1. When do I need to submit my visa application? Answer: You are advised to apply for an entry visa within 30 days prior to arrival in Singapore. It is recommended to submit an application at least one week before a trip during the non-peak season and two to four weeks before a trip during the peak season (i.e. March to May).

2. Does the validity period of visa includes the date of expiry? Answer: The visa validity period is inclusive of the date of expiry.

3. Can the validity period of visa be amended? Answer: The visa validity period cannot be amended once the visa has been issued. You may wish to approach an Authorised Visa Agent to submit a new application.

4. Do I need to apply for a new visa if the visa validity period ends before my return date? Answer: There is no need to apply for a new visa as long as your travel date to Singapore is within the visa validity period.

5. How can I extend my Visa? Answer: There is strictly no extension of visa validity or change of visa type. You can submit a fresh application upon the expiry or upon utilisation of your current visa. However, please note that each visa application is assessed on its own merits.

6. How to check visa validity? Answer: The visa validity is printed on the visa.

7. Where can I download my e-Visa? Answer: You can retrieve your e-visa via the status enquiry with the visa application reference number and travel document number.

8. What if I do not have the visa application reference number? Answer: Visa application reference number is generated on the acknowledge page when a visa is successfully submitted. You may wish to contact the Authorised Visa Agent in which you had submitted the application to for the retrieval of visa application reference number.

9. What is the validity period of a Singapore Visa? Answer: Every application for a visa, including the duration of the visa granted, will be considered on its own merits and subject to approval. Applicants who are applying for the visa online are advised to submit the application about 30 days prior to the intended arrival into Singapore so that the visa validity will be sufficient for the visit.

10. Do I need a visa if I just want to transit in Singapore? Answer: Passengers who have arrived at Singapore Changi Airport and have been issued with their onward boarding passes for connecting flights out of Changi Airport may remain within the Changi Airport transit area until time for flight departure. Passengers who are able to obtain their onward boarding passes from any of the Transfer Lounges within the transit area can also remain in the transit area. All other passengers should exit the transit area as soon as possible. We wish to further highlight that most passengers who are arriving on a Low Cost Carrier (LCC) or connecting to a LCC are required to seek immigration clearance and obtain their onward boarding passes in the respective Departure Check-in Hall. Foreigners who seek immigration clearance will have to satisfy the prevailing entry requirements, which include possessing an entry visa, where applicable. All passengers are strongly advised to liaise with the relevant airlines before embarking on their journeys. For more information on flights connection and transit facilities/services, please visit the Changi Airport Group's website.

11. How do I transfer my valid visa issued on my old travel document to the new one? Answer: You can transfer your valid visa on your old travel document to the new one which you are intending to travel to Singapore with. You may approach one of the Authorised Visa Agents for assistance. Basic supporting documents required from you are:

  • Your old and new travel document (original and copy)
  • Printout of the valid visa
  • Form 14A duly completed and signed
  • Your recent passport-sized colour photograph taken within the last three months. Please see Photo Guidelines for information on photo requirements.

12. What is the difference between Multiple and Single Journey Visa? Answer: If you have been issued with a single journey visa, it only allows you to use the visa once. If you possess a Multiple Journey Visa, there is no limit on the number of times that you can use the visa so long it is within the validity period. Please note that possessing a valid visa does not guarantee entry into Singapore. Visitors have to satisfy the basic entry requirements before they can be considered for entry into Singapore.

13. What is the difference between visa and visit pass? Answer: Visitors must note that Singapore visa is not an immigration pass. It is a pre-entry permission for the holder of a valid Singapore visa to travel to, and seek entry, into Singapore. Possessing a valid visa does not guarantee entry into Singapore. Visitors who are eligible for entry will be issued with visit passes upon arrival. These visit passes determine the number of days that visitors are allowed to stay in Singapore and it is not tied to the validity of your visa.

14. How do I appeal against my visa rejection? Answer: You are able to submit the appeal within one month from the date of the visa rejection. Applicant can submit an appeal through the Authorised Visa Agent in which the application was submitted to. Please note that the processing time for appeal is generally 14 working days depending on its complexity. Each appeal is assessed and considered on its own merits.

15. I want to know the reason for my visa rejection. Answer: ICA do not disclose the reason of rejection due to confidentiality of information. We seek your understanding on this matter.

All You Need to Know About Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) Application in Singapore

  • by SGTI_Admin

multiple journey visa ica

With the LTVP (MOM) , foreigners with work passes can bring in additional family members to stay in Singapore. Additionally, Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents (PRs) can also sponsor LTVP (ICA) for their family members.

The Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) application is specifically designed for individuals who want to stay in Singapore for a longer duration with their direct family members without the inconvenience of applying for a new visa every few months.

If you’re considering applying for an LTVP in Singapore, our article will guide you through the eligibility criteria, application process, and LTVP renewal procedure. Furthermore, we will explore the benefits of LTVP Plus (LTVP+), an enhanced version of the pass that offers even more perks. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to bring your loved ones to Singapore for a long-term visit!

Different Types of Long-Term Visit Passes in Singapore

If you’re planning a long-term stay in Singapore, you may need to apply for a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP). There are two types of LTVPs that you can apply for, each issued by a different authority:

This pass is essentially an extension of an existing Short-Term Visit Pass for family members of Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents (PRs). It is suitable for foreign visitors who wish to stay in Singapore for more than the 30 days allowed by a Short-Term Visit Pass.

This pass is intended for the family members of foreign employees who are not eligible for a Dependant’s Pass but want to live with their loved ones in Singapore.

What is LTVP+?

The Long-Term Visit Pass-Plus (LTVP+) scheme was introduced to assist Singaporean families with foreign spouses. This new scheme offers foreign spouses of Singapore citizens who qualify a longer period of residency, providing them with greater certainty of stay. The LTVP+ also offers a range of benefits, including access to healthcare and employment opportunities.

Couples with at least one Singaporean child from their marriage are eligible to apply for the LTVP+. For those without a Singapore Citizen child, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) will consider other factors, such as the duration of marriage, and generally look more favourably upon those who have been married for at least 3 years.

LTVP+ holders will be eligible for a longer period of residency in Singapore, with the LTVP+ being valid for 3 years in the first instance and for up to 5 years for each subsequent renewal. Additionally, LTVP+ holders will receive healthcare subsidies for inpatient services at restructured hospitals, which are set at a level close to that for Permanent Residents.

Furthermore, LTVP+ holders seeking work in Singapore will find it easier to do so. Prospective employers of LTVP+ holders can apply to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) for a Letter of Consent (LOC) on their behalf, instead of an Employment/S Pass or Work Permit.

A Singapore visa is an official document issued by the Singaporean Government that allows foreign nationals to enter, stay, and engage in various activities within the country’s borders.

It serves as legal authorization for individuals to visit Singapore for tourism, work, study , or business purposes , depending on the type of visa obtained.

A Singapore visa allows the holder to enter a Singaporean point of entry, where they will be checked by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers. The ICA decides whether the visitor meets the country’s entry requirements.

You have to apply for a Singapore visa at least 30 days before you arrive in Singapore.

But keep in mind that just because you have a Singapore visa does not mean you will be allowed to enter since the Singapore visa is just pre-entry permission.

If you meet the entry requirements, however, you will receive a Pass allowing you to enter Singapore and stay for the duration the Pass is issued.

For example, for a Singapore tourist visa, you will receive a Visit Pass, usually valid for a maximum of 30 days within 90 days.

Moving To Singapore

Types Of Visas In Singapore 8

Living in Singapore is something that many people dream of because life here is considered by many to be life at its best.

Singapore is an efficient and clean Asian city that retains much of the charm of its British colonial days while offering a cutting-edge, well-developed environment.

Singapore’s position on the southern tip of Malaysia has allowed it to develop into one of the most important trade and finance centers in Asia, and today, it is the fifth wealthiest country in the world according to GDP.

It also has the fourth-largest foreign exchange trading center in the world.

Singapore’s population of 5.08 million people (June 2010) primarily consists of people of Chinese (70%), Malay, and Indian backgrounds.

Singapore is a city of robust laws , which are adhered to strictly. While this has given it a reputation as an authoritarian state, the reality is that it keeps the city safe, clean, and well-ordered.

The main religions followed in Singapore are Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Christianity and Tao.

Singapore As An Expat Destination

Types Of Visas In Singapore 9

Expats from all over the world move to Singapore in large numbers yearly; there are approximately 1.31 nonpermanent residents/citizens living in Singapore (June 2010).

Singapore is widely regarded as the most accessible city in Asia for expats to fit into, and it allows foreigners an opportunity to become acquainted with different cultures in a relatively safe and modern environment.

Singapore is an excellent location to raise a family, and the availability of high-quality education, low price of home help, and strong security means that bringing up children here is often easier than it would be in your home country.

The standard of living available in this city is notoriously high , and the healthcare facilities are second to none. Singapore has a meager crime rate , and the streets are safe, even in the middle of the night.

There is no shortage of expat groups and clubs throughout the city, so no matter what your nationality, you can always be sure of finding fellow expats somewhere in the city.

One of the few disadvantages of living in Singapore as an expat and becoming a digital nomad is government-censored information that is broadcast via TV and media.

However, the reliable and inexpensive broadband services entail that expatriates can easily overcome this obstacle.

The official language of Singapore is Mandarin Chinese , which is the Singaporean Government’s language. However, English is the most common language and is the language of business and trade.

Children will generally be taught in English in schools but will also be expected to learn Mandarin . Other common languages in Singapore include Tamil, Malay, and Cantonese.

Many Singaporeans speak a language that has come to be known as Singlish . Singlish is a mixture of English and other languages and can be difficult for English speakers to understand.

English speakers seldom experience real problems communicating with people in Singapore.

Sending can take a few moments depending on the size of the attachments and your internet speed.
  • Please note that a Singapore visa grants permission to enter the country, but not to stay in the country without a break until the end of its validity!
  • Your approved e-visa will be sent to the email address you provided during your application. Double-check your email address to ensure a smooth visa delivery – a typo could cause delays.
  • Please note, that when entering Singapore the passport control officer has the right to demand proof of departure from the country ( return ticket ) and deny entry in the absence thereof.
  • In case of delays or a visa refusal due to circumstances beyond our control or inaccuracies in the application form, the fee paid is non-refundable. This fee is designated for the processing of the application itself, and it is not dependent upon the outcome of the application. Reasons for refusals are never given by the Department of Migration and Control of Singapore.
  • The ultimate decision regarding the approval, duration, and multiple entries allowed on a visa rests with the SIngapore Immigration & Checkpoint Authority (ICA). Similar to visa procedures in other countries, obtaining a visa for Singapore does not equate to an immigration pass; it serves as pre-entry authorization for the visa holder to travel to and request entry into Singapore. The decision to grant an immigration pass is at the discretion of the Immigration & Checkpoint Authority officer at the point of entry. It’s important to note that merely possessing a valid visa does not assure entry into Singapore.
  • All visitors on visit passes are not permitted to engage in any form of business, profession, occupation or paid employment while in Singapore. Visitors are also reminded that it is a punishable offence to overstay in Singapore beyond the number of days given.

Extended validity of Multiple Journey Visa will help attract more visitors to Singapore

Singapore, 15 May 2015  – The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) welcomes the announcement by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) today of visa measures ( Annex A ) that will extend the validity of Multiple Journey Visas (MJVs) issued to nationals from the People's Republic of China (PRC), up to a maximum of 10 years.

The extended validity of the MJVs will reduce the hassle of having to reapply for a visa for each trip, and make it more convenient for PRC tourists to visit Singapore. This will enhance STB's efforts to increase visitor arrivals and tourism spending, which will benefit Singapore businesses and workers in tourism-related sectors such as hotels, attractions, dining and retail.

"This move will support STB's strategy of promoting quality tourism and attracting visitors from our key source markets. It is also timely as we intensify our destination marketing efforts this year, with an exciting calendar of activities planned in conjunction with Singapore's 50th anniversary.  Besides China, STB is also reaching out to visitors from other key markets including Indonesia, India and Australia", said Mr Leong Yue Kheong, Assistant Chief Executive, International Group, STB.

In addition, STB is working with our embassy in China to expand the network of Authorised Visa Agents so that PRC visitors have more channels to apply for Singapore visas.

As part of its marketing efforts to drive travel demand from the PRC, STB's China office had launched a micro-movie by Singaporean director Royston Tan on 15 April 2015. This microfilm showcases unusual aspects of Singapore as seen through the eyes of a Chinese child on an exchange programme, and revolves around the budding friendship he has with his host, a Singaporean classmate.  Video can be viewed on  http://minisite.youku.com/STB2014/ . Details on other marketing activities including the Golden Jubilee campaign will be shared at a later date.

Singapore extends multiple-journey visas with 10-year validity to Chinese travelers

IMPACT – MEDIUM

What is the change? Beginning June 1, Singapore will extend multiple-journey visas valid for 10 years to nationals of the People’s Republic of China.

What does the change mean? Chinese nationals who have previously visited Singapore and whose visa applications are supported by relevant Singaporean agencies will automatically be granted the 10-year visas, allowing them to make repeat trips to Singapore without having to renew their visas as often.

  • Implementation time frame: June 1.
  • Visas/permits affected: Multiple-journey visas (MJVs).
  • Who is affected: Nationals of the People’s Republic of China and their dependents.
  • Impact on processing times: The longer visa validity period will eliminate the need to reapply for visas for each visit.
  • Business impact: The MJVs will facilitate business travel, especially for those making frequent trips.
  • Next steps: Eligible applicants do not need to apply separately for the visas; those who qualify will automatically be granted an MJV.

Background: Chinese nationals applying for a visa will be considered for the 10-year MJVs if they have visited Singapore in the past. The same visas will be extended to the main applicant’s spouse and children below the age of 21. The application process and government fees are unchanged. MJV holders will also have faster border processing by being able to use automated immigration clearance service at Singapore’s airports.

BAL Analysis: The longer validity will benefit frequent business travelers from China. However, they are reminded that while the MJV allows repeat entry during the validity period, it does not lengthen the permitted duration of each stay, which generally ranges from 14 to 30 days depending on the discretion of the immigration officer.

What you need to know.

The Singapore eVisa is only for tourism purposes.

Travelers must have their passports with at least 6 months of validity from the date of arrival and have at least 1 page available for stamping.

The Singapore eVisa is valid for 63 days after issued and allows the holder a maximum stay of 30 days Per Entry . However, due to highly chances of rejection, we only process applications for tourists staying no more than 15 days per entry .

Having a Singapore eVisa does not provide an automatic right of entry into the country (also known as being granted an immigration pass). The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officer at the port of entry may refuse entry to any person if they consider that a person is unable to fulfill the immigration requirements or that such person's presence in Singapore would be contrary to national interests or security.

A proof of accommodation is required to obtain the travel document. The dates in this document MUST match the travel dates selected in the application . This is a requirement that is demanded by the government in order to issue the travel document.

Please be aware that, due to frequent rejections of the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, we are not accepting applications for women under 40 years old traveling alone .

iVisa is a legitimate company, accredited and recognized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). For more information, see the FAQs below.

I'm currently traveling in Thailand, originally from Russia, and I've decided to visit Singapore next week. Is having travel insurance a mandatory requirement for the Singapore eVisa? I’m finding conflicting information online.

Martin, iVisa | July 9, 2024

Travel insurance is no longer a mandatory requirement for obtaining a Singapore eVisa if you're traveling from Russia. While it's always recommended to have travel insurance for your own safety and coverage against unexpected medical expenses, it's not compulsory for the visa itself.

Lola T, Uzbekistan | July 17, 2024

I’ve just received my eVisa for Singapore. It’s labeled as a 'Multiple Journey' visa, and I’m a bit puzzled about what this means for my travel plans. I'm looking to visit Singapore, then head to Kuala Lumpur for a few days, and return to Singapore before flying back home. Does it mean that I can enter Singapore more than once with the same visa?

Martin, iVisa | July 19, 2024

A 'Multiple Journey' visa for Singapore means that you can enter Singapore multiple times using the same visa until its expiration. This type of visa will suit your travel plans perfectly, allowing you to visit Singapore, travel to Kuala Lumpur, and then return to Singapore without needing a new visa each time. Each entry will be subject to the normal immigration process, but you do not need to reapply for another visa to re-enter Singapore during the validity of your visa.

Medina O, Kazakhstan | July 23, 2024

I’m thinking of taking a ferry from Malaysia to Harbour Bay in Singapore. I have a Kazakhstani passport and I’m not quite sure about the visa requirements for this route. Do I need to get an eVisa before I get on the ferry, or are there specific conditions for entry by sea?

Cami, iVisa | July 26, 2024

As a Kazakhstani passport holder, you are required to obtain an eVisa before boarding a ferry to Harbour Bay in Singapore. It's important to have your eVisa processed and ready before your departure, as there are no special conditions or exceptions for entry by sea compared to air or land entry.

With our iVisa experts reviewing all visa applications and accompanying documentation before submission, rejections are rare.

However, if government officials find any errors and reject your application, iVisa will refund your processing fee, and you will have the option to reapply for your Singapore e-visa.

NB: Government fees will not be refunded.

To transfer your valid visa from your old travel document or passport to the new one with which you intend to travel to Singapore, you will need to visit an Authorized Visa Agent for assistance. You will also need to have the following supporting documents:

Form 14A duly completed and signed

Your recent passport-sized color photograph taken within the last three months

The Singapore Immigration Authority is in charge of deciding and granting valid Singapore visas, and as with any visa to any other country, possessing one does not guarantee a foreign national entry into the country.

Immigration Authority officers at the Singapore checkpoints get the final say on whether you can enter or not, and each case is considered on its own merits.

Refusals by the Immigration and Checkpoint Authorities are rare, and the reasons are not disclosed. However, some causes of rejection by the Immigration & Checkpoints authority include the following:

The applicant did something wrong during their previous stay in Singapore

The applicant has abused the visa regime or overstayed the permitted time during their previous stay

The applicant has another currently valid visa to Singapore

The applicant has already been refused a visa recently

The applicant has already applied for a visa with another agency

The photograph is not sharp or bright enough

Due to increased illegal activity by female tourists entering Singapore with a tourist visa, the ICA has become much stricter with the visa approval procedure.
