Steve-O: The Bucket List Tour
King Center for the Performing Arts presents…
JACKASS star, stand-up comedian, and New York Times best-selling author, Steve-O, has added a new date to The Bucket List Tour .
Every idea on Steve-O’s bucket list was so ill-advised, he never expected to go through with any of them. Until it was time to prepare for this tour. Not only are the stunts more ridiculous than what you already know Steve-O for, he did them all, and made a multimedia comedy show out of them. Not for kids, or the faint of heart.

'Jackass' star Steve-O comes to Melbourne: 'I wanted to be a famous stunt man'
“jackass” star steve-o comes to the king center on sept. 14 with a multimedia comedy show featuring his outrageous stunts and the stories behind them..
An author, stuntman, professional clown, podcaster, stand-up comedian, social media sensation and entrepreneur: Is there anything Steve-O (a.k.a Stephen Glover) can’t do? Known to audiences for his life-threatening stunts on the "Jackass" franchise, Steve-O has been touring as a stand-up comedian for more than a decade. On Thursday, September 14th, Steve-O will bring his "Bucket List Tour" to the King Center in Melbourne.
I spoke with Steve-O about his tour, his start as a professional clown, and his plans for the future. Let’s “Shake, Rattle & Know”: Steve-O
Question: What can audiences expect to see at The Bucket List Tour stop in Melbourne?
Answer: They can expect to witness horrifying things never seen before on "Jackass" or anywhere else. It is a multi-media comedy show that pushes the boundaries farther than we ever could and seeing forbidden stunts that were just too much for the show.
Q: So, you won’t actually perform any stunts live at the show, right?
Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.
A: No, no stunts live. That would be way too difficult to do every night on a tour and probably too horrifying for an audience to watch.
Q: Back in your "Jackass" heyday, was there ever a stunt that had you say “nope, not going to do that one”?
A: Oh, for sure. In fact, there is a video on my YouTube channel called “ 10 Stunts I Backed Out Of ”. If it was a risk to the spinal cord, I said no.
Q: Doing stand-up is far different than performing stunts, and requires making a personal connection with your audience. How did you make the transition from stunts into the world of stand-up comedy?
A: It was a very slow transition. For the past eleven years I have been doing comedy clubs. It took this long to perfect it and develop the craft to the point I could be in theaters. It is stand-up comedy, but unlike other comedians that exaggerate their reality or make up experiences, my experiences are very literal. I don’t make anything up, everything I talk about really happened.
Q: How different is Stephen Glover from Steve-O?
A: Wow, that’s a fun question. There is a big difference between the onstage me and the offstage me. There has to be in order for me to keep my sanity. I have a podcast show (" Steve-O’s Wild Ride Podcast ") and that sometimes forces the lines to be blurred a little. The Steve-O everyone knows is crazy, deliberate, calculated and planned. In my everyday life I am not boring, but I am in stark contrast to the onstage me. I do meditation and yoga almost every day. I care for animals. I am very careful with what I eat, and I make sure to get enough sleep. That’s the everyday me.
Q: You have been very open and honest about your previous drug addictions and your challenges with sobriety. What advice would the modern-day you give to your younger self?
A: That is a tough one. I am pretty happy where I ended up, so I don’t know if I would change anything. I would tell a younger me to floss his teeth more. Your teeth can get pretty funky if you don’t take care of them and then you get that bad breath that never seems to go away. So, yes, floss your teeth more.
Q: How did you go from graduating from an actual clown college (Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College) to the Steve-O that so many know and love?
A: Long before clown college, I wanted to be a famous stunt man. I would film videos with my home camera of me doing various stunts. I was homeless for three years before I entered clown college, but I saw it as a way to legitimize my efforts in some ways. I saw preforming as a clown and doing stunts as a way to further my goal and it just worked out for me.
Q: Now that the Bucket List Tour is wrapping up, what’s next for you?
A: The Florida run is the final leg of this tour. When it wraps up, I am going to go into production of a follow-up to it and do some more life-threatening things. It should be ready sometime next year and then I will go out on another tour.

Steve-O (a.k.a. Stephen Glover) has become a household name and it all started when he snatched a video camera from his father’s closet when he was fifteen years old. From there he started producing homemade skateboarding videos featuring dangerous stunts mixed with comical behavior. He was born in London and by the age of twelve, had lived in five countries and communicated fluently in three different languages. He holds citizenship in three countries - the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. After finishing high school in London, and completing a year at the University of Miami, Steve-O realized that college wasn’t for him. He enrolled in Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Clown College to help further his goal of becoming a professional stuntman. After graduating Clown College, and determined to make it in Hollywood, he began to pitch his home videos to producers. Eventually, Steve-O’s videos made it into the hands of Jeff Tremaine (Jackass Creator/Director/Producer) who was working with Johnny Knoxville to create a stunt based reality show. The rest is history. MTV aired the first season of JACKASS in 2000. In 2001, Steve-O launched his own “Steve-O Don’t Try This At Home Tour”, establishing himself as an accomplished stage performer, at venues throughout the U.S. and in a dozen countries. When the JACKASS TV series ended in 2002, the team moved on to JACKASS: THE MOVIE, released by Paramount in October of that year. Shortly thereafter, Steve-O and fellow JACKASS alum, Chris Pontius, were given a spin-off show entitled WILDBOYZ, which aired on MTV and MTV2 and lasted four seasons. In 2006, Paramount released JACKASS: NUMBER 2 in theaters and Steve-O continued to thrill audiences with his outrageous stunts. In 2009 he competed on ABC’s hit show, DANCING WITH THE STARS, and lasted six weeks, despite an injury and having virtually no dancing ability whatsoever. In 2010, Paramount released JACKASS: 3D. Since then, Steve-O has become a New York Times Bestselling Author with the release of his memoir, ‘Professional Idiot,’ and has established himself as a force in the world of stand-up comedy. Thus far (and still counting), his career as a performer has brought him to a total of 38 countries, and his first hour-long comedy special, GUILTY AS CHARGED, recently premiered on Showtime and performed in the top one percent of all Showtime comedy specials. Most importantly, however, Steve-O has been clean and sober since March of 2008 and lives a healthy, vegan lifestyle in the Los Angeles area...but he still has no problem stapling his balls to his leg.
Vaccine Policy and Mask Mandate for the Vic Theatre
VACCINE POLICY
Per the City of Chicago’s public health order, in order to attend any indoor event at the Vic Theatre, all patrons 5 years of age or older are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (must be 2 weeks past final dose) and must show proof of vaccination at the time of entry. A negative COVID-19 test result is no longer valid for entry. Proof of vaccination can only include a CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, a clear photocopy or digital photo of the CDC card. Patrons 16 years of age or older will also need to provide a government issued photo ID that matches their vaccination record. The only exception to this policy involves fans who have previously received a medical or religious exemption, as long as those patrons provide proof of the medical or religious exemption and a COVID-19 test administered by a medical professional within the last 72 hours prior to entering the event. Taking these steps helps to ensure the safety of our guests, staff, and the artists, and implementing this simple measure minimizes risk and the spread of the virus. We encourage you to get vaccinated and boosted if you have not already!
MASK MANDATE
Following updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and based on Chicago’s current local COVID-19 data, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) is requiring that everyone age two or older wear masks in public indoor settings except when actively eating or drinking. A non-vented N95 mask or other well-fitted mask is strongly recommended to provide maximum protection. We will not allow a scarf, ski mask, balaclava, bandana, turtleneck, collar, single layer of fabric, or any mask that has an unfiltered one-way exhaust valve.
COVID-19 WARNING
An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any place where people gather. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. You assume all risks, hazards, and dangers arising from or relating in any way to the risk of contracting COVID-19 or any other communicable disease or illness, or a bacteria, virus or other pathogen capable of causing a communicable disease or illness, whether occurring before, during, or after the event, however caused or contracted, and voluntarily waive all claims and potential claims against Jam Productions, Ltd. and the Vic Theatre (including Vic Holdings, LLC, Freed Vic LLC, Albert Interests, LLC, Victoria Entertainment Properties, LLC and Vic Operating Company LLC) relating to such risks.
ILLINOIS RESIDENTS THAT RECEIVED THEIR VACCINATIONS IN ILLINOIS
You can access an official copy of your vaccination records through the Illinois Department of Public Health’s “vax validate” portal. This will take approximately 5 minutes and can be completed on a smartphone.

Steve-O (a.k.a. Stephen Glover) was willing to do whatever it took to become famous, even if it meant stapling his ball sack to his leg.
After failing miserably at the University of Miami, Steve-O was a homeless couch-surfer for three years before he attended Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, to help further his goal of becoming a famous stuntman. After graduating Clown College, determined to make it in Hollywood, he began to pitch his home videos to producers.
Eventually, Steve-O’s videos made it into the hands of Jeff Tremaine (Jackass Creator/Director/Producer), who was working with Johnny Knoxville to create a stunt-based reality show. The rest is history. MTV aired the first season of JACKASS in 2000.
Since then, Steve-O has had continued success, as a New York Times best-selling author with the release of his memoir, 'Professional Idiot', and he has established himself as a force in the world of stand-up comedy. He's even landed a handful of acting roles in film and TV. Thus far (and still counting), his career as a performer has brought him to a total of 38 countries, and his first hour-long comedy special, GUILTY AS CHARGED, performed exceptionally well on Showtime.
Now in his forties, and wanting to out-do all of his previous work, Steve-O decided to address the "unfinished business" on his bucket list. He's been filming the most elusive and outlandish stunts he ever dreamt up (including Cauliflower Ear, the General Anesthesia Olympics, Vasectomy Blue Balls, Sky-Jacking... to name a few), and is now screening the all-new, unreleased footage exclusively on his BUCKET LIST TOUR, which began in 2018. This new, live show is a multi-media comedy event which explores just how high the bar has gotten for Steve-O's stunts, and the stress they have caused for his loving fiancee, Lux Wright.
Across his social media platforms, Steve-O has amassed well over 20 million followers and counting, providing an intimate window into his colorful life, and sharing his love for animals (including the four dogs and two cats he and Lux have rescued). Steve-O and Lux have plans to start their own animal sanctuary.
Most importantly, however, Steve-O has been clean and sober since March of 2008 and, between the various legs of his Bucket List Tour, when he isn't terrorizing Lux with his unending pursuit of the ultimate stunt, they live a surprisingly healthy lifestyle in the Los Angeles area.

Interview: Steve-O Talks New Super Dummy Comedy Tour, Tom Cruise, & More
By Brandon Schreur
ComingSoon Senior Editor Brandon Schreur talked to Steve-O about his upcoming United States comedy tour, Steve-O: The Super Dummy! Tour .
Steve-O discussed what fans can expect out of his new tour, why he has a personal vendetta against Tom Cruise, what turning 50 means for the future of his career, and much more.
Steve-O: The Super Dummy! Tour kicks off in October. Click here to visit the official website for more information and to purchase tickets.
Brandon Schreur: Can you tell me a little bit about what people should expect from The Super Dummy Tour? What is it like to be doing this and what are you excited for fans to see?
Steve-O: What it is, it’s a multimedia live comedy event. To give a little bit of a background to it, I took on stand-up comedy as a new vocation over a decade ago. It was 2010 when I began relentlessly touring comedy clubs. At the time, it was just me, the microphone, and whatever happened on stage. I taped my first comedy special in that format in 2015. I went about putting together a new show in 2016, which just occurred to me as being comprised of stories that had largely happened on video camera.
I thought, ‘Man, this new show I’m doing, I’m telling stories that there’s footage for.’ Like, wow, what if I edit the footage in during post-production and make it multimedia stories that are illustrated with actual video footage? That was my second comedy special, which worked tremendously well. Then it left me with the desire to incorporate the multimedia component into the actual tour. Also, after that second comedy special, I had started to find it depressing that I was living in the past with all my stand-up material. Reprising old stories and experiences; I very much wanted to bring fresh, new material into the fold, as well as crazy new footage.
I set about recording stunts that were just way over the top. That was my Bucket List tour. That worked tremendously well. Now, Super Dummy Tour is kind of the next phase of the evolution of this format that I’ve stumbled upon.
I think what is particularly satisfying for me and what is most appealing about the show is the fact that I, along with many others, have had to abide by the community guidelines of YouTube and social media, to be extra careful not to show nudity or anything too crazy. It’s just kind of a lot and it’s frustrating, feeling stifled by these community guidelines. What I’ve done with my multimedia comedy has been really gratifying and satisfying to just deliberately film things that are wildly inappropriate and unsuitable for YouTube, streamers, or even Jackass movies, for that matter. To really push things to kind of new levels of edginess and craziness. That’s what it’s all about.
Now, with the Super Dummy show, it’s an exercise in trying to raise the bar yet again. And doing it when I had just turned 50 years old.
Sure. Two competing things.
I don’t know what presents more of an obstacle for me. My advanced age or the impossible height the bar currently rests at. Trying to raise the bar, at any age with where it’s at, would be tough. Doing it at 50, it makes it kind of all the more delicious for me to…try to surmount these obstacles. In a way, it’s a comedy of errors. I sought to out-crazy myself — crazier than ever before — and some of the ideas I came up with were admittedly not good ideas. My epic fails, I don’t shy away from the level at which I failed nor the shocking levels at which I succeeded. It’s all rolled into one and it’s a real battle against Father Time, is what I think of it.
I’ve been leaning into the precedent of certain artists who have been incredibly physical in their 50s. Namely, Tom Cruise and Tony Hawk. Tony Hawk is my buddy, so he’s safe. Tom Cruise, not so much. Even if it’s only in my own head, I have declared war with Tom Cruise.
That still counts.
My stunts, in this show, I think objectively make Tom Cruise look like a big, fat p—-.
I’m going to run with that quote, right there.
Yeah. That’s my goal, anyway. I think Tom Cruise doing his own stunts; if Tom Cruise was a Jackass, if Tom Cruise were to do Jackass stunts, I think that might end up looking like Steve-O’s Super Dummy Tour.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Steve-O (@steveo)
I guess you got to find out, someday. I’ve seen some of the stunts you’ve been promoting and teasing on Instagram for this new tour. I think it was just yesterday you had the one with the Cybertruck. That one looked like it hurt, I’m dying to see how that ends.
That one was definitely uncomfortable. It’s good fun, man. Everything I did for this tour has been, it’s been fun, man.
I’m sure. It looks like it’s tons of fun, it looks like it’s tons of fun. I can’t wait to see it. Just on the stand-up side of things, like you said, you had your previous stand-up specials, it sounds like it’s kind of been evolving along the way. How does it feel to get back up there now and do it again? Are there still nerves that come with it or is the fourth time the charm and you’re good to go?
The nerves are in starting from scratch. Starting from scratch and building an entirely new show, it’s a lot. I love the process, too. When you’re running the same material, it will always evolve. But the more you run the same material, the slower the evolution becomes. The tiniest little things will change. At the beginning of the process, everything is new. It’s challenging and it sure sucks when things don’t work, but it’s all kind of trial and error. When things do work, it’s super satisfying. I don’t know if I’d describe it as having nerves around it; it’s more challenging than it is scary.
That makes sense. You’ve been doing it for a while so I’m sure you know [how to go about it], I’m sure it’s going to be great.
I mean, it’s already to a point where I’m f—ing thrilled with it. Before this next run of shows, I’ve got more that I’m shooting for it, too.
Oh, gotcha. So you’re still doing the stunts and everything for it?
I’ve got to believe that I’m never going to stop. Like I said, it’s an evolution and I imagine that, for the next year, maybe even two years, there will be bits that get kicked out of the show and replaced by new bits. That’s how it happened with my last tour.
What does that process kind of look like? The way Jackass has always looked, the way all your stunts have always seemed, it always looks so natural like you just woke up this morning and were like, ‘Let’s do this today.’ I’m guessing it’s obviously a lot more complicated than that.
Whenever we set out to do a big one, it’s not the kind of thing that possibly can happen spontaneously. There are certain things that you’ve got to set up. I think the stunts that I do for my own tours — in a lot of ways, it resembles shooting for Jackass. Sometimes I even get together with the guys from Jackass and they’ll make cameos in my thing. My shoots are maybe a little less formal, on a little smaller scale. Sometimes, a lot more illegal. Maybe no insurance. But I love it. I don’t know if I have another physically dangerous and destructive project in me. I might be packing it all into this and maybe taking a step back from the really dangerous physical stunts.
I’m sure. Like you said, you just turned 50. Which, happy late birthday.
Then again, maybe, Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise, I looked it up the other day, he’s 62. Which means that he was doing stunts when he was 60. So maybe, you know. We’ll see what happens. Every project, I’ve always viewed it as my last project and given it hell to make it as crazy as I could.
It’s been over two decades now, right? Two decades of insane, life-threatening stunts. Is it surreal to kind of look back on all that and just be like, ‘I f—ing survived that?’
Oh yeah. For sure. I think, even the life-threatening aside, I think that the amount of experience I’ve been able to pack into this lifetime is genuinely remarkable. I was in a conversation with a couple of guys last week. Last week, I went skydiving 25 times in four days. That might be some kind of record in its own right. Especially given that I was riding like a wing-suit dude through the sky like some f—ing dragon in Game of Thrones. We really got into some pretty crazy stuff last week.
These skydiving people were talking about what a valuable commodity time is. And how you never get it back, it’s a travesty to waste it. As they were making those comments, I found myself thinking that I don’t have a lot of regrets about how I’ve utilized my time. Sure, I’ve made a lot of mistakes and there’s plenty to regret, but on the whole. I’ve really, really had a life that I’m tremendously grateful for. And 50 years old, goddamn, I’m in such great shape. It’s almost like my new addiction, health and wellness. I’m on a fitness bender.
That brings up a question I was going to ask you. Speaking of regrets, semi-related, it’s been a couple of months since the Post Malone tattoo. How are you feeling about that? Any regrets there?
After getting the penis tattooed on my forehead, there’s that moment where you wake up and kind of figure out what’s going on and maybe what happened the night before. Put it all together in a quick second. I remember waking up and realizing that it was real and having a bit of a moment of panic where I was like, ‘Oh my god, what have I done?’ That first day, I thought the rest of my life might be eerily similar to Bret Michaels. Always a bandana that never comes off. Gradually, over time, it proved to not be an issue on social media.
Oh, that’s good.
I didn’t even know if my face was going to be allowed on Instagram or YouTube.
It could have gone either way.
That was nice, nothing has been taken down from social media as a result. Honestly, if there’s something that really sticks out as notable, it’s that it’s not changed my life. You would think that having a f—ing penis tattooed on your forehead would dramatically change your daily experience. Quite shockingly, it has not.
Wow. I would have also guessed it would have changed some things.
Right? And I never really was too concerned about it because I knew I could get it lasered off, if I wanted to. And perhaps I will at some point. But the experiment has proved to lack the urgency to do anything about it. I have zero urgency to do anything.
Well, that’s awesome. It looks good!
Well, thanks, man. Thanks. There’s some fun stuff in the show around that. That was one of the things that I wanted to do for this tour.

STEVE-O: THE BUCKET LIST TOUR
Steve-O (a.k.a. Stephen Glover) was willing to do whatever it took to become famous, even if it meant stapling his ball sack to his leg.
After failing miserably at the University of Miami, Steve-O was a homeless couch-surfer for three years before he attended Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, to help further his goal of becoming a famous stuntman.
His relentless attention-whoring ultimately led to working with Johnny Knoxville on a stunt-based reality show. The rest is history. MTV aired the first season of JACKASS in 2000.
Since then, Steve-O has had continued success, as a New York Times best-selling author with the release of his memoir, ‘Professional Idiot’, and he has established himself as a force in the world of stand-up comedy. He’s thrilled to be releasing his new, profoundly multimedia, and wildly explicit comedy special, direct to his fans at steveo.com. It’s called “Gnarly”, for good reason.
Across his social media platforms, Steve-O has amassed well over 24 million followers and counting, providing an intimate window into his continued antics and colorful life with his fiancee, Lux. He’s also got a weekly podcast called Steve-O’s Wild Ride! with amazing guests which have included Demi Lovato, Shaquille O’Neal, Ronda Rousey, David Dobrik, Tony Hawk, and more.
Steve-O has never stopped being wild and crazy, but he’s definitely evolved. He’s been clean and sober for over twelve years now, and developed a genuine love for animals (including the four dogs, two cats, and three goats he and Lux have rescued). Steve-O and Lux have plans to start their own animal sanctuary.
