Linkin Park considering 2025 reunion tour with female singer, according to new report

The nu metal darlings’ booking agency is reportedly taking offers for their first tour since Chester Bennington’s death

Linkin Park - Meteora

Linkin Park are planning a reunion tour with a new lead vocalist for 2025, according to a new report.

The nu metal icons, whose 2000 debut album Hybrid Theory has been certified 12x Platinum in the United States, are hoping to return to the road with an unknown replacement for late vocalist Chester Bennington, says Billboard .

Bennington took his own life in July 2017, aged 41.

Outside of a tribute concert to the singer that October, the band haven’t performed live since.

They also haven’t released a new studio album since May 2017’s One More Light .

However, Billboard says that Linkin Park’s booking agency, WME, is now examining offers for a potential tour and festival headline dates featuring band members Mike Shinoda , Brad Delson and Dave Farrell.

One source told Billboard that the new vocalist the band are eyeing for the tour is female.

Multiple publications have approached Linkin Park representatives for comment and received no response.

Rumours of Linkin Park replacing Bennington with a female singer have circulated since early April.

Jay Gordon, frontman of US industrial rockers Orgy and former Linkin Park collaborator, told Wired In The Empire : “I hear they got a girl singer now. That’s what I heard.”

Gordon later retracted these claims via social media.

“With regards to this linkin park singer thing,” he posted on Facebook, “I know nothing about any of that. People sure do love to take my words out of context.

“I love those guys and wish them the best.

“Wow I was like what in the actual f**k? I said nothing about knowing any of that and never brought it up. I love Chester and there will never be another him ever.

“Strange that that dude [interviewer Mike Z] said something to me about it not the other way around. get real dude. Not cool!”

Despite Gordon’s statement that his interviewer “said something to me about it”, the singer made the comment about Bennington’s alleged replacement unprompted.

Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee was rumoured as a potential candidate for replacing Bennington, but denied that she’d been approached by Linkin Park in a recent interview.

“No, I have not been contacted or anything like that. But [I] feel like our worlds, our fanbases are a lot of the same people,” the frontwoman told iHeart Radio, Canada.

She later added: “But that’s awesome. They should ask me about that. I don't have a ton of free time, but I might do it part time.”

Linkin Park released their first greatest hits compilation, Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000–2023) , on April 12.

Report: LINKIN PARK Considering 2025 Reunion Tour With New Vocalist

According to Billboard , LINKIN PARK is considering a possible 2025 reunion tour with a female vocalist stepping in for late lead singer Chester Bennington .

LINKIN PARK 's booking agency WME is taking offers for a potential tour along with headlining festival dates that would feature Mike Shinoda , Brad Delson and Dave Farrell , Billboard 's sources say.

One of the sources told Billboard that LINKIN PARK is hoping to find a female vocalist to front the reunited band, a rumor which was first started last month by ORGY frontman Jay Gordon who mentioned during a radio interview that he had "heard" that LINKIN PARK was working with a "girl singer now". When pressed, Gordon continued by saying: "Don't quote me on that. I'm not sure who the singer is going to be, but I heard it was gonna be female. They might just try to move on like that. That ought to be interesting." Jay later seemingly walked back his comments, writing in a Facebook post that he knew "nothing about any of that" and accused "people" of taking his words "out of context.".

Last month, EVANESCENCE 's Amy Lee was asked about the some LINKIN PARK fans' desire to see her step in as the replacement for Bennington . "That is an incredible compliment," she said after being told that she was a fan favorite to fill the slot. "I have not heard that. No, I have not been contacted [by LINKIN PARK ] or anything like that. But [I'm a] huge fan feel like our worlds, our fanbases are a lot of the same people."

She continued: "That's really sweet. We never… Well, did we play shows [together]? I don't know if [ EVANESCENCE and LINKIN PARK ] were on a festival together or whatever. We met. We were in the studio at the same time. When we were making 'Fallen' , I just briefly got to have a conversation or two with Chester . He was really sweet.

"But no, it's not true," she clarified in regard to the rumors that could be LINKIN PARK 's new singer. "But that's awesome. They should ask me about that. I don't have a ton of free time, but I might do it part time."

In a recent interview with Revolver , Shinoda downplayed the possibility of a LINKIN PARK reunion, saying: "Rumors always go around. People always ask what's next for the band, and the best answer I can ever give anybody is when there's something to tell you, we will tell you. When there's an announcement to be made, it will be on LinkinPark.com. If you're hearing it from somebody else, you can trust that information as much as you want to trust it."

LINKIN PARK has just released a career-spanning greatest-hits album, "Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023)" . The record also features a previously unreleased track with Bennington , "Friendly Fire" , which was recorded during the sessions for the group's final studio album, 2017's "One More Light" . Bennington died later that year.

Linkin Park Are Reportedly Booking A 2025 Reunion Tour

While rumors of Linkin Park planning a retooled reunion tour of sorts had been circulating among the industry for several months, it wasn’t until Orgy vocalist Jay Gordon let slip that he had heard the band were reportedly planning to tour with a new female singer several weeks ago that the public got wind of the possible future of the diamond-certified nü-metal/alternative rock outfit.

Gordon would go on to walk back his comments, claiming to have been misquoted. However, Billboard are now reporting that a potential 2025 reunion tour from Linkin Park appears to be in the works. What’s more, that venture may indeed materialize with an as-yet unidentified female singer in place of the band’s beloved late vocalist Chester Bennington .

According to the aforementioned publication, booking agency WME has been taking offers for a possible 2025 reunion tour from the band, that will likely include festival appearances. The publication also cite sources claiming that vocalist/guitarist, etc. Mike Shinoda , guitarist/vocalist, etc. Brad Delson and bassist/vocalist Dave Farrell are among the members involved in this endeavor.

Industry rumors emerged several months ago that a Shinoda -led incarnation of the band had been fielding offers to play some of this spring’s rock big rock festivals, though those plans never came to pass.

This timing of the band’s apparent return follows a resurgence on the Billboard charts that has been propelled by the release of their greatest hits collection “ Papercuts “, which landed on April 12th.

Should Linkin Park follow through on this rumored return, you can rule out at least one fellow diamond-certified female vocalist who came up during the nü-metal era. Evanescence ‘s Amy Lee has denied being involved with the alleged reunion , though admitted she’d be open to fronting the outfit as a part-time gig.

The surviving members of Linkin Park ‘s classic era last took to the stage as a unit back on October 27th of 2017, performing as part of a tribute concert to the 41-year-old Bennington , who had taken his own life in July of that year.

Trending on Billboard

“I felt like it would connect well with fans that were around back then,” the Linkin Park co-frontman tells Billboard in early March. “I didn’t expect it to, like, trend on TikTok!”

“Lost” streaked to a No. 38 debut on the Hot 100 chart in February, marking the band’s best showing since 2012 and first top 40 hit since Bennington passed away in 2017. Its success not only speaks to Linkin Park’s enduring cross-generational appeal, but the continued interest in one of the band’s most fruitful album eras. Following the group’s mega-selling 2000 debut album Hybrid Theory, Meteora also moved millions of copies and spun off more hit singles – “Numb,” “Somewhere I Belong,” “Faint” and “Breaking the Habit” all became Hot 100 hits and long-running alt-rock radio staples – while expanding Linkin Park’s hard-rock palette to incorporate more incisive lyricism and adventurous production choices.

“In the era of Hybrid Theory , we were just kids in our bedrooms – we didn’t save stuff, we weren’t filming anything, video footage wasn’t a thing,” Shinoda explains. “The Hybrid Theory [reissue] did so well, everybody loved it so much, and we decided that we’d look into doing one for Meteora . And, immediately, we found so much good stuff .”

That includes six unreleased demos, led by “Lost” and the sharp-edged rap showcase “Fighting Myself,” which hit streaming services last month; three DVDs’ worth of previously unreleased concerts, including sets in Seoul, Manila, Denver and Philadelphia; behind-the-scenes footage of the band crafting Meteora while touring the world behind Hybrid Theory , including a candid, rollicking documentary titled Work in Progress ; and an expansive 40-page book, among other physical collectibles. Shinoda says that the vault is now empty on the band’s second album, no stone unturned, so listeners should savor every inch of this sprawling return.

It’s a treasure trove for diehard fans, but the crown jewel remains “Lost.” Bennington’s penchant for fragile verse melodies and scorched arena choruses is distilled into three minutes and change of soft-loud catharsis, with the electronic-leaning production and pummeling guitar coalescing as the song title escapes his mouth with fury and grace.

Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson tells Billboard that, when he listened to “Lost” for the first time in 20 years, “I was really taken aback, both by the song and particularly by Chester’s vocal performance. It’s just so beautiful and raw and stunning.”

Two decades later, streaming and radio programmers have belatedly embraced the single: “Lost” has earned 25.7 million on-demand official U.S. streams through March 30, according to Luminate, and has logged seven weeks at No. 1 so far on Billboard ‘s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, as well as seven weeks and counting at No. 1 on Rock & Alternative Airplay .

It’s a real, unearthed hit for Linkin Park – and between “Lost” taking off and the impending Meteora box set release, the band members are reliving a pivotal moment in their evolution. “There’s a natural interplay for me, in terms of memory and emotion,” says Delson. “It’s just brought me back to a really unique time.”

Shinoda remembers getting a note from a label rep near the end of their first album cycle, telling the band that Hybrid Theory had been the best-selling album on the planet in 2001. He and the rest of his bandmates – all in their early twenties – couldn’t comprehend the news: “We were like, ‘What does that even mean ? That’s ridiculous!’”

Hybrid Theory remains one of the biggest debut albums of all time – 13.58 million equivalent album units to date, with 11 million in sales, according to Luminate. But Delson says that such mind-boggling success created “a tremendous amount of pressure” for Bennington, Shinoda, bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, drummer Rob Bourdon and DJ Joe Hahn to deliver a worthy follow-up. “The joke is like, you have your whole life to make your first album, and you have three weeks to make your second,” Delson says with a laugh.

Linkin Park’s first album was brimming with hits and the world wanted more… but since the group was touring relentlessly behind their debut, they had to start hammering out new song ideas on the road, recording in their tiny studio in the back of their tour bus before linking back up with Hybrid Theory producer Don Gilmore for the follow-up album.

Because the band members were logging so much time on the road together – Shinoda estimates that they were playing 300 shows in the span of 365 days – the proximity helped all six members better understand each other’s creative impulses. Bennington had only joined the band in the spring of 1999, and while Shinoda says that they were still working through their dynamic as co-frontman throughout the creation of Hybrid Theory , their endless touring schedule brought them closer.

“We were living and breathing every minute together, which is a lot,” Shinoda says. “But when it was time to get in the studio, or when we were writing the songs, we were definitely really synchronized.”

“Numb,” the gutting sing-along which closes out Meteora , peaked at No. 11 on the Hot 100, and has arguably become Linkin Park’s signature hit over the past 20 years. (“The other week, I got the Spotify plaque for a billion streams,” Shinoda says of the song). Of course, “Numb” has also endured as one-half of “Numb/Encore,” from the Jay-Z/Linkin Park collaborative album Collision Course that the band released with the rap icon in 2004, which also became a top 20 hit. “[The song’s] other dimension is ‘Numb/Encore,’” says Delson. “You could love just one. However, I think about them in tandem.”

Ultimately, Meteora became another retail juggernaut for the band, with 8.55 million equivalent album units to date and 6.49 million in sales. Yet Linkin Park judged the success of their second album not by copies sold, charting singles or mash-up hits, but by how well it functioned as a succinct, effective artistic statement. It’s the reason why the band made the long-awaited follow-up to Hybrid Theory only 36 minutes long, despite coming in the age of severe CD-era bloat – and why they had so much fun recently rummaging through the Meteora archives.

“We always wanted an album to be a complete thought,” says Delson. “And we wanted to leave people wanting more.”

Throughout his time with Linkin Park, Shinoda has hopscotched between the band, other collaborations and individual endeavors, although following his 2018 solo album Post Traumatic , which reflected upon Bennington’s tragic death at the age of 41 the previous year, his output of proper releases slowed down. “I had been doing writing and production for other people for a while, almost two years,” Shinoda explains. “A lot of those songs went nowhere – sometimes because they maybe weren’t that great, sometimes because the artist just wasn’t feeling how they were fitting in with their material. And I was getting pretty discouraged. I made some demos just for fun, just to get out of my head, and I got the bug to make my own stuff again. It felt really good.”

Around the end of last year, as Shinoda and the rest of the group were wrapping up work on the Meteora box set, the producers of the Scream franchise came to him with an opportunity to contribute a song to the latest film. Shinoda connected with Lovato, who gravitated toward his demo for “Still Alive,” while the Scream producers also liked a demo for “In My Head” that had been gradually morphing into a Shinoda vocal track – so they grabbed both songs.

“With Demi and [co-writer] Laura Veltz, we turned it into this badass empowerment song,” Shinoda says of “Still Alive,” “while my song’s very different, more about intrusive thoughts and paranoia and second-guessing.” Although there’s no timetable on the release of more material with Shinoda as a vocalist, he’s enjoyed the recent process of stretching himself in the studio alongside other artists, and expects to score more credits soon.

For Shinoda, the process of tinkering with new songs coincided with the experience of revisiting an album created during a formative period in his life alongside the band mates that grew up alongside him. He describes the process of putting together the Hybrid Theory box set in 2020 “a little bittersweet,” three years removed from Bennington’s passing.

The Meteora 20th anniversary felt more free-wheeling, with the band members meeting in person or over Zoom, swapping stories and reacting to revived demos. Shinoda laughs when recounting how Farrell filled him in on watching some of the Work In Progress documentary with his family – the bassist’s kids mercilessly clowning on the band’s hairstyles, outfits and general witticisms.

Delson says that the fact that the band made an album worth revisiting 20 years later – for anyone, much less their millions of fans – is something he doesn’t take for granted. “Our goal was always to make a timeless album,” he says. “I give my band mates all the credit in the world for delivering the pure, emotional fiber that people love, and relate to, and make their own.”

“Our feelings center around gratitude,” says Shinoda of this moment. “They center around bringing back to life the joy we had, and the nervousness — you know, all of the feelings that came with putting out our second album.”

Report – Linkin Park Considering 2025 Reunion Tour With Three Classic Members + New Singer

Billboard is reporting that, according to sources close to Linkin Park , the band is considering a 2025 reunion tour with a woman singer and three classic members.

It is said that Linkin Park have yet to find this potential new vocalist, who would succeed the late Chester Bennington , but are searching for one.

Regarding this whispered reunion, the music publication also notes that booking agency WME  is "taking offers" for a tour and headlining festival dates "featuring  Mike Shinoda , Brad Delson and Dave Farrell." This suggests that longtime members Rob Bourdon and Joe Hahn  may not be involved.

Nothing in  Billboard 's report speculates what this means regarding what would then be the band's needs for a drummer and sampler/turntableist/synth player.

Orgy Singer Jay Gordon Leaked Linkin Park's Plans

At the end of March, Orgy singer Jay Gordon leaked details about Linkin Park's forthcoming plans , suggesting the band was going to regroup with a woman singer.

When asked about his favorite Chester Bennington memories, Gordon instead turned to the future rather than reflecting on the past.

“Very, very cool guys and obviously a great band. They’ve been around a long time and they’re still going for it. It’s going to be tough without Chester [Bennington], but we’ll see. I hear they got a girl singer now. That’s what I heard," Gordon said during the interview, which was released as a video.

Pressed about Linkin Park's return, Gordon offered, “Don’t quote me on that. I’m not sure who the singer is going to be," and then reiterated, "but I heard it was gonna be female. They might just try to move on like that. That ought to be interesting.”

After this news traveled, Gordon issued a statement in an attempt to reassign blame for his own comments. He claimed his words were taken "out of context," despite widespread media coverage which accurately quoted him.

The singer also claimed he "never brought it up," despite having done so on video. He said he knows "nothing about any of that" despite repeating the claim that he heard Linkin Park were aiming to continue with a woman singer. "Strange that that dude [interviewer Radioactive Mike Z] said something to me about it not the other way around," he falsely stated.

Again, Gordon was asked about memories with Bennington and, in response, he elected to bring up Linkin Park's future entirely on his own. After doing so, he was asked more about it as asking follow-up questions on breaking news are a standard practice of an interviewer.

Evanescence's amy lee shoots down rumors of her involvement.

After Gordon leaked the news, many began to speculate that Linkin Park's new singer could be Amy Lee of Evanescence .

"That is an incredible compliment," she told Canada's iHeart Radio in response to learning she was a "fan favorite" to land the role. "I have not heard that. No, I have not been contacted [by Linkin Park] or anything like that. But [I'm a] huge fan feel like our worlds, our fanbases are a lot of the same people," she added.

As to whether or not she would consider it, Lee went on, "They should ask me about that. I don't have a ton of free time, but I might do it part time."

Linkin Park Reveal Huge News On Reunion Tour

linkin park new tour

While fans of Linkin Park were excited after a thrilling cover of this Linkin Park classic, they’ve also been wondering if new material from the acclaimed nu-metal group will ever be released. The band has not performed together since October of 2017, mere months after the death of their beloved frontman, Chester Bennington. Lead vocalist Mike Shinoda recently issued the following video statement about the band’s future.

“The only Linkin Park news I have for you is that we talk every few weeks. I talk to the guys, some of the guys and there is no tours, no albums, no music in the pipeline. Let me just tell you that and keep in your minds that is not happening. I’m just going to say that much for now.

In other news concerning Linkin Park, co-founder Mike Shinoda has been enlisted by Warner Recorded Music to be the company’s Community Innovation Advisor. CEO, Max Lousada would state the following via Blabbermouth : “Central to our DNA at Warner is that we start with the artist experience. A passionate creative who’s deeply embedded in the rapidly evolving world of Web3, Mike’s perspective here will be invaluable. As we continue to accelerate deals and build out our expertise across the company, together we’ll navigate the possibilities at the intersection of music and technology with thoughtfulness and authenticity — to the benefit of our entire musical community.”

Shinoda would add: “There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to Web3; every artist and community is unique. Warner has made some strong first steps in this space, and I look forward to playing a role in further exploration — supporting artists in creating new opportunities, and connecting with fans in unimaginable new ways.”

Linkin Park On New Album ‘A Thousand Suns,’ Tour

By Mikael Wood

Mikael Wood

For their last album Minutes to Midnight , Linkin Park collaborated with Rick Rubin for an LP that found the band moving away from their trademark rap-rock sound. Now the California crew is teaming up with Rubin again for A Thousand Suns — and the iconic producer has helped the band find a totally new voice. “On the last record, Rick’s challenge was getting us to open up our perception of what our music could be,” singer Chester Bennington tells Rolling Stone . “This time we realized it doesn’t matter what the songs sound like. If we like it and it comes from us, it’s Linkin Park.” The group plans to release the album on September 14th while the first single, “The Catalyst,” will arrive on August 2nd.

A Thousand Suns might be Linkin Park’s most eclectic yet — with lyrics that address everything from the recession to the conflicts in the Middle East. One untitled track mixes Nine Inch Nails-style industrial punk with dreamy synth washes, while another lays a heavy hip-hop beat beneath Bennington’s heartfelt vocal performance. “We’ve got rapport with radio stations and people who want to put our band on the front page of their site,” says Mike Shinoda, who co-produced the disc with Rubin. “They’re gonna give us a shot more so than a band they’ve never heard of. So we’ve got this opportunity to take bigger chances with our records and do something a little more challenging.” Adds Rubin, “The band is making music from a pure place.”

Since releasing their last LP, frontmen Mike Shinoda and Chester pursued solo projects like Bennington’s Dead By Sunrise and Shinoda’s work with Hans Zimmer on the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen score. The time apart helped invigorate the band so much that they’re already considering a follow-up. “At this point we’re writing such great music that I almost want to go do 50 shows around the world and then get right back into making another record,” Bennington says. “Once the ball starts rolling, it’s all I want. It’s like a drug.”
