I've used Sunnyland for several trips and every trip was wonderful. I was always met after getting my baggage, tour guides were super great, all of the individual tours in the countries were organized, fun and safe. I received all of the documents that I needed with a pocket organizer, including luggage tags identifying the tour company. Having used a few different tour companies, I found Sunnyland far exceeds all others previously used.

Travel across Scotland by train, with historic cities, ruined castles, deep blue lochs, mountain peaks and wild moorland along the way. This land and railway journey takes you from the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow and heads north to the coast and into the Scottish Highlands – and includes some of the UK’s most spectacular rail routes.

From its historic castles to its stunning landscapes, to its exciting cities and charming, small towns, Scotland has it all. Along the way, we’ll visit some of its historic castles; witness its unspoiled, breathtaking scenery, experience its cities and some of its small towns, and learn about its fascinating history. Throughout this tour, we’ll experience Scotland at its best—the breathtakingly wild and unspoiled scenery, miles of yellow-sand beaches on the northern coast, and waterfalls and jagged, dark peaks These are only matched by the inspiring hills, green woodlands, and spectacular beaches on the “Road to the Isles.”

Days 1 - Albuquerque to Edinburgh

We depart from Albuquerque on our overnight flight to Edinburgh, Scotland.

Day 2 - Edinburgh City Tour

We arrive in Edinburgh, Scotland, where we stay for 2 nights. Upon arrival, we enjoy a City Tour, including visiting Edinburgh Castle, with a long history as a royal residence, military garrison, prison and fortress. This evening, enjoy a group Welcome Dinner tonight hosted by your Tour Director.

Day 3 - Old & New Town

Morning city sightseeing with a local guide introduces us to the 200-year-old “New Town” and the famous scientists, inventors, and novelists who lived there. In the “Old Town,” we drive up the narrow Royal Mile. We visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse and Royal Yacht Brittania.

Day 4 - Forth Railway Bridge Train & Stepps

Today we depart Edinburgh for touring north in the countryside and a highlight is our train ride across Forth Railway Bridge, which had the world’s longest spans (541 m) when it opened in 1890. We then drive to Stirling Castle, one of the largest and most historically and architecturally important castles in Scotland, for a tour. We check in for a 3 night stay in Stepps.

Overnight in Standard Room at Best Western Garfield House Hotel or similar.

Day 5 - The Trossachs National Park

Our motorcoach takes us through the countryside to the River Clyde, where we follow the route to Lake Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, a vast expanse of mountains, water and countryside. Sit back and relax on a cruise of the Queen of Scottish Lochs.

Day 6 - Southern Scottish Countryside Tour

We tour the Southern Scottish countryside and visit the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, and Culzean Castle, Robert Adam’s cliff-top, romantic masterpiece.

Day 7 - West Highland Line Train to Fort William

After a scenic drive we make our way to Glasgow, where we board the West Highland Line for a four hour train journey to Fort William. This is often described as one of the most scenic rail journeys in the world. 3 nights stay with dinner in Ballachulish.

Overnight in Standard Room at Ballachulish Hotel or similar.

Day 8 - Glenfinnan

Visit to the Glenfinnan Monument, where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard and began the Jacobite uprising, and see the Glenfinnan Viaduct from the ground which is spectacular! We return from our day of touring with impressive views along our train journey.

Day 9 - Loch Ness & Glen Coe

Today we enjoy a cruise on famous Loch Ness, from Fort Augustus, before visiting a to visit Glencoe. The deep valley and towering mountains of Glen Coe were formed over millenniums of shifting glaciers and volcanic eruptions.

Day 10 - Glengoyne Distillery

On our final full day of touring we visit the Glengoyne Distillery for a tour and tasting, heading back to Edinburgh, where we enjoy a hearty Farewell Dinner with wine and a Scottish show.

Day 11 - Return Home

Today we depart from Edinburgh, taking indelible memories of our scenic land and rail journey with us!

Level 4: Active

Expectations: The tour includes well-paced walking tours with regular breaks. Up to 2-3 hours of walking each day. To fully take advantage of all this tour has to offer, guests need to be able to walk longer distances, climb several flights of stairs and navigate steps and uneven terrain walking for extended periods of time over more difficult terrain (e.g. cobblestones, city hills, stairs without handrails, limited or no access to elevators). Your itinerary can include significant changes in temperature and altitude and may require a higher number of longer travel days with morning and/or evening activities. Most trips will feature long touring days, many full-day excursions and a full and active itinerary with a faster pace and longer distances. Excursions require standing and walking to city centers where coaches are prohibited.

Appropriate for: Travelers who are physically fit, expect a vigorous pace and enjoy participating in two to three hours of physical activity per day.

For your reference, we send to you a detailed itinerary approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the scheduled tour departure. This has day-by-day times and events, hotel information where you can be reached in case of an emergency, and airline information.

The times listed on the itinerary are all approximate. We cannot be held responsible for schedule changes due to unforeseen circumstances with the weather, transportation agents, highway conditions, hotels or contracting agents.

AIRLINE TICKETS

You will be issued your boarding pass the morning of our departure, after your arrival at the Albuquerque International Sunport. If you have an American Airlines frequent flyer number, or a TSA number, please call our office at least 3 days prior to the tour to ensure we can note these in your reservation.

If you are joining the tour from locations other than Albuquerque, we make other arrangements for you to join the tour. Please call our office for more details.

AIRPORT SECURITY

Do not forget to bring your government issued picture ID to show at the airport. A Driver’s License or Passport is preferred. If you do not have the proper ID, the airline will turn you away.

We have arranged for handling for one piece of luggage per person regarding the skycaps (where available) and hotels. If you check through luggage note that the maximum weight for the checked piece of luggage is 50 pounds and maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height). If your bag weighs over 50 pounds the airlines will levy an extra fee that you will be responsible to pay. If you feel the need to lock your checked through luggage and your bag is searched, your lock could be damaged in the process. You can purchase a TSA (Transportation Security Administration) accepted and recognized lock at any luggage store. Make sure you ask for a TSA approved lock. These locks are the kind that TSA screeners can open by using a special tool without breaking. Passengers can carry-on 1 bag (dimensions are limited to 10x16x24 inches), plus a personal type bag, like a purse. We advise that you pack your carry-on lightly. There are restrictions regarding your carryon baggage and contents due to enhanced security measures. If you have further concerns, please visit the TSA's Web-site at www.tsa.gov. There is room inside the motorcoach for your hand carried bag.

CHECKED BAGGAGE FEES

On our airline for this tour, passengers are assessed a fee per checked in bag, by the Airlines, upon checking in for the flight.

EMERGENCY CONTACT

It is always a good idea to carry on your person a list of medications that you are taking and an emergency contact phone number while you are traveling. And we suggest making a copy of the itinerary and provide it to a friend or family member.

GRATUITIES/ITEMS INCLUDED IN PRICE

All hotel baggage handling fees are included. We also include basic gratuities for the Tour Director, Coach Driver, and local Tour Guides. If someone has truly gone above and beyond additional tipping is permitted, but never required.

LODGING REQUESTS

If you would like to request special accommodations at the hotel(s) where we are lodging, please call us as soon as possible and we will forward these requests for you. The phone numbers of the hotel(s) where we are staying are listed on the itinerary.

Many hotels around the country have instituted a "reconditioning fee" of $300 or more that is levied upon a guest that smokes in a non-smoking room. If this occurs during our tour you will be responsible for paying this fee to the hotel prior to check-out.

WEATHER AND CLOTHING/MISC. SUGGESTIONS

Afternoon temperatures are usually around 60-67°F. Most days have a fine, clear sky. It gets mild at night with minimum temperatures around 50°F. We advise you bring a jacket and hat just in case of inclement weather and to wear layers for best insulation. Shoes should be comfortable and sturdy for walking in small towns. There are no dress codes to places we visit on this tour.

Dental Davis celebrates grand opening in Far East El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Davis Dental celebrated the grand opening of its very first location in El Paso today.

The clinic is founded by Dr. Yvette Davis, who says she is from El Paso and has been practicing dentistry for 17 years.

Community members who attended today's event were treated with refreshments, an office tour, a chance to meet with Dr. Davis, and special promotions.

Davis Dental is welcoming patients of all ages.

News | LGBTQ Pride Month reaches across LA County with flag-raisings, parades, festivals

Both weho and hollywood will host major pride marches, while newcomers like west covina join list of celebrations.

From the South Bay to the San Gabriel and San Fernando valleys to, of course, West Hollywood and Hollywood proper, the queer community is putting on parades, flag-raisings, street fairs, arts festivals and marches. These are often seen as twofold: Part freedom of expression, part celebration of their differences with all-comers — both queer and straight.

There appear to be more events, though the numbers are not officially counted. Some reasons for an increase could be a backlash against the 515 anti-LGBTQ bills in the United States being tracked by the ACLU as of May 28. That comes on the heels of recent rules and laws stifling drag queen shows and restricting rights for transgender people — mostly happening outside of California.

“What is so enriching this year are the many events, from Venice, WeHo, city of San Fernando, the San Fernando Valley and others who all have their own Pride events,” said Third District Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, chair of the board, whose district includes the San Fernando Valley and the westside of Los Angeles.

“To see a collective of Pride events across L.A. County is remarkable,” she added during an interview on May 29. “We have to make sure we recognize people in all corners of the county. This is not just for the LGBTQ community but it is also welcoming to all of us.”

The county is raising the LGBTQ+ Progress flag on Tuesday, June 4 at the Hall of Administration for the second year. Horvath said the county is trying to put up rainbow flags at all county buildings, from firehouses to county library branches. to parks and administrative offices.

On Monday, the county will raise a Pride Flag at the Los Angeles County Office of Education in Downey, weeks after the Downey City Council voted to stop flying the flag on city property. “Despite the recent vote by the Downey City Council, I want our LGBTQ+ Downey residents to know they belong and that they are not only accepted but celebrated,” said Fourth District Supervisor Janice Hahn.

June Pride Month celebrates gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and nonbinary residents who are estimated to number about 500,000 in Los Angeles County.

Flag-raising ceremonies are set for San Fernando City Hall on June 1; Pasadena City Hall on June 3 and the Redondo Beach Civic Center on June 4. Venice celebrated on May 31. Long Beach’s 41st annual Pride parade took place on May 19.

The West Hollywood Pride Parade runs on Santa Monica Boulevard on Sunday, June 2. Altadena Pride on June 8 will include a short “walkabout,” a “spiritual exploration” from LGBTQ+ affirming faith institutions, and a rainbow-colored crosswalk leading to the unincorporated community’s senior center and library complex, the site of afternoon speakers, resource tables and live music.

West Covina will launch its first-ever Pride event on Friday, June 7 with resource tables and performances by LGBTQ+ artists in the parking lot between Best Buy and Macy’s. The event is part of the SGV Pride Tour 2024 from the SGV-LGBTQ Center in El Monte.

But the queen of all Pride Month events is the 54th annual Los Angeles Pride Parade happening on Sunday, June 9, starting at 11 a.m. This year’s parade will be the biggest in its history, with 165 entries marching to the theme “Power in Pride.”

The organizers predict 130,000 to 140,000 people watching as well as attending the after-parade “block party” on Hollywood Boulevard that goes from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Chanel 7 (ABC-TV) will broadcast the parade live.

The parade route runs north on Highland Boulevard, then heads east on Hollywood Boulevard and south on Cahuenga Boulevard. The trio of grand marshals are “Star Trek” actor and L.A. activist George Takei; professional wrestler Cassandro El Exótico; and Los Angeles County Fire Chief Kristen Crowley, the first woman and first out person to ever hold that position.

At the step-off, you’ll find parade producer and director, Mariela Spillari with a megaphone, ushering each float and group onto the route. Spillari, who calls herself a passionate ally, has worked previous Pride parades and also chalked up experience with the Rose Parade in Pasadena and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

The bigger number of entries comes from the community rallying support for LGBTQ+ rights, she said. But it also comes from knowing about the bills and groups that have tried to limit drag queen events, school curricula and trans rights, she said.

“This parade originated out of protest. That is what it is in spirit — a First Amendment parade,” she said on May 30. It will include an ACLU float with the message “Fight For Trans Futures,” as well as marchers from the GALAS LGBTQ+ Armenian Society. Also participating, the Rainbow Book Bus supports keeping LGBTQ+ titles in libraries, not taking them off the shelves, Spillari said.

A year ago, conservative and Armenian-American parents protested against an LGBTQ+ assembly outside Saticoy Elementary School in North Hollywood in which students were read a book that talked about different kinds of families, including same-sex parents. Weeks later, protesters opposed to teaching children about sexual identities in school clashed with gay, lesbian and trans advocates outside the Glendale Unified School District building.

And after the Los Angeles Dodgers honored the self-described “queer and trans nuns” group, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, at a LGBTQ game night last June, the Los Angeles Archdiocese called the group a sacrilege and objected to what they described as mocking the Catholic faith .

Aside from parade marchers carrying signs, displaying gay rights’ slogans on T-shirts and often wearing colorful outfits, there are other less pointed displays at the LA Pride Parade and festival, including a demonstration pickleball game. “There is a nice balance of celebrating, being happy and joyful, while continuing to keep the meaning behind it,” she added.

Spillari’s Prima Agency is a majority-female production team that she reminds to always be kind to visitors because participants and parade-watchers may have been the objects of scorn in the past.

She tells a story from two years ago when she received a call from a trans person in her 60s who was transitioning. The woman asked about parade logistics, then mentioned she flew in to L.A. just for the parade and block party, which marked her first attendance at a public LGBTQ+ event.

“How incredible to come to the community and find a connection,” Spillari remembered. “She found herself in a safe space, a celebratory space for the first time.”
