The Farm Experience is NOW OPEN!

The Country Bee Farm Experience allows you to experience the back of our farm and meet the animals on a self guided tour. This tour is open May-October each year, varying dates depending on what mother nature gives us for weather. We have acres of sunflowers that bloom across 3 acres of open land, you enjoy this on your walk to that back of the farm. Every year we welcome new babies throughout the summer. You never really know what your going to get. In late August of 2023 we were surprised with 10 piglets….

A field full of vibrant pollinator-friendly flowers and sunflowers to help you escape your busy life, and enjoy nature’s beauty. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in life that we forget to stop and smell the flowers… and that is exactly what you can do here. A variety of flowers bloom throughout the summer, with the main flower fields being in bloom from late July through to August.

While wandering through our upper gardens you can meet and feed a variety of farm animals including goats, sheep, pigs, birds, hair sheep, emus, alpacas, baby chicks, miniature donkeys and a miniature pony! Grab a treat from our café to enjoy at one of the picnic tables located in the field or find some shade under the gazebo. A great outdoor adventure for families and nature enthusiasts!

In 2022 we introduced our pollinating pole, wooden sculptures, informational boards about bees, pollinators, and all our animals, it really brings the back garden to life!

The Farm Experience is officially open for the 2024 season! Daily wrist bands are available, as well as season passes. Passes can be purchased in store or through our online shop .

In 2015 Jason and Lindsay took a hard look at their big city life and it was abundantly clear they weren’t living the life they wanted. So they took a giant leap of faith and purchased an 11 acre farm in the town that Lindsay grew up in.

If you’ve driven by the property you’ll notice that there is a lot going on, and a lot more to come. We have beautiful walking gardens, animal pens for the kids, and picnic tables for you to sit and enjoy a coffee and honey treat at. Come into our store to try all the fabulous  honeys  we have. The honey tasting bar is full of delicious choices.

Whiskey Infused Honey 250g

Whiskey Infused Honey

We take used Whiskey barrels from DeVine Vineyards and fill them with our Blueberry Honey. Then we age the honey for 5-6 weeks. The honey pulls moisture out of anything surrounding it, including the wood. The wood starts to crack and the honey starts leaking out, that’s when we know it’s done. You’ve never tried anything like this before. Try it on cheeses, paired with desserts, or in your morning coffee. The opportunities are endless!

Hot Pepper Infused Honey 250g

Hot Pepper Infused Honey

The honey pulls all the delicious flavours and oils out of the the peppers. It warms your mouth and gives a nice heat, but not too hot. This is one of our personal favourites. We put this sh#t on everything! Try it on cheeses, in marinades, or drizzled over apple pie and ice cream. The choices are endless.

These elegant tapered candles are hand dipped the ‘old way’. The act of creating a candle with repetitive dips into a gorgeous smelling vat of pure beeswax, produces a long even burning candle.

Blueberry Honey

Our local Vancouver Blueberry honey is a crowd favorite. A beautiful sweetness that fills your mouth with aroma. This honey doesn’t taste like blueberries, instead the flavor takes on an almost cinnamon taste.

Bee venom ointment (venex)

Venex Bee Venom Ointment

The most active ingredient in Venex ointment is bee venom. Bee venom contains powerful anti-inflammatory properties and can be used to decrease inflammation of the skin. It can also benefit people with rheumatoid arthritis. Venex ointment stimulates the skin to produce extra cortisone. This helps speed up the healing process in a natural way.

Creamed Honey

Naturally crystallized, maintaining small sugar molecules to give it the soft, smooth, creamy texture you know and love. Great on toast, in hot drinks or on a spoon. This no-drip honey is delicious. Produced from Alberta beehives.

farm tour victoria bc

Creamed Cinnamon Honey

A piece of toast with this honey spread across it is amazing! This honey has a delicate cinnamon flavour to it and a no-drip, smooth texture. The honey gets its creamy texture from naturally getting crystallized, maintaining small sugar molecules. Due to it already being crystallized it won’t harden if it’s on your shelf for some time. You can’t go wrong with this one.

Lavender Infused Honey 250g

Lavender Infused Honey

We infuse our local Blueberry Honey with local Lavender grown on the farm to create this delicious Lavender Infused Honey. This honey is excellent used on scones or in teas. Makes a delightful simple syrup for cocktails or lemonade. Try it drizzled over baked fruit or brie.

BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation

Ways to Give

Farm Tours & Field Trips

Connecting students to agriculture — on the farm .

Farming is a business, but it’s also a way of life that affects all of us at home and within our communities. Taking your classroom to a farm gives your students a firsthand glimpse into our province’s food suppliers and what it means to be a farmer, the multifaceted role a farmer plays as steward of the land, and what’s involved in caring for livestock. It’s also a chance to get up close to some pretty cool machines. Many farms in BC open their gates and barns for tours, and each one offers a unique and fun experience for students.

To find a farm tour or agricultural field trip near you, locate your region on the map, then see the corresponding list of tours and trips in that area. Rates vary where applicable.

Agri-Tourism & Cuisine

Farm to table.

Farmers and specialty producers along the Fraser Canyon and in the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast welcome the chance to share with road-trippers the art, science and dedication involved in raising livestock and growing crops, including their efforts to maintain sustainable farm and ranch ecosystems featuring healthy soils and free-range pasture lands. The South Cariboo is young in terms of grape production, for example. But the vines at Fort Berens Estate Winery in Lillooet dig deep into soil enriched by 150 years of melon, tomato and alfalfa production – a factor, perhaps, in why the winery continues to make the headlines. Since 2012 the BC vineyard has won many gold, silver and bronze medals at international competitions, including gold medals in 2012, 2013 and 2014 at the prestigious Los Angeles International Wine and Spirits Competition. Most recently, the Lillooet area has evolved into a hotbed for hop growers who are helping fuel the rise of BC ’s burgeoning craft-beer industry. In 2013, the organic hops grown by Lillooet’s Bitterbine Hop Company were used by Vancouver’s Powell Street Craft Brewery to produce the Canadian Brewing Awards’ Beer of the Year. The presence of local hop farms also enables BC brewers to craft new, trend-setting products such as “fresh-hopped” beer, made by adding hops to brews within 24 hours of harvest. Backstories such as these are important to those with discerning palates, and for consumers increasingly aware that local, sustainably grown foods are vital to health and well-being and for reducing the environmental impact of long-distance shipping and the need for food stabilizers and other preservatives. The Chilcotin River Valley, guests can overnight on a 1,600hec/3,954ac property serving home-grown organic produce as well as grass-fed meats processed in the ranch’s own abattoir. Also in the North Cariboo, organic producers entice with the uniquely sweet taste of birch syrup tapped fresh from the tree, including a novel birch syrup BBQ sauce, and the historic town of Barkerville serves dishes re-created from the 1800s.

Festivals, Markets & Eateries

The fresh culinary perspective gained in exploring regional flavours is further honed with visits to agricultural fairs and festivals. August’s South Cariboo Garlic Festival in Lac la Hache sees both serious and casual foodies lining up for garlic poutine, panini and gyoza against a backdrop of family fun, live music and a Master Garlic Chef Cook-Off. Many local fairs also showcase youth 4-H competitions highlighting the rewards of raising livestock and growing crops while acquiring life skills. The central Cariboo features such delicacies as the Marguerite and Soda Creek areas’ sweet corn on the cob. From July through October, don’t miss the unique experience of the Cariboo Corn Maze at the Austrailian Ranch on Hwy. 97. Local restaurants and eateries are similarly diverse, from popular food chains along Gold Rush Trail routes to sophisticated dining options scattered throughout the region, where tempting meals are lovingly made with, of course, fresh, local ingredients. Other operators in the region, including B&Bs, open their barn doors so visitors can appreciate the fine art of “farming with the season” while sampling and purchasing local delicacies. Several also offer “Bed and Bale” for those travelling with equine companions. As well, many communities host weekly farmers markets, often with local arts and crafts showcased. At the Bella Coola market, for instance, travellers can stock up on fresh produce and sample regional specialties including fruits, jams, jellies, preserves, and fresh-baked goods as well as browsing garden plants, handmade jewellery, artwork, soaps, ointments, handmade fabric products, wood crafts and more. Gourmands touring the area are encouraged to keep their eyes peeled for farm-gate offerings of sweet Walla Walla onions, Russian red garlic and sun-loving Kentucky wonder yellow beans.

About British Columbia

In Canada’s westernmost province, fresh local bounty, talented chefs, and a melting pot of cultures combine to make British Columbia a top culinary destination. It’s a rich tapestry supported by farmers, growers, and producers whose ingredients shape menus in communities along the Pacific Ocean, in the Rocky Mountains, and everywhere in between.

Here, Indigenous cultures who have been nurturing the land for millennia showcase traditional offerings with a modern twist. Other multicultural influences inspire chefs and artisan food producers to blend local ingredients with global flavours. Dishes also vary widely, depending on place, creating distinctive regional dining scenes—from wild salmon sushi in Tofino to down-home guest ranch cooking in the Cariboo to delicate dim sum in Richmond.  Victoria, the province’s capital, boasts more restaurants per capita than almost anywhere else in Canada, while Vancouver, BC’s most populous city, was recently recognized with several MICHELIN Stars, further elevating the city’s reputation as an international dining destination. Wine touring, spirits, and local beer are hugely popular here, too, in the Fraser Valley near Vancouver, on Vancouver Island, and especially along the Okanagan Valley lakeside, where seasonal pours provide the perfect finish to a day of hiking, biking, and swimming.

Why you should visit Victoria, Vancouver's little sister with a big history

British Columbia’s capital has grand architecture, First Nations art and Canada’s oldest Chinatown, all fringed by easily accessible wilderness.

A picture of the central area of Victoria, the capital of British Columbia. The architecture is traditional, and in the foreground sailboats dock in calm waters.

On the southern tip of Vancouver Island, sailboats bob in Victoria’s harbour and chateau-style buildings stand beside leafy parks. The gentle pace of life in British Columbia’s compact capital is part of its appeal, yet it’s far from a provincial backwater. An easy journey from Vancouver, the city has excellent neighbourhood restaurants, breweries and coffee shops, while its museums and galleries showcase the region’s Indigenous heritage. It’s also surrounded by wild landscapes and makes a natural jumping-off point for whale-watching.

Presiding over the harbour, the British Columbia Parliament Buildings are the city’s centrepiece, an 1890s icon whose marbled interiors are open for free daytime tours. Across the street, the Fairmont Empress is one of Canada’s grandest hotels, with Elizabeth II and Rudyard Kipling among its storied guests. Afternoon tea in the opulent Lobby Lounge is one of Victoria’s quintessential experiences.

Through first-class exhibits, the Royal BC Museum delves deep into the province’s natural past (look out for the life-sized woolly mammoth), as well as its rich First Nations heritage. There are more than 225,000 artefacts in its collection, from masks belonging to the Haida people to traditional clothing from the Nlaka’pamux. Adjoining the museum is Thunderbird Park, named after the legendary bird and home to some of the museum’s most spectacular totem poles.

There’s much to discover in lively Downtown. Bibliophiles will love browsing the shelves at Munro’s Books , a shop housed in a former bank, with its coffered ceiling and spectacular painted textiles by local artist Carole Sabiston. The Mark Loria Gallery , meanwhile, specialises in contemporary Canadian Indigenous art.

Victoria’s Chinatown   is the oldest in Canada, home to retro neon signs and restaurants such as Don Mee , which has served dim sum for more than 80 years. Fan Tan Alley claims to be one of the world’s narrowest streets; squeeze along the lantern-festooned lane for a range of quirky boutiques, from Saltspring Soapworks , which sells natural body-care products, to Just Matcha , which stocks premium-grade tea. Close by is Habit Coffee , a laid-back cafe with local art on its exposed-brick walls and Victorian suppliers on its menu — stop by to pick up beans from Bows Coffee Roasters or teas from Earth’s Herbal, both based in the city.

There’s more BC produce on offer at Wind Cries Mary , a moodily lit Downtown spot where the province’s oysters, mussels and salmon prop up a menu of sharing plates and cocktails. On the harbourfront, Red Fish Blue Fish is the place to go for jerk fish poutine, a fiery take on the Canadian classic.

If brunch is on the cards, try John’s Place , a kitsch, old-school spot serving waffles, pancakes and ‘Bat Out Of Hell meatloaf and eggs’, or head for the bubblegum-pink Floyd’s Diner in James Bay, where asking for ‘The Mahoney’ will get you whatever takes the chef’s fancy. For a tipple, Downtown’s Citrus & Cane mixes killer cocktails with a tropical twist (try the ‘ooh dat’s spicy’, made with Sons of Vancouver chilli vodka), while Boomtown serves a raft of BC porters and pale ales in its beer garden.

But there’s no resisting the call of the wild, with the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail, Goldstream Provincial Park and The Butchart Gardens within easy reach of the city. Dallas Road is also worth a drive or cycle — start in Fisherman’s Wharf Park, near the harbour, and wind east for six miles past beaches, bays and Beacon Hill Park, home to the world’s tallest freestanding totem pole at 128ft, before calling at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel . It makes an elegant stop for a glass of wine from BC’s Okanagan Valley, with views across to the Chatham Islands. For whale-watching, try Eagle Wing Tours; between June and October is the best time to spot Victoria’s marine residents.

Three wildlife spotting adventures in Victoria

1. Juan de Fuca marine Trail Keep eyes peeled for black bears on this 29-mile route through dense forests, over river gorges and along secluded beaches. It takes three to five days to complete, and there are chances to refuel at rustic diners along the way.

2.   Goldstream Provincial Park A naturalist’s paradise, this park has quiet forest walking trails, plunging waterfalls and a challenging climb to the top of the 1,375ft-tall Mount Finlayson, with bald eagles screeching overhead. Autumn sees the spectacular salmon run, too.

3.   Eagle Wing Tours This family-run company offers whale-watching trips in the Salish Sea with a team of guides. Seeing a pod of orcas or a humpback is a true highlight of a trip to Victoria, but ospreys, sea otters and elephant seals can also be spotted among the craggy islets on these three- to four-hour trips.
