Day 1 In Chikmagalur:

1. z point, kemmanagundi (58 km).

• Start your trip early in the morning around 5 PM as in the afternoon the way to Z point gets overcrowded with lots of cars and bikes.
• You would need around 1 hour to reach the starting point of Z point from Chikmagalur.
• This is the perfect time to enjoy the stunning sunrise at top of the point.
• Try to pack your breakfast.

Z Point is one of the best short treks in Karnataka that is famous for offering amazing views of the Western Ghats. Located 57 KM away from Chikmagalur, Z Point is one of the best places to visit on your 2 day trip to Chikmagalur. To reach the top of the point you need to cover a 3 KM trek that traverses through the thick forest, steep hills, beautiful waterfalls, wonderful views and refreshing breeze. While going towards the point don’t forget to stop at Shanti Falls which is located around 1.5 KM from the starting point of the trek.

After admiring the beauty of Z Point, let’s head up to Hebbe Falls which is located around 8 KM from the Z Point. Situated amidst the dense forest and high mountain peaks, Hebbe Falls is one of the best waterfalls in Karnataka. The journey to the waterfall makes it more beautiful as the way is surrounded by dense forest and coffee plantations. To reach there you need to take a jeep from the forest counter that charges around 3200 INR per jeep (6 to 8 people) including return. After covering the 13 KM by jeep you need to take the short trail of 1 KM to reach the bottom of the Hebbe Fall.

Don’t forget to take bath in the water of Hebbe Falls as the water comes through the mountain then it is believed that water is infused with medical herbs offering healing qualities for skin diseases.

Trip Duration – You must spend 2 to 3 hours enjoying this natural wonder at its best.

According to the legends, this is the place where Lord Parshurama requested Rama to show the scene of his marriage. And due to that Sita is placed at the right side of Rama and Lakshmana to his left. Start your day with the blessing of Lord Vishnu at Veera Narayana temple of Belavadi. Located just 29 KM from Chikmagalur, the Veera Narayana temple was built in the 13th century by the Hoysala empire. The temple is situated in Belavadi town which is mentioned in the Hindu epic of Mahabharata. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Krishna and Venugopala. 8. Baba Budangiri Hill (33 KM)

Now it’s time to explore the Baba Budangiri mountain which is famous for its shrine of Baba Budan, a pilgrimage spot for Hindus and Muslims. There you can visit three caves with buried Siddhas. Also, this is the place where Baba Budan brought 7 Coffee beans from Yemen and planted the coffee for the first time in this region.

4KM to the left there is a lake named Galikere Lake where you can get clear water with beautiful views. And 4KM to the right of the parking area there is place Gali Gopura where you can experience the freezing winds.

A vacation at the Kudremukh National Park is a different experience from all places to visit in Chikmagalur. This place is located about 96 km from Chikmagalur city . Located in the pristine environs of the Western Ghats, the park is located at an altitude of around 1800 metres above sea level. This high altitude presents multiple benefits. There is a hill here that is shaped like the head of a horse. In Kannada, a horse is called Kudre and the Kannada word for face is Mukha. Hence combining these two words, it becomes Kudremukh or horse’s face. The park is big. There are four sub-ranges here. The entire region is thickly covered with dense forests. There are tea and coffee plantations here in equal measure as well. This region comes under the aegis of the Global Tiger Conservation Priority-I. Given the impressive wildlife and flora in this place when on a Chikmagalur sightseeing expedition , this comes as no surprise. Three rivers originate at the Kudremukh National Park. They are namely Tunga, Bhadra, and Nethravati. There is an ancient cave in the park that has to be visited by devotees of Goddess Bhagavati. Mullayanagiri

The highest peak in Karnataka is at Chikmagalur, called the Mullayanagiri. The height of this peak is close to 2000 metres. This peak is supposed to resemble a trekker’s backyard.  Mullayanagiri has amazing trekking trails. Nature walks here are among the best in the country. Located 12 km from Chikmagalur, Mullayanagiri is the highest mountain between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris. On top of the peak, there is a small temple. The summer months are best for festivals, beach bars and culture

During the summer months of July to August, temperatures in Belgium can reach a pleasant 20°C (about 70°F). This is also a popular time for domestic and international travelers to the Belgian North Sea coast.

In summer, the beaches of Knokke and Ostend come to life with sunbathers, kite surfers and families looking for a fun day trip.

At the same time, Belgium’s hottest months mark the peak of its renowned music festival season, with multiday festivals like Rock Werchter and Tomorrowland and more intimate events like Cactusfestival and Gent Jazz .

April to June and September to October is best for hiking and thin crowds

Spring also marks the end of the country’s winter slumber. In Hallerbos, a grand carpet of vibrant bluebells bloom in April, drawing visitors from all over the world.

Restaurant and cafe terraces (like Bar Chapel , a converted monastery garden in Antwerp) open up again, giving you the perfect chance to soak up the city’s atmosphere without being overwhelmed by large crowds.

November to January is the best time for Christmas markets and museums

Late winter is the best time for budget travelers and carnivals

As a western European country, Belgium is always going to be a relatively expensive place to visit. But if you’re traveling on a shoestring budget, all hope is not lost.

Your best bet is to go between January and March, while the country is recovering from Christmas and New Year’s and daily life slowly gets back to normal. That makes late winter the best time to spot better deals and prices.

In February, carnival celebrations take over the Belgian countryside. But even so, you shouldn’t expect any delays for public transport or disturbances on the road. Hotel accommodations can get more expensive during the carnival season in cities like Binche and Aalst.

The Carnival of Binche is one of Europe’s oldest, with roots in the Middle Ages. During the parade, performers known as Gilles wear elaborate costumes and throw blood oranges at the crowd for good luck. 

Meanwhile in Aalst, you’ll find the biggest carnival celebration in Belgium. Carnivalists frolic through the streets with floats that can take the better part of a year to decorate.

Dedicated to Goddess Parvathi, the idol in the sanctum has three eyes and four arms, with chakra and conch in her hands sitting in the padmasana posture. Built-in Dravidian style architecture, the temple complex also has the beautiful sculptures of Ganesha, Subramanya, Naga, Mahishasura Mardini, Partheeshwara, Chandramouleeshwara, Pranalingeshwara, Nanjundeshwara, Anjaneya, Venkataramana, and Thulasi Gopalakrishna. It is one of the sacred places to visit as part of Karnataka tour packages .

Bhatkal is another picturesque place that one must visit while on the way to Murudeshwar from Mangalore, among the best tourist places in Karnataka . Bhatkal is a historical & ancient port town located on NH17 near Murudeshwar, one of the best places to visit during your Karnataka tour . Bhatkal was the main port during the Vijayanagar kingdom in the 16th century. The town is home to several temples of Vijaynagar times and many ancient Jain monuments. Kethapayya Narayan temple in Mud Bhatkal is the best example of its rich heritage. The Jain temples of Chandranath Basadi and Parshwanath Basadi are ancient structures that have stood the ravages of time. The picturesque Bhatkal Beach is another attraction of Bhatkal.

I thoroughly enjoyed the David Einhorn and Chuck Akre episodes.

What a bust, too early, reverse split, company sold for under 100m. This was poorly documented, if the founders had any conviction they wouldn’t have sold for Pennie’s on the dollar. I am sure Mr. S, had no idea, and it was high flying times summer of 2021, but please…maybe curb tour enthusiasm.

Best Investing Podcast out there hosted by one of the best interviewers out there

Patrick filled a niche in the investing podcast world. He is able to talk broadly about investing with his guests through extremely knowledgeable framework of investing. He has had some fantastic guests on. There is much more to take away from this podcast that just investing themes. I am very excited to see who else Patrick is able to bring on and interview. I would vote for longer interviews, but understandable that the guests he brings on are time constrained.
