CHANNING TATUM’S MAGIC MIKE LAUNCHES SPECTACULAR NEW ARENA TOUR

Magic Mike the Arena Tour will be arriving in Aberdeen at P&J Live on Thursday 12th May 2022 . With more dancers, bigger numbers and more spectacle than ever before, this will be the first time a live performance of Magic Mike has ever been staged outside of an intimate, cabaret-style space.

The Arena Tour will open in Belfast on 6 May, followed by Glasgow, Aberdeen, Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle, Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester and finishing in Liverpool.

Louise Stewart, P&J Live’s head of Entertainment said: “We are thrilled to be bringing something different to P&J Live next year and we are sure that this will hit the mark with Magic Mike fans in the North East, it’s guaranteed to be a night out that won’t be forgotten!”

Following two hugely successful films starring Channing Tatum and the hit live show at the Theatre at the Hippodrome Casino in London, the show’s producers and creative team felt it was time to develop a new Magic Mike production to bring to people in other parts of the UK to celebrate the rebirth of live entertainment.

Magic Mike Live Co-Director Alison Faulk said, “This is not Magic Mike Live with more seats. Our arena tour is something totally different. After a year of isolation and frustration, we want to give women something that makes them feel alive again… a sort of celebratory revival that makes them want to stand on their chairs, dance with their friends and feel connected to each other. The show is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of togetherness, sexuality and freedom that only an arena can hold. We want our guys to give our fans the best night of their lives with a party they’ll never forget.”

Conceived by Channing Tatum and co-directed by Channing Tatum and Alison Faulk, Magic Mike Live which has already wowed over 200,000 people in London alone and almost 750,000 worldwide, is a large-scale, live production show based on the hit films Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL, which opened at The Theatre at the Hippodrome Casino in London’s Leicester Square in November 2018.

Magic Mike the Arena Tour is a new project that builds on the dance, spectacle and fun of the much-loved films and London show. It will be a complete evening of unparalleled entertainment for guests aged 18 and up. A group of extraordinary artists from around the world will perform a sultry dance and acrobatic spectacular on an incredible scale. Sexy dance routines intertwined with one-of-a-kind acts, will be presented by a diverse cast of performers from around the world.

The Arena Tour will feature an elaborate series of stages and runways spanning the length of the arena floor, punctuated by massive screens, incredible visual effects, a live DJ, and of course some of the hottest, most talented male dancers in the world. It’s a celebration of fun and freedom that will blow the roof off the arena.

Magic Mike The Arena Tour will be directed by Magic Mike Live co-director Alison Faulk, with choreography by Alison Faulk and co-direction and choreography by Teresa Espinosa and Luke Broadlick. The scenic design is by Rob Bissinger and Anita LaScala (Arda Studio), with costume design by Marina Toybina, lighting design by Philip Gladwell and video design by Luke Halls. The musical supervisor and composer is Jack Rayner, with sound design by Nick Kourtides. Dreya Weber is the aerial choreographer & aerial apparatus designer. Vincent Marini is Executive Producing.

Magic Mike Live has become an international sensation since opening in Las Vegas in April 2017. In addition to breaking box office records and performing to sold-out audiences in Las Vegas and London, the show premiered in Berlin in 2020 and the Australia national tour opened in Sydney in December 2020.

Magic Mike the Arena Tour is produced by Channing Tatum, Steven Soderbergh, Reid Carolin, Greg Jacobs, Peter Kiernan and Nick Wechsler in association with Vincent Marini and presented by David Ian Productions and Phil McIntyre Entertainments.

At P&J live it is our aim to be completely cashless, all of our bars, kiosks and restaurants accept card payments, this is more efficient, safe and ensures a speedy transaction. There are therefore no cash machines on the TECA site.

There are various ways to pay for your parking at P&J Live

On site payment machines : We accept both cash and card payments on site, pay on exit is required by entering your vehicle registration at any one of our machines located in the car parks. Please note payment machines only take coins and not notes.

APCOA Connect App : Up to 24 hour after you have left the venue, you can pay for your parking on the APCOA Connect App. Once you have downloaded the app, use location code 6680 for the Sub-T Car Park (underground) and location code 2356 for the Surface Car Park.

You can also pay for parking via the APCOA website here , click which car park you parked in and then you will be able to pay for parking.

At P&J Live it is our aim to be completely cashless, all of our bars, kiosks and restaurants accept card and contactless payments. This is more efficient, safe and ensures a speedy transaction.

There are no cash machines on the TECA sites.

Regular buses will be coming in and out of the complex daily for public use. Details on bus routes and operators are still in discussion and any updates will be posted on the getting here page of the website.

Currently, the Stagecoach Bluebird Jet Service 727 runs regularly from Aberdeen City Centre to Aberdeen Airport, stopping in the TECA site.

South African-born dancer Kalon Badenhorst will reprise his leading role as "Mike," and comedians Crystal Powell and Nikki Lowe will share hosting duties as the show's hilarious and empowering emcees when the production hits the Magic City in a custom-built venue at the Miami Marine Stadium site on Key Biscayne on Oct. 13, 2022. The production will hold one week of preview performances before celebrating the official premiere of MAGIC MIKE LIVE: The Tour on Thursday, Oct. 20. Lakers, JJ Redick agree to 4-year deal to become next head coach: Sources

The Los Angeles Lakers and JJ Redick have agreed to a four-year deal to make the 39-year-old former NBA player the team’s new head coach, team sources said Thursday.

The contract is in the neighborhood of $8 million per season, according to sources briefed on the deal.

The Lakers zeroed in on Redick over the past four weeks, with team leadership and Redick meeting on Saturday to discuss the position. During meetings with Lakers vice president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka, and his visit with Lakers ownership, Redick showed promise, team sources said.

He was considered the front-runner in league circles for most of the coaching search, which was ongoing since Los Angeles fired Darvin Ham in May after two seasons.

Redick’s status as the front-runner for the job briefly changed when Connecticut coach Dan Hurley and the Lakers expressed mutual interest before Hurley interviewed in Los Angeles. He rejected the Lakers’ six-year, $70 million offer last week, according to team and league sources.

The Lakers’ brass then regrouped and circled back to candidates, including Redick, according to team and league sources. The ESPN commentator and podcaster previously met with Pelinka for nearly two hours the week of May 13 at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.

Redick worked on the broadcast for the NBA Finals, which ended Monday when the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 .

New Orleans Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego was the other central candidate over the past few weeks. Borrego met with Pelinka in Los Angeles on May 20 for over two hours. He also met with Lakers stakeholders at the team’s practice facility on May 29. Anthony Davis and Borrego, who overlapped briefly in New Orleans, re-established their rapport recently. Yahoo previously reported that Borrego was also advancing in the head-coaching search with the Cleveland Cavaliers .

The Lakers were high on Redick’s potential and viewed the 15-year NBA veteran as a Pat Riley-like coaching prospect, according to league sources. Redick checked many of the boxes for the Lakers as they searched for their next coach.

Redick has yet to coach above the youth level. He’s the most forward-facing of the candidates given his high-profile playing career, run as a media personality and his recent “Mind the Game” podcast with LeBron James . Nevertheless, James made it known he was staying out of the team’s coaching search, according to people involved in the matter.

The coaching hire is pivotal as Los Angeles hopes to retain James, who must decide whether to exercise his $51.4 million player option for the 2024-25 season by June 29. The Lakers are open to any contract structure that will keep James in Los Angeles, league sources said.

Redick spent 15 seasons in the NBA with six teams, most notably the Orlando Magic and LA Clippers . A renowned shooter, he posted a career average of 12.8 points per game with 41.5 percent 3-point shooting, 44.7 percent from the field and 89.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Where does Redick’s departure leave ESPN?

The good news for ESPN regarding Redick’s departure to the Lakers is that Mike Breen remains in the lead play-by-play chair. You are always working from strength when your top broadcast team has the best game-caller of his or her generation. But ESPN does not have any automatic moves right now when it comes to Redick’s replacement.

The network nuked its longtime crew of Breen, Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson and then Doc Rivers left for the Milwaukee Bucks in about the time it takes Noah Lyles to run the 100. It could have a third new combo in a little more than a year to start next season if it adds to Breen and Doris Burke. Health-willing, hopefully Breen, 63, continues into his 70s. But the analyst position is key. Any hire likely has to be either a youngish (in media years) high-profile former player or coach. One thing to keep an eye on — and this is just us spitballing — is how Dwayne Wade does as an Olympic basketball analyst for NBC in Paris. That’s someone who has the star power ESPN would theoretically be looking for as an NBA analyst. — Richard Deitsch, sports media writer
