Good times. Nice experience. Little intense.
Our guide, Cathal, was excellent. He is personable, caring about all guests experience and full of facts about history. He’s definitely an asset to your company. My only critiques are these: 1. Bus door malfunctioned multiple times daily by not opening or closing. The potential for injury/death in the event of an auto accident was very real. 2. The microphone did not work so we had a week’s ride without an ongoing commentary of what we were seeing in real time. That defeats the purpose of a tour rather than driving oneself. Cathal indicated that he reported it to the company and someone was supposed to come check the bus after our first day but no one ever came to repair it. 3. Air conditioning did not always work.

The guide were very good at getting us to events tour and making the trip as smooth as possible
Really wish they spelled out that the Ireland trip is just a portion of a larger trip - most of the people have already travelled together for two weeks, so that was kinda awkward. Great trip for 18-24 year old Australians.

Highlights galore and more!
Allie was such a rockstar tour guide! She has such a depth of experience and passion for her homeland that she is infectious!! I have never had such a deep learning experience, and I have traveled a fair bit! But really, Ireland sells itself!

Rabbie’s Small Group Tours

Rabbie’s Small Group Tours

  • Excellent - 254 reviews for Ireland tours
Overall a good experience. The guide was informative and shared a lot about Ireland history and the sights we went to. The sound on the bus wasn't great-he had a mic on a rod and so if he moved his head you couldn't hear very well. We had another Rabie's trip and the driver had a mic 'head-band' type thing that was MUCH MUCH better.
Dan was an amazing tour guide! He is very knowledgeable and thoughtful and well organized. He made everyone feel comfortable and included and even treated us to a drink! My tour was very enjoyable and I got to see everything I wanted to and more. I would definitely book again.

Loved Derment and he tried very hard to help people . Great personality . Good driver - organised our Group chat which bonded us well - a few accoms I think below the standard - please can we ask host to supply a top sheet not just quilt as it was too hot and little air in most rooms . Anne was so brilliant on our day with her and David a delight .David great driver too. Lovely meeting you Mick and appreciate your interest in our response -
On time fabulous driver and guide. Very good accommodation. We were very well informed and looked after.

Globus

  • Excellent - 74,896 reviews for Ireland tours
Had to call Globus three times before trip to get the final travel packet. Each time I called ,was told that someone would take care of this. Bus driver Glenn and tour guide Clive were great. Mic on bus kept cutting out and the people in the back of the bus could not hear. Would have like to have spent a day in Belfast and seen the Titanic museum ,All that Belfast was just a bathroom break and all I saw of Belfast was the washroom inside City Hall. If we had spent a day in Belfast I, wouldn't been so tried by the time we got to Scotland. Also would have like to have another in York. When we returned to London, somewhere from the time the bus arrived at the hotel till they unloaded the bags and put them on the luggage cart and bought them to the room, the porter broke my bag and the wheel came off. When I reported this to the hotel was told " these things happen", too bad, so sad " have your insurance company buy you a new bag". I had to try to get back home with a big with three wheel.
More time in Belfast

We felt Lee Jones was beyond exceptional as our tour guide. He was kind, cheery, helpful, knowledgeable, punctual, and was a sheer joy to have as a guide to our little "family" outing! I would trust him to make the best of any situation encountered on a tour to deliver you the best travel experience! I would go out of my way to book a tour with him again!! He is worth his weight in gold - Irish lucky gold!
A very enjoyable tour. Anthony was a great guide, very knowledgeable and had a lot of stories to tell. I would have liked to had a couple more group dinners

Europamundo

  • Good - 3,125 reviews for Ireland tours
1. Very first day of check-in at our first hotel no sign of our tour guide, no notice at the front desk and when we asked the hotel staff at the front desk if they had any information and they did not. We finally received information for the next morning, after 10pm at night from hotel staff, not tour guide. 2. It is a bilingual tour, I do not know a second language and I do not know how hard it is to translate, but it seemed like more time was spent with the Spanish translation. 3. Very fast paced tour, just because it is listed on the itinerary does not mean you will actually see it in person - might be from a bus window. 4. Not enough time in the towns/cities or stopping in a town/city and the stores/restaurants were not open or going to close 5. Some rooms were not central to the town/city, making it hard or not able to explore after you were done with your tour.
Good trip and very interested on the site visited

Insight Vacations

  • Excellent - 639 reviews for Ireland tours
Our tour of the United Kingdom proved to be the best way to spend a vacation. It was both entertaining and educational. Our experiences will always be fondly remembered forever.
My first Insight Tour and it was amazing. Scenic tour of the beautiful countryside, towns, and historic sites of England, Scotland, Wales, and Republic of Ireland. Our Travel Director, Greg, was very professional, knowledgeable of the history, culture, food, music, and local 'celebrities'. Greg and our driver (Arthur - the best) worked together as a team, making our trip enjoyable, memorable, and fun. Always courteous, respectful, and conscientious of our time, safety, and well-being. Good job!

  • Excellent - 22 reviews for Ireland tours
We had an amazing experience travelling Ireland. Our tour guides were very entertaining and helpful, and our fellow travellers were lots of fun to hang out with. We saw so much, but would love to back again and see even more. RIT picked experiences that really helped us understand Irish history and culture so much better than before. It is a truly stunning county visually, and people there so fun and helpful.
Starting with our tour driver's, Rob and John, they were a major part of the success of this tour. Friendly, knowledgeable and kind, both men made each part of the journey relaxed, safe and enjoyable. The destinations of our tour were perfect...from historic sites to natural beauty spots, everything was well chosen and well-organized for us. The fun spots along the way, distilleries, pubs, Celtic shows, sheepdog displays and walking tours, were wonderful showcasing Ireland. Thank you for making it all easy, fun and rewarding.

The communication/paperwork could use a little fine tuning, but overall the value was definitely there. This tour brings you through absolutely spectacular areas of Ireland, with enough downtime to not feel too rushed. The hotels/food was nicer than we expected for the price.
Just finished this great tour of Ireland with Indus Travel. Eddie, the tour bus driver, and Marian, our tour guide, were amazing. Great info about the areas we traveled, history and local stories.

I'm so happy I found Nordic Visitor! Our 10-day self-drive tour of Ireland made our trip feel like a carefree vacation. The accommodation were outstanding, and finding ourselves within walking distance of city centres was wonderful. Our hotels/inns offered lovely breakfasts and some had excellent evening dining on-site. The Nordic Visitor travel guide was a pleasure to follow, filled with many choices to plan our daily excursions. Nordic Visitor is highly professional and thorough, from website to bookings. We appreciate all the planning Chris put into creating a fantastic itinerary for us!

Frequently Asked Questions About Ireland

In case you have a few questions before booking your Ireland vacation, we’ve collected and answered the most important ones for your peace of mind. You can also find more detailed answers and travel tips in our Ireland Travel Guide . Or, if you want to know more about booking and payment details, check out our FAQ page .

1. What is Ireland known for?

The Emerald Isle is known world-wide thanks to its beauty, culture and history. People around the globe celebrate St Patrick’s Day, listen to Irish music, drink Guinness beer and read Irish literature. Let’s not forget about its natural beauty, stunning coastlines and mystical castles.

Read more cool things about Ireland on our experts' blog.

2. What's the weather like in Ireland?

The weather conditions in Ireland can change quickly and often in all regions of the country. Although the climate isn’t extreme, the locals are fond of saying that you can experience all four seasons in a day. Make sure to dress the part and nothing will stop you from enjoying your trip!

3. How many castles are in Ireland?

From grand historic castles to atmospheric ruins, there are castles dotted all over Ireland. Estimated at over 30,000 there are too many to visit during your tour. For this reason, we’ve compiled our 15 favourite Irish castles in this blog so you can decide which ones you want to see.

4. What language is spoken in Ireland?

English and Irish (Gaelic) are the two main languages of the Republic of Ireland. However, the Gaelic-speaking Irish are bilingual, so you won’t need a language book. You may encounter some signs in Gaelic throughout your tour, but you can check out our wee guide to learn more .

5. What currency is used in Ireland?

The Republic of Ireland is part of the European Union and uses the Euro (€, EUR) as currency. In Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom, the currency is the Pound sterling (£, GBP). Find out more in our guide about Ireland’s currency and money .

6. Is Ireland a safe place?

Ireland is a very safe place to visit! It has recently been ranked amongst the 15 safest countries in the world. As in other European countries, pickpocketing and petty theft can occasionally occur in cities, but the risk of encountering crime in the rural areas is very low.

7. What is the capital of Ireland?

Dublin is the capital of the Republic of Ireland and Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland. All our Ireland tours start from Dublin. If you fly into a different Irish city, get in touch so we can book you a private transfer to Dublin or customise your tour to start from a different location.

8. Do you need a visa to go to Ireland?

EU or EEA citizens, as well as those carrying passports from the UK, Switzerland, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, do not need visas for short-term travel in Ireland. If you are visiting from another country, please check the Irish Government website to see if you need a visa and how to apply.

9. Can I choose my arrival date?

Yes, you can. Our Ireland tours can start on any day between April and October. When you’ve picked your favourite package and you’re ready to book, simply pick a date in the calendar that suits you best. Your personal travel consultant will then get in touch to confirm your details.

10. When should I book my flights?

We recommend that you do not organise flights until we have confirmed your package. Once you book your tour with us, one of our travel agents will contact you within two working days with more details about your arrangements. You can then book your flights with the confirmed start date of your tour.

11. What is there to do in Ireland?

There is much to explore in Ireland. We believe one of our adventures tours of Ireland will allow you to see the Emerald Isle at its best and enjoy its highlights.

Some must-do activities in Ireland include:

  • Discovering the capital, Dublin , from where you can take day trips to nearby attractions.
  • Walking along the impressive Cliffs of Moher .
  • Driving the Wild Atlantic Way to see the stunning coastline.
  • Tasting the Irish flavour with some local food, whiskey and beer.
  • Heading to Northern Ireland to visit Belfast and the Giant’s Causeway .
  • Exploring the gems and villages along the Ring of Kerry .
  • Learning about your Irish heritage.

You can read about some of our favourite places in Ireland here .

12. Can you see the northern lights in Ireland?

While it is technically possible to sometimes see the northern lights from Ireland (especially in County Donegal, thanks to its northerly location and lack of light pollution), it’s not the ideal location to do so.

Why not head inside the Arctic Circle instead? You have a higher chance to spot the northern lights in Iceland or see them during an  aurora safari in northern Norway .

13. How much can I customise my tour?

When creating packages, our tour operators aim to show our visitors the very best of Ireland. But we understand everyone’s dreams are different. Should there be anything in particular you’re keen to see, or if you want to stay longer to explore more of Ireland, simply get in touch so we can help arrange it all for you.

14. When is the best time to visit Ireland?

For the best weather and longer daylight hours, we recommend visiting between April and October. At this time, attractions also have longer opening hours meaning you can make the most of your tour! Read more about the best time to visit Ireland depending on your interests .

15. What should I pack for my trip?

The Irish weather can be variable and unpredictable, even between April and October. Regardless of the weather, this is what we recommend packing for your trip to Ireland:

  • Light and waterproof layers, including a rain jacket
  • Light gloves
  • Your camera!
  • Binoculars for wildlife and bird watchers
  • A pair of walking shoes (or boots) if you intend on going for coastal walks

Read more in our packing guide .

16. How do you get from Ireland to Scotland?

While Ireland is an island, you can easily drive or take a bus to Northern Ireland (which is part of the UK). From there, you can hop on the ferry to the south of Scotland. For the best of both, visit Scotland and Ireland in one tour. Plan your ideal trip to the Celtic nations with this handy guide .

17. What does craic mean in Ireland?

When you visit Ireland, you may hear the word ‘craic’ (pronounced crack) or the expression ‘What’s the craic?’ from the locals. It’s a popular Irish word meaning ‘enjoyable time’. It can also mean fun and entertainment.

Camino Groups

default-logo

Camino Groups is an Irish licensed travel agency that offers tours to the Camino De Santiago for individuals, schools and groups.

Welcome to Camino Groups!

The Camino de Santiago has never been as popular!

Camino Groups is a licensed and bonded Irish travel agency – so you know that your booking is protected with us. We also aim to provide you with the best prices and service you will find from any Camino operator.

From 2024, Camino Groups is now focussing on group tours (8+ people) – we aim to offer the best value and service of any Camino company in Ireland for groups if any size.

So what happens to individuals and the bookings for less than 8 people?

From next year (2025), we are going to offer an enhanced programme of group trips; across the busy months of April, May, June, September and October, we will have 2-3 group Camino trips each month across a variety of routes. so there will be something there for most people.

The best way to get first notice on our group tours is to be included on our mailing list – just ask us to include you on that. It’s the only way to ensure you don’t lose out when a group is booked out!

The travel planes of thousands of holiday makers across Europe including people in Ireland are in disarray following the collapse of a leading German tour operator earlier this week.

FTI, which is the third largest tourism operator in Germany with around 200 subsidiaries, shocked the leisure travel sector when went into liquidation on Monday after a refinancing deal collapsed.

The initial filing involved FTI’s tour operator brand, but it warned that “corresponding applications will be filed for other group companies”.

One of its subsidiaries is the UK-based YouTravel which supplies accommodation to multiple travel agents in Ireland as well as online travel agents which have a significant footprint here, including LoveHolidays.

Housing Commission’s analysis of the crisis paints a mammoth challenge but falls down on one glaring contradiction

All accommodation bookings made via YouTravel until later this month have been cancelled while customers already in destinations overseas are being asked to pay the hotel directly for their stay.

In a statement on its website, YouTravel said that “it goes without saying that this has an impact on Youtravel.com. For arrivals until June 14th (inclusive), we have taken to the decision to cancel to avoid guests arriving and not having a booking or being asked to pay again whilst we navigate through these challenging times.”

The UK travel company LoveHolidays which does a significant amount of business in the Republic, posted an update on its website which said that “a very small portion of our customers’ accommodation arrangements will be affected. However, we’re working hard to honour these bookings with other suppliers to minimise disruption to any holidays.”

It advised people with upcoming holidays that “there is nothing you need to do. Our team is working hard to honour any impacted bookings with another partner to make sure your holiday goes ahead as seamlessly as possible.”

Paul Hackett of Irish-based online travel agency Click&Go said his staff had been “been working flat out” since Tuesday to secure all bookings.

“We have been making payments direct to hotels where the hotel says they need payment from us or they seek payment direct from the customer,” he said.

He added that there was a team of people working on the issue and “to date our clients are all fine. We are rebooking at extra costs and not passing that on, we are paying hotels direct, and we are doing all we can to minimise the impact on our customers”.

He said one customer, who had not yet travelled had to move to a different hotel, 700m from the original hotel as the booking was cancelled by YouTravel and when Click&Go went to reconfirm it, the hotel had resold the room.

“Any other bookings we have are re-protected and we absorbed the additional cost,” he said.

In response to queries from The Irish Times a spokesman from the Irish Aviation Authority said that its role in relation to customers of travel agents and tour operators “only takes effect when an entity we licence collapses. We do not licence FTI.”

He said that while FTI “may be a supplier to some entities we licence, it is for the seller of the package to resolve in the first instance or if the seller does not do so it would be for the CCPC to engage. We would only have a role if an entity collapsed because of the financial impact of the FTI collapse.”

Belgian and Dutch tour operators enjoy tour of Wicklow

F ifteen Belgian and Dutch tour operators and travel agents have been visiting Wicklow as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

The aim of the visit was to educate and enthuse the travel professionals about some of the many great things to see and do in Ireland’s Ancient East, so they are better equipped to sell the destination to their clients when they return home.

The group’s itinerary included Powerscourt Estate, Glendalough and Russborough House. During their time here they stayed at Tulfarris Hotel and Golf Resort.

Karen van der Horst, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Northern Europe, said: “We were delighted to invite this group of Belgian and Dutch tour operators and travel agents to explore Ireland’s Ancient East – and experience our amazing scenery, activities and hospitality for themselves.”

Election latest: D-Day blunder hasn't lost election, minister insists; Tories vow to scrap ULEZ expansion

The latest updates from the general election campaign, as the transport secretary denies Rishi Sunak's decision to leave D-Day commemoration events early will cost the Tories the election and the Conservatives promise a "backing drivers" bill.

Nigel Farage is the people's pick to take over from Rishi Sunak as leader of the Conservatives if Labour wins the election, according to a new poll.

The poll of 2,000 people showed 19% think Mr Farage should take over from Mr Sunak.

The poll offered six other names - Penny Mordaunt (15%), James Cleverly (6%), Kemi Badenoch (5%), Suella Braverman (4%), Priti Patel (2%) and Robert Jenrick (1%).

However, the majority of those surveyed in the poll for The Independent were stumped as to who should take the Tories' top job - 48% said they did not know who should replace Mr Sunak.

The poll also found that 45% of all voters believe Labour will win the next two elections, with just 19% disagreeing.

But the poll said 49% of those surveyed believe the main reason for a Labour victory would be because of "Tory failures".

Shadow business secretary Jonathan Reynolds denies Labour is changing so much it's turning its back on unions.

He was speaking to Sky News this morning after it emerged last night that Unite, the country's biggest union and the Labour Party's biggest donor, did not endorse its manifesto due to concerns about fire and rehire and the banning of new oil and gas licences.

Mr Reynolds says it was "legitimate" for Unite to voice concerns over jobs linked to North Sea oil, but said Labour had a plan to get the transition right and make it economically beneficial.

"North Sea oil and gas production will be a part of the country's energy mix and energy future right up until 2050," he says.

Speaking to the "pro-worker" part of the manifesto, he says: "There'll be more secure work. Flexibility will not be one-sided.

"We will make sure not only that the economy is growing more strongly, but people feel the benefits of that."

Senior Tories can already be seen vying for the top job in the party during election campaigning, shadow business secretary Jonathan Reynolds tells Sky News.

He joined us this morning and said if it wasn't for the general election, he thinks Rishi Sunak would be facing a no confidence vote from his party.

"You can see there is a leadership election already under way in the Conservative Party," he says.

That was clear when Penny Mourdant came out swinging in last night's TV debate, when she was "absolutely unequivocal" in condemning the prime minister for leaving the D-Day ceremonies early, Mr Reynolds says.

We've been speaking to Transport Secretary Mark Harper this morning.

Unsurprisingly, he is pushed on the prime minister leaving D-Day events early on Thursday.

He repeats that it was right for Rishi Sunak to apologise for his premature departure from Normandy - and that it was a mistake for him to exit in such a fashion.

Asked if this is the moment the Conservatives have "definitely lost this election", Mr Harper says: "No - I don't agree with that."

Pushed on whether the Conservatives' manifesto launch - expected next week - will save the campaign, Mr Harper says he hopes the document will "help frame the choice for people that we've already set out".

Mr Harper was also asked about the Conservatives' policy announcement today - their pledge to reverse the expansion of the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in London.

He said the expansion was motivated by money and not air quality - adding that parts of outer London had voted against Mr Khan to register their opposition.

Mr Khan won a record third term as mayor in this year's race, beating the Conservatives' Susan Hall by a quarter of a million votes.

By  Jennifer Scott , political reporter

The Conservatives have pledged to scrap the controversial expansion of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in London if they stay in power after the general election.

The party also promises local referendums on "aggressive" schemes like 20mph zones and Low Traffic Neighbourhoods.

The Tories said reversing the policy of London mayor Sadiq Khan would form part of a new "backing drivers bill" that would stop the "war" their rivals had "launched" on motorists.

But Labour accuses their rivals of having an "abysmal record" on drivers.

Good morning!

We're approaching the end of the second full week of the fight for all 650 parliamentary seats - and the keys to Number 10.

Political parties are spreading out across the country to get their message out ahead of polling day on 4 July.

Here's what you need to know:

  • The Tories  have pledged to scrap the ULEZ expansion in a "backing drivers bill" if they stay in power. The party also promises local referendums on "aggressive" schemes like 20mph zones and Low Traffic Neighbourhoods. They will be campaigning in the North East this morning before heading to Yorkshire in the afternoon.
  • Shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves  will be on the campaign trail for Labour in the South East while Sir Keir Starmer will be out in London;
  • The D-Day row rumbles on, as a poll finds the majority of Britons think Rishi Sunak's decision to leave commemorations before they ended was unacceptable;
  • A snap poll found Nigel Farage came out on top in last night's TV debate between leading figures from the seven main parties - while viewers thought Penny Mourdant would be a better PM than Sunak;

This morning's guests will be:

  • Transport secretary Mark Harper joined us at 7.15am;
  • Shadow business secretary Jonathan Reynolds at 8.15am;
  • SNP leader John Swinney at 11.15am;

Stick with us for all the latest political news throughout the day.

Snap findings from a More in Common poll of more than 1,000 viewers of last night's BBC debate suggest Nigel Farage came out on top.

According to the poll results , the audience is most likely to think Reform UK's leader won, with 25% picking him.

Labour's deputy leader Angela Rayner comes in second with 19%.

Just 7% thought Tory Penny Mordaunt won, but 32% believe she'd be a better prime minister than Rishi Sunak - with 12% picking him.

Full Results

  • Nigel Farage - 25%
  • Angela Rayner - 19%
  • None of the above - 14%
  • Carla Denyer - 11%
  • Stephen Flynn - 10%
  • Penny Mordaunt - 7%
  • Daisy Cooper - 5%
  • Rhun ap Iowerth - 2%
  • Don’t know - 8%

Almost half (47%) of 2019 Tory voters watching the debate thought that Mr Farage won the debate, while Ms Rayner leads among 2019 Labour and Lib Dem voters who tuned in.

The poll also shows viewers are most likely to think the SNP's Stephen Flynn (net +31), the Green Party's Carla Denyer (net +31) and the Lib Dem's Daisy Cooper (+30) did well in the debate.

Reform's original candidate for Clacton will stand as an independent against Nigel Farage in the upcoming general election.

Anthony Mack quit Reform after he was replaced by Mr Farage earlier this week to vie for the seat in Essex.

But that hasn't stopped him from trying to win there.

Mr Mack is expected to hold a press conference later today.

Olympic athletes, top musicians and an ex-soap actor are among those standing to become members of parliament at the general election.

The deadline for candidates to submit their nominations passed earlier today.

Notable names on the list include:

  • Blur drummer Dave Rowntree, Labour, Mid Sussex
  • Double Olympic gold medal rower James Cracknell, Conservative, Colchester
  • Rock star Tom Gray from the band Gomez, Labour, Brighton Pavilion
  • Former Coronation Street actor Marc Anwar, independent, Bury North
  • Gogglebox's Josh Tapper, Labour, Hertfordshire
  • Olympian Marc Jenkins, Conservative, Gower

Count Binface has announced he will stand against Rishi Sunak in his Richmond and Northallerton constituency.

Speaking on his podcast, Trash Talk, Binface said it would be like "Fury vs Usyk times a billion" in the July 4 election.

"That's right, I am here right now in Richmond and Northallerton and I can announce that I will be taking on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in electoral combat on July 4.

"You shirked D-Day Rishi, you can't miss the B-Day.

"That's right. Binface vs Sunak is going to be Fury vs Usyk times a billion. Bring it on."

Binface recently came 11th in the London Mayoral Elections, where he earned 24,260 votes.
