ZigZag Whitsundays Tour Plan

Meet the friendly ZigZag Whitsundays crew at the northern village of Coral Sea Marina at 8am for an 8:30am departure. Enjoy a thrilling and comfortable ride through the passages of the Whitsundays to your first stop – snorkelling. ZigZag will pick a location on the day which is best suited to the weather, tidal and visibility conditions to ensure your experience the best on the day.

After your snorkelling locations, get ready to power up the 4 engines and glide your way to the famous Whitehaven Beach, the experienced and pleasant crew will guide you on your bushwalk to the South Whitehaven Lookout situated behind the beach, looking over Whitsunday Island (the largest of the island group).

En route to back to Airlie Beach, you will have time to experience one of the popular resort islands – Palm Bay Resort, Long Island. You will have the opportunity to enjoy a cold beverage, explore the resort, sit back by the pool or layback by the beach. Once visiting the resort, you will return back to Coral Sea Marina by 4pm.

“supplier” means any tour operator or other supplier of the services “you” means the guest booking and person named on this reservation booking “we”, “our” means The Whitsundays Central Reservations Centre and A.J.LAURENT PTY LTD These terms and conditions apply to all bookings made through The Whitsundays Central Reservations Centre. Placing a booking with The Whitsundays Central Reservations Centre and paying a deposit constitute acceptance of these terms and conditions.

Booking Conditions

For bookings made more than 30 days prior to travel, a 25% deposit is due to secure your booking with the balance due 30 days prior to travel. For bookings made within 30 days of travel, the full payment is due immediately to secure your booking. If we do not receive your full payment within 30 days of your travel date and you do not contact us to cancel, your deposit is forfeited and your booking may be automatically cancelled by us, the supplier or both.

Prices are quoted in Australian dollars, inclusive of GST, and all payments must be made in Australian dollars. Your reservation will only be confirmed when funds have been received and are cleared. The Whitsundays Central Reservations Centre is not responsible for delays in postal delivery, bank or payment system processing. It is your responsibility to ensure that payments are received within the times specified. If the deposit or final payment is not received by the due date, The Whitsundays Central Reservations Centre has the right cancel the booking. If your final payment is not paid by the due date and in any event within 30 days of your departure, we have the right to cancel your booking and retain the deposit in full without any reimbursement to cover our costs and those of any supplier.

Cancellations and Amendments to Bookings

If you wish to cancel or amend any booking made you need to contact us in writing. You can only cancel or amend a confirmed booking by contacting us directly. If you do not contact us to cancel prior to your booking departure date, you may forfeit your deposit and further costs.

Cancellation Charges and Amendment Fees

Any cancellation or amendment made more than 30 days before travel will incur an administration fee of 25% of the total booking fee. All cancellations or amendments made within 30 days of your travel date departure will incur both an administration fee of 25% in addition to the individual supplier’s fees. Any changes requested to your booking, including but not limited to dates, are subject to availability and if they are not available, you may be required to cancel and agree to the cancellation terms. IMPORTANT NOTE: Some services and activities may not permit any refund for certain bookings. You should check with the individual supplier or The Whitsundays Central Reservations Centre prior to paying for your booking to confirm any special non-refundable conditions.

Travel Insurance

We recommend that you take out travel insurance to cover your reservation, and valuable items (e.g. cameras). Your travel insurance policy should include coverage to protect against unforeseen and last-minute cancellations or medical conditions that may prevent travel and also to cover any medical emergencies during travel at minimum.

Supplier Tours and Services Changes

In the unlikely case of a vessel break down, maintenance or unavailability, the supplier will supply an alternate vessel of a similar standard and quality. Itineraries may be affected by elements beyond our and the supplier’s control such as wind, tide, rain, storm or other weather conditions which make travel dangerous and require a delay or cancellation. It is the skipper's requirement to ensure passenger safety at all times and may use his/her professional judgment in any manner to keep his/her guests and crew safe. In the instance of such delay or cancellation, alternative options will be provided by the supplier. In the event a cancellation or delay occurs and your tour or service is cancelled and rescheduled, you will receive a full refund if you are unable to rebook your tour or service.

You are using these services and taking any tours at your own risk. We are not responsible for any loss or damage, including direct, indirect or consequential loss you may suffer as a result of your reservation, booking or anything related to your tour or services provided by any supplier. You need to ensure you are medically sound, fit and physically able to use the services. We are not liable for the event that you are refused access to any services or tours due to your medical, physical or other reasons, including intoxication. Any such claims should be addressed to the suppliers directly. You should note that sailing can be a dangerous activity and while crews will make every effort to ensure your safety, they cannot be accountable for actions or injury to you that may be ‘beyond their control’. Every effort is make to ensure your safety and you may be required to complete a pre departure questionnaire, and sign a travel agreement waiver during the check-in process of your tour with the supplier directly. We are not affiliated with nor responsible for our suppliers in any way other than as intermediary to arrange their services on you and their behalf. If you have any issues, injury, suffer any loss or damage, you need to take it up with the supplier directly. If we are obligated to cancel your travel arrangements for any reason, the liability of will be limited to a refund of all monies paid by you.

All prices are shown in Australian dollars and are inclusive of GST. Prices are valid from 1st March 2020.

All ZigZag Whitsundays departures and itineraries are subject to weather and may be changed or cancelled a ZigZag Whitsundays discretion. ZigZag Whitsundays reserves the right to substitute vessels without notice at any time and for any reason.

ZigZag Whitsundays reserves the right to cancel any trip, or reduce trip duration, in any circumstances, including those which pose a safety risk to you, the vessel or crew, such as severe weather, including cyclones.

If ZigZag Whitsundays is cancelled by the owner prior to or on the scheduled departure date, you will be refunded within 7 days.

If your trip duration is reduced during the trip due to Unforeseen Circumstances, you may be offered a future trip on ZigZag Whitsundays, at no cost to you, depending on the amount of time by which your original trip on ZigZag Whitsundays was reduced and, subject to availability. You acknowledge that “Unforeseen Circumstances” includes but is not limited to the following; inclement weather, issues pertaining to ZigZag Whitsundays and any medical emergency, such as injury to guests or crew.

You acknowledge that if you cancel your travel on ZigZag Whitsundays less than 24 hours before the departure date, this will result in the forfeiture by you of the full trip price.

If you request a transfer of a trip departure date up to at least 24 hours before the day of scheduled departure this will incur no transfer fee. No Transfers will be accepted under this 24 hr. period.

You acknowledge that travel with, and the recreational services provided by, ZigZag Whitsundays (such as all in water activities and bushwalking) involve risk, including in particular a risk of being stung or bitten by jellyfish and other marine creatures or native fauna. You are advised to wear a stinger suit at all times you are in the water.

Whilst we make every effort to safeguard our passengers travelling on ZigZag Whitsundays, you acknowledge and agree that ZigZag Whitsundays is not liable to you for personal injury, aggravation of any existing injury or condition, mental injury, contraction of any disease, loss (direct, indirect or consequential) or death (including but not limited to from jellyfish stings) resulting from the recreational services provided by ZigZag Whitsundays , ZigZag Whitsundays hereby excludes absolutely all such liability to you.

Where the Competition and Consumer Act (CCA) consumer guarantees apply you also acknowledge and agree that the liability of ZigZag Whitsundays for any breach of those consumer guarantees is excluded to the maximum extent possible under section 64A of the Australian Consumer Law and 139A of the CCA, where you are killed, injured (physically or mentally) or contract a disease, or an existing disease is aggravated, arising from your trip on ZigZag Whitsundays.

Your agreement with ZigZag Whitsundays is subject to the laws of Queensland, Australia If any of these terms is unreasonable or unenforceable for any reason whatsoever, it shall be severed and the remaining terms will not be affected in any way.

ZigZag Whitsundays Day tour of the Whitsunday Islands offers an impressive itinerary that includes visits to 2 Beaches, 2 Lookouts, and 1 Snorkel Location. Guests can explore renowned attractions such as Whitehaven Beach, the new South Lookout, Haslewood Island Lookout, Chalkies Beach, and a stunning snorkel location surrounded by beautiful coral reefs. This comprehensive tour combines the best Whitsundays, including a Whitehaven Beach Tour and an Airlie Beach Snorkelling Tour, all in one day!

The vessel used for this tour is ZigZag, a remarkable 39-foot Naiad equipped with four engines boasting 1200 horsepower. With its cruising speed of 24 Knotts, guests can enjoy both speed and comfort during their journey. Whether young or old, everyone can fully participate in this adventure: thrill-seekers or relaxation enthusiasts.

ZigZag’s full-day tour accommodates a low number of only 30 guests to ensure their guests get the best service available in Airlie Beach. Additionally, snacks and lunch are provided throughout the excursion. Guests will also be supplied with stinger suits and snorkelling equipment onboard the boat.

Your tour with ZigZag Whitsundays day trip will depart from Abell Point Marina at 8.30am. From the marina, you will head out to the Whitsunday Islands for a snorkel at one of the sheltered bays filled with coral and tropical fish. Next, you will visit Whitehaven beach where you will be served lunch and have plenty of time to explore Australia’s number one beach.

Taking off for the next location you will head over to another snorkel location which has a beautiful beach to relax on. On the way home, you will be stopping at a secret island resort for 45-minutes where you will get the opportunity for a cold cocktail, beer or orange juice and a look around this amazing tropical resort before you head back to Abell Point Marina for a 5pm arrival.

As part of our one-day tour, you’ll have the incredible opportunity to snorkel in the coral-filled bays that line the coast of the islands. The Whitsunday Islands are part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and teaming with coral reefs and fish. You’ll get to see all kinds of sea creatures, including turtles, Maori wrasse, batfish, parrot fish, and even the famous clown fish (Nemo).

MEETING TIME/PLACE ON THE MORNING OF DEPARTURE

For the morning of departure, if you’re walking, it will take around 15 minutes to get to Abell Point Marina Roundabout, which is the North End Meeting Point under the Umbrellas (refer to the map above). You should be there by 8:00 am.

If you’re driving, there is car parking available at Abell Point Marina for $8 for the day, which you can pay with coins or card on the day using the parking machines. After parking your car, you can walk down to the Roundabout (North End Meeting Point under the Umbrellas see map above) @ 8.00am.

YOUR ITINERARY:

We do not have set itineraries at ZigZag, as our plans are dependent on weather and tidal conditions. When you board the boat, our crew will provide you with information specific to the vessel and where we may be heading that day.

Please keep in mind that ZigZag is an open vessel, so you may get wet while we’re travelling. Please be prepared for this. Additionally, large backpacks or suitcases are not allowed on the boat. If you’d like to bring a bag, make sure it’s a small day pack. There is no bag storage on the boat, so if you bring a bag, you’ll need to keep it with you or under your seat for the tour.

WHAT TO BRING:

We suggest bringing the following items in a small soft bag (if needed):

• Light Clothing / Warm clothing in cooler months (May – September)
• Sunscreen (30+ highly recommended)
• Beach Towel
• Morning Tea and lunch are included, but if you think you might get extra hungry, you can bring crisps, chocolates, etc.

WHAT NOT TO BRING:

Please do not bring glass bottles, passport, or travel documents. ZigZag is not responsible for any property you take on board the vessel. We strongly recommend using waterproof cameras (or waterproof-protected cameras) instead of expensive digital cameras, as your electrical equipment will be ruined if it comes into contact with seawater.

Welcome to the tropics! Our winters are unbeatable in terms of weather, but our summers can be hot and wet. From November to March, it can be extremely hot and humid. If you’re not accustomed to this climate, you may find it slightly uncomfortable, so please be prepared.

TRAVEL SICKNESS:

If you’re not sure whether you may suffer from travel sickness, please make sure you’re prepared. While our trained crew will do their best to make you comfortable, they’re not allowed to provide you with medication for travel sickness. You can purchase medication at the Night Owl in Airlie Beach or any pharmacy. ZigZag is a fast boat, and most people don’t suffer from seasickness while travelling with us.

SNORKELLING GEAR:

Masks and snorkels are included in the price of your trip and will be distributed on board. Wearing a Lycra stinger suit will prevent UV exposure and significantly reduce your risk of marine stingers. ZigZag requires all passengers to wear a full-length stinger suit or wetsuit if you wish to swim or snorkel from our boat. You’ll be fitted for your suit onboard the boat, and these are included in the price you paid.

LYCRA SUITS & WETSUITS:

It is important to wear a full length stinger suit or wetsuit to reduce your risk of exposure to marine stingers (jellyfish). We provide these suits for all passengers and you will be fitted for one on the boat. The cost of the suit is already included in the price you paid.

All prices are shown in Australian dollars and are inclusive of GST. Prices are valid from 1st January 2022.

All ZigZag departures and itineraries are subject to weather and may be changed or cancelled a B&N Operations discretion. ZigZag reserves the right to substitute vessels without notice at any time and for any reason.

ZigZag reserves the right to cancel any trip, or reduce trip duration, in any circumstances, including those which pose a safety risk to you, the vessel or crew, such as severe weather, including cyclones. If ZigZag is cancelled by the owner prior to or on the scheduled departure date, you will be refunded within 7 days.

If your trip duration is reduced during the trip due to Unforeseen Circumstances, you may be offered a future trip on ZigZag at no cost to you, depending on the amount of time by which your original trip on ZigZag was reduced and, subject to availability. You acknowledge that “Unforseen Circumstances” includes but is not limited to the following; inclement weather, issues pertaining to ZigZag and any medical emergency, such as injury to guests or crew. You acknowledge that if you cancel your travel on ZigZag less than 24 hours before the departure date, this will result in the forfeiture by you of the full trip price.

If you request a transfer of a trip departure date up to at least 24 hours before the day of scheduled departure this will incur no transfer fee. No Transfers will be accepted under this 24 hr. period We recommend you take out travel insurance

You acknowledge that travel with, and the recreational services provided by, ZigZag (such as all in water activities and bushwalking) involve risk, including in particular a risk of being stung or bitten by jellyfish and other marine creatures or native fauna. You are advised to wear a stinger suit at all times you are in the water. Whilst we make every effort to safeguard our passengers travelling on ZigZag , you acknowledge and agree that ZigZag is not liable to you for personal injury, aggravation of any existing injury or condition, mental injury, contraction of any disease, loss (direct, indirect or consequential) or death (including but not limited to from jellyfish stings) resulting from the recreational services provided by ZigZag , ZigZag hereby excludes absolutely all such liability to you.

Where the Competition and Consumer Act (CCA) consumer guarantees apply you also acknowledge and agree that the liability of ZigZag for any breach of those consumer guarantees is excluded to the maximum extent possible under section 64A of the Australian Consumer Law and 139A of the CCA, where you are killed, injured (physically or mentally) or contract a disease, or an existing disease is aggravated, arising from your trip onZigZag Whitsundays.

Your agreement with ZigZag Whitsundays is subject to the laws of Queensland, Australia If any of these terms is unreasonable or unenforceable for any reason whatsoever, it shall be severed and the remaining terms will not be affected in any way.

What is the cancellation policy.

Cancellation of a ticket more than 24 hours before the trip departure date is a full refund. Cancellation of a ticket less than 24 hours before the trip departure date will result in the forfeiture by you of the total trip price. The travel Date of the tour is transferable up to 24 hours before the day of scheduled departure. No Transfers will be accepted under this 24 hr period. All refund requests must be in writing to [email protected] with your ticket or voucher number.

CAN YOU TAKE CHILDREN UNDER 5 ?

No, sorry they have an age limit of 5 years old for safety reasons on the tour.

WHERE CAN I PARK MY CAR?

There is plenty of car parking at Coral Sea Marina for both cars and motorhomes, the cost is around $10 to $12 for the duration of the trip, Pay and display or use the  Easy Park App

Only up to 20 weeks, the tour is not suitable for prgnant woman over 20 weeks, we are over 1 hour from port and the owner Nicole who was working on the boat while pregeant has made this cut off time for the safty and comfort of guests.

IS THIS TOUR GOOD FOR PEOPLE WITH BACK PROBLEMS ?

No sorry if you have existing back problems a slower boat is better suited for you, we can not take guests who have known back problems.

I CANT SWIM! CAN I SNORKEL?

The short answer is maybe, it depends on your confidence! We have flotation aids called pool noodles that will help you float.

The Airlie Beach Lagoon is a free 4300 sqm swimming area (pool) loaded with 4.5 million litres of fresh self chlorinated water on the foreshore of the main road in Airlie Beach, Queensland Australia. This enormous swimming area is a favourite hangout for holidaymakers and residents on the warm, humid days experienced in the region most of the year in North Queensland

The swimming lagoon offers a place to bath without worrying about marine stingers and is perfect for family gatherings with entertainment areas, the facilities include (and they are all free!)

The large open pool area is split into 2 halves that are joined by a narrow bridge (you can swim under it) the north end is more set up for children and entertainment areas with Bbbqs and undercover seating, and the southern end of the Airlie Beach Lagoon is the larger side and normally has mostly adults and sunbakers.

Treehouse Cafe / Restaurant / Bar   has access from the swimming complex and has great coffee lunches, dinner and cocktails Wisdom Cafe is at the southern end as you walk in from the car park, great coffee, fresh lunch options and juices Hogs Breath Cafe has views over the lagoon with access on the main street, a great place for a steak and beer. The Red Plate – is a relatively new dining experience to the region and has a stunning dining deck right beside the lagoon with tree shade. One of my favourite places to eat at the Airlie Beach Lagoon

Paid car parking is available at each end of the lagoon there are two options to pay

• Pay and display either with coins or debit/credit card
• Easy Park App, available on Apple and Android stores, this app is the quickest and most convenient way to pay for parking at the lagoon. Once you have set up your account on the app, you park in the car park open the app, select your vehicle number plate and purchase your parking time, all done in 20 seconds.

Free car parking is available at the council car park on Waterson way back roundabout the entrance to this car park is located here . Once parked it is a 5-minute walk to the Airlie Beach Lagoon.
