button saying 'build' underneath the large icon of the item. The 'build' button will be yellow if you have all the items, or light blue if you need to collect more. Clicking on the blue 'build' button will give you a popout window showing you the recipe for the item. The recipes are presented in pictorial form, showing you how many of that kind of item you have / how many of that kind of item you need. If you need to obtain an ingredient, it will appear as either a red or an orange 0 / 1 (if you only need 1 of that kind of ingredient to build your desired item). If you click on the item that you need to obtain, you can click on it and either get a list of missions to go to and see if the item will drop, or get a recipe for that item. If the 0 / 1 is red, then you need to still find a component item to build that item. If the 0 / 1 is orange, you can build that item by clicking on it and choosing to build. [4] Building items costs credits .

Items for your crew can also be created by the replicator . You can only use the replicator for free once per day, however, VIP & Starbase users may have more uses daily.
