The Journeyman Coffee Co.

When you want something done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself..

For most cowboys, ranchers, and cattlemen coffee is a natural and essentail part of life. Coffee certainly is essentail to The Journeyman's life as well. The Journeyman faced a problem though, their wasn't any coffee on the market that quite got the job done. He wanted a strong and bold coffee that still had great flavor. So just like any other problem a cowbooy faces that no onbe is doing right, he decided to do it himself. He found some of the greatest coffee roasters in the country and went to work on creating strong coffee with great flavor. Thus the Journeyman Coffee Co was born.

Kristina’s journey in a Hotel General job at Accor

  • Career Growth
  • Diversity and Inclusion

We are excited to share the inspiring story of Kristina Matulevičienė, a seasoned hospitality professional with over two decades of experience at Accor.

From her early days in the public sector to her current role as Deputy General Manager at Novotel Warszawa Centrum, Kristina's journey is a testament to her dedication, passion, and the enriching world of hospitality.

In this interview, Kristina shares her insights, experiences, and the values that have guided her remarkable career. Join us as we explore her story as a Hotel General Manager and discover what makes hospitality such a fulfilling and dynamic industry.

Can you tell us about your early career in the hospitality industry?

“I have worked in hospitality my entire career, always related to tourism and hospitality. I started in the public sector and then moved to a travel agency where I organized trips to the Baltic.

This was my first experience dealing with foreign guests, and I loved being able to show them how we could organize programs for them.”

How did you begin your journey with Accor, and what was your first role?

“I joined my first Accor hotel, Novotel Vilnius Centre in Lithuania, 20 years ago. It was a pre-opening phase, so we had a new team and everyone was excited; that’s how my hotel career started.

It has been a long journey, and I’ve never worked for another international company. It feels great to be part of the group because people are at the heart of everything we do, and that’s why I’m still here.”

What is it about Accor’s company values that resonate with you?

“Everyone benefits from the company values; we live with them – in Accor and in our personal lives, and that’s what makes the place where we work great.

For some people, it could seem strange because today, people don’t stay in a company long. I’ve worked in two countries in four properties, which feels like working for four different companies without leaving. I have met many guests, colleagues, and cultures, and that is what energizes me.”

Could you elaborate on what the Heartist® culture means to you?

“For me, Heartist® is about being myself, being open-minded, smiling, honest, empathetic – everything that hospitality is. It’s about bringing your whole self to work and treating others with kindness and respect.”

What accomplishments are you most proud of in your career as a General Manager?

“I’m proud of everything I do every day. After 20 years, I might have gotten into a routine, but every day is different, and I love solving people’s problems.

I found projects close to my heart in Lithuania and Poland, especially as the Ibis Kaunas Centre was the first Ibis in Lithuania and my first time as a General Manager.

I’m proud of what we did as a team and of everybody I’ve worked with. I’m also proud of my team here; I learn from mentors, colleagues, and friends every day.”

How have your relationships with colleagues evolved over the years?

“I have made friends for the long term; even if I don’t see them every day, after 20 years I still have a good relationship with the people I worked with in the past. They are there, and if we meet, it feels as though it was just yesterday.”

What is your current role, and what does your day-to-day look like?

“Today, I am part of the Novotel Warszawa Centrum team. The hotel has 742 rooms and is among the biggest Accor hotels in Europe. Every day, we ensure the best possible hospitality for over a thousand guests, so my day is never boring.”

What advice would you give to young people considering a career in hospitality?

“Hospitality is a very good place to work, especially for young people. Be yourself, be open and honest, learn from your colleagues, and if you have a role you don’t like today, you can find another one in the same hotel.

The opportunities are huge. You meet new people all the time, and every day is different.”

Kristina Matulevičienė's journey in hospitality is a remarkable testament to the power of dedication, passion, and the supportive environment at Accor.

From her early days organizing trips to becoming a key leader at Novotel Warszawa Centrum, Kristina's story highlights the endless opportunities and enriching experiences the hospitality industry offers.

"Every team did not have a female presence" - Dallas Keuchel's wife Kelly Nash shares journey to her dream job as sports broadcaster

I t has always been a dream for Kelly Nash to become a female broadcaster in the sports industry. However, that road wasn't easy, but Nash made it. On her way, she also met her love, Dallas Keuchel, who is as passionate about baseball as she is.

The couple appeared on the popular "Diggin' Deep Podcast" and became candid about their journey to reach their destinations.

In some of the brief clips of that interview on Instagram, Nash talked about her inspirations behind choosing this profession.

"At the time, I finished college finally in 2010, every team did not have a female presence. It was Erin Andrews," Nash said. "She started with the Tampa Bay Lighting which I watched. She kind of set the tone to every team having a female on the broadcast."

Veteran sports reporter and leading female broadcaster Erin Andrews has worked with esteemed sports companies like FOX Sports and ESPN. She has provided commentary on the NFL and co-hosted TV shows like ABC's Dancing with the Stars (2014-19) and the CMT Music Awards (2015, 2016).

Nash looked up to her from a very young age. She followed her career and became a top female broadcaster for the MLB Network.

Kelly Nash's friends helped her to decide her career

Although Kelly Nash loved sports, she didn't plan to have a career in that industry. In the podcast, Nash mentioned her favorite news program, Good Morning America, hosted by Joan Lunden.

Since kindergarten, Nash wanted to become a news anchor like her idol, Lunden. However, her true ambition was confirmed with the help of her college friends.

"I was really into News. Loved sports. But I thought I was gonna be a news anchor. I love Joan Lunden. I love Good Morning America," Nash said.
"That was the goal my whole life since kindergarten. I wanna be a news anchor. But my friends were like, 'Kelly, all you watch is SportsCenter. You have to take this path.' … It was just the perfect fit at the right time."

On her journey to becoming a top female sports commentator, Nash met the Minnesota Twins ace, Dallas Keuchel, a baseball enthusiast. They started dating in 2019 and got engaged in 2021. The couple later tied the knot in 2022 and are happily married.

Around the World in Analogue: Life in the Green City, Zelenograd

Back in 1958, Zelenograd was a new town formed and planned by the Soviet Union, specialized to become the central hub of electronics, microelectronics and the computer industry, and it has become as such to this very day for Russia. Dubbed as the "Green City" in reference to the city's color and the symbolic animal, the squirrel, Zelenograd offers much more as it provides wide, open spaces where modernity and nature meet. Through the photographs of Lomographer Igor Silaev a.k.a. mahoney66 , we see a gorgeous glimpse of his life in the okrug in harmonious colors.

I think 2020 was very hard for everyone. There are various restrictions in the country. Due to some restrictions, I even had to change jobs. But it was only good because I had more free time. Thanks to this, I returned to photography!

I live in Zelenograd (Autonomous district of Moscow). Unlike the center of Moscow, it is more calm and measured, and there are a lot of trees in our city (Zelenograd literally translates as green city ). Thanks to this, you can feel a certain connection with nature here, as if you are in the village. But at the same time, some areas look like a metropolis. There is also a very unusual architecture in the style of post-Soviet modernism, it is very inspiring. That's probably why I love this city.

journey coffee jobs

First of all, I love my view from the window, because there are unreal sunsets. There are also many parks and alleys in the city, and in my opinion, they are much more picturesque than parks in the center of Moscow and not so mainstream. I would recommend Victory Park (not to be confused with the Park of the same name in Moscow) and the arboretum. From the Central parks, I would recommend VDNH, there is something to see and shoot.

Next to my house there is a Tanuki restaurant, where they prepare delicious Asian food. And from the bars I would recommend Hops & Coffee, it is located next to the train station. There are many varieties of author's beer and damn fine coffee!... and hot! If we talk about the center, then be sure to visit the cafe PEOPLE as PEOPLE -- this is a pleasant place where you can eat delicious and inexpensive food.

journey coffee jobs

I Advise you to come to Moscow in the middle of summer, at this time there are the most comfortable weather conditions and you can walk all day long. Visit as many attractions and parks as possible, take a ride in the Moscow metro and take as much film with you as possible because here it is much more expensive! If you still need a film, then I recommend Perspektivalab . They have a good selection of films and the price is reasonable.

I like to think about the first time I went to Sokolniki Park with my girlfriend. That day, I was terribly stung by my new sneakers, but even that didn't spoil this beautiful day. We walked all day and took a lot of pictures. If you are in Moscow, be sure to go to Sokolniki Park!
