Love love loved this place

We are from Easley SC, decided to kick summer off In May with a trip to the beach and do some surf fishing. We had the best time. The RV spots are big with plenty of room to park, the bath house is one of the best I have ever seen, very clean and up to date. Plenty of hot water , water pressure, and private with plenty of room to move around. The presentation of the park is beautiful with plenty to do but not so busy you can't relax. The nights are peaceful. We took our dogs, Fishing on the lake wasn't that great, but still a beautiful view with wild life. We loved it so much we are returning for a week at Christmas and Kick off the new year 2023. Look forward to many trips here. Oh and the breakfast is awesome at the seaside cafe. The employees throughout the park are very helpful and friendly. The Meece Family.

Love this campground

Been camping ever since it opened. Love this place. Wish it go back to being able to picking out camp site like you use too. When your handicap it can make a difference on your stay. Renting golf carts can be a little pricey for retired people. But anyway best campground ever.

ALWAYS CLEAN AND FRIENDLY

WE HAVE STAYED HERE DURING ALL 4 SEASONS AND ENJOYED OUR STAY EACH TIME. REASONABLY REGULATED AND WELL MAINTAINED. MY WIFE HAS DEMENTIA AND GOT LOST IN THE PARK ONE TIME. THE MANAGEMENT IMMEDIATELY HAD THE PARK SEARCHED BY A POSSE OF WHITE PICKUP TRUCKS AND SHE WAS LOCATED QUICKLY. WE WOULDN'T STAY ANYWHERE ELSE AT THE BEACH.

40 years and counting

Great family campground fun for all ages clean and safe in July it will 40 years in a row we have stayed there.

LOVE THIS RESORT

Great place for family to enjoy the beach without all the crowds. Super friendly staff, very clean and well kept amenities, have been spending our summer vacations here for going on 4 years and always look forward to returning. So many activities for kids, bike ride away from shopping, great for running through the park or on the beach. Can't wait for our next trip!

“Great location, beautiful beach and nice large pool and lazy river”

This is the second time weve stayed at this campground in the last couple years and we really like it. We camped at Myrtle Beach Travel Park in a Motorhome.

Lots of great restaurants in the area. Our favorite are Soho, Fiesta Mexicana, Hook barrel, Umbertos at Barefoot landing....

Is this park really big rig friendly? Is it as tight as Ocean Lakes? We have a 44 ft fifth wheel....

“Great beach location!”

BW13 User Image

The campground is HUGE. Sights are pretty close, so definitely get one around the lake or beachfront if you'd like more space. We were beachfront and loved just hopping over the dunes to the beach. We camped at Myrtle Beach Travel Park in a Fifth Wheel.

About a mile walk down the beach to Apache Pier, with some shops and dining, but the nicer restaurants seem to be farther from the beach. King and 44 BBQ and Hook and Barrel out on US17 were both amazing! Skip the Barefoot Queen riverboat tour....

We stayed ocean side and it was so convenient for the beach. We did not have bikes (some of our kids are too small) so getting to the pool and other amenities was a HIKE. bring something to get around (because it’s huge) and you will love it! So much to do.

Sites may be smaller.. but all sites are sewer, power and water near the beach.

A long trip from Newark, Delaware staying overnight at a RV camp along the way. Our site is spacious, under some trees (by request), flat with pine needles and leaves carpeting the sandy soil. A beautiful view of the camp lake and, further out, after more RVs, the ocean. The bathrooms aren't a quality and as clean as we expected. The Wi-Fi signal is week. More after we rest and settle in.

We made a reservation in person a year in advance and had the lady been less friend I would have told her my feelings but my family wanted to be on the beach and we didn't like the other options after driving through them. During check in a different lady was SUPER nice!

This park is BIG, we were the third spot from the beach, so 30 seconds and we were on sand. The 50 amp seemed a little weak on weekends when it filled up but during the week it seemed better.

One thing we liked is that you can only use a golf cart if you have a handicap sticker so there aren't a bunch of 8 year olds carting around.

The beach is awesome and just N of the park's beach there is 1/2 of undeveloped land so the beach is very quiet. We'd stay here again.

This park is huge, but we LOVED being steps away from the beach. We walked it morning, noon and/or nights. The neighbors were quiet and friendly and it was a good thing as they are close. Campsite had nice facilities and provided trash bags and trash pick up each day. Wifi was terrible...never did get a strong enough signal to use. Still, I'd camp there again for the proximity to miles of beach. I was able to get my 10,000 steps in each day. That said, if you are looking for remote, this one sure isn't it. Everyone at the travel park was friendly and helpful.

Tight spaces, but the tradeoff was 75 steps to the beach (on our site). Pretty quiet, nice pool and lazy river. Definitely laid back compared to Lakewood and other places in Myrtle Beach. Very clean bathrooms/showers.

We did a lot of research before staying here and were a little worried about the size of the campground, however, even though close quarters, it is a quiet place. The best parts are being so close to the beach...we were a 3 minute walk over to the beach. The weather was perfect in October and the location is great...near grocery, malls, restaurants, etc.

Negatives were wifi speed, but the office will provide you help with that...just call the tech support number and they offer boosters while you are there if you need it. This helped us get a better signal for working. Not a big fan of the huge campground size and being so close to your neighbor, so that is a negative for me.

Restrooms and facilities were always very clean and generally not really used much. Sundays they have a church service, which we thought was a great option to worship close.

The Breakfast on the Beach seemed like a good idea, open on weekends, but we would not recommend the food at all. It was overpriced and served on paper goods, and the taste was just OK.

The area overall is a great place to visit and we would stay here again.

Large family campground located on the beach. Our site was located about 100 ft. away from the public beach, just over a small sand berm. This resort park has all the amenities needed to keep families entertained. We stayed in the off-season, so the outdoor pools and cafe were closed, and the renovation projects were going full-speed. The indoor pool was open. The large laundry was in desperate need of updating, and this project was getting started as we left. The resort is combined RV sites and perminent/rental park models. All the utilities worked fine. WIFI and cable were good. The sites are pull-throughs, hard-packed sand, and somewhat tight. Covered picnic tables. Restroom/shower facilities are good. Overall park condition was well-used, but acceptable. The management is friendly and helpful. This would be a great place to let the kids run wild in the summer. Lots to do in greater Myrtle Beach area. Overall, we think it was a great stay - no complaints. Would return.

We chose this park out of all the oceanfront parks in Myrtle Beach because this park does not practice breed discrimination (canine racism).

This was our first time at this park, so we were delighted that they honored our request to be close to the beach. We were one space away from being beach front. Our neighbor who was one space closer seemed to be a long-term resident and was very friendly.

Most of the sites are pull-through, making set-up and take-down easy.

We slept every night with the windows open, listening to the sound of the ocean! We were also close to the basketball court, so we did have some noise from teens out past curfew on Saturday, but they dispersed after 11:30 or so.

The bath houses were very clean, and the pools were all sparkling, although we only used the indoor pool as the outdoor pool (like the ocean) is a bit cool this time of year.

We were toad-less this trip, but had no problem getting a Lyft into town. The outlet mall, Golden Corral, and a large strip center with WalMart, Marshalls, Ross, and Dollar Tree are all within a half-mile walk.

The gift shop on site contains a Camping World section. Everything seemed reasonably priced. There is also an on-site restaurant, Breakfast by the Sea, that is open on Saturday and Sunday mornings this time of year.

The campsite issues garbage bags on check-in, one for each day of your stay. You can put your garbage at the end of your campsite, and it gets picked up daily. Unfortunately, you have to take your recyclables to the bath houses. It would be nice if it were a bit easier to recycle than to throw recyclables in the trash, which we saw many people do. The onsite restaurant uses Styrofoam and plastic disposables, which further adds to the environmental burden.

The sites were nice, except for a few issues. Our site, along with some others, had just an open pipe for the sewer--no lid and no threaded or flanged connection, so we had to hold the sewer line in place when we dumped. A lot of campers had weighted plastic bags on top of the sewer connection. There were a lot of cigarette butts on our site. During our stay, we had a load left by a dog that was not ours. But other than that, no complaints.

We loved this place! It was our first stay in a resort like this and we weren’t disappointed. Sure it’s a bit pricey, but totally affordable for a couple of nights. We had lots of neighbors in our full-hookup area, but the spaces still felt laid out nice and semi private. The bathrooms and showers were always clean and stocked, and the pool area was equally well-attended. We enjoyed splashing around in the play area, tried the lazy river and the indoor heated pool. The accessibility to the beach was awesome — we took walks in the evening and runs in the morning. Beer in the camp store was a tad expensive. There was a bunch of Halloween activities going on the weekend we were there - trick or treating for the kids, a pet costume contest but it was always peaceful and we got good sleep. The place is huge, lots of full-timers but again, very well laid out. We’ll absolutely be back!

Only 2 bummers were the fact that when it rained, our site got soaked. And its all sand and dirt. So wet sand=wet sandy RV floor. I would have loved to seen concrete pads, but you can’t always get what you want! And the WIFI sucks. Don’t count on it. Super spotty from our site. The free cable was great though.

Great location! Nice site: pull-through, close to the beach, level, with a covered area to hang a hammock. It's convenient to everything with restaurants and shopping within waling distance (less than 1 mile). The internet was fantastic (7.02 up / 6.55 down) which allowed us to work and stream!

One small negative, there were TONS of "sand-burs". Every time we walked the dog they had dozens in their paws. A little weed killer would go a long way. One BIG negative, the staff was outright rude! At one point I walked into the store to buy a mask (as required), my shirt was covering my face. The staff person literally yelled across the store telling me I had to leave. I said I was just there to get a mask, which didn't matter. While this was happening there was a gentleman paying at the register with no mask and the other cashier had his mask on his chin (covering nothing). It would have been easy for her to just say "I'm sorry. We require masks. Someone can bring a mask out to you, then you can come in and pay." Rather, she went on a power trip, embarrassed a guest and did nothing to solve the problem. There were 2 other interactions where the staff was dismissive at best.

We were there right as the state started to re-open from the COIVD shutdown. The amenities were limited as expected. The pool opened while we were there to a limited number of guests at a time. The restrooms opened halfway through our stay and were VERY clean. The laundry, shop and restaurant were open on a limited basis and required a mask to enter. Even on a limited basis the amenities were very nice. They were well maintained, clean and well stocked. The store was fairly expensive (as you might expect with a captive group).

Stayed in Jan. of 2014. Quite a distance to the beach. Cool pier. Nice restrooms and laundry room. Nice sites. The park is very, VERY close to the airport. Wave to the folks flying. Probably a very convenient place to stay during the prime season. Just a little too loud and commercial for our tastes.

' src=

Autumn camping on Myrtle Beach State Park sites numbers 73 and 75 could cost you thousands of dollars in property damage to your vehicle and RV.

In October 2017, our Ford pick up truck was pelted by falling in hickory nuts causing 42 dents and $1800 in repair cost while tent camping on site number 73. Had we had our new trailer it to would have been dented by falling hickory nuts.

Both site 73 and 75 both have hickory trees overhanging the sites. Hickory nuts fall every year and surely can damage vehicles and RVs on these sites.

Since hickory nuts fall every year, avoid these two sites in the autumn.

' src=

10 min walk to the beach, in the flight path of Myrtle Beach’s busy airport, but beautiful beaches and many shaded sites.

' src=

Stay away from sites 73, 75, 76 in fall. These sites should be closed because of danger from falling hickory nuts. Site 76 should not be on campsite photos best sites list very close to adjoining sites and small. There are many sites better than #76.

' src=

Thanks for the heads up on site #76 (and the others). We will remove site #76 from our favorite list at Myrtle Beach State Park.

We’ve stayed here a number of times for spring break. It’s a great place to camp with your family especially if you have teens. They can walk or ride bikes down to the beach, there’s a nice nature center, and hiking trails. We really appreciate all the foliage – most of the other campgrounds in the area are parking lots.

25 Best Things to Do in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Planning a trip to the Grand Strand? These activities and attractions in Myrtle Beach will keep everyone in your group happy.

myrtle beach travel park site map

Located in the middle of the Grand Strand that stretches for 60 miles along South Carolina's Atlantic Coast, Myrtle Beach attracts tourists galore with its bustling oceanfront boardwalk, gorgeous beaches, golf courses, nightlife, and more. While summer is a popular time to visit, it's a year-round destination with attractions for every season, travel style, and budget.

Here are 25 fun things to do in Myrtle Beach, from soaring above the sandy strip to embracing your inner pirate on a themed cruise — this is the old stomping ground of Blackbeard and the gang, after all.

See Myrtle Beach from above on the SkyWheel.

Take in miles of Myrtle Beach's skyline and ocean views from the SkyWheel , a 200-foot Ferris wheel with snazzy all-glass, gondola-style boxes that allow 360-degree views from high up. For a VIP experience, you and three friends can lounge on leather seats in your own glass-floored car.

Race along the tracks in go-karts.

Head to The Track for a go-kart ride on the Mighty Myrtle elevated track, where drivers ride up three and a half stories and circle back down with an exciting drop at the end. At the Broadway Grand Prix , seven go-kart tracks range from the Pro Track for experienced drivers to the Family Track for all levels. There's also a Junior Racer and Kids Track so everyone can get behind the wheel for some driving fun.

Root for the home team.

For some local baseball action, check out the Myrtle Beach Pelicans , a Single-A Affiliate team of the Chicago Cubs. Promotions include Fireworks Fridays and a chance for kids ages 12 and under to run the bases after every game.

Soak up the sun at the beach

Myrtle Beach is home to dozens of public beaches that are perfect for sunning, swimming, surfing, wading, and searching for seashells and shark teeth along the shore. Several beaches offer wheelchair access as well as chairs equipped with balloon tires, making them more accessible to everyone.

Explore the shore by Jet Ski or banana boat.

Ride with your group of three to 10 on a banana boat, a yellow banana-shaped tube that's towed through the waves. You can choose from several Myrtle Beach companies, including Downwind Sails and Express Watersports . Rent a Jet Ski to speed through the ocean at your own pace, or join a tour for a guided excursion through the Intracoastal Waterway's tributaries for sightseeing and fun. Companies such as Island Adventure Watersports and Express Watersports offer rentals and tours.

Go on a guided kayak tour.

Take a guided kayak tour through Myrtle Beach's streams and backwaters to experience the unique environments and wildlife of the area, including the Waccamaw River, marshes, and local islands. Tours are offered by J & L Kayakin g and Great Escapes Kayak Expeditions , among other locally owned companies.

Keep an eye out for dolphins.

Go on a cruise to see dolphins swimming alongside the boat, or spend a day deep-sea fishing with one of several Myrtle Beach companies such as Voyager or Hurricane Fleet . You can also soar over the area on a parasail adventure for a bird's-eye view of Myrtle Beach and the Atlantic. Feel the breeze, spot some dolphins, and enjoy a thrilling experience with Downwind Sails, Express Watersports, or New Wave Watersports .

Hit the water on your own.

Take out a pontoon boat, stand-up paddleboard, canoe, or scuba gear from one of the many Myrtle Beach rental companies to explore the area at your own pace. There are plenty of places to go on the river as well as along the coast.

Play classic arcade games.

Kids of all ages (or anyone who considers themselves to be young at heart) will have a blast at the  Myrtle Beach Pinball Museum . It costs $12 per hour to access to the interactive museum's 26 vintage pinball machines from the 1970s, '80s, and '90s. You won't have to worry about digging for loose change or purchasing tokens — once inside, all machines are set to free play, so you can spend every minute just enjoying the game.

Tee off at top golf courses.

More than 90 public, private, and semi-private golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area make it a favorite destination for golf fans from all over. Consider the variety of price ranges, landscapes, and courses designed by famed golf course architects like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Robert Trent Jones, every golfer can find the perfect place to play.

Opt for a kid-friendly miniature golf course.

For family fun and entertainment, Myrtle Beach boasts more than 50 miniature golf courses, with a variety of themes, prices, and locations to choose from. Even if you're not traveling with kids, it's a great date-night activity or a fun way to strike up a little friendly competition. Some of the most popular courses include the Atlantis-themed Mt. Atlanticus Minotaur Golf , Neverland-inspired Captain Hook's Adventure Golf , and the indoor-outdoor Cancun Lagoon .

Visit a world-class art museum.

Once you've had your fill of the beach, head inside to check out the impressive permanent collection of Southern art, antique maps, historical prints, and crafts at the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum . Don't forget to stop by the gift shop to pick up souvenirs in the form of books, jewelry, stationery, or home decor.

Listen to live music for free.

There's nothing like stumbling upon a band or musician putting on a great show, especially when it's free. That's what you get during the Music on Main Concert Series on Main Street, running perpendicular to Ocean Boulevard, in North Myrtle Beach. The series takes place on Thursdays from June through September.

Get hands-on at the Children's Museum.

Traveling with little ones? Head to the EdVenture Children’s Museum , where kids can get in on the action with immersive exhibits showing them how things work at a supermarket, at the beach (geared toward ages three and under), in a cafe, and at the doctor's and dentist's office. Other displays focus on STEM topics such as space and flight, while a few more take a closer look at auto mechanics, motor skills and balance, performing arts, construction, art, magnets, and wind tunnels.

Admire plants and animals at Brookgreen Gardens.

Brookgreen Garden s is home to 9,127 acres featuring stunning botanical gardens, an extensive collection of American sculptures, the Lowcountry Zoo, and the Lowcountry History and Wildlife Preserve. Whether you make time to visit just one or several of these attractions, you're in for a real treat.

Take in the area's natural beauty.

Luckily for nature lovers, the area is home to two state parks that are both worth visiting. Make time for Myrtle Beach State Park , an oceanfront destination with nature trails, bike paths, equestrian trails, a fishing pier, and several picnic areas. Located at the southern end of Myrtle Beach, there's also Huntington Beach State Park , which has 2,500 acres of hiking trails, marshes, bays, and opportunities for overnight camping.

Sip the day away at a nearby winery.

Duplin Winery is a great place to sample a variety of sweet vino while enjoying cheese, crackers, and a virtual tour of its Rose Hill, North Carolina, home base. As part of the tour, you'll have a chance to hand-bottle your own wine to take home. Nearby, Carolina Vineyards Winery , located near the Intracoastal Waterway in North Myrtle Beach, offers a variety of tastings, including frozen wine during the summer.

Sample local beers at a microbrewery.

New South Brewing , a microbrewery in Myrtle Beach that's been open since 1998, serves ales, lagers, IPAs, and seasonal specialties such as Oktoberfest and Dark Star Porter. Meanwhile, Tidal Creek Brewhouse offers not just small-batch craft beers but also freshly brewed coffee and Lowcountry food favorites like fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits.

Geek out over classic cars.

Classic car enthusiasts can geek out over all their favorite models at the  Wheels of Yesteryear Vintage Automobile Museum . Open in Myrtle Beach since 2009, the museum showcases a collection of more than 150 American-made cars and trucks that husband-and-wife founders Paul and Carol Cummings have been assembling over decades. Visit the gift shop to pick up nostalgic die-cast collectible versions of your favorite vehicles, plus shirts and other car-centric souvenirs.

Learn about wildlife at Ripley's Aquarium.

Courtesy of Ripley's Aquarium of Myrtle Beach

Don't miss  Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach ; not only is it a wonderful place to view sea creatures like stingrays up close, but also sloths and other South American critters. Check the website before you go to book additional experiences such as behind-the-scenes tours of the Marine Science Center, penguin encounters, glass-bottom boat rides, sleepover parties, or the ever-popular Breakfast With a Mermaid event.

Embrace your inner pirate.

Get ready to don cheesy pirate gear and practice your best "Arrrrrrr!" Myrtle Beach — and the entire Carolina coast, for that matter — was once a haven for Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, and heaps of other infamous pirates back in the day, so why not get in on some family-friendly pirate action on a themed cruise while you're in town? Blackbeard’s Pirate Cruise  and  Pirate Adventures of Myrtle Beach each offer kid-friendly sailings that might include temporary pirate tattoos, costumes for the kiddos, stories about those who once sailed through these waters, or a treasure-seeking adventure that ends in an epic water cannon battle.

Cruise the Intracoastal Waterway on a riverboat.

If you'd like to enjoy a boat ride that's a little less pirate-y, you can always opt to cruise the Intracoastal Waterway on the  Barefoot Queen riverboat instead. She features several indoor and outdoor decks to spread out on, with onboard narration and entertainment, as well as a fully stocked bar to enjoy while you take in views of the surrounding area. Scenic daytime and lunch cruises are 1.5 hours long, while dinner cruises last two hours.

Master the waves at Kokopelli Surf Camp.

Pick up a new beach hobby at Kokopelli Surf Camp , which runs group and private lessons designed for every level, whether you're just starting out or want to brush up on your skills. Three-day camp sessions are also offered for kids, while surfboard rentals are available if you'd rather do your own thing.

Experience early-1900s farm life.

Part of the Horry County Museum, the L.W. Paul Living History Farm  lets you see what it was like to live in the area as a farmer between 1900 and 1955. Demonstrations and presentations change seasonally according to what's happening on the farm. Guided tours are free and last about an hour, so it's worth checking out if you're suddenly craving a little time away from the beach.

Tour a popular local distillery.

Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Twelve 33 Distillery for a chance to see how some of your favorite spirits are created "from grain to glass," and how locally sourced ingredients make the craft cocktails served here really stand out. Among the distillery's specialties are several types of rye whiskey, spiced rum, vodka, and gin with ties to South Carolina's prohibition era. Pro tip: book the VIP tour to enjoy a special tasting flight in the distillery's secret speakeasy.
