POISON RUÏN

Booking Agent EU/UK : Ricky Biondetti & Diego Bustamante

Poison Ruin formed in Philadelphia in 2020. It began as a solo recording project but developed into a full band by the end of the year. Their music combines classic anarcho/crust punk with a variety of influences including oi!, american post-punk, NWOBHM, and dungeon synth. The band heavily utilizes dark medieval imagery and lyrical themes combined with anarcho iconography. A compilation of their 2020 demos was released as an LP in 2021, followed by the ‘Not Today, Not Tomorrow’ 7” in 2022.

Poison Ruin – a dark and propulsive sound that captivates and lures in while keeping an endearing layer of isolation from the listener. There’s a film or a grit over top of modest layers of gloomy melody and hard punk energy, something like The Outsiders “One to Infinity” in the house The Wipers, Modern Warfare, and A Touch of Hysteria built. This is anarchic, pogo and pit worthy, yet catchy enough to sing back to your friends when your phone battery is dead. Flashes of electronic and synth textures colour the darkened and damp corners of Poison Ruin’s sound world and help keep brief glimpses of an open horizon on the palate for all of us to strive toward.

Hear UNIFORM's new industrial rager "This Is Not a Prayer"

Coming off last year's crushing collaborative LP with Boris , NYC industrial noisemakers Uniform are forging off on their own to deliver their fifth official, and apparently epic studio album. Dubbed American Standard , the album arrives August 23 via Sacred Bones, just ahead of some tour dates.

"Although our new record is best experienced as one cohesive piece, it isn't exactly Dopesmoker ," vocalist Michael Berdan said of the new Uniform album, which features four girthy cut that deal with themes of self destruction and his struggles with bulimia nervosa. "The songs on American Standard feed into an overarching narrative with the goal of retaining their own individual identities."

As a teaser, the band have shared the pummelling, distortion-spiraling "This is Not a Prayer," which you hear up above. Berdan says the track exists "in the netherworld between Public Image Ltd. and Butthole Surfers," and it presents "bludgeoning percussive interplay between dual drummers Michael Sharp and Michael Blume."

The vocalist added that the hard-hitter touches on "the internal paradox that I've experienced while in the throes of an eating disorder. It's about how the best I've ever felt about my physical appearance came when the people I love have told me that I look sick. Rather than taking their concerns to heart, I internalized these sentiments as proof that I was on the right track. I was not."

Uniform will celebrate American Standard with a hometown record release show, which takes place August 30 at New York City's Bowery Ballroom. Poison Ruïn also on the bill. From there, Uniform take off for a quick West Coast jaunt alongside San Francisco grind bruisers World Peace. You can see the full schedule below.

RIKKI ROCKETT Confirms POISON Will Tour In 2025: 'As Usual, There Will Be No Backing Tracks'

POISON drummer Rikki Rockett has confirmed that the band will return to the road next year.

On Monday (June 24),the 62-year-old musician, whose real name is Richard Allan Ream , took to his social media to write: " POISON will be touring in 2025. As usual, there will be no backing tracks. Live, raw and uncut. Warts and all."

Four months ago, Bret Michaels spoke about POISON 's plans to regroup for more shows following the band's 2022 participation in "The Stadium Tour" alongside MÖTLEY CRÜE , DEF LEPPARD and Joan Jett . During a February 25 question-and-answer session aboard the Rock Legends Cruise XI , he said: "When we go back, I think in 2025, it's always been, to me, all-original POISON . We'll have C.C [ DeVille , guitar] and Bobby [ Dall , bass] and Rikki and myself and go do another big stadium tour and arena tour in 2025."

Regarding his motivation for going back out on the road with POISON after spending most of his time touring with his solo band, Bret said: "We've known each other since we've been in junior high school… I wouldn't be here without Bobby or Rikki or C.C. And then, as you go along, we've been together a long time — still great friends. If anyone saw 'The Stadium Tour' , that was a party. And when you're out there with that DEF LEPPARD and MÖTLEY and Joan , you're talking A-plus awesomeness. And we just came out and brought it.

"For me, what it is, we do about a couple of years solo, and then we'll go out and do 35 or 40 dates with POISON ," he explained. "And we set it up, we schedule it."

POISON 's long-delayed North American trek with DEF LEPPARD , MÖTLEY CRÜE and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was originally planned for 2020 and later moved to 2021 and then to 2022.

In 2018, POISON completed the "Nothin' But A Good Time" tour with CHEAP TRICK and POP EVIL .

POISON 's last album of new material was 2002's "Hollyweird" . An album of covers, "Poison'd" , followed in 2007.

Back in 2018, Dall said that POISON "should" be making a new studio album but claimed that he didn't know if it would happen. "I'm not going to bullshit you and say there's any [new music] in the process [of being made]," he told All That Shreds . "Would I like there to be? Yes. But, it's a matter of everyone having the time. Everybody in the band has other commitments. Some members have younger children than others. So between those two issues, it's difficult, and, you know, [there are] health issues as we get older. Should we be making a new record? Yes, definitely. But will it happen? I don't know."

In a 2017 interview, Rikki acknowledged that part of the reason the band hasn't been motivated to work on new music has been the fact that fans rarely show interest in hearing fresh material performed live when classic rock groups go on tour. "We could write the second coming of 'Talk Dirty To Me' , and I don't know if people wanna hear it or not, and that's a frustrating thing; it really is," he said. " AEROSMITH was able to do it, but not everybody is. I mean, even THE ROLLING STONES have had problems with that in the last few years. So… I don't know. But I do think it's important to stay viable. For the 'über fans,' it's always a really, really good thing. And that's what you do it for — you do it for you, you do it for the real fans, the real true fans."

More recently, Rockett admitted that he and other members of POISON harbored some resentment toward Michaels , whose frequent tours as a solo artist caused the band to take a five-year break from the road.

"I think we need to get away from each other and do other things, but at the same time, I think he spent a little too much time away," Rockett said. "There's definitely some resentment, but not resentment like I want him to fail. I want him to do good. I just want POISON to be important too, and I would like [him] to put a little more energy into POISON ."

Poison will be touring in 2025. As usual, there will be no backing tracks. Live, raw and uncut. Warts and all. Posted by Rikki Rockett on  Monday, June 24, 2024

'I hope we don't ruin it.' Third Eye Blind drummer gives update on band's new music

Sales for Third Eye Blind ’s 1997 debut self-titled album were a slow, consistent burn, peaking on Billboard a year after its release, and eventually reaching the Recording Industry Association of America ’s 6x platinum certification by 2001. Their post-grunge alternative rock sound is responsible for several millennial earworms, showcasing frontman Stephan Jenkins’s bouncy cadences and uniquely edgy lyrics for the pop radio stations where they saw copious radio play.

Integral to the band’s hip-hop-esque danceability are the punchy grooves of drummer Brad Hargreaves, often accented by loops, and always with expressively dynamic production. I recently spoke with him about his influences as a young musician, his power pop sound and about rumors of an upcoming batch of new songs.

Q: Y’all were great last time through town. Do you have any stories of visiting Cincinnati that I can share?

A: Last time we were there, we threw out the first pitch of the Reds game . Me and Alex, our bass player – I threw it, he caught it. We actually completed the play. We practiced. We did a good job, so that was fun.

Q: You went to UC Berkeley, and got a degree in history. What got you into history?

A: A professor I had there inspired me and introduced me to the threads that tie history together. You see how things are now, and then look back and figure out the pieces of history – the mistakes and misunderstandings, and also the smart things people have done to get us where we are. I like the logic of that – having a deeper understanding of today by looking back on even just the last century, which is what I really focused on in my studies.

Q: When did you decide you wanted to be a drummer as a career? Or even that it was possible to make a career as a drummer?

A: I never thought of it as a career. I knew in sixth grade that I was going to play drums for the rest of my life, and that's just the way it was. I was naive in terms of thinking about a career and a job and making money. I never really thought about that stuff.

I started playing little gigs in eighth grade and freshman year. You get 20 bucks to go play at the fair or whatever, with whatever little band. I always was able to get paid. It was something I loved. I would play for free all the time, too.

Over time, it became something that I could make a living doing. Then I got really lucky to meet Stephan – that generational songwriter that wrote songs that really resonate with people. That was the piece that elevated it to a whole different echelon, I guess.

Q: How did you meet Stephan?

A: I met him through people I knew from Berkeley. He attended Cal previously, so he had relationships in the music scene. A guy I was taking a music course with said, "Hey, my friend's in a band. They're looking for a drummer." I think the person said, "He's got the look in his eye. I think he's going to do something." And that was spot on. Steven was on a mission from the moment I met him.

Q: Were the other bands you played with before you got into Third Eye Blind mostly rock?

A: I was playing everything. I supported myself through college. My dad was giving me a little bit of money, thankfully, and I got some grants to go to school, which paid the rest of my rent and food. Then I was just playing a bunch of shows – reggae, rock, jazz, funk, R&B, everything. I really wanted to be an all-around musician and player. So I would take any gig just to learn how to play different styles authentically.

Then eventually I didn't really want to spread myself thin and play music that I didn't necessarily have a huge emotional connection to. So I dialed it back and that's right around the time I met Third Eye Blind. I was just really fortunate.

Q: The production of your drums has always been one of my favorite parts of the sound of the band. Who do you model your drum sound after?

A: All my heroes. People talk about the fancy stuff, or the beats, or parts they play, but they don't often talk about the sound they're creating. It's not just the drummer. The producers and engineers that create the sounds on the record are a huge part of what makes the sound of the band.

John Bonham listened to the sound he's creating – the way he's hitting the drum. Stewart Copeland, Phil Collins or any guy that's really famous – the sound of their drums is special and deep. And it's something that doesn't really get talked about – the way a drummer hits a drum, it's a signature.

It's a huge thing that people are drawn to, but they don't often think about what they're actually hearing. The sound and the way you hit a drum, and the physiology – the way your body is drawing the sound out of a drum is a huge thing. And every well-known drummer has a unique way that they achieve that.

Q: Stephan is a bit of a provocateur. There are lots of stories of him poking at people, and I can see how that might cause some friction in the band. Are you, generally, personally in on his exploits? Do you have any wisdom about how to deal with band drama?

A: I'm an expert (jokingly). It's difficult to be heard as a songwriter or a musician. People don't just give you a microphone. You have to demand it. It's exceedingly difficult to get heard. A lot of stuff that we get into – Stephan doesn't usually start those things. It'll be something that someone says – and his perspective is, "No, I earned a spot, and I demand to be heard." It's largely through the force of his will that we’ve achieved a lot of our success.

Q: Word is you're working on new tunes. How's that going?

A: We recorded four, five, six tracks almost two years ago. We're waiting on Stephan to finish the lyrics. The last 10% is basically 90% of the work because it's hard to tie a bow on all the defined points and profound lyrics that we’re all accustomed to him delivering.

But it's great. It's like some of the coolest sounding drums I've ever recorded – to your question earlier. The engineer did a phenomenal job. We were in Ocean Way Studio. So I hope we don't ruin it in the mix and people get a chance to hear the way that I heard them in that room when we were playing them.

Forget the debate, the Supreme Court just declared open season on regulators

As the country reels from a presidential debate that left no one looking good, the Supreme Court has swooped in with what could be one of the most consequential decisions it has ever made, in the context of the tech industry. The Supreme Court announced Friday morning that it had ruled 6-3 (you know who voted how) to overturn Chevron v. Natural Resources Defense Council, a case from 1984 that established a very important doctrine in federal regulation. The 1984 Chevron decision established that independent agencies like the EPA, SEC, and FCC also have a say in this.

DEI? More like 'common decency' — and Silicon Valley is saying 'no thanks'

The tech industry's DEI allergy has hit a new low, as Silicon Valley leaders are once again waving their "meritocracy" banners high and wide. Scale AI's Alexandr Wang has decided that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are passé — and replaced them with his shiny new acronym MEI: merit, excellence, and intelligence. Of course, the ignorance inspired enthusiastic applause from tech titans like Elon Musk on X, while LinkedIn's startup crowd rolled their eyes so hard they were practically doing backflips.

RIKKI ROCKETT - "POISON Will Be Touring In 2025"

RIKKI ROCKETT - "POISON Will Be Touring In 2025"

Poison drummer, Rikki Rockett, has confirmed that the band will be touring in 2025.

Back in March, it was announced that during a Q&A session on the Rock Legends Cruise XI, Poison frontman Bret Michaels hinted the band will do another headline tour. Speaking with Eddie Trunk in February on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation, Michaels said "We're gonna bring all the Poison greatest hits reunion and make it part of what Parti-Gras (solo tour) is. We'll make it the Poison reunion Parti-Gras and bring a lot of great bands and just without a doubt unleash all those Poison greatest hits."

Michaels' comments during the Rock Legends Cruise XI Q&A below:

"We’ve known each other since we’ve been in junior high school. I wouldn’t be here without Bobby or Rikki or C.C. And then, as you go along, we’ve been together a long time... still great friends. If anyone saw The Stadium Tour, that was a party. And when you’re out there with Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe and Joan Jett, you’re talking A-plus awesomeness. And we just came out and brought it. For me, what it is, we do a couple of years solo, and then we’ll go out and do 35 or 40 dates with Poison. And we set it up, we schedule it.”

Paramount+ recently announced that the new docuseries, Nöthin' But A Good Time: The Uncensored Story Of ‘80s Hair Metal, will premiere exclusively on the service later this year.

Directed by Jeff Tremaine (jackass, The Dirt), the three-part series showcases the notoriously wild ‘80s hard rock phenomenon and features interviews with those who lived the scene, including Bret Michaels, Stephen Pearcy, Nuno Bettencourt, Dave “Snake'' Sabo, and Riki Rachtman, along with Corey Taylor and Steve-O, among many others.

Based on the acclaimed book “Nöthin But a Good Time: The Uncensored History Of The ‘80s Hard Rock Explosion” by esteemed rock journalists Tom Beaujour and Richard Bienstock, the series delivers a fresh and shockingly candid behind-the-scenes look at one of music’s most iconic eras. Each episode showcases the insanity and blazing ambition that has enthralled generations of music lovers and continues to influence culture to this day.

“This docuseries is a celebration of the most outrageous decade in rock n’ roll. It’s my love letter to the ‘80s,” said Tremaine.

Nöthin' But A Good Time: The Uncensored Story Of ‘80s Hair Metal is executive produced by Jeff Tremaine and Shanna Newton for Gorilla Flicks; Eric Wattenberg, Scott Lonker and Will Nothacker for Wheelhouse’s Spoke Studios; Erik Olsen; and Bruce Gillmer and Michael Maniaci for MTV Entertainment Studios. Richard Bienstock and Tom Beaujour serve as co-executive producers.

Rikki Rockett Confirms There Will Be A Poison Tour In 2025

poison ruin band tour

Poison drummer Rikki Rockett took to social media on Monday to confirm that the celebrated hair metal band will definitely be touring sometime in 2025. The 62-year-old rock star emphatically stated that he and Poison will be hitting the road soon in a post on Facebook . Rockett wrote, “Poison will be touring in 2025. As usual, there will be no backing tracks. Live, raw and uncut. Warts and all.” Four months ago, Poison frontman Bret Michaels shared his thoughts about Poison’s plan to play more shows in the future following the band’s successful 2022 run as part of “The Stadium Tour” with Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, and Joan Jett . “When we go back, I think in 2025, it’s always been, to me, all-original Poison,” said Michaels. “We’ll have C.C [DeVille] and Bobby [Dall] and Rikki and myself and go do another big stadium tour and arena tour in 2025.” ( Blabbermouth )

STONES TOUR ‘24 HACKNEY DIAMONDS TO STOP IN SANTA CLARA ON JULY 17, 2024 AT LEVI’S® STADIUM

poison ruin band tour

The Rolling Stones have announced they are going back on the road with a brand-new tour performing in 16 cities across the U.S. and Canada, stopping in Santa Clara, CA on July 17, 2024 at Levi’s® Stadium. Fans can expect to experience Mick, Keith and Ronnie play their most popular hits ranging from “Start Me Up,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Satisfaction” and more, as well as fan favorite deep cuts and music from their new album HACKNEY DIAMONDS . The legendary rockers will be returning to the road following the success of their history-making and chart-topping studio album HACKNEY DIAMONDS , which has just received a Grammy nomination for the project’s lead single “Angry.” Showcasing a new stage and high energy that only the Stones can bring as one of the world’s most iconic artists ever, this tour will guarantee a show to remember.

This past October, The Rolling Stones took over a New York City club, Racket NYC, to celebrate the release of Hackney Diamonds and turned it into a rock show, garnering rave reviews and giving the lucky audience a taste of what’s to come. Tried and tested, these songs are ready to hit the stadiums following their incredible preview…

“Everyone knew they’d just witnessed something historic.” – Rolling Stone

“For half an hour, a little club turned into a rock-and-roll church.” – Pitchfork

Hackney Diamonds is their first studio set of new material since 2005’s A Bigger Bang . Since then, the Stones have continued to smash box office records on a series of global sell-out tours and released 2016’s GRAMMY® Award winning Blue & Lonesome , which featured their brilliant versions of many of the blues tracks that helped shape their sound, and topped album charts around the world. Last year, they thrilled European audiences totalling nearly a quarter of a million on the anniversary Sixty tour. The Rolling Stones have sold over 250 million albums worldwide.
