The Revolutionary Story Tour

Price: Adults from $76; kids from $38 Duration: 4 hours

Many reviewers call this tour enjoyable and one of the best walking tours they'd ever been on thanks to the engaging guide. Led by a local resident with degrees in history, political science and public policy, the tour takes visitors through the streets of Boston to chronologically retell the story of the American Revolution. Along the 3.5-mile jaunt, you'll pass by a dozen of the sites featured on the Freedom Trail, and you'll also hear about the key players in 18th-century Boston, including John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Paul Revere.

Tours are offered daily at 9:30 a.m. There is also a 1:30 p.m. tour Thursday through Sunday during the winter months and daily during the summer months through the beginning of November. There is a maximum of 16 people per tour. The company partners with another local guide to provide private tours.

City Experiences by Hornblower – New England Aquarium Whale Watch Cruise

Price: Adults from $65; kids from $45 Duration: 3.5 hours

Hop on one of City Experience's high-speed catamarans for a whale watching excursion to the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary. This area is a magnet for whales, dolphins, sea birds and other marine creatures who head there to feed. New England Aquarium naturalists on board offer their insights on whales, answer questions and explain whale behaviors, a big plus for travelers. During your trip, you may see several different species of whales, including humpbacks, finbacks, minkes, sei whales and endangered right whales.

Tours leave from mid-May through early-November from Long Wharf, which is located near the aquarium. Tour frequency depends on the month, but there is at least one per day. Cruisers say the tour is fun and report seeing plenty of wildlife. Combo tickets that include admission to the aquarium are also available. The company also offers sightseeing and sunset cruises.

CityView Trolley Tours

Price: Adults from $42; kids from $20 Duration: 1 hour

The family-friendly hop-on, hop-off CityView Trolley Tours offer a convenient and comfortable way to explore the city and visit its top attractions , something visitors (especially those in Boston for the first time) appreciate. Explore the top sights in Boston on this hop-on, hop-off trolley tour that makes 18 stops. Along the route, you can hop off and explore attractions like Faneuil Hall, the "Cheers" bar, the USS Constitution and the Old State House, and then hop back on at your leisure. Fenway Park Tours

Quack and splash your way around Beantown with the entertaining Boston Duck Tours, which takes passengers around Boston and into the Charles River on World War II-style amphibious landing vehicles. The nonprofit Freedom Trail Foundation leads the way on this tour of the Freedom Trail – a milelong path that weaves past some of the city's most historic sites. A costumed guide, in character, leads you to 11 sites, including Boston Common, King's Chapel, the Old South Meeting House, the Boston Massacre site and Faneuil Hall. Reviewers rave about the guides and the characters they inhabit, and highly recommend this excursion over a self-guided tour of the Freedom Trail.

Tours are given daily at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. Other themed tours, including tours that focus on the women of the Revolutionary War and African American patriots, are also available.

Boston Foodie Tours explores two of Boston's famous mainstays: The North End and the Boston Public Market. Explorations In A City Of Firsts

As one of America's oldest cities, Boston can proudly claim many "firsts." The first public park, Boston Common, is across from the Massachusetts State House in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. The Boston Public Library, founded in 1852, is the first extensive free municipal library. The first subway system in America opened in downtown Boston in 1897. And the first lighthouse in America was established in Boston Harbor on Little Brewster Island in 1716. We boast the first telephone call, the first public school, the first computer, and many, many more!

Boston, and the surrounding area, are also home to many great inventions. The disposable razor was patented in 1901 by King C. Gillette. The 54th Massachusetts was the first unit in the Union Army made up of free Black soldiers in the Civil War. And the original Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie was invented in nearby Whitman, MA, by Ruth Wakefield.

What are private tours.

Private tours include just you and your family and friends. That’s all. To ensure you have a personal experience, your group will consist of you and your family/friends/colleagues, only. We never mix groups, or put you with strangers. There is no minimum: if it’s just you, we look forward to becoming your travel companion for the day.

Do you offer private tours for larger groups?

Yes! Larger groups include tour group on a bus, school groups, corporate groups, etc. Tours for larger groups range in size from 10 to upwards of 60 or more people. For information and pricing on group tours for other organizations, please contact us.

What if someone in my group has mobility issues?

We will work with you to the best of our ability to ensure you’re able to enjoy our city at a comfortable pace and within a reasonably safe, respectful environment.

Where does the tour begin?

Starting points can vary depending upon the tour that you choose. Private tours can often begin at the Boston location of your choice including hotels, B&B’s private homes, etc. or a designated meeting place will be determined prior to tour day. The Freedom Trail tours begin at the corner of Hanover Street and Cross Street at the Tony DeMarco boxing statue or the corner of Park Street & Tremont Street between the Park St. subway stations.

Are prices per person?

No! Prices are per group, in US dollars. The price of your tour is guaranteed the moment we receive your deposit.

Are there any additional fees or admissions?

Optional admission to the Old North Church - $5.00 and Paul Revere House - Adults - $5.00 Seniors and College Students - $4.50 Children (ages 5-17) - $1.00 Cash only for admission. Old State House Museum optional visit admission: Adults - $10.00 , Seniors (62+) - $8.50, Students - $8.50, Youth (6-18), Members, US Military, and Veterans - FREE

What forms of payment do you take?

We accept all major credit cards, Venmo or company check in advance of your tour.

What is the cancellation policy?

BTS must receive written notification of cancellation. The date such notification is received by BTS will determine the applicable cancellation penalties. The following cancellation penalties apply:

• More than 90 days prior to participant's scheduled tour date, 100% of paid contracted tour amount will be refunded by BST.
• From 21-90 days prior to participant's scheduled tour date, 50% of paid contracted tour amount less any costs associated with ground transportation will be refunded by BST.
• From 14- 21 days to scheduled day of participant's tour date 25% of paid contracted tour amount less any costs associated with ground transportation will be refunded by BST.
• Any cancellation of tours less than 14 days prior to participant's scheduled tour date, no refunds will be issued will be refunded by BST.
• For tours requiring use of a third-party vehicle, no refunds are available if the notice given conflicts with the third-party cancellation policy.

Do you accept gratuities?

Tipping is by no means a requirement or expectation for anyone on our team. If you had a great tour and enjoyed the service that your guide provided then leaving a tip is always greatly appreciated. This can be done with cash, Venmo or added to your invoice.

When are tours offered?

Tours run year round. Select the date on our reservations calendar and a tour representative will respond to confirm the date and time you prefer is available.

What about the weather?

This is New England. We are a hearty bunch and will go out in all kinds of weather. If it rains, we can spend more time inside of attractions and dodge the puddles while using an umbrella. Flexibility is the name of the game! We reserve the right to cancel any tour if the weather conditions are determined to be unsafe.

Bostonians would sooner root for the Yankees than endure the indignities of a slow-moving city tour with a bunch of non-natives, but that doesn’t mean we still don’t love exploring the best Boston attractions with savvy visitors in tow. From the best free things to do in Boston to the best museums in Boston , the Hub offers plenty of cultural options and activities. While it’s easy to hit the pavement and enjoy “America’s walking city” at your own pace, if you really want to dig deeper and learn all about the area’s rich, unique history and culture, make your plans now to check out these cool Boston city tours.

Best Boston city tours

1.  fenway park tour.

This is the one you haul all the out-of-towners to—mostly because you can’t wait to go yourself. The hour-long tour includes player and ballpark history and visits to the press box and Pesky’s Pole; depending on the guide, you also might visit the bullpens and peek behind the anachronistic scoreboard. Game-day tours are available as well—hours, options and prices vary, check the website for special event info and restrictions.

2.  Historic Sightseeing Cruise

This narrated, 90-minute sightseeing tour takes you around some of the Harbor Islands while recounting the city’s history as a shipping port, as well as the role that the harbor played in the Revolutionary War. Just prepare yourself for the conditions (tours are offered daily, year-round), as well as the inevitable real estate envy when you sail past all the stunning waterfront condos. 

3.  Samuel Adams Brewery Tour

For a city that’s often hamstrung by booze-related blue laws, Boston sure has a fine collection of breweries. The city’s most famous brewer is Samuel Adams, the Revolutionary and “maltster” after whom the brewery is named. Tours of the Jamaica Plain facility run daily (except for Sundays) and are free, although there is a suggested charitable donation of $2. You’ll taste the malts, smell the hops and enjoy multiple samples.

You can spend years visiting the BPL and never have proper knowledge of the beauty contained within. These free, volunteer-led tours—no appointment needed—offer architectural insight into both the original Renaissance Revival McKim building and the modernist Philip Johnson wing (added in 1972). Even longtime patrons are impressed by the sheer volume of oils, tapestries and sculptures populating the halls, including the John Singer Sargent murals that took some 30 years to create. 

5.  Freedom Trail Tour

The Freedom Trail  often gets a bad rap among locals, some of whom are tired of the gussied-up guides posing as historical figures as they shuffle tourists through the historical sites. If you don ’ t want to take a guided tour, it ’ s easy to enjoy the lovely self-guided stroll, two and a half miles that remind you of the city’s unparalleled Colonial and Revolutionary history. And if the trail has only whetted your appetite for historical discovery, consider taking a self-guided tour along the Black Heritage Trail or the Women’s Heritage Trail .

6.  Arnold Arboretum Tour

This Jamaica Plain respite is worth a visit, in part due to the oldest and largest collection of lilac bushes in the world, predating even the founding of the arboretum in 1872. Free weekend tours will help better acquaint you with the vast expanse of flora. Check ahead to confirm hours and weather cancellations, and look into special seasonal themed tours that focus on one species, like the greenhouse collection of potted bonsai plants.

Designed by Bulfinch and completed in 1798, this magnificent structure replaced the old legislative building across Boston Common, which had been the headquarters of the British government. Included with admission, tours help visitors understand how the Old State House was the political center of Revolutionary Boston. 11.  Castle Island Park and Fort Independence

Locals sometimes forget about the 1850 granite bastion known as Fort Independence, poised at the ocean end of South Boston on Castle Island. It’s a good spot for an all-day picnic, or to pretend you’re going on a medieval raid. Free tours of the fort are offered on summer weekends; check in advance for details.

12.  Boston Lobster Tours

Trap-to-table is the only way to eat your favorite crustacean. Take a tour aboard a legit Downeast-style lobster boat with up to three other friends (bench seating is offered), and cruise around the Boston Harbor for 75 minutes, learning about the local industry and hauling up two traps of your own; whatever is of legal size is yours to keep and (presumably) eat.

13.  City Wine Tours

Two hours of wine drinking under the auspices of learning? Yes, we imagine a few Bostonians would partake. Boston Itinerary: How to Spend Five Days in Boston

One of the most historic cities in the United States , Boston is the city I called home for the first 25 years of my life.

More a collection of towns than a metropolis like New York , Boston is a city steeped in history (it contains a lot of historical firsts for the United States and played a pivotal role in its founding), delicious food, wide-open green spaces, first-rate museums, and warm, welcoming people.

Visiting Boston offers all the benefits of a big metropolis without the intensity and fast pace of New York.

Boston is easy to get around and compact, making it perfect for travelers. The subway will take you wherever you need to go.

So how many days do you need to visit Boston?

Most people visit for three to four days, and I think that’s a perfect amount of time. As someone who’s lived there, I can say that, since Boston is so small, you won’t waste a lot of time “in transit,” so you can pack a lot into your days. Obviously, you can spend longer here (slow travel is the best travel), but for the first-time visitor, three to four days is enough.

Here’s a suggested Boston itinerary that will allow you to see the best of Boston:

You follow a brick road through the city, and there are signs and historical markers all along the way. Given all the walking that’s involved, I would make this the main activity of the day. You’ll want to take your time and see all the sites thoroughly.

You can also take a guided tour from the visitor’s center. Tours run hourly between 11am and 1pm, with additional tours in the afternoon in the spring and summer. Tickets are $17 USD for adults, $15 USD for students and seniors, and $8 USD for children 6-12 (free for kids under 6).

Browse for Books Located a stone’s throw away from the Boston Common, Brattle Book Shop is a family-run used bookstore that dates back to 1825. It’s actually one of the oldest surviving bookstores in the country! It’s home to over 250,000 books, maps, postcards, and other odds and ends. In addition to used books, the store is also home to an impressive collection of first editions and antique books.

Walk Around the Back Bay This area used to be an actual bay. Before the Europeans arrived, the indigenous population used the tidal bay to catch fish, as the bay drained completely during low tide. When the land was colonized, a dam was built and the tidal bay was eventually filled in, creating the Back Bay area.

The end of the Public Gardens meets Boston’s Back Bay, our version of New York’s SoHo and West Village. This is where Boston’s elite and wealthy live, and nearby Newbury Street is our Madison Avenue, with lots of expensive shopping and high-end eateries. It’s a beautiful space to stroll around, with pretty brownstones and tree-lined streets. You can still see plenty of old Victorian homes in this neighborhood that date back to the 19th century. You’ll also find the Boston Public Library here. Opened in 1852, it’s one of the largest municipal libraries in the country, home to over 23 million items, with almost 4 million visitors each year.

Head up to the Prudential Tower Head back toward Copley to see the Prudential Tower, colloquially known as “The Pru.” You can actually go up to the top and get a bird’s-eye view of Boston. There are 52 floors in the building, which was built in the 1960s. These days, it’s the second tallest building in the city (the John Hancock Tower is first).

1 Central Wharf, +1 617-973-5200, neaq.org. Open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, weekends 9am-6pm. Admission is $34 USD for adults, with discounts available for kids and seniors.

See the Skinny House When you’re in the North End, visit 44 Hull Street. Known as “the Skinny House” (or the Spite House), this incredibly narrow house has a rather interesting history. Built after the Civil War, it was a passion project of Joseph Euestus, who came home from the war to find that his brother had taken over more than half of the inherited land they were meant to share. Joseph decided to build on the remaining land — which his brother thought was too small to build anything on. Joseph went ahead and built a narrow four-story home on the small slice of land to block his brother’s view.

Visit an Art Gallery or Museum Boston has a lot of great galleries and museums, so depending on your interest, you’ll want to check out some (or all) of the galleries and museums below. It will take more than an afternoon to see them all but you can always spread these visits out over a few days!

• Institute of Contemporary Art : If contemporary art is your cup of tea, this is for you. While it’s not my favorite style of art, I have to admit this place does put on some insightful exhibits. 25 Harbor Shore Drive, +1 617-478-3100, icaboston.org.
• Commonwealth Museum : This museum explores the history of Massachusetts. It’s actually really interesting and entirely underrated (especially if you’re a history nerd like me). 220 Morrissey Blvd, +1 617-727-2816, sec.state.ma.us/arc.
• Harvard Museum of Natural History : This natural history museum has exhibitions showcasing dinosaurs, animals, and minerals (including meteorites). It’s a great choice if you’re traveling with kids, though there is plenty of informative content for adults too! 26 Oxford St +1 617-495-3045, hmnh.harvard.edu.
• Harvard University Art Museums : Harvard actually has three art museums – the Fogg Museum, the Busch-Reisinger Museum, and the Arthur M. Sackler Museum. They are home to both modern and historical art exhibitions. See what exhibitions are running by checking their website. harvardartmuseums.org
• Museum of Fine Arts : This museum has an impressive collection of over 450,000 pieces of fine art. It also runs all sorts of art classes throughout the year, both multi-week classes as well as single-day workshops. • Warren Anatomical Museum : Founded in 1847, this macabre museum is filled with Civil War–era medical tools as well as some unique (and perhaps unsettling) medical mysteries. It’s super weird but super neat. • Boston Tea Party and Ships Museum : This interactive museum is home to some historic ships that have been authentically restored to show you what life was like at sea during the Boston Tea Party. It also has a really informative documentary about the events that led up to the Tea Party and the American Revolution. Best of all, you can actually throw fake crates of tea into the river yourself to see what it was like! 306 Congress St, +1 617-338-1773, bostonteapartyship.com.
• Paul Revere House : Built in 1680, this is actually the oldest building in the entire city (it’s been renovated but it’s still the original building). The museum is filled with the family’s furniture and artifacts, giving you a sense of what life was like in Boston before the Revolution. 19 N Square, +1 617-523-2338, paulreverehouse.org.
• Museum of Bad Art : The name says it all! This is a museum filled with terrible art. The MOBA has rotating exhibits throughout the year, so there is always something new and terrible to behold. If you feel like a laugh, definitely check out this quirky gallery! 55 Davis Square, +1 781-444-6757, museumofbadart.org.
• Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum This museum is home to an amazing art collection of over 20,000 items, including European, Asian, and American art. Opened in 1903, the museum is made up of a wide-ranging collection of paintings, tapestries, decorative arts, and sculptures. It’s one of the best museums in Boston. Take the Sam Adams Brewery Tour After four days of sightseeing, you deserve a beer or five. Luckily, this brewery is located near the Arboretum so it’s easy to visit and a great way to end your day. Sam Adams is a major brewer in Boston, and locals drink it widely and frequently. The brewery offers free tours, starting in mid-afternoon and departing every 45 minutes. You get a few free samples along the way. If you’re under 21, don’t worry. You can still go — you just can’t drink.

30 Germania St, +1 617-368-5080, samueladams.com. Tours are available Monday-Thursday and Saturdays 10am-3pm. On Friday, tours are available between 10am and 5:30pm. Their Sam Signature Experience is 45 min long and costs $10 USD.

(The Sox not in season? No worries. We have the Bruins, Celtics, and Patriots. No matter the time of year, you’ll be able to find a game to see!)  

Visit the Children’s Museum If you’re traveling with kids, this is a great place to spend part of your visit. It’s the second oldest children’s museum in the US and has permanent exhibits on health and exercise, construction, space, art, and diversity. It also has a real two-story house from Kyoto, Japan, that teaches kids about life there (it’s actually pretty cool!).

308 Congress Street, +1 617-426-6500, bostonchildrensmuseum.org. Open Wednesday-Sunday 9am-12pm and 1:30pm-4:30pm. On the first Saturday of the month, the museum opens at 10am. Admission is $20 USD for both adults and kids (free for infants under 12 months).

Charlestown Navy Yard, +1 617-426-1812, ussconstitutionmuseum.org. The ship is open Tuesday-Sunday 10am-6pm (with extended hours in the summer); the museum is open 10am-6pm (with extended hours in the summer as well). Admission is free, though the museum has a suggested donation of $10-15 USD.

Visit More Museums – With any extra time, visit more museums! There’s plenty of them to see! Try not to skip the big ones!

725 Commonwealth Avenue, +1 617-353-2630, bu.edu/astronomy/community/open-night-observatory/. Viewings are Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm in the autumn and winter and 8:30pm in the spring and summer. Make sure to get there 10 minutes early as they don’t permit entry once it starts.

See the Mapparium – Located in the Mary Baker Eddy Library, this three-story inverted globe serves as a giant map of the world that you can walk into via a glass bridge. It is constructed of over 600 stained-glass panels and shows the world as it looked in 1935.

Head to Castle Island – Castle Island is located in South Boston and is famous for Fort Independence. When the fort was no longer needed for defense, it was actually used as the first state prison. The island covers 22 acres and has excellent beaches, as well as some running trails that are popular with the locals. There’s also an area for picnics and you can visit the old fort for free. The place gets pretty busy on the weekends during the summer, and you can often see school groups exploring the fort during the spring.

Relax at the Lawn on D – This massive green space is new to the city (when I was growing up, there was nothing in this area so you would never go there). There are all sorts of free activities happening year-round, from concerts to festivities and everything in between! There’s public seating, free Wi-Fi, art exhibitions, and a few games, like table tennis and bocce. To see what events are happening during your visit, check the website for details.

Hike the Blue Hills – This park is a bit out of the way, but it’s definitely worth a visit if you want to get out and stretch your legs. The 7,000-acre park is home to over 100 miles of trails and offers some picturesque viewpoints. There are also plenty of activities to keep you entertained, such as boating, fishing, skiing, and rock climbing (depending on the season). It can get busy in the summer on the weekends, so just be sure to arrive early.

Tour the Custom House – Built in the 17th century, the Custom House is one of the most recognizable buildings in the city. In 1915, a tower was added to the building, making it the tallest building in the city at the time. The building is owned by Marriott Hotels now, though you can still take a free tour (by appointment) to go up to the observation deck on the 26th floor.

Boston is a great city (and I’m not just saying that because I grew up there). I’ve never encountered a person who hasn’t liked it. This Boston itinerary will give you a good overview of the city at a relaxing pace. You’ll be moving around a lot, though, so make sure you get an unlimited “T” pass (subway/train pass). If you have more time, you can squeeze in some other activities .

But why rush such a beautiful place?

Take it slow. Mix and match the itinerary to suit your needs but this is how I’d structure my days if I was visiting Boston!

Cons: 1. Daniel Webster Inn was over-rated. Would not stay there again. 2. Visit to the Plimouth Plantation was a waste of time. Spent way too much time there. 3. Transportation from Logan Airport to the Boston Hyatt was a mess!!!! No signs, no directions, and the taxi driver had no idea what to do with the voucher. Ended up paying for the taxi! Ridiculous!! 4. Service at the included dinner at the Daniel Webster Inn was horrible!! Kathy (our waitress) should be fired! However, the food was delicious! 5. Not enough time spent in Nantucket. 6. Way too much time spent at the Breakers in Newport. 7. This should not be considered an 8-day tour. All we did on day 8 was ride on the bus to the airport! Pros: 1. Tour director Robin was outstanding!! Wellness director, Brittany, was also fabulous! 2. Canolis, Cape Code Chips and Cape Codders on the bus was a nice touch! Thoroughly enjoyed the snacks on the bus! 3. Ferry to Martha's Vineyard was fun! Thoroughly enjoyed the talk session/information about the Martha's Vineyard Camp Meeting Association. Very interesting. 4. Local guide tour of Nantucket Island was great! Lots of interesting information. Not enough time spent in Nantucket. 5. Loved the Harbor View hotel! 6. Sailing on the Adirondack II was THE BEST!! Need to offer more than one Mimosa! 7. Luggage service was great.

I was hoping we'd stop more so that I could take more pictures of foliage but overall I enjoyed all that we did. Brigette is a great person, with a fantastic personality.

Your guide to the Celtics’ championship parade: What to know if you’re going, and how to watch if you can’t

Clear your schedules, and plan to take the day off on Friday for the Celtics’ NBA Championship parade.

If you’ve forgotten the procedure in the six years since the City of Boston last hosted a championship parade, here’s a refresher: As many as 25 duck boats will begin their slow roll through the streets of Boston Friday at 11 a.m., starting in front of TD Garden on Causeway Street and ending on Boylston Street near the Hynes Convention Center.

Temperatures are expected to cool slightly Friday after a sweltering week in Boston , but it’s still going to be a hot one, so Mayor Michelle Wu reminded fans to stay hydrated.

The celebrations began Monday night after Boston blew out the Dallas Mavericks, 106-88, in Game 5 at TD Garden to win their NBA-record 18th title.

Read on for everything you need to before Friday, including the route, road closures, safety information, and more.

Celtics parade in Boston: What you need to know

• Date and time: Friday, June 21 beginning at 11 a.m.
• Location: The parade route will run from in front of TD Garden on Causeway Street, past City Hall Plaza and the Boston Common on Tremont Street, and end on Boylston Street by the Hynes Convention Center.
• Forecast: The temperature is expected to be in the mid-80s. Keep up with the latest forecast here .
• Getting there: Wu urged residents to take public transit on Friday as the MBTA will be increasing service on all transit lines. Parking on certain streets in the West End, Downtown, and Back Bay will be closed just after midnight on Friday morning, Wu said.
• Road closures: Streets along the parade route will be shut down to traffic starting at 9 a.m. Friday morning, Wu said. A list of closed street is available on the city’s website .

When is the Celtics parade?

The duck boats will depart from TD Garden Friday at 11 a.m. — the usual start time for the dozen other parades Boston Duck Tours has held between February of 2002 and February 2019 for the Patriots (six), Red Sox (four), Bruins (one), and Celtics (one).

Ed Davis, the former Boston Police Commissioner in the middle of the Title Town parade run that included the Celtics’ 2008 rolling rally, said that a morning start is a hedge against adult-beverage-fueled unruliness.

“From a police perspective, having something in the morning, it’s less likely to have violence associated with it because of alcohol consumption and things like that, so it just makes it a safer time,” said Davis.

Insider tip: Stake out your spot early. It’s best to get there a few hours before the parade begins if you want to get close to the action.

What is the route for the Celtics parade?

The parade will run from in front of TD Garden on Causeway Street, following Staniford Street to Cambridge Street, which turns into Tremont Street, and then along Boylston Street until the duck boats reach the Hynes Convention Center.

What’s the weather forecast for the Celtics parade?

According to Globe meteorologist Ken Mahan, this week’s heat wave is expected to lift just in time for Friday’s victory parade. The forecast is calling for partly cloudy skies with highs in the mid-80s and a heat index — how it actually feels outside — of 87. The humidity, however, may be high, making it feel extra warm and muggy.

Be sure to drink plenty of water, and pack your sunscreen if you’re planning to camp out along the route.

The city’s Office of Emergency Management will have misting tents ats City Hall Plaza and the Boston Common to help fans cool off.

Celtics parade rules and safety information

The celebrations on Monday night were relatively tame, as police arrested eight people, mostly for disorderly conduct. Boston police commissioner Michael Cox said there were no other major security or safety issues reported, which he hopes will be the case Friday as well.

“For the most part it was a good crowd,” Cox told the Globe Tuesday. “It’s always a little much when you have that many people, sometimes not everyone listens, but for the most part all our fans did well last night, hopefully they’ll continue to do well going into this. . . . We just want people to celebrate responsibly.”

Mayor Michelle Wu said Tuesday that fans should expect a heavy presence of police — including both uniformed and plainclothes officers — and first responders outside TD Garden and along the route.

“We are also encouraging everyone to celebrate safely, and look out for each other,” Wu said. “Although the weather will cool off slightly by Friday, this is our first heat wave of the year, and we are expecting temperatures in the mid- to high-nineties through Thursday.”

Cox reminded residents “there is no public drinking or use of marijuana on the route in any way.” He also said there should be no climbing or standing on mailboxes, bus vestibules, rooftops, or light polls. If fans do not get down from those areas when asked by police, they could be arrested, he said.

“Any disruptive behavior, fighting, things of that nature, will not be tolerated,” Cox said. “Let’s remember that this is a family-friendly event and we expect everybody to act accordingly.”

Prohibited items at the parade include alcoholic beverages; large bags, coolers, or glass containers; drones; weapons (or replicas of weapons); and fireworks.

During the Celtics’ 2008 parade, police made more than 20 arrests for a variety of reasons, ranging from disorderly conduct to assault and battery.

Road closures and T service during the Celtics parade

Streets along the parade route will be closed starting at 9 a.m. Parking will also be heavily restricted in the areas surrounding the parade route starting just after midnight on Friday. For a full list of street that will be shutdowns and parking restrictions, visit the city’s website.

Wu urged fans to use public transportation to get downtown. The MBTA will provide increased service and modified Commuter Rail schedules to accommodate the anticipated large crowds. For more information, visit the MBTA’s website.

How can you watch the Celtics parade at home?

If you can’t make it downtown for the parade but don’t want to miss out on the fun, you can watch the festivities on NBA TV and the NBA App.

NBC Sports Boston and NBC10 Boston will have live, all-day coverage of the celebrations beginning at 5 a.m. and running through the end of the festivities. Brian Scalabrine will host the coverage and will be joined by analysts, reporters, current and former players, and other special guests.

How many duck boats are involved?

Cindy Brown, CEO of Boston Duck Tours, said Friday that the company is expecting to deploy anywhere from the high teens to 25 vehicles to transport Celtics players, coaches, staffers, and assorted Green legends through throngs of fans along the route.

The company will run a full schedule-through the day before, and then spend the evening and overnight preparing the duck boats for a parade. That includes taking out the seats on the top deck and installing a platform high enough for the celebrants to be seen over the railing as the convoy slowly moves past the throngs of spectators.

Boston Duck Tours doesn’t get paid for the use of its boats and it doesn’t pay the city or the team to use its boats. The company will have to cancel pre-booked tours on the day of the parade and swallow a day’s worth of revenue that is “far into six figures,” said Brown.

“Obviously the marketing opportunity and the pure joy for our staff to be involved in something so important to the city is worth it,” said Brown.

The quintet came out of the night as winners, too, however.

Magic Summer is the group’s first headlining tour on its own in seven years, following two elaborate Mixtape Tour packages with other artists; while New Kids was the star of those shows, they were highly collaborative and markedly different than doing the heavy lifting of a two-hour concert themselves. But the troupe was certainly up to the task on Tuesday, just the third show of this tour and its first outdoor appearance in the metro area since 2009.

It’s fair to say that back when it was having its first hits during the late 80s not many would have picked the then-teenaged New Kids to be around at all right now, much less filling amphitheaters and arenas and performing at the high level they did on Tuesday, for an overwhelmingly female audience of colorfully attired OG fan mothers, their daughters and nieces and even some granddaughters. But in their 50s, well beyond being New or Kids, the fivesome — Donnie Wahlberg, brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre and Danny Wood — offered nothing less than high-caliber entertainment from start to finish; McIntyre may have sung to the Pine Knob crowd that “you show up, every time,” but New Kids did the same — and undeterred by the evening’s sweltering heat as the group paced through its tight dance routines and several costume changes.

It was, admittedly, a bit disquieting that the show, as well as opener Paula Abdul’s set, was performed to pre-recorded tracks. As per the Mixtape tours there wasn’t a live musician on stage throughout the night, except for when McIntyre played piano during a brief rendition of “Where Do I Go From Here?” The fans didn’t care a lick, however, and if you were willing to “suspend disbelief,” as it were, it was easy to have the proverbial nothin’ but a good time.

New Kids’ arrival — on a platform that rose to the top of a center-stage staircase — came after a half-hour of spinning by DJ Jazzy Jeff, who’s rebranded himself as “The Magnificent,” and a quizzical, conceptual performance by Abdul and her seven dancers. Designed to enact the preparations for a tour, right down to Abdul taking hits of oxygen on stage, it was pitched a bit high for an outdoor opening slot and treated the hits — “Straight Up,” “Opposites Attract,” “(It’s Just) The Way That You Love Me,” “Forever Your Girl” and more — almost as asides despite her contention that “it all starts with the music.

In contrast, New Kids was fully dialed in. A pair of new songs — “Magic” and “Summer Love” from this year’s “Just Kids” album — got things going, and the album was featured throughout the show, including a late-set medley accompanied by Jazzy Jeff. There were two confetti storms within the first half-hour and lasers going by the fourth song, “Cover Girl,” while two groups of lucky fans flanking the group on either side of the stage received high fives and, from Wahlberg, sweaty hugs.

New Kids on the Block are still hangin’ tough after nearly four decades

As is tradition the quintet made a foray into the crowd, heading all the way up to the base of the Pine Knob lawn to perform “Block Party” and “Tonight” on five mini-stages. There was more confetti, from a gun the New Kids passed between them, and Wahlberg — who scored points by shouting out “the world champion (Michigan) Wolverines” — even hosted one youth onto his shoulders as he sang.

Back on the main stage the individual group members each took spotlight moments — even Jonathan Knight, who led a singing of “Happy Birthday” to a fan named Liz. Wahlberg and Wood slipped a bit of Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City” into their duet “Never Gonna Fall in Love Again,” while Jordan Knight and McIntyre exercised their falsettos during numbers such as “Please Don’t Go Girl,” the former throwing his shirt open during an emotive performance of “I’ll Be Loving You (Forever).”

The its kept coming — nearly three dozen songs total during the show, some in medleys — and by the time “Hangin’ Tough” morphed into Queen’s “We Will Rock You” and the show finished with the new “Better Days,” it was hard to imagine what more New Kids could have done to make it even better. Another win was certainly in the books, and when McIntyre promised “we’re gonna keep showing up” during one of his vamps, it was happy news for most everyone in the venue.

Clear your schedules, and plan to take the day off on Friday for the Celtics’ NBA Championship parade.

If you’ve forgotten the procedure in the six years since the City of Boston last hosted a championship parade, here’s a refresher: As many as 25 duck boats will begin their slow roll through the streets of Boston Friday at 11 a.m., starting in front of TD Garden on Causeway Street and ending on Boylston Street near the Hynes Convention Center.

Temperatures are expected to cool slightly Friday after a sweltering week in Boston , but it’s still going to be a hot one, so Mayor Michelle Wu reminded fans to stay hydrated.

The celebrations began Monday night after Boston blew out the Dallas Mavericks, 106-88, in Game 5 at TD Garden to win their NBA-record 18th title.

Celtics parade in Boston: What you need to know

• Date and time: Friday, June 21 beginning at 11 a.m.
• Location: The parade route will run from in front of TD Garden on Causeway Street, past City Hall Plaza and the Boston Common on Tremont Street, and end on Boylston Street by the Hynes Convention Center.
• Forecast: The temperature is expected to be in the mid-80s. Keep up with the latest forecast here .
• Getting there: Wu urged residents to take public transit on Friday as the MBTA will be increasing service on all transit lines. Parking on certain streets in the West End, Downtown, and Back Bay will be closed just after midnight on Friday morning, Wu said.
• Road closures: Streets along the parade route will be shut down to traffic starting at 9 a.m. Friday morning, Wu said. A list of closed street is available on the city’s website .

When is the Celtics parade?

The duck boats will depart from TD Garden Friday at 11 a.m. — the usual start time for the dozen other parades Boston Duck Tours has held between February of 2002 and February 2019 for the Patriots (six), Red Sox (four), Bruins (one), and Celtics (one).

Ed Davis, the former Boston Police Commissioner in the middle of the Title Town parade run that included the Celtics’ 2008 rolling rally, said that a morning start is a hedge against adult-beverage-fueled unruliness.

“From a police perspective, having something in the morning, it’s less likely to have violence associated with it because of alcohol consumption and things like that, so it just makes it a safer time,” said Davis.

Insider tip: Stake out your spot early. It’s best to get there a few hours before the parade begins if you want to get close to the action.

What is the route for the Celtics parade?

The parade will run from in front of TD Garden on Causeway Street, following Staniford Street to Cambridge Street, which turns into Tremont Street, and then along Boylston Street until the duck boats reach the Hynes Convention Center.

What’s the weather forecast for the Celtics parade?

According to Globe meteorologist Ken Mahan, this week’s heat wave is expected to lift just in time for Friday’s victory parade. The forecast is calling for partly cloudy skies with highs in the mid-80s and a heat index — how it actually feels outside — of 87. The humidity, however, may be high, making it feel extra warm and muggy.

Be sure to drink plenty of water, and pack your sunscreen if you’re planning to camp out along the route.

The city’s Office of Emergency Management will have misting tents ats City Hall Plaza and the Boston Common to help fans cool off.

Celtics parade rules and safety information

The celebrations on Monday night were relatively tame, as police arrested eight people, mostly for disorderly conduct. Boston police commissioner Michael Cox said there were no other major security or safety issues reported, which he hopes will be the case Friday as well.

“For the most part it was a good crowd,” Cox told the Globe Tuesday. “It’s always a little much when you have that many people, sometimes not everyone listens, but for the most part all our fans did well last night, hopefully they’ll continue to do well going into this. . . . We just want people to celebrate responsibly.”

Mayor Michelle Wu said Tuesday that fans should expect a heavy presence of police — including both uniformed and plainclothes officers — and first responders outside TD Garden and along the route.

“We are also encouraging everyone to celebrate safely, and look out for each other,” Wu said. “Although the weather will cool off slightly by Friday, this is our first heat wave of the year, and we are expecting temperatures in the mid- to high-nineties through Thursday.”

Cox reminded residents “there is no public drinking or use of marijuana on the route in any way.” He also said there should be no climbing or standing on mailboxes, bus vestibules, rooftops, or light polls. If fans do not get down from those areas when asked by police, they could be arrested, he said.

“Any disruptive behavior, fighting, things of that nature, will not be tolerated,” Cox said. “Let’s remember that this is a family-friendly event and we expect everybody to act accordingly.”

Prohibited items at the parade include alcoholic beverages; large bags, coolers, or glass containers; drones; weapons (or replicas of weapons); and fireworks.

During the Celtics’ 2008 parade, police made more than 20 arrests for a variety of reasons, ranging from disorderly conduct to assault and battery.

Road closures and T service during the Celtics parade

Streets along the parade route will be closed starting at 9 a.m. Parking will also be heavily restricted in the areas surrounding the parade route starting just after midnight on Friday. For a full list of street that will be shutdowns and parking restrictions, visit the city’s website.

Wu urged fans to use public transportation to get downtown. The MBTA will provide increased service and modified Commuter Rail schedules to accommodate the anticipated large crowds. For more information, visit the MBTA’s website.

How can you watch the Celtics parade at home?

If you can’t make it downtown for the parade but don’t want to miss out on the fun, you can watch the festivities on NBA TV and the NBA App.

NBC Sports Boston and NBC10 Boston will have live, all-day coverage of the celebrations beginning at 5 a.m. and running through the end of the festivities. Brian Scalabrine will host the coverage and will be joined by analysts, reporters, current and former players, and other special guests.

How many duck boats are involved?

Cindy Brown, CEO of Boston Duck Tours, said Friday that the company is expecting to deploy anywhere from the high teens to 25 vehicles to transport Celtics players, coaches, staffers, and assorted Green legends through throngs of fans along the route.

The company will run a full schedule-through the day before, and then spend the evening and overnight preparing the duck boats for a parade. That includes taking out the seats on the top deck and installing a platform high enough for the celebrants to be seen over the railing as the convoy slowly moves past the throngs of spectators.

Boston Duck Tours doesn’t get paid for the use of its boats and it doesn’t pay the city or the team to use its boats. The company will have to cancel pre-booked tours on the day of the parade and swallow a day’s worth of revenue that is “far into six figures,” said Brown.

“Obviously the marketing opportunity and the pure joy for our staff to be involved in something so important to the city is worth it,” said Brown.

Suite au décret du 9 juin 2024 du Président de la République portant dissolution de l’Assemblée Nationale sur la base de l’article 12 de la Constitution, des élections législatives anticipées seront organisées.

Le décret n° 2024-527 du 9 juin 2024 portant convocation des électeurs pour l’élection des députés à l’Assemblée nationale prévoit que le premier tour se tiendra le 29 juin 2024 pour le continent américain et les Caraïbes et le 30 juin 2024 pour le reste du monde. Le second tour se tiendra le 6 juillet 2024 pour le continent américain et les Caraïbes et le 7 juillet 2024 pour le reste du monde.

Les électeurs français résidant à l’étranger auront la possibilité de voter par internet . Le décret n° 2024-540 du 14 juin 2024 modifiant le décret n° 2024-527 du 9 juin 2024 portant convocation des électeurs pour l’élection des députés à l’Assemblée nationale prévoit que le portail de vote par internet sera ouvert du mardi 25 12h au jeudi 27 juin 2024 12h (heure de Paris) pour le 1er tour et du mercredi 3 juillet 12h au jeudi 4 juillet 2024 18h (heure de Paris).

Liste électorale consulaire

Conformément à l’article 4 du décret du 9 juin 2024, l’élection aura lieu à partir des listes électorales telles qu’arrêtées à la date de ce décret. Par conséquent, les inscriptions sur les listes électorales consulaires sont closes à cette date. Seules les inscriptions dérogatoires entrant dans l’un des cas de figure prévus à l’article L30 du code électoral pourront être traitées, et ce jusqu’au 10ème jour avant le premier tour (soit le 19 juin pour Amériques et Caraïbes et le 20 juin pour le reste du monde).

En cas de doute sur votre situation électorale, pensez à vérifier votre inscription électorale .

Modalités de vote

Pour voter lors des élections législatives à l’étranger, vous devez être Français, majeur et inscrit sur une liste électorale consulaire.

Pour cette élection, les électeurs disposent de trois modalités de vote : à l’urne , par procuration ou par internet .

Comment voter par internet ?

Il est recommandé d’utiliser des coordonnées propres à chaque électeur et d’éviter de renseigner des adresses électroniques et des numéros partagés auxquels pourraient avoir accès d’autres personnes que vous.

Vous aviez jusqu’au 16 juin 2024 minuit (heure de Paris) pour mettre à jour vos coordonnées.

Les identifiants et mots de passe personnels pour accéder au portail de vote, seront envoyés aux coordonnées renseignées à compter du 20 juin.

En cas de besoin, une cellule d’assistance est mise en place à compter du 20 juin par le Ministère de l’Europe et des Affaires étrangères pour vous aider.
