Star Trek: Starfleet Command

Star Trek: Starfleet Command is a singleplayer and multiplayer third-person and top-down view vehicle combat game in the Star Trek: Starfleet Command series.

The game received a several official patches and extra downloadable missions post-release. All post-release content was streamlined into the Gold Edition (known as the Captain's Edition in Germany) release in May 2000, which would be the version of the game that would later enter digital distribution.

As of Windows 10, the game crashes in the early game after a few commands are entered, which can be resolved with a single configuration file change .

Star Trek: Starfleet Command Review

Starfleet Command is undoubtedly the best combat-oriented Trek game yet.

By Stephen Poole on April 12, 2000 at 10:05AM PDT

When Star Trek fans finally got their hands on Interplay's long-awaited Starfleet Academy a couple years back, a great many of them were disappointed to find that what they'd hoped would be a full-fledged starship simulation was, at its core, merely a run-of-the-mill space-combat game with Trek trappings. Interplay must have realized that Starfleet Academy just wasn't what Star Trek die-hards wanted, so it based its next Star Trek game on the board game Star Fleet Battles. The result is virtually a polar opposite of Starfleet Academy: Though its production values aren't nearly as slick, it's light-years ahead of its predecessor in terms of detail, strategy, tactics, and replay value. But while Starfleet Command is undoubtedly the best combat-oriented Trek game yet dished up for the PC, continued play reveals a slew of problems that keep it from achieving the "instant classic" status that some have hastily applied to it.

Just like the board game it's based on, Starfleet Command is almost staggering in its scope and, at least at first, in its complexity. In the single-player campaign and skirmish games, you can choose to represent one of six species. The familiar Federation, Romulans, and Klingons are here, as well as the lizard-like Gorn (featured in a single episode of the original series), the Lyrans (a derivative of the Kzinti, from the board game), and the Hydrans (three arms and three legs - too bad you never see one up close). With three different eras to choose from, that adds up to a whopping 18 different campaigns, featuring progressively faster and more sophisticated ships.

The prospect of 18 campaigns is pretty exciting in itself, but the manual claims that Starfleet Command goes much further with a "dynamic universe generator" called Dynaverse, designed to ensure that "every campaign game of Starfleet Command will be different." Unfortunately, that isn't exactly the case. Certain parameters of each campaign may vary - the Federation might be at war with the Gorn and the Hydrans one time, then fighting the Romulans if you restart. Some of these random variations can be inconsistent, with bitter enemies accusing you of breaking treaties that never even took place. Otherwise, certain campaign scripts remain identical every time, such as after you join the Federation Special Task Force or Klingon Black Staff sects.

If you elect not to join elite organizations such as these, the missions basically boil down to fighting pirates, escorting convoys, and defending bases. This can last for about an hour before you're handed a half-dozen heavy cruisers and told to destroy an enemy base. That takes about ten seconds, and then the campaign's over and you're told you're being hailed as a hero back home. Clearly, the only satisfying route in Starfleet Command is to join the Special Forces of a given race, whose scripted campaigns are more involving than the less linear ones.

There's still plenty of campaigning even if each of the 18 scenarios plays out similarly each time, and the process of acquiring new and better ships can be enough to keep you going for hours and hours. You buy new ships and equipment and recruit new officers by spending "prestige points" earned by completing missions successfully. The better you perform, the more prestige points you earn. The interface for buying and outfitting ships is clean and efficient, and an accessible Vessel Library makes it simple to determine if your prospective purchase is suitable for your next mission.

Though you nominally have officers assigned to all the usual posts - helm, security, science, tactical, repair, weapons, and so on - the bottom line is that it's up to you to control each of these ship functions. It sounds like a lot to do, especially when you toss in stuff like sending over "hit and run" teams of marines to capture an opposing vessel or to destroy enemy ship components (which you cannot target specifically with your onboard weapons). But the game's tutorials help you master the basics in very short order. It's also helpful that you can pause the game at any time and issue all the orders you like before resuming play. Yes it's complex, but it isn't overwhelming.

Once in combat, you'll be blown away by the richly detailed 3D starships, and the visual effects for weapons and explosions are equally impressive. But the decision to place these 3D models into what's essentially a 2D playing field may have you scratching your head: The only navigation options are for speed and turning right or left (there is no first-person view, by the way). The result is that battles often look like they're being fought on a galactic turntable, especially if you use the "padlock" view to keep the targeted ship in sight. It's troubling, as is the fact that ships appear to pass through one another - you can even see your missiles pass through friendly units on their way to a target. However, in the end you'll get used to it - but then you'll begin to run into other issues that are more difficult to accept.

The troubles begin with mission briefings, which give you so little information that you'll sometimes have no clue about your objective halfway through the mission. And for a game of fleet tactics, communications in Starfleet Command are extremely limited: About the only options you'll get after hailing someone are "taunt" and "surrender" - even when dealing with allies! And it's impossible to tell a ship in your fleet to attack a specific enemy unless it's the one you're targeting, which can be frustrating when you want a smaller ship to deal solely with smaller enemy ships while you tackle the big guys.

Meanwhile, the tactical map is almost worthless because you can't use it to order ship movement, and it doesn't identify the icons that are displayed - the only ship you can absolutely, positively identify from this map is your own since it's always in the middle. You can target an object by right-clicking on it in the tactical map, but to find out exactly what you've targeted you've got to eyeball it from the captain's chair - the same view you must use to send ships in your fleet to a specific location. Sure, this system works - you can zoom out a huge distance, select a friendly, then click at a point in space - but for ships as highly advanced as these, it seems pretty primitive.

Then there's the issue of ship identification. It seems almost obvious that hostiles should be highlighted in red for quick identification, but in Starfleet Command, they're bracketed in blue like everything else. You can supposedly use a target-enemy command to cut down on the confusion, but it sometimes winds up targeting planets and other nonhostile objects, possibly because some dangerous ships apparently aren't classified as enemies because you're not actually at war with them. You'll also begin to suspect the game's artificial intelligence routines after you lose enough times. These aren't what you'd call state of the art: Expect your security officer to speak nonsense from time to time, and beware while escorting convoys, for they're liable to run headlong into asteroids they've seen far in advance.

This is not to suggest that Starfleet Command isn't any fun. The huge array of options you're provided in battle - sending shuttles to attack enemies, reallocating power to meet the changing combat conditions, using tractors to hold incoming missiles at bay, and more - provide Starfleet Command with an unprecedented level of depth for a Star Trek game. Multiplayer Starfleet Command is also a real blast: Even with relatively high latencies on Mplayer, the action was smooth and satisfying. And the different multiplayer modes - base attack/defense, several variations on a "last man standing" theme, and a "pass the tribble" game where you attack enemies by beaming tribbles aboard their ships - meshed nicely with the game's complex tactics. But though you'll enjoy it for quite some time, you'll also realize that Starfleet Command could have spent more time in the dry dock before shipping to retail outlets.

The 10 Best Star Trek Video Games, According To Ranker

Star trek confirms doctor phlox's fate centuries after enterprise, star trek reveals one of the 21st century's biggest scientific breakthroughs is illegal in the future, quick links, all star trek fleet command codes for june 2024, entering codes in star trek fleet command.

Codes are one way players can upgrade their game in Star Trek Fleet Command . This game is about collecting new commanders, upgrading your fleet, and growing a base that can dominate the rest of the galaxy with diplomacy or aggression - the choice is up to you! While the codes will not win the game for you, they will give your fleet an advantage over your foes.

There are multiple cameos and appearances from stars such as Wil Wheaton in Star Trek Fleet Command that add flair to the game overall. Often, these guest appearances come with new commanders in the game , and collecting them is a part of the overall gameplay loop. However, if you have your eye on Captain Kirk, not only will a code this month give you access to him, but a new version of him is on the way.

The Star Trek franchise has produced several video games and Ranker has some thoughts on what are the best.

Active Codes Only

Spending money in Star Trek Fleet Command for more chests might help you level up your base faster, but the developers also put codes out there a few at a time that can allow you to grow your fleet for free. You may have to be more patient, but your wallet will thank you for using these codes later. Or it could also be a way to stretch your dollars a little further, and at least with this month's codes, you can get an Ultra Recruit commander for free .

Codes are free for your wallet but are not always available for certain players . Some codes come with an OPs level requirement, but luckily players usually have enough time to grind out the levels before the code expires. Each code has different rewards, but they are worth the time it will take to copy and enter the code.

New Methods For June 2024

To enter codes, you will first have to make it through at least a portion of the tutorial and begin building your Star Trek fleet . It will take about five to ten minutes, depending on how long you spend meandering through the menus, but it will sometimes ask you to open the menu. You can enter codes as soon as it gives you control and lets you explore that menu . This is then where the process gets a bit more complicated.

First, go to the upper right side of the screen and interact with the “ Claim ” button , which looks like a little Chest. It will take you to a menu where the daily Chests should be available next to a big box with a Chest that says " Redeem ."

You likely have a few other chests available , so go ahead and open as many as you have if you want before clicking Redeem. Previously, when you clicked on the Redeem button, it would take you to the game’s website and have you enter the code there. That is no longer the case.

If you do not see a "Claim" prompt, it may have a chest with a number under it . This would indicate you do not have any current chests to claim, but you can still click on them to reach the "Redeem" prompt.

Instead, it will now blank out most of the screen and drop down a new text field with a button labeled “Redeem” next to it, as shown in one of the images above. Then, it is finally time to enter the codes.

Enter them exactly as they appear in the table above , with any punctuation and capitalization. It will not recognize the code. If you, for say, type “ eviscerator ” instead of “ EVISCERATOR ,” you will not get the 24,000 currency. Once entered correctly, press Redeem, and the rewards will be added to your account.

If it says the code isn’t valid, be sure you haven’t claimed that code previously and that you are the correct OPs level for that code. If none of those things are the problem, try entering it in again and recheck the formatting.

Once that is all done, the rewards should automatically be added to your account. If the reward is a chest, it should be back under that “Claim” button in the menu, and you can open it immediately. If it is another type of currency or character shards, they should be found in the relevant menus. If you are not at the proper OP level, it will simply tell you are not eligible for the rewards .

For the event store currency, you should spend it during the current event if possible. The currency sometimes changes between events, and there’s no guarantee it will be carried over. Artifact Shards are used to upgrade certain items that you can earn starting at Level 30 in Artifact Restoration bundles .

For the Kirk shards, it will automatically unlock Captain Kirk in Star Trek as a commander and give you a host of other Ultra Recruit shards. You can go to the “Recruit” section of the menu where you redeemed the codes and click on “Ultra Recruit” to redeem them. Each chest costs 800 shards, meaning you can now open five chests. There is an option to buy five at once, making it slightly easier for you.

With all that said and done, those are the rewards you can unlock for June 2024 . Each of these is helpful and should give you a nice boost. Being able to open 5 Ultra Chests at the beginning of your journey should help get you that much closer to some more elite commanders. That is why redeeming the codes in Star Trek Fleet Command is important before it is too late.

Summary [ ]

It is 2379 , a few months before the events of Star Trek Nemesis . The alliance between the Federation and the Klingons has never been stronger. Together they have constructed a huge space station called Unity One to represent the achievements of both peoples. Unfortunately, the Romulans do not want the station in operation because of the station's sensor array, which can detect cloaked vessels many sectors away.

The Borg Collective is not involved with the storyline of Star Trek: Starfleet Command III . They are a secondary race in multiplayer and conquest modes. Copies of the game sold at Best Buy had an independent Borg campaign that ultimately centered on reassimilating a group of renegade Borg.

Rakelli [ ]

The Rakelli are a serpent / humanoid race who originate from Klingon territory. They claim that areas of Klingon space were a part of the Rakelli empire before the Klingons conquered them. Since their fall about a hundred years ago, the Rakelli have sought cold-blooded vengeance against the Klingons, raiding convoys and ships. They wait for the day when they can take revenge on the Klingons. Known Rakelli bases include Beta Thoridor II, and Alpha TyGorkor.

Ferengi [ ]

Although the Ferengi Alliance is friendly with the Federation, some vessels still attack smaller ships and freighters. They act very similar to pirates.

The Mirror Universe

Q: What is the Mirror Universe and how do I get there? A: This is a brand new alternative Universe where the Terran Empire reigns supreme. You will be able to warp into MU space by spending Mirror Vouchers to travel through Interphasic Rifts. There will be around 50 new systems in MU space and traveling deeper into the Universe will require Rift Keys. You cannot travel freely in and out of this new Universe. Q: Where do I go to find an Interphasic Entry Rift to get into the MU? A: Locations for the Warp will include Mirror Alpha Centauri, Mirror Wolf, and Mirror Sirius.

star trek starfleet command

Q: Do I need to use one voucher per ship that enters the MU? A: The entry cost is 300 vouchers per ship that enters the MU. You can take more than one ship, but the costs will add up.

Q: What is the voucher duration? A: They will have 20 minutes of base duration at launch. When time runs out, your Ships active in the MU will be auto-extracted, keeping everything gained while in the MU.

Q: How long can I stay in the MU and how do I leave? A: You can remain there until you are destroyed or the voucher expires. While in Mirror space you cannot recall your ships, to escape you’ll need to find an Extract Rift and use it to warp to safety. Extract Rifts never have a cost to use!

Q: Can my Alliance travel with me and cooperate while we’re there? A: If you each spend vouchers individually, yes you can play together. You won’t be able to use either disco jumping or gorn wormholes to enter the MU.

Q: Can I travel to the MU with any Ship, at any level? Any restrictions? A: This area of space is available for players of Ops level 40+ with Ships having a minimum warp range of 50.

Q: What can I find in Mirror Universe space only? A: Trellium is a substance exclusive to this universe. There will be mines of raw Trellium scattered around the systems and you will also be able to collect Trellium by destroying hostiles. There are not any uses for it raw, but when you refine it you get Liquid Trellium.

star trek starfleet command

Q: What is Trellium and how many types of it are available? A: There will be two types of raw Trellium, A and D. From refining them you will get Liquid Trellium. Liquid Trellium-D is essential to upgrade Officers from the Mirror Universe (like Picard and Data at launch) as well as using it in the Store.

star trek starfleet command

Q: When can I get the Refinery for the Mirror Universe? How does it work? A: You unlock it at Ops level 40. To transform raw Trellium you will need a Refinery. The MU refinery also offers Mirror Universe Free Entry Vouchers, for example, among many other valuable items and materials. However, one of the most important items that you can get from it is Mirror Dust: this is the new currency for the brand new and powerful Mirror Research Tree.

Q: How many new Researches are available and which ones are the best to survive in the MU? A: There will be around 70 (!) new Research nodes. The Mirror Research tree comes with unparalleled power and survivability bonuses. It’s an integral part of your Mirror Universe exploits. This is the only research tree in the game to offer Apex Barrier and will significantly improve your chances at survival in both PVP and PVE battles.

Q: Does the Mirror Tree research work only for MU? A: MU research is sourced from the MU but its effects apply everywhere in the game.

Q: Is the Apex Barrier useful in the Mirror Universe? Why should I get it? A: The Apex Barrier is a brand new modifier, essential for raising your chances of survivability. The Barrier provides true damage mitigation from all damage sources after all other bonuses. For example, every 10,000 points of an active Apex Barrier will reduce damage taken equivalent to +100% effective health (meaning that the damage you can take goes up by 100%).

star trek starfleet command

Q: Is the Mirror Universe dangerous? What type of hostiles can I find there? A: It’s not a friendly place - remember: there is no protected cargo in the MU. If your ships are destroyed, everything will be gone. Do your best to exit it safely. Inside the MU you will fight the new Terran hostiles. Their Abilities are the following: Dismantlement : At the start of the round, if the enemy player is hull breached, this ship increases its standard damage by a percentage for 1 round.

Deadlock : At combat start, Hull breach to the enemy player for the duration of combat.

Photophobia : At the start of the round, if the enemy player is hull breached, this ship increases its Isolytic damage by a percentage for 1 round.

star trek starfleet command

Q: Can other players hit you inside the Warp Zone or MU systems? Can players hit you in the Extract Zone? A: Players can hit you everywhere in the MU.

Q: What kind of Officers and Ships should I bring with me, to increase my chance of survival? A: You can challenge the MU any way you want, but whatever you do, make sure that your Apex Barrier is active. It will be very difficult to explore every corner of the Mirror Universe without it.

The Disco has saved the galaxy multiple times in the 23rd and 32nd centuries. Through it all, several people sat in Discovery's Captain's chair. Here is everyone who has commanded (or was supposed to command) the bridge as Captain of the Discovery in Star Trek: Discovery 's five seasons.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 - Everything We Know

Star Trek: Discovery season 5 is the final season of Paramount+'s flagship series, and here's everything we know about Captain Burnham's last voyages.

Captain Gabriel Lorca (Mirror)

Discovery's first captain was a fraud from the mirror universe.

Captain Gabriel Lorca (Jason Issacs) was the first Captain of the Discovery, and he was a fraud. Lorca was actually from the Mirror Universe , and he replaced his Prime Universe counterpart, the former Captain of the lost USS Buran. As Captain of the Discovery, Lorca wanted to weaponize its spore drive with the stated goal of Starfleet winning the Klingon War . But Lorca's vaulting ambition was to find a way back to the Mirror Universe to complete his master plan of overthrowing Emperor Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh). Lorca was also obsessed with Michael Burnham, who was his lover in the Mirror Universe. Locra's attempt to overthrow Georgiou failed, resulting in his death.

The Mirror Lorca was, in his way, an effective Captain of the Discovery.

Lorca endures as perhaps Star Trek: Discovery' s best villain . The Mirror Lorca was, in his way, an effective Captain of the Discovery. Lorca was certainly adept at hiding his secrets and he was a stern taskmaster who ruffled the feathers of the scientists aboard Discovery, like Lt. Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp). However, to his credit, Lorca was also an experienced battle commander who led the USS Discovery to major victories over the Klingons. Still, the Mirror Lorca was revealed to be a manipulative liar and his legacy is a stain on the history of the USS Discovery that the crew has moved on from.

Captain Sylvia Tilly

Aka captain killy.

When the USS Discovery traveled to the Mirror Universe in Star Trek: Discovery season 1, Ensign Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman) had to don golden armor and pose as her Mirror Universe counterpart, Captain Sylvia Tilly of the ISS Discovery. Mirror Tilly earned the nickname "Captain Killy" for her homicidal tendencies , and playing this role was an education for the pure-hearted Tilly from Star Trek 's Prime Universe. However, Sylvia's brief time in the USS Discovery's center seat as "Captain Killy" did help her confidence to become First Officer of Discovery in Star Trek: Discovery season 2.

In Star Trek: Discovery season 4, Lieutenant Sylvia Tilly left the USS Discovery to become an instructor at the newly reopened Starfleet Academy.

Admiral Katrina Cornwell

A rare good starfleet admiral.

Vice Admiral Katrina Cornwell (Jayne Brook) was the Starfleet flag officer who oversaw the USS Discovery's missions. Cornwell was also an intimate the Prime Universe's Gabriel Lorca; yet, despite her prior training as a therapist, Katrina was fooled by the Mirror Lorca and never suspected he was from another reality. Admiral Cornwell temporarily took command of the Disco from Acting Captain Saru after the starship returned from the Mirror Universe in Star Trek: Discovery season 1.

Admiral Cornwell perished as she heroically saved the USS Enterprise from a missile sent by Control during the final battle of Star Trek: Discovery season 2.

Admiral Cornwell brought the USS Discovery to Starbase 1, only to learn it was conquered by the Klingons, who massacred its personnel. The Admiral's time in Discovery' s Captain's chair was short as Cornwell stepped aside for the starship's next, and even more unlikely, temporary Captain, who was even more dangerous than Gabriel Lorca . Admiral Cornwell later perished as she heroically saved the USS Enterprise from a missile sent by Control during the final battle of Star Trek: Discovery season 2.

Emperor Philippa Georgiou (Mirror)

"captain georgiou" almost committed genocide.

Perhaps the most absurd Captain of the Discovery was the Mirror Universe's Emperor Philippa Georgiou, who pretended to be her dead Prime Universe counterpart, Captain Georgiou . The Emperor proposed that Starfleet end the Klingon war by attacking Qo'noS, the Klingon homeworld , and detonating a hydrogen bomb inside the planet's mantle to render it uninhabitable. Desperate to put an end to the costly war, Starfleet Command shockingly backed this plot and Admiral Cornwell even agreed to allow the Emperor to pose as Captain Georgiou, who was "back from a classified assignment," and assume command of the Discovery.

Emperor Georgiou's time pretending to be Captain Georgiou was mercifully brief, and she escaped to Qo'noS after Michael Burnham stopped her plan. Instead, Burnham gave the hydrogen bomb detonator to L'Rell (Mary Chieffo), who used it to unite the Great Houses, end the war, and install herself as Klingon High Chancellor at the end of Star Trek: Discovery season 1 . Georgiou would resurface as part of Section 31 before joining Commander Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the USS Discovery's trip to the 32nd century. Georgiou was ultimately sent to an unknown time and place by the Guardian of Forever (Paul Guilfoyle) to save her life in Star Trek: Discovery season 3.

Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh will return as Emperor Georgiou in the first made-for-Paramount+ Star Trek movie, Star Trek: Section 31.

Discovery's Unknown Captain

A mystery star trek: discovery will probably never solve.

After the United Federation of Planets' triumph in the Klingon War and the reinstatement of Michael Burnham to her rank of Commander, the USS Discovery set a course to Vulcan in order to pick up its new Captain. However, Discovery was intercepted by the USS Enterprise at the end of Star Trek: Discovery season 1. Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) came aboard to temporarily take over command of the Discovery. As such, the Discovery never did make it to Vulcan and Trekkers never learned who the mystery Captain was supposed to be . Regardless, whoever it was never got to command the Discovery, which vanished into the 32nd century. Discovery's existence was redacted from Starfleet records by Lieutenant Spock (Ethan Peck) to protect his adopted sister, Michael Burnham.

Captain Christopher Pike

"be bold. be brave. be courageous.".

The Captain of the USS Enterprise , Christopher Pike was transferred to the USS Discovery at the start of Star Trek: Discovery season 2. Captain Pike's mission was to investigate and solve the mystery of the red burst signals that appeared across space. Pike's orders intersected with the disappearance of the Enterprise's Science Officer, Lt. Spock, who later joined his Captain and Michael Burnham aboard the Discovery. In addition, Pike learned of his ultimate fate that he would be critically injured by delta rays in a tragic accident in the future — but the Captain courageously chose to continue his Starfleet career and meet his destiny.

Christopher Pike was a welcome throwback to the mold of the classic Star Trek Captain , and Anson Mount's version updated the Starship Enterprise's original master, played by Jeffrey Hunter, who starred in the rejected first Star Trek pilot and was replaced with William Shatner's Captain James T. Kirk when NBC ordered Star Trek to go to series in 1966. Indeed, Mount's Captain Pike was so popular with Trekkers that he, Spock, and Number One (Rebecca Romijn) received their own spinoff aboard the Enterprise, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Captain Saru

The first kelpien in starfleet became captain of the discovery.

After stepping up and filling the big chair as Acting Captain multiple times during the chaos of Star Trek: Discovery seasons 1 and 2, Commander Saru (Doug Jones) finally became the official Captain of the Discovery in season 3, episode 3, "People of Earth." Saru had a long road to his well-deserved recognition as the USS Discovery's Captain. The first Kelpien in Starfleet, Saru was mentored by the late Captain Georgiou, and he was Science Officer aboard the ill-fated USS Shenzhou before he transferred to the USS Discovery and became Captain Lorca's First Officer.

Saru provided calm, steady leadership throughout the USS Discovery's constant leadership turmoil.

Saru's distinguished tenure as the USS Discovery's Number One led to his repeatedly assuming the role of Acting Captain, and Saru provided calm, steady leadership throughout Discovery's constant leadership turmoil. The Kelpien also underwent his people's Vahar'ai ritual, which evolved him and stripped him of his fears, and this only made Saru a more effective leader. There is no doubt Captain Saru has earned the respect and loyalty of Discovery's crew . However, Saru voluntarily left the Disco at the end of Star Trek: Discover y season 3, paving the way for a new Captain whom he recommended as his replacement. Mr. Saru returned as the USS Discovery's First Officer in Star Trek: Discovery season 4.

Saru became a Federation Ambassador in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, and was promoted to Admiral upon his marriage to President T'Rina (Tara Rosling) of Ni'Var.

Captain Michael Burnham

"captain burnham, that hope is you.".

Commander Michael Burnham finally became Captain of the Discovery at the end of Star Trek: Discovery season 3. Burnham yielded the Captaincy to Saru early in Discovery season 3 when she had doubts about wanting to remain in Starfleet after spending a year traveling the galaxy with Cleveland Booker (David Ajala). Ultimately, Burnham's heroics led her to her destiny and the Disco's Captain's chair. Michael saved the Federation from Osyraa (Janet Kidder), the leader of the Emerald Chain, who hijacked the USS Discovery. Coupled with Saru's choice to return to Kaminar at the end of Star Trek: Discovery season 3, Burnham finally got the promotion she waited almost a thousand years for.

Captain Michael Burnham is the undisputed most important starship Captain of the 32nd century.

The story of Star Trek: Discovery 's first 3 seasons was the story of Michael Burnham's redemption and journey to the Captain's chair. In Star Trek: Discovery season 4, Captain Burnham faced her gravest test to save the galaxy from the Dark Matter Anomaly while facing political pressure from new Federation President Laira Rillak (Chelah Horsdal) and the end of her romance with Book. Burnham led Discovery into another galaxy to make First Contact with Species 10-C, the creators of the Dark Matter Anomaly. Captain Michael Burnham is the undisputed most important starship Captain of the 32nd century, and her final mission is to seek "the greatest treasure in the known galaxy" in Star Trek: Discovery season 5.

Michael Burnham was promoted to Admiral as seen in Star Trek: Discovery' s series finale coda, which is set 30+ years in the future.

Lt. Commander Airiam

Discovery's tragic cyborg.

Lt. Commander Airiam (Hannah Cheesman) returned in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 4 , "Face the Strange". The cyborg tragically died in Star Trek: Discovery season 2, but a time bug planted on the USS Discovery by Moll (Eve Harlow) sent Captain Michael Burnham back to the 23rd century of Star Trek: Discovery season 1. Airiam was in command of the USS Discovery in the absence of Captain Gabriel Lorca. While Discovery's bridge crew was hostile toward Captain Burnham, it was Airiam who believed Michael that she time-traveled from the future. Airiam also learned her tragic fate but agreed with Burnham that she would go through with her sacrifice anyway to save Discovery.

Lt. Commander Gen Rhys

He's a constitution class man.

Lt. Commander Gen Rhys (Patrick Kwok-Choon) capably commanded the USS Discovery in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 8, "Labyrinths" . With both Captain Burnham and Commander Rayner at the Eternal Gallery and Archive, Rhys took over the center seat and led the USS Discovery into the dangerous badlands before engaging the attacking Breen. Rhys, who serves as the USS Discovery's tactical officer, kept the crew and starship safe, buying Burnham the crucial time she needed to pass Dr. Marina Derex's test and acquire the final clue to the Progenitors' treasure. Rhys impressively showed his potential as Captain of a starship.

Commander Rayner

I love the feeling of interrupting something..

Perhaps Star Trek: Discovery' s most successful and popular new character , Commander Rayner (Callum Keith Rennie) was Acting Captain of the USS Discovery in the final two episodes of Star Trek: Discovery season 5. Rayner was introduced in Star Trek: Discovery season 5's premiere as Captain Rayner of the USS Antares. The Kellerun was nearly drummed out of Starfleet but Captain Michael Burnham requested Rayner as the new First Officer of the USS Discovery. It wasn't an easy fit, at first, and the gruff Rayner struggled to connect with Burnham's crew.

Commander Rayner refused to sit on the USS Discovery's Captain's chair at first, but when he did, he led Discovery to victory.

However, Commander Rayner proved exactly why he is such an effective starship captain in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 9, "Lagrange Point" and Star Trek: Discovery 's series finale , "Life, Itself". Acting Captain Rayner commanded the USS Discovery a gainst the Breen while Captain Burnham was trapped in the Progenitors' dimension, and it was Rayner's tactical prowess that saved the day. Under Rayner's leadership, the USS Discovery executed a saucer separation and spore jumped the more powerful Breen to the Galactic Barrier. Rayner's Star Trek future is an open question after Star Trek: Discovery , but the Kellerun's redemption as Acting Captain of Discovery was a highlight of Star Trek: Discovery season 5.

The rescued season of Star Trek: Prodigy has finally confirmed its Netflix release date. The next batch of episodes has been confirmed to be arriving on Netflix on July 1st, 2024.

In case you missed the news last year , Netflix acquired the rights to Star Trek: Prodigy away from Paramount+. It carried the first season from Christmas Day in 2023, with the confirmed second season skipping Paramount+ to be exclusive to Netflix.

Netflix didn’t quite acquire the global rights to the show, with many local distributors continuing to carry it. According to Unogs , 23 regions of Netflix carry Star Trek: Prodigy , including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, India, Brazil, Argentina, France, Israel, Singapore, most European regions, and select Asian territories.

Following season 1 being added to Netflix late last year, it featured in the Netflix Kids top 10s in a handful of countries , including the US, UK, and Australia, but its best-performing countries were Germany and Austria.

The wait for season 2 has been a long time coming. Last summer, we were told that the finished season wouldn’t be coming to Paramount+, but after the rescue, the release of season 2 was pushed to 2024. Season 2 kicks off with Dal, Rock Tak, Zero, Jankom Pog, and Murf continuing their training to join Starfleet Academy and are called aboard a new ship for a mission under the command of Admiral Kathryn Janeway.

The new season has 20 episodes in total, with multiple two-part episodes, including the season opener and season finale, plus two split episodes in the middle. It’s unclear whether Netflix intends to split the new season in half.

The Star Trek: Prodigy voice cast includes Kate Mulgrew, Brett Gray, Ella Purnell, Rylee Alazraqui, Angus Imrie, Jason Mantzoukas, Dee Bradley Baker, John Noble and Jimmi Simpson.

The episodes for this season are as follows:

After 65 episodes, “ Star Trek: Discovery ” boldly wrapped up its ambitious five-season run with “Life, Itself,” in which Captain Michael Burnham ( Sonequa Martin-Green) finally found the technology of the Progenitors that she and her crew had searched for, only to let it stay hidden after deeming that it too powerful to be in the hands of one civilization.

After they were first introduced in a 1993 episode of “The Next Generation,” the Progenitors were finally revealed in “Life, Itself,” though with updated attire. As Tran explains, “I think costumes from the older shows look like they’re from the time from when the show originated, so our Progenitor had to feel a bit more ethereal. It became a lot about the materials we used, which had some metallic flax in it. That made it feel kind of amorphous, and the way it was cut was meant to be modern with a little cape, which also made it feel a little angelic. But the overall goal was just to make it feel as timeless as possible.”

As for the royal 32nd Century wedding between Saru and T’Rina, Tran found inspiration from another royal wedding, this one from the 20th Century. “My main reference point was Grace Kelly’s wedding to Prince Rainier. He was wearing his traditional thing, and then she came from Hollywood wearing her traditional thing.”

When it came to T’Rina’s wedding gown, which weighed 27 pounds, Tran went much further back into “Star Trek’s” past. “We looked at Vulcan weddings from ‘Star Trek’ canon. We looked at T’Pring times two. There’s T’Pring from ‘The Original Series’ [from the 1967 episode ‘Amok Time’] and there’s T’Pring from ‘Strange New Worlds’ [from the 2023 episode ‘Charades’]. In the ’60s show, there was a metallic trim that ran down her dress, and then a similar idea that was updated for “Strange New Worlds.”

Tran further explains, “We also looked at ‘Enterprise,’ where the character T’Pol also had a Vulcan wedding [in the 2004 episode ‘Home’]. She had a veil perched on her head, but our version is much more dramatic and sculptural, and we used tent wire to make it as big as possible. Otherwise, the dress was very much inspired by Grace Kelly’s wedding dress. It’s just the 32nd Century version of that mixed with Vulcan.”

Soon after filming wrapped on the fifth season in November of 2022, Tran got a call from “Discovery” showrunner Michelle Paradise. “She said that this is going to be our final season, but we’re coming back, and we’re shooting this coda that will flash forward to the future. I’m going to send you the script pages, and then you’ll get to work. I had a little over a month to prep for that.”

About a third of Tran’s 65-person wardrobe department returned for the coda, which was filmed over just three days in the spring of 2023. A new time frame meant new Starfleet uniforms for now-Admiral Michael Burnham and her son, Captain Leto. “You can’t alter the look of the uniforms too much, and you can’t really change the color,” says Tran. “You also can’t do much with the silhouette. The shape is what it is, so it became more about putting it together in a way that felt interesting.”

Tran did just that by drawing inspiration from the look of two classic “Star Trek” eras. “We really wanted to honor ‘Discovery,’ but we also wanted to pay tribute to the ‘Star Trek’ legacy as a whole, so I looked at other uniforms. One was from ‘Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,’ those red uniforms. That was definitely the reference for Burnham, and we wanted it to be as bold as possible. We did two shades in our version. One is a darker shade, and there’s a lighter shade, just to give it some contrast, especially with the way we were sewing it.”
