The rock 'n' roll legends are saying farewell

Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons are prepping their last hurrah: The rock ‘n’ roll legends have announced “The Last Encores Tour,” a farewell round of North American concerts through 2023 and most of 2024.

Luckily for fans, Valli — wbo’ll be celebrating his 90th birthday next May — is making the most of his last outing, which begins next week on October 13th and extends all the way through October of next year. Along the way, he’ll make stops playing iconic venues such as Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, Orlando’s Walt Disney Theater, and New York’s Radio City Music Hall. The tour also includes multiple stints in Las Vegas.

“I am eternally grateful for the love and support of our fans throughout the decades,” Valli said in a statement. “I always loved touring and can’t wait to see the fans.”

With unforgettable tunes like “Sherry,” “Walk Like A Man,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Rag Doll,” “December ‘63—Oh What A Night,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” and of course, “Grease.” His songs have been omnipresent in other iconic movies such as  The Deer Hunter ,  Dirty Dancing ,  Mrs. Doubtfire ,  Conspiracy Theory , and  The Wanderers . As many as 200 artists have done cover versions of Frankie’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” from Nancy Wilson’s jazz treatment to Lauryn Hill’s hip-hop makeover. Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons have sold over 100 million records worldwide. Despite being 88 years old, Frankie Valli is nowhere near done performing on the live stage.

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons scheduled 23 shows across North America , where they plan to perform their greatest hits such as “Walk Like A Man,” “Sherry” and “Working My Way Back To You.”

The tour began on Jan. 13 in Atlanta and will wrap up on June 30 in Chautauqua, New York .

While touring, Valli will make stops in Newark on April 28 and Red Bank on June 1 .

Touring at 84-years-old actually is unusual.

Iconic crooner Tom Jones just announced he’ll embark on a 17-concert North American tour this September and October.

Midway through the quick, late summer run, the ‘Ages & Stages Tour’ will take Jones and his timeless stable of his to a trio of New York and New Jersey venues.

First, he’ll swing into Atlantic City’s Hard Rock Live on Sunday, Sept. 15. Two nights later, the “What’s New Pussycat” singer drops into Brooklyn’s new Paramount Theatre on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The quick Tri-State run will come to a close at New York City’s Beacon Theatre on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

For those concerned that the octogenarian won’t sound like he did back when he won the Grammy for Best New Artist back in 1966, you need not worry.

“At 82, his voice was as strong as ever, and before I knew it I was up on my feet dancing in front of my chair,” Next Avenue wrote about a 2023 Jones show.

Most recently, the Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee released his 12-track  “Surrounded By Time”  album in 2021.

Featuring Jones’ signature deep voice, he shies away from his typically upbeat fare for more melancholy, reflective fare like the heavy opening tune  “I Won’t Crumble With You If You Fall.”

Still, he has fun on catchy tracks like  “Popstar”  and  “Samson and Delilah.”

For our money, it’s the best classic rock record of the ’20s.

Ms. Lauryn Hill and the Fugees are back to settle “The Score” once again.

Starting in August, the trio will embark on their ‘The Miseducation Anniversary Tour’ where they’ll pay tribute to Hill’s five-time Grammy-winning album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” as well as the Fugees’ iconic record “The Score” at venues all over North America.

Along the way, Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel are slated to make a pair of New York and New Jersey stops.

First, they’ll land at Wantagh, NY’s Jones Beach Theater on Friday, Sept. 20. The following evening, they’ll close the tour in New Jersey — their home state — when the group headlines at Holmdel’s PNC Bank Arts Center .

At all 18 U.S. and Canada shows the Hip-Hop legends will be joined by Hill’s son, reggae singer YG Marley.

A man who founded an animal sanctuary and has a following of more than 12 million people on social media, will speak in central Pa. this fall.

Lee Asher, founder of The Asher House in Salem, Oregon, will be at American Music Theatre in Lancaster at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024.

Ticket prices range from $19 to $49 and will go on sale on Friday, June 28.

Asher will talk about his journey to saving animals, inspiring others and finding his purpose in life.

“A prominent figure in the animal rescue community - with a massive social media following of more than 12 million people across platforms - he has used his influence to raise awareness about animal welfare and inspire countless individuals to make a difference in the lives of animals in need. His tireless dedication to rescuing dogs, cats, horses, and other animals has earned him a reputation as a true champion for the voiceless,” according to a news release from American Music Theatre.

“With his infectious energy, humor, and powerful storytelling, Asher continues to touch hearts and change lives, both human and animal alike. During his live show, he takes his audiences on a rollercoaster of emotions as he recounts his struggles, failures, and ultimate triumphs in building one of the largest animal sanctuaries in the United States.”

Asher also will speak on Sunday, Oct. 13, at State Theatre Center for the Arts in Easton, Pa.
