The 10 Most Beautiful Moments Of BTS’ Love Yourself Tour

Big Hit Entertainment

The concept of Post-Concert Depression has often been used to describe the emotional comedown of seeing a live show, as the euphoria wears off and the reality of normal, everyday life sets in. But for the 40,000 fans who witnessed BTS ’ historic concert at Citi Field on Saturday night (October 6), a different emotion comes to mind: hope.

BTS ended the North American leg of their Love Yourself tour at the packed Queens stadium, a momentous first for a Korean act. And it was truly a night of celebration and reflection for the chart-topping group and their diverse fans (called ARMY). "This is only the beginning of our most beautiful moment in life," leader and rapper RM reminded the extremely amped crowd after kicking things off with the anthemic " Idol ," the group’s most recent, and most rambunctious, single.

Since making their debut in 2013, the seven members of BTS — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook — have continued to defy the odds; shattering YouTube records, debuting atop the Billboard 200 twice , and revolutionizing the globalization of Korean music.

Seeing them live in concert, it's easy to see why.

With their Love Yourself tour, BTS have created an experience so captivating, so inclusive, and so visually stunning that it’s cemented the boy band as one of the most vital acts in pop music today. The two-and-a-half hour set featured highlights from the group’s Love Yourself era — and one fire medley (no pun intended) — weaving together an intimate narrative of love and acceptance through a mix of musical genres, crisp choreographies, colorful visuals, and undeniable charm.

Blame it on the chorus of voices singing "you've shown me I have reasons I should love myself" while hues of pinks and purples lit up the stadium, their echoes filling the air like a warm embrace. Or the way BTS themselves basked in the enormity of the moment, delivering fan service and finger hearts with complete sincerity. (Jimin was even moved to tears.) But it was impossible to leave Citi Field and not feel energized by it all.

BTS ask their fans to look inward, to take their universal message and reflect on their own state of being — to know that just because you don't love yourself today doesn't mean you can't love yourself tomorrow. In doing so, they acknowledge that a beautiful moment in life isn't just one moment, but rather a series of moments. So let's take a look at some of the most beautiful moments of the Love Yourself tour:

J-Hope set the mood

Bangtan's resident hype man and mood-maker, J-Hope, set the night off right with an exuberant performance of "Trivia 起: Just Dance." The funky, future bass track was the first of the night's solo stages and therefore had a lot to accomplish, maintaining the energy of the opener while also establishing the rapper as a dynamic force unto himself. Oh, and he can really bust a move.

Jungkook kept the party going

Youngest member Jungkook delivered a playful solo stage with "Euphoria," a dreamy pop song that really should have been a single with its radio-friendly EDM hook. Co-written by RM, the track is a bubbly ode to young love, and it was a confident showcase for Jungkook, who served vocals and choreography with staggering bravado.

Jimin made everyone swoon

"Serendipity," Jimin’s soft R&B ballad, put the performer’s fluid duality on full display, as he toed the line between sweet and sensual — his airy, ethereal vocals grounded by the sharp precision of his PG-13 moves.

RM channeled his idols

There’s something effortless about RM. His flow. His swagger. His unflappable leadership. It’s how he can get a crowd of thousands to their feet with nothing but a mic. As the group’s main rapper, RM's deep, easy flow and clever wordplay have become some of the most distinct aspects of the group's sonic DNA. And with "Trivia 承: Love," RM delivered both — a hype hip-hop track with deep emotional resonance, not unlike the work of his New York heroes. "The music born here changed my life," he said, "made me dream, and gave me a new life."

V's gravitational pull

BTS doesn’t have a central figure, but as a performer, V comes close. The vocalist has the ability to seduce an entire crowd with a single look. During his sultry performance of "Singularity," even the most subtle movements — a caress here, a glance there — were met with awe and fervent screams. It's this intimate relationship with the camera that makes him so fascinating to watch, his charisma pulling fans into his magnetic field one eyebrow quirk at a time.

Suga had something to prove

Known for his slick tongue technology , lead rapper and producer Suga is a bit of a chameleon. Case in point: "Trivia 轉: Seesaw," a standout performance that saw the rapper trade in his signature aggressive style for a melodic R&B flow, cool choreography, and a vibey disco beat. And with it, the complex performer turned his perceived weaknesses — his vocal ability and dancing prowess — into strengths before attacking the crowd with his electric verse in "Tear."

Jin's vocal talents soared

Fan chants are a typical part of the live experience in K-pop. But eldest member Jin received a special distinction on Saturday night, becoming the only member to inspire his own fan chant. As Jin sat behind the piano to deliver the opening verse of "Epiphany," a chorus of "KIM SEOKJIN" reverberated throughout the stadium. And the early praise proved to be well-earned. The crystalline pop-ballad was a sneaky show-stopper, with Jin's powerhouse vocals soaring into the night sky.

Jin might not be the group's flashiest member, but that's OK; Mr. Worldwide Handsome doesn't need much to stun everyone into silence.

The medley set the stadium ablaze

BTS may be one of the biggest acts in music at the moment, but Bangtan haven't forgotten their humble beginnings. The mid-show medley of "Boyz With Fun," "Attack On Bangtan," "Fire," "Baepsae," and "Dope" had the crowd on their feet as the group attacked the fan-favorite tracks with personality and precision.

Suga may or may not have spoiled their 2019 plans

Leave it to Suga to boast about the group's future accomplishments before they've even happened yet. During the members' final farewells to the crowd, the rapper assured fans that Citi Field was "just the beginning," before alluding to a potential U.S. stadium tour in 2019. "Maybe next year... I’ll leave that up to your guys’ imagination. For us, we dreamed a dream and you guys imagined it, and now we're here. Let’s see each other next year." That sounds promising.

RM brought the message home

What does it mean to love yourself? And more importantly, where does one even start? According to RM, these are questions no one has the answers to. The process of loving yourself is a journey that never really ends, but through music and through moments of togetherness, the answer becomes a little clearer.

"Through this Love Yourself tour, I am finding how to love myself," RM said as he addressed the crowd at Citi Field for the final time. "I didn’t know anything about loving myself, but you guys taught me through your eyes, through your love, through your tweets, through your words — you guys taught me, and I started to love myself. ... So I want to say one thing: Please use me, please use BTS, to love yourself."

Looking out at the sea of smiling faces in the crowd — faces of all ages and ethnicities, from all walks of life — there's hope that they will.

BTS Talks About Wrapping Up

BTS Talks About Wrapping Up "Love Yourself" Series, Their Solo Tracks, And "IDOL" Choreography

BTS  shared stories behind their latest album “Love Yourself: Answer”!

On August 29, BTS held a V Live broadcast titled, “Bangtan News: Behind the Answer.” Jungkook said, “We have reached the finale with ‘Answer.’ We started in March 2016 and we concluded it after two years and five months. I feel proud and sad. We all tried our best, so I think we created a meaningful album. I hope ARMY feels the same way about the album.”

RM spoke about the “Love Yourself” tour that kicked off at the Seoul Olympic Stadium on August 25 and 26. “I think I was really excited on the first day,” said the BTS leader. “Thankfully, it didn’t rain and it ended successfully. ARMYs came with the fan chants memorized and sang along to the lyrics, so I enjoyed the concert without any time to be nervous. The energy of the concert still hasn’t gone away. ARMYs, you guys are the best.”

Describing his solo track “Trivia: Just Dance,” J-Hope said, “It’s a really fun song. I included the meaning that no matter what others say, I’m myself and I love myself. It sounds both Korean and global.”

Bringing up Jin’s performance for his solo track “Epiphany,” Jimin asked, “I’ve never seen you play the piano before. When did you practice?” Jin revealed that he learned the piano for the first time for the concert while practicing with one of the agency’s composers.

He said, “I also recorded a piano practice video. I began practicing two to three weeks before the concert.” Jimin added, “Jin said that he couldn’t pretend to play the piano to the fans.”

About his solo track “Serendipity,” Jimin said with a smile, “Khalid said he liked it this morning. The lyrics and emotions of the song feel fresh. It’s charming and sweet. I hope you’ll listen to it when you think of me.” He then showed the choreography and was joined by V and Jungkook.

RM described his solo track “Trivia: Love.” He said, “I included the beauty of the Korean language, and it’s a song for fan chants. I think it’ll be nice if everyone sang along.”

V said, “I wonder if ‘Singularity’ is the most dramatic song out of all of the members’ solo tracks. I showed a solo performance. Did it look cool?”

About his solo track “Trivia: Seesaw,” Suga explained, “I showed a part of me that I had kept hidden. After the album release, many people reacted by saying, ‘He’s good at singing.’ At the concert, people said, ‘He can dance.’ I wrote it while thinking about getting No. 1 on a music chart.” He then made everyone laugh by adding, “Right now, if I search for ‘Seesaw,’ my song doesn’t come up right away, so I’m unable to get No. 1.”

The broadcast then aired a behind-the-scenes video of BTS filming the MV for their latest title track “ IDOL ,” where fans got to see the colorful set and elaborate choreography.

Suga commented, “I can say that this is our most difficult choreography.” Jin added, “I look forward to seeing how far BTS’s choreography will go.” Jimin said, “It’s a dance that uses up a lot of energy, so it made me wonder if performing this live would be possible. But isn’t it our duty to practice and make a live performance possible?”

V added, “The choreography this time is epic. I hope you’ll like it a lot.” Despite being busy on the set, the members gathered together to take selfies and had fun while filming.

After the video, BTS had fun playing games and answering quizzes together. At the end of the broadcast, Jimin stated, “We always did a live broadcast before the album release, so we couldn’t sing the songs for you. But this time, we’re doing a live broadcast after the album release, so I liked that we could comfortably talk more [about the songs].”

V added, “We’ll be able to see you through music show promotions, so please wait a little. ARMY, I purple you.”

BTS ended the broadcast by dancing to “IDOL” together and said goodbye to their fans. Following a week of promoting their newest tracks on music shows, the group will be heading around the globe for their concert tour.

A special video to mark their sixth anniversary

BTS

To celebrate their sixth anniversary this month, BTS member Jimin has released a short but sweet clip giving a behind-the-scenes look of the group’s latest tour.

In Jimin’s video, which is dedicated to BTS’ devoted fanbase – aka ARMYs – the group are seen preparing for their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour, Billboard notes. They goof off during soundchecks in empty stadiums, engage with fans during special pre-show events and take plenty of selfie videos.

The nearly two-minute-long video, soundtracked by their song ‘Answer: Love Myself’ and adorned with cutesy effects and animations, ends with a message from Jimin to ARMYs: “Thank u, and I’ll never forget it.”

The video comes as part of Festa, an annual celebration BTS hold in June, commemorating their founding with new songs, content and events for their fans. Member Jin released his first  solo song, “Tonight” , as part of Festa earlier this month.

His short behind-the-scenes clip follows a much longer video BTS released yesterday. In a discussion dubbed “Bangtan Attic”, the group sit together for a wide-ranging conversation over food and drink, answering random questions picked from a basket.

On April 26, 2018, Big Hit Entertainment released a trailer on their official YouTube channel announcing an upcoming world tour. The video revealed an initial schedule of 22 concerts across 11 cities, spanning Seoul to California, Ontario to London, Amsterdam to Paris, with more dates and venues said to be awaiting confirmation. The information was also posted on Big Hit's official website and across all their official social media platforms as well. After news of the world tour broke, multiple hashtags trended worldwide on social media, including the tour's namesake tag – #LOVE_YOURSELF, highlighting the level of anticipation surrounding the event.

Before the international leg of the tour started, Big Hit announced BTS wasn't going to give interviews during the tour, during their American leg they made a couple of exceptions adding two schedules. The first one a conversation with the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles where the group reflected in the message they want to give through music on September 10 and a performance in the popular TV show America's Got Talent thanks to an invitation by the famous model and host Tyra Banks recorded the same day and aired September 12 on NBC.

Reception [ ]

Commercial [ ].

According to ticket resale site StubHub BTS was one of 2018's best selling concerts in the world, second to only Ed Sheeran. On October 7 it was estimated that BTS sold a total of 790,000 tickets, selling out all current concerts venues and with more dates expected to be added to the tour.

On August 4, Big Hit Entertainment confirmed all 90,000 tickets for the Seoul shows (August 25 and 26) were sold out after the second public sale on August 3. On August 17, it was announced that only from the first two concerts at the Seoul Olympic Stadium in Seoul, BTS was projected to make USD 8.4 Million (KRW 95 Billion) in ticket revenue alone. Dates for nine dome concerts in Japan were announced on July 30 across the group's social media platforms. In Japan, it came in at nineteenth overall for 2018 best selling concerts. In Singapore, tickets sold out in less than four hours.

Tickets went on sale May 5, 2018 for the Newark, Fort Worth, and Los Angeles shows and sold out in seconds. Due to the high demand, an additional date was added to the Los Angeles lineup, with tickets going on sale May 9, 2018. Tickets for the Oakland, Chicago, and Hamilton shows went on sale May 7, 2018. Tickets for the Hamilton shows sold out in just over an hour, with organizers for the Ontario stop, Core Entertainment, revealing they would have sold out faster if not for the strain put on Ticketmaster's online system due to the heavy influx of site traffic, the likes of which had not been seen for any ticketing held before All fourteen stops completely sold out. A fifteenth and final stop of the North American leg, Citi Field in New York, was later announced on August 8, making BTS the first Korean artist to hold a concert at a stadium in the United States. Tickets for the show sold out in under ten minutes. On September 9, Variety announced that BTS, and singer Elton John, were the top touring acts of Fall 2018 in the United States. According to StubHub, BTS entered the "highest-selling act" and "best-selling shows" lists with the "highest-selling average sales per show position". Yahoo Finance revealed that BTS were also the top-selling act and top-selling show artist in Canada for Fall 2018.

The London, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Paris stops mark the group's first and biggest European headline shows to date. Tickets went on sale June 1, with the London dates selling out in two minutes, and the Berlin shows selling out in nine minutes.

Critical [ ]

The Love Yourself received positive reviews from critics. For the first concerts in America, local media reported in Los Angeles since the moment fans started to camp outside the Staples Center days ahead the concert. Philip Cosores from Uproxx described BTS' Staples Center 4 night concerts as "Enormous, multi-sensory experience" bringing an "Inclusive" and "Multicultural experience" where music is above any language barrier. Tiffany Taylor from The Hollywood Reporter noted for Billboard News the "Amazing choreography" praising the solo performances and energy of the fans as highlight of the night. Jim Harrington from The Mercury News referred to the Oracle Arena concert on Oakland as "the hottest concert of the year in the Bay Area" noting the solo performances as "witnessing seven individual stars, each of whom could enjoy a successful solo career." For the Chicago show critic Kim Youngdae stated their strengths were the dazzling group displays, the artistry in the solo numbers, and how immersive it was. Crystal Bell from MTV said about the tour, "BTS have created an experience so captivating, so inclusive, and so visually stunning that it’s cemented the boy band as one of the most vital acts in pop music today." The Quietus wrote about the European tour as " The show is about a search for self-identity. After two-and-a-half hours of costume changes, pulsing beats, soaring high notes and the impossible iconic beauty of their videos, BTS walk to the front of the stage in low-key jeans and T-shirts. As they sing the last song, ‘Anpanman’, which is about a new kind of superhero, we realise that their awkwardness and sensitivity is also the source of their strength."

The Denisonian rated the concert ten out of ten, stating the music, visuals, dancing, and fans is what made it a great experience. Vivid Seats named BTS the 2018 artist of the year, citing the group's history-making concert at Citi Field.

Accolades [ ]

The Love Yourself tour was nominated for three awards during ticket sale website Ticketmaster's year-end awards, winning two of them. The Ticket of the Year Award was awarded to BTS following a user poll by Ticketmaster, using a database of roughly 200 million people to determine the most popular touring act of 2018. In addition, BTS was awarded the French ticket of the year award, which pulled from data via French Ticketmaster sales. The tour was also nominated for the "Most Anticipated Event of the Year, 2019" award, but did not receive it. Love Yourself also won grand prize award at the 6th Edaily Culture Awards for Best Concert. The Seoul performances were popular among judges because, according to Kim Eun-koo of Edaily, they "created a new history [for] K-pop". The skill of the performers and popularity of the event were also cited as influences on the decision.

The additional European dates sold out the same day they were listed.

According to pop music website PopCrush, the extension had higher first-day sales in the United States and Europe than the Rolling Stones' 2019 tour, which went on sale the same day. BTS are also the first Asian act to sell out the Rose Bowl.

Following the rehearsal and sound check, Jungkook was lightly stretching in the waiting room when he collided with floor furnishings and suffered an injury to his heel. The opinion of the medical team is that while the injury is not serious, performing choreography may do further damage to the injured area.

BTS recently released a new preview video of their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour.

The video shows the unfiltered side of the BTS members.

From members talking about their concert experiences to Jimin scolding RM, the short video is everything and more.

BTS has again reminded us that they will always be 7 by dropping another piece of content together.

The South Korean boy band transported their fandom back to their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour. Refreshing the memories, the septet has shared a clip from their Seoul stop.

On Monday, October 3, 2022, BTS’ official YouTube channel shared a 1-minute 14-second long preview clip titled BTS: ‘LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF’ [ THE FINAL] SPOT .

In the video all the seven members of the South Korean boy band, BTS were seen reflecting on the beautiful moments during the tour and thanking the fans for their attendance.

The 26-year-old member, Jimin asks leader RM to get it together during what seems to be a dance practice session.

In June the members of the septet including Jin aka Kim Seok-jin, Jimin aka Park Ji-min, RM aka Kim Nam-joon, J-hope aka Jung Ho-seok, V aka Kim Tae-hyung, and Jungkook aka Jeon Jung-kook announced during their anniversary dinner that they are taking a break from releasing group projects.

Since then the members have been embracing Chapter 2 and have been releasing collaborative tracks with other artists and solo projects.

However, the K-Pop idols are set to hold a free concert on October 15, 2022, in Busan in a bid for the World Expo 2030.

BTS' Jimin's FACE makes history to become the first Korean & non-English album by an Asian soloist to surpass 500K units sold in the US

O n June 6, 2024, BTS' Jimin achieved a massive milestone as his solo debut album FACE became the first Korean and non-English album by an Asian solo artist to soar past 500,000 units sold in the US in history. This feat now makes the album eligible for RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) Gold certification.

Released on March 24, 2023, the EP was already dubbed the fastest album by a K-pop soloist to surpass 100 million Spotify streams just five days after release. Soon after, the album extended the same record by garnering 800 million streams on Spotify in July 2023. His song Like Crazy from FACE was also termed the fastest song by a K-soloist to sell over 500,000 units in the US last year.

At present, Like Crazy remains the highest charting song by a Korean Act, standing at #89 on the Spotify USA Daily Top Songs chart with 532,721 streams and counting as of June 5, 2024. The song maintains its record as the longest-charting (227 days) and the most streamed Korean song in chart history.

Like Crazy recently racked up 90 million streams on the Spotify USA Daily Top Songs chart, becoming the first Korean song in history to do so. It was also titled the highest charting song by a K-soloist, remaining at #77 on Spotify Daily Top Songs Global on June 5. It further accumulated 1,827,628 daily streams.

Looking at some more of BTS' Jimin's accomplishments with debut EP FACE

The 28-year-old BTS idol's studio album FACE features six tracks - the main track Like Crazy , Face-off , Interlude : Dive , Alone , pre-release track Set Me Free Pt.2 , and Like Crazy (English Version) . While the album was immediately upon release, met with a series of achievements, its impact is still strong, even after a little over a year of its release.

In January of 2024, FACE topped the Worldwide and European iTunes Album charts, reaching high points in various countries, including Russia, Germany, Mexico, the UK, the US, and more. Furthermore, as recorded on January 15, FACE even wrote history as the first and only album by a K-pop act to claim the first spot on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart for 15 days.

Presently, the Serendipity singer holds four positions in the top 15 of Spotify South Korea Daily Chart, as recorded on June 5, with Like Crazy at #1, its English version clinching #7, Set Me Free Pt. 2 standing at #8, and Jimin's solo digital single Closer Than This at #12. FACE maintained its position at #11 on this week's Billboard World Albums chart as the longest charting album by a K-soloist of all time (56 weeks) as of June 4.

Apart from his feats with FACE , Jimin's collaboration song with Taeyang, VIBE , also saw a massive feat recently, having surpassed 60 million streams on MelOn.

In other BTS news

With the group's 11th debut anniversary fast approaching on June 13, member Jungkook will be releasing his new track, Never Let Go , on June 7, in keeping with the septet's tradition of launching new tracks surrounding the BTS Festa.

Additionally, the 2024 Bang Bang Con has also been announced, which will be streamed on June 8 at noon KST. Ahead of its streaming, a main poster has been revealed on the group's official social media handles.

This time, the BTS Online Concert Weekend will feature the following three concerts - the 2014 BTS Live Trilogy Episode II The Red Bullet, the 2017 BTS Live Trilogy Episode III The Wings Tour The Final, and the 2019 BTS World Tour Love Yourself: Speak Yourself [The Final].

BTS Jimin’s Best Glow Up: From Self-Criticism To Self-Love

love yourself tour jimin

In the last seven years,  BTS  have transformed themselves from the inside out. Like the rest of his members, Jimin  has learned how to love himself more, and it shows.

love yourself tour jimin

Being a perfectionist and a professional, Jimin is his own toughest critic. In the beginning, he tended to be especially hard on himself in regard to his outward appearance and his on-stage performances. If there was room for improvement, that meant there was room for errors too.

love yourself tour jimin

No matter how hard you work or how skilled you are, everyone makes mistakes. Some things are out of your control, but Jimin is living proof that you can always control one thing: your mindset.

love yourself tour jimin

In the past, the smallest error could ruin Jimin’s feelings about his whole performance. During  The Wings  tour in 2017, his voice cracked twice during a rehearsal and his mic fell off.

Your browser does not support video.

The staff tried to reassure him, but he continued to stress over his mistakes.

In 2019, Jimin revealed that he no longer dwells on his mistakes as much. Now, he encourages himself by telling himself that he’ll do better next time.

This mental glow up can be seen in Episode 5 of  Break The Silence.  During BTS’s  LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF  tour, Jimin experienced throat pain and ended up losing his voice.

love yourself tour jimin

This was difficult for his members to see, knowing how frustrating it feels to be in that position themselves.

love yourself tour jimin

When the unexpected happens and we suddenly lose our voice, we can’t give a good performance no matter how much we want to. That’s why we end up getting mad at ourselves. I think Jimin will be feeling very apologetic toward ARMY right now. — V

Instead of dwelling on it, however, or blaming himself, Jimin took it in stride.

love yourself tour jimin

It’s true that I didn’t do a good job, but I don’t think I was overcome with despair or regretful or self-critical. I just accepted the circumstances. Of course, I’m sure there were a lot of people who were worried about me because it affected my performance. I want to grow further and faster so I can show them a really great performance. In my head, I was telling the fans, “I’ll do better real soon.” — Jimin

In the past, Jimin might have broken down over the situation, but he isn’t that person anymore. During a talk with ARMY, Jimin explained that these tears had nothing to do with being upset.

love yourself tour jimin

They were tears of happiness!

I wasn’t feeling well up until yesterday. Still it was okay because I could do everything I wanted to. I told myself it would be okay. But the reason I cried last night was because you were singing with me. I was so moved by that. It was a great gift for me. — Jimin

After seeing Jimin’s transformation, it’s no wonder why so many fans are following his lead and learning to love themselves each step of the way!
