Robbie Williams at Manchester AO Arena - stage times, setlist, support and what to expect on XXV tour
Pop showman Robbie Williams is heading back to Manchester this weeks for three huge shows - here's everything you need to know
- 15:43, 17 OCT 2022
The ultimate pop showman Robbie Williams will be returning to Manchester next week for a string of huge gigs to celebrate 25 years as a solo artist. Manchester, of course, is where he first found fame as one fifth of boyband Take That , so the city will always have a special place in his heart.
And, naturally, when he announced his big arena return earlier this year, tickets were selling so quickly for his first two Manchester gigs that a third date was added. He'll be at the AO Arena on Wednesday October 19, before returning on Friday and Saturday (October 21 and 22).
The tour for Tunstall's finest Robbie , 48, comes on the back of his new album XXV featuring many of his greatest hits and fan favourites, which were all re-recorded and newly orchestrated with the Metropole Orkest. The autumn arena tour is billed as "a joyous celebration of Robbie’s 25 years as a solo artist".

Fans can expect some of his biggest hits on the setlist and some huge fan singalongs to the likes of Come Undone, Rock DJ, Kids, Feel and, of course, Angels.
There's likely to be a nod to a few Take That classics too. And heck, he might even roll out a bit of Oasis, if his homecoming show in Stoke-on-Trent earlier this year was anything to go by when he did a cheeky bit of Don't Look Back in Anger. Here's what we know so far about the gig if you're heading along to any of the Manchester shows this week to help you plan your night.
Who is the support act?
Support on this new tour comes from Lufthaus, which is yes, the new Robbie Williams electronic project. But we're told Robbie does not actually appear during the support set from the band's Tim Metcalfe and Flynn Francis, but you will hear his vocals.
Lufthaus merge music, art and digitial technology in their live performance so it will definitely be worth getting their early to give them a watch.
Stage times
Stage times are always given as a rough guide and are subject to change. The advice is always to arrive as early as possible to get through the security checks and to find your seats as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.
Doors — 6:00 pm
Lufthaus — 7:30 pm
Robbie Williams — 8:40 pm
Curfew — 11:00 pm
Robbie kicked off the new tour at London's 02 Arena on October 9, before continuing on to Birmingham's ResortWorld Arena. He's played roughly the same set at both venues, so this is likely what we can expect here at the Manchester gigs this week.
Hey Wow Yeah Yeah
Let Me Entertain You
Land of 1000 Dances
Come Undone

Don't Look Back in Anger

Are tickets still available?
There is only limited availability on seats for the first two nights, October 19 and 21, which were the first to go on sale earlier this year. A third date was announced for Saturday October 22, where some tickets are still available.

Robbie Williams proves why he should headline Glastonbury 2025 at epic BST Hyde Park show
7 July 2024, 11:36
By Tom Eames
Robbie Williams isn't one for a quiet evening's entertainment.
Listen to this article
The 50-year-old began his headline show at last night's (July 6) BST Hyde Park by asking if he's the nation's greatest living entertainer, and after two hours of swaggering banger after banger, the answer is most definitely yes.
Yes, it certainly helped that a large percentage of those in attendance were living off the high of England's Euro 2024 penalties win, but even if the team had lost, Robbie would have been the perfect antidote.

Over 60,000 people flocked to London to watch the former Take That man do what he does best in the summer sunshine, kicking off as ever with 'Let Me Entertain You'.
Pretty much every song in his setlist was terrace-chant-ready, from 'Strong' to 'Rock DJ' to 'Kids'.
Much like his previous XXV tour, he took fans through a self-deprecating look back at his life and career, complete with a VT of Take That 's first jelly-covered video for 'Do What U Like', and a heartwarming performance of 'Back for Good', before he asked for cheers to his four boyband pals.
There were some fun surprises too, including bringing on Supergrass' Gaz Coombes for '90s favourite 'Alright', and an inspired appearance of Danny Dyer for a cover of Blur's 'Parklife': "The duo you never thought you needed".

Robbie also paid tribute to fallen idols including George Michael , Freddie Mercury , Amy Winehouse and Elvis Presley during his underrated tune 'Advertising Space'.
Following the mixed reviews of the 2024 Glastonbury headline choices and strange artist scheduling (poor Lulu played her final ever concert on one of the smallest stages going!), Robbie has made a strong claim for the Sunday headliner option for 2025.
Hearing over 60,000 people chant 'Angels' is all you need on a sunny July evening.

Previously speaking about his headlining gig in a press statement, Williams shared: “It’s an honour to be back headlining BST Hyde Park alongside an incredible line-up of music talent. The Hyde Park shows are truly special and I can’t wait to come back this summer. See you there!”
Other artists who are still set to perform as part of the 2024 BST Hyde Park shows include Andrea Bocelli (July 5), Shania Twain (July 7), Stevie Nicks (July 12), Kylie Minogue (July 13) and Stray Kids (July 14).
In other news, Williams recently reflected on his awkward and “rude” encounter with Cher , which left him “headbutting the wall” afterwards.
Elsewhere, the singer previously revealed that he has “written loads of songs” for a new album and is feeling “full of purpose and loving life” .
He made the comments during an interview with Virgin Radio, where he insisted that he is feeling more “ambitious” than ever before, and has written a heap of new material.
The comments shared by the former Take That member arrive after he shed light on his history of self-harm and depression , and encouraged people to be more “careful” about the comments they make towards those in the public eye.
Williams also confirmed that his dance side project Lufthaus – which sees him join forces with Flynn Francis and Tim Metcalfe – would be making their UK live debut at Creamfields 2024 .
More recently, he has recalled the occasion when a badly-received joke on X/Twitter made him reconsider his use of the social media platform .

Danny Dyer talks covering Parklife with Robbie Williams at BST Hyde Park
By Jenny Mensah
The EastEnders star spoke to The Chris Moyles Show about his surprise appearance with Robbie Williams at BST Hyde Park.
Listen to this article
Danny Dyer has spoken out about his performance of Blur's Parklife with Robbie Williams.
The actor, podcaster and presenter - who plays Mick Carter in EastEnders - joined the Angels singer at his headline BST Hyde Park gig this Saturday (6th July) to treat fans to a rendition of the classic Britpop track.
Dyer, who performed the iconic lines usually taken on by Phil Daniels , revealed to Radio X's Toby Tarrant on The Chris Moyles Breakfast Show that the former Take That star approached him about the guest appearance at Soccer Aid.
Recalling the moment he was asked, he said: "I was like, what? Are you sure about this?' And he went, 'I've never been more sure of anything,' So I said yes, and then I thought, 'Oh now I've got to do it.'
"So, you know. I love the tune. I love Robbie and we done it. We done it. It was great. It was a real moment. I think it went down really well, you know."
Asked if his heart was thumping when he was waiting to go out on stage, he replied: "Oh god yeah. I can't lie to you. This is well out of my comfort zone. I've done some nutty things over the years, I've done a lot of theatre of course... You know, I didn't come until about song seven and I went down there to have a look and you get a glimpse of about 65,000 people and of course it's the ear pieces.
"And I didn't want these ear pieces in, but they say you have to have them because of course there's a delay and it was cutting out every two minutes [...] and sometimes what you gotta do is just face the fear and do it anyway."
He added: "Once I started I was sweet. And I listened to the song a lot. You've got to prepare, you know and I just channelled my inner Phil Daniels."
He added: "I loved it and it was a real moment and Robbie - he called it on and you never know quite what reception you're gonna get either and I got of love from the crowd. It was a beautiful thing."

Going onto praise Williams himself, Dyer added: "He's got some tunes in his locker that man. He's a very spiritual man as well. We all did the big huddle before the show. I was part of his band and you know, the dancers and everything and you're like 'Wow'.
"Sometimes these things come along and you've got to grab hold of them, you know? I'm doing some mad stuff at the moment. I'm on a mad run. I pretended to be a footballer at Soccer Aid and then I pretended to be a rock star."
He joked: "I've been pretending to be an actor for a very long time!"
Talking about playing the performance after England's EUROs win against Switzerland on the weekend and the Three Lions getting through to the Semi Finals, he added: "We were watching the football together. That was important, so we watched England first.
"It was important that we won that because it could have been a little bit flat. England won. The clouds all cleared. The blue skies came out and you was proud to be British on that stage. It was a very British affair and it was a beautiful, beautiful thing, so if he does go on tour I'll be there mate."
The former Take That star also continued to pay tribute to the Britpop era with a cover of Oasis anthem Don't Look Back In Anger .
The Stoke-on-Trent icon was also joined by Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes for a performance of the band's Alright anthem.

Inside Kings of Leon's unforgettable performance at Hyde Park - and their setlist revealed
Kings of Leon took the stage at the legendary British Summertime Festival , hosted by American Express, which was held at London's Hyde Park on Sunday. They delivered a performance that was nothing short of electrifying, giving the audience exactly what they were craving for.
Having watched them at the London O2 in 2022, my expectations were extremely high. But to my joy, the Followill clan - brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared, along with their cousin Matthew – proved once again why they are a force to be reckoned with in the world of rock music.
The American band, who last played at BST seven years ago, looked happy to be back headlining the Great Oak Stage and poked jibes that Glastonbury was happening on the same weekend. "But wouldn't you rather be here with us?" lead singer Caleb quipped to the crowd, who responded with enthusiastic cheers.

Nathan even took his position on the drums, wearing an England football shirt - a nod to the team's win against Slovakia just hours prior. "I was hoping we'd have fun tonight," added Caleb. "Didn't have any idea we'd have this much fun."
They are currently on their Can We Please Have Fun World tour which will see the band perform a number of shows across Europe as well as the States.
Playing their only London date, they delivered a setlist brimming with crowd favourites, including Sex on Fire, Use Somebody, Pyro and Closer whilst also showcasing songs from their latest offering, including Mustang and Split Screen. The musicians had the crowd singing along in unison, their voices echoing across the grounds.
Kings of Leon's stage presence was commanding yet understated - no elaborate pyrotechnics or over-the-top theatrics, just four musicians in their element, letting their music speak for itself. They had a vibrant backdrop of waterfalls and volcanoes, bringing an earthy and low-key dimension to the band's 105-minute setlist.
Their interaction with the crowd was genuine and heartfelt, with Caleb expressing his gratitude for the fans' unwavering support over the years. "It's such a joy to be here," said Caleb thoughtfully, clearly overcome by the atmosphere. "We haven't been here for seven years. It's one of my favourite places to be and be a part of."
Kings of Leon's performance at BST Hyde Park was a masterclass in music, a night of pure energy that has left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to be there.
