Except for its prime location, you can get better value-for-money somewhere else!”

Location is FANTASTIC with its close proximity to the Eiffel Tower so if you want to catch the tower in its glory at night, you don't have to go far. Aside from that, everything else is really not up to standard for a 5-star hotel. The housekeeping did a poor job at cleaning the room (crumbs were still left on the carpet though the room has been cleaned), left a note to request for a shower cap but didn't get it (maybe the housekeeping staff only understand French). Coffee pods were not replenished daily that we had to buy our own supplies - yes, they don't cost much but this is definitely NOT the kind of service guests expect/want from a 5-star hotel. Slippers were also not replenished daily - i mean, we don't get a cheaper rate with each extra day that we stay there so why should we expect less than what we got on our first day of stay, right? On some days, we were given large bath towels but on other days, the towels were smaller. They really could and SHOULD do better...

This luxurious air-conditioned hotel offers 112 non-smoking guestrooms only 10 miles from Orly Field and 16 miles from Charles De Gaulle Airport.

The guestrooms are inside of a 19th-century building designed by Ricardo Bofill and feature a contemporary style. Guests can choose a classic room ideal for a single visitor or two-bedroom suites that can hold up to four guests who want a spacious area to enjoy the city.

All rooms are tastefully fitted and furnished with LCD televisions with national and international channels, Nespresso coffee machines, hairdryers, ironing boards, steam irons, and mini-bars. Wireless Internet access is also provided as is daily housekeeping.

Relais de la Flamme Olympique de Paris 2024 : fabriquée par ArcelorMittal, la Torche va traverser le département de la Moselle le 27 juin

Maizières-lès-Metz et Florange, le 25 juin 2024 – Ce jeudi 27 juin, le département de la Moselle accueillera le Relais de la Flamme Olympique de Paris 2024. Au centre de tous les regards pendant ce Relais : la Torche des Jeux de Paris 2024, fabriquée par ArcelorMittal en acier 100 % fait en France et 100 % recyclé.

A la fin de l’étape, le Chaudron , également fabriqué par ArcelorMittal, sera enflammé par le dernier Porteur de Flamme sur le site de célébration de Metz.

Enfin, comme l’ensemble des 11 000 Porteurs de Flamme Olympique et Paralympique, chaque relayeur recevra en cadeau le Cœur de la Torche , un anneau d’acier lui aussi fabriqué par ArcelorMittal, inspiré de l’anneau central qui unit les deux parties de la Torche.

ArcelorMittal, partenaire officiel des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de Paris 2024 et Partenaire Technique des Relais de la Flamme Olympique et Paralympique de Paris 2024, est responsable de la fabrication de la Torche, du Chaudron et du Cœur de la Torche des Jeux de Paris 2024. En collaboration avec le designer Mathieu Lehanneur, ArcelorMittal a mis au point le processus de production de ces trois objets emblématiques des Jeux, dans ses usines propres et chez quelques prestataires soigneusement sélectionnés en France pour la qualité de leurs savoir-faire. L’acier de la Torche des Jeux de Paris 2024 est ainsi 100 % fabriqué en France et 100 % à partir d’acier recyclé, contribuant notamment à limiter l’impact CO 2 .

Quatorze salariés d’ArcelorMittal feront partie des porteurs de la Flamme Olympique de Paris 2024 en Moselle, reflétant la forte implantation du groupe ArcelorMittal dans le département, avec plusieurs sites industriels notamment à Florange, Uckange, Gandrange, Woippy, ainsi que le premier site de Recherche et Développement du groupe à Maizières-lès-Metz.

Un passage de la Flamme sur notre site de Maizières pour saluer la contribution d’ArcelorMittal

Ce 27 juin, notre site de R&D de Maizières accueillera justement la Flamme Olympique de Paris 2024 le temps d’un des segments de l’étape du jour. Deux salariés ArcelorMittal porteront la Flamme : Miranda, ingénieure de recherche sur le site de Maizières, et Julien, technicien opérationnel sur le site de Florange. Ce segment du Relais de la Flamme Olympique de Paris 2024, événement privé réservé aux salariés du site, salue la contribution d’ArcelorMittal aux Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de Paris 2024 en mettant à l’honneur le rôle clé de la R&D.  

La R&D d’ArcelorMittal est en effet intervenue dès l’origine du projet de fabrication de la Torche pour définir les modes de production, produire les prototypes et conduire les essais. Sur le campus de Maizières ont été réalisées les études sur l’acier utilisé, l’impression 3D des premiers prototypes et l’usinage de pièces des structures internes. Le centre de recherche de Montataire a œuvré sur l’assemblage par collage, la mise en forme et la validation du fonctionnement de la torche. L’équipe R&D du Creusot a également contribué à la coulée du métal en lien avec l’usine de Châteauneuf. Enfin, le site d’Avilés en Espagne a apporté son savoir-faire en matière d’impression 3D à partir de poudres pour réaliser les premiers prototypes métalliques.

Une Torche en acier 100 % recyclé et 100 % fait en France

Les premières étapes de fabrication de la Torche des Jeux de Paris 2024 ont été réalisées au début de l’été 2023 sur trois sites ArcelorMittal, dont deux en Moselle, choisis pour leur capacité à produire un acier à empreinte carbone réduite et répondant aux exigences du design de Mathieu Lehanneur.

• A Châteauneuf (42), ArcelorMittal a coulé un acier 100 % recyclé, à partir d’acier usagé récupéré puis fondu. Le choix de cette filière permet d’obtenir un acier à empreinte carbone réduite.
• L’acier a ensuite été laminé sur le site ArcelorMittal de Florange (57), sur les lignes qui servent habituellement aux produits les plus exigeants destinés à l’industrie automobile et à l’emballage alimentaire, pour obtenir une feuille d’acier de 0,7 millimètre d’épaisseur.
• Enfin, le site ArcelorMittal de Woippy (57) a assuré la découpe de cette feuille d’acier en flans prêts à être mis en forme.

De novembre 2023 au printemps 2024, ArcelorMittal a produit en série la Torche des Jeux de Paris 2024 sur les sites industriels de ses prestataires : mise en forme, traitement de surface, revêtement et assemblage.

Chaudron : des défis multiples à relever pour la fabrication Quant au Chaudron, il a été produit par ArcelorMittal et ses prestataires avec des métaux fournis par son entité ArcelorMittal Distribution basée à Reims (51).

L’enjeu de la fabrication de cet objet était de relever plusieurs défis, et notamment :

• Le défi du design, pour faire coïncider un projet avec les possibilités techniques et industrielles : forme d’anneau, effets de reflets sur le socle…
• Le défi du poids, afin que le Chaudron reste léger et facilement transportable entre les villes-étapes, y compris vers l’outre-mer
• Le défi de l’accessibilité, afin qu’il puisse être enflammé par tous, y compris une personne à mobilité réduite.  

Pour les Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de Paris 2024, ArcelorMittal fabrique également deux sculptures géantes en acier 100 % recyclé, les « Spectaculars » :

• Les Anneaux Olympiques géants, qui ont été installés sur la tour Eiffel à Paris début juin : mesurant 29 mètres de long sur 15 mètres de haut, ils orneront la Dame de Fer jusqu’à la fin des Jeux Paralympiques
• Les Agitos Paralympiques , qui seront prochainement installés de même sur un célèbre monument parisien.

L’acier pour ces « Spectaculars », coulé sur le site ArcelorMittal de Châteauneuf (42), a ensuite été laminé et découpé sur les sites ArcelorMittal de Dunkerque et Denain (59).

Collet veut « une vraie équipe » aux Jeux

Vincent Collet sait dans quelle direction il faut aller. Trois ans après avoir échoué face aux Etats-Unis en finale du tournoi olympique à Tokyo, le sélectionneur de l’équipe de France entend bien conclure Paris 2024 une marche plus haut. A ses yeux, la clé pour parvenir à cet objectif sera la défense. « Ma conviction, qui est très forte, c'est que notre ambition sur ces Jeux de Paris ne se réalisera qu'à la condition qu'on soit une équipe défensive exceptionnelle , a déclaré Vincent Collet à l’occasion d’une conférence de presse organisée ce jeudi à l’INSEP. Il faut aussi que l'on retrouve notre capacité à courir, à proposer du jeu rapide. On ne le faisait plus du tout l'an passé : il faut le retrouver. »

Une idée motrice est directement tirée de l’échec retentissant des Bleus à l’occasion de la Coupe du Monde disputée l’an passé aux Philippines, avec une 18eme place finale. « Quand on a eu des médailles, on était toujours dans les deux ou trois meilleures défenses du tournoi, rappelle le sélectionneur des Bleus. L'an passé, on était redevenu une équipe défensive moyenne. Le gap était vertigineux à tous points de vue. On a sombré dans ce domaine-là. On souhaite d'abord reconstruire autour de ça. »

Collet ne veut rien laisser au hasard

Un autre élément que Vincent Collet compte changer entre 2023 et 2024, c’est la cohésion du groupe, qui a notamment été au cœur du travail entrepris à l’occasion de la première semaine de préparation. « Nous avons fait passer aux joueurs des entretiens individuels.
