We have news of Giga Berlin announcing a factory tour on October 9th, 2021. This is great news and it likely means that soon after that, Giga Berlin will start producing vehicles. Here is the official announcement:

"Tesla opens the doors of its Gigafactory in Grünheide on October 9, 2021 and invites citizens of Berlin and Brandenburg to a County Fair. Join us to experience the most advanced electric vehicle production plant in the world. You’ll have the opportunity to see behind the scenes during a Factory Tour, visit on-site booths, join various activities and ride along in Model Y—our newest electric car to arrive in Europe. Local food trucks will provide catering during the event."

More details can be found at the special website for registration here at Giga Fest .

What To Expect at the Grand Tour

The county fair is open to residents of Brandenburg and Berlin only. It will start at 10:00 AM and end at 7:00 PM on October 9th, 2021. Only those who are age 16 and older can come without a parent or guardian. a 3G card can be presented to enter the event if you are not vaccinated. More questions are answered at the giga fest website.

Beyond this, I expect that we will see how Tesla has organized Giga Berlin with equipment and processes. I am most looking forward to pictures of the Giga Press and their paint shop! I'm also looking forward to details about the Model Y being produced at Giga Berlin. What kind of batteries will it use? What range will the standard and long range versions get? Is there anything new in the interior? I expect to see videos and pictures of test drives of the Germany Model Y.

It looks like tickets are going to be very limited, so I expect that we'll have to wait for someone to attend the event and take pictures and report on what they see. I'll be watching very closely for this.

What do you think of the grand opening of Giga Berlin? Are we going to see anything different from the Model Y in Germany?

After an eight-month delay, Tesla finally opened the new Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg last month. Now you can take a tour inside—virtually anyway.

The marque has just released a video of the the monolithic German plant via a new FPV drone. As the acronym suggests, the FPV drone provides a unique, first-person view of Elon Musk’s $5 billion factory and the EV manufacturing that occurs within.

Piloted by Ferdinand Wolf of Skynamic, the drone starts off outside showcasing hundreds of finished Model Ys, before entering the Gigafactory to demonstrate how the car is made. Throughout the three-minute clip, viewers will witness the massive machinery in action as hoods, doors and other parts come to fruition. The tour concludes with a shot of a long line of completed Model Ys. (To recap, the fully electric, mid-size SUV promises a range of 320 miles and will set you back around $60,000.)

The first European hub for the firm opened officially on March 22, with the first 30 Model Ys rolling off the line the same day. The Gigafactory, which is expected to employ some 12,000 workers, will eventually churn out 500,000 Model Ys each year. It will also produce millions of batteries annually at a rate that exceeds all other plants in Germany , according to the automaker.

Closer to home, Musk held a “Cyber Rodeo” on Thursday to mark the official start of production at Tesla’s new Giga Texas plant in Austin. The Tesla CEO says this will be the country’s biggest factory by size and will also be the highest-volume US auto plant when fully ramped up.

According to Musk, Giga Texas, which marks Tesla’s fourth assembly plant, will produce at least 500,000 vehicles annually from 2023. The factory will initially focus on the Model Y, before commencing production on the long-awaited Cybertruck next year. A new version of the Roadster sports car  and the Tesla Semi is also in the pipeline.

There’s no tour of Giga Texas yet, but you can check out the Cyber Rodeo in full below:

  • During his visit to the site this week, he said car production should kick off there in October.

Elon Musk on Friday invited residents and the general public to a tour of Tesla's new Gigafactory outside of Berlin, Germany.

"Giga Berlin-Brandenburg county fair & factory tour on 9 October!" the Tesla CEO tweeted .

Tesla didn't immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

The billionaire announced the Gigafactory tour on the same day that he met with German leaders and visited the site in Gruenheide, east of Berlin.

During his trip, he said he hopes Tesla will start producing cars at the factory in October, according to a Reuters  report.

"We're looking forward to hopefully getting the approval to make the first cars, maybe in October if we are fortunate," Musk said, per Reuters.

Tesla is still waiting for the green light from Brandenburg's environmental authorities to open the site, Insider's Hannah Towey reported on Friday.

The Gigafactory was supposed to open on July 1  but environmental activists , permit delays , and lizards on the site put its opening date behind schedule.

Since Tesla started building the factory in early 2020, Grüne Liga, a local environmental group, has argued that the site could threaten the area's drinking water .

"This region has so much water, look around you," Musk said on his visit to the factory on Friday, per Reuters. "It's like water everywhere here. Does this seem like a desert to you?" he said.

Experience the Tesla Giga Berlin Tour in this nearly 1-hour long video

Model Y body

The Tesla Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg County Fair was a huge hit yesterday, showcasing the company’s latest technology when it comes to vehicle manufacturing.

In the days and weeks leading up to the event, we knew Tesla was going to be holding tours of the massive factory. It was unclear however how much the company was going to show off.

As it turns out, it was a lot.

The several thousand lucky fans that were able to attend got an up-close look at the Model Y structural battery pack with 4680 cells , several Giga Press machines in action, a demonstration of the new matrix-LED adaptive headlights that will be on the made-in-Germany Model Y, and much much more.

There was so much to see it actually took close to one hour to complete the tour. And that was just a small section of the factory.

Fortunately for those of us who were not in attendance, a video of the entire tour has been posted to YouTube.

When you have some spare time, you can walk along the Giga Berlin tour with the video below.

Tesla Factory Tours & Parties

Tesla now has three Gigafactories around the world. There is one running in America in Nevada, California and Buffalo, New York, as well as one in Shanghai, China. On top of that, Tesla has it’s first factory in Freemont, California, which is not a “Giga” per se, but still one of their most important factories!

The newer two Gigafactories are in Austin, Texas, and Berlin, Germany. Both of which are due to open in the first half of 2022.

One of the questions most people have about Tesla’s Gigafactories is – Can I get a tour of a Tesla factory?

Unfortunately, Tesla does not provide regular factory tours at any of their Gigafactories. However, under exceptional circumstances, people have gotten in to tour their factories.

Table of Contents

Giga Berlin Factory Tour & Party

The most recent example was at Giga Berlin, on the 9th October 2021 where Tesla threw a huge festival and party, and provided tours at the not yet complete Gigafactory.

They revealed a lot of new technology during the factory tour including 4680 cells and structural packs, Giga castings, new LED lights and much more. It was a rare chance for Berlin locals to get a look at the electric revolution that Tesla is currently leading!

Giga Texas Factory Tour & Party

Likewise, Elon Musk has stated that a Giga Texas Grand Opening Party along with factory tours, is also on the cards. And many believe it is slated for either March or April 2022.

Keep your eye out if you live in the area as tickets tend to go insanely fast!

Tesla Fremont Factory

Most Tesla factory tours have happened in their Freemont factory, however, it is still not something you can book easily.

Usually, it is some Youtube celebrity accompanied by Elon Musk or a major media outlet that gets the factory tour, but you never know your luck. If you live close by and purchase a Tesla, be sure to ask the delivery center and maybe you can find a way inside!

Here is Marques Brownlee touring the Tesla Freemont factory with Elon.

Giga Nevada Factory Tour

Again, Tesla rarely lets anyone take a factory tour at Giga Nevada, but some media outlets have managed to get inside. Of course, Tesla has to keep a lot of their technology secret, and a factory floor is not the safest place in the world, so it is kind of understandable.

Here is a video of a Giga Nevada tour that CNBC managed to get.

Giga New York Factory Tour

The long-forgotten New York Giga Factory 2 in Buffalo is also important to Tesla, producing solar roof tiles and other automotive parts for the company. Again, it is almost impossible to get in, but here is a video we found showing a lot of the factory operations.

BERLIN (AP) — Electric car manufacturer Tesla opened its first European factory Tuesday on the outskirts of Berlin in an effort to challenge German automakers on their home turf.

The company says its new “Gigafactory” will employ 12,000 people and produce 500,000 vehicles a year once it’s fully up and running. Initial production will focus on Tesla’s Model Y compact sport utility vehicle.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz attended the opening ceremony in Gruenheide, southeast of the German capital, with Tesla boss Elon Musk, who performed an impromptu dance for fans as the first cars rolled out of the factory for delivery.

He later posted a comment on Twitter thanking Germany with the words “Danke Deutschland!” surrounded by German flags.

German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said the opening of the factory was “a nice symbol” that gasoline-powered cars can be replaced with electric vehicles at a time when Germany and other European nations are trying to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and wean themselves off Russian oil .

Tesla began building the vast facility less than three years ago, before it received official permits to do so. Had those permits not been issued, the company would have had to level the site.

“That’s a different company risk culture,” Habeck said, after being asked to compare Tesla’s approach with the slow pace of German construction projects such as Berlin’s nearby new airport, which opened with a nine-year delay .

Environmental activists have warned that the factory could affect drinking water supplies in the region.

Tesla has dismissed those warnings. The company refused most media access to the site and the ceremony Tuesday.

Tesla Giga Berlin Plans to Offer Factory Tours

Tesla Giga Berlin Plans to Offer Factory Tours

Image: Lee Hsien Loong

Tesla Giga Berlin is looking for a Content and Programs Associate. Among other things, the main activity of the person in this position will be to conduct tours of the factory, which indicates an interesting expansion of the company's interactions with the public. Tesla Giga Berlin plans to offer factory tours, according to a job description that recently appeared on the manufacturer's website. Earlier this week, u/allhands/Reddit (via Drive Tesla ) discovered that Tesla's European factory was looking for a Content and Programs Associate. The job description states that the person in this role “will primarily focus on factory tours, interact with various stakeholders within and outside the company, and assist the work of the Content and Programs Team on site in Berlin.” The Content and Programs Associate will be at the forefront of delivering engaging and informative factory tours. The company explained that this includes, but is not limited to, leading tours, presenting compelling content to a broad audience, planning and executing events, and interacting with various stakeholders, both public and internal. In addition, the person in this role will support the Content and Programs team in raising awareness for Tesla’s products and mission and engage with customers, prospects, fans, and other stakeholders.

“This role will primarily focus on factory tours, interact with various stakeholders within and outside the company, and assist the work of the Content and Programs Team on site in Berlin. The Content and Programs Associate will be at the forefront of enabling engaging and informative factory tour experiences at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. This includes but is not limited to leading tours, presenting compelling content to a broad audience, planning and executing events, and interacting with various stakeholders, both public and internal. This is a hands-on position that encompasses all aspects of a people facing role, with a particular affinity for storytelling and presentation.”

This is a full-time position. However, the specifics of the role will require that the person in this role be flexible, as activities can sometimes take place outside of working hours. At the moment, none of the Tesla factories offers tours. However, the Fremont factory used to run daily tours. It would be great if the manufacturer revived the tradition, expanded it and started offering tours at all of its factories. Tesla's advances in factory building and manufacturing technology are unique in the industry, so seeing how the company's cutting-edge products are made would be a wonderful experience.

Tesla’s latest way to get shareholders to vote: factory tour with Elon and Franz

Avatar for Fred Lambert

Tesla has come up with yet another program to encourage shareholders to vote in the upcoming shareholders meeting with a way to win a factory tour with Elon Musk and Franz von Holzhausen.

Tesla shareholders have been voting on several new proposals put forward by the board over the last few weeks and heading to the annual shareholder meeting on June 13.

The two main proposals that the board is trying to get through are a new vote on Musk’s 2018 CEO compensation package and moving Tesla’s state of incorporation to Texas.

The two are closely related as Tesla’s board and Musk have blamed the fact that they lost a lawsuit invalidating the 2018 compensation package on the fact that the lawsuit happened in Delware, where Tesla is incorporated.

Tesla incorporated in Delaware, like many other American companies, because the states has laws extremely favorable to corporations. However, Musk believes, without any evidence, that the judge’s decision was politically motivated and believes that Tesla would have better luck in Texas.

And Tesla will need better luck because the new shareholder’s vote on the compensation package doesn’t automatically invalidate the judge’s decision to rescind the package and more legal challenges are expected. Tesla’s own lawyers admit it’s basically a poll.

Regardless, Tesla has been pushing hard for shareholders to revote in favor the package and the move to Texas.

As we previously reported,  the company’s board launched a website  and even started  buying ads to push the vote in that direction .

The shareholder battle is starting to heat up. We recently reported on  a major pension fund that has announced that it will vote against it  and encouraged other shareholders to do the same.

Yesterday, we reported Glass Lewis going against the board’s recommendation .

Now, Tesla has come up with another way to encourage shareholders to vote. The company is raffling a Gigafactory Texas tour with CEO Elon Musk and Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen:

Win a tour of the Tesla Gigafactory with Elon Musk and Franz von Holzhausen in Austin, Texas! Tour the Cybertruck and Model Y manufacturing lines with Elon Musk and other Tesla executives with a private group of stockholders on June 12th, the day before the Annual Stockholders’ Meeting. You will also have a  reserved seat at the Annual Stockholders’ Meeting on June 13th.

However, unlike previous efforts, like the ads that Tesla bought, this time, it’s not to vote any specific way, but shareholders have to prove that they voted their shares:

You should only submit proof that you voted, not how you voted. You do not need to vote for or against any proposals to be eligible for entry. You are eligible to vote and to enter the drawing, only if you were a stockholder of record or a beneficial owner at the close of business on April 15, 2024.

Top comment by Doug T

Vote for Elons package and lower your share value 9%, because the $75 billion (and more coming) he's already made off of Tesla isn't enough.

Pretty good for a part time employee who hadn't made a good decision in 6 years

But it would make for a pretty awkward factory tour if someone who voted against wins.

Electrek’s Take

This is for the Texas vote. Tesla needs a very high turnout to get 50% of all outstanding shares.

If they don’t win that vote, the new compensation package vote will be even more useless. It’s already basically a poll and the inevitable legal challenges will be even tougher if they can’t move to Texas, which itself might be legally challenged.

In short, Tesla’s governance issues have led to a giant legal mess for the company and its shareholders.

Tesla dangles chance at a factory tour with Elon Musk to get shareholder votes on $55 billion pay

gigafactory tour berlin

  • Tesla is offering a potential Gigafactory tour with Elon Musk to shareholders who vote in its annual meeting.
  • 15 investors will be chosen at random for the tour, Tesla said.
  • The vote will address proposals regarding Musk's pay plan and moving Tesla's incorporation to Texas.

Tesla is offering shareholders the opportunity to tour its Texas Gigafactory alongside Elon Musk and the designer of the Cybertruck Franz von Holzhausen — there's just one catch.

To qualify for a possible invite to the tour, investors must cast their vote on Musk's pay package .

Tesla announced the tour promotion on Tuesday. The company will select 15 shareholders at random for the event, which will take place the day before the annual shareholder meeting on June 12 and will include a tour of the Cybertruck and Model Y production lines at the Gigafactory.

To enter into the raffle, Tesla investors must submit proof that they've held a stake in the company as of April 15, as well as show evidence that they voted on the proposals for the upcoming meeting. The deadline to apply for the opportunity is June 7.

"You should only submit proof that you voted, not how you voted," according to Tesla's website . "You do not need to vote for or against any proposals to be eligible for entry."

Ahead of the annual meeting for investors, shareholders will be asked to vote on a number of proposals, including a proposal to reinstate Musk's pay package, which was struck down by a Delaware judge earlier this year. The company is also asking investors to vote on a proposal to move the company's state of incorporation from Delaware to Texas, and a separate proposal to reelect Tesla board members Kimbal Musk and James Murdoch.

Over the past few weeks, Tesla has pulled out all the stops to encourage investors to vote for the proposals, particularly Musk's pay package, which was valued at around $55 billion before it was voided in January. The company has argued the compensation plan is "critical to the future success of Tesla" and has even paid for a handful of advertisements promoting the pay plan.

Meanwhile, some investors have urged others to vote against the proposals. On May 21, a group of shareholders filed a letter with the Securities and Exchange Commission calling for investors to vote against both Musk's pay package and the proposal to reelect Murdoch and Kimbal Musk. Separately, proxy advisory firm Glass Lewis said in a report on Saturday that the pay plan was "excessive" and presented investors with "uncertain benefits and additional risk."

Tesla's Vote on Musk's Pay, Gigafactory Tour Offered

  • Tesla proposes vote on Musk's multibillion-dollar pay package
  • Proxy advisor recommends reinstating Musk's substantial pay
  • Vote expected to pass, resolving long-standing issue

Tesla has proposed a vote on CEO Elon Musk's multibillion-dollar pay package. Shareholders have been offered the opportunity to win a tour of the Gigafactory in Austin with Musk. To be eligible, shareholders are required to submit proof of voting by June 7. Tesla plans to select 15 winners from this pool. The company is particularly targeting individual investors who hold a significant portion of shares for this vote.

A proxy advisor has recommended that shareholders vote in favor of reinstating Musk's substantial pay package. This recommendation is based on the importance of Musk's leadership for Tesla's continued growth and innovation. The vote is anticipated to be close. However, it is expected to pass, potentially resolving a long-standing issue for Tesla shareholders.

BERLIN (AP) — German tour operator FTI said Monday that it is filing for insolvency protection from creditors, and trips that haven’t yet started will be canceled or scaled back.

FTI Group, which describes itself as Europe’s third-biggest tour operator, said parent company FTI Touristik GmbH, was filing an application for the opening of insolvency proceedings at a Munich court.

Since an announcement in April that a consortium of investors would come on board, “booking figures have fallen well short of expectations despite the positive news,” the company said in a statement.

“In addition, numerous suppliers have insisted on advance payment,” it added. “As a result, there was an increased need for liquidity, which could no longer be bridged until the closing of the investor process,” making the insolvency filing a legal necessity.

The operator said it is working to ensure that trips that have already started can be completed as planned, but “trips that have not yet begun will probably no longer be possible or only partially possible from Tuesday.”

A support website and hotline were set up for customers affected.

The Munich-based FTI Group has over 11,000 employees.
