Types of Canada visas available for Indian citizens

Here are the types of visas that Canada offers to Indian citizens, including the Canada Visitor Visa:

Canada Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa - TRV): The Canadian Visitor Visa is a short-term visa that allows you to stay in Canada for up to 180 days Per Entry and is commonly used for tourism, visiting family or friends, or conducting short business trips.

Study Permit: This permit is required for those planning to undertake a course or program that lasts more than six months at a Canadian educational institution.

Work Permit: If you've secured a job offer in Canada, you can apply for a work permit. There are two types: an open work permit and an employer-specific work permit.

Super Visa: This multiple-entry visa enables parents or grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit Canada for up to two years at a time.

What is the Canada Visitor Visa for Indians?

The Canada Visitor Visa, officially known as the Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), is a type of visa that allows Indian citizens to enter and stay in Canada for a short period.

The Visitor Visa is primarily meant for people who are visiting Canada for tourism, to see family or friends, or to conduct short business trips.

Benefits of the Canada Visitor Visa for Indian citizens

The Canada Visitor Visa, or Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), offers numerous benefits for Indian citizens:

Tourism: With this visa, Indian citizens can explore Canada's vast and diverse landscapes, from the Rocky Mountains in Alberta to bustling multicultural cities like Toronto and Vancouver and the historical sites of Quebec and Nova Scotia.

Visiting family or friends: If you have family members or friends residing in Canada, a Visitor Visa lets you visit them and experience the Canadian way of life firsthand.

Business opportunities: The visa also allows individuals to explore business opportunities, attend meetings, conferences, or seminars, and gain first-hand exposure to the Canadian market.

Transit: If you are traveling to another country via Canada, this visa also allows you to do so. During the transit, you may have the chance to sightsee or visit relatives if time permits.

Multiple entries: Depending on the type of Visitor Visa issued, you can make multiple trips to Canada within the validity period of your visa without needing to reapply each time.

Education short courses: Visitor Visa holders can take up short-term courses that last up to six months. These could be language classes or professional development courses.

How long can Indian citizens stay in Canada?

The Canada Visitor Visa is a Multiple Entry visa that allows you to enter Canada as many times as you want. It is valid for 10 years after issued and allows stays of up to 180 days Per Entry .

Your Canadian tourist visa can expire one month before your passport does, so make sure to visit Canada before your passport expires and that it will stay valid during your trip. Otherwise, you'll need to apply for a new visa.

Tips for a successful Canada Visitor Visa application in India

Applying for a Canada Visitor Visa or Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) as an Indian citizen can be a streamlined process. On top of having our guidance, we also advise you to consider these tips:

Understand the visa type: Ensure you apply for the correct visa type based on your purpose of visit, be it tourism, visiting family or friends, or business.

Pre-bookings: Showing pre-bookings of hotels and flights can demonstrate your genuine intent to travel to Canada and return to India. However, visa issuance is not guaranteed, so consider refundable bookings.

Express genuine enthusiasm: In your cover letter or potential interview, express your enthusiasm about visiting Canada. Real excitement about exploring the country can reinforce your actual intent as a visitor.

Evidence of past compliance: If you've previously visited Canada or other countries, provide evidence that you complied with their immigration laws, like exit stamps on your passport.

Display strong ties to home country: Evidence of strong ties to India, like a job, business, property, or family, can reassure officials that you'll return home after your visit.

Common reasons for Canada Visitor Visa refusals in India

While a variety of factors can influence the outcome of a Canada Visitor Visa application, here are some common reasons why applications from Indian citizens might be refused:

Lack of travel history: If you have never traveled abroad or have a limited travel history, the visa officer might consider this a negative factor as it doesn't demonstrate a history of compliance with other countries' immigration rules.

Unclear purpose of visit: If the purpose of your stay is unclear or seems inconsistent with the activities a visitor is expected to undertake, it could lead to a visa refusal.

Inadequate employment situation: If you're unemployed or your employment situation seems unstable, the visa officer might question your economic ties to your home country. This could lead to concerns about your intention to return.

Contradicting information: If the information provided during the visa interview contradicts the details in the application form, the visa could be refused.

Lack of host's capability: If a host in Canada is sponsoring your trip, there may be doubts about their financial capability or willingness to support your visit, leading to a refusal.

Negative public opinion: If it's believed that your presence in Canada could be detrimental to Canada's public opinion, this could be grounds for refusal.

Change in circumstances: If circumstances change significantly between the application and decision-making time, such as job loss or sudden illness, it might affect the outcome.

Remember, these are general tips, and the visa decision depends on individual circumstances and the discretion of the visa officer. For detailed and personalized advice, consult with our team of experts.

Canada Visitor Visa approval and denial for Indian citizens

If you apply for a Canada Visitor Visa as an Indian citizen, here's what to expect:

After you submit your application, it will be reviewed by a visa officer at the Canadian embassy or consulate. The processing time can vary depending on the specific embassy, consulate, or visa office, as well as the time of year, with some periods being busier than others.

If your application is approved , you will receive your visa, usually stamped in your passport. This visa will specify the duration of your stay in Canada.

If your visa application is denied , you will typically receive a letter from the Canadian embassy or consulate explaining the reasons for the denial. This can provide valuable information if you wish to apply again.

What to do if your application is denied?

Understand the reasons: Review the refusal letter carefully to understand why your application was denied.

Address the issues: Take steps to address the reasons for the refusal. For example, if your application was denied due to insufficient funds, you could work on improving your financial situation before reapplying.

Reapply: Once you've addressed the reasons for the refusal, you can reapply for the visa . Make sure to include any new supporting documentation that speaks to the issues raised in your refusal letter.

Consider professional help: Using our simplified process to reapply , you will have expert guidance at every step and improve your chances of a successful application.

Remember, it's essential to be honest and thorough in your application and to respect the visa officer's decision. Don't be discouraged if your initial application is denied. Many people are successful upon reapplication after addressing the reasons for the initial refusal.

What else do you need to enter Canada?

To enter Canada, you will need to fill out a customs declaration. We offer the Advance CBSA Declaration that enables you to complete the electronic customs declaration before departure, making your experience at the border much quicker.

The facility is currently available for all travelers arriving through the following international airports:

Toronto Pearson International Airport Terminal 1 & 3

Who can apply

On this page, eligibility, health insurance, other conditions we consider.

To be eligible for a super visa, you must have a host who

  • is your child or grandchild
  • the Canadian citizenship document of the host (and of their spouse or common-law partner, if applicable)
  • the permanent resident document of the host (and of their spouse or common-law partner, if applicable)
  • a Secure Certificate of Indian Status or Certificate of Indian Status (status card)
  • is at least 18 years old and lives in Canada
  • meets or exceeds the minimum necessary income
  • Your child or grandchild’s spouse or common-law partner can co-sign the letter if they are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
  • the list (including name and date of birth) and number of people included when you calculate your family size to determine the minimum necessary income

Your host can use the following table to find out if they meet the minimum income requirements.

You must also

  • be outside Canada when you submit your application for a super visa
  • have your visa printed by a visa office outside Canada (wait for visa office instructions)
  • be  allowed to enter Canada
  • take an  immigration medical exam
  • meet certain other conditions

You  can’t include dependants  in this application.

You must have proof of a health insurance policy from either

  • a Canadian insurance company, or
  • an insurance company outside Canada that is approved by the minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (more information will be available in the coming months)

The health insurance policy should

  • be valid for a minimum of 1 year from the date of entry
  • be paid in full or in instalments with a deposit (quotes aren’t accepted)
  • cover health care, hospitalization and repatriation
  • provide a minimum of $100,000 of emergency coverage

As a super visa holder, you should have a valid health insurance policy while in Canada. If your health insurance will expire before you leave Canada, you may need to renew or maintain your health insurance during your stay. Private health insurance must be valid for each entry to Canada.

Be prepared to show your proof of paid insurance to a border services officer when you enter Canada.

We consider several things before we decide if you can come to Canada. You must be a genuine visitor to Canada who will leave by choice at the end of your visit.

When you apply, we’ll consider

  • your ties to your home country
  • the purpose of your visit
  • your family and finances
  • the overall economic and political stability of your home country

Are you visa-exempt? You can still apply for a super visa.

If you  don’t need a visitor visa  to enter Canada, you can still get a super visa to stay in Canada for 5 years. If we approve your application, we’ll issue you a  letter to give to a border services officer  when you arrive in Canada.

If you travel by air , you may also need to  apply for an electronic travel authorization (eTA)  separately to allow you to travel to and enter Canada. The eTA will be electronically linked to your passport, so you need to travel with the passport you used to apply for your eTA and any supporting documents for your super visa application.

Sri lanka tourist visa for indian citizens.

Written by:

An island nation in the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka is officially known as the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Indian mythology assigns historical significance to the nation. Indian citizens who have long wished to discover the uniqueness of this small island south of India are kindly granted a Sri Lankan visa.

What is a visa for Sri Lanka?

A visa is issued in the name of a foreign national who agrees to visit Sri Lanka for a specific purpose. There are various explanations for why Indian applicants issue visas to Sri Lanka. The holder may engage in tourism, business, visiting friends and family, job, or even education, depending on the category. Depending on the type of visa and the number of entries allowed, the length of stay and validity will vary. Furthermore keep in mind that having a permit does not ensure you will be allowed admission into the nation. Should the immigration officer or border control discover a problem with your visa or with you, there’s a possibility that you won’t be permitted to cross the border and might even be ordered to go back.

How Can I Apply for a Sri Lankan Visa from India?

From India, there are several options for obtaining a Sri Lankan visa . You must first qualify as a candidate for the same, though. The requirements for qualifying will vary based on the kind of visa. Both the application and the Sri Lanka visa are mostly completed online. The following are the several procedures for obtaining an internet visa for Sri Lanka:

Sri Lanka Visa Online

  • The applicant submitted this application online.
  • Complete the application for ETA.
  • Fill out the form and pay the necessary amount.
  • Obtain an approval notification for the ETA.
  • Proceed to Sri Lanka after printing the notification.
  • Bring the necessary paperwork at the border immigration counter.

By means of a Visa Agency

  • Give the visa agency the necessary data and paperwork.
  • Allow the organisation to submit your application.
  • The acknowledgement notice will be sent to you and the agency.
  • Print this page, then head to Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lanka Mission Abroad

  • You can give the Sri Lankan Mission in India your passport and other pertinent documents.
  • Allow the mission to apply for an ETA on your behalf.
  • The mission and you will receive an acknowledgement notice following approval.
  • When you travel to Sri Lanka, print off this notice and bring it with you.
  • Get your passport from the mission after they’ve received the notice.
  • Deliver the necessary paperwork to the Immigration Counter upon arrival.

At the Department of Immigration and Emigration’s Headquarters

  • The host may submit this request in order to invite the Indian national to Sri Lanka.
  • The Department of Immigration and Emigration’s Head Office is where the application must be submitted.
  • The host must complete the ETA application form and give it to the visa officer.
  • Both the invitee and the host get an acknowledgement notice.
  • At the border’s immigration counter, produce the necessary paperwork.

Arrival visa for Sri Lanka

  • Once you’ve reached Sri Lanka, complete the ETA application.
  • Cover the ETA’s required cost.
  • You are going to receive a notice upon approval.
  • At that point, proceed to the immigration counter and show your passport, the notice, and any other necessary paperwork.

These are mostly online processes that must be completed in order to receive a temporary permission. You will typically obtain a multiple entry permit that is valid for three months and allows stays of up to thirty days per visit, or a single entry permit with a stay duration of thirty days and the same validity through any of these processes. On arrival, you will, however, receive a single entrance permit valid for a 30-day stay rather than a multiple entry permit if you have a Sri Lankan visa.

You must apply to the Sri Lanka Mission if you require a long-term visa for entry into Sri Lanka. The following is the procedure for the same:

Stamped Visa

  • The offline visa application form is available for completion.
  • Include a recent photo.
  • Gather every document on the list that has been provided.
  • Send in the application form with the necessary paperwork, properly signed.
  • Give the Mission the necessary payment.
  • After the passport has been fully stamped, you can pick it up.

When applying, there are some safety measures that you must follow. Make sure you are providing accurate information while completing any application form, whether it is an offline or ETA form. The details supplied must coincide with those found in the passport and other travel documents. There’s a danger the visa will be denied if any of the information turns out to be untrue. A visa may be denied for further reasons. By using expert visa services, these rejection odds might be reduced.

Indian nationals’ requirements for a Sri Lankan visa

Depending on the procedure, different documents will be needed from India in order to obtain a visa for Sri Lanka. Documentation requirements for the ETA visa are less stringent than those for the stamped visa. The following are the standard prerequisites for a Sri Lankan visa:

Regarding ETA

  • Validity of the original passport is at least six months.
  • confirmed ticket for the return trip.
  • Evidence of sufficient funds, such as a bank statement.
  • Passport valid for at least six months prior to travel is required for a Stamp Visa.
  • application form that is fully completed and properly signed.
  • Covering Letter.
  • Picture according to the picture requirements.
  • tickets for confirmed flights.
  • Evidence of visitation intent, such as an invitation letter, hotel reservations, or an exhibition pass.
  • Evidence of adequate finances: a bank statement for the last three months, etc.

There are various methods for making the application. You can get it offline or online. The procedure could appear convoluted, and completing the necessary formalities on your own might seem challenging. In these situations, the visa agencies may be able to provide expert visa advice. Your paperwork will be handled professionally as a result, and the process might even go more quickly than it would otherwise.
