Set sail on a new career with Carnival and help us bring the FUN to life aboard one of our fantastic vessels! We’re looking for dedicated individuals to join our Deck team. The 3rd Deck Officer role will be a vital piece of our navigation teams on-board.   

As part of the watch team, you will prioritize the safety of the voyage so our guests can have a great vacation experience in their home away from home! You’ll be working all around our vessel and on the ship's bridge to maintain the highest levels of safety. As with all of our team members, you’ll be a highly visible member of the team and will constantly interact with our guests and help them with questions. The vacation experience we promise our guests will start with you!   

Job functions:

• Assisting Bridge Watch Keeper as required by the BRMM Procedures, showing a good understanding of Bridge Resource Management procedure and use of bridge equipment.  
• Responsible to the OOW for the monitoring of the voyage plan according to the VPP Procedure
• Ensure that the company's Safety and Environmental policies are duly applied
• Assisting the Safety officer during inspection and maintenance on Life Savings ( lifeboats/ Life rafts/ Davids and cranes) and Fire Fighting Equipment/ Systems
• Familiarize wit the use of ECDIS and Ensure all nautical Charts and Publications are corrected and updated as required under the supervision of the OOW
• Familiarization with the Ship's stability calculation under the supervise of the OOW, including freshwater & Ballast management control plan
• Ensuring he/she is familiar with the use of the ships' stability calculation computer program ( onboard NAPA)
• Assist for tanks inspections, Maintenace & Record keeping ( FW-BW-GW) as directed by the OOW
• Assist with the upkeep of the ship's certificates as directed by the OOW
• Assist the Safety Officer in the conduct of the crew Safety Drills when needed
• Assist the OOW and Safety Officer in updating the OPMS Safety when needed
• Check and monitoring of the SMS for the Deck Department as directed by the Staff Captain
• As part of your safety responsibility, your Position /Rank has been identified as an "Assessor "' within the training, Drill, and Assessment program

Minimum Requirements

• To apply for this role, you must hold an IMO Certificate, Regulation   IMO II/2 (CH.MATE)
• Valid STCW certificates, as required for the position

Preferred Experience

• Experience working within a cruise ship environment is a plus
• 3rd Deck Officer experience or higher is a plus

Undergo assigned trainings to develop skills & knowledge for the future positions.

Report any equipment malfunction, difficulties & concerns to the supervisor on duty.

Follow additional duties, other than listed in the job description, assigned by management due to the operational needs/shortages/changes.

Ensure beverage stations are full at all times and cleaned daily.

Engage in light conversations with guests always greet them with a smile.

You should have at least 2-4 years of experience in a similar role.

Advanced level proficiency in English is required.

Minimum guest interaction might be required.

You must pass a Seafarers Medical Fitness Examination.

You focus on continuous improvement and collaboration.

In-Kind Donations

To apply for an in-kind donation from Carnival Foundation, submit an online application complete with the following information:

• A letter of request with a brief description of the organization including its legal name, history, activities, purpose and governing board
• Contact name and information, including phone number and address for the individual who is organizing the event
• Name and date of the event
• Average amount of funds raised from the auction in previous years and estimated number and demographics of the event audience
• Description of how funds raised from the donation will be used within the organization
• List of other cruise suppliers, if any, participating in the event
• An outline with details of Carnival’s publicity/promotional opportunities associated with the event
• Copy of Internal Revenue Service determination letter indicating 501© (3) tax-exempt status as an organization that is not a private foundation.
• Copy of organization’s most recent 990 filed with the Internal Revenue Service
• Geographical area(s) served

Requests for sponsorships and/or in-kind donations must be received four to six months prior to the event.

Review Process

Funding proposals are received and reviewed on a continuous basis throughout the year. Requests are screened for thoroughness and compliance with Carnival Foundation’s requirements. If applicable, a meeting with a representative from the organization and/or a site visit may be conducted.

Qualified applicants should allow up to two months before receiving a written response. Due to the overwhelming number of applications we receive, submissions that do not meet our guidelines will no longer receive a response.

Kentucky family says their cruise plans were upended by identity theft

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Bourbon County woman says her family spent about $15,000 on a trip with Carnival Cruise Line only to find out a day before sailing their room was canceled and no refund given. They believe it was identity theft.

Tiffany posted her complaints on TikTok, and her story has gone viral with more than 900,00 views.

This Bourbon County woman says she spent hours on the phone with the cruise line to clear things up.

Through the company’s investigation, they told Banks that through a social media post showing their booking number someone was able to add their booking to a fake profile and cancel it.

They had planned this $15,000 trip for a year. They were told there would not be a refund.

When her husband Jamethen and their three children found out they were not cruising, sadness set in.

“My husband was furious; the kids were crying. It was just not good,” Banks said.

She says the company offered her two interior cabins instead of her luxurious cabin. With no price difference, she said no thanks.

“Just get sick to my stomach just thinking about being on that boat, being in an interior room with no window, knowing that somebody was in the room that I actually paid for,” Banks said.

Lori Weaver Hawkins, with AAA Bluegrass, says vacation identity theft is not a new thing, but it ramps up during travel season.

“Make sure that you always keep information confidential, and you don’t make it easy for those criminals to actually get your information,” said Weaver Hawkins.

Weaver Hawkins says AAA has a service called ProtectMyID. She says booking with a travel agent also adds a level of security.

“They can help you through any kind of hiccup along the way,” Weaver Hawkins said.

Banks tells us next time, she will use a travel agent.

“I don’t want this to happen to other people like it was truly a nightmare,” Banks said.

Carnival Cruise Line sent us this statement:

While we are not going to comment on any specific guest complaint or incident, it is never a good idea to post personal information about your travel plans, including a confirmation number for a booking, which could allow a bad actor or identify thief to use that information in inappropriate or even illegal ways.

Banks filed a dispute with her bank over her charges as well as the Better Business Bureau and the Florida Attorney General’s Office.

Posen carnival shut down early after 'large fight' leads to multiple arrests, police say

POSEN, Ill. (WLS) -- A carnival was shut down early in the south suburbs Sunday evening after a "large fight" broke out.

Posen Park Fest 2024 was closed due to safety concerns from the altercation, police said.

Police made multiple arrests in connection to the fight, officials said.

Posen's mayor told ABC7 that "civil unrest" broke out around 6 p.m. and the unrest continued for almost two hours.

The carnival was originally supposed to be open until 10 p.m.

"We regret to inform you that due to a large fight at the carnival this evening, we have made the difficult decision to shut it down for the safety of all attendees," Posen police said in a statement to residents.

Residents were asked to avoid the area near the carnival grounds at 147th and Sacramento.

Cell phone video captured large crowds with some people running into the street.

Officer continued to work to clear the area and "disperse the crowd and restore order" after the carnival was shut down.

No further information about the large fight or if there were any injuries was immediately available.
