1. moulin rouge cabaret show in paris with champagne.

⭐️ Rating: 4.7/5.0 (7659 Reviews) Price: $133.78 per person Duration: 2 hours 📍 Meeting Point : Moulin Rouge Operator: GetYourGuide Tours & Tickets GmbH Details: Read more on Get Your Guide Now!

Gitchi gitchi, ya ya da da…

Of course, experiencing the OG cabaret show deserves the top spot on your Paris bucket list.

Remember, the Moulin Rouge Cabaret Show is a performance of “Féerie”. It’s not the Broadway musical.

Created by Doris Haug and Ruggero Angeletti with choreography by Bill Goodson, Féerie unites over 100 artists on stage.

Sporting more sequins and feathers than you’d have thought possible, the Doriss Girls perform cancan dancing and acrobatics. So, this 90-minute spectacle is bold, bright, and utterly breathtaking.

Really, no other show in town can compete with this cabaret bonanza. Plus, it’s one of the coolest Paris night tours for friends and couples alike.

“It’s a ‘Must-Do’ when in Paris! The show was outstanding, the atmosphere of the theater was wonderful. Be aware that it’s crowded; get there early and be prepared to stand in line for a while. Also, the little tables are packed quite tightly together, but the audience is there for a good time-and that you will definitely have! Talented and beautiful dancers, death-defying acrobatic performers, fantastic staging and costumes… get your tickets!” Juliet ( read more reviews now )

Note, that the actual cabaret doesn’t start until around midnight. Therefore, you’ll want to grab dinner before making your way to the theater.

On that note, elegant apparel is a requirement. While feathers and rhinestones aren’t mandatory, you’re welcome to get into the spirit of things during one of the best night tours Paris has to offer.

2. Eiffel Tower’s Madame Brasserie Refined Dinner

In a food-centric country like France, you’ll find no shortage of awesome restaurants and brunch spots in Paris .

But, try as you might, you can’t top the experience of dining at the city’s number one attraction.

See, the Eiffel Tower’s Madame Brasserie Refined Dinner is located at the restaurant on the first floor of this iconic landmark.

Headed up by the Parisian chef Thierry Marx, the culinary offerings here are centered around modern, health-conscious cooking.

But, if you want extra refreshments, you’ll be billed accordingly during one of the best nighttime tours Paris has to offer.

You also have the option to upgrade to a seat in a privileged part of the restaurant or with a city view by the window.

Which, is totally worth the splurge. Because although the food is top-notch, the views are what you’re really here for.

“Dinner in the Eiffel Tower was superb! I had thought that this was going to be a bit gimmicky and possible of low quality when it came to food and drinks but it was entirely the opposite. The champagne on arrival was beautiful. The wine we had (two glasses each) was really good. The food was sumptuous and again of very good quality. We got a lovely table by the window which we hadn’t expected. Overall it was a great experience. Would highly recommend it as a great night out in Paris in an iconic building!” John ( read more reviews now )

Plus, you have the option of participating in a “Mystery Game” via smartphone while you wait for your nest course. Also remember that an elegant dress code applies here as usual.

“We had the best time on this cruise. Dinner was very good, we circled at the Eiffel Tower and stayed there for at least 10 minutes during the light show. The music was a cabaret style singer accompanying himself of an electric piano. He played and sang various upbeat pop tunes in French and English and we ended with a dance party!” Janet ( read more reviews now )

4. 3-Course Dinner Cabaret Show at Paradis Latin Theater

Burlesque dancer in vibrant attire one stage art one of the best things to do in New York City at night.

⭐️ Rating: 4.7/5.0 (496 Reviews) Price: $187.29 per person Duration: 3.5 hours 📍Meeting Point: 28 Rue du Cardinal Lemoine, 75005 Paris Operator: Paradis Latin Details: Read more on Get Your Guide Now!

We already covered the emblematic Moulin Rouge spectacle on this list of the best night tours in Paris. But, you know that’s not the only cabaret in Paris!

See, this 3-course Dinner Cabaret Show at Paradis Latin Theater is an alternative (or additional) option – depending on what you want to do during your 24 hours in Paris .

Now, the Paradis Latin Cabaret is technically a show that has been operating since the Belle Epoque era.

However, this immortal performance of the French Cancan prides itself on being more tailored toward a modern audience.

Here, poetry and dance are combined with passion and emotions rarely experienced on stage.

Now, as this booking includes dinner, you’ll want to show up with an appetite since the menu is refreshed seasonally and you have a choice of three tiers.

“We booked the prestige meal and I think this contributed to 2 excellent seats front and centre in the theatre. Surprisingly the pre-show act was excellent and the food was top notch – foie gras, monk fish curry and a set of Herme desserts. The culinary skill exhibited for providing meals to an audience of 400 at the same time was exemplary. Now, to the show. Not as lascivious at Crazy Horses but wow, a real West End style treat full of energy, colour, beauty and inventiveness. This is the best cabaret show in Paris for me. 4 hours of entertainment start to finish for the price of a good meal in a decent restaurant, so good value for money as well. We will go back. Essential experience.” James ( read more reviews now )

The Gustave Eiffel Menu is the entry-level option while the Prestige Menu is more decadent. But, both include the same amount of wine and Champagne.

Another comparison – Paradis Latin starts earlier than the Moulin Rouge. Therefore, this might be better if you have an early start the following day but still want to enjoy one of the best evening tours in Paris.

Practical tips for a perfect nightlife in Paris

places to visit in paris at night

Keep your items close to you and stay safe

Is it safe to roam in Paris at night? Generally, Paris is a safe city! But like any other big city in the world, nighttime is when most goons lose the shame and start taking advantage of the dark.

Always stay on alert when it comes to street theft or you can be pickpocketed! Try to go out with a group of friends if you plan to stay out late or take a guided tour. You can check out my favorite night tours of Paris .

And if you’re going to a crowded place, you may want to leave your expensive travel items at home and keep your phone or purse close to you. This travel neck pouch can help you keep your travel items safe!

Consider taking a Night Paris Pass

The nightlife of Paris is incredibly booming so much so that they recently introduced a night Paris pass to make exploring easier for those who want to enjoy the city of lights at night.

The pass which comes in different categories (silver, gold, platinum) caters to activities like enjoying a Seine River Cruise, watching a Cabaret show, and hopping on the double-decker hop-on hop-off bus which are all some of the best things to do in the evening in Paris

This Night Paris Pass can help you get an incredible experience of the Paris nightlife while having a front-row seat by skipping the queues.

Latest Update: Unfortunately this pass is no longer on sale!

Be mindful of the Metro working hours

Luckily for you, the Paris metro runs until late at night unlike in some places. But even with that, it doesn’t mean that it runs 24/7.

So, as you enjoy Paris in the night, make sure that you don’t forget the metro hours, especially if you plan to use public transport.

For your information, the Paris metro runs between 5:30 am to 1:15 am on weekdays, however, it extends up to 2:15 am on Fridays, Saturdays, and some other French holidays.

You can get more details of the general operating hours of public transportation in Paris at night from here .

But don’t fret if you miss the metro! You can still use Uber, Bolt, Freenow, or other taxi services.

If you’d rather stick to public transportation, then be sure to catch the night bus, the Noctilien night bus which runs from 12:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. You can get more details about its routes from here .

Try to stay sober while exploring Paris at night

We all know what happens when we choose to get intoxicated, especially beyond what our heads can handle!

That’s when you’ll remember all the lessons you had in Kungfu classes, that’s when you’ll remember the words you never want to say in front of your mum or that you enjoy screaming at the top of your voice.

I am not saying you shouldn’t have a drink or 2 to stay “happy” but getting extremely drunk and wasted should not be part of your Paris nightlife adventure.

You easily become a target and can get robbed, you miss out on the actual fun of appreciating Paris’ beauty and yes, you can become a problem when you start screaming and causing trouble!

If those are not enough reasons to stay sober while visiting Paris at night, then think of the full day you’ll waste while nursing your hangover instead of visiting other Parisian landmarks .

Stay away from some Paris neighborhoods

Taking a stroll in Paris at night is as fun and romantic as doing any other activity, but not all places are great to walk around at night.

I am not saying this to scare you or to label Paris as an unsafe place, but like any other city, there are some neighborhoods locals will warn you against visiting at night.

It’s the same for Paris! Not all neighborhoods are created equal! Some are safe, some are not and that feature comes out well at night.

Some of the neighborhoods of Paris I’d advise you to stay away from at night include; the Northern 18th and 19th districts around Marx Dormoy , Porte de la Chapelle , Port de Clignancourt , Porte de la Villette , and La Chapelle . You may also want to stay away from the Saint Blaise neighborhood in the 20th district at night.

Please don’t get me wrong, this is not to say that Paris is dangerous or unsafe! If you apply common knowledge and the tips I provided above, you’ll not get in trouble at all.

Actually, even these places are not extremely dangerous, just a bit unsafe compared to other parts of Paris.

Now that you know some practical tips to enjoy Paris in the evening, let’s look at what to do in Paris at night.

Best Things to Do in Paris at Night

In no particular order, here are the best things to do in Paris at night!

1. Visit the Louvre Museum

things to do at night paris

If you want to beat the crowds that visit the Louvre Museum during the day or better yet just to have another perspective of the museum, then you’ll be happy to know that the Louvre Museum stays open till late on some days.

The Louvre which is the most visited museum in Paris and the largest art museum in the world stays open till 9:45 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays.

On top of that, you can visit it for free between 6:00 pm to 9:45 pm every first Saturday of the month – at least some sections of the museum and it’s completely free from 6 pm on the first Friday of the month (except in July and August).

And if you visit during the popular time of the year known as La Nuit des Musées , (Museums Night in Paris) you’ll be able to visit it at night too as most museums in Paris stay open to the public till late at night.

So if you are looking for fun things to do at night in Paris, then exploring the Louvre museum is one of them.

But before you go, make sure that you book this skip-the-line ticket in advance or better yet this Louvre night guided tour to learn more about the museum. This will help you save time and skip the long lines in Paris .

Pro tip* Need to buy a number of skip-the-line tickets for Paris attractions but are not sure where to find them? Then check out my post that summarises all the popular Paris skip-the-line tickets to save you time turning the internet upside down looking for them.

2. Watch the Eiffel Tower Sparkle

what to do in paris at night

One of the must-do night activities in Paris is to watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle! There is nothing as beautiful as this moment!

Whether watching from afar or near, watching the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower never gets old.

I’ve watched it a number of times but I still get excited and goosebumps every time I watch it.

So what you need to do is to head out at night as the Iron Lady sparkles at every top of the hour for 5 minutes and if you watch it at midnight, the shimmerings last for a whopping 10 minutes which in my opinion is one of the best things to see in Paris at night.

And if you want to get a magnificent sight, watch the sparkles of the Eiffel Tower on the banks of the Seine River! The reflection of the shimmers on the water’s surface is everything. This is also one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots .

3. Climb The Eiffel Tower

Climbing the Eiffel Tower is one of the best things to do in Paris at night.

On top of watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle, make sure that you climb it too as the views it offers are spectacular.

If you plan to climb the Tower at night, note the closing hours! In the summer months, the Tower closes at 12:45 a.m. and in the winter months, it closes at 11:45 a.m.

You should, however, note that admission usually stops 1 hour before the Tower closes.

And while at it, make sure you buy this Eiffel Tower skip-the-line ticket in advance to avoid the long queues.

4. Picnic In front of the Eiffel Tower At Night

Picnicking in front of the Eiffel Tower is one of the best things to do in Paris at night.

If you’ve already climbed the Eiffel Tower and are looking for what to do in Paris at night, then picnic right in front of it.

On summer nights, you’ll find many locals picnicking at Champ de Mars (the park where the Tower is located) while toasting to the beauty of Paris.

You’ll have a front-row seat to the Eiffel Tower light show at every top of the hour, making it one of the best ways to spend your night time in Paris. All you have to do is carry a picnic blanket, some drinks, and snacks!

What’s even more magical is that at the top of the hour when the Tower starts shimmering, people start applauding which adds to the experience!

5. Take An Evening Cruise Along The Seine River

things to do at night in paris

Cruising the seine is beautiful regardless of the time of the day but it becomes even more magical at night.

The city lights are all on and the famous Parisian landmarks are all brightening in glory and since a cruise on the seine gives you a 360-degree view of most Paris landmarks, nothing can beat that view of the city lights bouncing off the seine.

And on top of enjoying the views of Paris , you get to enjoy a French dinner as you sip on wine creating a romantic feel!

All this creates an experience you’ll never forget! No wonder cruising the seine at night is high on the list of the best things to do in Paris at night.

Pro tip* For a magical night on the seine, book yourself this evening dinner cruise

6. Stroll the streets of Paris at night

paris evening

I know taking a walk at night might sound basic but not in Paris! I mean it’s Paris, everything here is magical!

A night walk in Paris will give you a stunning view of the brightened-up city landmarks giving you a different perspective of them as they shimmer in glory.

Some of the prettiest streets in Paris that are worth strolling along at night include; the Champs-Élysées   avenue for the best shopping Paris nightlife or to even just watch people shop, most streets of Montmartre are great for a night stroll; especially the street leading up to Sacré-Cœur , Rue des Rosiers in the neighborhood of Le Marais district in Paris and so many others.

So, whether you’re in Paris for a weekend or a day, get some time to stroll on the beautiful Parisian streets to get a real feel of the Paris nightlife.

7. Hop on A Panoramic Night Tour

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the 8th arrondissement attractions in Paris to visit.

One of the best ways to take in the beauty and the views of Paris at night is by hopping on this Panoramic night tour .

The bus passes most of the popular landmarks like Notre Dame Cathedral, Louvre Museum, Champs-Elysées, the Eiffel Tower, and more. They also provide a pre-recorded audio guide in various languages to give you some facts about the landmarks you’ll be seeing.

So, if you’re looking for what to do in the evening in Paris, make sure to add this night bus tour to your list.

8. Visit Musée d’Orsay

places to go in paris at night

Looking for the best places to visit in Paris at night? Then look no further than the Musée d’Orsay . The museum stays open until 9: 45 pm on Thursdays giving tourists and locals a chance to see this famous museum at night.

The museum also participates in the Museums Night in Paris theme so be sure to check it out if you visit during that time of the year.

While in the museum, you’ll be able to see some of the best impressionist and post-impressionist paintings by famous painters, plus some sculptures.

But since the Musée d’Orsay is one of the popular attractions in Paris, you can expect to find crowds, and the best way to beat them is by purchasing this skip-the-line ticket in advance .

9. Watch the beautiful sunset over the city

best nightlife in Paris

One of the other things to do in the evening in Paris is to watch a sunset! Honestly, there is no city that gives spectacular sunsets like Paris.

Imagine a sunset over the famous Eiffel Tower ! Nothing can beat that. And it’s not just the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower that makes a beautiful sunset, there are so many other places in Paris to catch a sunset from.

Some of the places to watch a sunset in Paris include the Montparnasse Tower which will give you an entire view of Paris with the sunset lingering in the sky and if you want to see the sun setting right through the Eiffel Tower, go to Pont Neuf.

Another place in Paris to catch a magical sunset is at the Seine River and if you’re in Montmartre, head up to Sacré-Cœur and the incredible views of the sunset over the city of love will not disappoint one bit.

10. Visit the Catacombs at night

nightlife of paris

The Catacombs are some of the best places to go in Paris at night! They might seem a bit weird to some people but visiting them is actually one of the fun things to do in Paris in the evening.

And if you think that not so many people go to see the thousands of skulls buried beneath Paris during the night, you’ll be surprised since it’s a very popular night activity in Paris.

So book your ticket online in advance to skip the never-ending lines and to get the most out of your night visit to the Catacombs, make sure that you join this guided tour that has knowledgeable tour guides.

Make sure you learn about them by reading my post on the fun facts about Paris Catacombs before your visit.

11. Take A Ghost Night Walking Tour Of Paris

Place de la Concorde at night

The Paris Catacombs are not the only “weird place” in Paris. While Paris displays a fancy look on the outside, there are many secrets it harbors under and this dark city secrets night tour will help uncover them.

If you’re the kind of person who enjoys thrillers and mysterious stories, then you’ll enjoy this tour.

You’ll visit various mysterious places like where public executions were conducted, places that are believed to have ghosts, and those that are cursed!

You’ll also hear various stories of the famous French people who became ghosts that haunt Paris today, and so much more.

So, if you’re looking for what to do in Paris tonight, this night ghost tour is one to consider. You can also check out my complete list of all the best night tours of Paris .

12. Watch a Carabet show at Moulin Rouge

nightlife of paris

Can you even enjoy the nightlife in Paris without watching a cabaret show at Moulin Rouge ? Certainly not!

Paris comes to life when the talented dancers and performers come to the stage in the red-light city of Mouline Rouge tucked away in the Montmartre district.

With shows running daily at 7:00 PM and another one at 11:00 PM (more affordable than the former), you have no excuse for missing this exciting show that showcases talent and fun like no other in Paris.

You can choose between this Moulin Show with champagne or this one with dinner which comes at a higher price.

I recommend booking in advance since seats book out very fast — after all this is the most famous cabaret in Paris

While I recommended Moulin Rouge, if you prefer a more sensual show that uses lights and talented dancers to bring forth an electric night, then I recommend booking a ticket to Paris Crazy Horse .

13. Watch a concert/play at Opera Garnier

things to do in paris at night

Paris is a city that appreciates arts, stage plays, music, and films which means that it never runs out of what to showcase in its beautiful Opera.

From jazz music, concerts, and ballet to Opera shows, there is something for everyone! But before you go, be sure to check what’s showing on the day you want to visit so that you watch what you really enjoy.

However, even if you’re not a fan of Opera music or concerts, the Opera house is a magnificent building that is worth admiring!

You can visit it on your own on a self-guided tour with this fast-track entry ticket to take in all the glamors of this place. Before visiting, you can read my post on the fun facts about Palais Garnier to have some background knowledge about it.

14. Stroll along the Seine River

things to do in the evening in paris

If for whatever reason you choose not to take a Seine cruise, then a stroll along its banks is one of the things to do in Paris evening. Did I mention that it’s absolutely free? Yes, it is!

You get to enjoy the cool freeze as you take in multiple views of the Eiffel Tower from all angles! And if you do it at sunset, be ready to enjoy some of the best sunsets in Paris!

As it becomes darker, the city’s lights will start marking their territory on the surface of the river creating an awe-inspiring sight that can only be found when you visit Paris at night.

15. Picnic on the Seine Banks

Picnicking on the Seine Banks is one of the cool night activities in Paris.

Picnicking on the banks of the Seine has become one of the go-to fun things to do in Paris at night by Parisians.

Instead of just strolling the banks, carry a picnic blanket, get a few drinks and snacks from any nearby supermarket, and enjoy Paris at night as the locals do.

You’ll find many groups of young locals doing the same on summer nights, some even playing music.

If you’re traveling to Paris solo , this may not be an ideal activity but if you’re a group, you definitely can’t miss a summer night picnic along the Seine.

16. Sip on a cocktail/ Wine from one of the many Paris rooftop bars

paris at night

Did I mention the happy hour!! There is no better way to unwind your day than sipping on a cocktail while taking in the views of the city from a rooftop bar.

And if you go at the happy hour (it’s usually between 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm in most bars), you get your beers or cocktails at a discounted price.

This is also a good way to mix with the locals and make some Parisian friends or just catch up with the friends you know in the city.

Some of the best rooftop bars in Paris that also offer amazing views include; Terrass” Rooftop Bar on the rooftop of Terrass” hotel in Montmartre, Laho rooftop on Rue Van Gogh, Windo Sky Bar on Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile Hotel, and so many others.

17. Go on a Latin Quarter Pub Crawl Tour

A group of people drinking in a bar

One of the best things to do in the Latin Quarter at night is to go on a pub crawl. This bustling student neighborhood is buzzing with bars making it the perfect place to jump from bar to bar.

While you can do so on your own, it’s even more fun when you join this Latin Quarter pub crawl .

On this tour, you’ll go to 3 to 4 bars in the neighborhood, have drinks while making new friends with your tour buddies, play various games, and get a free shot for every drink you buy.

Do note that this tour is only for people who are 18 and above, so make sure you don’t leave your ID card behind. And as always, make sure you drink responsibly.

18. Get Dinner at one of the many restaurants in Paris

night at paris

If you are traveling to Paris with your loved one, a dinner date is one of the most romantic things to do in Paris at night!

However, even if you’re traveling solo, you can still taste French cuisine alone or with a couple of friends and don’t forget to taste some Parisian desserts for a real treat.

And remember that in Paris, there is nothing like just popping in real quick for dinner, at least for the fancy restaurants like these rooftop Paris restaurants or these Michelin starred restaurants in Paris .

You’ll need to book way in advance to stand a chance of getting a table especially when it comes to popular restaurants.

The fancier the restaurant, the longer you’ll need to book in advance and vice versa. For example in places like Le Jules Verne — the exquisite restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower, you may need to book a table 3 months earlier or so before your trip or you can forget about having dinner with a view.

You can also check out my list of Paris restaurants with Eiffel Tower views if you want to take your dining experience in Paris to the next level.

19. Take in the incredible night views of Paris

things to do at night in paris

Paris is a beautiful city when seen from below but the higher you go, the more magical it becomes.

Climbing some of the famous monuments will give you spectacular views of the city — from spotting other famous landmarks to admiring the city as it comes together in one picture.

Some of the places to climb for the best view of Paris include; the Arc de Triomphe , Montparnasse Tower , the Eiffel Tower , Sacré-Cœur , and many others.

And if you climb those places in the evening time or even at night, you’ll be able to see the sunset setting over the famous landmarks or even see the bright lights of Paris proving that the French capital is indeed the city of lights.

20. Watch a movie in one of the many theatres

Why not take advantage of your night in Paris and catch up on what’s going on in the movie world?

You can honestly enjoy a movie in any theatre ( UGC has so many scattered all around Paris), but if you want it to be “special” or in a grand theatre, then you can check out Grand Rex in the 2nd arrondissement. It is the most iconic theatre in Paris that you ought to check out.

things to do at night in paris (

21. Become A Parisian By Watching A Comedy Show

If just watching a movie is not your favorite way to spend an evening in Paris, then this comedy show at Theatre des Nouveautes might work for you.

Unlike the usual comedy shows you might think of, this one specifically teaches you how to become a Parisian in a fun and engaging way.

You’ll learn about the cultural differences between Parisians from the rest of the world and see how to incorporate them during your time in the city if you want to blend in with the locals.

The show is incredibly funny — you’ll laugh the entire time and Olivier, the comedian is incredibly charismatic! Everything about the show will bring a piece of Paris you never knew you needed.

If you need a good laugh at the end of a tiring day, this is exactly where to go in Paris at night.

22. Go for a sights night tour by Citroën 2 CV

This Citroen 2CV Night Tour is one of the best Paris by night tours.

Ever fancied being driven around the city of love in a French vintage car? That’s exactly what this sights tour is all about!

Make it even more enjoyable by viewing all the famous Parisian attractions with champagne in hand! Paris can’t get any better than this!

This is actually one of the popular night activities in Paris so make sure that you book in advance.

Click here to book your night tour in a Citroën 2 CV !

23. Go Out Dancing in Paris at Night

night in Paris

Clubbing or going out dancing at night will forever be the most known form of enjoying a night for most people, especially on weekends!

If that’s you, Paris has lots of clubs playing all sorts of music you can dance to!

Depending on your kind of jam, some of the best nightclubs in Paris you can go to include; Nouveau Casino in the 11th arrondissement along Rue Oberkampf, La Machine du Moulin Rouge in the 18th, Palais Maillot Paris in the 17th, and so many others.

24. Meet With Locals And Other Internationals At a Bar

L'Arc Paris is one of the famous Paris nightclubs.

One of the best ways to immerse yourself in the life of the locals is to meet with them! While that may seem hard in a city as busy as Paris, the Meet Up App makes it incredibly easy.

This is perfect when you’re traveling alone and want to have a drink but don’t have anyone to go with. There are a number of nighttime activities in Paris that you can attend.

They range from just having drinks with both locals and other international people, language practice, sometimes dancing, or even playing games.

I’ve been to so many fun events in Paris at night thanks to Meet Up, but one event I keep returning to is “Apero with Internationals”. You can check it out on Meet Up or download their app, Socializus to know where and when their next event will be.

They usually have events in bars around Clichy near Montmartre, Bastille, and Saint Michel. The app is sometimes buggy but don’t let that put you off! It’s quite useful.

Actually, this is one of my favorite things to do in Paris at night, every time I want to meet new people.

25. Explore Paris at Night on a Sidecar URAL

Looking for unique ideas on what to do at night in Paris? Many tourists may not know about this activity but if you want to enjoy your nights in Paris in a rather fun and romantic way, then consider jumping on a Sidecar Ural.

This adventurous activity involves exploring Paris in the night on a vintage motorcycle sidecar while enjoying the views of lit-up landmarks.

The unique motorcycle sidecar doesn’t just pass around monuments but also comes with a knowledgeable guide to give you historical facts and information about everything you pass!

The best part is that the ride comes with a glass of champagne so you can toast to Paris night as you enjoy everything it has to offer!

You can book your vintage motorcycle sidecar tour from here to get a rare glimpse of Paris during nighttime.

Where to Go in Paris at Night

Paris Streets at Night

If you are wondering where to go in Paris at night, this guide will help you. Even if the Seine’s Right Bank has taken over where authentic Paris nightlife is concerned, there are places to enjoy Paris’ nocturnal atmosphere everywhere in the city.

When it comes to the best nightlife in Paris, there are no right or wrong answers. Whether you prefer a quiet night out in Paris, an offbeat night scene, or trendy bars & late-night clubs, a memorable evening out is guaranteed!

Here’s the list of the best places to visit in Paris at night, with something for everyone:

> LE MARAIS (Paris 4): this area is one of the locals’ favorite spots for a night out in Paris. This part of Le Marais is also (but not only) home to a thriving gay and lesbian scene, with rainbow flags everywhere.

> SAINT-GERMAIN-DES-PRÉS & THE LATIN QUARTER (Paris 5 and 6): this area is perfect for those who wish to spend a relaxed night in Paris over a couple of drinks in cozy bars. Both neighborhoods offer a lot of restaurants, pubs, and bars. These are much cheaper in the Latin Quarter, as it has been the students’ district for ages, while prices are definitely higher in Odéon or Saint-Germain trendy neighborhoods. We particularly like this area for a Saturday night in Paris.

> CHAMPS ELYSÉES (Paris 8): people looking for an exclusive night out in Paris will head to Champs Elysées . Around Paris’ most famous avenue, there are some good choices for dancing and all-night partying. Expect higher prices in this part of the city.

> BASTILLE (Paris 11): this lively and overcrowded neighborhood is dominated by 20-somethings looking for fun nights in Paris, but it is also a popular spot of nightlife in Paris for tourists. This is the kind of place with something for everyone, starting with a bit of bar-hopping down Rue de Lappe or Rue Roquette to end up dancing to any music somewhere else. We particularly like this area for a Friday night in Paris.

> MONTMARTRE & PIGALLE (Paris 18): the upper heights of Montmartre are a good place to go for an evening or night stroll in the summer. At the same time, cheeky Pigalle is Paris’ red-light district, with places like the Moulin Rouge or late-night clubs, but also with interesting places playing rock or hip-hop.

> BELLEVILLE (Paris 20): this neighborhood, still relatively untouched by tourists, has several lively streets packed with affordable bars that attract mixed crowds. Come to Belleville to experience authentic Paris night life.

> BASSIN DE LA VILLETTE & CANAL SAINT-MARTIN (Paris 19 and Paris 10): locals from East Paris crowd the city canals for waterside pétanque, drinks along their bar-terraces, or casual picnics dangling their feet over the water. The Canal Saint-Martin is dominated by the 20-somethings, while the age tends to rise at La Villette . These are two good places to go in Paris at night when the weather is warm, but they are pretty dead in wintertime. From 15 July to 15 August, the Bassin de la Villette’s atmosphere is particularly festive thanks to the activities of Paris Plages .

Paris at Night

Best Things to Do at Night in Paris

Curious to know what to do in Paris tonight? Here’s a list of fun things to do in Paris at night, a mix of locals’ favorite spots and nightlife in Paris for tourists:

GOOD TO KNOW: your after-dark Paris adventures can start earlier in winter (around 5:00 p.m. during the shortest days!). Check out the sunset times in Paris .

1. Head to Montmartre for Sunset

Stairs of Montmartre - Paris

If you are looking for a sunset spot for your first evening in Paris, head to Montmartre to admire the fabulous views of Paris from its heights.

The plaza in front of the Sacré-Coeur  is one of the most famous spots to see a sunset in Paris, offering a stunning view of the city. However, it can be challenging to truly enjoy it because of the crowds.

We recommend taking a few steps away from the masses in front of Sacré-Coeur, to the southwest. We like Rue Norvins, angle Rue Jean-Baptiste Clément , a good spot to catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower (non-visible from the Sacré-Coeur). The typical Parisian buildings and lampposts add to this vantage point’s allure.

2. Start your Night out in Paris with an Apéritif

French Apéritif with Eiffel Tower Views

It wouldn’t be a night in Paris without starting things off with an apéritif. An apéritif in France  is typically recognized as a pre-dinner drink, a moment to relax over a couple of drinks and a few snacks. The French apéritif is a moment of sharing – with family or friends – and preparing your palate for the meal to follow.

An apéritif is an ideal way to round up your day and ease into the evening. Of course, you can drink French wine , but there is also champagne and other famous French drinks perfect for an apéritif.

3. An Eerie Concert at Sainte Chapelle

Sainte Chapelle at Night

Located on the Île de la Cité , in the heart of Medieval Paris , the Sainte-Chapelle is a gem of Gothic architecture, world-famous for its stained glass windows.

After the day crowds, the Sainte Chapelle hosts over 100 night performances each year. The concerts feature favorite works of the classical music repertoire, performed by excellent soloists and ensembles.

A classical concert at La Sainte Chapelle is simply unforgettable! We recommend arriving 45 minutes before the performance begins so you have time to visit this unique landmark in Paris and admire the stained glass windows. Check out Sainte Chapelle’s website for the full program.

4. Explore Paris at Night on Two Wheels

Paris by Bike

Bike tours in Paris are a great way to discover the city’s highlights. Stop at important or curious sites and enjoy your guide’s commentary on Parisian history and city life. Explore Paris at night while riding an electric bike on this top-rated guided tour . Hear historical anecdotes about Paris and let your guide take your picture at sights like the Louvre Palace and the Eiffel Tower.

If you prefer to do things independently, our quick guide to Paris by bike offers a couple of self-guided bike itineraries.

Another fun night tour in Paris, also on two wheels, is this 1.5-hour Segway Night Tour which starts from the center of Paris and goes past the classic points of interest. This Paris night tour will show you what makes Paris the true city of lights!

5. See the Louvre at Night

Louvre Museum At Night

One of the best places to visit in Paris at night (or at least to pass by) is the Louvre Palace , lit up by the glowing Glass Pyramid , which dominates the Cour Napoléon.

If you spend a Friday night in Paris, you can visit the Louvre Museum until 9:45 p.m., without crowds. Inside the Louvre , the sculptures look incredibly beautiful when they are lit by the moon.

TIP: Read how to get the most out of the Louvre Museum in 2 hours or less

6. Spot the Illuminated Eiffel Tower

Shangri-La Paris Terrace

With nearly 7 million visitors in 2018, the Eiffel Tower is the symbol of France and one of the world’s most popular attractions. Thanks to its monumental size, it is possible to see the Eiffel Tower from almost every corner of the city, usually outstanding among Paris’ quintessential rooftops.

The Eiffel Tower is especially beautiful when it lights up. It is just so romantic to see the sparkling Eiffel Tower, not to mention it is more photogenic! Click here for the best views of the Eiffel Tower , day and night.

There are many ways to enjoy the Eiffel Tower at night, from a picnic in Champs de Mars in summer to a night river cruise on the Seine River . The Eiffel Tower lights up hourly from dusk until 11:45 p.m. The illumination lasts around 5 minutes each time; do not miss it!

The good news is that some of the best hotels in Paris also come with the best views of the Eiffel Tower. So if you are traveling to Paris for a few days and you can afford it, why not treat yourself to a hotel with Eiffel Tower views ?

7. Learn about French Wines with an Expert Sommelier

Wine Tasting in Paris

Book a wine tasting by an expert sommelier to learn more about French wines. Visit virtually the main wine regions of France and learn how to taste and identify wine on a fun and informative wine-tasting experience.

The wine-tasting workshops by Ô Château are the most popular and always get the best ratings.

For a unique experience, book a wine tasting at Les Caves Du Louvre . Located near the Louvre Palace, these were King Louis XV’s wine cellars!

8. Experience the Best of Parisian Cuisine

Paris Bistro

What better way to start an evening in Paris than tasting some of the best food in the world? With over 100 Michelin-starred restaurants , Paris is the right destination for food lovers. If you prefer something more casual, the Parisian bistros will get you covered.

Check out our Paris food guide to learn about what to eat in Paris , the most popular desserts in Paris , and more. If you are planning a romantic soirée with your partner, here are our favorite romantic restaurants in Paris .

9. Take a Paris Night Cruise along the Seine River

Seine River at Night

If you spend only one night in Paris, head to “Paris’ most beautiful avenue” for an evening cruise along the Seine River . Depending on the season, the banks of the Seine River are more or less lively, but it is always a beautiful experience.

During this Paris night cruise, you can see some of the main Paris landmarks , such as Notre Dame or  Les Invalides , this time beautifully illuminated. It is difficult not to be in love with Paris after a view like that!

The evening Seine river cruises come with or without dinner. Dinner river cruises are a great way to spend a relaxed soirée. We particularly like this Seine River Panoramic Cruise , with bistro-type meals, because the seats are positioned facing the river in a way to enjoy both the Seine River and your company (see the pictures on the link).

10. Music, CanCan Dance & Bubbles in a Parisian Cabaret

Moulin Rouge - Paris

Looking for cheeky, fun things to do in Paris at night? Then head to one of the Parisian Cabarets , one of the top attractions of nightlife in Paris for tourists. Cabaret shows usually include the crazy French cancan (our favorite part) and also singing, dancing, and juggling.

The Moulin Rouge is the most iconic cabaret in Paris, but there are many more! Most of the cabarets also come with the dinner option or a glass of champagne, so you are set for the whole night. From the Moulin Rouge to the Crazy Horse on the Right Bank, or the Paradis Latin on the Left Bank, there’s something for everyone.

TIP: don’t miss this exclusive offer by Get Your Guide Crazy Horse show + pre-dinner show at (the classy and refined) Ginger restaurant (South Asian food) for a top soirée in Paris!

11. A Night at the Opera (Garnier)

paris tour noche

A night at the Opéra Garnier , with the right program, is a great way to start a night out in Paris. We suggest arriving well in advance to admire its architecture and rich decoration before the show.

Feeling thirsty during the interlude? Then head to the Grand Foyer , grab a glass of champagne, and admire this stunning gallery. It has a design inspired by the Hall of Mirrors of Versailles Palace !

Opéra Garnier is mostly dedicated to ballet shows, while Opéra Bastille is the place to go for opera performances. If opera or ballet is not your thing, but you don’t want to miss one of the most beautiful attractions in Paris, then take the self-guided Opera Garnier tour (until 5:00 p.m.). Learn about Palais Garnier’s history and its most famous guest, the Phantom of the Opera, and visit his reserved balcony#5 (option available only on some tours).

12. Take a Paris Night Tour

Things to do in Paris at Night

Drive through the city’s illuminated streets and avenues in style on a classic Vintage Citroën 2CV and get the most out of Paris by night. Millennials may prefer Berlin and New York for their high-energy clubbing scenes. And, London might be best for its pubs and world-class theatre. Still, Paris trumps them all for its diversity of after-dark offerings. Travelers tend to associate Parisian nights out either with traditional cancan dancing, or chic clubs populated by intimidating fashionistas, but the truth is plenty of experiences fall entirely outside of those familiar clichés. This French capital offers a variety of nighttime pursuits, like a Seine river cruise or a night out at the opera, while also catering to all ages and interests. Whether you're angling for a sip of French wine amid the softly lit streets, or are hopping in a vintage car for a tour around the city, there's something for everyone to enjoy in Paris at night.

Watch the Eiffel Tower Light Show

Santiago Urquijo / Getty Images

The Eiffel Tower comes alive at night with a spectacular light show . Every evening from sunset to 1 a.m. (2 a.m. in the summertime) the "Iron Lady" performs a 5-minute show with her twinkling lights, every hour on the hour. The tower also has a beacon (marine light) that shines from the top and reflects out across the city. During special occasions, firework shows and colored lights can be seen on and around the tower. For the best viewing, head to the Trocadero, take a boat cruise on the Seine, or climb the Montparnasse Tower.

Take a Moonlit Stroll of Paris Landmarks

As the film Midnight in Paris suggests, there's something indisputably otherworldly about strolling Parisian streets la nuit tombée (at nightfall). The banks of the Seine provide an ideal walking venue during the warmer months, in particular the areas surrounding Pont Neuf, the Pont des Arts, and the Ile de la Cité. Along the riverbank, you can take in views of the Notre-Dame cathedral . Illuminated at night, Notre Dame's dramatic facades and spires will likely leave you gobsmacked. Other favorite late-night strolls include the Le Marais district, where you can wander the narrow, medieval-era streets and passageways, before ducking into a bar or restaurant for dinner and drinks. Also visit the Rue Montorgueil district , perfect for a stroll on the nearby Grands Boulevards before or after a show.

Go Tango Dancing on the River

Christopher Robbins / Getty Images

Every Friday evening in summer, starting at 7 p.m., groups of tango enthusiasts gather at mini amphitheaters on the river and dance until dusk. Cue the Argentinian music, and the banks of the river come alive with lively dancers exchanging partners. Experienced dancers can join right in, while novice dancers can take free tango lessons at Square Tino Rossi, Quai St. Bernard, and in the 5th Arrondissement. If you prefer to take in the sights instead, grab a seat on the stairs and pop open a bottle of wine. The energy is palpable, and you will be just as mesmerized watching the show as you would be if you were participating.

Go on a Vintage Car Night Tour

Kate Vredevoogd / EyeEm / Getty Images

Riding through the streets of Paris in a vintage Citroen car is a car enthusiast's dream. Climb inside, while your driver takes you on a vintage car night tour of Paris' famous monuments, like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the Arc de Triomphe. You can also take an abbreviated one-hour tour, and sneak it in at dusk, or book a Secret Paris Tour, where you spend two hours on backstreets discovering off-the-beaten-path locations. This experience pairs well with a pre-ride dinner, after which, you can sit back and relax and let your driver show you the sights.

Sip an Apéro at a Wine Bar

Owen Franken / Getty Images

A before-dinner aperitif, (or apéro) is a traditional French ritual , particularly when it's paired with homemade charcuterie and antipasti to prime the palate. Many Parisian wine bars offer this type of dining experience, along with a laid-back antidote. Stake out a table early on in the evening — most bars don't allow reservations — and settle in with a good bottle of wine paired with cheese and other nibbles. Wine bars, like Le Verre Volé  (The Stolen Glass) and Frenchie Bar à Vins , offer a relaxed vibe alongside gourmet small plates. Here, you can sample a dish of perfectly arranged vegetables, delicate cuts of meat or fish, and then, round it out with dessert and sweet wine. Who needs a full dinner someplace else after that?

Descend Into the Catacombs of Paris

Michael Lehigh / EyeEm / Getty Images

A trip to the Catacombs of Paris gives you an eerie peek into the region's past. During the French Revolution, piles of bones were deposited into stone quarries due to the overpopulation of the city's cemetery, the Cemetery of the Innocents. Throughout a period of 15 months, nighttime processions led by priests moved the remains underground, creating 300 kilometers of below-the-earth tunnels on which Paris now sits. Guided tours lend access to 2 kilometers of these tunnels, an underground ossuary, the Quarriers’ Footbath, the Sacellum Crypt, the Sepulchral Lamp, and the Tomb of Gilbert. Along the way, you'll hear the tales of life and death from a museum lecturer, while discovering the geological history of Paris.

Take a Seine River Cruise

Yvan Travert / Creative RM / Getty Images

A night cruise on the Seine River is romantic, picturesque, and one of the best ways to take in the city's most iconic monuments after dusk. From dry land, you don't get the same vantage point from which to view Paris in all of its nocturnal glory. Sights especially worth seeing at night include the Louvre, the Pont des Arts, the Assemblée Nationale, Notre Dame, and the Eiffel Tower, all bathed in carefully curated light. The shimmering play of that light on the water is enough to seduce even the most cynical visitors. And, as long as you have a camera with a good low-light setting, the evening photo ops are unbeatable. Opt for a dinner cruise package for the full experience. Some are more formal than others, so shop around to find the one that best suits both the occasion and your budget.

Attend a Moulin Rouge Cabaret Performance

TripSavvy / Ivey Redding

Nothing beats the kitschy fun of a traditional Parisian cabaret , especially one held at the famed Moulin Rouge. The experience typically consists of watching a Can-Can performance while enjoying dinner and a glass, or two, of champagne. However, you can also buy tickets for just the performance for a less lavish night out. Or spring for a VIP package which includes the best seating, a show program, priority access, complimentary macarons, and free use of the cloakroom. All ages are welcome, yet, due to nudity in the program, it may be best to leave the kids at home. And, the theater's dress code calls for smart casualwear—that means no flip-flops and sneakers. Parking is sparse, making public transportation, or walking, the best option for getting there.

Eat a Parisian Dinner

Few places in the world offer a more exciting gastronomical experience than Paris. Still, finding a good restaurant in this capital isn't as effortless as you may assume. If you gamble on dinner at the corner place near your hotel, you may stumble on Michelin-level gold. However, you may also end up wishing you ordered a crepe from that stand across the street (and saved about 100 Euros). Those on a tight budget can find the most delicious street food at places like Le Camion Qui Fume . Plus, sitting outside during the summer with a good falafel or crepe is ideal. Traditional sit-down French fare doesn't have to be pricey, either. Classic Parisian haunts, like Chartier and Polidor , serve affordable (by Parisian standards) takes on local favorites.

Pop Into a Stylish Speakeasy

The Castor Club

After dinner, a craft cocktail is usually in order; perhaps, in the form of a trendy bitter, a botanically-infused artisanal gin, or an artfully fruity concoction. You can find whatever you're craving at one of Paris' stylish haunts steeped with history. Try Harry's New York Bar , a favorite of literary luminaries that has a burgeoning "mixology" scene. Places like the Experimental Cocktail Club and Candelaria serve pricey drinks made with top-shelf booze. Other speakeasy-style bars, like Moonshiner, which is hidden behind a pizzeria, have become immensely popular. While many of these are, admittedly, no longer secret, they offer sophisticated and intriguing settings for a night out on the town — not to mention some of the most expertly shaken cocktails and creative drinks available.

Attend a Night at the Opera

Bertrand Rindoff Petroff / Getty Images

For opera fans, the vibrant scene in Paris means there's almost always a worthwhile opera performance to see. The modern Opera Bastille offers programs that include both classic performances and more contemporary, experimental shows. The Palais Garnier, one of the most famous opera houses in the world, was built in the 1800s, over a period of 15 years, and boasts an Italian-style, horseshoe-shaped auditorium, a marble staircase, gilded statues, and an ornate foyer. Arrive at least 30 minutes ahead of time to wander around the building. All of the performances here are offered in their original language (mostly Italian), so it's rare to see a show in English. Yet, most of the time, subtitles are provided.

Take a Dip in an Art-Deco Pool

If you're hankering for a pre-dinner dip, then consider packing your swimsuit and bathing cap and going for a swim at the Piscine Pontoise , a lavish art-deco style indoor pool in the historic Latin Quarter . The pool is heated and sheltered from the elements and open year-round. Enjoy the shimmering lights on the water, and admire the stately architectural details that have made this pool a popular place to escape the heat and the city's bustle. This picturesque way to sneak in some exercise will help you justify the champagne, duck pate, and creme brûlée you'll be having at dinner.

Drink Craft Beer

La Fine Mousse

While wine and cocktails have long been a staple of Parisian nights out, the advent of the craft brewery and brewpub is a more recent trend in Paris. Authentic brasseries and cafes around the city have long offered familiar French and European beers on tap—from Amstel to Hoegaarden. But now, you can seek out microbreweries and craft beer pubs all around the city. Many locations are concentrated in northeastern Paris, home to a younger and hipper after-dark crowd. La Fine Mousse is one of the most popular spots, with 20 different beers on draft. And, O'Clock Brewing makes a hop-forward IPA that rivals any beer that hails from the microbrew capital of the world—the United States' Pacific Northwest.

Enjoy a Free Show at the Fete de la Musique

David Wolff—Patrick / Redferns / Getty Images

Every year on June 21, Fete de la Musique turns the streets of Paris over to hundreds of live performers. The best part is—it's entirely free. See an amateur jazz or blues group perform outside a local bar, or watch a world-renowned musical act at a large venue. The Fete de la Musique lends a fantastic opportunity to ring in the summer solstice, as you wander from concert to concert, taking in a variety of genres on the longest day of the year. You can also choose—a la carte-style—from the vast list of free evening performances .

Attend a World-Class Dance Performance

Taylor McIntyre

Paris is one of the best places to enjoy world-class ballet and modern dance performances. The Paris Opera Ballet is the oldest national ballet and boasts some of the finest dancers you'll likely ever get the chance to see. This group performs regularly at the aforementioned Palais Opera Garnier . More contemporary dance troupes offer modern hip-hop performances, or traditional Flamenco dancing, at venues like the Théâtre National de Chaillot . This venue also offers incredible views of the Jardins du Trocadero Gardens and its waterfalls, as well as the  Eiffel Tower , and is surrounded by great restaurants, should you want to get dinner or a snack prior to the show.
