The best cruises to book for 2024

Author: Kaye Holland

From classic routes to more unusual, here's Iglu Cruises’ expert guide to the holidays at sea that should be on your radar

Approximately 35.7 million people are planning to set sail in 2024 – up from 31.5 million in 2023 and a six per cent increase from the record levels set in 2019 – according to the Cruise Lines International Association. And for good reason: a cruise is fantastic and cost effective to see an array of destinations in just one trip, while only unpacking once. Life onboard has come on leaps and bounds too and today’s ships, just like hotels, come in all different sizes and styles ensuring everyone can find a cruise to suit them. But which are the cruises you should be booking for the year ahead? We spoke to Iglu Cruises, the UK's largest independent cruise travel agency, to find out which cruises you should book immediately in order to avoid disappointment. So grab your credit card, get online and nab yourself an exciting cruise (or two) for 2024.

Norwegian Fjords from Southampton with P&O Cruises Sail from Southampton with P&O onboard the 5,200-passenger Iona, the biggest cruise ship that the British cruise line has ever built. (The vessel weighs 185,000 tonnes, has 17 passenger decks and takes up the size of four football pitches). Two days of scenic sailing are broken up with stops in stunning Stavanger, aka the gateway to the fjords, the tiny village of Olden (it only has 500 inhabitants), Geiranger (one of the world’s longest and deepest fjords) and the former Viking stronghold of Haugesund. A seven-night Norwegian Fjords from Southampton cruise departs June 8, 2024. From £653 per person.

Mediterranean Voyage with Lake Garda, Venice & Barcelona Stays Can’t decide between a land break or an ocean voyage? Then Cunard's 14 night cruise and stay holiday could be the solution. You’ll fly from London Heathrow to Lake Garda, the largest and arguably the best of all the Italian lakes, for a three night stay before being whisked by train to Venice. Enjoy a two-night stay in Italy's famous floating city before picking up your cruise. Expect to visit Zadar, Split, Valletta, Palma De Mallorca, and buzzy Barcelona (where you’ll also have two nights on land so as to fully immerse yourself in Catalonia’s sultry capital) before flying back to Heathrow. Two sea days afford plenty of time to make the most of life onboard Queen Victoria, one of Cunard’s three iconic Queens. Cunard’s 14-night Mediterranean Voyage with Lake Garda, Venice & Barcelona Stays departs September 18, 2024. Prices from £1,929 per person including flights and transfers.

Sydney Stay, Hunter Valley & Australia Circumnavigation with Princess Cruises Say G’day to the land Down Under with Princess Cruises. This epic 34-night cruise starts with a three-night stay in Sydney – so that you can take in famous landmarks like Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and Bondi Beach – before ticking off all the big hitters: Hobart (Tasmania), Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, the Kimberley Coast, Darwin, Cairns, Brisbane and more. All told, if it’s an epic Australian adventure you’re after, then this cruise has your name on it. Princess Cruises’ Sydney Stay, Hunter Valley & Australia Circumnavigation cruise departs on March 14, 2025. From £4,579 per person including flights.

Greece, Cyprus & Turkey from Athens Soak up the gorgeous Greek Isles on Celebrity Cruises’ 10-night sailing onboard the contemporary Celebrity Infinity. This itinerary will transport you to Kusadi, Rhodes, Limassol, and Crete – and each island has its own distinct character. Think of this cruise as a Greek mezze, aimed at giving you a taste of what the islands have to offer. On board, expect stylish, all-inclusive dining, lively nightlife and welcoming kids’ clubs. Celebrity Cruises’ Greece, Cyprus & Turkey from Athens cruise departs April 5, 2024. From £1,116 per person including flights and transfers.

Christmas & New Year Caribbean Islands from Barbados with Marella Cruises Dreaming of a warm Christmas? You're not alone. Bing Crosby may have yearned for a White Christmas but here at World of Cruising

HQ, we’d rather have some vitamin D. If you share our sentiments, then Marella’s Caribbean cruise is sure to put a smile on your face. Departing from Bridgetown, Barbados’ charismatic capital, this 15-night holiday season sailing provides guaranteed sunshine, white sand beaches and plenty of diverse islands – St Thomas, St Croix, Dominica, Grenadines, Barbados, St Lucia, Curacao, Aruba, Bonaire, and Grenada – all feature. Marella Cruises’ Christmas & New Year Caribbean Islands from Barbados sailing departs December 22, 2024. From £3,210 per person including flights and transfers.

Half-term Spain & France from Southampton cruise with Royal Caribbean The May half-term is a golden opportunity for a family getaway and if you’re looking to take the kids on a cruise, Royal Caribbean – with its family-friendly entertainment and all-inclusive prices – gets our vote. On their ‘Half-term Spain & France’ sailing you’ll also avoid the stress of flight delays and luggage restrictions by departing from Southampton. The seven night voyage calls at Bordeaux, Bilbao, La Coruna and Paris, before returning to Southampton. On the two sea days, children (and adults) can take advantage of the array of pools and waterslides. Royal Caribbean’s Half Term Spain & France from Southampton cruise departs May 26, 2024. From £714 per person.

Bruges & Amsterdam from Portsmouth with Virgin Voyages Alternatively, if you don’t fancy spending your holiday-at-sea surrounded by screaming children, the adults-only Virgin Voyages is the cruise line that needs to be on your radar. The 2,700-passenger Resilient Lady – the third ship in Sir Richard Branson’s fleet – has a five-night itinerary, departing from Portsmouth and calling at Amsterdam (where you'll stay overnight) and Bruges, that’s ideal for those who don’t want to commit to a full cruise. Onboard sailors (as Virgin Voyages refers to passengers) will be able to get a tattoo, and attend a drag show or pool party sans kids. Virgin Voyages’ Bruges & Amsterdam from Portsmouth cruise departs on September 14, 2024. From £593 per person including WiFi and tips.

South America Transatlantic & Canaries with Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon stays with NCL The Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro is a seductive mix of sun, samba, football, food, beaches and Bossa Nova and chances are, if the city isn’t on your bucket list, it’s because you’ve already been. For everyone else, there’s NCL’s unforgettable 22-night cruise that includes a pre cruise stay of two nights in the sizzling Samba city. Next, you’ll board Norwegian Star and sail to other Brazilian destinations including beautiful Buzios, Salvador, Maceio, and Reclife before crossing the Atlantic to Canaries. Book this cruise and you’ll never run the risk of being dull at the dinner table again – you’ll be able to dine out on this sailing for weeks, months, and maybe even years to come. NCL’s 22 night South America Transatlantic & Canaries with Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon stays departs on April 7, 2024. From £2,499 per person including hotel stays in Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro, flights and transfers, and free at sea upgrade.

Caribbean Spice Islands with Seabourn Explore the Caribbean in style on Seabourn Ovation who counts the First Lady of British Musical Theatre, Elaine Paige, as her godmother. Think of Ovation as an intimate, all-inclusive hotel at sea that will whisk you to flagship islands such as Antigua, Grenada and Barbados over the course of 11 sun-drenched days. Seabourn crew will have the low-down on the best spots for swimming and snorkelling before serving you expertly made cocktails on your return to the ship. Seabourn’s 11-night Caribbean Spice Islands cruise departs on November 20, 2024. From £4,879 per person including flights, transfers and a three-night stay in Barbados.

The Svalbard Express Full Voyage from Bergen with Hurtigruten Experience much-loved Norway with the line that has been sailing these waters for 130 years: Hurtigruten. Perhaps less known by the mass market, Hurtigruten’s ships and itineraries create an elevated experience for those seeking to do more than just look. Don’t just visit Norway. Live it. And if there’s one itinerary that rises up above the rest, it’s got to be Hurtigruten’s signature voyage: The Svalbard Express – a 16-day adventure onboard MS Trollfjord, from Bergen all the way along the northern Norwegian coastline to Spitsbergen, the largest of Svalbard’s islands. Hurtigruten’s 15-night The Svalbard Express voyage departs May 17 , 2024. From £3,670 per person including flights and transfers.

Popular Iglu Cruise Destinations

Different types of cruises with iglu, cruise from the uk.

These cruises usually depart from Southampton, so all you have to worry about is getting there in time for check-in. The simplicity of this option means you don't have to deal with the stress of international airports, and can simply switch straight into holiday mode from the minute you board the ship. Often these cruises will explore less far-flung destinations - think Belgium, France or Guernsey. For cruises heading further afield, cruise-only options can mean more time spent at sea - but this won't be a problem if your ship has plenty to keep you entertained.

If a jam-packed itinerary is important to you, then a fly-cruise might be the best option. These deals include international return flights to the city your cruise will depart from - so instead of having to sail all the way to the Caribbean, for instance, you fly straight there to board the ship. If your dream cruise involves seeing as many sights as possible - with the ship merely acting as your base - then a fly-cruise might be your best bet.

Cruise and Stay

Can't decide if you should try a cruise, or park up on a sun-soaked beach somewhere? Why not both! Cruise-and-stays offer the best of both worlds, incorporating a period of cruising (often seven nights) with a few extra nights in a hotel tacked on before or after. This stay is a great way to ease into holiday mode after a stressful time at home, or embrace a change of pace following days spent at sea. Think a Mexican Riviera cruise followed by a glitzy Vegas stay, or a glamorous stint in Barcelona following a jaunt around the Canaries!

River Cruise

A great way to see European cities or parts of Asia, river cruises take you right to the heart of each destination. You could be soaking in a Budapest thermal bath, sipping wine in Lyon or visiting Vienna's dazzling opera house. With the vessels often much smaller in size than those which sail at sea, you'll experience a slightly more intimate atmosphere.

Iglu Cruise reveals top 2024 trends

  • Sheena Adesilu
  • December 14, 2023

iglu cruise march 2024

All-inclusive sailings, family trips, combination holidays and themed cruises are among the top trends for 2024, according to Iglu Cruise.

The cruise travel agency has shared its predictions for the year ahead, based on booking patterns and customer insights.

Travellers are opting for all-inclusive sailings, particularly where no tipping is required. Multi-generational trips during the school holidays are also gaining traction, with more family cabins becoming available.

Demand for combination holidays has led to Iglu Cruise’s new ‘spice route’ voyage from Mumbai to Sri Lanka and Singapore with an eight-night  India’s Tigers & Golden Triangle  land tour.

Next year will see more themed, immersive cruises offering experiences ranging from theatrical performances and workshops to Pride and stargazing with astronomers.

Cruise lines are seeking to meet the needs of singles, with a rise in solo cabins per ship. Research also showed an uplift in demand for the Artic in 2023 versus 2022, underscoring a trend for cooler climes.

Dave Mills, Chief Commercial Officer at Iglu Cruise, said: “I predict 2024 will be about an increased confidence to travelling, with people having a sense of ‘carpe diem’ and committing to creative and multi-faceted trips, to create brilliant memories and to have something of interest for each guest travelling.

“The demand for cruise is larger than ever, due to a combination of factors including more choice of cruises; more capacity; higher awareness of this type of holiday; an interest in value-for-money holidays; general confidence in travel and inspiring cruises, meaning it’s easy to commit to many cruise holidays in one year. We are confident about a strong 2024 and are even selling a lot of cruises for 2025.”

When is the best time of year to visit Galapagos 2024?

Any time of year in Galapagos will give you a wonderful experience! Thanks to their position on the equator, the Galapagos Islands are the perfect year-round destination, with good temperatures and wildlife activity every month of the year.

The Galapagos climate and weather is another of the things that make it unique, and we have a couple of recommendations about the best time to visit Galapagos 2024 if you have some specific activities in mind.

If you are prone to seasickness —then avoid September in Galapagos, as this is the month when the seas tend to be roughest.

If you enjoy snorkeling —then you'll have a great time any month on a Galapagos cruise 2024! However, note that water temperatures are warmest between December and May, but there is more abundant undersea wildlife in the cooler months of June to November.

Isaac cleave was lovely spoken and clear he did try is hardest to help me as he was not 100% certain if we could have an inside cabin with the use of a mobility scooter on a Fred Olsen cruise special deal as the accessibility room was not on the deal as he thought at the time of the call…it was a pleasure to speak with him

Customer service as it should be

Customer service is so important and Mark at Iglu made my cruise booking extremely easy and trouble free. He was friendly and professional and answered any queries I had. I have always booked my cruises through Iglu and have been happy with the service they provide.

Cruise booking

Assisted to book cruise by Molly May. She patiently went through the process , answered queries as able and followed up by email and phone call the same and following day to ensure booking went through, after a problem with credit card payment.Appreciate this is partly due to commission, but presents as very pleasant and helpful throughout, trying to

Have used Iglu twice before and process has always been excellent. Laura provided timely quotes over several days before I was able to confirm booking. Excellent telephone manner and a pleasure to deal with.

What a shame

I got on reasonably well using Iglu Cruises they were helpful and informative but… they took too long to answer the phone and when I tried to contact them by phone their customer care line wasn’t available as per their website opening hours so annoying so I had to keep ringing back. it’s a shame that let them down they could have 5 stars

He patiently explained all the details He did not rush us to make a decision He gave personal touches and could relate to the queries we raised. He was prompt in replying to my email We eagerly look forward to our Virgin Voyage experience with your Lady Scarlet.

Friendly professional service

Friendly professional service, and able to match online price when we were unable to complete our booking ourselves due to a technical issue. Knowledgeable and helpful staff member, very happy so far.

Knowledgeable and kind

Isaac is a very knowledgeable, kind and attentive cruise consultant. He most definitely listened to our needs and ensured we were allocated the best cabin for our budget. He's also the first cruise consultant who's asked us about any food allergies right up front - normally we have to raise it with the crew on board. We're very impressed.

Used Iglu many times to book cruises

Sara was very helpful as I was in a dilemma as to which cabin was right for us. The extra reassurance given was so helpful and everything was explained clearly ensuring we booked the cruise we were hoping for. Fabulous customer service and confidence that I couldn’t get from booking online. Will book future cruises this way.

Great communication

Great communication No hassle getting multiple quotes to compare Great prices Lisa was extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. Took the time to find the cabin to suit us Have used Iglu before and will use again

Good company with some communication issues

Initial experience fantastic. Daisy is an asset. However, I've sent a couple of queries since and received no reply. Then went on chat and again brilliant service received however I feel they could make things easier if they replied to the contact us form or just removed it as an option if they've no intention of responding. Would (and likely will) use again.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISE 2024-26 GUIDE

When it comes to planning the ultimate getaway, there are so many reasons why cruise vacations rank among the most popular travel options. First of all, they’re completely stress-free. On a cruise vacation, all the planning is taken care of by the cruise line — from the  destinations  you sail to and the  shore excursions  available at each port, to a full range of  entertainment  and activities happening onboard every day. If you’re not a planner, or if the only things you’re looking to focus on during your getaway is savoring great food, relaxing, and soaking up the sights, cruise vacations are the way to go. A cruise vacation is also a great option if you’re traveling with the whole family, especially when you opt for a Royal Caribbean cruise. All of the ships in this cruise line’s fleet offer family-friendly experiences for guests of all ages. Even little ones will find plenty of ways to play with spaces and activities designed for tots to tweens. One of the top reasons savvy travelers love cruising, though, is because of the incredible value it offers. With Royal Caribbean, your cruise fare includes access to most of the ship’s attractions, select dining venues and all of the entertainment onboard. If you want to make your  experience  even more all-inclusive, you can opt for  beverage  and  specialty dining  packages that cover drinks and dinner at some of the most exclusive restaurants in the fleet. On top of all that, the cruise line presents frequent limited-time offers and seasonal sales, making it easy to score big savings when booking your vacation.

2024 Alaska Cruises: Ports, deals, & info

Cruise ships in Alaska

Is taking a cruise to Alaska in 2024 and seeing glaciers, moose, dog sledding and whales the sort of summer adventure you want to try?

The 2024 Alaska cruises look to be the best lineup of cruises to The Last Frontier yet, with lots of ships visiting the beautiful ports in Southeast Alaska.

Now is the perfect time to start planning your Alaska cruise so that you can take advantage of lower prices and greater availability of excursions, airfare, and more.

Here's a roundup of the most frequently asked questions about Alaska cruises so you know everything you need to book the perfect Alaska cruise .

When is the 2024 Alaska cruise season?

The Alaska cruise season typically runs between April and October, although most cruise lines tend to offer cruises between May and September.

The choice of which month to sail to Alaska depends on a few variables:

  • What wildlife or natural scenery you want to see
  • How warm/cold you are comfortable with enduring

You won't find Alaska cruises during the other months of the year due to the cold temperatures.

When is the best month to go on a 2024 Alaska cruise?

People that are have never visited Alaska often wonder what is the best month best month to go to Alaska on a cruise .

The months of April, May, September, and October 2024 tend to be the least crowded time to go because school is in session and the cooler temperatures.

Inversely, July 2024 and August 2024 and the most popular months to go on an Alaska cruise.

Summer sees warmer temperatures but comes with higher prices and more crowds. Fall and late spring have lower prices and less crowds, but it can be chillier.

Which cruise lines will sail to Alaska in 2024?

You will find a variety of cruise lines offering small and large cruise ships offering a 2024 Alaska cruise:

Major cruise lines

Carnival Cruise Line

  • Celebrity Cruises
  • Holland America Line
  • Norwegian Cruise Line

Princess Cruises

  • Royal Caribbean International
  • Silversea Cruises

Small and Expedition cruise lines

  • Alaskan Dream Cruises
  • American Cruise Lines
  • Lindblad Expeditions

Which homeports can you sail from to Alaska?

To take a 2024 Alaska cruise, you can board a ship from these ports:

Seattle, Washington

  • Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
  • Anchorage, Alaska

Read more : Where do Alaska cruises leave from & which should you choose?

There are several small ship lines, which generally have American-built ships and crew sail from and around Alaska waters:

How long is an Alaska cruise?

Nearly all 2024 Alaska cruises are 7-nights long that visit the Inside Passage or Alaska Glacier cruises.

There are shorter and longer 2024 Alaska cruises, with some as long as 22-nights.  But odds are your Alaska cruise will be a week long in duration.

What is the best 2024 Alaska cruise itinerary?

A majority of the Alaska cruises sail the Inside Passage, which is a waterway along the southeast coast of Alaska and British Columbia that visit the glaciers and the most popular cities along the way.

Some of the longer cruises will go further north in Alaska, sailing through the Gulf of Alaska. These typically begin or end in Anchorage.

Inside Passage cruises usually begin in Seattle or Vancouver. Expect to see lots of natural sights and wildlife, even while simply sailing between ports. Cruise ships sail along the coast, which means you could see eagles, whales, dolphins, or bears from the ship along the coast.

Another great benefit to sailing the Inside Passage is less risk of getting seasick. Since your ship is sailing between large land masses, ocean conditions usually remain quite calm.

How much does an Alaska cruise cost?

Alaska cruise prices depend on a variety of factors, but there can be deals if you are strategic about your sailing.

How much an Alaska cruise costs will depend on: cabin category, time of year, length of sailing, and cruise line you select.

An Alaskan cruise cost can range between $600 – $10,000 per person, but if that number sounds quite large, it's because there are so many choices that greatly impact the price of a cruise.

It's a mistake to assume all Alaska cruises are the same, as well as the price is going to be same regardless of when you sail or when you book.

Alaska Cruises 2024

On this page you will find a 2024 Alaska cruise schedule for Glacier Route cruises that travel between Vancouver and Whittier or Vancouver and Seward . In our experience, these represent the best Alaska cruise itineraries , allowing travelers to see more of Alaska's glaciers, wildlife, and scenery from both sea and land. You can use our cruise finder to see additional route options, including roundtrip Alaska cruises from Seattle and Vancouver .

Princess Cruises and Holland America Line use Whittier for their "turnaround" port, while other lines use Seward . Whittier is a bit closer to Anchorage, but Seward is a very scenic option, particularly if you have time to spend a night or two before or after your cruise. See our cruise tour page for ideas on combining your cruise with a land tour.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO Alaska Cruises Insider

The sheer size of Alaska lends itself to a wide variety of terrain and travel experiences. This diversity means you need to be prepared for a lot of change while traveling.

The best time to travel to Alaska depends on your priorities. If you're interested in the Midnight Sun, the longest day of the year is June 21, when you can experience close to 20 or more hours of sunlight in some parts of the state. If you're more interested in the Alaska Northern Lights, the earlier sunset in later summer will allow more contrast and better views of this natural wonder.

No two days will be the same, and you'll need to pack your clothing to prepare for temperature changes throughout the day. Think layers: zip-up sweaters, boots, rain jackets.

ALASKAN CUISINE WILD IS THE WAY

Alaskan food focuses on locally sourced ingredients that reflect the state's rugged terrain and the vast oceans surrounding it. The 13 most affordable alaska cruises for 2024 & beyond.

Book your Alaska cruise during one of the best promotions of the year.

The Most Affordable Alaska Cruises

The Holland America Noordam in Skagway.

Courtesy of Holland America Line

There's no better time than now to book your dream vacation to The Great Land. Cruise vacations are more popular than ever, and affordable cruises are getting harder to find – especially for beloved destinations like Alaska.

Cruisers can nab some of the lines' best deals of the year during wave season. This period, which extends from January to March, refers to the "tidal wave" of lower pricing across the cruising industry during this time. Some cruise lines even kick off their sales in December, so it's advisable to begin your search for discounted pricing early.

Below, we've included some of the best Alaska cruise deals available right now for sailings in 2024 and 2025. All quoted prices are per person for double occupancy and were accurate at the time of writing. Keep in mind: Each itinerary may be available on multiple dates; we've listed the date with the lowest starting price to get you the best value.

Read on to explore the top options for an affordable Alaska cruise.

Find your perfect cruise

The Holland America Noordam in Yakutat Bay.

Holland America's "Time of Your Life" wave season deal features up to 40% off bookings for select sailings from summer 2024 through spring 2025; the sale ends at the end of February. You can also add the premium "Have It All" bundle. This added perk features a signature drink package , specialty dining, shore excursions and Wi-Fi access. The exact pricing and benefits of the package depend on the length of the cruise. The wave season pricing also features a complimentary stateroom upgrade, reduced deposits, and free or discounted fares for kids.

7-Day Glacier Discovery Southbound

Holland America's seven-day voyage aboard Noordam includes an afternoon cruising in Hubbard Glacier and a full day of sailing through picturesque Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. The ship also calls on the ports of Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, with one additional day of scenic cruising on the Inside Passage, before disembarking in Vancouver. Plan to stay an extra day in Vancouver to explore on your own, or opt for a hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tour with Holland America (complete with luggage service and an airport transfer) before taking a flight home later that evening.

This southbound itinerary is also available on May 25, 2025, aboard Nieuw Amsterdam , starting at $679 per person.

7-Day Alaska Inside Passage

This round-trip sailing on Zaandam from Vancouver highlights the Inside Passage with a day of scenic cruising, plus a limited stop in Tracy Arm Inlet for excursions, before reaching the coastal towns of Juneau and Skagway. Then, you'll enjoy another day of scenic cruising in Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve, followed by a stop in Ketchikan and cruising the Inside Passage before disembarking in Vancouver .

The Tracy Arm fjord features glacier-covered mountains and the largest intact coastal temperate rainforest in the country. It is also home to abundant wildlife, including whales, harbor seals, bald eagles, bears and mountain goats. Book the Tracy Arm Fjord & Glacier Explorer excursion to see the majestic beauty of the Tracy Arm wilderness and the twin Sawyer Glaciers up close. You might even see and hear ice calving into the pristine waters. You'll cruise through Stephens Passage on your way back to meet the ship in Juneau.

Zaandam sails this itinerary in 2025, as well. The lowest fare starts at $629 per person for the voyage on May 14, 2025.

The Majestic Princess in Skagway.

Courtesy of Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises' wave season deals feature up to 40% off cruise prices, complimentary room upgrades, $100 deposits, and free fares for third and fourth guests in the same stateroom or suite. The advertised fares on the Princess Cruises website are for the line's MedallionClass experience, which includes dining at the complimentary onboard restaurants, entertainment on the ship, fitness facilities, and the youth and teen clubs. You can add optional upgrades, such as a beverage package, specialty dining, shore excursions and Wi-Fi access, either individually or with a Princess Plus or Princess Premier package.

7-Day Voyage of the Glaciers with Glacier Bay (Northbound)

Princess' seven-day itinerary aboard Grand Princess features the lowest available fare for the line's 2024 Alaska season. The itinerary starts with a relaxing sea day, followed by stops in three ports of call in Alaska: Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway. You'll also have two days of scenic cruising in Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve and College Fjord before disembarking in Whittier, near Anchorage .

The southbound voyage (which is the reverse itinerary) on Grand Princess departs May 15, 2024, from Anchorage and also starts at $398 per person. Or, you can sail that southbound itinerary on Sapphire Princess on May 18, 2024, for the same price.

In 2025, you can book this itinerary on Caribbean Princess for as low as $467 per person, embarking on May 10, 2025.

7-Day Inside Passage (Roundtrip Vancouver)

This shoulder season sailing in September is available on Grand Princess. The round-trip voyage from Vancouver features two days at sea; one day of scenic cruising in Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier; and stops in the coastal towns of Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. While on the ship, spend warmer days outdoors relaxing at The Sanctuary, an adults-only venue. You can also experience one of the line's Discovery at SEA enrichment programs on board, or book one of the affiliated excursions ashore.

This Grand Princess itinerary is also available on May 27, 2025, for as low as $547 per person.

The Norwegian Jewel in Alaska.

Courtesy of Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian's current "Free At Sea" promotion includes a free unlimited open bar package, free specialty dining, free shore excursions and complimentary Wi-Fi access. You'll also find additional deals like 50% off deposits, free third and fourth guests (or $99 per additional person, depending on the sailing), and free airfare for a second guest. Be sure to check the terms and conditions before booking a Norwegian sailing.

7-Day Alaska: Hubbard Glacier & Skagway

Norwegian's sailing from Seward to Vancouver on Norwegian Jewel features two days cruising through Hubbard Glacier, where you'll be able to book the Hubbard Glacier & Wilderness Explorer excursion for an up-close look at North America's largest tidewater glacier. Afterward, the ship calls on Icy Strait Point, Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan (Ward Cove).

In Ketchikan, reserve a spot for the Alaskan Cultural & Lumberjack Show Experience, which includes an entertaining show, a chance to learn about Alaska Native culture, and a tasting of local food and wines. Alaska also offers some of the best fishing conditions in North America, so anglers may want to consider booking a private excursion to go fishing for halibut or salmon. After several days in port, enjoy one more day of scenic cruising through the Inside Passage before disembarking in Vancouver.

In 2025, the seven-day Hubbard Glacier & Skagway itinerary will sail from Vancouver to Whittier. The lowest fare for this cruise starts at $529 per person aboard the Norwegian Jade on May 5, 2025.

7-Day Alaska: Glacier Bay, Skagway & Juneau

This sailing on Norwegian Jewel departs from Vancouver and includes three sea days cruising the Inside Passage, Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve and Hubbard Glacier. The itinerary also calls on the ports of Ketchikan (Ward Cove), Juneau and Skagway.

The 13-mile-long Mendenhall Glacier is one of the top attractions in Juneau, and the line offers a variety of excursions to view the impressive ice sheet. For a bucket list adventure, splurge on the helicopter and dog-sledding excursion to Mendenhall Glacier from Skagway. You can also opt for another once-in-a-lifetime trip: a flightseeing tour by floatplane. You'll fly into the wilderness, kayak across a stream and then hike the surface of the Norris Glacier, a remote glacier in the Coast Mountains that's only accessible by plane or on foot.

If you're looking forward to 2025, you can book a similar itinerary from Whittier to Vancouver on April 28, 2025, starting at $499 per person on Norwegian Jade.

The ship also calls on ports in Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait Point and Ketchikan, with an additional full day cruising the Inside Passage, before disembarking in Vancouver.

For 2025, this same itinerary currently starts at $649 per person for the May 16 sailing on Celebrity Summit.

7-Night Alaska Northbound Glacier

The reverse itinerary of the southbound voyage above, this cruise offers similar ports of call and sea days, except you'll stop in Sitka rather than Skagway. This sailing is also on Celebrity Summit. During your time in Icy Strait Point, consider a whale watching excursion; you are guaranteed to see whales (or receive your money back) on one of the tours departing from their shores. In Sitka, take a guided hike to explore the beautiful Tongass National Forest or a tour to learn about the Tlingit culture. This outing includes a visit to local totem artists and a beer meister, as well as a sampling of regional foods at a popular restaurant.

Or, consider a comparable cruise aboard Celebrity Summit on May 9 or May 23, 2025. Fares start at $649 per person.

Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas on the open ocean.

Royal Caribbean's current deal features up to $600 in onboard credit, 60% off the second guest and kids sail free fares . 7-Night Northbound Alaska & Hubbard Glacier

The reverse itinerary, the Southbound Alaska & Hubbard Glacier voyage, is also available on Radiance of the Seas; prices start at $339 per person for the May 10, 2024, sailing. In 2025, the May 30 northbound itinerary aboard Radiance of the Seas currently begins at $680 per person.

7-Night Alaska Experience Cruise

This round-trip voyage from Seattle on Quantum of the Seas calls on Sitka, Skagway and Juneau in Alaska. It also makes a late afternoon stop in Victoria, British Columbia , where you can plan to have dinner that evening. You'll have two days at sea for relaxing or enjoying all the activities and attractions on the ship, including the RipCord by iFLY skydiving simulator, robotic bartenders and live performances with aerial entertainers. You can also take a ride on the FlowRider surf simulator, surrounded by snowcapped mountain views and calving glaciers.

In 2025, this round-trip voyage from Seattle on Quantum of the Seas starts at $840 per person for the Sept. 8 voyage.

The Carnival Miracle in Alaska.

Courtesy of Carnival Cruise Line

This cruise line advertises limited-time promotional rates and deals throughout the year. You can join Carnival 's VIFP (Very Important Fun Person) Club to unlock even more deals and additional perks. Current specials include reduced deposits, up to 35% off fares, free room upgrades, onboard credit and discounts for families traveling in the same stateroom.

7-Day Alaska from Seattle

This seven-day voyage on Carnival Spirit sails round-trip from Seattle and features one day to explore the ship while at sea, plus a scenic cruising day in Tracy Arm Fjord. Ports of call include Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, as well as a late evening stop in Victoria before you disembark the next day in Seattle. For your day in Ketchikan, consider booking the award-winning Bering Sea Crab Fishermen's Tour on the famed Aleutian Ballad from the Discovery Channel show, "Deadliest Catch."

This itinerary is also offered on Carnival Luminosa . If you are sailing in 2025, you can book the same seven-day cruise starting at $609 per person for the April 14 voyage on Carnival Spirit.

Shorter cruises

A shorter cruise may be an attractive option if you don't have extensive vacation time or you prefer to spend a few days ashore before or after your sailing. If kids are in tow for the adventure – and it's your first time cruising with them – you might also want fewer days at sea to test the waters (literally). See our pick of competitively priced four- and five-night Alaska cruises, below.

Princess Cruises: 4-Day Alaska Sampler

This 2025 cruise aboard Discovery Princess includes one port of call, Ketchikan, and two days at sea between Vancouver and Seattle. This 4-Day Alaska Sampler itinerary is also offered on May 13, 2025, on Royal Princess , with a starting price of $327 per person. The reverse itinerary (Seattle to Vancouver) is offered on May 23, 2025, on Grand Princess; pricing starts at $347 per person.

Princess Cruises: 5-Day Alaska Sampler

If you want to sail with Princess for one extra day, consider booking the five-day sampler cruise sailing round-trip from Vancouver. This early season itinerary aboard Caribbean Princess calls on Sitka and Ketchikan, offering more time ashore to explore these two popular coastal towns along Alaska's Inside Passage. Guests will also have two sea days to enjoy activities and dining experiences on the ship.

How to find the best Alaska cruise deals

Book during wave season.

As previously mentioned, you can take advantage of some of the best deals of the year during wave season. Promotions offered during wave season include lower cruise fares, reduced deposits and onboard credits. You can also find special rates (or free fares) for the third and fourth guests in the same room, making this the perfect time to book a family cruise .

In addition, look for discounts on higher-level staterooms and suites, or even accommodations in exclusive areas of the ship, such as The Haven on Norwegian Cruise Line or The Retreat on Celebrity Cruises. These private spaces offer swanky extras like luxurious accommodations, all-inclusive pricing , butler service, a team of attendants and concierge service, as well as private restaurants, lounges and pools. With lower pricing, wave season may be the best time to splurge on a cruise vacation in one of these upscale enclaves.

Promotional pricing beyond wave season

If you miss booking your cruise during wave season, don't panic. Many lines offer special pricing and flash sales throughout the year and advertise lower fares for voyages during Alaska's shoulder seasons, which fall in May and September.

"You will always find the more affordable Alaska cruises toward the beginning and end of the season. This year, the Alaska cruise season begins in April and continues through October," says Chris Gray Faust, executive editor of Cruise Critic. She adds, "The challenge with shoulder season Alaska cruises is that the weather might not be the best – it can snow in Alaska in April and early May – and in the fall, the nights will be longer (although, there is a chance you might see northern lights )."

In addition to giving up the warmer summer weather (and possibly having snow), you may also miss some optimal wildlife viewing opportunities if you cruise early or late in the season. For example, the peak time for bear-watching excursions extends from mid-June to mid-August, which falls during the height of the Alaska cruise season in July and August.

If you're looking for other ways to save money on your cruise, Gray Faust advises that older ships also provide more value when you're looking for deals.

It's important to note that a few of this year's wave deals extend just until the end of February 2024, so you'll need to refer to the individual cruise line websites to see the exact dates for the special offers. You may also be able to find lower prices on some discount and aggregator sites, like Cruise Critic, Cruises.com and Priceline.

2024 Ice of the Inside Passage

$5,770* per person

Glaciers, one of nature’s most awe-inspiring forces, continue to carve and shape Southeast Alaska. As these magnificent “rivers of ice” flow downhill from their ice field accumulation zones, they splinter and calve (break off at the face). The resulting sound can be described as “white thunder”—a powerful rumble that must be experienced in person to fully appreciate. Dense, newly exposed ice boasts a brilliant blue color that is perfect for photography.

“Ice of the Inside Passage” will afford guests the opportunity to get up close and personal with the Margerie, Grand Pacific, Mendenhall, Sawyer, South Sawyer, Dawes, and LeConte glaciers—our most in-depth glacier offering to date! In addition, there may be opportunities to view the Lamplugh, Reid, Herbert, Eagle, and Sumdum glaciers as we transit the calm waters of the Inside Passage. Included in the itinerary fare is an exciting, high-speed jet boat adventure to the LeConte Glacier, plenty of time for viewing the region’s famous wildlife, kayaking, a call to the remote Alaska Native village of Kasaan, and more!

Explore beautiful Sitka—the only community in Southeast Alaska that faces the open ocean waters of the Gulf of Alaska. Visit sites that highlight the community’s rich culture, history, and biodiversity. Embark for the winding narrows north of town while searching for bald eagles, sea otters, bears, whales, and other wildlife.

Venture into Dundas Bay, within the confines of Glacier Bay National Park’s “Outer Bay.” In this secluded area, you’ll experience remarkable solitude as you paddle a shallow water coastline inaccessible to larger craft.

This remarkable national park fjord extends 65-miles, contains tidewater glaciers, and provides pristine habitat for a wide-array of wildlife, including both brown and black bears, wolves, mountain goats, Steller sea lions, and humpback whales. The highlight for many is Margerie Glacier or John Hopkins Glacier, which have been known for their dramatic calving displays.

Spend the day visiting highlights of the scenic capital city of Juneau. In downtown Juneau, visit the recently renovated Alaska State Museum. There will also be time to explore on your own. You may choose to visit the Juneau-Douglas City Museum, Alaska State Capitol, or take in the spectacular panoramic views of the Mount Roberts Tram. You can also delve deeper into local Native culture and history by exploring fascinating exhibits, art displays, and a clan house at the Walter Soboleff Center. End the day’s adventure with a relaxing evening at Orca Point Lodge, our own exclusive day-lodge on Colt Island. Enjoy the beautiful grounds, beach, and marine life viewing-tank. Dine on Alaska salmon, Alaska crab*, or prime rib from the warmth of the lodge, or nestled next to a beachside bonfire.

*Subject to local processor availability

Journey through Tracy Arm, a place the famous naturalist, John Muir, called, “a wild, unfinished Yosemite.” Renowned for its glaciers, pristine waterfalls, towering icebergs, abundant harbor seals, and granite cliffs that rise from sea level to 4,000 feet, this wilderness is often referred to by locals as one of the most scenic areas in the state.

Enjoy an exciting kayak or skiff expedition in stunning Endicott Arm-a glacial fjord in the Tracy Arm Ford’s Terror Wilderness area. View the impressive Dawes Glacier at the head of the arm. Later, scout for humpback whales and other wildlife in Frederick Sound.

After exploring the charming and historical community of Wrangell, board a comfortable, high-speed jet boat and venture north through Dry Strait to LeConte Bay. En route to the spectacular LeConte Glacier—North America’s southernmost tidewater glacier—you’ll navigate through a maze of glistening icebergs in the shadows of towering, snow-capped mountains.

Walk an enchanted forest path laden with intricately carved totem poles to the Chief Son-i-Hat Whale-House— the only remaining traditional Haida longhouse in the United States. Inside stand four original house posts, or “Gáats,” that were most likely carved at Old Kasaan in about 1880.

Disembark in Ketchikan, otherwise known as Alaska’s “First City’ and “Salmon Capital of the World.” Transfer to your hotel or the airport is complimentary.

Note: Cruise information is subject to change without notice based on navigating conditions. Itinerary order is also subject to rearrangement based on permit allocations. Iglu

Predicting future travel trends is not for the faint-hearted, but the expert team at Iglu Cruise provides their predictions for 2024, based on booking patterns and customer insights. As the leading independent cruise travel agent, Iglu Cruise uniquely has sight of the entire range of cruise holidays available and is constantly listening to the requests of their hundreds of thousands of guests. They work with all major cruise lines to understand what's new and what's in the offing in terms of the cruising experience. The start of 2024 is a key turning point in cruise, with the launch of brand new ships, customer confidence at a high, and many newcomers starting to cruise.

Here are their predictions for 2024:

More growth

Following a record-breaking year in 2023 for cruise sales, Iglu Cruise is forecasting further overall market growth in 2024 of 15%, not least due to new TV series based on board ships, such as Channel 5's Good Ship Murder , and The Cruise: Fun Loving Brits, also on Channel 5. Growth will come from those who are new to the world of cruising; from those returning to cruise after a break during the pandemic, and those who begin to take more cruises each year, given the plethora of new onboard experiences, destinations and themed cruises, giving even more reasons to travel.

Rise in regional departures

2023 saw London Tilbury rise in popularity and begin to challenge Southampton as a convenient  UK departure point. Offering a variety of UK ports for embarkation brings the idea of cruising to the whole of the UK, and offers the most easy and stress-free way to start a holiday. Virgin Voyages will start cruises on board Resilient Lady from Portsmouth, and Ambassador now offer cruises from seven UK ports.

Rise in true all-inclusives

Demand for true all-inclusive sailings  is on the rise, as guests look to be totally sure of their budgets before leaving home. Iglu Cruise notes a particular interest in cruises where no tipping is required, to avoid the uncertainty of how much to tip, to whom and when to do it. Cruise lines offering all inclusive sailings include Marella Cruises; Seabourn and Celebrity Cruises.

Rise in family cruises

As more capacity is added to the cruise market, more family cabins become available. This opens up a world of opportunity for family and multigenerational cruises during school holidays, and outside term time for those with preschoolers. As awareness rises about all there is to do, in age-specific groups, classes and sports, Iglu Cruise only sees the number of families cruising rising. Iglu Cruise promotes MSC who chose Lego as an exclusive entertainment partner, to give all the children who cruise with MSC the chance to play with the best toys in the most fun environment.

Cruise Lines listen to needs of solo travellers who resolve to research single cabins

It's well known that the availability of single cabins for solo cruisers means that you have to book very early or wait until the last minute and not mind too much where you go and when. Iglu Cruise sees cruise lines improving the number of cabins per ship for solos and in particular recommend Norwegian Cruise Line, Fred. Olsen and Royal Caribbean Cruises for those looking for a cabin for sole occupancy.

More themed cruises

2024 will see more themed cruises, which are being announced on a regular basis. Iglu Cruise say guests are really appreciating the rise of themed, more immersive cruises. They see cruise lines becoming more and more creative with experiences available, designing very tempting holidays full of interest and stimulation. Iglu Cruise's top trending options for themed cruises include theatrical performances, workshops and screenings by the Royal Shakespeare Company on board Cunard's Queen Mary 2; Pride cruises in June; stargazing with astronomers on board Fred. Olsen's Balmoral and the chance to hear a talk from the BBC's favourite weather presenter, Carol Kirkwood on board Hurtigruten's MS Maud as she sails around the British Isles.

Rise in new-to-cruise

Social media cruise groups are full of questions from newcomers to the cruise world. Iglu Cruise sees many taking their first cruise around the UK , or to a particular country where it's easy to visit top sights by cruise ship such as Italy, Spain or Croatia. In general, cruise ships welcome those with accessibility needs well, with very high service levels, opening cruising to those who may not want to do battle with steps up to aircraft or long airport corridors.

Cruise and Stay on the rise

Responding to an increased demand for combination holidays , Iglu Cruise has developed a 'spice route' voyage from Mumbai to Sri Lanka and Singapore with an eight-night India's Tigers & Golden Triangle land tour. It means several bucket list items are being ticked off at once. An alternative would be a South Africa Exploration itinerary, including not only a cruise, but a tour of the world-famous Stellenbosch Wine Region and a safari experience.

Polarisation of small versus large ships

As the cruise market continues to mature, Iglu Cruise sees new ships being launched at either end of the spectrum, with smaller ships such as from Explora Journeys and Seabourn , coming into their own, compared with 6000+ passenger ships such as Icon of the Seas from Royal Caribbean Cruises, appealing to a totally different market.

Rise in interest in cruises to cooler climes in hot summers

To avoid very high summer temperatures, guests are voting with their feet and choosing cruises to cooler climes, where they can relax and enjoy the whole day and feel comfortable at night. Good choices are Scandinavia, Scotland, Ireland, Alaska , Canada and New England. Iglu Cruise's recent research showed at uplift in demand for the Arctic in 2023 versus 2022 of 201.3%.

Rise of interest in low-cost 'repositioning cruises'

There are some very attractive great value cruises which spend days at sea followed by island hopping, from Europe to the Caribbean for example, as ships are repositioned for the next season. Prices are very keen on such sailings, and this can be noted as a trend for cruisers to pick out these sailings as a way to cruise at a lower cost.

Cruise Lines listen to the needs of passengers pursuing a healthy lifestyle

As more and more people start to cruise, their individual needs and preferences will be more carefully met. Those looking to keep fit and eat healthily will be able to choose from lighter menus and more tailored facilities. A good example of this is Celebrity Cruises ' Aqua Class staterooms which are usually furnished in lighter colours to accentuate the feeling of a refreshing break. In Aqua Class guests enjoy an overall wellness experience with access to the on board spa areas, a complimentary wellness consultation, and exclusive access to the Blu restaurant with 'cleaner' cuisine. Their Spa Cafe & Juice Bar on the new Celebrity Ascent similarly features freshly prepared smoothies, juices and nutritious treats.

Mills said, ' I predict 2024 will be about more confidence returning to travelling, with people having more of a sense of 'carpe diem' and committing to creative and multi-faceted trips, to create brilliant memories and to have something of interest for each guest travelling. Whilst no-one knows what's around the corner, it's true to say that the demand for cruise is bigger than ever, due to a combination of factors including more choice of cruises; more capacity; higher awareness of this type of holiday; an interest in value-for-money holidays; general confidence in travel and more and more inspiring cruises, meaning it's easy to commit to many cruise holidays in any one year. We are confident about a strong 2024, and are even selling a lot of cruises for 2025. The message is to do your research, lean on an independent agent such as Iglu Cruise for the best deal and unbiased advice, and dream big in the year ahead'.

Join this exceptional Christian Cruise to Alaska with Gaither Homecoming and Bill & Gloria Gaither

A note from bill & gloria gaither.

Dear Friends,

It’s been such a pleasure for me and Gloria to introduce the Homecoming community to Alaska over the last 35 years. Experiencing its towering glaciers and quaint towns while enjoying the music we love makes this legendary location even better. This highly anticipated event is sure to feel like a family reunion...decades in the making.

We hope you’ll join us for this unprecedented time of fellowship in such a spectacular destination.

All your favorite Homecoming artists will be there. You’ll be hearing from them daily and every night, along with featured guests and vocalists from different genres, to blend together seamlessly in unforgettable evenings of musical bliss. You’ll have so much more tradition to appreciate as we praise God together as we always do. This week of laughter and soul-stirring music is not to be missed!

And that’s not the only unique aspect of this cruise. We’ll cruise the scenic splendor of Glacier Bay—where the mossy, spruce-hemlock rainforests are home to brown bears and moose. As always, we look forward to reuniting with you in the outstanding hospitality of our esteemed cruise line, Holland America.

Memories are waiting to be made! We hope to see you in the glory of Alaska.

If you’re already thinking about what to bring, summer in Alaska is beautiful with sunshine and possible showers. Below is a checklist to help you pack for your exceptional travel experience. Remember that your luggage will be delivered to your cabin at an unspecified time on the day of departure, so it’s a good idea to pack a change of clothes, toiletries and any medications you need in a carry-on bag to bring with you.

Packing Checklist

  • Casual clothes including pants, jeans, shorts, T-shirts, collared shirts or blouses
  • Light sweater or jacket
  • Semi-formal clothes or dress clothes for 1-2 evenings, depending on the length of your cruise
  • Bathing suit and a cover-up or wrap
  • Light raincoat or compact umbrella
  • Comfortable walking shoes or sandals with rubber soles
  • Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
  • Toiletries, in a sealed, clear bag inside your luggage
  • Minor First Aid care items such as Band-Aids, aspirin, hand sanitizer, etc.
  • Medications in their original containers
  • Hair care appliances (see information on Using Electronics)
  • Small bag or backpack for port days; large enough to carry your camera and other personal items
  • Passport with separate photocopy

Dining Dress Code

On a typical seven-day cruise, you’ll have two nights of dressing up for dinner or other special events. We suggest a semi-formal dress or skirt and blouse for women and a dark suit for men. The remaining dinners on the cruise are informal—blouse and pants for women; collared shirt with trousers for men. Remember that T-shirts, shorts or tank tops are not permitted in the dining room.

Packing Tips

Make certain your suitcase closes and fastens securely. Mark your luggage and carry-on bag with your name and address so you can distinguish them easily. We also recommend you put identification information—name, address and phone number—INSIDE your luggage in case the luggage tags are lost in transit. We also suggest keeping your essential toiletries and a one-day change of clothes in your carry-on. Do not pack your passport or travel documents in your luggage. It is suggested that you keep a color copy of the information page of your passport inside your luggage if your passport is lost.

We know how nice it is to have the convenience of home when traveling on a cruise. Bringing your electronics and hair appliances can enhance your overall travel experience. Every cruise ship has plugs that accept U.S. and Continental European devices, and you do not need to bring plug adaptors. Here are some things to know about your electronics before you pack them:

Phones, MP3 Players, Laptops, Cameras & Video Cameras

Most small digital devices have chargers that will fit in the plugs on a cruise ship. One thing to be mindful of is the limited plugs in each cabin; you may want to bring a multi-plug extension cord.

Blow Dryers, Curling Irons & Straighteners

Each stateroom has a hair dryer for your personal convenience. If you prefer your hair appliances, you may want to consider purchasing or borrowing compact and travel-friendly appliances.

For more information, please call one of our Reservation Coordinators at 800 247 1899 , Monday through Friday between 8:30am-5:00pm, Pacific Time.

The scenic beauty of Alaska can be enjoyed from onboard the ship and to make the most of your cruise vacation, you can also get out into the local ports. Shore excursions offer something for everyone. Choose from city tours, culinary explorations, shopping outings, cultural activities and more.

Because shore excursions have limited capacity and fill up quickly, we recommend you book early for the best selection on your cruise. Once you’ve booked your Inspiration cruise, check out the customized cruise line excursion list based on your itinerary. Using your cruise booking number, you can easily book shore excursions online as early as 60 days before your trip and up to 3 days before departure, depending on the cruise line.

Visit the cruise line’s website to find information on specific excursions:

You may also register for your Shore Excursions once onboard the ship. All shore excursion requests are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Waitlisted requests for sold-out shore excursions will be processed before requests made onboard.

For more information please call one of our Reservation Coordinators at 800 247 1899 , Monday through Friday between 8:30am-5:00pm, Pacific Time.

We want to help make your trip as smooth and as enjoyable as possible. We can book motorcoach transfers for you from the airport to your cruise departure port and on your return trip.

Hotel Stays

Remember that you always have the option of arriving earlier or staying later. For example, hotel reservations may be available if you want to arrive a few days early before boarding your cruise or stay a few days after the cruise returns.

As you plan for your upcoming Christian cruise with Inspiration, you may wonder about using money and credit cards during your travels. We’ve made the following recommendations to help you save money, avoid unnecessary fees and focus on an exceptional travel experience.

  • Consider leaving all unnecessary credit cards at home.
  • Once you determine which cards you’ll bring, remember to notify each credit card company of your intended travel dates and locations to ensure fraud alerts and holds are not placed on your accounts.
  • For each card, you’ll want to store the bank’s contact information in a separate, secure location in the unlikely event your wallet or purse is lost or stolen.

Almost all businesses in Victoria or Vancouver, Canada accept U.S. credit or debit cards. If you plan to use your credit cards, you’ll want to check with each credit card company to determine the international exchange fee for each card. Because the difference of a few percentage points could cost you more (depending on your purchases), we recommend using cards with lower international exchange fees. Using your credit card for large purchases gives you more protection for the items you buy on your trip. You can review your credit card statement to verify all of your purchases.

The Canadian Dollar (C$) is the official currency when your cruise stops in Canada, however U.S. dollars are widely accepted. When paying in U.S. dollars expect change in Canadian Dollars so bring small bills. If traveling with currency other than the U.S. dollar you may exchange money onboard the ship, although we always recommend checking the exchange rate before traveling to a foreign country.

Today’s technology allows you to stay connected while traveling—ensuring you get that memorable photo or message from your loved ones. On most ships, you should be able to use your cell phone or smartphone to do everything you’re used to doing at home. In addition, mobile phones provide convenient access for emergencies and confirming travel plans. Some basic guidelines and tips will help you save money, keep your phone working effectively and stay in touch.

Before you leave

Spending some time contacting your cell phone carrier before your trip will help ensure you can call friends and family back home and eliminate any surprises on your phone bill when you return. Let your phone carrier know your travel plans, including how you plan to use your phone on your cruise. You’ll want to make sure you understand all of the potential charges. Contact your carrier for specific information.

Check with your carrier for international dialing access

You will want to make sure international and cruise package dialing is active on your mobile phone plan so that you can use it in the Canadian ports and remember that international and maritime roaming rates will apply to calls placed onboard the ship (charges will appear on your phone bill). Because roaming rates can be high on cruises, checking with your carrier for specific cost details before you leave is a good idea.

Aboard your flight and cruise

Your cell phone’s battery life is the key to keeping you connected. Below are some tips for staying powered up on your trip:

  • Remember to set your phone to Airplane Mode when you board your flight. You can also do this aboard the cruise when sailing to avoid roaming charges unless you have the cruise ship package with your carrier. This suspends all calling and texting functions but still allows you to play games, use your camera and listen to music, etc.
  • On the cruise, you’ll want to charge your phone every night to ensure enough battery life for the next day.
  • Try to turn off your phone when you’re not using it. Leaving your phone on all day drains the battery, so it’s a good idea to turn it off while you’re on a shore excursion, eating or reading.

Smartphone tips

As one of the most popular communication devices today, smartphones have revolutionized how we connect and the world. We know leaving your smartphone behind for an hour, much less multiple days is difficult. The following tips will help you save your phone’s battery life and get the most out of your smartphone while on the cruise:

  • Before your cruise, you’ll want to disable any applications that give you regular updates, such as sports reports and weather updates.
  • Disable the Data Enabled or Data Roaming option on your phone and keep it off until you reach your destination. Turn off the function for “Automatic” checking of emails and change the email settings to “Manual” to reduce data roaming charges. During your trip, you can check for email messages when connected to a free, wireless Internet connection, such as in a hotel lobby or Internet cafe while in port.

In-room phones and phone cards

If you choose to not bring your mobile phone, you can stay in touch with others while on your cruise using the in-room phones. Please make sure you understand all of the charges associated with this before you place your call, as the rates can be expensive.

An Alaskan cruise vacation allows you to explore multiple locations without the hassle of checking in and out of hotels, packing and unpacking, and spending valuable time trying to find quality restaurants–all with excellent service dedicated to enhancing your exceptional travel experience.

Each cruise line makes rewarding the excellent service you’ll receive onboard easy. A gratuity of $16-$19 per day (depending on the cruise line and cabin category), per guest for dining and stateroom services will be automatically added daily to your shipboard account. The cruise line also will automatically add an 18% service charge to beverages purchased through your onboard account. Before the end of the cruise, the Cruise Director will address more specific questions regarding tipping procedures.

If you take a taxi to the pier, it’s common to simply round up to the next dollar when paying your tab. The cab drivers appreciate this, and it is considered part of their income. When you arrive at the ship on embarkation day, we suggest tipping the porters at the pier $1.25 per bag when they take your luggage to place it on the ship. When visiting restaurants off the ship and during shore excursions, a 15-20% tip for restaurant service workers is appreciated.

With its richly dense rainforests and towering glaciers, Alaska is a place unlike any other— anywhere you look is a stunning site. We recommend whale watching; Juneau is home to the majestic humpback whales. Iglu Cruise reveals top 2024 trends

  • Sheena Adesilu
  • December 14, 2023

iglu cruises alaska 2024

Cruise and Stay holidays – what are they? A hybrid getaway, these package escapes see travellers enjoy the magic of cruising as well as the pleasure of extending their stay on land, before or/and after their break.

It’s easy to wish you had more time in your departure port, but it can be tricky when the focus of the day is to embark your ship. However, if you book a Cruise and Stay holiday you can arrive several days in advance of the sailing, live the high life in a pre-arranged hotel and explore the city to the max. Alternatively, tack on a getaway after your voyage; you could even take a land tour too and head out into the countryside. In short, stay and cruise holidays are the best of both worlds!

Cruise specialists, Iglu Cruise , offer a raft of tailor-made Cruise and Stay holidays 2024 and beyond, ensuring holidaymakers get their fix of turf and surf. A key benefit of booking a cruise package with a travel agent like Iglu is that not only is the hard work done for you, from flights to accommodation, but it can also work out at great value for money.

With Cruise and Stay deals, plus special promotions, you can enjoy significant savings compared to planning individual components of your trip. Take advantage of early booking discounts, onboard credits, exclusive perks and more to make the most of your holiday budget.

When booking a cruise the client and agent must have patience and definitely a sense of humour. Ian had both, and we appreciate that maybe his patience could have deserted him but hats off to him as he guided us through to the end

Iglu Cruise booking process.

Informative, knowledgeable and friendly. Offered an alternative cruise that better met our needs. Easy to book and plenty of information provided prior to booking. It's good to have a name point of contact.

Excellent booking experience

Victoria made the whole booking process very easy ( for us at least! ) She had to work a lot harder due to the changes I needed to keep making. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She had so much knowledge to share about the various destinations and gave us plenty of good advice. A real asset to the company. Will definitely stick to Iglu for future bookings.

Catering to your needs.

Having always wanted to see the Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, Terracotta Warriors & ride the Bullet Train, imagine our utter delight to find all these amazing things included in a Land tour of China plus a cruise on the Iglu website. We called and spoke to Paul, who went above and beyond to help us book this holiday of a life time as all our questions were answered and all queries checked. I would definitely recommend.

Simple process in obtaining an initial quote. We were able to add some variables allowing us to make an informed decision. This was always at our pace without any sales pressure from Leanne.

Phoned up for a quick get away, could not have asked for better service. Had everything done in half hour, super telephone manner, very helpful with my request. All done and looking forward to my 2weeks holiday.

Brilliant service as usual

Dealing with Adam at Iglu was easy and straightforward. We wanted to change the detail of the package and he sorted out our requirements quickly and talked us through all our options. He was knowledgeable and helpful throughout. We’ve booked with Iglu a number of times and they have always been superb.

Choose IGLU FIRST

This is the second time we have booked our cruise with Iglu. Lauren was very professional and polite and answered all the questions I had asked. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this wonderful cruise company and it’s not No.1 for no reason. I did try other companies, but their website wasn’t as good, so don’t waste your time people using anyone else. When thinking about cruising go for IGLU FIRST. 👏👏🛳️

Really straightforward to book my cruise. Everything was explained in detail with confirmation email received very quickly. Sam was very friendly and professional - would definitely book with Iglu again.

I spent wasted time with a less than knowledgeable agent

I spent some time with the agent booking a separate cabin for my sister who is unable to walk far without wheelchair assistance. The agent told me he had booked one next to the lift lobby . When we boarded the ship we discovered she was about as far from the lift as possible!. We checked on the onboard deck plans to find that the lift he had promised us was a crew only service lift. Several other bits of incorrect info about our package certain ly hasn't impressed.

Date of experience : 27 October 2023

David was great.

David was great and gave us all the info we needed and made several suggestions. I didn't want to book immediately until I'd done some more research so he passed our details to a colleague to follow up the next day as it was his day off. Colleague phoned as promised and booking was made including some additions.

Iglu's 100+ inhouse agents have cruised to thousands of ports, and tested out most ships currently sailing. Why not call to ask for some tips?
  • Most Iglu cruise packages cover all your meals, even if 'full board' isn't expressly stated on the website - be sure to keep this in mind when shopping around.
  • As a completely independent agent, Iglu isn't financially connected with any cruise line. It means any advice you receive isn't skewed to a certain operator - just the best tips, tailored to you.

As the UK's largest independent cruise agent, Iglu offers deals to more than 3000 ports, 30 destinations and 25 cruise lines. From a blissful Caribbean break to an exotic exploration of South East Asia, it's all there for the taking. The Iglu offices are home to 100 dedicated inhouse agents. Between them, they've cruised to thousands of ports around the globe on almost every cruise ship sailing. It means their expertise is top-drawer - exactly what you need when you're booking that dream holiday. Iglu Cruise is a completely independent cruise agent, not connected with any cruise line or operator. This allows its 100+ sales agents to be totally impartial when advising on cruise options - good to know! The best bit? Any holiday you book with Iglu comes completely ATOL- and ABTA-protected, and the Iglu team will be around to assist you with your trip from the moment you book to the moment you get back to home soil.
