1/2 Day Fishing Trips

9/7/2024 The Dolphin AM 285 Bonito, 63 Calico Bass (100 Released) 4 Sheephead for 57 anglers. The Dolphin PM caught 73 Bonito, 76 Calico Bass (100 Released) and 14 Sheepshead for 53 anglers. The Condor called in with 33 Bluefin Tuna on their 1.5 Day Charter. Still Fishing. The Tradition called in with 44 Bluefin Tuna for 25 anglers on their 1.5 Day trip.  The Pegasus called in with LIMITS (40) of Bluefin Tuna (mostly 40 - 80lbs and 7 over 100lbs) for 10 anglers on their 2.5 day charter.  The Fortune called in with 25 Bluefin Tuna for 18 anglers on their 2 day trip. 9/6/2024 The Dolphin AM caught LIMITS of Calico Bass (65) / 100 Calico Bass Released, 40 Bonito, 7 Sheephead, 10 Rockfish for 13 anglers. The Tomahawk returned this morning with 11 Bluefin Tuna for 19 anglers on their 1.5 day charter.  The Fortune returned this morning with 74 Bluefin Tuna (up to 180 lbs.) and 2 Yellowtail for 14 anglers on a 3.5 day trip. 

The Pacific Dawn is returning this morning with 60 Bluefin Tuna (up to 175 lbs.) for 16 anglers on a 2.5 day trip.  The Pacific Queen returned this morning with LIMITS (144) of Bluefin Tuna and 1 Yellowtail for 24 anglers on a 3.5 day trip.  The Condor returned this morning with 34 Bluefin Tuna (17 @ 100 - 220lbs) for 32 anglers on their 2 day trip.

I have deep sea fished for over 35 years and used many fleets but have found the best for many reasons: The crew, Brandon and Ricky were beyond nice, knowledgeable, and helpful, and patient with those who were a noob. All bait was provided, included were large minnows which is rare. Cleaning your fish of course was provided and Ricky did it excellently with plenty of filet and a nominal price. I chartered the Gulf Stream trip.

Highly recommend this company. I usually book them every other month for the gulf stream trips. Staff are incredibly friendly, accommodating and hardworking. Always have positive interactions with them. Captain Josh is a class act and will put you on big fish. He and his mates have made me a repeat customer. Always a pleasure fishing with them. And the kind women who answers the phone and checks me in, she's also wonderful. This fleet has good vibes all around.

We had a great fishing trip and would totally go again. The water was choppy when we first set out, so mostly everyone was soaked by the waves but no one seemed to mind too much. It was much calmer going back in the evening. The boat took us somewhere 18-20 miles off shore.

Josh and Rex killed it all day, they even came around and helped the kids catch fish when they weren’t pulling fish off the hooks and baiting everyone’s hooks

Great experience!!! The crew were very laid back and easy to talk to. Josh and Dave were constantly giving tips and moving to new spots, to enhance the experience! We caught a lot of fish. They filleted them right there on the dock! ( The pelicans loved them for it!) Great experience; would go there again!!!!

The Little River Fishing Fleet did not disappoint. The boat was clean, provided us with plenty of bait and most importantly, Captain Brandon put us on the fish! We had an amazing fishing experience for several reasons. We had one of the most hard working, dedicated and experienced First Mate on board, Rick. Between Rick and Capt Brandon, they both were there to assist with anything and everything, from tangles to baiting our hooks as well as fishing tips. A huge thanks to Capt Brandon and Rick and I look forward to seeing you guys again (soon).

When it comes to private charters it doesn’t get better than Little River Fishing Fleet. Josh and Dawson are the best!!!! They kept my 10 years old son busy all day. If you want fish in the cooler see these guys!!!

I highly recommend Little River Fishing Fleet for anyone looking for a great affordable fishing experience. We went on a 4 hour shark fishing charter and as you can see by the picture, it did not disappoint. Captain Brandon did a great job placing us on the fish. Additionally, deck hand Ricky was as great of a deck hand as you could expect. We never had to wait for more than a few seconds before he was there to help. I will definitely be booking another charter with them next time I’m at Myrtle Beach.

We had an awesome fishing experience with Captain Robert and first mate David. Both made our experience first rate. Everyone had a great time from grandma and grandpa all the way to the kids. We will definitely sail with them again.

Took my two boys (9 &10) shark and bottom fishing. We caught so many fish (sea bass) and had a few keepers. We caught a small shark and an octopus too. Captain Tab and First mate Kelly were so friendly and helpful, especially helpful with the two boys while landing fish. I will definitely book another trip with Little River Fishing Fleet and I will ask for Captain Tab and Kelly again if possible.

Awesome awesome job from captain Josh and helper Lee!! Couldn't have asked for better. Had 1/2 day deep sea fishing with my family, 12 of us. We all caught multiple fish and had the best time. Highly highly recommend but ask for these 2 specifically!!

I just got back from the best fishing trip I've ever had. Brandon and Ricky Made the entire experience awesome. I've never seen anyone work as hard as Ricky did and both of these gentlemen wanted nothing more than to make our day a great success. Went out on Tuesday with Captain Lee and First Mate Henry who are awesome!! Both of them were very personable and helped with lines, bait and finding the best fishing spots. There were only 8 people fishing for the 9-1 pm trip and our lines were always baited and they took off the small fish to throw back. We had several Black Sea bass keepers and had the most wonderful day on the water. On the way back in, the dolphins were cresting the water and Captain Lee circled the boat around them so we could watch and enjoy 🐬 highly recommended!

We took our very first fishing trip in May. We had a fantastic experience ! Our Captain was Brittany and she made sure we brought home some fish! My friend and I went on the half day specialty fishing tour with Captain Lee and Alex, we had a blast! I had never fished before and it had been a few years for my friend, and they both made us feel safe and comfortable. Captain Lee and Alex were there to assist putting bait on the hook and cheering us on when we caught any fish. Couldn’t have been a better charter, we recommend for ALL!! Tip the crew they deserve it!

Went on a 11 hour gulf stream fishing trip today on the Southern Tide. Capt. Lee and mate Dawson were awesome. He put us on the fish all day. They were attentive to everyone. The laughs were flowing. If I get the chace I will definitely come back and go fishing with ya'll again. Guys get some new batteries in those scales. Ya'll are really good. Couldn't of landed the grouper withou your help

Frequently Asked Questions

Do i need a fishing license.

You are covered under our fishing license. Also, we’ll provide the rod, reel, tackle, and bait. You provide the smiles and sense of adventure.

What am I going to catch?

On the shorter trips, you’ll catch a lot of fish, but due to federal regulations, you’ll have to throw a lot of them back. The further out the trip goes, the more fish you are able to catch, keep, and bring back to the dock with you. Our experienced Captains will always do their best to put you on the fish. Call us in the office to find out what’s currently being caught.

Where does the boat depart?

We have two different departure points. The Little River waterfront and the Calabash waterfront. Both are close to the inlet and allow for maximum fishing time. We’ll give you exact directions when you book your trip, or you can call us for more specifics at 843-361-3323

Is this family friendly?

Yes! We love to take kids fishing, however we don’t recommend that children 4 and under venture out onto the high seas for personal safety reasons. With a mate to help bait hooks and remove fish, this is the perfect chance to take those above 4 out for a day on the water.

We booked a half-day afternoon fishing charter on the Swell Chaser. Booking was easy and communication was great. We were in town for a family reunion over the Christmas holiday and didn’t have high expectations for that time of year, but we wanted to get out on the water anyway. Capt. Hale texted me and let me know that they had better success in the morning the day before, so we showed up a couple hours earlier and were rewarded for our efforts. We landed yellowtail and rockfish and were able to leave the dock with fish taco and ceviche ingredients for the rest of our vacation. We had three adults and three teenagers on the boat and we all had a blast! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Coletta Sportfishing to anyone planning to be in the San Diego area that wants to have a great time on the water. We’ll definitely be back!

What a fantastic day we had with Coletta Sport Fishing. Capt. Jon and First Mate Hale clearly wanted to give us a satisfying fishing adventure, but with Military personnel onboard, we were reluctant to hit Mexican waters. Undaunted, the Crew worked their tails off to find fish! They were constantly scanning with binoculars, seeking intel from their well-developed stash of seafaring cronies, and reading the fish finder gizmos on this well-equipped vessel. Again and again we stopped at the kelp beds that litter the coastline and hit fish! It only got better on the way in when we found a school of hungry Yellow Tail. The crew truly enjoys what they do! We stayed out an additional hour and a half as we doubled our morning take and filled the bag. True fishermen, Brian and Hale couldn’t find it in themselves to quit when the catching was so good! Should you be interested in a kid-friendly boat, it was noteworthy that no F-Bombs we heard the whole day; the crew was not opposed to helping bait hooks and untangle little mess ups; and, fist-bumps and photos abounded. What a memorable time we had! Thank you Chris, Jon, and Hale! Oh, did I mention, 35 Pound Yellow Tail!!!

Looking for a top rated charter for my son-in law’s birthday and his first fish. Didn’t want to chance another party boat which we have already tried with no luck and lots of tangled lines. After fishing all over the mainland US and Hawaii for 50+ years I recently moved to San Diego so I wanted to find someone interested in repeat business as well. Coletta ratings were very good, reviews were as well. I called and left a message for Chris before booking, he called me back within 10 minutes and asked me all kinds of questions about my fishing experience and expectations, not just about my credit card numbers. He set us up for a 3/4 day local on the Wanu with Capt. Hale and mate Nick. Hale and Nick both grew up locally, were impressive in their fishing knowledge and fun to fish with. As soon as we would reach a spot they both worked to setup our lines and kept us engaged with tips, tricks and local info. We were on fish on the first drift! Over the course of the day we caught 21 rockfish + Mako and had a heck of a time! We are already planning for an off-shore trip. Chris & his team lived up to the “top rated” reviews, book early!

We chartered a 1/2 day trip Saturday the 30th, and it was amazing. Captain Chris made easy arrangements and John and Hale ran the boat. We worked pretty hard for rockfish, but my son made everyone’s day by hauling in a 30 pound yellowtail! The kids had a blast on the way in by throwing the remaining live bait to the swarms of pelicans and gulls! Couldn’t have been better.

Had an awesome afternoon fishing with Hale and Chuck. It was nonstop action particularly with calico bass with an added challenge of competing with a harbor seal :). We learned a lot about using live bait, casting and reeling techniques and the different kinds of fish we caught and had a really great time. True professionals and down to earth so I highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for a charter. We’ll be booking again for sure.

ooked a half-day charter for May 25 for myself, son and his friend. Cap’n Chris and first mate Chuck were great. We hooked up some small/medium-sized rock fish despite windy conditions. Then anchored nearer shore for some sea bass angling. I was happy they were so helpful with us novices, explaining gear and technique. We made a nice little haul-enough for a few fish fry’s. I reached out to Chris at Coletta Sport Fishing to see what trips he might have available on short notice and what fish may be running. Chris was very personable, offered me some times of open and recently rescheduled trips and described the conditions. He said we could fish for rock fish and other bottom dwellers, or Tuna was running, a little further out, no guarantee to catch one (nor did I expect a guarantee), but the better target for real fishing was the Tuna. My son and I showed up for the morning for a 1/2 day trip, The Captain Brian, told us the same thing, and off we went for Tuna off San Diego. About 1 hour out with Brian’s watchful eye and binoculars he spotted a school/swarm of Tuna, and with their help we got hooks in the water quickly and nailed a small yellow fin. Then they moved away, we kept on their trail, by the end of the 1/2 day we had caught 8 Tuna, 7, blue fin, one yellow fin, over 200 pounds of fish. It was a great time. We had a blast with Coletta Sportfishing! We caught 35 Rockfish during our 1/2 day trip! Captain Hale & Nick were awesome and extremely helpful with our young kids. They were unbelievably fast at getting poles back in the water after each catch. We plan on coming back next year for sure!

My husband, in his early 30s, had never caught a fish before so for his birthday I set up a trip with Coletta fishing. We are local to San Diego and, although we’ve been on the water plenty of times, we’ve never been fishing! We had such a blast with Captain Jon and Hale. It felt more like hanging out with friends and fishing, which we really liked. They were both super helpful and patient with us newbies and even offered to take us back for some bay fishing after we both started feeling a bit seasick. Me and my family had an incredible day of fishing with Coletta. Chris was so helpful and informative the whole time. Captain Brian was great with all of us, he never stopped looking for fish, we caught a ton of yellowtail. He also made sure to point out dolphin, hammerheads, whales and sea turtles. Oh yeah, and we caught a ton of fish. It was the first time for my daughter (13) and wife, Brian and Mat we really helpful and patient. My son (16) and I got to reel in a lot of fish. We had two boats (Chris made special arrangements) go out with 4 people on each boat competing for most fish and biggest catch. The crew was great and chipped in a few fish each, and our boat won with a few nice Bonito. Overall I think it was a pretty slow fishing day, we cleaned up mostly with bottom fish like Rockfish and whatnot, but even they were fun. Great weather, exceptional service, cold beer, great day. Wished the fish were biting more but hey, who can complain?

We had an amazing time with Coletta Sportfishing! We did a half day trip in the afternoon in early October with a group of 5. The crew was amazing. They were very friendly and fun to hang out with! We caught a bunch of fish and went home with a big bag of fresh fillets which we cooked up that night! All in all it was a great experience. Went on a 3/4 day fishing trip and came back with tons of fish!!! Highlights were a 30lbs yellowtail and 2 unexpected halibut! We also caught plenty of bonito. The crew and service were just as awesome as the fishing. I called Chris the owner and he answered all my questions and was really great about explaining everything. The crew were great too. Capt. Wanted to take the family out on a half day fishing trip and we had the best time every! We live in San Diego and have been out a few times, but Coletta Sport Fishing trips are always the best! Our guides, Trevor and John were very professional, and helped us with everything! It was the perfect fishing trip with a great boat! They were full of energy, happy to be out on the water, and very knowledgable. After a slow start, they became strategic and eventually landed us an awesome haul of rockfish. On the way back, as Trevor was cleaning our fish, they spotted about a hundred dolphins flying by. We got there and the crew and boat were ready to go. We went out with captin Brian and Trevor on the Wanu. After a quick safety talk and what to expect we started out. As soon as we hit the fishing grounds and line hit the water we started catching fish. The crew did a great job with my whole family. The kids (6&12) they made sure they had fun and stayed safe. As an added bonus we got to see a whale, several pods of dolphins, and some sea lions. This was a great experience all around. Would highly recommend and im already starting to plan my next trip around doing it again.

One, two, and three day six-pack , long range fishing charter - san diego.

Multi-day offshore sportfishing is the top trip we offer. These trips give you the time and range to explore MULTIPLE destinations. You can also go to the furthest spots out like the Tanner Bank and Cortez Bank, up to 100 miles offshore. You will enjoy unpressured fish schools that are eager to bite, and fish spots that are uncrowded and have prolific pelagic fishing.  All travel is done in the dark while you sleep, both out and back in. When you wake up in the morning you will be sitting on top of the BLUEFIN , YELLOWFIN , and DORADO .

Coffee, Water, Soda, and Snacks all being included. This trip includes morning donuts and coffee and lunch and dinner! All hand made and fresh, Carne Asada, Chicken, or Fish, or by request.

All of our private charter have your private group being taken care of by a Captain, and two crew. Price includes Fuel, Bait, Boat, Tackle, and Rod & Reel rentals.

Arguably the best fighting fish for its weight, and they can get up to 300 pounds each!

YELLOWFIN TUNA

Although smaller than the Bluefin, this ferocious fish puts up a fight you will not soon forget.

This is the big one. If you hook up on this you will be in the fight of your life. These fish way hundreds of pounds!

Not technically a tuna, but in the same weight class, it  is known for the best tasting sashimi on earth.

The colorful skin of this fish is iridescent! It is also known for its high flying antics.

This beautiful fish is an exotic species that you have to target at deep depths.

On Multiday trips we will always be specifically targeting bluefin and yellowfin tuna. Also, in the general area there will also be Dorado and Yellowtail on almost every patty you come across. If we see this we will stop and throw lighter tackle at it.  However, for TUNA fishing, a ll equipment on the boat will be geared toward 200lb+ max fish size, and you very well may find it on this trip. The boat will also be equipped with species specific bait, the frozen flying fish. In addition to these prized catches, multi-day charters in the Mexico offer an exciting opportunity to reel in a variety of other species .

Basically, the further south you go, the longer  you can extend the fishing season. If you are willing to head far south into Mexican waters, you can fish all the way into December. The never ending summer, just head further south.

On Multiday trips we will always be specifically targeting bluefin and yellowfin tuna. All equipment on the boat will be geared toward 200lb+ max fish size, and you very well may find it on this trip. The boat will also be equipped with species specific bait, the frozen flying fish. The cotton candy that tuna can not resist. When hoisted high on the kite, the bluefin only see their favorite food jumping in the water. No boat, no line, and no reason not to eat it, that is why its so effective. That is what make these multi day tuna trip so special. You definitely dont find this type of fishing on an overstuffed party boat.

Aside from Kite fishing, which is our clear favorite, we will also be trolling, looking for patties, bird action, surface action, and on top of all of that we are intently watching our binocoulars, sonar, and listening to the radio!

If you do not have fishing gear, we have rods and reels to rent from $18, and a day license for anyone over 16 years of age is required.

Departing beautiful Harbor Island Park in Mamaroneck, NY, our Summer Camp is sure to be the talk of the Summer! We will be sailing aboard the 60’ SOUND BOUND ESCAPE, fishing the SCENIC, CALM WATERS OF THE WESTERN LONG ISLAND SOUND. All trips sail under the command of a fully USCG licensed Captain, with 2 trained crew members on board to assist the children throughout the entire trip. The Sound Bound Escape is comfortable and roomy, with 2 bathrooms and a large cabin perfect to relax when your little ones need a break. Welcome Aboard! Learn to Fish and Have Fun at Our Weekly Fishing Camp! Your child will learn valuable hands-on skills from trained professionals, including knot-tying, navigation basics, water safety, fish identification & conservation, and even take home their legal catch for family dinner! Imagine the look of pride at the table knowing they brought home the meal! They'll have that chance along with so many more priceless memories this summer! Before the week is out, your child will show a substantial improvement in their fishing abilities along with an in-depth knowledge of our local waters and what lives in it.
