I've been reading here about how bad Season 3 is but I am now on Ep. 7 and have already watched several really good episodes in this season. It's true that And The Children Shall Lead is terrible but ...

The biggest problem I always had with TOS is now no longer an issue
Star Trek has been predicting the future from the beginning. On screen = zoom. Communicators became cell phones. Talking to the computer is basically the norm and a lot of situations involving things like Alexa or Siri. Star Trek the next generation basically invented the iPad… Honestly, I look at it from the perspective of trailblazing.

Though, much like in The Original Series, warp speeds were still often plot ...

It's only moderately bad TV, but it's DREADFUL Star Trek. TOS wasn't always great about women, being in the 60s and all, but aside from The Cage, the show clearly tries to scrape itself out as being pro-women. Star Trek TOS IS Suprisingly Good : r/startrek
It's a great episode which displays the central (and sadly quite unique) ethos of Star Trek very well: empathy, curiosity, rationality and understanding are the traits with which we should approach the world, its challenges and dangers. Just because something is threatening does not mean it is evil or needs to be fought aggressively.
