ONLINE TICKET SCAMS - Beware of scammers attempting to sell fake tickets (primarily racer entries) - if they send proof of purchase there are typically typos such as “Race Park of Midlands” instead of “Raceway Park of the Midlands” - The amounts don’t make sense ($80.18 when tickets are $80 plus taxes & fees) and bad grammar (“You purchase 2 tickets”) because these scammers are horrible, not well educated people.

It’s Official! Princess Cruises Only Line to Offer Authentic Gelato Experience at Sea

Italian chamber of commerce certifies gelato experience on board princess ships as first to offer the authentic confection outside italy.

By downloading this image you agree to the Princess asset use terms and conditions

With the start of summer, scooping up one of Italy’s most famous desserts from Gelato onboard Discovery Princess, Enchanted Princess and Sky Princess just got a little sweeter. The Princess Cruises gelato shops have been designated as Ospitalità Italiana , and are the first and only locations to offer an authentic Italian gelato experience outside of Italy.

The prestigious Ospitalità Italiana designation is issued by the Italian Chamber of Commerce committee, an organization of the Italian government, and confirms that every step of the gelato-making process meets or exceeds a strict set of standards as approved by official Italian auditors and experts, who review the process on a yearly basis. Only gelato shops that attain outstanding quality status are awarded the official Ospitalità Italiana certification.

Princess Cruises handcrafts its fresh gelato with Italian-certified ingredients and equipment each day in the pastry kitchens onboard the cruise line’s three newest ships – Discovery Princess, Enchanted Princess and Sky Princess. Corporate pastry chef Eric Le Rouzic trained with the best Italian chefs at the Gelato Carpigiani University in Bologna and the Gelato Comprital Atheneum in Milano to master the art of making this heaven in a bowl. Princess uses top-of-line gelato machines by renowned manufacturer Carpigiani and the Gelato display cases were produced in Italy by expert craftsmen.

“The ‘ Ospitalità Italiana’ is a tremendous extension of our Italian heritage and gives us the opportunity to immerse our guests into the unique Italian culture found throughout Italy in our very own piazza,” said John Padgett, Princess Cruises president. “The designation also recognizes the incredible dedication of our pastry chefs and their passion to offer truly authentic experiences and the very best ingredients to our guests.”

Fun Fact - Gelato Isn’t Ice Cream

According to legend, the recipe for Gelato was popularized when architect Bernardo Buontalenti was asked to create a special confection for a member of the Medici noble family in the 16 th century. Buontalenti mixed milk, eggs, sugar and extracts in a special machine surrounded by ice and salt, and egg cream-based gelato was born.

While it’s creamy, gelato has less butter fat and fewer calories. The authentic Italian ingredients are combined with Princess’ freshly sourced fruit and is made each day with milk, not requiring the extra fat from cream that is needed in ice cream for a longer shelf life. As a result, a scoop of gelato is 80-100 calories and the sorbet or “fruit gelato” has no fat and is only 50-60 calories, with no dairy.

Princess guests can choose from a variety of flavors – favorites like fior di latte (vanilla) and cioccolato (chocolate), to tiramisu, Nutella and caramello salato (salted carmel). The menu even offers dairy-free, fat-free sorbets and sugar-free gelato. Guests can enjoy them by themselves, with toppings or in such tasty combinations as “affogato” (with liqueur) or “coppe,” including indulgent creations like nutellone (Nutella gelato, Nutella and whipped cream) or amaretto and peaches (amaretto gelato, fresh sliced peaches and meringue drops).

Ice Cream Cruise 2022: Miles of Machines In The Fields Of Iowa

Nov 09, 2022 Bryan McTaggart SHOWS & EVENTS , Videos Comments Off on Ice Cream Cruise 2022: Miles of Machines In The Fields Of Iowa

Ice Cream Cruise 2022: Miles of Machines In The Fields Of Iowa

Iowa. What do we know about the state? Well, we know that Kevin and Mook from Junkyard Digs call the state their home. We know that there’s corn…lots and lots of corn. We know that there is a lot of open space to play with. And we know that the Ice Cream Cruise turns I29 Dragway in Pacific Junction into one major car event. With a skid pad, a burnout contest, drag racing, roll racing, and the miles upon miles of show vehicles, the Ice Cream Cruise is one of the largest shows in that local area. And it’s even got a philanthropical point…this year over $90,000 dollars was raised for Least of my Bretheren, a homeless outreach program. Because you needed a reason to come out on a sunny weekend and check out a huge field full of killer machines, right?

The 1320Video crew are closely tied to the Ice Cream Cruise, since Nebraska is about as close to Iowa as you can get without being in the same state, and filmed many aspects of the show, from the dyno challenge to everyone trying to escape the blistering heat thanks to a loose garden hose. If you can’t find something here you like, you aren’t looking hard enough. From mini-trucks to some absolutely nasty street players, you could find it at the Ice Cream Cruise. Think you missed out? Be sure to make your way out to next year’s show, September 22-24, 2023!

Ice Cream Cruise

Regrettably, the ice cream cruise will not operate in 2024. due to a substantial increase in the cost of using the dock at lake union park, the ice cream cruise has become uneconomical for us to provide. we are looking for options to bring the ice cream cruise back in 2025..

In 2023, the City of Seattle doubled the fees charged to use the float at Lake Union Park. These fees ate up a large portion of the revenue we generated from ticket and ice cream sales, to the point that it no longer makes economic sense for use to operate the Ice Cream Cruise. We have exhausted all possibilities for alternative sites that we have identified. We may have more luck over the next year and find a site we can operate from in 2025.

We are very sad about this, and we are so thankful for all the support we have receive for the Ice Cream Cruise over the past 20 years. It has brought a great deal of joy to local residents and visitors. Let’s hope we can get it running in 2025.

We continue to operate private charters, and we always have ice cream on board for our charter customers. And if you have a gift certificate we would be happy to provide a refund.

National Ice Cream Day 2024: Get some cool deals at Dairy Queen, Cold Stone, Jeni's and more

Whether you like vanilla, chocolate or some other flavor of ice cream, this sunday, july 21, is a day to celebrate: national ice cream day. you can get deals and freebies at lots of places..

Portrait of Mike Snider

Will vanilla be your choice of flavor on National Ice Cream Day, which is Sunday, July 21?

That's the favorite flavor of most Americans, surveys have found.

Vanilla came in No. 1 on delivery service Instacart's analysis of orders from June to August 2023. During that time, 29% of Instacart orders included vanilla ice cream, the company says. That result parallels the findings by online research firm YouGov's 2022 survey of favorite ice cream flavors , which found vanilla as the most-liked, in general, and the favorite flavor by the most survey respondents.

In both reports, chocolate came in No. 2, while cookies and cream took third place in Instacart orders, but mint chocolate chip was No. 3 in YouGov's survey.

Vanilla is great on its own , but it can be combined with syrups, fruit and other ingredients to make milk shakes, smoothies and sundaes. Speaking of which, is it a coincidence President Reagan declared National Ice Cream Day would be celebrated on the third Sunday of July – get it, sundae? He also declared July as National Ice Cream Month.

Here's a roundup of deals for those frosty holidays. Remember, local foodie spots may have specials, too, so check their social media accounts.

Here's the scoop: 10 best indie ice cream shops across the US

Our favorite place to go to on the Panorama was the Shake Spot. I think they were open till 10 pm but I’m not 100% sure on that. My favorite was the chocolate caramel shake. My husbands was the strawberry creamsicle. They are very very good and worth the $$$.

Just inside the sliding doors, on either side of the lido buffet.

It's very interesting that Late Night Snacks is back at lido marketplace. Is this accurate or an old copy? That is big news if it's back. Sure it's not fancy but it's something and helps with the pizza hoards.

It's old, Swirls is listed as 24hrs and that's not correct so I'm thinking the late night snacks is outdated info as well.

Ah, yes. Good catch, I suspect you are correct. Darn, I was hoping it was back.

I enjoyed the late night snacks last year on Panorama on several sailings. They had a grilled tomato sandwich served on french bread toast that was killer yet not too heavy before bedtime.

The Swirls says 24 HRS. Anymore, you'd need a weekly update for accuracy the way things are changing @ Carnival.

Thanks! At least we can get shakes if they shut swirls down early.

Good to know. Them being outside the doors on the Radiance just didn't seem right.  😆

Last I heard it was until 10 or 11 pm. But they were shutting them down before 8pm on the Radiance last month.

Yes, I've read it varies by ship on when the crew get a chance to shut them down at night. Last I heard the machines are open at 11am. On the Vista Class ships, like the Panorama, who really needs soft serve when the far superior gelato is served at every lunch with two different varieties available each day?

Note that "Pizza Plus" is a bit like Late Night Snacks.  The menu expands to include lasagna, a rotating sandwich (chicken parm, meatball, etc.) and caesar salad.    They had it on Horizon as recently as October.  Sadly, I missed the end of it by about 10 minutes...but I survived somehow. 😄

They had a similar arrangement on the Vista pre-COVID and while the sandwiches were good, the lasagna was great....IF you like a meaty beef lasagna, which that definitely was.

The gelato is wonderful plus you can add your own toppings like; chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, crushed chocolate sandwich cookies, sprinkles, granola and many more.  You can also go back as many times as you want and it's free!!!

Not quite, the gelato is included in the cruise fare we paid 😉

thanks for the chuckle on your very important question.  some cruise lines have soft ice cream outside near pool and regular ice cream in buffet area.  And on RCI they have ice cream in promenade as well (sorry I know this is CCL) just want to mention.

Full disclosure the " ice cream " isn't ice cream. It'd called "dessert mix" and has HFC and carrageenan which is a glue approved for use in food as a thickener in America.

Here are the ingredients on the back of the cartons:

Carn Soft2.jpg

Aha, so the soft-serve is a "dessert mix" while the frozen yogurt is apparently....yogurt.

National Ice Cream Day is Sunday. Stop by one of these Eastern Shore spots to celebrate

Portrait of Olivia Minzola

Sunday, July 21, is surely a day to celebrate: National Ice Cream Day.

The Eastern Shore of Maryland is no stranger to the summer heat. Now, with temperatures slowly ticking up, beachgoers are in search of an air-conditioned place to escape the sweltering sun and enjoy a tasty treat.

Here's the scoop on some of the most beloved Eastern Shore ice cream shops, and where to stop in for a bite of soft serve and sprinkles on the special, ice cream themed day.

OCEAN CITY NAMED 'TOP BEACH': Ocean City hailed as top US beach town by multiple top-tier travel publications.

1. Island Creamery

Stop by for a scoop of ice cream at the "Best Ice Cream Place in America;" and no, that is not an exaggeration. Island Creamery , located at 120 N Main Street in Berlin and 306 Dogwood Drive in Salisbury, was awarded the title on July 7, 2023, for its use of fresh, quality ingredients and creativity in its ice cream, floats, milkshakes and more.

The indie ice cream shop offers fun flavors such as Wallops Rocket Fuel, Rum Raisin and much more. Island Creamery has a total of three locations across Maryland and Virginia. Its original shop, located at 6243 Maddox Blvd on Chincoteague Island, opened in 1975 under Bob and Nancy Conklin as a candy store known as Mr. Chocolate.

2. Two Scoops Ice Cream & Waffles

Along with Island Creamery, the city of Salisbury is home to locally-owned ice cream shop Two Scoops Ice Cream & Waffles . The small business, owned by Nicole Rogers, is located at 100 E Main St., #110. The ice cream parlor, coffee bar and gift shop serves a wide variety of homemade ice cream flavors from The Frozen Farmer.

Two Scoops Ice Cream & Waffles offers patrons unique ice cream treats such as ice cream flights, floats, milkshakes, and gourmet sundaes. In addition, a patron's choice of ice cream can be served in a warm waffle cone or bowl. An array of beach-themed gifts, accessories and home décor are also available for purchase.

3. Dumser's Dairyland

Ocean City staple Dumser's Dairyland has been beckoning guests for approximately 85 years. Dumser's Dairyland, which officially launched in 1939, now has seven local, family-owned shops that serve a wide variety of fresh ice cream flavors —  such as coconut chocolate chip, butter pecan and mint Oreo —  within hours of its manufacture.

Dumser's Dairyland, located along Coastal Highway and on Ocean City's historic Boardwalk, offers patrons a large selection of milkshakes, sundaes, floats and much more. The business's 49th and 123rd Street locations capture the historic 50's diner look, and feature a menu of lunch and dinner options in addition to its frozen treats.

4. PopCe’s Homemade Ice Cream

Be sure to check out PopCe's Homemade Ice Cream , located at 11312 Manklin Creek Road, Unit B-6, in Ocean Pines. The locally-owned ice cream shop celebrated its official grand opening in May 2023, and has been serving up homemade ice cream goodness to its devoted customers ever since.

PopCe's Homemade Ice Cream, co-owned by Bob and Celeste Miller, makes all of its hand-scooped ice cream on site, with local and all natural ingredients, fruits and coloring. Together, the pair's seven grandchildren call them Poppy and CeCe, hence the name of the ice cream shop: PopCe’s.

5. Kohr Brothers Frozen Custard

Like Dumser's Dairyland, Kohr Brothers Frozen Custard has become a staple along the Eastern Shore, as the small business has been serving up old-fashioned custard and ice cream on the East Coast since 1919. Kohr Bro's three Maryland locations include 709 South Atlantic Ave., 401 S. Boardwalk and 112 S. Boardwalk in Ocean City.

Kohr Brothers Frozen Custard offers treats that are lower in fat and sugar compared to ice cream. According to its website, Kohr Bro's menu features single flavors and twist combinations —  from traditional vanilla and distinctive chocolate to its wide variety of real fruit flavors. Topping are also available to add on to any sweet treat.

NEW OCEANFRONT COCKTAIL BAR: Ocean City's Coconut Club a new craft cocktail bar and coastal escape, all in one

6. Southpole Ice Cream Roll

Southpole Ice Cream Roll , one of the first stores to supply Asian-style ice cream rolls in Ocean City, is a great place to escape the scorching summer sun. The ice cream shop, located mere steps from downtown Ocean City's historic Boardwalk at 10 N Division Street, combines Asian and American skills with modern elements.

In addition to cups of hand-rolled ice cream, Southpole Ice Cream Roll also offers frozen coffee and smoothies to-go. A few signature hand-rolled flavors include Morning Latte, Miss Nilla Wafers, Smores Galore, Strawberry Short Cake and more. Customers may add up to three toppings to their ice cream flavor of choice.

7. Justine's Ice Cream Parlour

In search of a quality ice cream shop? Justine's Ice Cream Parlour is an ideal place to pop by. The local ice cream shop, located at 12207 Coastal Highway, Ste A, is celebrating its 12th season in Ocean City. The small business is best known for its famous wall of 77 classic and signature shakes.

Justine's Ice Cream Parlour offers patrons a wide variety of sweet ice cream treats, including scoops, sundaes, hurricanes, milkshakes, snow cones and ice-cold beverages. The cherished ice cream shop teases even more new flavors and creative milkshakes to come this upcoming summer season.

LOCAL BUSINESS: Ocean City gets new bar and ice cream shop, Salisbury loses beloved jewelry store

8. King Kone

After opening its doors on 143rd street in Ocean City during the summer of 1996, King Kone continues to be a beloved destination for many local residents and vacationers alike. Now, King Kone operates two separate locations along Coastal Highway —  69th Street and 143rd Street.

King Kone, whose mission is to make its customers happy, serves an array of quality Hershey's ice cream flavors such as Cappuccino Crunch, Moose Tracks, Cookies and Cream, and many more beloved creamy classics, all available for purchase as shakes and floats or in cones and cups.

9. Snow Daze

In need of a tasty treat, whether icy or creamy? Look no further than Snow Daze, one of the Eastern Shore's newest ice cream shops. The small, family-friendly business celebrated its official grand opening in May 2024, and teases an inaugural summer season filled with chill vibes and flavorful shaved ice.

Snow Daze , a shaved ice and ice cream shop all-in-one, is located at 9533 Stephen Decatur Highway in West Ocean City. Along with a menu filled with unique bites, the building that houses the establishment features a colorful mural depicting a mythical creature known as the yeti, or abominable snowman.

OCEAN CITY MERCHANDISE DISPLAYS: Ocean City weighs crackdown on what can be displayed on Boardwalk. All to know.

10. A-La Cone

Be sure to also check out the newest face in Ocean City's business scene: A-La Cone. The brand-new ice cream shop can be found on Coastal Highway at 125th Street, right next to Sunsations and in the building that previously housed The Salad Box during the 2023 summer season.

A-La Cone is serving up "bubbly delight in every bite," according to its official Instagram page. The ice cream shop's menu includes 12 PopCe's Homemade Ice Cream flavors, all of which are available on warm bubble cones. A-La Cone's menu also features an array of fruity refresher drinks.

ROUTE 90 TO CLOSE: Route 90 into Ocean City will be closed for four nights, starting Monday. What to know.

Things To Do

Subscriber only, restaurants, food and drink | new ice cream shops and favorites in hampton roads for national ice cream day and beyond.

A flight of ice cream from Sundae Scoop in Virginia Beach. On this day they were salted caramel buttered pecan, left; strawberry caramel pecan; pistachio; and lavender blueberry.

Bergey’s Breadbasket , a family-owned deli and creamery, makes its own ice cream and milkshakes. Flavors vary each day, but the black raspberry is one of my favorites. Indulge in a flight of four treats or take home a pint or quart.

2207 Mount Pleasant Road. 757-546-9225; bit.ly/BergeyBB

Soft serve vanilla ice cream in a waffle cone at Sommer Freeze in Hampton, Virginia.

I Scream U Scream opened a few days ago on Big Bethel in the former Dairy Queen location. It features 24 flavors of Hershey’s ice cream, including pistachio, butter pecan and strawberry. Customers can choose from 13 toppings. The place, owned by Randy Bowman of Bowman’s Soul-N-The Wall, also sells Nathan’s hot dogs. Vegan and turkey dogs are also available.

924 Big Bethel Road.

Sommer Freeze continues to scoop up Blue Bell ice cream after two years in business. Bride’s Cake is a go-to of mine.  It’s made with almond ice cream, white cake pieces and an amaretto cream cheese icing swirl. Can’t go wrong with their soft-serve vanilla, either.

308 Buckroe Ave., 757-527-4444; bit.ly/SommerFreeze

Isle of Wight County

Word on the street: Cone Slingers is wanted for the best ice cream in the county. It has a Six Shooter Skink Coffee (coffee ice cream with almond and toffee bits), Cowboy Cookie Dough (Oreo ice cream with chocolate chip cookie dough), Chuckwagon Chocolate (chocolate ice cream) and many others. Ride out with your partners for a house-made treat.

Newport News

Try more than 15 ice cream flavors at The Hilton Creamery, such as the Brown Butter Bourbon Truffle (salty caramel sauce, brown butter ice cream and brown butter bourbon truffles) and Graham Central Station (graham-flavored ice cream with a crunchy graham cracker swirl and chocolate-covered honeycomb candies) — my loves. Create an ice cream sandwich or add the creamery’s newest topping: chocolate hard shell.

10349 Warwick Blvd. 757-990-3023; thehiltoncreamery.com

Michoacan A Pedir De Boca Ice Cream Shop , a chain, doesn’t have much of an online presence but comes highly recommended by local foodies. It serves not only mouthwatering ice cream but also paletas (ice pops made with fresh fruit) and other Mexican drinks (mangonada) and snacks (churros).

14333 Warwick Blvd. 757-814-4500.

Doumar's Cones and Barbecue on Monticello Avenue in Norfolk, Aug. 23, 2022. Abe Doumar opened his first ice cream stand in 1905, and in 1907 launched Norfolk's in Ocean View a location chosen for the beach. The Monticello shop didn't open till 1934, after the great 1933 hurricane heavily damaged the amusement park at Ocean View.

Can’t talk about frozen treats without mentioning Doumar’s Cones & Barbecue , home of the original waffle cone. It opened in 1934. Pull up and order dessert (banana splits, ice cream floats and hot fudge sundaes), barbecue and fries, either carside or inside. It’s a perfect place for a casual date night.

1919 Monticello Ave. 757-627-4163; doumars.com

Inside Scoop Cereal Treats & More recently opened at Colonial Avenue and 29th Street with more than 15 ice cream flavors. Get a cereal-infused milkshake such as Frosted Flake and Fruity Pebbles. Dine in or take it to go.

2815 Colonial Ave. 757-590-6939; bit.ly/InsideScoopNVa

Paradice had a grand opening for its brick-and-mortar in May. It started as a food truck. The spot serves shaved and Italian ice, ice cream, and milkshakes seven days a week.

1906 Frederick Blvd. 804-855-9137; bit.ly/Paradice757

Mad Batter Confections & Cones sells goodies including cookies, cupcakes and freeze-dried candy. It also dishes up a banana split parfait and the Cookies & Cream Sky High, with layers of cookies and cream and chocolate ice cream topped with hot fudge and Oreo cookies. Sounds scrumptious.

149 N. Main St. 252-506-1956; bit.ly/MadBatterSVA

Enjoy Ice Cream at the Toano Flower Field in the historic Wilkinson House on Richmond Road. It offers strawberry, chocolate, old-fashioned vanilla and other familiars. Customers can pick flowers from the field to take home or take in the sights from the patio.

7816 Richmond Road. 757-707-6941; bit.ly/IceCreamTFF

Virginia Beach

Gelati Celesti Ice Cream  is having a “Midnight Madness” party from 12:01 a.m. to 1 a.m. to celebrate National Ice Cream Day. Everyone gets a free scoop. Patrons also can win prizes during normal business hours. Let the good times roll and the handmade ice cream flow.

754 First Colonial Road. 757-937-0471; 4485 Virginia Beach Blvd. 757-394-8668. Also Chesapeake, 613 Volvo Parkway. 757-410-0315; gelatiicecream.com

Lolly’s Creamery keeps it creative with monthlong flavors and limited releases. Recently, it shared Sarah’s Wedding Cake on social media. It included almond ice cream with strawberry jam and almond wedding cake pieces. Oh my. Don’t worry, all locations always have the classics, such as real deal vanilla, mint chocolate chip and cookie monster (cookies and cream with chocolate chip cookie dough).

Head to Sundae Scoop for the salted caramel butter pecan. My past description : A buttery sensation with pecan pieces, ribbons of caramel and a touch of salt in each bite. Daily flavors range from ube to birthday cake to banana pudding. Can’t decide? Choose four and create a flight.

1832 Kempsville Road. 757-809-6637; sundaescoopva.com

Treat your kids to SuperHeroes Ice Cream . It was inspired by 4-year-old Brantley , the son of owners Coleman and Amberly Ferguson. The parlor has more than 20 ice creams, including Hulk’s Underwear (mint chocolate Oreo). Dine in, take out or book a party.

2724 N. Mall Drive. 757-376-8924; superheroesicecream.com

The SnoBall Shop features more than 60 classic and fun flavors, including cantaloupe, mojito and pink bubble gum. Get the SnoShake and thank me later. This delicious creation includes two flavors, special cream, and flavored drizzle and whip. The idea of getting shaved ice makes me feel cool.

Head to The Swirl, owned by Anna Fiorello, whose husband is the proprietor of Antonio’s Ristorante Italiano next door. It offers more than 10 gelato flavors imported from Italy; I’m a fan of its pistachio. The takeout spot also has soft-serve ice cream and desserts including cakes, cannoli and cookies.
