HOUSTON – The 2022 Tour de Houston is finally underway after a two year-hiatus.

The 15th annual event, hosted by Apache is a fundraising bike ride that benefits Houston’s Reforestation Program, giving Houstonians and visitors a different way to view the city through bike routes, according to the City of Houston.

Recommended Videos

Mayor Sylvester Turner said the event had to be postponed in the past two years due to the pandemic.

This year, the route is headed west toward areas such as Memorial Park, Katy, and Spring Branch, with three ride length options for riders, each with different finish lines. Mayor Turner says the route makes the Tour de Houston a perfect event for leisure riders or cycling enthusiasts.

“It’s not a race, every rider comes at their own pace,” he said. “We have families here, we have kids. It’s one of those opportunities to be on the outside, and enjoy the beauty of Houston.”

For riders Penelope Verhaert and Cesar Ruiz, participating in the Tour for the first time is special to them.

“It’s super special after the pandemic. Seeing a lot of people together, it’s been a hard couple of years, so it’s pretty nice.” said Verhaert,

The race will begin at Hermann Square near City Hall in downtown, then will head towards Landrum Middle School, Lee Middle School, and Thornton Middle School.

After the event, riders can enjoy a party that includes food and drinks for a job well done.

Each year, the Houston International Quilt Festival gets bigger and better and this year promises to be as exciting as ever as the city rolls out the red carpet to quilt enthusiasts. Year after year our Houston guests tell us this is the most fun they have ever had at a quilt show!

It has been said that visiting the Houston International Quilt Festival is like visiting an art museum. Each year, quilters from around the world have the opportunity to display their quilts and the final juried pieces are both unique and beautiful. We have added this exceptional tour at the request of our international friends in Canada, Europe, Africa, New Zealand, Australia. the United Kingdom, and others; but we are happy for anyone to join us, no matter where you live.

Our hotel rooms are at the beautiful and convenient convention center hotel, the Hilton America’s Houston, making it easy and quick for you to go to the show, attend classes and participate in all of the Quilts Inc. and IQA activities without the need of transportation or the hassle of waiting for a show shuttle. Prior to the show we will enjoy the Texas quilt museum, quilt shop stops, a special visit to the beautiful Mercer Botanical Gardens and Historic Old Town Spring, as well as additional activities. You may also attend the Gala grand opening night of the show and you will have plenty of free time to participate in one of the many workshops and lectures offered. 

We are not able to provide information about Quilt Festival workshops or classes. However, it is available from Quilts Inc. Please go to www.quilts.com at any time to get on the mailing lists for the festival schedule. There is a slight charge for the mailed catalog, however, class catalogs are posted online at the same time the printed catalog is released. Note: The Festival brochure with the list of classes will not be available until mid-July, 2022. After this time class information will be available at the quilts.com website.

How do I get the AXS App?

The AXS App is free to download and available in the App Store or Google Play. To login, use the same email address you used when purchasing your tickets. You can also download the Houston Rockets app to enter Toyota Center for events. 

How do I use the AXS App to enter the building?

• Open the AXS App
• From the “Home” screen tap the ticket icon at the bottom of the screen
• Login to your account entering the email address used to purchase the tickets
• (If you can’t remember your password, tap Forgot Password and follow the instructions sent to your email)
• Browse your upcoming events and tap the one you want to view
• Tap “View Barcode” and present QR code at the door to be scanned for entry to Toyota Center

How do I access my Parking pass?

Your parking pass for the Toyota Tundra garage will load like a ticket with a barcode to be scanned as you enter the garage.

Can I print my tickets?

AXS Mobile ID tickets are digital and cannot be printed for venue entry.

Are screenshots of the barcode valid for entry?

No, tickets must be scanned through the AXS App.

Can I have multiple tickets on one phone?

Yes. However, we recommend that you transfer tickets to each person attending the event.

What if I don’t have a smartphone?

Please bring a valid photo ID and the card you used to purchase the tickets to the Toyota Center box office.

How far in advance can I access my tickets?

Unless otherwise noted, tickets are accessible on the AXS app and ready to manage as soon as the purchase is complete. Ability to transfer and/or sell tickets varies by show and is subject to change.

What should I bring to an event?

• Wallet with photo ID
• The card you used to purchase your tickets

What if I need help on an event day?

Please visit the Toyota Center Box Office where one of our ticket resolutions associates will assist you.

How do I transfer tickets?

Transferring tickets allows you to send tickets electronically to anyone with a valid email address. Once the recipient logs in and accepts the tickets, they will be able to view the barcode.

• Tap the ticket icon at the bottom of the screen
• Tap "Transfer"
• Enter the recipients first & last name followed by their email address
• Tap 'Continue'
• Review the information and tap 'Transfer'

The recipient will receive an email with a link to download the AXS app and retrieve their tickets.

What is the venue Bag Policy?

No bags are allowed except for medical reasons, diaper bags, and a clutch smaller than 5.5" X 8.5" for all events.
