24 Modern Interior Ideas For RVs & Campers (With Pictures)

' src=

We have remodeled to campers over the last 3-4 years. It’s amazing how you can transform a camper into a modern living space with few hacks and tricks.

These are the best inspirational ideas we found during the modern interior make-over of our two campers!

It’s a mix of ideas from our own two RVs, RVs we have filmed during the years, and other great ideas.

Table of Contents

Campervans and smaller RVs have become increasingly popular over the last decade.

More and more people are becoming geographically independent and life on the road part-time or full-time. We have heard about this change and the newspapers and local RV resellers. This means that more and more young people are choosing to live in campervans or tents .

Let’s take a look at some of those modern camper vans that have been rebuilt till look amazing.

Bright Colors For A Modern Feel

Let take a look at some good examples of brilliant use of colors in campers.

Here’s a good example of this with modern gray, white, and green colors around the seating area. The top shelves and the wood around the top of the curtains are just perfect in this camper.

Everything is so neat, and the green colors are a fresh touch when blended into the white interior .

travel trailer white interior

As soon as you get rid of the dark and yellow surfaces you can start working toward a more modern and bright color palette.

This is always a good idea for small spaces as they will feel more spacious and bigger when you chose bright colors.

In the example below, they basically painted everything white and built up some new stories and shelving areas.

travel trailer white interior

This is also a great example of how easy you can open up space by painting everything white. Just keep a couple of wooden colors here and there to create some contrast.

Let’s take a look at what we came up with for our own camper remodeling projects.

We started out with a tiny vintage camper from the ’70s and the idea was to turn it into a clean and minimalistic living space. It started out as a yellow and worn down camper and after a year and a lot of sweat and tears this is what it looked like:

Inside our tiny camper wagon

We eventually sold the old tiny camper when we had Max who is 2 years old now. At that point, we really needed to be able to close the door between his nursery and our living space.

When we removed the old yellow and dark shelves we had the opportunity to do something else with the walls. We chose to have white walls with light blue colors on the wallpaper.

The back of the table is covered with the same wallpaper as the wall and you can see it to the right on the image above. It totally blends in with the wallpaper when it’s folded up.

Here you can see the table when folded down. We chose light blue colors because they are “cold” colors and we prefer to camp in warm areas during the summer. So it’s nice to have space feel a little colder.

Fold-down table folded down

You can see more pictures from inside this camper at the bottom of the post.

So we got a bigger caravan camper now which is 15 feet long (4,5 meter). It’s a pretty standard German caravan that you will see all over Europe.

You can see a full tour of the camper we currently use below.

It’s a Hobby caravan from 2004 which we have modified to include:

  • Nursery (cot bed)
  • Office space
  • Change station for a baby

Interior Ideas For Sleeping Areas In Campers (And RVs)

The first example below is a rather small campervan where they have built a raised bed with storage underneath the bed.

This is a clever way of getting extra storage as you don’t need full ceiling height at the sleeping area.

This bed with built-in storage is really beautifully done. The light wood matches the floor and leaves the room with a spacious feeling. The use of wooden colors in this camper is also great. (We will come back to that!)

travel trailer white interior

Everything is made with white and light wooden colors which adds to the spacious feeling in this campervan.

It’s also a really great idea to add some additional lighting around the lines of the ceiling. This adds a lot of coziness to the atmosphere and it can also be used as ambient light at night.

The picture below is taken from the back of a Volkswagen Transporter van.

This is a pretty popular model to turn into a moving living space. Especially if you are looking for a cheap solution.

The Volkswagen Transporter vans have a really good reputation because they tend to work well even when they have been driven a lot of miles.

This is yet another great DIY solution for a campervan with a sleeping area and two sofas in the back. This space can be converted in no time and you will have a nice queen size bed when you need to go to sleep. During the day you will have seating for up to four or five people inside the van if the weather does not invite you outdoors.

travel trailer white interior

This solution is basically just a good idea for the sleeping area if you are rebuilding a van into a motorhome.

In the daytime, the area can be used for sitting, playing, dining and so forth, and in the night time you just fold down the backrest, and voila! You now have a queen size bed !

As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, I have rebuilt to campers with my wife. The bed below is from the camper we currently use.

When we bought the camper it had as U-shaped seating area in this end

We have pulled out the seating area in our camper and installed a modern sofa bed instead. It works just great and now we use this space as a seating area during the day and we can fold the sofa into a bed at night.

Here’s what it looks like during the day and the night:

Modern sofa bed installed in vintage camper

The bed cost us around $800 so it wasn’t that cheap but it has a VERY nice and comfortable mattress that we really enjoy when we are on the road. You can see sofa beds like this one here .

We had the classic U-shaped sofa seating arrangement in this area before and we really felt like it had to go. It was too cramped and we didn’t like sitting there. When you have a 2-year-old toddler in the camper you will have to be on your feet all the time so you don’t want to squeeze in and out behind the table and the sofa.

It says sofa bed which we assembled inside the caravan camper because we couldn’t fit it through the door. It fits the camper perfectly and during nighttime and we can fold down the backrest in order to create a nice (almost) full-size sleeping area.

The Kitchen Space

The kitchen space is often also the main living area, so it’s important to keep it clean and clutter-free – both on a daily basis but also design-wise.

Here are some of the best interior ideas we have come by for remodeling RVs. Let’s start off with a great space for all of us who enjoy a white and minimalistic feel to our RV.

Everything is made to utilize the vertical space and the wallpaper goes well with the white finish on the cabins and the ceiling.

These wooden panels and storage solutions are also very well worked out:

travel trailer white interior

This kitchen area is for the family that really enjoys cooking. There’s plenty of counter space, and everything is neatly organized.

It’s pretty cool to have the fronts of the cabinets and drawers painted white with wooden frames. It looks trendy and up-to-date.

Notice how the counter space is curved in order to fit inside the motorhome floor plan:

travel trailer white interior

The next idea is a fine way to add some storage to the camper.

The sliding cabinet dorrs are stylish and look like the latest styles from the modern caravan and RV manufacturers.

We love these sliding doors as they don’t require space around to open them up. A very cool and innovative way of designing the drawers.

travel trailer white interior

It’s important to be able to close off all the closets during transportation. By adding the little wooden molding on the front off the top shelf you can avoid things from falling out.

This is another fine example of how great it works with light wood colors in campers.

You don’t have to paint everything white. Just keep the natural colors of the wood or choose another light color like the green and blue nuances below.

The dark red/brown colors on the kitchen counters below work wonders for this camper. The kitchen solution utilizes the full width of the caravan and offers a double-sided counter space.

The dark wood really looks great in contrast to the white ceiling and wallpaper:

travel trailer white interior

This is another good example of the effective use of natural wood colors and a white ceiling.

White Peel-off Tiles (Adhesive)

Another neat trick we have used is to cover the kitchen walls with white adhesive tiles.

These are pretty cheap and you can mount them directly on the wooden surface.

Here’s a picture of how it looks in our current camper. We found these adhesive tiles on Amazon. They are sold in sheets you can cut with a scissor.

Here’s a link to the ones we used (Amazon) .

White panels for the kitchen walls

They totally transformed the ugly yellow walls into shiny white tiles which looks a lot like the tiles you would find in a modern bathroom.

Ideas For The Toilet And Shower

The bathroom might not strike you as the most important room in the RV/Motorhome, but nevertheless, it’s most certainly a space you can improve.

Check out this great knitted wallpaper and interior:

travel trailer white interior

If you need to cram in a toilet in a very tight space, you might consider this type of toilet.

travel trailer white interior

It’s a solution we also often find in under-the-stairs bathrooms .

It’s a toilet where you use the spilled water from the sink for flushing the toilet. Many campers have a composting toilet but if you are going for a more regular toilet this could be a really cool solution.

The toilet seat is mounted sideways so you can mount the whole toilet sideways. This way you can access the sink as well. It’s a beautiful and modern design that we found while researching tiny toilet ideas.

Check out these amazing RVs with comfy recliners .

Interior Ideas For The Living Space

As we mentioned above the storage is always critical when it comes to RVs.

Many people forget to built-in enough storage space and then you have to keep boxes and bags in the RV. It’s much better to hide this inside bed furniture and inside seating areas.

This is a nice solution with the partial wall between the seating area and the front of the RV. The table and the seating furniture can be pulled out from under the bed which is a really nice twist!

Check out how cozy this 4-person dining area has turned out:

modern interior of RV with slide-out table top

The storage sofa below is custom-made for a modern bus conversion we filmed in Florida a couple of years ago.

Instead of a backrest, they placed some big pillows for the back. This is a great way to create a comfortable seating area that you can easily turn into a sleeping area when you need to.

Underneath the sofa, there’s a ton of storage as you can see below.

You just grab the seat and lift it up.

Here they have placed batteries and other tools for the camper. You need to remember storage for tools and other things you need for maintenance on your RV or camper.

Storage underneath seating area RV

They have done a really good job of making sure every square inch is used in one way or another.

Normally the best option is to use the bed area for sitting during the day and then fold down/out the cushions when you need to sleep.

This vertical storage space is meant for laptops and magazines.

Everything is painted white and the mattress breaks up the white colors. It doesn’t feel small and claustrophobic as it sometimes is the case with a small space.

travel trailer white interior

Just beside this sofa area, you find a built-in dog crate for a very cute (and rather big) dog. You can see it in the video below. As we mentioned, We found these ideas inside a nice modern bus conversion in Florida.

You can see the video tour of the space below where Maria guides you through the many ideas.

Don’t let the skin fool you with this one. It’s REALLY sweet and modern on the inside!

Ideas For Very Small Trailer Campers

We will start with a beautiful kitchen area from a sweet little teardrop trailer.

We have a nice walk-through of a bunch of teardrop trailers in this article . Check it out if you are into tiny camper spaces. There are some really great ideas as well!

Use Natural Wood Colors

This kitchen space is compact and stylish.

The natural colors of the wood look amazing and it adds a lot of atmosphere to a camper.

kitchen close-up view

It’s a great idea to mix the use of natural wood with a couple of strong colors or darker wood. This will add some contrast to the wood.

If you paint everything white it often ends up feeling too sterile and impersonal.

Notice how they have hidden storage underneath the seating area as well as in the back of the van. Extra storage like this is really important if you choose to take down the upper shelves around the ceiling.

The little leather straps look great.

We use the same type of leather straps on our storage cabinets and they are both stylish and modern. We stole this idea from a Scandinavian design Maga zine.

travel trailer white interior

Below you see a picture of our own tiny camper which we sold a couple of years ago.

We gutted the camper completely and built everything up anew. This bed is built around a very comfortable mattress and under the bed, we had a ton of storage.

We would keep all our clothes and personal items in here as well as some camping gear.

Storage drawers underneath bed in tiny camper

In tiny campers like this one, you have to sacrifice some space due to the wheels. So we built a bookshelf and a small cabinet for our laptops and electronic devices like cameras, phones, and chargers.

We also built-in power sockets in these shelves so we could leave the computers in there while they could charge.

This way we could get them out of sight and we could keep them hidden when we were out exploring so thieves couldn’t see them.

As we always work on the road when we travel we need to bring our laptops and electronic gear with us. So we had to think about storage for this and a place to charge the gear.

shelves for laptops and charging phones

You cannot have too many power sockets and USB sockets in a tiny space.

In order to get cords and wires out of the way you should place power sockets in every corner and everywhere else, you can. Inside drawers, besides the bed, in the kitchen etc.

We had a power outlet in the corner of the bed so we could charge our baby unit and our phones during the night.

Change Station And Nursery In A Camper

We also built a nursery into our camper.

Max was around one year old when we started camping in Italy for a month. We needed a change station and a crib for him so we decided to put in a crib just like the one he has in our apartment at home.

This way he felt more at home when we were on the go because he recognized the space around his bed.

We placed a change station on top of the crib. It was made from wood from the camper. We throw out a lot of furniture and wood from the camper during the rebuilding process and we kept most of it in order to use it for projects like this.

That’s a great idea because you will need super light-weight materials if you are going to build new furniture and walls in your camper space.

Nursery and change station inside camper RV

And as you can tell, Max loved his little space inside our caravan.

Change station in caravan with baby being happy in his crib

We put up some heavy 3-layered curtains to keep the cold out during the night.

He has a habit of kicking off any sort of comforter we cover him with during the night we so had to keep the temperature high during the night.

The curtains we mounted in the ceiling and went all the way to the floor in order to keep him warm.

I hope you got inspired by these interior ideas. If you have a modern RV space you’d like to have featured on our blog just let us know. We are always open to that.

Travel Trailer Interior – Designing interior is a big part to consider after you’re buying a travel trailer. It’s a living place, but it’s different than designing the interior of a house. Travel trailer, no matter how big you have, will be smaller than a house. Therefore, campers need to carefully think how to make the space of their travel trailer looks open. It is also important to make your space comfortable to see and live in.

Decorating a Travel Trailer Interior

how to repair travel trailer interior walls

Maybe you’ve just bought a brand new travel trailer, that’s why you’re in need to decorate your blank space. Or maybe, you’re unsatisfied with how your travel trailer looks like and want to remodel your older travel trailer . Decorating a travel trailer interior is fun, but can be challenging as well. Here are some tips if you want to know how to renovate a camper trailer:

1. Apply White, Light and Bright

camping world

If you have a small travel trailer, this tip is especially important to take notes. Your travel trailer can  look so cramped if you’re not careful. If your goal is to make your space look larger, these three rules are important to remember. White gives the illusion of an open space, so you might want to paint your travel trailer with that color. That color also makes your space reflects light nicely, which in turn making it look bright.

2. Apply Prime Before Painting

vintage trailer interior

It’s important to prime before you paint your travel trailer. In other words, you shouldn’t mix your primer and paint together. You should prime your walls one coat. Only then, you can start painting.

3. Include Both Color and Texture

travel trailer interior color schemes

White might be the best idea for a larger look to your travel trailer. However, you don’t have to make every part of your interior becomes white. It’s important to incorporate your style, that is by adding your favorite color and texture. One way to do it is by adding wall arts. You can hang your wall arts with bright colors, which will bring focus to them.

For texture, you’re free to choose the kind of fabric you love. If you want to make your travel trailer looks luxurious, you can add satin pillowcases, for example. Having a rug also gives character since they have a lot of textures. For instance, you can add a feather rug with patterns on it.

4. Devote One Pattern

how to repair travel trailer interior walls

If your goal is to make your space looks larger, committing to one pattern is essential. In order to not make your space look messy, choose one pattern that you love. For example, incorporate stripes to your curtains, pillowcases, blankets and furnitures. Consistency helps because it makes your space look neat.

5. Bring Back Reclaimed Wood

camping world parts

Reclaimed wood will give the sense of homeyness to your space. Replacing with reclaimed wood sounds like a lot of work, but it doesn’t hurt to consider. The reason is because reclaimed wood is better than carpets. Carpets are more difficult to clean. In addition, they get dirty too easily. Remember that travelling with RV means that there’s a lot of traffic going in and out.

6. Don’t Forget Exterior

camping world locations

Decorating is important, but decorating exterior should have a priority as well. After all, you will spend a lot of time outside. You can decorate the outside of your travel trailer by adding stylish furnitures. You can also make your RV looks beautiful at night by adding decorative lights and lanterns.

7. View Your Travel Trailer as a Blank Canvas

modular cabinets for rv

Even if you have an older RV, you should look at your RV like you want it to be. In other words, you even have to change the standard furnitures. You can change the standard mattress and install a better one. Don’t hesitate to invest to your RV. In addition, you can also get rid of furnitures you feel don’t serve your needs.

8. Balance Style and Comfort

vintage trailer table

Making your travel trailer looks stylish doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort. Not only considering your preference, it’s equally important to consider the function. In other words, you should decorate your RV by considering whether the function serves your needs. For instance, can you maintain a white themed RV? Maybe you’re reckless or maybe you have little kids so that idea is out of the windows.

How to Repair Travel Trailer Interior Walls

modular cabinets for rv

The most common issue is the damage of interior walls. However, you can repair them by yourself. These are the steps on how to repair travel trailer interior walls in the case of replacing RV wall paneling :

camping world store

First of all, RV interior paneling repair requires you to tape off everything in order to protect the covered areas.

Finally, place your panel with liquid nail to glue it together.

Travel Trailer Interior Design

how to build rv cabinets

When designing a travel trailer, it’s a must to consider a theme. The reason for that is to make the travel trailer look organized and neat. Either vintage or modern, the travel trailer will look pleasant if the theme is decided.

1. Vintage Travel Trailer Interior

how to repair travel trailer interior walls

Camping, in essence, is an experience of coming back to nature. Vintage trailer interior may be a good idea to be in tune with nature. It gives a reminder of a simple life back then, bringing nostalgia along the way.

a. The Wooden Comfort

vintage trailer interior

What screams more about nature than an RV filled with natural woods? Not only the floor, the walls are also covered with wooden material. In addition, the furnitures are also wooden.

b. Fluffy Style

vintage trailer interior ideas

Still with a design full of woods, this RV gives another touch by adding many comfortable fabrics. Ruffles and embroidery portray a vintage look to the fabrics as well. It will be comfortable snuggling with that many cozy fabrics surrounding the space.

c. Dreamy Space

how to build rv cabinets

A way to give an RV a dreamy look is by having thin cream curtains on every window. It’s like entering another world with the light filtered through the curtain. RV interior color schemes of blue and pink give a nice contrast, but not overbearing.

d. Comfortable Clouds

remodeled travel trailers for sale

An RV filled with soft fabrics? It’s possible, even to the point of filling the ceiling with foam. Covering every space with fabric can be done by draping and taping it on the walls. In addition, get many big pillows and rugs to make every spot feels like walking on the clouds.

e. Like Living in a Diner

modular cabinets for rv

Diner gives a big look of retro vibe. The way to renovate the RV in order to achieve that look is by changing the dining space. Change the seating like in a diner and have dark wood paneling.

f. Lovely Trailer

j. Classy Black and White

vintage trailer table

The theme of this RV is black and white, however there are many patterns incorporated. Having a table with quotes is a fresh idea rather than regular patterns. This travel trailer is a good idea for people who want to play it safe, but still have fun. The checkered floor really reflects the playful but classy looks of this RV.

k. A Twist for Wooden Style

l. Colorful Carnival

how to build rv cabinets

When people think of carnival, they will associate it with fun and colors. A carnival themed travel trailer will bring an excitement to the campers. It’s like having a little party inside the travel trailer. Hanging triangular flags is a good idea to portray that. In addition, add multiple patterns with loud colors to make it more bright.

m. Calming and Sweet

travel trailer interior lights

Having a colorful travel trailer doesn’t equally mean bright. It’s possible to have it with a softer tone, for example by combining soft green and pink. In addition, add little touches of brown to make it look even sweeter.

n. Dark Chocolate

rv overhead cabinets

Dark woods will make a travel trailer look cool, however it might make it look too serious. Other colors are incorporated to combat its somber tone.

o. Lemonade and Orange Juice

camping world parts

Camping equals summer, which means the season for freshness. Yellow and orange are bright enough to convey that spirit. The colors convey the summer drinks that accompany the hot journey.

p. Ethnic Sky

rv cabinet suppliers

Still with wooden style, this time there’s a twist with the ceiling. Not only for blankets and rugs, it’s also possible to make the ceiling to have ethnic patterns. Colorful stripes also give another edge to this travel trailer.

q. Warm with Embroidery

camping world locations

Embroidery always gives a nostalgic feeling. Incorporating embroidery is a sure way to get a vintage feel for a travel trailer. Not only as a table cloth, embroidered curtains and blankets are also a good idea. Adding a beautiful kettle, it will be just like living in a loving grandma’s house.

r. Swinging

camping world careers

A hammock is a good addition to a travel trailer. Besides being a place to relax while enjoying the day, it can also be an extra bed.

s. A Breath of Fresh Air

Planting plants can be another step for campers who want more natural vibe to their RV. The combination of green and brown is like living in the middle of nature.

t. Vibrant World

travel trailer interior color schemes

u. Drapes All Over

vintage trailer interior

Draping soft and thin fabrics will make a travel trailer appear mysterious. It’s just like entering the room of fortune tellers.

v. Rise and Shine

lightweight rv cabinets

For campers who want to have a bright travel trailer interior, yellow should be the answer. Decorate the ceiling with yellow to make it like sunshine is always inside no matter what time it is. In addition, make it brighter by adding all of other colors.

x. Like Royalty

travel trailer white interior

Travel trailers have relatively small space, but that doesn’t mean they can’t look luxurious. Campers can look like royalty if they have budget to invest in decorating. The richness of gold combined with woods really gives a feeling of royalty in the past.

2. Modern Travel Trailer Interior

rv interior cabinets

On another hand, camping doesn’t mean that campers have to sacrifice their comfort. Modern travel trailer interior is sleek with futuristic features. Here are some ideas for modern designs:

a. Buckled Up

Using minimal color is the key for modern interior. Since white can be difficult to maintain, gray can be the next option. The calm color will give comfort to campers.

f. Subtle Stripes

camping world locations

Minimal look doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be any pattern. Stripes with nude color is a good idea to make an RV appear alive. Using different shades of a color is also important to bring harmony.

g. Modern Black and White

camping world catalog

Black and White is a good contrast for an interior theme. Besides incorporating a pattern, having quotes is also a good idea. It can be on rugs, blankets, pillows and wall arts.

h. Abstract Style

vintage trailer interior

This needs more budget, but geometric patterns will surely give an edge to any camper’s travel trailer. It’s unusual and creative. However, It’s important to have white background since the space needs to look open.

i. Sleek Porcelain

camping world hours

Wooden floor or carpets are common. However, porcelain floor can be a new option. Just like wooden floor, it’s easy to clean. Plus, porcelain floor will keep cool when the weather is hot.

j. A Touch of Pink

travel trailer interior design

Not everything needs to be white in order to make the travel trailer looks open. Adding a soft color like pastel pink will also give the same effect.

k. Black and White (Plus Brown)

where to purchase rv cabinets

In this case, brown softens the contrast of Black and White. It can be too harsh to look at, which is why brown could come into rescue. The splash of brown softens the overall look of the RV.

l. High End Style

With everything sleek, from walls to furniture, there’s no doubt that the RV looks futuristic and luxurious. However, the budget can be overwhelming for many campers to achieve this look.

There are many factors to consider when designing a travel trailer interior. There should be a balance between style and function. In addition, deciding a theme is essential before starting the process. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Luxury Diesel

Gas class a, modern farmhouse interiors are here.

The wait is over! The Modern Farmhouse interior design is available in select Class A and Class C Entegra Coach models.

There’s been a lot of buzz around new trends in RV design, especially white interiors, or lighter décor with white as a foundation. We’ve led the way on fresh new designs, having started working on the concept of RV interior design and modernizing styles here at our Middlebury campus years ago.

Since the design style’s introduction, RVers new and old have spoken loudly, asking for more and more. As one of our senior designers accurately predicted, “It’s comfy, cozy and has a classic feel. People are just drawn to it.”

We’re excited to bring the choice to Entegra Coach!

We’ve enjoyed exploring the different ways people make their RV interiors unique, how they add their own personal style, and that’s a big part of the inspiration behind Modern Farmhouse. It mixes rustic, modern and contemporary materials that make for an aesthetic that more and more RVers are looking for.

Inspiration for the fixtures and details was drawn from all around us: new houses, home re-models, TV shows and trips to the mall. For example, one of our designers stumbled on a table that looked like a barn door at a local restaurant; the barn board table looks great in the Modern Farmhouse. Our seeded mason-jar light idea was sparked while watching HGTV’s  Fixer Uppers .

We’ve worked closely with our vendors and interior designers to make sure the Modern Farmhouse translated to the Entegra Coach lineup. Mission accomplished (if we do say so ourselves). Starting with the 2021 model year, three Entegra Coach motorhomes offer the design: the Vision and Vision XL Class As and the Odyssey Class C.

Let’s explore 25 ways to decorate an RV or Camper. Who says our RV cannot reflect our style?  Whether you just want to add small details or larger projects, you can decorate your RV to feel comfortable, just like home. When you walk into your room at a hotel or resort, you immediately know if you will feel like you are on vacation or just another work conference. Walking into your RV should always make you want to stay and enjoy yourself as long as possible.

We have ideas no matter if your style is Farmhouse Chic, Rustic, Industrial, Whimsical, or Minimalist. We know there is limited space, but there are still ways to add personality without losing space and functionality. Choosing functional decor is essential.

Let’s dive right in.

1. Add Wallpaper

2. personality with pillows, 3. baskets and bins, 4. curtains, curtains, curtains, 5. knobs, pegs, and hooks, 6. fixtures, 9. blankets and throws, 10.  art, 11. hanging your towels as decor to free up storage, 12. light fixtures and lamps, 13. lighting accents as decor. string lights, 14. incorporating your appliances into the decor., 15. mirrors, 16. make lifestyle choices decor: coffee, tea, music, office, faith, humor, 17. add vinyl and lettering, 18. furniture covers , 19. functional furniture, 20. decorating your entry, 21. bedding, 22. plants and flowers, 23. countertop makeovers.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 1

This RV owner likes boats. They chose a bold wallpaper to represent this. Adding wallpaper can take a space and change its vibe quickly. Pops of geometric patterns, flower prints, or even plaids can add color with little effort.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 2

This delicate flowery pattern adds femininity without being overwhelming. It reflects a sweet, pure, quiet environment. This is a place I would love to read a book on a spring day.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 3

Adding wallpaper or sticky tile to a backsplash can be a wow for minimal effort. Backsplashes are a great design feature. Choose materials that are easy to clean and resist heat and oils for the best results.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 4

Decide what walls you want to wallpaper, and remember less is more in small confined spaces. Most RV walls are safe to wallpaper, but a sample test will help you decide on the print and material compatibility.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 5

Adding wallpaper to the front of a step up into your bedroom or 5th wheel can add character and look expensive.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 6

The interior of an RV is a compact space packed with furniture and essentials, so it’s best to avoid large walls and dark-colored or busy patterns. It may be time to ditch the dark browns for lighter colors to create the illusion of space. White or light-toned wallpaper usually works best for campers and RVs. Check out this before and after.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 7

Every amateur decorator knows that you can add pops of color, whimsy, and philosophy with just a few throw pillows. No matter your personal style, there is a throw pillow that will reflect it.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 8

Remember to add pillows in moderation. When you want to use your dinette seats, pull-out sofa, or even your bed, those pillows have to go somewhere, and space is limited. Pick patterns, colors, or phrases that you love and bring you joy.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 9

Throw Pillows can be changed with your mood. Funny expressions, vibrant colors, and even holiday pillows can be added and removed. I like to buy pillow shams so that the slips not used can stay on the pillows and just switch around. Storage issue averted.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 10

Everything you can do to add storage is a great idea. When you purchase an RV, you may look around and be so pleased with all the storage it offers, but I promise you will always need a little more. Baskets and bins are a great way to decorate and add organization.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 12

Organizing food into bins can be very helpful. As a 5’ 4” person, I find it challenging to reach those top shelves even with a small stool. Having bins that you can pull out for spices can be a lifesaver or at least a fall saver. I wholly recommend bins.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 13

Baskets control the clutter and add homey touches. Need a nightstand but do not have room, hang a basket. You can find baskets in various styles and sizes. Fitting baskets into your decor is easy.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 14

This wire basket is perfect for spices besides the stove. It adds storage and keeps things tidy, which keeps you from feeling claustrophobic. Because of the small space, it feels even smaller when an RV has clutter.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 15

The bathroom is the smallest area of most RVs and campers. It also needs lots of storage. Usually, there is very little room in the bathroom vanity to store more than a towel or maybe two. Hanging baskets on the towel bar adds storage for all those bathroom must-haves like hair and makeup products.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 16

These wire bins are a great way to keep clutter corralled in a bathroom. It also makes it easy for guests to find necessities.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 17

Curtains can be a bold focal point in an RV space without seeming like the room is closing in. Curtains can add texture and color without adding to the busyness of the room.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 18

Hanging fabric to divide and define spaces can make your RV feel cozier. Sometimes a curtain is needed for privacy, and sometimes it is required to block light for better sleep.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 19

You can also use fabric to hide unsightly storage. Not everything fits into baskets and bins. Hanging fabric on this bottom bunk can create hidden storage or private sleeping quarters.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 20

When using a theme to decorate, fabric can be an easy solution. You can find fabrics in thousands of colors, prints, textures, and thicknesses on the internet and at your door the next day.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 21

Don’t forget your shower curtain when you are considering your decorative style. This is another DIY or purchase that can reflect any style, theme, or notion. Even if your shower has a door, you can add a pop of color to the side to soften the whole look.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 22

Fabric patterns can be mixed to add interest. These pieces of red, green, and white prints coordinate perfectly for a vintage feel. The most important thing is for you to love it.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 23

A quick and easy weekend project can be trading dated knobs and pulls in for newer or themed ones. Also, pegs and hooks can add storage without losing style. This decorator uses a deer rack to hang essential items.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 24

Updated cabinet hardware can quickly transform your RV look with little effort or know-how needed. This trick works even if you choose to paint your cabinets or not.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 25

Hooks can be practical and needed. Very useful in an entrance, hooks can be installed to corral everyone’s shoes. This is a genius idea.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 26

Hooks in the kitchen can display your cookware or utensils. This puts things at your fingertips but also adds decor.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 27

Pegboards can be added to a wall or even a storage bin to help with optimizing and organizing spaces. This is a great way to organize all the tools in a small area that can get cluttered quickly, and you can lose tools into the abyss.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 28

Changing fixtures can be a noticeable transformation in the look and feel of an RV and its function. Sometimes RV manufacturers overlook the need for a tall faucet for washing dishes. And most of us like a shower head that can handle water pressure and has a massage feature.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 29

This bathroom fixture transformation makes a big difference in eye appeal and feels more like a spa than a small RV shower. Whether you live full-time in your camper or just on weekend getaways, who doesn’t like a great shower.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 30

Lovely fixtures can add a modern, sleek finish. It feels expensive and tranquil. Bathrooms that are frequently visited should be comfortable and clean.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 31

This outdated bathroom sink remodels added the feel and look of luxury. The bathroom can be a place to add nice touches to add value if resale is an option.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 32

Rugs are a great way to express your personal style. This decorator added an Aztec pattern to make it have a southwestern feel. Rugs can be replaced or changed frequently and quickly. I tend to get tired of looking at the same things, so I redo or rearrange often.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 33

This example shows a soft filigree motif to brighten a dark brown interior. It adds a stark difference to its background, making it the room’s feature.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 34

Rugs and corresponding pillows can add themes. Here we have a striped pattern displayed with the added stylized pillows in complimentary colors. The lines draw your eyes to the pillows and comfy sofa.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 35

Open shelves are a trendy design now. There are not many surfaces to decorate in a camper due to space, so adding a shelf or open shelving can be a great way to display items you love or dishes.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 36

These Boho shelves give this small space a sense of openness that closed cabinets could not attain. I love the neutral colors and textures.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 37

This tiny shelf adds dimension and detail to a plain kitchen window. It is the perfect place for a pop of color and personality. It even adds a bit of privacy without adding a curtain or valance.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 38

This beautiful vintage crocheted afghan was probably the inspiration for this hombre design. It is gorgeous and coordinated perfectly. It makes you want to curl up with a good book.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 39

Notice this example of a neutral background with the only color coming in the throws and pillows. The style of this whole room can be transformed into any color or pattern you wish in a few minutes. I love the versatility.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 40

This RV owner mixed beige and gray for a modern color scheme but added a lovely soft, snuggly blanket to soften those lines and colors.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 41

Mixing more than one complimentary throw can be an excellent way to add textures, and a soft throw adds a comfortable accent.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 42

A black framed monotone picture can make a focal point on a white wall. It can add inspiration and a trendy farmhouse look.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 43

Mixed frames and pictures work perfectly with Boho, whimsy, or eclectic designs. My only requirement for decor is that I love it. It must bring me joy when you have many things to keep clean or dust. That does not bring me joy.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 44

Framed or not, words of humor or inspiration can add a relaxed, homey feeling. It will help you make your RV inviting to family and guests. It also reveals a bit of personality, which can be significant.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 45

This is one of my favorite finds! Turkish towels solved a couple of problems for me. One, it is so much thinner than a regular towel, so storage was a lot easier to manage and the second is my RV has a washer and dryer combo, but they are small. Washing 6 traditional towels would take me 2-3 loads. I can wash all 6 of my towels in one wash with Turkish towels. And they look great hanging in a bathroom.

These are my favorites. They dry and are very absorbent and dry quickly.

(Set of 6) 100% Turkish Cotton Bath Beach Hammam Peshtemal Towel Throw Fouta Blanket Set XL Prewashed (Navy)

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 46

These towels also conserve water by hanging them to dry and reuse. We each have our own towel and hanger. I also think these are so pretty when displayed.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 47

You can find them in neutral or coordinating colors. They look expensive and luxurious without being. These towels are comparable to cheap towels but with higher quality.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 48

When you are using traditional towels, a wine rack can display them neatly. Many use this trick in their RV and their homes also. It is an excellent way to add color and texture. They can also be changed when you change your colors.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 49

This is one of my favorite updates or decorating tips. Changing your lighting fixtures is the perfect way to update or change your look. It can also be challenging. When changing your fixture, please remember to check the voltage and replace it accordingly.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 50

I love this chandelier. It has an expensive but rugged, simple look. It matches the design of this RV. I love the stark difference between white and black. With this canvas, you could pop any color you want and change it on a whim.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 51

This is a genius idea when you cannot change your fixture. You can update those fixtures with details like a basket.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 52

This DIYer places fabric pieces around the lights to resemble and hombre fringe. This is so cool and would fit several different decorating styles.

RecPro RV Decorative Ceiling Light | 12V LED Light | Island Light Fixture with Drilled Acrylic Cage | Ceiling Fixture

This fixture would be perfect for an island in an RV. It is a 12-volt fixture specific for campers and RVs. Its style is very versatile.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 53

This set of fairy lights on a dreamcatcher sets a tranquil mood for relaxing and falling asleep. It would be a fantastic nightlight.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 54

These string lights create a romantic feel and could also serve as a nightlight. I love the neutral scheme and the softness of the string lights.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 55

Soft string lights are a warm touch, especially where light fixtures are unavailable. Many enjoy fairy and string lights near sleeping areas.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 56

String lights are practical for your outside area when you are camping. It is welcoming and allows you and your guests to navigate the site without accidents.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 57

Appliances do not have to be unsightly or plain. They can be a focal point in your design. I love the addition of vinyl to this fridge. The dandelion pattern is beautiful and art all on its own.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 58

If your Refridgerator needs an update, this chrome vinyl is a cheap way to make a significant impact. Chrome is just one option of many.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 59

This fridge has added blackboard vinyl to allow its surface to be changed and styled as you desire. I love this idea for children! I know one little girl who would love to create a piece of art here.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 60

Mirrors can be an RVers best friend if you need to feel like you need the space to feel more prominent or even lighter. When mirrors reflect light, it tricks your eyes into seeing double the space and light. If your camper uses a lot of dark browns, mirrors can be just what you need.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 61

We expect to find mirrors in bathrooms, but updating one in an RV can add value and make a tiny bathroom feel expanded.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 62

Including your daily life into your decor makes life so much simpler. Not having to move things around in order to work, cook, or even do yoga makes those things less of a chore and more enjoyable. This desk replaced the dinette set that was never used. Now going to work is easy without feeling cramped.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 63

If you are a dedicated coffee drinker, your coffee pot and accessories will always be on display in a convenient place. Embrace this and include a coffee station in your decor.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 64

Adding quotes and words that support your faith or philosophy is a great way to add your personality and bring joy to your space.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 66

There are a lot of funny idioms and quips. Adding these touches to your decor becomes great conversation starters with guests.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 67

Adding vinyl lettering and images has become a popular way to label, decorate, and add personality. I love this welcome chandelier added to this door. It is so inviting.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 68

Lettering can be added to a dining table. This would be a great place to put family names, camping recipes, or even websites for takeout.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 69

Vinyl decals are also a current trend for the outside of your RV. Everyone loves customization.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 70

If you are not particularly fond of your sofa pattern, you can quickly use a furniture cover or even a thin blanket to change its look. This is also a great idea because you can easily throw it into the washer and not worry about the kids soiling it.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 71

This is a great way to change your fabric colors without using a sewing machine. Also, I can tell you upholstery fabric is not cheap. It is cheaper to buy a cover.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 72

Ok, let’s admit that sometimes RV furniture is not the most comfortable. Don’t be afraid to change out your furniture for traditional pieces. I ditched a sofa for a couple of small recliners because it made more sense for our family.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 73

This owner has traded their RV furniture for a lovely sectional. Just keep in mind your furniture must come apart and fit through the door to be reassembled.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 74

I love this door!! It is a great way to make a statement before your guests enter your rig.

It’s also an excellent way to impress the neighbors.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 75

I am in love with a good screen door, and this one is amazing. Everyone does not have the skill to create this, but if you do, I would. It will have the campground buzzing.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 76

Adding a vintage wallpaper to your door will make a statement and lend some authenticity to your vintage design. Color coordinating patterns will add whimsy and style.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 77

Also, if you want to impress your neighbors, you can accessorize your outside area to match your rig and show off your personality.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 78

Bedding is essential to me. When I lay down, I want to lay down in a cushy bed with a soft, comfy blanket that feels like a luxury hotel. Sheets are nothing to skimp on, even in your camper.

Color coordinating bedding and pillows are a must when you are decorating. It may be the most important. Everyone wants their camping vacation to have some luxury.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 79

Neutral beige or white are perfect for a minimalistic style. It looks clean and luxurious.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 80

Adding a striped pattern to neutral bedding adds depth and a pop of color. I love the look of this vintage navy stripe.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 81

Placing plants strategically around your rig can give it an outdoor feel. I have never been successful growing anything, so I will have to choose silk.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 82

Succulents can be grown just about anywhere. They are also very hardy and easy to take care of. This hoop and succulent combo are charming.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 83

If you choose hanging plants, they can be hung inside or out, depending on the weather. They can brighten up your entry or your living area.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 84

Revamping countertops has become easier with better options than replacing them. You can use vinyl as they have here. It is very durable and doable with thicker professional vinyl.

You can also recover the countertops with a sheet of Formica veneer like they did in this video.

The new countertops look amazing, but it does require a bit of skill.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 85

Painting your countertops with a special paint made expressly for that purpose is the option that takes the least amount of talent and money.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 86

I love this 50’s teal! The white with black and some copper is classy, but the pop of teal makes it fun. These teal touches could easily be changed to yellow or red without too much thought.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 87

Here is that teal with the fore mentioned yellow and red. I know it is a little much for some, but I love it. It reminds me of the 50s and my granddaughter’s dollhouse. It is so sweet.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 88

This design makes me think back to camping as a child. These are the patterns and colors that accompanied those campouts at the river. It makes me miss my grandmother.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 89

There is nothing that will change a look faster than paint. It can also be the best bang for your buck. It will take patience and many coats, but the result is worth it.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 90

Most campers and RVs start with wallpaper. I have painted wallpaper, and it is doable, but it will take you four or five coats. There is a coating and paste on wallpaper that will require many coats. Patience is key. The painting will not be a quick fix.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 91

Painting cabinets can be rewarding. I love the white at the top contrasted with the black on the bottom cabinets. Cabinets like RV wallpaper will take many coats, even with a good primer.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 92

I picked this example because of the stark difference displayed from everything else I have seen. I don’t know if I could live in this style, but I would love to camp in it for a weekend. It is beautiful.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 93

Paint isn’t just for the inside of a camper. You can paint the outside too. I know this rig gets eyed everywhere it goes. It would make me want to see the inside. Anyone who paints their camper this way is begging for company.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 94

You can see the drastic difference white can make in a small space before and after. It looks so clean and open. The focal point becomes the accents you add that bring you joy.

25 Beautiful RV Decorating Ideas (for Interior, bedroom, kitchen, etc) 95

Look at this pastel mint on the bottom cabinets with the floral rug. It is so precious. It is just enough color to give the room some depth. We have to mention how the gold hardware sets it all off.

Decorating your RV or camper can be a lot of fun. The most important thing is to make it feel like a vacation or holiday. When it is designed and decorated to be comfortable and inviting, you will want to use it more often. If like me, you are a full-time RVer, you know that comfort and function trump all. Everything has to have a purpose or function because the space is tiny.

Clutter is not your friend. I have chosen this minimalistic lifestyle because I do not want to collect stuff but memories. I do not wish to dust daily, so I do not have a lot of decor sitting around. I have a pretty large RV, but I still discard things that are not useful or do not bring me joy. Cleaning does not bring me joy. My life is about the moments that bring me joy and having more of them.

7 Interior Design Styles and How to Do Them in Your RV

Mountain Rustic

The styles of a mountain cabin will feel at home on an RV that frequents elevation, like trips to the Rockies or the Blue Ridge . Make your RV into your own cabin getaway by adding cozy touches like flannel blankets, wood accents, and woodland animal decor. Add wall hooks made of horseshoes or other accents you might find salvaged from a barn or cabin. Outfit your kitchen with over-the-fire staples like cast iron pans and a cowboy kettle.

Mountain Rustic RV Interior

Wood paneling, shiplap, country florals, and farmhouse check are all patterns and textures reflective of a countryside aesthetic. Traditional style furniture sets the foundation to build and layer country decoration. Hit a rural flea market for inspiration. Pick up tea towels to use as kitchen curtains. Use hand-woven baskets for extra storage. Search for vintage tins and kitchen items that can be functional and charming out on display. Add wall art of pastoral prints to finish off your bucolic rolling home.

Country RV Interior

No doubt about it–beach condos are pricey. What if you could pick up your beach cottage and take it to any coast your heart desires? Park your RV at some of the best beachfront campgrounds and you’ve got yourself the prime real estate without the hefty price tag. If you deck out your RV interior with a coastal vibe you can use your camper as a vacation getaway to sunny shores.

Add custom curtains or window treatments in your RV using light and breezy fabrics. Consider altering interior colors with indigo, blues, teals, whites, and golds. For a challenging DIY project, paint your RV kitchen cabinets white and brighten up the space. Add small touches using seashells, lighthouses, or sailboats. For a more tropical vibe, Palm fronds in vases and coconuts in a woven basket will take you to your island of choice. Soon enough, your RV will be your beachy happy place.

Coastal RV Interior

Bohemian style ( or just Boho) is a reflection of global adventures, nomadic expeditions, and a well-traveled lifestyle–just like your RV and you! Recollect this wanderlust in your interior design using bold colors that bring to mind your favorite destinations–the red cliffs of Sedona, the teal shores of the Gulf Coast, the verdant greens of the Olympic National Forest. Add earthy textures in layers. Use a piece of salvaged driftwood for an entryway coat rack. Decorate with woven wall hangings, wicker, and plants––lots of plants. As you travel around in your RV, hit the antique and vintage markets to find unique collected items that will add to the whimsy of this lived-in interior design style.

Midcentury Modern

The mid-century style of the ’50s and ’60s, with its clean lines and Danish functionality, never goes out of fashion. Low-profile furniture, organic curved shapes, and a simple and functional aesthetic contribute to the midcentury modern look. Pops of vibrant color give a room life and make a statement.

To bring the midcentury modern look into your RV, search for furniture and decor with rounded edges and a retro vibe. Choose 1-3 vibrant accent colors, and add them throughout your RV with pillows, light fixtures, wall art, or a painted statement wall. Think about functionality and design. Accent with natural, unstained wood like teak or walnut. Add in accents of polished chrome. Switch out your light fixtures for bold lighting with rounded bulbs.

Industrial Modern

Industrial style is defined by sturdy, yet elegant construction materials. Think mixed metals, glass, stainless steel, and raw Edison bulbs. These unadorned materials are made to take center stage in this contemporary style.

Add an industrial look to your RV with a neutral color palette that includes organic materials mixed with modern amenities. Light your RV with LED lighting and look for metallic accents and modern appliance upgrades to make your RV feel like a brand new apartment.

RV Interior Paint Ideas: All in One Color

Painting the RV’s interior in one color is a great idea that delivers impressive results. It doesn’t matter if you apply the same paint on the cabinets or the walls. It will still make your RV incredible, giving it a premium and homely feel like these examples.

Undoubtedly, the dark green interior has given this RV a simple yet appealing look. The color blends perfectly with the white ceiling, the stool adjacent to the wall, and the mirror, which also acts as an accessory. Moreover, regarding Virginia Commonwealth University the green color also creates a calm and relaxing mood.

This RV interior screams simplicity and class at its best. I find the darker shade of blue a perfect blend of the white ceiling, wooden floors, and the wooden walls separating the kitchen and the sleeping area. This dark blue color also makes the RV interior peaceful, serene, and calm.

White Walls and Bright Colored Cabinets

You cannot go wrong revamping your RV with white walls and colored cabinets. Any color can complement the white walls, increasing the aesthetic appeal of the RV. Here are some examples of this magnificent RV painting idea.

I cannot help but love the RV interior shared by the owner, @ luciiamarie . The green-colored cabinets perfectly blend with the white walls, making this kitchen homely and cool. It is also easier to apply and maintain.

This motorhome designed by @ floshea_harrigan showcases the elegance of the white walls and light blue cabinets. Although the white walls brighten this interior , the blue adds color to the outfit, making it unique and beautiful.

Wall Paper and Paint

A combination of paint and wallpaper can magically transform your motorhome’s interior, making it visually appealing and unique. I have also witnessed how painted wallpapers make the RV interiors stylish. Let’s check out some examples of this painting idea.

The amazing RV transformation was created by Liz Kamarul ( @liz_kamarul ), a New Orleans interior stylist. She hand-painted the wallpaper flamingoes in her camper’s wallpaper to create a distinctive pattern, which adds classy beauty.

Wall Paper + Paint_1

I applaud the efforts of Emily and her family members in transforming this camper van using wallpaper and paint. In the kitchen pictured above, she painted bright teal colors on the cabinets and complimented them with black, bold, and white floral wallpaper. This mix of colors, wallpaper, and wooden floors gives this RV a rich look.

Wall Paper + Paint_3

This work of art was accomplished by @crazyfamilyadventure  within three weeks. They kept the décor minimalistic by using wallpaper and paint and made it aesthetically appealing by painting the slide-out and cabinets with a lighter color. The leopard-printed rug adds a taste of class to this unit.

Culturally Themed Painting

I love the idea of painting my motorhome with a cultural theme in mind. Interior décor rooted in culture is always intriguing and beautiful. There is nearly zero chance that someone else would’ve thought of your idea. Let’s take a look at these examples.

This photo shows how a travel mum used a culturally themed idea with fun colors to upgrade her RV’s interior . The blue accent wall is an incredible paint idea as it lights up the motorhome, making it visually appealing. When adding any accessory, ensure it can blend with this design without altering the beauty.

Culturally Themed Painting_3

The owner of this RV used a cultural theme to beautify it. The floral wallpaper on the fridge, the unique patterned rugs, and the vintage stool, together with the white walls, green-painted fireplace, and cabinets, make this kitchen space colorful and distinctively beautiful. Visit the owners’ Instagram page for more images.

Culturally Themed Painting_2

The cultural theme in this motorhome shared by @ whatsonindurbanville is intriguing. Although the walls are white, they complement the colorful draper, peach lighting fixtures, brown ceiling, and other items in this kitchen. I find it adorable.

RV Interiors with Bold Accent Colors

Another way to add pomp and color is to paint the RV interior with an accent color on either one wall and some cabinets and the rest with trim-white. Having one or two accent walls will make your RV colorful and bright. Let’s look at some examples.

RV Interiors with Bold Accent Colors_1

I love how the shiplap-painted walls make this RV interior brighter and more spacious without the accent cabinets not darkening it. However, you must step up in cleaning this interior often to retain its beauty.

RV Interiors with Bold Accent Colors_3

Isn’t this adorable? The white walls with green accent cabinets. Although it has a darker shade, the green accent color still brightens the room.

RV Interiors with Bold Accent Colors_2

Here, the light blue accent cabinets complement the grey walls and floors well. I like how the checked rug and curtains bring out this motorhome’s unique beauty.

RVs with Black Interiors

Black never disappoints when it comes to bringing out the elegance of an RV’s interior. The richness of this color makes it my default choice whenever I think of giving my recreational vehicle a worthwhile makeover. If you are confused about what color suits your RV, I advise you to always go for a black interior.

This dark RV interior shared by @ wendywisespaces is elegant. The black painted cabinets seamlessly compliment the yellow matt and walls with the red painted table, making it beautiful.

RVs with Black Interiors_3

The motorhome posted by @ Cass Kessler has a beautiful black interior shown by this amazing lighting fixture and large windows. The evenly distributed lighting makes the interior unique and amazing.

Colorful Themed RV

Imagine blending several complementary colors on your RV to give it an eye-catching and beautiful interior. Although it is hard work to pull this off, the results will be impeccable as it will make your motorhome brighter and elegant, just like the examples shared below.

Rachel shared this impressive RV interior painting, which is truly magical. I love how she covered the walls with the vibrant rainbow design and added rainbow drips and accents to the vintage fridge. I can’t help but believe creating this design was also an exciting experience.

Colorful Themed RV_1

Sarah ( @purposeblog ) evaded painting this camper van with a plain white interior, opting for this adorable tickled pink. The pink theme perfectly blends with other multiple colors in the RV such as the pastel-colored rug tie, yellow, blankets, and teal chair. Although I find this interior elegant, this type of painting requires professional skills.

Colorful Themed RV_2

This camper trailer shared by @ projectvanlife has a blend of many colors, properly placed, which I find very appealing.

A Theme with Bright and Contrasting Color

Painting the RV with bright and contrasting colors will add magnificence to its interior. Check out these RVs where contrasting colors made a great difference.

Lisa and Dan, the brains behind the @AlwaysOnLiberty.com blog, used colorful and bright paint to cover their walls and didn’t paint their cabinet. The contrasting colorful walls make the room beautiful.

A Theme with Bright and Contrasting Color_1

This campervan, revamped by @ Simply Living Designers , was repainted with white walls. However, the shades of lime green and turquoise on the trim and cabinets contrast.

A Theme with Bright and Contrasting Color_2

This camper is beautiful with the contrasting Tiffany blue, lime green, and red beneath the couch. The black and white stands and grey couches also add more elegance. This is a complex DIY project as it requires advanced skills.

A Theme with Bright and Contrasting Color_3

Grey and White Theme

Grey and white colors always complement perfectly and are a great blend for an RV’s interior. These colors make smaller rooms appear expansive and cool, like in the examples below.

The @ RV Market Place shared this amazing RV interior with a blend of white and grey. The grey tiles also complement the entire theme, making it eye-catching.

Grey and White Theme_1

Besides the beautiful effects of the white ceiling and walls with the grey cabinets, I also liked the touch of uniqueness the brown couch and wooden table top add.

Grey and White Theme_2

The ambiance in this RV posted by @qrvinsurance makes it feel homely, and as always, the dark grey walls and lining with the white floors and ceiling are incredibly gorgeous.

Grey and White Theme_3

White and Wooden Themed RV

Combining white and wooden themes can make an RV’s interior appear rich and exclusively beautiful. Whether the shade of the wooden fixtures is bright or dull, it will still light up the room with beauty, as proven by these motorhomes.

The White walls and upper cabinets in this space, shared by @ wendywisespaces blend perfectly with the wooden frames and door, creating an amazing beauty. The brown rug also complements this theme, making it lovelier.

3 Types of Paint For an RV Interior And Why You Need the Primer

Before commencing the adventure of repainting your RV, seeking more info about the available paint options is essential. This will help in guiding your purchase. In this section, I discuss three main RV paints that are suitable for your RV renovation project.

1. Latex Paints AT

This paint is budget-friendly, easy to maintain, and clean after drying. However, this paint will require more prep and a high-quality coat to enhance its durability before applying it. Additionally, it can also peel. Some of the best brands are RECOLOR, Contego, and Glidden, renowned for their durability

2. Oil-Based Paints

Most RVers love this paint due to its longevity. During painting, it doesn’t leave brush strokes and is easier to clean once applied. It also needs a few coats to make your RV walls appealing compared to latex paints. The best brands offering beautiful and durable coats include Trade Paints, NEROLAC, and Rust-Oleum.

3. Water-Based Paints

This paint is ideal for most users as it needs minimal prep work before use. However, it is costlier than oil-based paint, and its durability is low. Brands like Rust-Oleum, Metallic Paint Collection, and Ecotex offer the best quality as they offer better results with a few coats.

Tips for Picking Your RV Paint Color Scheme

How can you create a distinctive color combination for your RV interior painting idea?

If you have a free wall in your RV, perhaps consider putting in custom RV shelves like these!

Not only are they practical, but they also look great! I mean, who doesn’t want a coffee bar like this in their RV?! Haha!

21. @jorydesigns

Isn’t this one of the most darling tiny homes you’ve ever seen?! I love it!

One thing that I really like about this camper renovation is that they replaced the light fixtures, which is always a good idea if you’re trying to improve the feel of a space like this.

And, of course, I love the cabinet colors they chose and the textures they added to the upper cabinets as well. Such an inviting space!

Some serious RV inspiration (and envy) here! Great post!

Right?! Some serious talent for sure! 😊 Thanks so much for reading!

I was wondering does peel and stick wallpaper stay on the walls in an RV in the Minnesota winters

I’m not sure about Minnesota specifically, but we‘ve been through two harsh winters and haven’t had any issues with ours!

LOVE these! I wish I was more handy and crafty with better interior design sense. Our RV is still the basic brown everything (when will RV manufacturers finally realize we’re sick of everything being brown and outdated in RVs?!). But I did start adding a peel & stick backsplash in the kitchen. I ran out before I could finish (ugh!) and just ordered more. Can’t wait to have it done and do it in the bathroom too. It’s really classed up the joint for such a small and [relatively] easy change!

It’s amazing how little changes can make everything seem better! 🙌🏼

How are these RV’s!! Sooo gorgeous

Right?! They are all so beautiful!

Wow! 🤩 these are all stunning 😍 definitely have some ideas for a few new projects! 😆

Me too! 🤩 I’m so excited to get started!

Wow, I find it so hard to believe that these are all RVs! How do they look so good while my apartment looks like a mess? Thanks for sharing!

These are all beautiful! It is one of my goals to have a tiny home on wheels. I would love a custom bus so that my family could travel. I don’t do planes anymore.

It’s a wonderful lifestyle, I highly recommend it!! ☺️

What a great RV inspiration!

They are all so beautiful! Definitely makes me inspired to do my own 😊

Wow! I love these ideas! These rv renovations give us so many ideas. I love the extra storage ideas and all the additions. I think my favorites are the outdoor laundry room and the one with the loft! Super cute little extras! Thanks for all these amazing ideas.

Those are some of my favorites as well! So inspirational!

This is something on my bucket list of things to do one day. I would love to have an RV and travel.

We love full time RV living! If you ever have any questions about it, feel free to reach out ☺️

This post makes me want to go continue to renovate my RV, so so many pretty spaces created by so many!

Lots of talented people for sure! 🤩

RV Painting Ideas: 34 COLORFUL RV Interior Makeovers

This post may contain affiliate links.

If you want to paint your RV interior but don’t want to do the popular all-white look, you’ve come to the right place for RV paint ideas! Colorful RVs are hard to come by!

In this article, you’ll find a round-up of photos of renovated RV interiors painted with bright and bold paint colors to inspire your RV renovation.

Colorful RVs with Bright Contrasting Colors

To start off this list of RVs with colorful paint schemes, this bold camper has purple walls and turquoise cabinets. This camper lives at Flamingo Springs Trailer Resort in Palm Springs, Florida, along with several other renovated vintage campers—all available to book as nightly rentals.

To get your painted cabinets and walls to look professionally done, be sure to follow all the necessary preparations. Check out this video for a more detailed look at the process:

Bold colors don’t have to just be paint! This trailer renovation paired pink-tinted wallpaper with yellow wainscoting to create a garden cottage aesthetic.

This camper renovated by Simply Living Designers does have white walls, but the cabinets and trim are painted in contrasting shades of turquoise and lime green.

Dan and Lisa Brown, owners of the blog AlwaysOnLiberty.com , chose to paint their walls in bright, colorful shades while leaving their cabinets unpainted.

RVs with the Interior Painted Just One Color

A look I love is where the walls and cabinets are painted the same bold color, like in this RV with dark green walls, cabinets, and slide trim.

RV with green walls and cabinets

One of my favorite RV interiors of all time is this fifth wheel renovation by @RVentropy , which reminds me of an urban loft apartment with its bright blue walls and cabinets, faux brick wallpaper , and faux tin ceiling tiles .

RVs with White Walls and Bright Colored Cabinets

RVs notoriously have a LOT of cabinetry. Painting all of the cabinets a bright color against white walls as a backdrop is a good way to introduce color to your RV without the RV feeling too dark.

Here’s one example:

RV with dark green cabinets

The dark green cabinets with gold curtains give the camper richness, but the white walls and ceilings reflect the light coming in through the windows, so the RV still appears very bright.

In this RV, the cabinets were painted a soothing shade of blue that lends a modern farmhouse vibe.

RV with blue cabinets

The owner of this RV chose to paint only the doors of her cabinets bright blue with white cabinet boxes, and I love how it looks.

Vintage campers are especially fun to renovate in bright colors since they’re already so cute!

Vintage camper with light turquoise cabinets

The pink decor perfectly contrasts with the bright green cabinets in the photo below.

RV with cabinets painted green

For a subtle burst of color, this white-walled remodel painted just the lower cabinets blue.

We’ve seen this look a few times!

Green has also been a favorite in the past few years—no matter the shade! Here the team at Camp Revival chose bright green cabinets with a bold backsplash and sleek wood countertops .

All shades of green—from dark evergreens to light mint—have been popular in renovations in the past few years. Scroll through these beauties.

RVs with Colorful Walls and White Cabinets

If you’re not quite brave enough to paint both your cabinets and walls in a bold color, another look that’s a bit easier to pull off is a fun color for the walls, but paint the cabinets and trim white. Like this chic salmon wall paint:

RV with peach walls

The RV in this photo is actually one of the first painted RV interiors I ever saw. It was posted on a blog way back in 2014, before renovating RVs to live in full time was such a trend!

RV with walls painted lime green

Most people paint their RV interior to make it less brown. Who knew chocolate-colored walls could actually look great?

RV Interiors with Bold Accent Colors

Maybe you like the light and airy look, but you’re just looking to add a pop of color with some fun accents.

I love the accent shiplap wall paired with the painted cabinets! It’s just enough color without darkening the room.

The yellow cabinets add a splash of color, but don’t forget those tiles on the steps!

They add so much color and personality and are easy to install.

  • High Quality Material - Environmentally friendly vinyl material, flat printed PVC tile sticker, easy to clean and maintain, strong adhesion, waterproof and oil-proof, easy to remove, will not leave any debris, will not damage the wall, and will not fade.

I’m surprised I don’t see RVs with red kitchen cabinets more often. There is so much potential for cute decor!

RV with cabinets painted red

I love how this tiny wall of green palm wallpaper completely sets the tone for this RV remodel! The space would have plain white walls and unpainted cabinets without it, and the splash of wallpaper adds so much personality.

These bright orange cabinets were a brave choice, but I love them, especially in contrast with the blue velvet sofa . How could you keep from smiling in that kitchen?

Even though most of the walls and cabinets in this RV are white, it is still one of the most colorful campers I’ve seen due to the vivid decor!

RV with purple cabinets

I love the added color of the purple cabinets in this RV kitchen, but the black paint for the fireplace adds just as much color! The white walls, dinette, and upper cabinets keep the RV light even with the dark color choices.

Gold is a color I had not seen on camper cabinets until I saw this photo, but I love the mid-century modern vibe it lends to this RV.

RV with cabinets painted gold

I always love the look of darker shades of green against natural stained wood, as seen in this RV renovated by Wayland Ventures .

RVs with Black Interiors

Black is a color, right? I just love the richness black gives these RV interiors!

Many people are afraid to renovate a newer RV, but the fifth wheel below renovated by Forge and Trek shows what’s possible with some of the more recent fifth wheel floor plans.

Choosing a shade of charcoal can be hard, but this one is just about perfect. I asked for the name of it: “Carbonized” by HGTV Sherwin Williams.

Tips for Picking Your RV Paint Color Scheme

How do people come up with striking color combinations to use in campers?

One way is to start with a piece of decor with colors you like, such as a rug, throw pillow, or painting, then choose colors from it.

You can use a free tool like this one to help pull colors from an image that looks good together.

17 Exciting Things to do in Moscow

Written By: Linda Voltaire

Updated On: December 21, 2022

the very best things to do in moscow

Visiting Russia? These are the top 17 things to do in Moscow to help you plan your trip.

If the western world has New York City , the first great metropolis on the eastern side of our planet is Moscow. A huge city with a complicated and impressive history, Moscow gets a bad rep over Russian politics – but that doesn’t make it any less impressive. Capital to the largest country in the world, Moscow takes the grandeur of its standing very seriously.

This is a place where luxury is king and where opulence takes a front seat in every aspect of life. The buildings are grand and imposing, the parks are luscious and enormous, and even the subway stations look different in Moscow than anywhere else in the world.

Table of Contents

Best Things to do in Moscow, Russia

Walking around Moscow is also going through the tumultuous history of the 20th century, which had Russia as one of its main protagonists. There are fascinating remains of these times everywhere in the former Soviet capital, from the gorgeous Seven Sisters skyscrapers to the Orthodox cathedrals that were closed for the better part of a century.  Still, Moscow is also a completely modern city, with a vibrant social and party scene, incredible restaurants, and some of the most luxurious hotels in the world.

After living in Russia’s capital as an ex-pat for four years, I got the privilege to experience not only the main attractions in Moscow but also the everyday life in this huge city and quickly found my sweat spots off the beaten tracks! So here is my list of my top 17 things to do in this exciting metropolis!

things to do in moscow russia | russian market

Attractions in Moscow

When visiting a famous city like this one, it’s a must to go through the most iconic landmarks first. Moscow has plenty of those, most of them in the center of the city, which is very well-planned for tourists.

1. The Red Square, Kremlin & Surrounding Area

moscow tourist attractions | St. Basil’s Cathedral

No place tells the story of Moscow’s power in the past century the way the Red Square does. This is where the biggest political meetings in the USSR occurred for many decades, and you can feel the power on each step.

Here, you’ll also find the historic museum at the entrance, showcasing the decades of history behind this iconic landmark. The Lenin Mausoleum, perhaps the most famous resting place in the world and home to the remains of the former communist leader, is also here.

On one side of the Red Square you’ll find the Kremlin, the fortified complex that now hosts the presidential residence. This is also home to the most iconic of all Moscovite landmarks: St. Basil’s Cathedral, a 16th-century marvel of colors. This is the best spot to take a selfie and show the world you’ve reached the Russian capital!

  • Get your Kremlin Skip the Line Tickets and Kremlin tour here.
  • Free cancellation up to 24-hours in advance of the tour.

2. Bolshoi Theatre

moscow things to do | bolshoi theatre

You can easily spend a couple of days just exploring the Moscovite city centre, and the Bolshoi Theatre should be your second stop. Walk past the Red Square and then head to the nearby Bolshoi Theatre, one of the oldest and most renowned houses of opera and ballet on Earth.

Visit for the impressive early 19th-century architecture, but if you’re seeing a ballet performance, make sure you book between 3 and 6 months in advance! I can strongly recommend this as it is a truly unique experience!

  • Book a private 2-hour tour of the legendary Bolshoi Theatre.
  • See the presidential box reserved for tzars, watch a rehearsal and skip the lines through a separate entrance.
  • Free Cancellation up to 24-hours in advance.

3. Luxury Shopping at GUM and TSUM

russia moscow sites | GUM

While many might think of Moscow as the sad place with the long bread queues from the USSR days, it’s been quite the capitalist haven for a while.

If you’re up for some shopping, you’ll find one of the biggest luxury malls in town, TSUM, right behind the Bolshoi and GUM, at the red square. GUM is the most famous department store in town, where you’ll find luxury everywhere and all high-end brand.

All in an imposing late 19th-century building with lots of history, worth a visit just for the design, its bridges and the glass roof even though you are not up for shopping!

4. Christ the Savior Cathedral

things to see in moscow | christ the savoir cathedral

A newer addition to the gorgeous Moscovite cathedrals and my grandeur neighbor during my years in the city Don’t let the young age of this building fool you. After the perestroika in the early 90s, the newly revived Russian Orthodox Church received permission to build a cathedral on this site. They did the location honors and built the largest temple of the Christian Orthodox Church.

The façade is as grand as you’d expect, but it’s the inside that will mesmerize you, with its domes as tall as the skies in bright gold and gorgeous paintings and decor! Bring a shawl to cover your hair to adjust to the local tradition.

Head to the back of the cathedral and you will find one of the most photographed bridges in Moscow, the Patriarshiy Most. This is the perfect spot to get a good view and photo of the cathedral but also to see the Kreml and Gorky Park from a distance. Or why not just enjoy a moment watching the river and its boats!

  • Get around Moscow with ease using the Hop On Hop Off boat and Bus ticket. 24, 48 or 72-hour tickets available.

5. Gorky Park

tourist attractions in moscow | gorky park

Cross the river and head to Gorky Park along the Moscow river. The most famous green area in town, similar to New York ’s Central Park and the weekend hangout for locals. There are many beautiful parks in the city, but if you’re only visiting for a few days, this is the unmissable one!

With fair attractions to entertain children, beautiful artificial lakes and gardens, and lots of outdoor activities, it’s a lovely place to relax. A place of rest in the middle of the metropolis. The area in front of the New Tretyakov Gallery & the Muzeon Park of Arts is actually one of my favorite oasis as a bit more quiet and peaceful than Gorky itself.

Why not spend some time in the museum to get a great tour of Russia’s history through art or just enjoy the art exhibition outside where local artists spend their weekends.

6. River Cruising

tourist attractions points of interest

One of the best ways to experience Moscow is from the Moscow River. There are many stops for the boats and one is just next to Gorky Park. See the city from another perspective – and turn the ride into a romantic one by taking the evening cruise. Moscow is magic during the night.

If you’re looking for a truly luxurious experience, take the Radisson Blu cruise – or the Erwin for a delicious seafood dinner. Both stop at Gorky or at the luxury Radisson Royal Hotel, set in one of the Seven Sister’s skyscrapers.

  • We use Get Your Guide when booking city tours and they offer a River Sightseeing Cruise seeing all the main tourist attractions in Moscow

7. Metro Hopping

unusual things in moscow | train station

First inaugurated in the 1930s, the Moscow subway system is one of the oldest in the world, and certainly the most beautiful. Started under Stalinist times, each metro station is dedicated to grandeur and oozing personality.

Visiting the subway stops is an attraction in and of itself, and Komsomolskaya, Mayakovskaya, Kropotkinskaya are my favorites. Those surrounding the Red Square are also mesmerizing – in general, these are kind of like underground palaces.

Most of the signs at the Moscow Metro now have Latin letters, so it’s very easy to get around!Unfortunately, the trains are not as beautiful and pleasant as the stations but still, this is a true Moscow experience.  Take a guided tour of the 9 most beautiful Metro Stations including the award-winning art deco station. See more details here.

8. Arbatskaya & Artsy Moscow

place to visit in moscow | arabatskaya

Novy Arbat Street is one of the most touristy areas in the city, with lots of shops and cafés directed at visitors. When you walk a little beyond, you’ll find a different part of town, where the hip scene thrives because so many artists live in the area. Just follow the small streets with fewer tourists!

9. Moscow State University View

moscow unique things to do | university

In his effort to create a grander Moscow, Stalin had seven skyscrapers built in different parts of town; they’re called the Seven Sisters. The largest of these buildings hosts the main building of the Moscow State University, one of the most prestigious colleges in Russia – and the one with the best view.

Although this is a little outside the city centre, the sight from above is more than worth it, with the nearby fountains and park and then the whole of the city behind them.

10. Russian Market

where to shop in moscow | russian market

If you love to visit markets wherever you go, Moscow has one of the most impressive ones in the world – the Izmailovsky. You can easily take the metro here and feel like you’ve been transported to another time.

This place was first built in the 16th century and retains the look of an old fairytale, with a lineup of colorful old castle. A lovely local experience beyond the confines of the bustling metropolis, where you can also try some delicious Russian barbecue.

Here, you’ll find beautiful souvenirs at great prices.

Off The Beaten Track Moscow

unique moscow things to do | graffiti

Once you’ve covered the most touristic spots, Moscow still has plenty to offer – and the places below will also be full of locals! Moscow is a city for hipsters, full of trendy and arty spots where you can literally feel the creativity oozing! So for some local vibes, I would strongly recommend my sweat spots below!

11. Patriarshiye Prudy

moscow unique things to do | patriarshy prudy

This is my favorite area in the entire city! While Moscow is generally a very noisy metropolis, Patriarch Ponds is far quieter, yet such a vibrant place. This is a very hip and trendy area making you think you are rather in Paris than in Moscow. Here the streets are narrow and full of chic eateries and clubs to see the local crowd.

A little bohemian and with an air of peace you won’t find anywhere in the city this is a great spot to spend an afternoon with your thoughts.

12. ArtPlay

museums in moscow | artplay

Barely 15 minutes away from the city center you’ll find the artsiest Moscow district: ArtPlay. For decades, this block was a factory, but it was renovated to become a hub for the arts not too long ago.

Now, you’ll find it’s full of exhibitions, showrooms and art schools – and some of the most creative people in town. Writers, painters, and young hip people use ArtPlay as a rendezvous, and you can feel the creative energy here. The industrial design with modern interior decoration is also a feast for the eyes!

13. Shopping Local Designs

moscow sightseeing | shopping district

If you’re into design, both international and local, you’ll find lots of cute things at Patriarshiye Prudy. Department store Podium Market is also a great spot for shopping, as a department store everywhere in town, with lots of local and international brands. There’s one in the Four Seasons Hotel next to Red Square. My favorite Moscow mall is Tsvetnoy Central Market, a cool spot with great brands, lots of inspo, and even a cute café!

14. Moscow City

modern skyscrapers of moscow

Like many other great capitals of the world, for the past few decades, Moscow has hosted a super modern area full of modern skyscrapers – Moscow City. With a completely different vibe than the rest of town, it’s like a mini Dubai, with lots of impressively tall glass buildings. Here, you’ll find the best rooftops in towns, such as Ruski and Sixty they are perfect spots for dining or enjoying a glass of wine with a view. There are also a relatively new shopping mall with lots of international brands called Affimall!

Wine, Dine, and Party in Moscow

view of moscow from ruski

Gone are the gloomy Moscow days – cold as it might be in the winter, Russia’s capital is a place for the senses. Great food and drinks abound – and the clubs are hot, too!

15. Where to Eat in Moscow

where to eat in moscow

Moscow is a great metropolis where people love to dine out, and there are endless options for delicious food. The flavors are as diverse as you’d expect from a big city, with options of fine dining and little hipster eateries.

  • For traditional Russian flavors, I can’t recommend Café Pushkin, Dr. Zhivago, and Turnadot enough.
  • When looking for international cuisines, Italian is always the way to go, and my local favorite is Probka.
  • Fine dining is best done among the clouds at White Rabbit, with European flavors.
  • As for the hip spots, you can spend a full day just eating around trendy places, from burgers to Asian fusion.

More Dining Options

white rabbit moscow russia

  • Patriarshiye Prudy offers a lot of small and classy spots with cool concepts, like breakfast restaurants I Love Cake and Fresh.
  • For dinner, I love the NYC experience of Saxon & Parole, and the wonderful trendy Pins, with its delicious food and drinks.
  • For delicious Asian food head to CutFish.
  • Lastly, there’s a recent revival of food markets in Moscow, offering lots of great choices of international flavors at affordable places.
  • Don’t miss out the Vietnamese food stand at the Danilovsky market, and everything at Usachevsky!

16. Rooftopping

things to do in moscow russia | city scape

Big cities deserve to be seen from above, having a cocktail among the clouds. These are my recommendations for rooftop bars in Moscow.

  • As I mentioned in the Moscow City section, Sixty & Ruski are two of my favorites, overlooking the newest part of town.
  • White Rabbit and its fine dining is also a lovely place for a fun dinner looking down on Moscow.
  • O2, in the city center, has an advantage above all others: amazing views of the Red Square.
  • Buono, above the Radisson Royal Hotel, might be the most romantic rooftop hotel in town, with its candlelit setting.
  • Also on the Radisson stands the Mercedes. It’s a luxurious and posh experience with delicious cocktails.
  • The Sky Lounge offers a peculiar experience, mixing an old Soviet building with futuristic additions.

17. Moscow by Night

must do in moscow | moskva river

Party the night away! The city is full of bars everywhere, but there are some areas where you’ll find more than others.

  • Patriarshiye Prudy has lots of hip and small clubs and great bars, including the super fun private club Clava, which has a great vibe and people from all walks of life.
  • For more hipster style bars, Red October is the place to go.
  • Streak is a summer favorite, with a lovely terrace to catch a beautiful sunset – plus, their mozzarella bar is delicious.
  • At night, Red October lights up with clubs everywhere, including the cool rooftop one Gipsy.
  • Jagger is also a great spot during summer with a more relaxed vibe in garden setting.
  • For the traditional Russian luxury experience, go to SohoRooms, a whole other world including all-night go-go dancers.

There are so many things to do in Moscow at night and during the day, you definitely need several days to explore this exciting destination.

Moscow is a must-see city, a city like no other ! I hope you will enjoy this Russian metropolis as much as I did!

These places look so awesome! Moscow is truly a beautiful city

Very good article, you have explained so nicely. Russia has always been a part of history and its good to know about much more about architecture and other things, wish i could see the inside of façade

Thanks for sharing such a nice article. You have very beautifully explained everything that one need for a trip to Moscow.

Nice article. Love the hidden gems and graffiti art, would love to visit Artplay. Thanks for a comprehensive guide to Moscow!

Moscow is a city where the past and the future live side by side. Here we can find everything from medieval fortresses and Soviet monoliths to glass skyscrapers and innovation centers.

Your article is good and meaningful .

Thanks for sharing about ArtPlay district, we didn’t know about it and it looks amazing 🙂 Hopefully there’ll be a second time in Moscow, we visited last May and really liked the city!

Wonderful stuff! I’ve been to Moscow, but not properly – it’s a long story lol!

Anyhoo, my next thing is to fly from Berlin to Moscow and then travel from there to Beijing via the Trans-Mongolian / Trans-Siberian train. Now, if only I could just find the time …!

I hear Moscow is very beautiful at night. I hope to get out there one day. A friend of mine went to St. Petersburg and had a great experience. Despite all the tension we see on the news with Russia and other Countries like the U.S. I wonder what the sentiment is with Russians and foreigners visiting their country for tourism.
