Star Tours – The Adventures Continue (also unofficially known as Star Tours 3-D, Star Tours 2, or Star Wars: Episode III.V ) is a 3D motion simulator attraction located at Disney's Hollywood Studios , Disneyland , Tokyo Disneyland , and Disneyland Park (Paris) . Set in the fictional Star Wars universe Star Tours – The Adventures Continue takes guests on a turbulent excursion trip across the galaxy, as droids C-3PO and R2-D2 attempt to safely return a rebel spy to the Rebel Alliance .
The Adventures Continue features locations and characters from throughout the Skywalker Saga, unlike its predecessor , which took place shortly after the original trilogy. The attraction opened on May 20, 2011 at Disney's Hollywood Studios, on June 3, 2011 at Disneyland, and on May 7, 2013 at Tokyo Disneyland. [2] [3] The ride opened at Disneyland Park (Paris) on March 26, 2017, as part of its 25th-anniversary celebration. [4]
With the release of the sequel trilogy , scenes from The Force Awakens , The Last Jedi , and The Rise of Skywalker have been added in 2015 , 2017 , and 2019 .

Opening Crawl [ ]
In tradition with most Star Wars productions, the attraction was presented with an opening crawl during the inaugural ceremony at Disney's Hollywood Studios on May 20th, 2011. It reads as follows:
Episode III.V
It has been a long time since the end of the Clone Wars , and the evil Sith Lord Darth Vader continues to tighten his grip on the Empire as the galaxy moves closer to the brink of a great civil war.
A new intergalactic spaceline, Star Tours, seeks to preserve unrestricted intergalactic travel in this age of tyranny. Freedom fighter Captain Raymus Antilles has assigned two droids, C-3PO and R2-D2, to help launch the spaceline, fueling Imperial suspicion that Star Tours is part of the Rebel Alliance .
Star Tours is about to open its first intergalactic space terminal in the Earth System as rumors of a fearsome weapon of mass destruction dash all hope for peace and freedom in the galaxy ...
Development [ ]
Star Tours was always intended to receive occasional updates, though various factors would serve to delay the project. The first proper development on a Star Tours II began in 1997 when George Lucas invited Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald to Skywalker Ranch and showed him the Pod Race sequence of the in-development Episode I: The Phantom Menace , suggesting it would be the perfect material for an updated Star Tours attraction.
Imagineers developed an attraction concept with a pod race as its centerpiece but held off on it to wait and see what the other prequels could offer. With a branching storyline in mind, Fitzgerald went to Fox Studios Australia in 2003 during the filming of Revenge of the Sith to pitch the multi-branching storyline to George, quickly getting his approval to move forward. Work proper finally began in 2007 with Fitzgerald and other Imagineers regularly visiting Skywalker Ranch to show them their progress.
A StarSpeeder 1000 accidentally flying into the Boonta Eve Classic podrace on Tatooine .
At the inaugural D23 Expo in Anaheim , California , on September 12 , 2009 , Jay Rasulo and Darth Vader (voiced in this instance by Fred Tatasciore ) [5] [6] announced that Disneyland's Star Tours attraction would be closing in October 2010 to make way for an updated version featuring new worlds from the first two triologies, which opened in 2011 . Tatooine was the first of the new destinations revealed, showing a sample of the Pod Racing sequence. Even in this early draft, RX-24 (Rex) was still supposed to be part of the experience instead of C-3PO.
Attraction [ ]
Since the attraction takes place in an earlier timeframe than its predecessor, this Star Tours travel agency utilizes AC-series pilot droids and, therefore, RX-series pilot droid Captain Rex is not the ship's pilot (instead of appearing in the queue as a defective prototype droid). Additionally, Endor is not currently a destination. Through a series of mistakes, though, the AC-series pilot droid does not appear as the ship's pilot either, as the aerophobic C-3PO is forced to pilot the Starspeeder 1000 himself.
Characters that make appearances in the attraction include C-3PO , R2-D2 , Darth Vader , Stormtroopers , Boba Fett , Yoda , Leia Organa , Admiral Ackbar , Chewbacca , Han Solo , [Sebulba], Jar Jar Binks , Mon Mothma , and new characters, such as AC-38 , Aly San San , and Imperial sky troopers.
The exteriors of the Star Tours attractions are different in their respective parks. The attraction in Florida is inspired by an Ewok village on the forest moon of Endor whereas the California, Paris and Tokyo versions are modeled after a Tomorrowland -esque spaceport.
Backstory [ ]
According to the opening crawl that preceded the attraction's inaugural opening, after the Dark Times began, Captain Antilles had dispatched C-3PO and R2-D2, who was placed in the custody of Antilles by order of Bail Organa near the end of Revenge of the Sith , to assist in the inauguration of the spaceline. The seemingly close relationship between the Rebel Alliance and the Star Tours agency caused the Galactic Empire to believe that both entities were in a partnership and has since monitored the agency's actions over the years.
Similar to the functionality of the previous attraction, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue places guests in the role of space tourists en route to a predetermined destination. The queue is designed to resemble a spaceport terminal: posters advertise trips to different planets and a large LCD screen informs riders of the benefits of booking flights with Star Tours. The screen displays information in spoken basic language and Aurebesh . The queue is populated with Audio-Animatronic characters, including C-3PO, R2-D2, and two Mon Calamari officers, that interact with one another and to the guests.
Entering the cargo bay, RX-24 from the original attraction can be found, who, following the timeline, has not been used yet and is, therefore, being sent back to a factory as defective. He occasionally has power surges and delivers lines from the original attraction. Two G2 droids interact with guests as they conduct their tasks. The more outspoken droid processing the passengers' luggage on a scanning system reveals the luggage's contents to the guests waiting in the queue. Many references, gags, and in-jokes are made via the contents of the luggage. Guests then retrieve their 3-D "flight glasses" and are directed by a Star Tours crew member to one of three concourses where they wait to board.
Pre-show [ ]
Television monitors show C-3PO, who has been assigned to maintenance on the StarSpeeder that the guests are about to board, inadvertently getting trapped in the cockpit. Following this, Aly San San presents an instructional video (reminiscent of the original) to the guests on how to fasten their seat belts and where to place their belongings followed by the Disney Parks daily safety spiel in English and Spanish. Once the doors to the Starspeeder 1000 open, guests enter the ride simulator. After the doors close, C-3PO complains to R2-D2 about the misunderstanding but is ignored when the StarSpeeder begins to take flight.
The attraction currently features 66 different ride experiences, including several different planets from the Star Wars universe such as Coruscant and Tatooine . With The Adventures Continue serving as a prequel to the original Star Tours rather than a sequel, guests board StarSpeeder 1000 spacecraft simulators, forerunners to the StarSpeeder 3000 simulators found in the original attraction. The ride experience has a branching narrative with the system having control over its random sequencing, rather than the participants. This gives Star Tours the advantage of being both highly repeatable and constantly surprising.
Even though guests can experience 66 different journeys, the main priority (delivering the Rebel Spy to safety) is accomplished no matter what the sequence is. The Rebel spy's identity is chosen by the cast member operating the ride vehicle from among the guests on the attraction and their picture is presented during the ride. When referring to the spy, characters will alter their dialogue depending on the gender of the person chosen as the spy (him, her or them). Sometimes, no guest is chosen as the Rebel spy and a generic photo is used.
There are twenty-two (originally eleven) random segments of the film (five introductions, five "detours", seven hologram transmissions and five finales).
The Starspeeder 1000 takes off, although C-3PO protests that he is not the captain. As the ship is about to leave the Star Tours terminal, one of two scenes will occur:
- Starting from 'Season Of The Force', in some of the rides, one of the four skytroopers is occasionally replaced by Boba Fett .
- As part of the 2017 The Last Jedi update, a Kylo Ren version of the intro was added.
- As part of the 2017 The Last Jedi update, a variation featuring the First Order 's stormtroopers was introduced, along with a modernized version of the Falcon with the rectangular sensor dish.
After jumping into lightspeed , one of five scenarios occurs:
- The Starspeeder almost crashes on Hoth amid a battle between Rebels and Imperial AT-ATs . After entering the combat zone against orders, an AT-AT fires at the StarSpeeder and the ship crashes into the snow, teetering on the edge of a cliff. The ship falls over the side and rides the canyon like a luge, launching off another cliff and free-falling into a deep canyon. Seemingly at the last second, R2-D2 re-engages the engines and the StarSpeeder rockets back into space.
- The StarSpeeder reaches Tatooine , where it ends up taking part in the Boonta Eve Podrace, along with Sebulba. The StarSpeeder collides with a podracer and the two become stuck together. The race concludes with the podracer-enhanced StarSpeeder overtaking Sebulba, then jettisoning the podracer and flying back into space, almost hitting the crowd of spectators.
- The StarSpeeder lands on Kashyyyk as Imperial jet speeders pursue Chewbacca and another Wookiee on a speeder bike through the lush forest. At one point, Chewbacca falls off from the back of the speeder bike and hits the StarSpeeder's windshield before sliding off, temporarily leaving paw prints behind.
- The Starspeeder finds itself on Jakku, where it encounters the Millennium Falcon being chased by First Order TIE fighters. Finn appears on the screen at the Falcon 's turrets, questioning what the ship is doing there, but advises they stay low to confuse the TIE's trackers and to use their shield. The ship then crashes into the wreckage of a Star Destroyer, where Scavengers can rip some of the platings from the ship before heading back to space. As part of the 2017 The Last Jedi update, this sequence is now exclusively assigned to other Sequel Trilogy content to create a more cohesive experience.
- In another Sequel Era option, the StarSpeeder travels to the Endor system, flying past the forest moon of Endor (with C-3PO exclaiming “We just passed the Endor moon!”, a quote from the original attraction) and landing on the ocean moon of Kef Bir. Floating on the ocean waves through the wreckage of the second Death Star and other Battle of Endor debris, the StarSpeeder encounters a school of dianoga that attacks the ship. After escaping the squids and fixing the engines, the ship heads back into space.
Upon returning to space, a hologram transmission from either Admiral Ackbar , Leia Organa , Yoda , BB-8 , Poe Dameron , Maz Kanata , Lando Calrissian , Ahsoka Tano , Cassian Andor , or The Mandalorian and Grogu confirms that there is a Rebel Spy on board and sends coordinates to R2-D2 on where to deliver the spy.
Despite C-3PO's protests, R2-D2 takes the speeder to one of five other scenarios:
- The StarSpeeder arrives in the upper atmosphere of a besieged Coruscant , where the last forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems battle the Army of the Republic's Clone Troopers . Buzz droids are projected at the StarSpeeder, which attach themselves to the windshield, but R2 uses an electric shock to blast them off after the buzz droids have caused severe damage to the stabilizers. The StarSpeeder then plummets through the planet's atmosphere and into the bustling sky traffic of the city-planet. After several near misses, the StarSpeeder careens to a halt on a landing platform, nearly hitting a fuel tanker (a model seen in the original Star Tours) before crashing into a traffic control droid.
- In Season Of The Force, a secondary version of Naboo is shown. In the second version, Jar-Jar does hit against the windshield, and rather than the tail shattering the windshield in the hangar, it gently bounces on the screen and breaks off, with an angry Pit Droid throwing a bucket of yellow paint onto the windshield.
- The StarSpeeder discovers the still unfinished Death Star orbiting Geonosis . Ambushed in the asteroid field by Boba Fett aboard the Slave I , the StarSpeeder dodges laser fires and exploding asteroids before venturing into the Death Star. Escaping Darth Vader through a hangar bay, the StarSpeeder is confronted again by the bounty hunter. Fett launches a sonic bomb, which is reflected by a laser blast from the StarSpeeder. The explosion cripples the bounty hunter’s ship, allowing the StarSpeeder to jump to lightspeed. It reaches the Rebel fleet and lands aboard a Mon Calamari cruiser, where Mon Mothma and the other Rebel Alliance leaders await to offer congratulations.
- The StarSpeeder arrives on Crait in the middle of the battle between the First Order and the Resistance. After escaping TIE fighters by going through a cave, the StarSpeeder re-emerges during a battle with a group of First Order AT-M6 and AT-AT walkers. General Hux appears on the side screen and orders the First Order to execute them. After taking down a few AT-M6s, Poe Dameron says thanks for the help, and the ship escapes to Batuu , where 3PO muses that their adventure is just beginning .
- The StarSpeeder arrives around Exegol to assist the Resistance in their fight against the Sith Eternal 's fleet, the Final Order. 3PO is terrified that we might not survive the chaotic battle and after managing to remove a destroyed Sith TIE fighter from the viewport, the StarSpeeder helps take out some of the Sith Star Destroyers before returning to the Spaceport, avoiding outgoing ships, and encountering an angry AC-38 as the attraction ends.
- The StarSpeeder 1000 arrives on Seatos in the middle of a lightning storm. Ascending from the clouds, it is revealed that the ship is surrounded by puurgil . A moment later, Ahsoka Tano appears, pursued by combatants. R2 engages, much to the distress of C-3PO. After defeating the enemy, R2 does a barrel roll, and enters hyperspace once more, returning to the Star Tours terminal to make a haphazard landing.
C-3PO thanks the guests for choosing Star Tours as their space-line of choice and are then given disembarking instructions by Aly San San .
Post-ride [ ]
After exiting the ride vehicle, the guests are shuffled through the space terminal and into the attraction's gift shop. The Florida version is called Tatooine Traders and is inspired by a desert outpost in Mos Espa. California's version is called Star Trader and is, much like the attraction itself, designed with Tomorrowland in mind.

NEW Star Tours Merchandise Celebrates the Adventures Continuing!
by Madeleine Lily · April 5, 2024
Today’s the day that fans have been counting down towards…a series of brand NEW scenes have finally debuted in Star Tours!
As they say, the Adventures really have Continued!
Photo: Disney
You can bet our MickeyBloggers were one of the first in line to ride the attraction in Disney’s Hollywood Studios this morning, and you can check out our full coverage of the new ride additions in our post here .
However, right now what we’re doing is taking a moment to celebrate the occasion in a different way…via all this new commemorative merchandise that has landed in the park!
Because, as we all know, it’s the merch that really makes an occasion at Disney!
There are quite a number of new items to be found by the ride today, so let’s go and check it out together!
Star Tours Hat
We’ll start off the collection by admiring this cool new cap. It’s black in color, yet features that iconic “Star Tours: The Adventures Continue” logo embroidered on the front in a bold, contrasting blue.
Down the side of the hat, we can see “StarSpeeder 1000” embroidered too — giving reference to the ship guests ride when they fly with Star Tours. How cool?
This costs $29.99.
Will you be wearing it for your next intergalactic flight?
Star Tours T-Shirt
Obviously, there’s going to be a couple of new shirts in the collection too! We’ll start with this one, which is a classic, cream-colored crew neck, in a cropped style.
On the front, the Star Tours emblem has been embroidered over the chest in a cool, eye-catching orange shade.
However, once you flip the shirt over, you’ll see even more of a whacky design on the back!
Here we’ve got C-3PO and R2-D2 stood by the Star Tours logo, with the Walt Disney World logo also printed beneath. A StarSpeeder soars in the distance and stars glitter all across the top!
You’ll notice that none of the new Star Tours merchandise items released today incorporate any of the new characters seen in the attraction’s update, such as from Ahsoka , The Mandalorian, and more.
Instead, the collection is reflective of the “classic” Star Tours experience, full of nostalgia and spirit!
Star Tours Gray Graphic T-Shirt
The next tee we found is this slate gray in color, and features a bold graphic emblazoned across the front.
In the graphic, we can see all kinds of Star Wars ships, including the Death Star, some TIE Fighters, and, of course, a StarSpeeder 1000.
Both these t-shirts cost $39.99.
Which one is your favorite?
Star Tours Flight Suit Sweater
The next item might be the coolest in the collection!
It’s a hoodie, designed to look just like a Star Tours flight suit!
Eye-catching in blue, orange, and black, this fun jacket features the “Star Tours: The Adventures Continue” logo and the Walt Disney World emblem printed across the back.
It costs $69.99.
Star Tours StarSpeeder 1000 Model
The last new item we have to show you today isn’t apparel, but instead this cute, die-cast model.
Despite the packaging labeling it a “car,” this red ship is instantly recognizable as a StarSpeeder 1000, and would make a great keepsake addition to any Star Wars -inspired model collection!
It cost $9.99.
We found all of these items inside Tatooine Traders at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – the store adjoining the Star Tours attraction.
Be sure to check out the wares after your next flight on the ride, and enjoy those cool new sequences!

Hi everyone!

Here is our video first, followed by photos.
Most of the merchandise was available at Star Tours today, but not all.
The merchandise includes shirts, a hat and StarSpeeders.

Here is the back of the hoodie, which says “Star Tours – The Adventures Continue” and “Walt Disney World”.

There is a small area in Tattoine Traders with the new merchandise.
What do you think of the new Star Tours merchandise? Of course, there is plenty more Star Wars merchandise in Tatooine Traders.
The new additions in Star Tours include The Mandalorian and Grogu, Ahsoka and more! I especially enjoyed Grogu. Stop by Star Tours next time you are in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and check out the changes for yourself.

For thirty-two years, Star Tours was the only game in town for Star Wars-themed rides. And now that it turns thirty-three on January 9th, we thought it would be fun to revisit the posters that has supported this film-based attraction over the years. Some have been available for purchase and some have not. Let’s light speed through memory lane shall we?
Kicking things off is a promotional poster from 1987 seen by employees of Walt Disney Imagineering, days before the attraction would open to the public. Isn’t it cute how the Star Speeder is just a small shape right there?
There have been many posters and paintings over the years that feature Star Tours in varying degrees, we’re posting this one because it was the first. Painted by artist Charles Boyer, it was created through a partnership with PSA Airlines. 1,000 of these were made so there’s a decent chance you have one if you were around.
For many, one of the oldest posters to take home was this one featuring everyone’s favorite droids. At the time, it really WAS the ultimate adventure!
Still the best Star Tours attraction poster ever created was the one that greeted you right at the front of the queue. They sold this briefly at the Print On Demand kiosks, but only the Disneyland Paris version was sold. Here’s a look at the Tokyo Disneyland version.
Another poster that has made the rounds is this one, showing the Star Speeder dodging explosions… seemingly caused by the fireworks display over Disneyland (haha). Did you know this poster was also used to celebrate the one year anniversary of the ride by Oldsmobile? At the time, they were the “world’s fastest moving car company”.
Perhaps some of the best Star Tours posters didn’t feature the Starspeeder 3000 at all! Sold at Disneyland when Star Tours opened were these travel posters to the various planets of the original trilogy. Note that there’s two for Endor. Which ones do you have?
We didn’t want to focus on the advertisements but hey, why not? Check out the concept art version of Chewbacca riding in the Starspeeder!
This ad is significant only because it was the first poster made featuring the use of photography. Used for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, it truly IS the most amazing ride in the universe!
Coming out of left field is this poster from Walt Disney World, commemorating the grand opening of Star Tours at Disney-MGM Studios in 1990 despite the ride opening in December of 1989. Oh, M&M’s…
In 2009, D23 Expo guests were the first to learn about a brand new Star Tours experience coming in 2011. Even better, they were given one of three variations of “Star Tours II” poster featuring Darth Vader, Yoda, or C-3PO, all characters coming to the new attraction. (We went with C-3PO, not realizing he would become our future pilot).
The attraction inevitably had to close and one of the older Star Tours posters got reused in Florida for the LAST TRIP TO ENDOR. Oh look, R2-D2 is playing chicken with Star Tours! (Photo by: partyhare/flikr)
Leading up to the launch of the new Star Tours, you can find various billboards on display…
2011 came at last and Star Tours became Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. This brand new poster was made available for purchase in a variety of sizes at the time of launch, BUT prior to launch, a RE-LAUNCHING version of the poster was on display at the Disneyland entrance.
In Japan, guests were able to take home merchandise with artwork that resembled this piece below.
When the new attraction opened in 2011, there were also new artwork created for miscellaneous merchandise featuring some of the newer planets you visit, but ironically, we never go to Bespin and no longer went to Endor.
2015 marked the first new update to Star Tours since the relaunch, going to nowhere aka Jakku. This poster hung at the entrance to Disneyland and on banners at Disney World but was not made available for purchase.
At the D23 Expo 2017, the 30th anniversary Star Tours meant an exclusive poster for sale. Here’s a look at the styles featuring different colors.
With the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi in December 2017, came another update to Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, this time to the planet Crait. This poster also hasn’t been made available for purchase.
And lastly, the latest poster created for Star Tours with the release of The Rise of Skywalker, is a new attraction poster of the Star Speeder 1000 over the planet Exegol. This poster from 2019, is not available for purchase.
And last but not least, we made our very own fan poster featuring our favorite Star Tours pilot, Captain Rex, inspired by the character posters from Solo: A Star Wars Story…
Happy 33rd Birthday, Star Tours!
