Earlier today, Coldplay announced two concerts in Ireland next summer as part of their ongoing world tour.

The band will play Croke Park on August 29th and 30th next year as part of their Music of the Spheres Tour.

The other locations included on the tour include the likes of Athens, Budapest, Lyon and Vienna.

When do tickets go on sale?

Presale tickets will go on sale at 10am on Tuesday, July 25th, followed by the general sale at 10am on Friday, July 28th.

You can sign up for artist presale through the band’s official website here .

When was the last time Coldplay played in Ireland?

The last time the band played in Ireland was back in 2017 when they also played in Croke Park.

By all accounts it was a great show with one wheelchair user even being crowd-surfed to the stage to play harmonica.

However, there was a sour note when the band moved to the smaller stage for a more intimate performance and guitarist Jonny Buckland was hit with a bottle of beer which had been thrown from the crowd.

How successful was their last tour?

Coldplay's A Head Full of Dreams Tour started on March 31st, 2016, and finished up on November 15th, 2017, with a pair of gigs in La Plata, Argentina.

The band played a total of 122 shows overall on the tour and grossed $523 million, making it the ninth highest grossing tour of all time.

How much does it cost to stay in Dublin on those dates?

A quick search of Hotels.com shows there are rooms available for two people on August 29th from around €150 to €200.

On August 30th there are similar prices for hotels in Dublin city centre, ranging from €150 to €225.

Coldplay have announced 2023 dates on their world tour in support of Music of the Spheres . Next year, the band will perform in Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands. Find Coldplay’s schedule and a trailer for the tour below.

Coldplay famously declined to tour in support of Everyday Life for environmental reasons. The band has set out to make the Music of the Spheres World Tour more sustainable, with a press releasing touting concerts powered entirely by renewable energy. There will be no presale for the new dates.

What have Coldplay said about the Music of the Spheres tour?

Ahead of the COP26 summit last year, Coldplay stated that they wished for the Music of the Spheres tour to be one of the greenest in history as they pushed to make their event more environmentally friendly.

The band told social media platform Twitter at the time: “We’ve been planning this tour for years, and we’re super excited to play songs from across our whole time together.

“At the same time, we’re very conscious that the planet is facing a climate crisis.

“So we’ve spent the last two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible, and, just as importantly, to harness the tour’s potential to push things forward.

“We won’t get everything right, but we’re committed to doing everything we can and sharing what we learn."

They added: “It’s a work in progress and we’re really grateful for the help we’ve had so far.

"If you’d like to come to a show and sing with us, we’re so excited to see you.”

As well as the "show battery", which has been supplied by BMW to run the show via renewable energy, there are many other ways during the concert where fans can get involved to make the event more sustainable.

At the concerts, there are kinetic floors placed in certain locations so that fans' movements can be converted into energy, and there are also electricity-generating pedal bikes so fans can actively charge the show's batteries.

These sustainable alternatives will replace the usual diesel and petrol generators, which will reduce the carbon footprint of the tour.

The tour has also received rave reviews from fans and critics alike, picking up accolades including Favorite Touring Artist at the 2022 AMAs and Tour of The Year at the 2023 iHeartRadio Awards.

Last month, a report by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology revealed that Coldplay’s current tour has so far produced 47% less CO2e emissions than their previous stadium tour in 2016/17 (on a show-by-show comparison), and that 5 million trees have already been planted around the world (one for each concert goer so far).

They are restricted to a maximum of two tickets per purchaser, and must be bought in pairs (which will be located next to each other).

Fans could see Coldplay for just €20 at Croke Park next summer

coldplay tour ireland 2023

After the stress of attempting to secure Taylor Swift tickets , you'd be forgiven for wanting to swear off concerts for a while but if anyone could get us back in a virtual queue, it'd be Coldplay.

Following much speculation, Coldplay have finally unveilled plans for a third run of European tour dates which are scheduled for June, July, and August 2024.

The upcoming tour includes four shows at Croke Park in Dublin on Thursday, August 29, and Friday, August 30, 2024, as well as Saturday, September 1, and Sunday September 2, pending approval.

Presale for the Irish tickets started on Tuesday 25 July with those fans hoping to nab entry having to sign up for access on the band's website . This has now closed but what about those mysterious Infinity tickets?

Chris Martin of Coldplay performs as part of their 'Music of the Spheres World Tour' at Olympic Stadium in Barcelona

What are the Infinity tickets?

Infinity tickets are just as magical as they sound. They are a lower-priced ticket which Coldplay have made for their world tour but they do require you to put a lot of trust in the universe.

The tickets cost just €20 each, are released in pairs, and only become available a few months before the concert happens.

This means that you have to trust that you’ll be lucky and be able to get them pretty close to the concert date instead of buying tickets when they go on sale a year before the show - but you could save lots of money.

If you do manage to nab Infinity tickets you won’t know where you’ll be watching the show from until you arrive at the stadium - talk about taking a chance!

Fans cheer as Coldplay performs at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark as part of the Music of the Spheres World Tour

MCD confirmed that a 'limited number of Infinity Tickets' will be made available for the shows at a later date.

So, if you're happy chancing your luck and holding off on buying tickets - or aren't lucky in the general sale - these could be a good option to still get into the concert next August.

When are tickets on sale?

Chris Martin and Coldplay in concert at Ullevi Arena, Gothenburg, Sweden

Presale tickets - which fans had to register to have access to - went on sale on Tuesday 25 July 2023.

The tickets were available from 9am local time in Athens, Bucharest, Budapest, Lyon, Rome, and Helsinki and at 10am local time in Dusseldorf, Munich, Vienna, and Dublin.

The general sale for all cities will commence at 10am local time on Friday, July 28.

Where else is the band going on tour?

coldplay tour ireland 2023

This new series of concerts will mark Coldplay's debut performances in Greece, Romania, and Finland. Additionally, the band will return to Rome for the first time since 2003 and visit Budapest for the first time since 2008.

The Music Of The Spheres World Tour, which started in March 2022, has been a massive success, with Coldplay selling over 7.5million tickets, making it the most popular tour in the past two years.

The tour has garnered praise from both fans and critics, earning the band accolades such as Favorite Touring Artist at the 2022 AMAs and Tour of The Year at the 2023 iHeartRadio Awards.

Coldplay drop strong hint that Dublin date is coming as Irish fans go wild

coldplay tour ireland 2023

Speculation is rife that Coldplay will be announcing a Dublin gig, with the global sensations hinting at an Irish date during their recent world tour.

Irish Coldplay fans were left heartbroken amid earlier tour announcements, with Dublin seemingly snubbed due to insurance costs.

Story continues below.

Now eagle-eyed fans have spotted the hashtag ‘#ColdplayDublin’ popping up on screens at their shows, building hype that an Irish date could be on the cards.

Twitter user Rory McEvoy shared a video from the band’s Amsterdam gig, showing off the leading hashtags.

‘Further hints on Coldplay coming to Dublin… this visible at their Amsterdam gig!’ he wrote, with fans of the band eager to see them play at Croke Park.

‘Rory it was quite literally the best gig I was ever at by a mile and I’ve gone to some big gigs in my time,’ one fan wrote.

‘My heart literally started racing when I saw this. Saw them in Manchester and have been to the cinema concert screenings. I’ve no shame in saying I cry my eyes out to ‘Fix You’. They are PHENOMENAL live, a true “living your best life” experience,’ a second shared.

The Viva La Vida singers last played in Ireland in 2017, selling out Croke Park almost instantly.

Coldplay are currently playing four nights in the Dutch capital city before embarking on their North American tour.

Recent tour reviews

I had always heard Coldplay were a fantastic band to see live. They did not disappoint last night at Fedex Field, right in the midst of their joyous and decidedly over-the-top Head Full of Dreams tour.

The show began with an explosion of color and light (including the LED wristbands supplied to every concertgoer) in the titular track on the band's touring album. Then came fan-favorite "Yellow," followed by "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall," the ever-popular "The Scientist," and "Birds" (the latter was a bit of a personal disappointment as it replaced the brilliant "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" from recent setlists). This part of the show finished with the anthem "Paradise," featuring an incredible remix outro.

Next the show slowed down for an intimate trio of songs (most of us actually took a seat). This included one of the better tracks from the sub-par "Ghost Stories", "Magic."

Soon, however, things picked up with the timeless piano strokes of "Clocks," themed to a magical red light show. Next came the lighthearted "Charlie Brown." Before it began, lead singer Chris Martin asked everyone to put away their phones and simply enjoy the show. This was followed by the radio hit "Hymn for the Weekend," a candlelit (okay...Iphone flashlight lit) "Fix You," and "Viva la Vida." This last one was remarkable, as nearly the entire stadium knew the lyrics and sang along to the triumphant "Oh-oh-ohhhh" chant. The groovy "Adventure of a Lifetime" finished off this section, featuring Chris gettin' down with the audience, asking everyone to "Get low!"

Then came the highlight of the night for me: an acoustic quad of older (*cough* better *cough*) Coldplay songs which were as intimate as they were nostalgic. The lovely riffs of "In my Place" started off the set. "Don't Panic" was sung by drummer Will Champion; it's one of my favorites. But it couldn't top what was (for me) the best song of the night: "Trouble." Somber but beautiful in its own way, "Trouble" is a rare find in the setlists of today's Coldplay and was absolutely fantastic. Finally came another rare gem: "Green Eyes," which was somewhat marred by Chris's well-intentioned attempt at giving the local Redskins some luck (HA! what folly) by changing the lyrics.

The finale of the show was the hopeful and popular trio of "Something Just like This," "A Sky Full of Stars," and "Up and Up." This last track was played against the backdrop of the magical and visually stunning music video for the song.

And if there were two adjectives to sum up the show as a whole, they would be just that: magical and visually stunning. Thanks for an awesome show, Coldplay!

First of all I need to just say wow! Wow! Yesterday I experienced one of the greatest nights of my life. Yesterday I really did feel like I was part of something special, something so big and beautiful. The love, the happiness and the excaitment people were feeling last night were something you can't put words on. We stood in the rain for so many hours, we sat in a que and then we stood in the rain again.. but let me just say that when Coldplay came on stage they put on the best god damn show ever. You could really feel their thankfulness during the show. They promised us (in Chris Martins own words) "The best fucking show ever" and let me tell you it was! During the night I got to experience people from different countries dancing and singing along together, I got to experience that moment when Chris decided to write a new song about Sweden and Gothenburg! The night was amazing in so many ways. And just as he said during the night, that he believes when people are working together and last night everybody in that arena stood together. We celebrated the music, the evening and most of all we celebrated the love. Because in the end of the day Love is what matters and it will always win.

Yesterday was beautiful, just pure beautiful!

A Coldplay concert is a real face to face experience for a someone who love their songs. It may not be an intimate experience but considering the legions of fans that they have only a concert can accommodate everyone who are waiting all their lives for a chance to hear them live. and they never disappoint. A total performance complete with lasers and light and firework BUT without much fanfare, just them singing & playing their hearts OUT song after song alone or in harmony with the fans some crying, most gleefully dancing to their upbeat song or swaying OR slow dancing to slow Fix You or Yellow and probably thinking of someone they "cannot replace". Chris Martin is an awesome guy and so are the rest of the band. May their personal lives be as awesome as their professional lives, they deserve that too. as to Singapore, it may not be as engaging as it would be in the Philippines but hey, no one can complain; i had the best time celebrating my birthday in one of the best stadium this side of town with around 50K Coldpay fans celebrating with me :) :). Long live Coldplay, may you continue to bring joy to you fans worldwide. Looking forward to another Coldplay concert experience in the future.
